DS9 CONCEPT

The teenagers of DS9 agreeing to take care of Molly but they somehow end up having to pull a The Voyage Home.

Jake is the one who convinced them to do it

Nog is the brain cell for the moment who reluctantly agrees to go through with it, even though they’re gonna be breaking so many codes of conduct(Jake!)

Ziyal got Jadzia and Garak who got Julian and Kira who got Odo, Rom, and Quark on board for the trip

Amy’s just vibing with the whales most of the time after they get them on board the Bird of Prey

And Alexander is the one who got them into the trouble in the first place and who somehow got ahold of said Bird of Prey

And Molly is kind of just along for the ride cause they can’t tell the O’Brien’s. Or anyone else for that matter

Highlights Include

•Gratuitous amounts of Quodo, Garashir, Kiradax, and the main teens being in a polyamorous quintet of “okay to make it less difficult, here’s a diagram”

•The main five teens being a prime example of polyamory

•” The fate of the universe may depend on it Nog.” “…fine, but you’re getting thrown under the bus if any of us are court-martialed.”

•” We really shouldn’t do this.” “We’re doing it already Major.” “We’ve been doing it since you said you’d come along.”

•” Amy, the whales are fine, just go back to bed.” “But they might be lonely.” “😐”

•Amy bringing everyone who’s up late raktajino and having some soft late night conversation with Nog by the whale tanks(one of them ends up falling asleep on the others shoulder and the one who’s still awake ends up just letting them and they both fall asleep near the whale tanks)

•The teens being sensitive art souls in their own weird little ways

•Everyone competently taking care of Molly throughout the whole venture

•” Where’s Molly?!” “…BRB!” “AMY-!!!“ (proceeds to come back up like five seconds later with Molly perfectly fine)

•the group playing in San Francisco Bay after the mission succeeds

•Jake dragging an already soaked Nog into the bay like Kirk does with Spock in the original film and Nog in turn does the same with Amy unintentionally.

•the other's reactions to the event at the end when the squad gets pulled out of the bay and brought to the Starfleet headquarters and Sisko gets a very interesting call to come back to Earth.

There’s a lot of characters in star trek, and therefore a lot of moms! I often try to include most series, but this time snw, prodigy, and ent didn’t get an example. And, I left one of my own favorites off - K’ehleyr, Alexander’s mom. I’m sorry if I left your favorite off.

Also note that - like real life - sometimes Star Trek parents make bad choices, and it’s ok to have a variety of feelings about that. Some people may find some mistakes understandable and others may not.

ds9 characters by how they would react to being deaged, as in the tng episode "rascals"

sisko: would be a little annoyed by it at first, but would kind of find it cute to get to have a more sibling-ish relationship with jake temporarily. family is the most important thing!

kira: like ensign ro, i think it would bring up memories of her awful childhood. unlike ensign ro, she was an actual terrorist as a child and her current effectiveness at her job depends on people knowing that she could just shoot them if they disappoint her, so i think she’d just keep pluggin’ away and then have one (1) devastating breakdown when she’s alone with odo about how her real childhood was stolen from her.

dax: would HATE IT SO MUCH. she likes her body! she likes being tall! all her favorite things (drinking, sex, gambling) are inaccessible to children! plus the worm wouldn’t shrink with her so it would probs be really uncomfy to have it in there! fix it! make it better!

odo: he would continue to look the same because his kind does not have childhoods. “are you all right, sir?” a security officer would say after he heard sobbing from inside the security office. “it is a… private matter,” odo would say.

bashir: depends if it reverts his genetic enhancements. if it does, he’ll have Feelings. if it doesn’t, he’ll probably just try and take advantage of his newfound flexibility to improve his tennis game.

o’brien: not thrilled, but this is just what happens to o’briens, isn’t it? keiko got turned into a child back on the enterprise, molly got turned into a feral adult by the time portal. it’s been years since he felt any regret about stealing that bread from the hag back in the old country. a bloodline curse is a bloodline curse. this will work itself out soon enough. at least it’s not another mind prison thingy

O’Brien does not suffer the most.

I’ve been thinking about the “semi-annual torture O’Brien” episodes and how it’s become a meme that no one in DS9 suffers as much as him - even though it’s pretty clear that other characters in the show definitely have had worse overall.

