Okay so I don’t actually know the canon relationship Tholme and Quinlan had before he was old enough to leave the creche, but I’m not gonna lie I think that since they both knew he was gonna be Tholme’s Padawan, if not officially yet (tho he could technically officially take him as one as young as 7 while keeping him in-temple till old enough to leave) I think it would occasionally be fitting for Tholme’s many undercover outfits if he could comm a specific line in the temple and have a parent/child convo with Quinlan about Quinlan’s schooling and how good he’s being for his mother (this could be anything from his clan master to if he’s being a pest to T’ra Saa which is always) and tbh it would be a sort of adorable type of cover because he could be like ‘what no my kid is six he’s interested in staying up past bedtime and his best friend’ when someone tries to accuse him of having a padawan or something. They ask for photo proof and he hands them a picture of Quin grinning all big and eager with a grumpy Obi-Wan in an equally grumpy Tholme’s arms all of them covered in glitter and glue and he’s all ‘that was their most recent sleepover. I swear I still blow my nose and glitter comes out’ and it’s just funny for absolutely no reason for me. If someone points out his kid is Kiffar he’s gotta be like ‘no shit my wife is a tree we can’t make babies together man, we went out and grabbed one one day’ and for some reason this is just hilarious to me. Absolute antics.

Mace Windu’s Optimism
Mace Windu is often derided by much of the fanbase, but I want to bring up a quote by his former master in the old EU, T’ra Saa.
In the Jedi: Mace Windu comic, Mace is feeling regret about his choices and how they potentially led Depa and Quinlan Vos to the dark side, and T’ra reminds him that everyone makes their own choices but also says this:
“You see things with hope in your eyes. You believe that given a true choice, people will choose the light. That is your flaw and your strength.”
Personally I think this gets to who mace really is deep down, beyond the stoic face that he has to put on as a leader of the jedi, I think Mace is a deeply kind and caring person. He wants to believe that people are inherently good, even if experience might have shown him that’s not really the case.
Which is of course sad in a way, as in the Revenge of the Sith Novel, during his duel with Sidious, Mace told Anakin to do his duty as the chosen one. Mace died believing that Anakin would do the right thing.

May The Fourth ficlet
Mace knows that his attachment to the Republic is a problem, now that he has memories of becoming a soldier to defend the Republic, only to learn that the Republic has been rotten at the core for a long time.
The Sith Lord being Chancellor was a pretty obvious sign that the Republic was failing.
But now Mace has received a second chance, and he thinks he, Kit, Agen, and Saesee are taking full advantage of this second chance.
Darth Sidious is dead, and Darth Plagueis, or Hego Damask is now in hiding, having had his life ruined by being publicly exposed as a Sith.
Mace volunteered for this mission, which will keep him on Tannalor for over a decade specifically so he could let go of his attachment to the Republic.
He looks over to the other Masters accompanying him on this mission; Shaak Ti, K’Kruhk, and the Master who trained him, T’ra Saa.
The HT-2200 Medium Freighter is fully loaded with everything they will need for the next ten years, and now Mace is waiting with the other Masters for the Younglings to arrive.
He knows Anakin Skywalker is still be vulnerable to the Sith, and to being corrupted by politicians, even at the Temple on Coruscant, so Anakin will have to be hidden somewhere the Sith won’t think to look.
And the most remote Temple the Jedi have is on Tannalor.
Finally, Crechemaster Tasmi Teeri walks into the hangar, carrying the youngest of the Initiates, one year old Barriss Offee.  Anakin and Darra are strapped into a repulsorlift stroller floating ahead of Tasmi since they are both two years old.  While the two oldest Initiates in the Clan, three year old Tru Veld and four year old Ferus Olin, are walking beside her.
Since Anakin can’t know about the Prophecy until he is ready, and because he needs proper socialization with other children close in age to him, the official story for why these Younglings are going to be raised on Tannalor is that all five of the Younglings are targets of the Sith Lord Darth Plagueis, so they are being sent to a hidden Temple for their own safety.
Mace sees Tasmi handing Barriss to Shaak, which makes Barriss begin to cry “Tasi! Tasi!”  That makes Anakin and Darra also start crying.
Mace knows this will be a very long trip to Tannalor.

