Here's a query for YOU: who do you think Lynette befriends first outside Guna and Mist in Kardia? And who does she befriend first of HER own volition?

I love this ask so much you don't even know.

For some clarity; for most Rune Factory games, when it comes to their protagonists and the possible love interests, I usually headcanon their ages as older than the game(s) hint at them being. So keep that in mind, and maybe add between 5 to 8 to even 10 years to your headcanon age. [I won't name any numbers, and that'll just lock me into my own math.] But treat these folks as their prime adult selves after the events of the first game, not ""kids""~

Mist is obviously the "friend whether (you) like it or not." Raguna is roped in by that genuine, adorable charm and Lynette would fall for it, too. Look at her, a second person so ready to extend care and forgiveness... And Lynn will just have to accept it and begin to move on into her new life. It's the easier choice. Better than feeling so goddamn sorry for herself (or worse, as we saw the lengths Ethelbard was pushing her to). Even if it feels strange being in such a tight knit and supportive environment, and even if she'll look for cracks that prove it's all a lie.

After Mist, though, once she forces herself to try and live in a new place...

Lara and Tabatha and Jasper wind up becoming nice to talk to.

[ With a bonus of Sabrina and Godwin, with the questions of Newmann and Felicity. ]

Lara likely puts up a furious air at first, How many people could have been hurt, how many HAD as those stupid things were put around town... (Not to mention those RUMORS that spread about how Raguna lost his memory....) but quickly comes to realize that Lynette was involved, but not solely, entirely responsible. Not to mention she sees Lyn as someone who is... Tired. Dragging themselves through every day. Lara gives a deep sigh. So. She aids this new member of the town under the promise that Lynette helps others as she tries to help herself. While those medical visits become less and less, both women can't help but cross the street and seek one another out to talk. They may not have much in common when it comes to interests or tastes, but. It's nice. Sometimes you don't need all that. A connection can just be there.

Tabatha and Jasper feel like easy conversation. Both are used to more sharp natured persons, so they wouldn't be offended. And both don't put stock in local prejudices, political lines, and the nonsense of governing bodies (Jasper with his ties to the Sainte-Coquille business affairs, and Tabatha connected to that+comparing to her original home). I feel like both would be very quick to see past where Lynette is from, and her previous "occupation."

Jasper is such a kind and happy fellow. I could see him just wanting to know about what it was like as a person in Sechs Aristocracy, if it's similar to what he's heard from x, y, z.... Asking Lyn about her life, not job, probably helps break some ice. Maybe Lynette gets to gossip about petty, tiny things that she hadn't gotten to enjoy before. And how about that line of meats from those critters native to the heart of the empire...? Oh Jasper NEEDS some of those cuts- marinated in a very specific way, Lynette swears on her life (and it's just a joke this time).

And Tabatha? She's so calm. So soothing. She won't force Lyn to talk, but will listen when the other dares to break the silence. She seems to know how to enter a conversation and could find the perfect, small gift to make someone's day. I've drawn Lynette before in alternate clothing before so she's not in her military gear, and I stand firm that Tabatha made that set. They're good for the local weather, they're made of comfortable, fine material... and it's got to feel better not being in something that made Lynette stand out so much.

Bonus in Sabrina and Godwin, who are names that wouldn't leave me alone when thinking about this.

Godwinnn. He's skeptical and rightfully so, but as everything calms down, he has to take a chance. It's either hold that grudge and be retaliatory forever, which would strongly influence those looking at him for his decision, or choose to trust this person and get back to some semblance of older life. He prefers the peace of the latter, and is rewarded- especially when she does find her own pattern in the town. In fact, he's able to, well, "forget" about her, in a good way. She's a face he'll greet with an "Oh-! Didn't know you were coming, how are things?" since he doesn't hear much about her. But it's a positive feeling. A hearty greeting. Not just a nod and a walk past.

(She has to be brought up in tangent given our affinity for her, as well, but Felicity was watching that decision- and she's. It's not that she didn't support the decision, and she doesn't think it was the wrong choice... but Felicity's going to need to see some effort and proof. This is a risk. Like Lara, but a deeper rooted feeling. Stronger if she's paired with Raguna, as she'd hear those rumors, and be disgusted by them. But she could be won over, if more slowly, as her patient FP/LP mechanic implies.)

