For the 65th anniversary of Barbie, we are going to see so many interesting releases and collectors editions - we have already seen several. One of these has been a Millie* and Brooklyn release honoring the original Barbie but with a modern twist.

*Millie being the name of the face sculpt and simple variations thereon, being the standard face sculpt for white blonde Barbies since approximately 2014.

Using the sunglasses, the black and white stripes and the stark red lip as a jumping off point, this release showcases the dolls in ballroom gowns.

Mattel have specifically drawn attention to the fact that the Brooklyn face sculpt with the closed mouth is a new one for this release.

Close-up, I really like her face, especially by contrast to the blonde Barbie's Millie sculpt. I appreciate that she still looks like "a Barbie" without looking identical to the white, blonde Barbie with a recolour.

What I am less wowed by is her hair. It's evoking the same hairstyle we have seen Brooklyn with in the TV series and a few of her playline dolls, but a little different. I honestly think I prefer it in some of the previous depictions in playline toys?

But I can't deny that the Brooklyn 65th anniversary doll is a lot more striking. Maybe this is just me. What do you think?

Learning that Nightow was surprised that Trigun attracted a large female audience is so wild.

This man creates the sweetest, silliest, most tormented character to ever exist and is surprised that women like that (also, this character has wings!).

This man creates two amazingly silly and likable female POV characters and then proceeds to not sexualize them at all and does not involve them in any romantic subplots whatsoever and is surprised that women like that.

This man then creates another incredibly tormented guy and has both of his tormented men create a deep bond over a thousand pages and cause profound character development in each other and is surprised that women like that.

An evening stroll with Millie, Sebastian, Noelle and Ominis💚🤍

Noelle’s a bit oblivious when it comes to taking hints, but in a way it still works out. I imagine her love language is more gift giving while Ominis is more based on physical touch and quality time. They both still appreciate each other though❤️

Oh! And of course Millie @the-ozzie and her Sebastian are there too! I could definitely see Millie and Noelle getting together really well and I feel like her and Sebastian set a good example (couple wise) on how Noelle and Ominis get together, since neither of them don’t really know how to show affection, even though they both know they love each other… there a work in progress.