For the "what reminds your followers of you" thing....
Definitely anything praising the man, the BAMF, the legend himself....Mace Windu.
YOU ALREADY KNOW WHAT IT IS
I just think that Mace.
He deserves the world - no - the GALAXY over. He’s been a bastion of Jedi principle and I’ll be damned if someone tries to pry him from my cold dead hands.
He’s one of those characters that I feel like someone threw into SW for affirmative action and then they didn’t realize people actually liked him, so they just give him barebones crumbs and the literal minimum? And it sucks seeing a lot of people just - okay with that, not wanting to change that. We get little on his Master, who certainly would have imparted her own views on him. There’s no continuity on WHO his master is between T’ra Saa and Cyslin Myr, or why he is recorded as having two.
Don’t get me started on Shatterpoint I beg. Ohhh my God I can’t believe a book makes me so happy and then simultaneously lets me down- ANYWHO
Mace 💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜💜
One day when I look at TCW harder again I’ll drop his life shenanigans on yall <3

glow off the pavement
For the Soulmate AU square for @obiquinbingo
There was a black ring on the centre of Quinlan’s back. It was small, the standard size. Sometimes he’d step out of the shower and look at the ring on his dark skin and wonder. He was 26 now. He’d spent his childhood hearing stories of how Tholme and T’ra Saa had met, and their various friends. He’d often imagined what his own soulmate would be like, but then he met Aayla. Raising a child didn’t leave much room for wishful thinking, and by now he was content with his life. He’d had boyfriends, flings, one-night stands. His life was complete.
*******************************
“Good morning Quinlan,” Siri shouted as she came storming through the backroom.
Quin mourned the loss of peace and quiet. He put down the cloth and turned to face Siri. Today, her hair had pink streaks through it and she was wearing an apron with a giant cupcake on it, a total eyesore.
“No need to be so loud,” Quinlan groaned, rubbing his temples.
“Poor baby,” Siri said, voice in mock sympathy, and patted him on the shoulder, “Was someone out too late last night?”
She moved to switch on the ovens, grabbing the bakery batch for the day.
“Aayla had a project that needed to be done all for today, that they’d apparently only gotten yesterday,” Quinlan rolled his eyes, “As if I couldn’t see the date of the assignment. She wanted to go to this craft store, and then that one didn’t have the right stuff, so we had to go to the next and then the next,” Quinlan sighed, “She better get an A+ on this project.”

Chapter 17 Commentary
Destiny Can Wait - Chapter 17: Ancient History
I wanted to post this chapter before the Obi-Wan Kenobi series started streaming but I got stuck on some scenes. It was actually 90% done for some time.
I just had to figure out the dialogue logistics with T’ra Saa because it’s a big info dump.  Also, the conversation with Qui-Gon wasn’t working and it was going off topic. So I’ll alter it and save it for another chapter. And I left this one on a cliffhanger.
T’ra Saa has been meditating for some months because she’s unaware of who Avel is. Quinlan would have told her so they have not seen each for some time. (Quinlan and Avel were both Dooku’s acolytes.)
I’m a fan of the Republic comics that features Quinlan, Khaleen, T’ra and Tholme, but I don’t remember every detail about the characters.
I read on Wookieepedia that her species, Neti, can shapeshift.  It also mentioned a hibernation trance and Neti could survive indefinitely in an area without natural sunlight and rain.  So I decided to use that to write some cool visuals of T’ra meditating under a canopy of trees in a forest and then shapeshifting back into a human.
Other fun stuff:
1) I realized too late that I misspelled Ossus. I added an s at the end and I am not going back to change it all. It’s Ossuss in my fan fiction.
2) The way that Ferus sliced into the computer files is a contrast to the way Anakin did because Ferus left not trace and Anakin left clues by looking for a Sith Lord.
3) Did you catch the names from Jurassic Park? I thought it would be a funny shout out.
4) The bar tender is Ackmena, who was played by Bea Arthur, from the 1978 The Star Wars Holiday Special.  I’ve never seen it except for clips on YT.

The Shatterpoint Lineage is the gold standard of what a lineage should be. Caring, respectful, dedicated and patient. They are always close as they can be, and caring to each other.
The head of the lineage, T’ra Saa is cool great grandma that shows Caleb coolest plants and tells him as well as his Master when she was a Padawan amazing stories. She may not be there all the time because she prefers wandering the galaxy, but when she is there, she always tries making up for lost time.
Mace does amazing voices for stories as he has a good voice for it. He also does it for younglings in the Archives to give Madame Nu a break. The kids love interacting.
Whenever Master Saa returns, she returns with the most interesting gifts for her Padawan, Grandpadawan and Great Grandpadawan. They are usually anything from a book to a really cool rocks or plants. She gets Caleb cool toys because she’s the hip Grandmsater, who is over seven hundred but still looks fine as ever.
The golden standard lineage is the Shatterpoint Lineage, and I love them.