I feel like, for some reason, Newmann would keep some distance, questioning Godwin's decision, while Sabrina would be able to immediately see this new townsperson means no harm. Sabrina keeps an open seat at the bar and the restaurant and could act as a conversation or a buffer- detract attention from some of those who haven't yet become comfortable with their new neighbor. Sabrina doesn't care for bullshit, and she's got a good example to set for her son. I almost wish Lynette were a jump older still, as these two could've been a fun freaking dynamic!

Double bonus; Ivan hates the living daylights out of her and there is absolutely no recovery, due to my headcanon of him having witnessed Raguna's abduction before his memory loss. Lynette also knows who Ivan really is, she'd done her research. This is a pact to act civil among civil people. That's it.

I know I've joked about not absolutely adoring RF4's characters as much as most people, but one thing it did that I appreciate was those conversations you could trigger if multiple towns people are standing near one another in a scene/on a holiday/etc. It'd be fun to get others talking not to Raguna, but to each other, to hear what they'd think. Early game, invasion time, post game...

RF1s. Please. I'm begging you.

I know I'm probably a weirdo for this, but one day I got to thinking, what if Pokemon was lingually accurate? Like, if characters were named appropriately based on their region? So I actually went through Bulbapedia and compiled a list of every major character's names in other languages. And just in case anyone else was curious, I thought I'd share it.

I'm going from the English base, so I'm majorly not including Unova, Galar, and most of Alola. Ones that are weird or are migrants I give explanations for.

Kanto: Japanese

Red: Same in English and Japanese

Leaf: Same in English and Japanese

Blue: Technically referred to as Green in Japanese since the original games were Red and Green (hence remakes being FireRed and LeafGreen), but is considered Blue internationally and it makes more sense to me (Red picks Charmander, rival picks Squirtle to be better, thus Blue).

Every one of his codenames is a reference to his appearance ex. LeBelle in German and Beladonis in French.

Shimaboshi (Cyllene): She is originally from Hoenn, but Hoenn is also Japanese so that means nothing for her name.

French and Chinese use the respective language's variation of the phrase as a base for her name, while Spanish and Italian use Greek words, for "wisdom" and "intelligence" respectively.

Professor Laventon: He's Galarian, so his name is English.

Unova: English The only ones I'm doing here are ones that AREN'T necessarily the English version.

Clay or Yakon: I've heard Clay may play on Japanese businessman tropes, and he has an ancestor in Hisui, so his name could be either of these.

Lacey or Taro: As Clay's daughter, her situation is the same as his.

Cyrano or Mirtilo: English and Spanish names respectively. Lives in Unova, but as Clavel's classmate could be from Paldea maybe? Saffron or Milo: As above

Alola: English Hawaii is an American state, and there isn't a Native Hawaiian translation of the games, so English is the default language here. But Hawaii does have ties to the East, so I will use some of the Japanese names if they make more sense to me. Most are just slight spelling changes anyhow.

Yo (Elio): Moved from Kanto to Alola, so Japanese name.

Mizuki (Selene): Moved from Kanto to Alola, so Japanese name.

Ma'o (Mallow): Technically her Japanese name is just Mao, but ma'o is the Hawaiian word for Hawaiian cotton and I feel spelling it that way feels better.

Sophocles or Māmane: Both names after the same plant, the Sophora chrysophylla, it's common and local Hawaiian name being māmane.

Hapu'u (Hapu): Hapu'u is her name in Japanese and comes from hāpuʻu, the Hawaaian tree fern.

Molayne or Mullein: Molayne is just a different spelling tbh and I kinda think it looks better.

Skipping Galar; there aren't really a lot of clear foreigners besides Kabu whose name is the same.

Paldea: Spanish and Portuguese I look at both languages because Paldea is based on the Iberian Peninsula and not just Spain. However, with Portuguese, I'm having to look at Brazilian Portuguese, which is not quite the same as European Portuguese, because that's almost all that's on Bulbapedia. I generally choose whether to use Spanish or Portuguese based on if said name is also the same as the English and/or Japanese name. Or default if only one is available. Also uhh my order might be a bit weird here because I didn't get to actually play these games. I kinda assumed you go through the teachers before Gym Leaders, so...yeah. I can re-order it later if that's wrong or confusing.

Florian: From an unknown region, but the same in English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian.

Juliana: From an unknown region, but the same in English, German, Spanish, French, and Italian.

