Rolling Reflections: Till the Very End

I used to skate in my younger life, performing tricks on unlikely urban obstacles—for fun. To commemorate the 20th anniversary of a skate video which I performed in, I reflected deeply on life lessons learned from those experiences.

We all have a time in our life that we refer to as the “back then” chapter. Whenever this sepia-toned chapter occurs for us, it represents all that is good, simple, and innocent about our past. hi skaterboy what is, in your opinion, the prettiest inline skates. also one time i met the guy who invented the Roller Skates patent. he lives in a barn with hyper realistic penguin statues and a zipline

i don’t know which patent holder you’re talking about however i 100% believe that. typical behaviour of someone who patented roller skates

anyway, i generally find hard boot recreational skates and aggressive skates to have some of the prettiest contenders

i think the roces 1992s are quite pretty, particularly sage and malta

the impala lightspeeds are incredibly iconic for being pretty, their colour combinations are always on point and the base mould is very nice even in their monochrome colours. i particularly like fairy floss, pink/yellow, and flower power, but theres a ton of colours.

also sidenote: i just found out that they’re doing a collaboration with barbie to make the skates and protective gear seen in the movie. absolutely incredible

i wouldn’t quite call them ‘pretty’ but i do think they’re absolutely dope

the usd aeon 60 sam crofts and mery munozes are really really pretty too. i love the faux sneaker look of the crofts, and the colour scheme of the munozes is so nice on the eyes

Once Upon A Passion это дебютный альбом шведского продюсера и диджея из Лос-Анджелеса Gabriella Borbely, так же известной как Bella Boo, выпущенный 1 ноября 2019 года на стокгольмском лейбле Studio Barnhus. В записи альбома приняли участие Gnucci и Def Sound, а также Nils Janson на трубе и Axel Boman на бас-гитаре. Фото для альбома сделала её дочь Bozi Borbely Espinosa. «Я работала над альбомом весной во время напряженного творческого периода. Я была одержима творческим процессом, проводя бессонные дни и ночи в своей домашней студии в Стокгольме. Я узнала, что меня выселяют, этот внезапный удар превратился в решение сделать альбом. Было такое чувство, будто "подошла к концу эпоха". В то время я была довольно изолирована, проводя почти все свое время за пределами студии с моей дочерью Бози. Кстати, она сделала то фото, которое в итоге стало обложкой альбома. Эти перерывы между записью, действительно помогли мне - они дали мне пространство для размышлений о музыке, которую я делала. Эта динамика была именно тем, что было необходимо для завершения альбома.»- Bella Boo

Väderrapport à la Johan Berke på Fasching 23 maj

På vänkvällen med Johan Berke Uppstairs Five Plays Wheater Report deltog bla Faschingvännen och bloggaren Anders Lindén. Läs hela hans referat på https://kulturyttranden.wordpress.com/ . Vi saxar valda delar av texten till våra fotografier. Tack Anders! 

Att härma kan vara roligt men det rena plagiatet är ingen lösning inom jazzen. Det vet bandledaren Johan Berke som tagit sig an låtarna som Weather Report framförde på 1970-talet och som skrevs av Joe Zawinul, Wayne Shorter och Jaco Pastorius.

”Man gör vad man kan för att matcha de gamla hjältarna”, som Berke uttryckte sig. Men jag skulle inte säga att Berke och Fredrik Nordström med sina arrangemang försöker matcha låtarna på Weather Reports hemmaplan, utan de har gjort dem till något annat än de ursprungliga versionerna.

Det beror bland annat på att sättningen på Fasching denna torsdagskväll på avgörande punkter skiljer sig från förlagans, vilket gjorde det omöjligt att framkalla samma ljudbild som i ursprunget. Berkes Upstairs Five innehåller fler blåsare och spelar utan keyboard och utan elbas, vilket gör att det fusionartade som fanns i originalen nästan helt försvinner. Försvinner gör också det ”plastiga” ljudet, och vi i publiken får mer av den ”vanliga” jazzens ljudbild, vilket också understryks av arrangemangen.

Men med det sagt så kan jag konstatera att bandet lät väldigt fint med blåsarna Fredrik Nordström (tenor-, alt- och barytonsax), Alberto Pinton (baryton- och sopransax, klarinett och basklarinett) samt Nils Janson (trumpet) i förgrunden och kontrabasisten Robert Erlandsson, trummisen Fredrik Rundqvist och Johan Berke på gitarr i bakgrunden.

Anders kommenterade kapellmästaren Johan Berke: Jag kunde hela tiden avläsa låtarna och musikernas prestationer i hans minspel där han stod bakom sina gigantiska notblad längst ut på scenen och la ut ackord och slingor och samtidigt följde och övervakade de övrigas spel.

På CD-omslaget är Johan Berke och hans vädergrupp fint avbildad av Nina Grönroos. 9 av låtarna på albumet är från Wheather Report´s repertoar och Meteorological Interludes 1 och 2 är skrivna av Johan Berke.

Under kvällen hade vi nöjet att hälsa Jörgen Johansson välkommen som ny medlem, i bild flankerad av Faschings Vänners styrelsemedlemmar Jari Rusanen och Hans Nilsson.

Eftersnack i baren - tombonisten Karin Hammar, ljudansvarige Pawel Lucki och basisten Filip Augustsson.