In light of the prior post about Hanahaki, I had another thought - Star Wars based, of course. What if Hanahaki - chronic or otherwise - wasn’t an illness, but instead a normal biological function?
Say, of a tree-type being? Like a Neti. It’s not even weird, just a mood-ring type ability that those who are in the know might notice. Though that does lead in...interesting directions.
Imagine, if you will, Master Tholme has just returned to the Temple after a long, annoying mission. He enters his quarters, only to find his former student Quinlan Vos is spinning around in a chair as the lights go on, lacking only a cat to complete the ‘gotcha!’ moment.
(This happened a lot during the Padawan years, so Tholme doesn’t even try to skewer him.)
Tholme: Quin? I thought you were off on a mission
Vos: I heard you were coming in so I delayed my departure. Look, whatever argument you and Master Saa are having, please resolve it.
Tholme, genuinely baffled: We’re not arguing
Vos, giving him an absolutely withering look: You’ve been off planet for over a MONTH, and I’ve spent the last week watching her cough up space!lilies. Which she only does if you’re fighting.
Tholme: I honestly have no idea – wait. Did you say space!lilies?
Vos: Yeah. And we’re not talking ‘sprouting in her hair’ either, it’s full fledged horking up enough for Force-damned bouquets. She’s starting to scare the Initiates  –
Tholme, looking like he’s this close to throttling Quinlan: Were they blue?
Vos: What?
Tholme: The space!lilies, were they blue?
Vos, leaning back and suddenly getting weirded out: Nnoo, they were orangey-red. Why, does it matter?
T’ra Saa, letting herself in: Blue means we’re fighting. Orange means there’s going to be angry wall sex. I’m going to raw him so hard that –
Vos, talking loudly over her as he jumps to his feet and scampers towards the door: AND I’ll just be going on that mission now!
T’ra: – for a week. Lock the door behind you.

New Jedi Order: The Old Masters
Purge Survivors, those who remember a time before the Empire, before the Dark Times. A lot of them are actually very hands off, content to let the new generation do their work.
Anakin Skywalker: Didn’t become Palpatine’s apprentice or slaughter the Jedi at the Temple, but did cut off Mace’s hand, and promptly passed out from shock. Has plastic surgery so he looks relatively normal, and honestly just hangs around and fixes the Order’s ships. Dies 21 ABY, becoming one with the Force to prevent Palpatine’s second attempted resurrection, saving his youngest granddaughter, Shmi, in the process.
Obi-Wan Kenobi: Unfortunately dies in 10 ABY, his adventures and various injuries (especially those caused by Palpatine & C’Boath) finally running him down. Sassmaster to the end. Proves ghosts can cry when Mara names her and Luke’s firstborn after him (Obi Wan, Ben is actually a nickname). Basically became Yoda in his last years.
Ahsoka Tano: Cool aunt, later cool grandma of the Order, and operates the Order’s unofficial intelligence network, which she later hands off to Mara Jade. Ben’s master alongside Cal Kestis. Joins the fighting during the Yuuzhan Vong War and might have to be physically restrained to keep her from fighting the First Order (though there’s a large section of the Jedi who think they shouldn’t bother).
Soaring Hawkbat Clan: Led by K’khruk and Chase Piru, a small community of Force more beholden to the old Jedi’s ways, and somewhat estranged from the much more reformed New Jedi Order. Comes back into the fold during the YZV War, with both K’khruk and Piru serving on the Naboo Council by 38 ABY.
T’ra Saa: A Neti Jedi, taken up exile on a remote world following her husband’s death, but returned to the wider galaxy after being discovered by her lineage descendant, Ezra Bridger. Embarrassing Grandma for Ezra, Pypey, Barratk’l, Jacen and Korto Vos. Sacrifices her life to allow the Jedi to escape the Yuuzhan Vong siege of Yavin 4 in 26 ABY.
Ikrit: A Jedi who served with the Order during the High Republic, who went into a state of prolonged Force Hibernation on Yavin 4, completely circumventing the Jedi Purge. Would be awoken in 20 ABY by Anakin Solo and Tahiri Veila, the former xey would take as xer official Padawan. Would give xer life to allow both xer pupils to escape the siege of Yavin 4, breaking a centuries long vow of pacifism to hold off a team of Slayer Vong and drawing fire from Peace Brigade.
Tallisibeth Enwandung-Esterhazy “Scout”: A member of the Fulcrum intelligence network in the Rebellion, who re-founds the Antarian Rangers following the foundation of the New Jedi Order, and would weather the YZV War before retiring to serve as a mentor and advisor at the Ossus Jedi Temple.
Cere Junda: Cal’s second master, gets in debates with Obi-Wan and Anakin. Forever grateful she lived long enough to new the Jedi born anew. Dies peacefully in 23 ABY. Tionne’s informal teacher and responsible for training new searchers.
-----Old Jedi who didn’t rejoin, yet still stayed close-----
Katooni Muwal: Lucky enough to have escaped Operation: Knightfall, unlucky to be the only escapee to have outlasted the Empire. She would find herself with her old friend Hondo Ohnaka, eventually becoming his right hand...up until she ousted him (he couldn’t be prouder). The Pirate Queen would eventually join the New Republic as a privateer against the Empire and the Yuuzhan Vong, and flirt with the idea, but never commit to, going straight, including trading an apprentice by the name of Sidon Ithano...
Oppo Rancisis: Laying low on the planet he was on during Order 66, by the time of the NJO’s foundation, had found a place in the re-established Church of the Whills, alongside people like Lor San Tekka. Would be a keystone member of the Great River underground refugee network during the YZV War, finally dying at peace on Zenoma Sekot in 32 ABY.
Barriss Offee: Jedi, Sith, healer, killer, damned, redeemed. Barriss’ journey has been a long and fraught one, and her journey to the Light has revealed ugly truths about herself. Yet she continues on, a wandering healer and holy woman, close with the NJO yet following her own path, her only desire to help the downtrodden and heal the sick.
Asajj Ventress: Ventress’ adventures during the reign of the Empire would remain unknown, but by 20 ABY, she would return to the valley of the Nightsisters, maintaining a solemn vigil over her dead people and exploring the Force. Such vigil would be broken, repeatedly, by members of the NJO, until she resigned herself to helping the next one before they began begging.