Nemo(?): She is noted to not be from Paldea but her home isn't specified so it could be anything. Nemona is her name in English and E. Portuguese, Nemo in Japanese, Korean, Mandarin, and Thai, Noêmia in B. Portuguese, Nemila in German, Nemola in Indonesian, and Nemi in Italian. The odd ones out are Mencía in Spanish and Menzi in French.

Arven: Same in English and B. Portuguese

Jacques (Jacq): The B. Portuguese name as it's closer to his English name. His Spanish name is Cinio, which is Spanish for his Japanese name, Zinnia, which could be confusing considering Higana.

Clavel: Same in Japanese, Spanish, German, French, and Italian. English and B. Portuguese just adds another L. Clive: Same in English and B. Portuguese Director Escolar (Director)

Catarina (Katy): Her B. Portuguese name, which is closer to her name in English (Katy) and Japanese (Kaede).

Brais or Brás (Brassius): His Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively, as both are very close to his English name.

Kissera (Iono): Her B. Portuguese name, comes from "O que será?" apparently meaning "what will it be?", which is closer to the intent behind her name in Japanese (Nanjyamo, name given to an unusually large tree that grows in a particular place; literally meaning "What is it?") and English (Iono, as in "I don't know") than her Spanish name, e-Nigma. Which makes me think of the Riddler.

Fuco (Kufo)

Laureano or Lauro (Larry): His Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively. Larry could be a nickname for either though.

Lima or Citrina (Ryme): Her Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively. Lima has the same puns on lime and rhyme that English and Japanese does, but tbh makes me think more of lima beans. Citrina is from citrino (citrus).

Tuli or Tulipa (Tulip): Her Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively.

Grusha: Actually may be from an unrevealed Russian region as his name is Russian. It's also the same in most languages.

Cayena or Kaya (Rika): Her Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively. Both come from cayenne, which isn't in her Japanese or English names. Her Japanese name is Chili, and Rika comes from paprika.

Poppy: Her name in English, Japanese, and B. Portuguese as well as German and Indonesian.

Hassel?: From and unknown region so could literally be anything, and all his names are very different.

Ságita or Guita (Geeta): Her Spanish and B. Portuguese names respectively. Supercampeona (Top Champion)

Team Star: Same in English and Spanish as well as German, French, and Italian

Penny: Actually from Galar, so her English name. Cassiopeia or Casiopea: English and Spanish forms respectively, referencing the constellation.

Giacomo: Same in English and B. Portuguese DJ Vil (DJ Vice)

Melo or Mélia (Mela): Spanish and B. Portuguese respectively.

Henzo (Atticus): Spanish name. Not like English or Japanese name, but his whole ninja theming makes Henzo fit better than the B. Portuguese Érico.

Ortega: Same in English and B. Portuguese, similar to Japanese, French, and Korean Ortiga.

Erin or Êri (Eri): Spanish and B. Portuguese respectively.

Profesor Sada: Same in English and EUROPEAN Portuguese, listed for once.

Profesor Turo: Same in English, Spanish, and Portuguese.

Kitakami: Japanese Not a region itself I don't think, but it's not connected to a specific region I don't think, so.

15. Which two games do you think would make an awesome crossover?

Admittedly, a Rune Factory Four/Princess Debut Crossover would be pretty sick. One of Vishnal's siblings is named Kiefer, and one of the princes in Princess Debut's name is Kiefer. I just think that it would be neat if you got to travel to the Flower Kingdom and explore it, meet Sabrina and all of the princes, and maybe have a special dance event with your spouse after you got married? And a special Vishnal event where you go with him to the Flower Kingdom and help him reconnect with his brother. Maybe this isn't technically a crossover, but I just think it would be cool.

17. What game do you never tell people you play?

Any dating sims/visual novels, basically. Pizza Game, Princess Debut, Our Life: Beginning and Always, Imagine Ice Champion and Imagine Figure Skater, Imagine Ballerina (oh yeah, and the Imagine series)..the list goes on. I'm embarrassed to play these types of games and scared I'll be judged. A few people know I play these games (and now my followers, whoops), but the majority don't.

27. Has there ever been a moment that made you cry?

Oh god, don't get me started.

Spoilers for the ending of Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon under the cut!!

When your partner Pokemon leaves you at the end of Pokemon Super Mystery Dungeon? That gets me every time. The speech they make, your reaction, the music...it just gets me. Your best friend is leaving, and you hardly had a chance to say goodbye! I've beaten the game twice, and both times I cried at the ending. It's just so good.

