I have a question about the giant rainbow cross thing from the hermetic order of the golden dawn if you have time: what is its purpose? it looks to be like a giant conglomerate of various religious iconography, but why was if developed that way?

I offer an empty room that I once lived in, a cat's whisker, and a 40-year-old tarot deck with the golden dawn cross on the back of each card.

Its sorta an esoteric-Christian counterpart to the Kabbalistic tree of life. The symbolism is fairly complex, but its basically a diagram of the nature of man, divinity, and creation at large.

Its a blend of christian, Cabbalistic, and hermetic iconography. If I remember correctly, the petals in the center themselves actually represent the paths of the sephirot tree, and the four sticky outy bits represent the four elements. The colors represent something too, but I forget what they mean.

This is Roselyn, the leader of the Control team. Roselyn is a former WARP Corp employee who decided to pursue something else that recently became a passion: slashing the shit out of monsters (and getting paid for it).

Roselyn is cold and unapproachable when you first meet her, but its mostly because she has a hard time unlearning the attitude she has while working in WARP Corp. You may occasionally see her chain smoking while working, or tell someone off for doing something incorrectly, whatever shes doing... you can tell that its caused by loneliness.

Say hello to Vera, one of the most careless and air headed agents that has ever graced this earth... and somehow managed to snag the title "Leader of the Information Team." Vera isn't that smart (and probably shouldn't be in the Information Team for that reason), but her strongest suit is with firearms, hoping that she can one day be as powerful as her father.

Vera is a wild card, no one knows what she's thinking nor what her next move could be. It doesn't help that she is RECKLESS with the magic bullet EGO, shooting magic bullets everywhere with no one making it out unscathed, its gotten to the point that she is considered the leading cause of death for clerks (Vera says otherwise).

Marinel is the leader of the Safety Team, and rightfully so. Although he suffers from emotional detachment, he tries to make it up with how he treats his co-workers and friends around him with no reason as to why. Because of his emotional detachment, he was gifted a Mini-Helper to emote for him by analyzing and predicting the way he talks.

Not much is known about him when it comes to personal affairs, as agents rarely see him do anything outside of work, and the times they do see him at work… he’s usually in a life or death situation. Marinel also suffers from amnesia, he isn’t sure what his true identity is… but whatever it is, he will still protect his team members from death.

And what is Emma% without Emma herself? The catalyst for this Lob Corp run herself, Emma has seen all… done all… and remembers all. One day, she hopes to use this knowledge to find her true self…

But she is also self centered and egotistical, believing that only her herself can see past the stars of the city, even becoming unpopular with multiple agents and Sephirot in the lower layers. Emma is cold hearted and knows that everyone around her is disposable, she trains them knowing full well that they will die sooner or later… but she knows that she will be the last person the manager will throw away, she is too important to be thrown away, she is “too perfect.”

Oh! This is Bella and Romi, The leaders of the Central Command Team! The reason why there's two of them is because managing a huge place by yourself is a draining and extremely difficult task.

Bella takes care of the upper part of the CC Team with an iron fist, she dislikes people not listening to her... but she's really selfless and would throw herself into dangerous situations if it meant that someone would appreciate her efforts as a team leader.

Normally this isn't an issue that our manager should care about... however, Bella's mental state is fragile, she craves praise and appreciation from others, even going as far to do things that shouldn't be humanly possible or should ever be done by a human, and she hides these desires out of fear that she would be judged.

Romi on the other hand, tends to the lower part of the CC Team with a gentle hand, he is very forgiving when it comes to people making mistakes, even offering them ways to help fix them. Romi dislikes doing suppression in the facility and would rather have people do the dirty work for him, it's not that he's lazy, its more of a mindset that he never broke out of.

Well… Romi never broke out of many habits ever since he got to L Corp, help from his coworkers were proven to be ineffective, and every attempt to find out why he acts this way has failed. There were also signs of him crying some… familiar weird green goo after wearing the black swan EGO, is that normal?

Mini-Capo is the leader (and therapist) of the Welfare Team, he is efficient at keeping his coworkers from going insane (while not batting an eye to The Horrors™️ himself) and causing a ruckus in the facility. Mini-Capo is a musician who loves music, and offers to lend an ear to his fellow employees.

