A/N: I have decided to go with the Bayverse boys, as I feel like I’ve been doing a lot of 03 for these past few days. I’ve also changed up the gift ideas, as I had some other ones I thought would be neat💖

Leonardo:

What do you get a guy that doesn’t have any wishes for Christmas? A guy who specifically told you not to get him anything for Christmas, because his noble nature just wouldn’t allow that. A guy who also happens to be the one you had had a crush on for years. Well, it wasn’t easy to figure out.

Leonardo had always been a guarded person. He didn’t easily let people in, citing possible betrayal and a general need for comfort. He did not like new things, as new things often got in the way of routine. And to Leo, routine meant comfort. So when you first entered Leo and his brothers’ lives, he took him quite some time to let you in. He watched you from afar, judging whether or not you were a threat. And slowly, over a long period of time, Leo let his guard down, letting you get to know him on a deeper, personal level. You got to know his routines, and the small things that brought him comfort. Meditation brought him clarity, training helped him get out frustrations, the bonsai made him patient, and his tea, his beloved tea, made him relax. All of this together brought him joy and comfort.

So what is a good gift for a guy that had a strict daily schedule, and doesn’t like sudden new things in his home space? Well, Leo had told you that your presence was enough, but that just didn’t sit well with you. You had to give him something that showed him that you cared. Especially after all these past years where Leo had made you promise not to give him anything, and to focus on his brothers’ gifts instead. You didn’t like that one bit. So therefore, this year you had found a gift for Leo, and you were sure he would like it. It was nothing big, as you had come to the realization that Leo did not need any big grand presents. What he needed was something that aligned with his daily routine. Something that let Leo know that you really did care, and you really did understand him.

So that day, as everyone was opening the presents, you quickly made your way over to Leo in the corner, who was watching his family, April, Casey and Vern, as they opened their presents in the living area. But when he noticed you coming over, he frowned in confusion. Especially when he noticed the unopened gift in your hands.

“Is that yours”, he asked. “Why haven’t you opened it yet?”

“Because it’s not mine”, you smiled, handing the gift over to the now very confused terrapin. “Merry Christmas, Leo”.

“(Y/N)”, he said sternly, looking from the gift to you. “I told you not to get me anything”.

“I know”, you said, almost forcing the gift into his hands with a smile. “But I just had to do it. Please, it means a lot to me”.

Leo looked at you for a moment, his blue eyes almost piercing into your soul. You prayed that he didn’t see the way his gaze caused you to shiver. His gaze moved back down to the gift in his hands. You could almost see the thoughts as they moved around in his head, as he tried to think of what he should make of the situation. And then, finally, he started to unpack the gift. It didn’t surprise you to see how neatly he unpacked it, unknotting the ribbon before following the lines of the wrapping paper, peeling back the tape. Once the gift was unwrapped, he started at the brown box in his hands, unsure of what to make of the artwork of Japanese women making tea on the front.

“What is this?”, he asked, slightly confused, looking for the opening in the brown box so he could take a look inside.

“It is a traditional Japanese matcha tea set”, you said, just as he opened the box. “With a whisk, a holder for the whisk, traditional scoop, matcha tea and bowl. All in blue of course”.

Leo stayed quiet as he stared at the matcha set in his hands. Then, without a word, he closed the box and placed it on the ground. You grew slightly nervous at this, not sure what to make of his silence. But then he turned to you, before wrapping his arms around you and pulled you into a tight hug.

“Thank you, (Y/N)”, he said, a smile appearing on his face, his arms staying around you, even as he moved his head to look at your face. “I love it! Really, I do. I had never thought of getting that”.

“No problem, Leo”, you said, feeling the butterflies erupt in your stomach and your face getting red. “I’m just happy that you like it”.

