The Village
As I searched for tutorials on crafting mountains out of molehills, a troubling thought seized my mind – Was this the path I wanted to take? Contributing to the displacement of moles? These poor creatures are ill-suited for mountain life? Where would they find refuge? – I decided not to create a mountain; instead, I would find the one I love most and move close enough to hug it every morning. My…

As a Canadian woman sure I was a lil offended at the Canada lyrics on Kendrick's disses bc wtf did we do to you sir HOWEVER I have lived in the shadows of the misogynistic asshole Drake (and The Weeknd, tbh, but that's another story) for so long. I hated him forever and his lyrics always made me uncomfortable but he was EVERYWHERE. Everyone blasts these guys' songs like they aren't talking ab treating women like objects the whole time. Bc no one cared. Sure male artists from around the world, especially America, do this, but this is a great first step. I don't want Drake associated with us anymore I don't want to hear his songs on our radio stations. I want Kendrick to win by such a margin that Toronto's property value goes down so that Canadians can actually afford to live there. Kendrick literally helped small Toronto businesses by mentioning a restaurant there in one of the tracks and so many people visited 😭😭😭😭 Maybe, deep down, he supports us LMAO and he's a real one for sticking up. Also he's always been my fav male rapper, he's so intelligent and wise

‘Misunderstanding’ Caused BC Company to Say Health Canada Licensed It to Sell Cocaine, Trudeau Says
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau says it was a “misunderstanding” that caused a British Columbia-based company to say Health Canada granted it permission to produce, sell, and distribute cocaine.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau speaks to the media in Ottawa on Feb. 12, 2023. (Patrick Doyle/The Canadian Press)
Trudeau told reporters in Winnipeg on March 3 that he was “as surprised” as B.C. Premier David Eby when he heard that the company Adastra Holdings Ltd., which produces marijuana for adult use and medical sales out of its headquarters in Langley, B.C., announced on Feb. 22 that it was permitted by Health Canada to “legally possess, produce, sell and distribute” cocaine.
The company said in a news release that it had been granted a Health Canada amendment to its controlled substance dealer’s licence on Feb. 17.
Eby first responded to the company’s statement on March 2, saying he was “astonished” that Health Canada would grant the amendment and that his government would be contacting Health Canada for answers.
“I was as surprised as the premier of British Columbia was to see that company was talking about selling cocaine on the open market or commercializing it,” Trudeau said on March 3.
“There are limited and very restricted permissions for certain pharmaceutical companies to use that substance for research purposes and for very specific narrowly prescribed medical purposes, but it is not a permission to sell it commercially or provide it on an open market.”
The prime minister said his government is actively addressing the issue.
“We are working very quickly with this company to correct their misunderstanding that their press release has caused,” he said, adding that decriminalizing the commercial sale of cocaine “is not something that this government is looking at furthering.”
Decriminalization B.C. decriminalized possession of up to 2.5 grams of certain hard drugs, including cocaine, beginning on Jan. 31 following Health Canada’s approval of three-year experimental decriminalization exemption program back in May 2022.
Federal Mental Health and Addictions Minister Carolyn Bennett has said that B.C.’s decriminalization plan will reduce “the stigma, the fear, and shame that keep people who use drugs silent about their use, or using alone.”
In 2022, B.C. had an average of over six people dying from drug overdoses every day, and over 11,000 people in the province have died from illicit drug overdoses since the provincial government declared a public health emergency in 2016.
Federal Conservative Party Leader Pierre Poilievre has criticized the decriminalization policy, saying the solution to the issue of addiction is “more treatment and recovery,” rather than “more poison.”
Both Trudeau and Justice Minister David Lametti have said Ottawa has no plans for a national drug decriminalization policy.
The Canadian Press and Marnie Cathcart contributed to this report.

While handing out candy tonight (to the entire dozen kids who showed up) I found myself thinking about how long it has been since I was last doing so.
Last year I was, iirc, down at my sister’s place in Toronto, and between her being immunocompromised and COVID still running rampant, candy was not handed out.
Year before that? COVID. Also no Halloween.
Year before that? Dad was still alive. I think we had maybe 6-8 kids total show up (it had been very low numbers for years - this town had aged out of having much of a population of kids).

Dating In Toronto IV
… That’s what my dating life looks like right now – nutrients must be injected. I could also use some nutritious men – not in a cannibalistic or porny kinda way. Unedited I don’t know what’s going on. Do I look retarded in my photos? Too fat? Too ugly? Too casual? ugh! Should I have settled for B2 or put up with the guy who told me to braid my hair, and also what undies to wear. Maybe I’m…

Snow - Informer 1992
"Informer" is a song by Canadian reggae musician Snow, released in December 1992 as the first single from his debut album, 12 Inches of Snow (1993). "Informer" was a chart-topping hit, spending seven consecutive weeks at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100. It peaked at number one on the singles chart in Denmark, Finland, Germany, Ireland, Norway, Sweden and Switzerland, as well as on the Eurochart Hot 100. It entered the top 10 in Austria, France, Greece, Iceland, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, and the UK, where the single peaked at number two during its third week at the UK Singles Chart. Outside Europe, it reached number one in Australia, New Zealand, Zimbabwe, and on the US Billboard Hot 100. In Snow's native Canada, "Informer" topped The Record's singles chart and was a top-10 radio hit, peaking at number nine on the RPM 100 Hit Tracks chart. "Informer" was awarded with a gold record in Austria and the Netherlands, a silver record in the UK, and a platinum record in Germany, New Zealand and the US. In Australia, it received a double-platinum record.
As he was growing up in Toronto, Canada, Snow had a strong interest in rock music, but in 1983 there was an influx of Jamaican immigrants to the neighbourhood and his interest turned to reggae music and he became adept at the use of the Jamaican dialect, or Jamaican Patois. He developed his own style of music, by blending dancehall and reggae with rock and pop music.
Snow served an eight-month sentence in Toronto for assault when "Informer" began getting radio and MuchMusic airplay. The song is based on a separate 1989 incident when Snow was charged with two counts of attempted murder. At the time, he was detained for a year in Toronto before the charges were reduced to aggravated assault, and he was eventually acquitted and freed.
"Informer" won a Juno Award for Best Reggae Recording in 1994. It has been recorded twice in the Guinness Book of World Records as the best-selling reggae single in US history, as well as the highest charting reggae single in history. In Japan, Snow received the Recording Industry Association of Japan's 1994 Japan Gold Disc Award for New Artist of the Year.
In 2019, Puerto Rican singer, songwriter, and rapper Daddy Yankee released a new version of "Informer" as "Con Calma" together with Snow, who recorded new parts. The Spanish-language remake topped the charts of 20 countries and reached the top 10 of 10 others. In 2020, Snow won four awards Song of the Year with Daddy Yankee for "Con Calma" at Premio Lo Nuestro Awards, the Pop Music Award from SOCAN, and they won the Top Latin Song of the Year at the 2020 Billboard Music Awards. "Con Calma" won big at the Latin Billboard Music Awards 2020, taking home six awards.
"Informer" received a total of 68,5% yes votes!
