BOOKS I LOVE #1 - Discover The 4 Seasons By Susanne Riha

I’ve been thinking lately and wanted to post more about what inspires me, so I decided to create a series of blog posts titled “Books I Love“. I think it will be very easy for me to write about something I really love and am passionate about: books, illustrated books.

I’ve already shared one of my favorite books here and I believe this blog should share more inspiration so I am sharing with you another favorite book of mine.

I have purchased this lovely book one year ago at a book fair organized in my hometown, in Romania. I just couldn’t walk by with empty hands after seeing this beauty. The author is Susanne Riha and the book shares beautiful images about seasons. If you don’t know me, I have to tell you that I am deeply in love with this topic: nature, animals, seasons ... So I truly felt Susanne Riha created this book really just for me! The hand drawn illustrations speak more than what words can say, and I really love the fact that this book is 90% illustrations and 10% text.

It somehow reminds me of my childhood, when I spent lot of time outdoors, before the internet really took over. I truly feel lucky I was one of those people who spent their childhood without internet and that I can cherish those memories, when all I had was: school, spring breaks, summer holidays, winter holidays, free time, a big garden and my dreamy thoughts. It also reminds me of my first attempts of creating landscape illustrations more seriously, when I was little. I feel these memories are deep inside of us and they will always be. Even if we live in this era of high technology and social media, I know that some of us still feel deep appreciation for our lovely nature, for what it can give us and we still remember those sweet memories from our childhood, being kids and just playing freely.

The book shares interesting facts about nature and animals - how they behave and live while seasons change. It’s very lovely!

I love to see books like this, with so much work and attention to details. Having a book so lovely like this on your shelf makes you feel like you own a treasure!