What he doesn't know is that his current audience is not the same as the audience from the past, Mini-Capo has kept his old mindset for as long as he can remember, even (subtly) forcing it on other agents. Mini-Capo also believes that keeping a positive mindset no matter what is important to get through every day in this hell hole, even telling others to turn to toxic positivity.

Meet Minicry, the leader of the Disciplinary Team; and the former leader of the Mini-Agents. Minicry used to lead a small group of tiny agents for suppressions, slaughtering ordeals and abnormalities while also gaining a reputation amongst other employees. They believed that with everyone under their command, nothing bad will ever happen to them or to anyone else…

However, things took a turn for the worst when one of their team members had to be suppressed, killing half of the Mini-Agents. With most of their comrades dead and the other half no longer associating themselves with the team, Minicry suffered from survivors guilt, even believing that they’re a terrible leader and sacrificed their emotional health to become stronger.

Mini-Paradise is the most disliked agent AND leader amongst everyone in the facility; or in Emma's terms: "Mini-Paradise is a bitch ass motherfucker-" "Mini-Para is sadistic, manipulative, and a little piece of s**t, he has done nothing but f**k up our agents! Physically and Mentally!"

It's unknown how Mini-Para managed to be the most manipulative person in the facility, but his words can easily sway people into doing what he wants them to do, and when it doesn't go his way... Mini-Para can become aggressive really quickly. There was even a time when Mini-Para had to be suppressed, with him managing to kill multiple veterans and his own teammates… terrifying every single agent that has ever gotten hired ever since.

And for our final agent on this list is no other than Solace, the leader of the Architecture Team. Solace is nothing but a person who mourns everyone and everything who couldn’t keep up with time, she dreams of turning back the clock and changing the outcome of every decision everyone has made… not knowing that the same clock has left her behind in the past.

Solace hates being seen and prefers to be an observer, even utilizing the diffraction EGO to hide herself and eavesdrop on people. she hopes that one day she can save herself and everyone from this 50 day time loop, but for now… she looks at everyone with sadness, knowing that there is nothing she can do to change their fate.

toasty x MC ffxiv HCs

i haven’t made a tumblr post in years but i’m gonna write some ffxiv-centric HCs about blooming panic (and specifically toasty) bc SOMEONE has to. end game ffxiv references ahoy

he mains ast in raids but can play nin almost as well. they like jobs with intense burst windows followed by some breathing room until the next minute window comes up. they started as a bard, tho

they regularly bunny themselves in the middle of limsa

they used to be a fanta addict, but they’ve stuck w male viera since it released.

if MC is new to ffxiv, they’ll play pld in for their first time in duties. if he sees them standing in an AOE or not doing a mech, he’ll put intervention on them so he can take the damage for them

if MC starts as a tank, he’ll instead make sure that MC never dies during pulls. they make sure you know how to rotate your mitigation during pulls and that you always feel comfortable wall to wall pulling. final pull of mt. gulg go brrrrrrr

hell, if MC starts as a dps they’ll do their best to learn the job themselves so MC can ask them questions about the proper rotation

once MC has their bearings, he’ll play ast w them and spoil them w card buffs. it gets to a point where they reflexively give MC the cards w/o even looking at who it’s meant for. if MC raids w them, they have to focus on not giving MC all the cards

first time MC does praetorium, toasty is there mimicking all the cutscenes while they happen. SUCH DEVASTATION WAS NOT MY INTENTION

as soon as MC finishes ARR, they solo some ARR extremes w them so you have some shiny horse mounts to ride around on

if MC already played ffxiv, once toasty calms down from their excitement, they try to see if MC would ever raid w them. couples who prog UCOB together stay together owo

they do their best to show that they love MC not bc they play ffxiv, but that it's just a fantastic side benefit

honestly they’re excited to have someone to do dailies w. whomst amongst us doesn’t have a semi-inactive FC between patches

during weekly raid reclear night, MC will randomly message them “you’re cute” to try and fluster him mid-pull. this frequently succeeds and toasty’s static teases them relentlessly about it