Raphael:

Raphael, the big and hot tempered member of the ninja turtles, and your ever growing crush. Ever since you met him and his brothers a little under a year ago, you couldn’t ignore your growing affection for the big red clad brute. His big build, strong physic and brown yellow eyes had you in awe from the very start. Although he was a little on the offensive during his first meeting with you, it didn’t take long before he warmed up to you, soon becoming a close friend of yours. It was no longer uncommon for him to check up on you every once in a while. Sudden late night texts, telling you he would do a quick stop by your apartment before continuing with his patrol. Or early morning texts asking if you wanted to come hang out with him in the lair. Okay, maybe the two of you were becoming more like best friends…

But there was one problem you hadn’t foreseen when you started getting closer with Raph: What do you get him for Christmas? Well, according to his brothers the best thing to get him was something for his workout. New weights. That new protein powder they had caught him looking at on his phone once. Or a new boxing bag, because his old one was living on its last days. But there was one thing wrong with that - Raph already had that, or his brothers were doing to get that for him. Leo had gotten him a new boxing bag, and Mikey had gotten him a new bench press, however that was possible. Donnie had made him a watch that could read the speed of his punches and his weight lifting. April had gotten the protein powder, and Casey had gotten him weights. Heck, even Vern had gotten him weights. Whatever Splinter had gotten him was still a mystery to you, but that didn’t change the fact that you had to find him a gift. A gift that showed him how much you cared and appreciated him, and hopefully how strong your feelings were for him.

You sat down and had a long think, remembering everything you knew about Raphael. Everything he had told you, and all the things you had done together. Even the things he hadn’t told you, and you just kind of had guessed along the way. And then suddenly, you had an idea. You knew what to get Raphael. It was different from any of the gifts his friends and family had gotten him, and you were sure it was going to stand out. And then, excitedly, you ran out the door, hurrying out to buy his gift.

Christmas in the lair came in a rush, and before you knew it you sat on the couch with Raphael, watching as he opened his second last gift, with yours being the last, waiting patiently in your lap.

“Yo! That’s so cool!”, Raph said as he opened Donnie’s gift. He took the oversized watch out of the box before wrapping it around his arm, reading the numbers on it as he punched the air. “That’s wild!”

“I thought you would like it”, Donnie smiled, not taking his eyes from whatever gift he was fiddling with.

You bite your lip nervously. Your gift wasn’t anything high tech, nor did it have anything to do with the many other things Raph had gotten that day. Nothing to do with weights or working out. For a moment you were wondering if your gift actually was such a good idea.

“Did ya have something for me, (Y/N)?”, Raph asked, bringing you out of your worries and back to reality. A half smile on his lip as he played with the watch on his wrist, yet his eyes were on you.

“Y- yes”, you stammered, before nervously handing the gift over to him. “Though it might be different from what the others have gotten you”.

“That’s okay”, Raph smiled as he opened the wrappings on his gift. “As long as it’s from ya, I’ll be happy”. A blush spread across your face at Raph’s words. Damn him and his words for having such an affect on you.

Once Raph had wrapped open the gift, he turned the book in his hand, slight confusion on his face as he read the title; “Knitting and Stitches from Around the World”. He was quiet for a moment, making you slightly anxious. You were just about to ask him if something was wrong, he threw his head back in laughter, before wrapping an arm around you to pull you into a hug.

“That’s amazing, (Y/N)”, he said, before opening the book onto the first page. “How did you know?”

“Well”, you started, smiling brightly as you felt the anxiety disappear away. “I’ve been to your room, and I have seen your knitting stuff. You’re not really that good at hiding it if that’s what you’ve been trying to do”.

“I haven’t thought of that”, Raph said, with his one arm still wrapped around you. “But thanks, (Y/N). I love it”.

Donatello:

You had been thinking for days - no! Weeks. What the hell do you get a mutant turtle genius for Christmas? This man could make himself anything. Did he need something, no bother. He’ll just make something in his lab and the problem was gone. Easy peasy. Well, could he make an invention that made it easy to tell someone about their big crush on them? You hadn’t gotten around to asking him that, nor did it seem like he had any plans for making that in the near future.

Donatello, the tall dork of tech genius, had captured your heart for longer than you dared to admit. You weren’t sure when it exactly started, but one thing you were sure of; you had developed the biggest crush on the purple clad terrapin, and with Christmas coming up, you had every intention of giving him something meaningful.

It had not been an easy idea to come up with. Like said before; when Donnie needed something, he would just make it or get it done. That was just what he did, and normally there wouldn’t be a problem with that. But when you sat in the back of his lab for hours, watching him work while doing small talk, you couldn’t help but get a little frustrated.

