Happy birthday to Field Master Parg Vol!

Today is his -458th birthday!

Vol served the Covenant until its dissolution in 2552. After the Covenant's fracture, multiple splinter groups appeared. His presumed relative, Merg Vol, created one such group, which Parg joined as an assassin and arms dealer.

After Merg Vol was killed by Spartan Sarah Palmer, his faction fell apart, and Parg joined Jul 'Mdama's Covenant to continue the campaign against humanity. Four years later, while serving 'Mdama on Requiem, he was targeted and killed by Spartan-IV fireteam Crimson.

Lore Thursday — Vale Citadel

The Vale Citadel was a key location on the shield world of Requiem. The Forerunner known as the Librarian left an imprint of herself in the facility, allowing her to prepare John-117 to confront the Ur-Didact in 2557.

In 2558, Jul 'Mdama became interested in accessing the Librarian's imprint, though its interface only allowed Dr. Halsey to communicate with the Librarian. Halsey was given the Janus Key, which reveals the real-time location of every piece of Forerunner technology in the galaxy.

in honor of 413 and commander palmer's birthday both being today, i bring you cringe, your honor

doodles of spartan ops crew trolls. ignorable longwinded logic below the cut for your convenience

overall notes: their symbols were all pulled from the hiveswap extended zodiac, and palmer just so happened to pull true aries as well.

troll society and halo society (particularly spartans) also really seem to neatly map on to each other in a lot of ways. sci-fi society raising children specifically to feed to the intergalactic war machine meat grinder, anyone? anyway, their blood colors also fit pretty well with the character that had establish color connections, all spartans would be low blood soldiers

character specific: palmer got true aries on the extended zodiac, gave her rust in the first place to keep the red on her suit

roland being yellow is literally perfect, hes still in charge of the ship, but in a more literal way now, having filled the typical yellow castes duty of 'telekenetic space ship battery', hes a real prodigy to keep something as vast as the infinity moving

lasky gets blue as an higher blood thats still just a cog in the greater machine

miller (remember good friend spartan jared miller? from spartan ops? no? ok...) also gets another very low blood ranking, being a spartan. his suit also has coppery colors in it already, woohoo!

Yay, I finished Halo 4 Spartan Ops! And let me tell you, I finished it on Normal because you cannot pay me enough to play 50 levels of this on Legendary. No way.*⬇ I have never in my (admittedly limited) gaming life seen such a tremendous disparity between the difficulty of Normal and Heroic as Spartan Ops has. I tried for an achievement requiring Heroic and, frens? I literally had Promethean Knights raining down on my head. Literally spawning in and landing on my head while I was being attacked by other Knights, Crawlers and Watchers *shakes fist* from all sides.

I was therefore not surprised to learn that Spartan Ops is intended for up to 4 players at a time so therefore the enemies are set for you to be a team of 4. Even when you’re playing solo.

That was the singular most awful Halo game experience I’ve ever had. And that’s counting the week and a half it took me to beat the Halo 2 Regret boss battle on Legendary.

Anyway, here’s “Wonderwall” what my Spartan Ops character looks like!

Aren’t I pretty in purple and teal? 😎😉 Despite being Fireteam Crimson (all by my lonesome), I didn’t go with red since that’s the color of my fem!Six’s Mjolnir. And yes, the skull visor is an homage to Emile, whom I love. 😉

Seriously, though, every time somebody in game announced that Fireteam Crimson had arrived, I wished it would show me jumping out of the Pelican all alone and everybody else looking like, “Um, that’s the Fireteam? The entire Fireteam???” 👀

*Until I get sad enough because I’ve finished all of the rest of the MCC and decide to try Heroic and/or Legendary and see if I can grind through them and get the achievements for completing them. You actually get two for Legendary, one for completing it and one for completing it solo. 😐  Because it will be A PILL to complete solo. But I’m contrary that way, what can I tell you? 🤷‍♀️😉

Happy birthday to Gek 'Lhar!

Today is his -476th birthday!

Following the end of the Human-Covenant war, Gek and his team of salvagers began working for Jul 'Mdama. They were tasked with securing weapons and ships to arm his new faction.

During a salvage mission, Gek and his crew ambushed salvager Ram Chalva and his crew, taking him prisoner and torturing him. Later, Gek would take his crew to the abandoned ship Radiant Perception to retrieve a log buoy rumored to be aboard. However, Rion Forge and her crew were also on the ship, seeking the same thing.

Gek released Ram to force the humans out of hiding and pursued them out of the system. He and Rion's crew fought in the debris field outside of the shield world Trove, where Gek killed Rion's crewmate and partner, taking his dog tags and adding them to his collection. Rion maimed Gek in the encounter, causing him to go blind in one eye. Gek left the system when Rion threatened to kill them both with a grenade. Following these events, he and the Ace of Spades crew became mortal enemies.

Rion discovered Gek's plot to commit a terrorist attack on Earth, and, despite her shaky relationship with ONI, sent Spartan Novak a warning. As a result, Gek was ambushed and taken into custody at Midnight Facility. At some point, he escaped, and left to join 'Mdama on Requiem.

Gek was put in charge of 'Mdama's human prisoner, Dr. Henry Glassman, who managed to escape with Gek in pursuit. Glassman ran into Fireteam Majestic, who had been tasked to rescue him. 'Lhar engaged the Spartan team, nearly killing Gabriel Thorne before being killed by Paul DeMarco. After his death, Majestic took a page from Gek's book and looted his body.

My God, this line has lived rent free in my head since Halo 4 came out.

Imagine the possibilities here!

What is that like, for all the people involved? How did the former Covenant get to Earth and seek asylum? How many are there? Other than humans and Sangheili, what species are represented there? How was a Sangheili able to steal a HAVOK nuke? Did that operation involve SPARTANS running through neighborhoods like it was the OG Modern Warfare 2 favela missions? Are any of the aliens hot? Are any of them cute & breedable?

Just like Anvil Station, you've set up awesome world building and done NOTHING with it! When you showed alien-human interactions in Legacy of Onyx, it was brilliant! Give us more, I beg you!