The fact that Obi-Wan canonly makes buddies with kryat dragons and dinosaurs is just too precious. I bet that as a padawan he would sneak tookas into his rooms only for them to try and eat one of Qui-Gon’s plants and get banished to the pet friendly gardens and next week he’s trying to sneak home a nexus cub in his robes (‘no master this isn’t a cub!!!! I’m pregnant that’s why I’m fat stop pointing it out!!!’) or running around rural markets and letting the monkey lizards out of their cages and tbh??? I bet that sometimes he just comes back to the temple with eggs. Not for breakfast (he’ll fight Yoda or Grogu if they don’t stop lookin at his egg babies like that) but ones he can hatch. He steals Qui-Gon’s expensive plant lights and builds the kiddos a nest and hatches out the WEIRDEST shit ever.
consider: AU where Grogu’s egg was one of those finds and now Grogu thinks Obi is his dad cause no one’s seen an egg for his species since Yoda was a kid and everyone one week ago was all ‘PADAWAN KENOBI STOP BRINGING HOME DANGEROUS EGGS TO HATCH THE LAST ONE TRIED TO EAT MASTER YODA’ and now they’re all ‘Padawan Kenobi. You may keep bringing home eggs. But. Where the fuck did you even find this one???’ So they’re okay with it now, but this is big. This is even bigger than last year (the REASON they freak out when he brings home a new egg) when he was all ‘it’ll be fine’ and then Boga was born and she follows Obi cause that’s her mama but she’s growing and one day she’s gonna be the size of a car and they’re all nervous about that day.
Grogu gets spoiled with raw foods, belly rubs, belly kisses, and riding around on Boga’s back with a lil baby harness. Which is okay, till Boga decides she wants to try climbing walls and the baby Gets A Frighten.
Imagine Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon not being sent to Mandalore because Grogu is 3 and teething and bites everyone and refuses to be good for anyone but daddy and grandpa and Boga tried to eat Neti Jedi Master T’ra Saa when she was making leaves one week and so they need to teach both babies manners and he’s got a million pathetic small creatures clambering all over him whenever he enters any of the gardens and then he starts having visions.
See. 19 yo Obi hasn’t had visions like this in a while. About 3 years in fact. He had a lot of visions of sand a few years ago but he just figured maybe Grogu was meant to end up on a sandy planet one day (maybe, cause Din WILL be his main caregiver later, but the empire doesn’t happen in this AU, but Din is just gonna be one of the many pathetic lifeforms Obi comes home with one day) and played it off to focus on his new baby.
But now the visions won’t stop, and Qui is getting all harumphy over his lack of concentration, so Qui gathers up Obi, Grogu, Boga, and a particularly clingy tooka that’s decided Obi is her mom, into a ship and plays a galaxy wide game of hot and cold with his kiddo to figure out who they’re looking for.
They find 4yo Anakin, recently won in a bet with his mother, and free them both. They bring them both back to the temple, and Ani is young enough to happily be accepted into the creche, and the council doesn’t even attempt to disuade Obi from moving Shmi into the temple. She’s so confused and spends a lot of time petting cats while Ani is in classes. But she likes it here. It’s nice. A lizard gives her kisses. And a weird little mutant frog thing.
Anyways. Thanks.