De Sainte-Coquille candidates

So far we have no idea if there is going to be a member of the De Sainte-Coquille family in rf5, though seeing that in every single game (including side games) include this family, I'd think there would at least be one member of this crazy family in rf5.

The candidate with the most evidence is Priscilla. Firstly her bright pink hair is in line with the family, as all of the bachelorettes always have some type of brightly coloured hair. She is caring (from what info we have on her) which again is a trait shared with other members of the family, and her clothes are fairly rich esc. looking, not as much as previous members but with the gold and how modest it is.

Though Priscilla is a good batch for a De Sainte-Coquille family member the more interesting choice is Lucas.

Lucas is described many times as a 'gentleman' which is usually someone with a wealthy family so that's a good connection. His outfit is the most richest out of all of the bachelor's with how its styled and his gloves. Though for Lucas that's all we know due to his amnesia, in general I'd think the idea for him being the De Sainte-Coquille family member would be kinda cool, a lost link of the family though there isnt much evidence it's just a theory.

Guest Characters

In all previous rune factory games (except for 1 & 2 (I guess?)) we have had past characters return in the most recent game, for main series games it's only main series character. We dont know how many characters will be reappearing but for my guessing, I'm guessing a character from each main series game. Also there is going to be a "special" rf4 character appearing if you link up your rf4s save to 5 so yeah.

• usually a bachelorette from a previous game

• if a female character has appeared then a Male character will appear next (yue >> Barret, Mei >> Ethelbeard)

• characters from rf1 will be considerably older

•characters from rf2 will be older

(Also tabatha as she appears in rfO but she was in rfF as a bachelorette but it's a but iffy. And Cecelia to, she appeared as a character in rf1 and was a bachelorette in rf2. So eh)

My speculation

Rf1 character:

Sabrina

Okay I've gotta explain myself. firstly with the changing of genders, the rf1 character would be female so sabrina would be good there. Also with the aging up of the characters her son would be older and he could of taken over her shop so she could roam the world. She could be roaming around looking for different fish and helping newcomers to fishing. As so far there isn't a fishing character she could be your mentor in a sence.

My second choice would be Zavier.

Rf2 character:

I'm not picking a character as I don't know a lot about rf2 but I think it would be cool if a 2nd gen kid could appear as a adult. Out of them I'd think leann would be cool and could be the De Sainte-Coquille character.

Rf3 character:

Zaid

I generally like zaid as a character (so that's one reason I want him in rf5) also with him being a fighter in rf3 (in the main quest and in some side quests) he could be a cool fighter as a lot of rf5 characters can fight.

Also theres no dwarf characters in rf5 so far (ya give us furrys but no dwarfs)

My second choice would be Gaius (with Raven referring multiple times to Gaius it would be cool).

Rf4 character:

Margret

Seeing as she initially left the elf forest to travel the world it would be cool to see her carry on that idea.

My second choice is Arther (though he was initially my first choice though with the girl, boy character introduction he wouldn't follow the rules).

Lukas wasn’t sure how to go about today. He was sure there was no etiquette on how to formally apologize to a man one barely knew about sleeping with him drunk. Hell, Lukas wasn’t sure he was supposed to apologize when they both were entirely drunk and both involved in the sleeping together, but after spending a day in his bed, hungover with a strange aching in his chest, he knew he needed to see Camus again.Why? questioned the more logical side of his brain. You two have never exactly been best friends. Lukas shook that logic off. He wanted to see Camus.

Why? Why? Why?

Lukas shook his head at his reflection in the mirror. It didn’t matter why. He couldn’t avoid Camus forever, and clearing the air was the first step to making their random brushes in town less awkward. Or at least that’s what he was going to tell himself. He didn’t want to think about how strong Camus was, how even in his drunken state he had been impressed by how muscular his arms were, how, even as drunk as he was, he had been so steady. He didn’t want to think of Camus’ face as he came, how warm his body had been as they had laid next to each other. How much Lukas wanted that again, and again, How much his body ached for that touch.

