The phenomenon that is "Christian Girl Autumn" can only be described as a whirlwind of glamour reserved specifically for the colder weather. It stands out, remaining one of a kind; there can be no "Christian Girl Summer" or "Christian Girl Spring". Most popular from 2013–16, Christian Girl Autumn was almost like a cult, a completely different world that has had and will continue to have a resurgence.
What are the defining features of "Christian Girl Autumn"? Clothing wise, we’ve got snoods and UGG boots; these pieces were a stylish, comfortable, and chic way to dress up for colder weather. Moving on to makeup, "Christian Girl Autumn" was the time for warm-toned eye looks, and for this, the Urban Decay Naked3 eyeshadow palette was perfect, sporting warm rosy tones. We’ve also got the Too Faced Sweet Peach eyeshadow palette, which showcases more orange and bronzed looks. Accompanied with some cat-eye winged eyeliner, these palettes were perfect for creating an iconic "Christian Girl Autumn" look. Pair these two things together with some voluminous wavy hair and some sort of beanie or bobble hat, and you’ve captured "Christian Girl Autumn."
Why was "Christian Girl Autumn" so special? To me, "Christian Girl Autumn" was a way of appreciating and celebrating a season to the fullest extent. It’s just another way of appreciating the world around you and enjoying the changing seasons.
The elephant in the room is that Christian Girl Autumn is not the most accessible trend; the name is literally "Christian Girl Autumn, which doesn’t really scream inclusive. A lot of the products that define the trend are expensive, and perhaps not everyone wants to or can wear makeup or style their hair in bouncy beach waves. That’s why the resurgence and modernization of the trend is important; 2023's "Christian Girl Autumn" is for everyone! As I said before, what makes this trend special is the appreciation of the changing seasons, and whether you choose to express that through fashion and beauty or not is up to you. "Christian Girl Autumn" is not defined by how you look, who you are, or what fancy products you own; it’s a state of mind.

As someone who cannot stick to just one makeup look, traveling is not just planning for activities; I must plan my makeup looks ahead as well. I must figure out what eyeshadows I am going to wear, what foundations I may want to use, and what mascaras I will wear. The last few months I have done a lot of traveling, between where I live, visiting home, and traveling with my job. I have put together my favorite makeup picks to store in my makeup bag.
I love trying out new foundations, and always look for full coverage, and a matte finish. When traveling, I always grab my PUR Foundation Crème Stick. This foundation does not feel heavy on my face and is an amazing full coverage. It also provides me with a matte finish. It does not come off with sweat, nor does it feel sticky on my face. I tend to wear a lot of pinks, so I always pack my Naked 3 palette, which is a “12 pan palette of rose-tinted shades...easy to apply and blend without grabbing, pulling, or creasing” (Mecca, 2023). This palette does exactly that and matches most of my outfits. It also fits snuggly in my makeup bag. For highlighters I tend to pack the Glow Kit by Anastasia Beverly Hills, specifically the butterscotch shade. This shade contains ingredients such as octyldodecanol (Mecca, 2023). Octyldodecanol is a mineral that does not block the pores (EWG’s Skin Deep, 2023). It is very safe on the skin, unlike some ingredients used in makeup. Lastly for bronzer I pack my Nars Mini Laguna Bronzing Powder. Not only is this already a travel size compact, but it gives me a beautiful natural finish.
My go to products are also my mostly used products. Any time that I have not been able to pack one of these products, I always think to myself, why didn’t I bring this? These products have always left me with a beautiful long-lasting look that is not affected by the humidity, or all the running around done while traveling.