So I was reading Heartlines (again) and I was just wondering,,,, on a scale from T’ra Saa to Jon Antilles, how badly will Ferus make Kix want to tear his hair out?
Hmm, probably a solid Mace Windu? Does get hurt, submits to medical attention when he should, but also tries to drag himself up off his hospital bed to try and do his duty even when he's too injured to manage it.

🍟: What does your OC admit to be their guilty pleasure? What actually is their guilty pleasure?
🍪: What is something that's sentimental to you OC?
🍋: What is your OC's most painful memory?
for any of your ocs <3 or all!
YOU ARE AMAZING HI
🍟: I’ll answer this for my Jedi guy (gn) Imonho Myni, a Mirialan Pilot - who will become Anakin’s Master. After a long while of being haggled about what he gets into while he’s hiding out in the Mid or Outer Rim, he’ll just throw out that his guilty pleasure is just finding all the best food joints for peace and quiet. In reality, it’s because he follows his husband Asaav Ihan (a Togrutan cargo pilot) around and spends their downtime between jobs and missions lazing around and catching up on the chat.
Tumblr media
🍪: Pulling out my baby Kel Dor, Padawan Goe Sult. They consider any gift from Fae Koon ( @penguinkiwi ) to be the most important thing to them in their lives, especially from when they were very young. And even though they aren’t quite sure what to specialize in once they’re chosen by Master T’ra Saa, they still know they’ll keep Fae in mind.
(no pic yet :( weh)
🍋: Kicking my Force Users to the curb and picking up a Mandalorian, Chancellor Cerel Alyth of Adaa. (For context, Adaa is the historical/original name of the planet Kalevala, and is recognized as Adaa in the Galactic Senate. The Chancellor serves as the Senatorial representative, but still answers to the “king” and/or “queen” of Adaa. | Cerel is also a gift from @perasperaadastrawriting !!) Cerel really doesn’t savor recalling how the previous rulers of Adaa completely trampled on the treaty that was honored when Mandalorians first conquered the world and ultimately lost to her people, the Cisomites, and agreed to share the land evenly and without further war. The rulers that Cerel grew up with were openly xenophobic to her and sort of used her as a trophy piece. Joke’s on them because now the Cisomites are in complete rule of the royal house LOL

For the square Almost Kiss for @obiquinbingo
Quinlan grabbed his satchel and threw it over the shoulder. Obi-Wan had invited him over to his to work on their project for Galactic History together. Quin didn’t think they’d get much done, especially since they weren’t in the Archives, but who knows.
The corridors of the temple were quiet for a Taungsday afternoon. Quin only passed a few Temple Guards and the occasional group of padawans on his way to the Jinn-Kenobi quarters. Tholme was away for the day, out visiting Master T’ra Saa on Centax 3.
Hanging from the door was an ornament from Pijal. Quin raised his fist and knocked once. The door swung open, and out flung a grinning Obi-Wan. He threw his arms around Quin, his padawan braid brushing against the side of Quin’s neck. Quin hugged him in return.
“It hasn’t been that long Obi-Wan. Did you really miss me that much?” Quin teased.
Obi-Wan stepped back, tugging Quin inside. “Lumi has been insufferable while you were gone. She seemed to think that because you weren’t around, I should be her target for pranks. Thank the force you’re back and can distract her,” he sighed.
Quin gasped, covering his mouth with his hand. “You just want me home for selfish reasons? I see how it is Obi,” he sniffed.
Obi-Wan punched him in the arm. “Come on Quin, enough of your blubbering, let’s get to work.”

Quinlan Vos Fancast
The recent news of ten new Star Wars film projects made me imagine how I would adapt some of my favorite comics. Quinlan Vos is one of the longest-running Star Wars comics protagonists; he could easily lead a TV series, spanning the years leading up to the fall of the Republic. But while the prequel films focused on the “bright center to the universe,” Quinlan’s series would show us what was going on behind the scenes among the Separatist and criminal circles he infiltrates.