No, he told himself. Just go and apologize. Forget it ever happened. There was nothing there except a drunken mistake and he wasn’t going to pretend it was anything else. He wasn’t even sure why he was feeling this way to begin with. He’d never paid much attention to men in the past anyway. He’d had the occasional tryst, to be sure, but he’d mostly come out of it with the impression it wasn’t quite right for him. A passing fancy from time to time, but nothing more. Camus should be the same. But the less logical part of his brain was caught up in the feel of Camus’ callous hardened hands on his hips and the way he’d completely melted under his touch.

It was the drinks. Nothing more. Stop stalling and deal with this.

Lukas straightened his hat and wandered out of the inn.

Camus breathed hard through his nose, trying to rid himself of the images in his head, but failing hard. He hadn’t stopped thinking about that night since it’d happened and although he’d swore up and down it hadn’t been anything, his body betrayed him. He gave in, taking his hardening cock in his hand and gripping it at the base. He hadn’t been able to get Lukas out of his head since the other night and this morning had woken him from a dream of the other man falling under him. In his dream, the subtle scent of herbs clung to his body. In his dream, he’d run his teeth along Lukas’ neck.

He breathed out, a shaky sound. He stroked himself, slowly at first, giving up on pretending to think of anything else. He thought of how soft Lukas’ hair was, how hot his body had been on his, and he moaned into the cloying air around him as his sped his strokes to the beat of his thrusts from his dreams. It was over embarrassingly quick and he shuddered his orgasm into his fist. His body thrummed with it, not quite sated, but the shame of it all was fast coming, and he knew there’d be no follow up. Camus huffed out a breath, not allowing himself to stay in bed. He cleaned up as best he could, and headed downstairs to ready the shop for opening time.

Neumann was always his first customer of the day, whether he needed something or not. They chatted for a while about their monsters, and whether Neumann needed any repairs to his huts, before turning the conversation to how he and Sabrina were faring. Neumann chuckled, shyly before giving a shrug.

“It’s wonderful to have her back. And Nicolas is growing so fast. I’m just sorry for the time we missed,” he replied. Camus nodded sympathetically.

“I’m glad you two are doing well though,” Camus offered weakly. He knew that the only reason they were was from Raguna’s meddling, but he wasn’t ready to give him the credit or praise. The memory of Melody was still sharp in his brain, bringing him another wash of shame as he remembered that this very morning he’d touched himself to the memory of someone else.

“So what about you?” Neumann asked, slyly. “Anyone in town caught your interest?”

Camus felt red heat fill his face, but shook his head. Neumann didn’t seem fooled, but he graciously dropped the subject. They talked for only a moment more before Neumann claimed he’d left the shop to Felicity for too long and he took his leave. Camus was glad for it as he dropped his head into his hands. He needed to be alone with his thoughts for a while.

Unfortunately, that was a fleeting dream, as the bell above his shop signaled someone’s entrance. He sighed, lifting his head to put on his best customer service face, only for it to drop as he saw who’d entered.

Lukas stood in the doorway, looking sheepish. He offered a weak smile and greeting but Camus barely heard it over the rushing of his blood. Already he swore he could smell Lukas’ fragrance, drafting softly from the other man. He swallowed hard and smiled, sheepishly, back.

“Hey, I just, uh, wanted to apologize for the other night. It was a little bold, even for me,” Lukas said to the floorboards. Camus shook his head.

“No, hey, look,” he started. He wasn’t sure what he wanted to say. That he’d dreamed of him last night? That it had been, strangely, more than okay? Nonsense, his head told him. Keep it cool.

“No harm, no foul,” Camus finally said, something withering inside of him. “We were both very drunk.” Lukas laughed weakly.

“Yeah, we were,” he replied, removing his hat and running his hand through his hair. Caums’ mouth went dry. He knew how soft that hair was. How it smelled.

“Well, that’s that, I suppose,” Lukas continued. “Sorry, again.” He turned to leave. Something broke in Camus’ chest.

“Hey,” he started. Lukas stopped at the doorknob, and turned back to look at him. Camus realized he didn’t really know where he was going from there. He just hadn’t wanted Lukas to leave.

“Maybe we should do that again?” he said, and then immediately panicked. “The, uh, hanging out thing, not the other thing.” Lukas laughed at that.

“I’d like that,” he said, and Camus was sure he imagined the flush on his cheeks. He turned again to leave, and Camus didn’t stop him this time.

Instead he closed shop early a few hours later and wandered the outskirts of town, trying to leave behind the wafting scent of herbs that filled his shop and the lingering memories that filled his head.
