Sylvester Oreon III is a Claytonian sent to Palette to keep tabs on the main cast after Chloe, eh, blew up the sun. He got hired by ICT entirely by accident, but his higher ups on the moon are forcing him to stay in Dullsville until the threat is neutralized.
Sylvie’s the height of professionalism, for a given definition of “height”. Given that he’s basically a genius and is strong enough to jerk the others around like dolls, you’d think he’d be the single most rational person on the planet, and he probably is, but since he’s ludicrously polite, he tends to assume everyone on Palette is like this and thus goes along with whatever Violet says.
Granted, he’s not entirely wrong.
Fun Facts
Sylvester’s name is a pun on “silver”, while his surname is derived from a portmanteau of “Oreo” and the constellation Orion. Ironically, he’s the first character to have his name derived from a trademarked sweet despite being an alien.
Sylvester’s design is derived from the archetypal grey alien.
Sylvester in his resting size is the shortest character introduced in Season One by a ludicrously wide margin.
Sylvester is one of the few characters to revert to a previous design during development. In the jump to ICT, he was meant to grow from his usual height and proportions to one of the tallest characters (as shown above, with Skye and Tanner for comparison). He ultimately reverted to his design with pupils from RS’ mid-late Season Two (not pictured), with the addition of sunglasses.
Sylvester is the only non-Drewman of the main cast, being Claytonian, hence his lack of an outline.
Sylvester speaks with Received Pronunciation, hence most of his dialogue being spelt with the British English spellings, right down to his own color (“grey” instead of “gray”) and the series title (“It’s Colour Theory”).
Sylvester is the only Season One ICT member to still be an adult in his RS incarnation.
Sylvester’s shades, specifically the light reflections, tend to follow his eye movements.
Sylvester was originally designed as a villainous character, having a drab color scheme and hating the brightly colored inhabitants of Dullsville, akin to a Nixel. Noah and Whitney rendered this idea pointless, and he was lightened up into “merely” being a jerk before becoming an outright heroic character in Rough Sketch and It’s Color Theory.
Sylvester was also designed as a foil to Gordon. Sylvester is dull grey and named after silver, Gordon’s bright yellow and named after gold. Sylvester’s design heavily incorporates circles, Gordon’s incorporates squares. Gordon towers over the cast, Sylvester could fit in one’s hand. Gordon has beady eyes and eyebrows bigger than them, Sylvester also has beady eyes, but his shades mimic the effect of big eyes and he’s one of the only characters to lack eyebrows on his resting face.
Sylvester, during RS, was the first character to receive full voice acting, having two voices provided by me and laid over each other. One was deep and growly (Syl’s natural voice) and one higher pitched (modulated over his usual voice). Season Two went back and forth between the deep voice and the two voices. In ICT, he lacks the voice entirely.
Sylvester is my favorite character design of the Season One cast.
Sylvester’s clay based body can cause a lot of impact damage to the drawn landscape of Dullsville, so he doesn’t really need any of his combat training on Palette. This irritates him.
One of many things I like about Total Drama’s art style is the use of facial lines in the cast’s more exaggerated expressions, especially among the Killer Bass.
As you can imagine, Total Drama is a major inspiration behind my style.
Sylvester Oreon is a Claytonian. While the Drewmans are living drawings, Sylvie’s made of clay and is therefore much stronger than the rest of the cast. Likewise, he has a similarly serious demeanor.

So, remember Color Theory? It’s undergoing a reboot. All characters introduced up until this point, the one’s intended for Season Four, and a slew of newbies will appear, but some may have different names and some slight design tweaks. The 25 characters as seen above are the main cast.
I’m trying to tackle a more serialized episode structure rather than the comic strip format from beforehand. Asks are still open, see the pinned post for the rules.