And I think that the reason his torture episodes feel more sadistic than other characters’ is because they rarely impact the larger plot. The undercover episode ties in the most, but you have like, Hard Time, and the Molly episode and they’re just total departures that serve nothing in terms of overarching plot, and the only character development is “O’Brien has a horrible fucking day.”

Meanwhile when other characters suffer, it provides new political information, or progresses the Dominion War, or provides new development in interpersonal relationships with the rest of the crew.

O’Brien does not suffer the most, but it registers as more cruel because the only point of those episodes is his suffering.

Per my previous post, I’m just going absolutely bonkers thinking about the DS9 crew if they were swapped with Voyager. Can you imagine O’Brien having to deal with that engineering nightmare? Jake, Nog, and Molly growing up as the only kids on board (at first) and nog still pursuing Starfleet because he’s just so inspired by the officers day in and day out (Wesley Crusher). Kira as a Chakotay mirror for sooo many reasons. Jadzia having to come to terms with the fact that if she dies out there in the Delta Quadrant it’s the end of Dax. Bashir as a half-finished EMH only designed to go on short missions because the human Bashir was found out while Zimmerman was completing the program and having to learn how to be sociable/part of the crew by adopting their traits. Sisko still receiving his visions from the Prophets and having to make tough decisions based on them. Quark as an asshole version of Neelix. Odo searching for his people and, surprise, turns out he’s from the other side of the galaxy. Ahhhhh it’s all just delicious.

Mind the Gap, Chapter 1

Pairing: Michael Kinsella x F!Reader, Matt Murdock & Reader (Platonic)

Story Summary: When Michael gets sent across the pond to fix an issue with the Kinsella clan's drug trade expansion into New York City, he never expected to meet and fall for a pretty law clerk from the office of Nelson, Murdock, and Page. But when she gets abducted by a rival cartel, Michael will have to enlist the help of the very vigilante that's trying to take down his entire operation.

Fuckin' hell, let's get this over with, Michael Kinsella thought to himself as he trudged up the driveway to his sister-in-law’s house.

He had just gotten word that the Garda had wrapped up their investigation into his father's and uncle’s deaths and had ruled the case a murder-suicide -- therefore clearing him from further questioning -- when Amanda had texted that she was calling a meeting.

Amanda opened the door before he had even reached it. “Hey,” she said.

Michael walked in. “Hi.”

Amanda closed the door behind him. “Hadn't seen ya in a while.”

Aye, and there's a fuckin' reason for tha’, Michael thought.

As Amanda had started taking over more and more territory and doing whatever she had to in order to stay on top, Michael had realized that it hadn't ever been him that she had wanted, it had been the Kinsella name and the power and prestige that had come with it.

While he hadn't ever regretted having Jamie, he had regretted sleeping with Amanda when she had come on to him while Jimmy had been in prison all those years ago and again more recently when her marriage had been falling apart and Michael had been dealing with finding out about Molly being engaged.

He shrugged. “Been busy.”

“Wan’ a drink?”

Michael shook his head. What he wanted was to go back home.

Amanda pursed her lips, but before she could say anything else, Birdy arrived.

“So what's ya call a meetin’ for?” Michael asked once they had all sat down at Amanda's kitchen table.

Amanda folded her hands together in front of her and leaned forward. “I called ya over because we're takin’ over some operations in America and I need ya ta go oversee tha transfer. There's been some issues.”

Michael was taken aback. “Me? Why me?”

“Because we're all busy -- I’m tryin’ ta clean up tha mess Bren left while also dealin’ wit' Jimmy's shite, Viking is workin' on getting tha houses reopened, and Birdy's still dealin’ with Frank's estate. Yer’ that only one left who we can trust ta take care a’ things.”

“Plus I think it'll be good for ya to get away for a while ‘till things settle down again,” Birdy added.

Michael shook his head. “Are ya forgettin’ tha’ I'm a convicted felon? They won' even let me on a plane, much less inta another country.”

“Tha's already taken care of.” Birdy picked up a manilla envelope off of the table and handed it to him. “Everything is in here.”

Michael opened it to find an ID and passport.

He looked at the ID. “Michael O’Brien?”

Amanda shrugged. “Best we could do on short notice. ‘Least ya get ta go by yer first name.”

Birdy cut her eyes over to Amanda briefly before turning back towards Michael. “Flight’s already booked. Ya leave on Thursday.”

Michael sighed, resigned. “Where exactly am I goin?”

A satisfied look spread across Amanda's face as she leaned back. “New York City.”
