And then Emily mistakes him for meaning "patchwork clothes" and becomes so enamoured by the idea of this woman, this monster trying to make her own clothing that Fia refuses to fight her. Even as the spawn attacks her. Even as the spawn attacks her friends.

And then do you think about how when Fia meets up with Irina again, first in her dreams and then in reality, Murph mentions multiple times that she's "wearing a patchwork cloak, like someone who has had to make her own clothes but isn't particularly good at it". Do you ever think about that. Do y-

I feel like eldermorne as a whole just gets that much better, when you keep in mind that murph grew up in a devout catholic household.

Like mans was afraid to worship the fucking dice devil at the beginning of this fucking podcast. He REEKS of unprocessed catholic guilt. The entire concept of eldermorne as a whole is so parallel to the world at large that we live in, and basically the deconstruction of faith

Like i cannot imagine how cathartic the entire last chunk of the campaign must have felt to him, or even if any of this was intentional (i have a feeling it’s a mix of both) but even as someone who wasn’t really raised catholic, (but had parents who used to be catholic), re listening to eldermorne the second time is like healing some of the religious trauma I never even realized I had.

Anyways, I think all of this is hilarious in a fucked up way, while simultaneously being so sad and like deep.

Emily Axford, as Fia Boginya just said “consider it a mercy that I do not hate you” to her father who was about to sacrifice her to the Reaper and a single improvised line in an actual play dnd podcast being such a beautiful encapsulation of how difficult it is to turn your back on family even when they hurt you, how love is a mercy especially when it is undeserved. Absolutely carve my heart out with a knife, Emily Axford.

She is effortless and precisely cutting in everything she does and I lay myself at her feet in worship.

So it took me a long time to start listening to NADDpod and that's totally on me people have been professing it's praises to me for a while

But like I didn't want to deal with getting into (ironicly) another dnd podcast with a whole new list of players and characters and a new setting and shit I was tired

But then I watched dimension 20's Starstruck Odyssey and Murph was hot and Emily was fantastic and something somewhere (despite already knowing this information) finally got through to me that Murph dmed naddpod and Emily was a player and I finally decided to listen.

So here I am finished with C1 and loving every minute of it.

I genuinely love Caldwell Tanner's characters and I feel I don't give them their fair due sometimes and I need to admit this is because Emily and Jake are both two exceptional D&D players with wildly different styles and ranges, and also their main PCs every campaign have so much chemistry (not always romantic to be clear: Hank and Fia are 100% platonic) that it's insane

everything about Caldwell Tanner's presence on naddpod makes you forget he is a man with an incredibly chiseled chin and jawline. his main campaign characters are 1) a teenage halfling boyscout with braces 2) a tired and scrawny elf who likes licking mysterious substances and 3) a frog. he's silly and does dubious intro rhymes (turdis) and can sing in a haunting boy voice and then every time i see a picture of this guy i'm like. damn. that's a clark kent bone structure.

I remember once on NADDPOD, Caldwell mentioned that he also storyboarded for Big City Greens on the first two seasons. Did you two happen to work together?

he was my first ever board partner and we worked together on all our season 1 and season 2 episodes! shared a cube with and saw that guy every day for like for 2 and a half years haha

We still hang after he left! He DMd a D&D campaign for our friend group earlier this year and we’re currently players in another one together now! Amazing guy for real 💞
