“Is that…. Is that a dog?”

Walking through your apartment door, you immediately stopped in your tracks. You stood there confused as you heard what sounded like a dog barking, and then followed by someone shushing the dog.

You shut the door behind and place your bags right on the floor, too confused to worry about leaving them there. You walk down the hallway to the living room. As you stepped foot in the living room, you noticed the culprit of the barking and then the culprit of the shushing.

You walk around to the front of the couch to see Nico and a cute little puppy in his arms on the floor. You go back and forth looking at Nico and then the puppy.

Stunned, you ask, “Is that… is that a dog?”

Shyly, Nico replies, “No, it’s a puppy.” You roll your eyes at his sarcastic reply, then moving closer to get a good look at the little guy.

You sit on the floor next to them, and the dog puppy moves to sit in your lap. “Okay, Mr.sarcastic, why do we have a puppy?”

He gives you one of his infamous innocent smiles. “Well, you see, I was walking down the road to get my coffee, when I noticed a sign that said there was a puppy adoption going on today, so I stopped and fell in love with this one!”

“Nico, baby,” you sigh. “He’s adorable, but how are we going to be able to take care of him with you gone half the time and me at work?” The puppy must hear your unease about having it there as reaches up to lick your cheek.

“Okay, I haven’t figured that all out yet, but he was too adorable to pass up! I mean look at him, schatzi! He’s so cute!”

You give the puppy one good look over, and instantly you’re falling in love with it too. “Okay, okay! We can keep him!”

At that, Nico leans in and gives you a kiss before picking up the puppy out of your lap. “See! She gave in, I knew she would!”