MC knows better than to distract toasty during raid prog (gotta work for the clear!!), but sometimes they sneak up on him from behind while they afk in limsa to hug him and kiss his cheek

they joke about getting matching in-game names so often that MC doesn’t know if it’s a joke or not anymore

between patches, they sometimes play other MMOs like guild wars or ESO between patches, but they always return back to ffxiv. xyx tries to get them to play runescape to no avail

they joke that they were the inspiration for hythlodaeus’s hair. MC will try to make them jealous by saying how pretty zenos’s hair is

every so often, they gift MC random glams or mounts from the mogstation. what’s that? MC appreciated a random glam set on someone in limsa? it’s their’s. god they’re pretty.

also they’d play on primal and i cannot be convinced otherwise

i haven’t played an otome game in years and i played this one bc i play ffxiv. truly incredible shit. u cowards need to add “flow” from ffxiv to all ur toasty playlists. or maybe the sephirot theme to mix it up. tyfp o7

MEDITATING ON THE OMER?

A friend of mine, a dyed in the wool occultist, has been trying to get me deeper into the Hermetic Schools of Qabalah for years now. It’s no small task considering I’m a wrap the tefillin around my arm and head praying the shema before meditating on the sephirot Kabbalist. Maybe AMORC ruined Western esotericism for me. Or maybe Qabalah belongs with Cabala- I do not recognize gnostic strands of Kabbalah because I know the history of mystic understanding and can promise you Yehoshua taught a form of Merkhabah- chariot mysticism, not what our modern minds call Kabbalah. (Revelations is literally a merkhabah midrash)

Moving on, the homie is a dedicated occultist and came across this lovely book written by Mark Horn called Tarot The Gates of Light. (Like Sha’are Orah? Certainly not Gikatillla) It’s so heretically fun to read. I love the author’s personality and respect for his Jewish tradition, albeit, an incredibly unorthodox view of said tradition. He’s connected the sephirot to the Tarot deck via a system of meditation on the cards loosely based on the Omer. So, my friend and I are about to work through the 49 day practice and see how well the systems internalize.

If any of you have any experience with this work please feel free to comment. It’s such a blended piece of literature so let’s get into the blending together a bit

My family is my TREASURE! I would do fucking ANYTHING to protect my brother so you sit right the fuck down and shut your goddamn mouth!! I also don't have the blood of exploited people on my hands! 'Oh wah, Capernica was mean to me so it's time to compare her to the worst garbage people on this planet!'" She breathed, clearly enraged as the tears returned to her face. "You do not have the RIGHT to say those words to me, bitch. If there's one goddamn thing I'll give you, it's that your family is worse than you are."

Sit down. Sit down. Calm down. Shut up. She pressed her hands to the side of her head. "Stop trying to play the fucking victim card. Being the victim of abuse does not absolve you of your wrongdoings. You're still responsible for your own actions. You're pretending to be the better fucking person here, but ignoring the fact that your birthright isn't the only reason I hate you. I hate you because of what you do with it. Complacency is still guilt. Nice to know you completely ignored my criticisms to your personality and try to make it seem like you've done nothing wrong in your goddamn life. It's disgusting and manipulative, and don't think I can't see through that shit." She plopped back down to the couch, returning to a more level vocal tone.

"Never. Ever compare me to them again. I have not abused you. I have been nice to you, despite how much I hate your guts. Pointing out that you're not an uwu baby like people treat you is not the same thing as tormenting you so sit the fuck down. Here, let me spell out what makes you so shitty, then." Capernica whipped out her phone and began to read a prompt. "The question was, 'what do you expect to inherit and what do you plan to do with it?"

"If I outlive him, I am likely to inherit my father's fortune. That's about two and a half billion euros. He's... Well off. I don't really know what I'll do with it. I know I'll also get majority share of his company, but I will likely sell that. I just wish to be safe. Somewhere far from everything or everyone that wants to hurt me... So, maybe find another bunker to look myself up in and spend my life making music. Or... Perhaps getting revenge on my siblings."

She stared, glaring daggers at Willow. "Do you hear the problem here? A billionaire. You'd be a billionaire and you want to sit on that money on your ass and do nothing with it. You have no idea what kind of fucking power that holds. You literally can solve world hunger with that much money. And your greedy ass only wants to hoard it like a dragon sitting on a treasure pile. That's the biggest part of you that's vile. Abhorrent. Despicable. You're a goddamn children's movie villain. 'Pennyless,' hah!"