You knew you weren’t the only person in the turtle household, who had had problems with finding a fitting Christmas gift for Donnie. You knew his brothers had started to go for options that Donnie had not asked for, but that they felt like he needed. A new extra soft comforter, new pillows, caffeine free coffee and a white noise machine. All stuff to help him sleep. But you knew Donnie better than that, having become one of his best friends over a very short time. You knew that his strange sleeping schedule was bothering no one but his brothers, and they had the idea that it was bothering him too. But it wasn’t. Donnie enjoyed spending time alone in his lab at night, with no interruptions from his brothers. And it was during one of these late nights in his lab, that you noticed him grimacing towards his now cold coffee, before asking with a sigh if you wanted to go with him to the kitchen, so you could keep him company. You finally knew what to give him.

You sat in his lab, and watched as the clock passed midnight. It was finally Christmas. Donnie noticed it too, a small smile appearing on his face.

“How time flies”, he mumbled, sitting up in his chair so he could stretch his arms. “Merry Christmas, (Y/N)”.

“Merry Christmas, Donnie”, you smiled, fiddling a little with your hands. “Uhm… Don?”

“Yes, (Y/N)?”

“You know, since it’s officially Christmas now, how would you feel about getting your gift a little early on the day?”

“That sounds like a great idea”, Donnie answered, bringing his cup of coffee to his lips, only to grimace at it. “But can we do it after I’ve made a new cup? It’s cold again”.

“Actually”, you said, stopping him before he could get up. “I think my gift can help you with that”.

“Oh?” Donnie watched as you turned to your backpack, and pulled out a present for him. He chuckled at the purple wrapping, before bringing it to his lap so it could be opened. Once it was unwrapped, he sat staring at a box with a picture of a black cup with light up writing.

“I know I shouldn’t encourage you to continue your self destructive sleep schedule, or your lack of one”, you said, as it didn’t seem like he was catching on, on his own. “But I know coffee tends to get cold when you bring it with you into the lab, so I thought a self heating cup would be nice”.

Donnie sat up straight in his chair and stared at you. “(Y/N)! You’re a genius!”, he yelled, before standing to hug you. “How didn’t I think of this myself?!”

“I’ve been wondering the same thing”, you said, feeling a blush spread over your cheeks.

“Time to test this bad boy!”, Donnie said as he opened the box, before running into the kitchen. The sudden sounds of celebration afterwards, told you that the cups was in fact working like intended.

Michelangelo:

“Merry early Christmas, (Y/N)!”, Mikey said as he tumbled through your living room window, wearing a red Christmas hat, a fake Santa beard, and carrying a small sack over his shoulder.

“What on earth are you doing, Mikey?”, you asked in a laugh, watching as he closed the window behind him, shivering slightly at the cold New York winter air.

Michelangelo, that cute weirdo. He was one of the sweetest and most innocent guys you’ve ever met. With big blue eyes and a fun loving personality, he had you from day one. There was nothing you could do when he first introduced himself and his brothers to you. The moment he spoke you fell for him, and developed the biggest fattest crush you had ever had for anyone. There was nothing you could do, especially not when he quickly became your best friend.

You and Mikey would hang out, all night and all day. He would often drop by your apartment unannounced, or text and call you in order to beg you to come to the lair and hang out. It was almost daily at this point. You couldn’t remember a day in the past few months where you and Mikey hadn’t been either watching movies, playing video games or eating pizza together. You clearly remembered the time a few weeks ago, during a round of video games at your apartment, where Mikey discreetly tried to ask you what you wanted for Christmas, hoping you wouldn’t notice. But of course you did notice, trying your hardest not to laugh at his adorable expression as he listened to your answer. But that question made you wonder; what would Mikey want for Christmas? Would he like a new drum set? No, the one he had was still perfectly fine. A new skateboard? The one he already had could fly. There was no beating that. A new bluetooth speaker? No good either. He just used his brothers’...