A pause. "And obviously Sorano-sama is my closest friend among the players. So don't come to me and whine about me being like this with everyone rich. It's just with the ones like you."

As Aurora approached her, babbling words Capernica couldn't understand, well... somehow, her tone of voice at least got through to her that this was an attempt at comfort. At kindness. The language barrier was rough, but sometimes that sentiment was enough. With a confused expression she took the stuffed dog and held it to her chest, giving it a squeeze. She needed to put herself in emotional time-out for a moment. Cappy closed her eyes and focused on breathing.

As Kei threatened Sephirot, she snapped her eyes open and locked eyes with her. "... Kei-sama, take my advice when I say you don't want to do that. It would be wise of you not not attack Sorano-sama. And not just because you'd have to answer to me. This goes beyond my personal opinion." She frowned, her tone soft.

She squeezed the dog in her arms. "I've never worn the wig around Rafe-sama. There hadn't really been an occasion to wear any of them other than my usual, since I tend to bring them out for things like parties or shows. They're a bit of a comfort item for me, as well, so I tend to not wear them willy-nilly."

THE TAROT OF THOTH

A fellow Frater and I have been carrying on the same conversation for several years now. I’ve always adhered very strictly to the roots of Jewish mysticism when it comes to, let’s call them spheres, and only study hermeticism as it relates to Christianized Alchemy? (Not sure that describes it) Anyways, he’s passed through several degrees in several occult schools over the years and is devastatingly Thelemic in his approach.

I have always viewed Qabalah as an abomination of Jewish mystics and studied/applied Abulafia, Gikatellia, and Maimonides to my understanding of Rav Yeshuas instruction. Naturally, I am woefully ignorant of Crowley and Thelemists in general. Like I come from a magickal family- Father followed the old gods of Ireland, sisters read tarot for 20+ years, mothers an old school acolyte with a completely different take- I should have studied western esotericism fiercely. But I didn’t. My meditations are Jewish, my prayers Aramaic. My understanding “God is, nothing else exists.”

*it’s worth noting I don’t consider AMORC to be a fount of quabbalistic wisdom. They’re more armchair occultists slaving themselves out every time they enter their sanctum- someday I’ll elaborate on that.

Unfortunately, that’s a blind considering most of the people who read these posts are drawn to the alchemical aspects that I’ve “Christianized.” (Again, not sold on the word.) Yeshua is a master alchemist to me. I don’t know, His entire story in the Gospels just reads like the Great Work and I can’t shake that Christian Rosenkreutz approach because it gave me relationship with Sophia. Relationship with Logos became an inner guide and meditators end up in all sorts of places we can’t describe. I’d have gotten lost a million times I’ve the Bridal Chamber wasn’t the heart of my path.

Turns out, Crowley’s Gnostic Mass leads to that exact level of understanding. It’s something that can’t be taught. It’s why Teresa of Avila wrote the Interior Castle. It’s why the Hasidic teacher I studied under calls her work the best explanation of Hekhalot a Christian mystic ever wrote. Crowley’s work fits into that same narrative from a completely different approach. It just happens to be one I’ve never even considered.

Aside from reading everything attributed to Hermes Trismegistus, Dion Fortune, Cornelius Agrippa, and dissecting The Book of the Law because the ka is explained I know very little about “Magick.” (Not sold on that word either, but labels bother me in general.)

Anyways, all this came about because of my personal pathwork… Revelation- John describes his meditation unfolding in chapter 1:9-20 in this world of symbolism that goes well beyond “Christian” understanding. The 6 jars at the Wedding at Cana, the 7th left behind by the High Priestess(Samaritan Woman) at Jacobs well screams “pay attention to the twin flames of hermeticism and Kabbalah!”

So, deck is here. Introductory course from OTO initiate was included. It’ll be months, maybe years, of meditating on the symbols Crowley placed on the cards before I’ll even pretend to be able to extract the hidden symbolism from the most esoteric epistles of scripture. But… I am expanding my understanding and opening myself up to aspects of the path I’ve ignored.

It’s doubtful I’ll ever use the deck for divination- thats for people who couldn’t divine the entrails of animals if they needed too. Thanks Dad! 😂 but I can see myself doing readings on the aspects of the gospel that are so obviously related to the sephirot it needs to happen.