That was when Mikey won the game and started jumping around your living room, all with a bright smile on his face, celebrating with loud yells and fist pumps into the air. You laughed at the scene in front of you, feeling your stomach tingle with butterflies at Mikey’s happiness. These were the kind of moments you wish you could keep and hang up on your wall… That’s it! You knew what to get Mikey for Christmas!

“Christmas isn’t until tomorrow, you know”, you laughed, pulling down at his fake white beard, just to tease.

“Nothing wrong with being a little ahead of time”, Mikey said, poking his tongue out at you. “Besides, I thought I would come over with your gift a little early”. Mikey took the small sack down from his shoulder, opening it to reveal one single present. “You know, because my gift to you is so good that it will make my brothers jealous or sad. I would rather not undermine all their hard work”, he finished with a small wink.

You couldn’t help but laugh. Why did he have to be so adorable? “Okay, but then it would only be fair if I also got you your gift”, you said, turning to leave for your room. “I hope it’s okay that it isn’t wrapped. I thought I still had plenty of time to get that done”.

“That’s fine by me”, Mikey said, fishing your gift out of the sack, before taking a seat on the couch. “I tend to get very impatient with wrapping paper”.

“I had a feeling”, you chuckled, as you found Mikey’s gift inside of your closet. “Close your eyes and hold your hands out, Mikester!”

“If you say so, Angelcakes”, Mikey said, before pulling his red Christmas hat down over his eyes, and holding his hands out in front of him. You chuckled at the sight, and placed the brand new polaroid camera into his hands. Mikey felt the object in confusion, before pushing his hat back from his eyes. “What’s that?”, Mikey asked, turning the camera in his hands.

“A polaroid camera”, you said. “I thought that was the best kind of gift for you, so you can capture fun memories, you know, with either me or your brothers”.

Mikey looked from you to the camera in his hands, a mischievous smile spreading across his face. “You mean, like this?” Mikey sprung from the couch, bringing the Christmas hate over your head, before pulling you in for a hug and a quick selfie. “Say cheese!”

You laughed, bringing your arms around Mikey’s neck, smiling at the camera with a big smile. “Cheese!”

Mikey watched as the picture came out of the machine in his hand. “I love it, (Y/N)! Now, open your gift so I have something to hang by my bed!”

The promised 'how Angelo got to 2003 Dimension" post (with an animatic panel b/c it's cute.)

note: This is sad. i didn't intend for it to be so sad when i started this au, that's just how things went. For a three year old to activate mystic powers, i imagined it would have taken a lot of very strong emotions to do. So it's sad. It's 'i'm putting it under a break and a content warning' sad.

brief (kinda stupid) summary in the tags for those that don't feel like reading it in it's (admittedly pretty vague) detail. (I'm probably going a little overboard adding a content warning but im doing it anyways)

Content warning: Attempted kidnapping and attempted child violence.

Angelo got separated due to a combination of the twins darting off while Angelo got distracted by a bucket of paint. Splinter was so busy chasing after the twins he didn't notice Angelo's hand had slipped from his. (By the time he does, he's already gone.)

While he's separated, another mutant sees this tiny thing painting a picture on the wall and decides he's an easy meal.

(that mutant is pretty much just Old Hob (from the TMNT idw comic) if he had been mutated by Draxum and escaped into the sewers. Not quite as conniving yet. Still very much relying on cat instincts at that moment rather than people ones. but he will get there. (I liked the fact that Hob is the reason Raph was separated from his family in the comics, so he's also the reason Angelo gets separated from his Rise family here.))

Anyways, Hob takes the small turtle and is halfway back when Angelo starts making a racket and trying to escape (he was stunned before then. He didn't understand what was going on. He still didn't but by then he just didn't want to be there anymore.)

All this does is make Hob mad. He tries to hurt Angelo to make him stop.

Tries.

Because at that moment, Angelo is scared. He's so scared. He scared this mutant will hurt him. That he won't ever see his family again.

And he so very wants to see them again.

Its enough to get his ancestors' attention. For them to see one of their young descendants in mortal peril and decide, that just won't do.

You see, that fear and desire to see his family was strong enough for Angelo to unlock his mystics, but he wasn't strong enough to use it. So his ancestors give him a boost. Admittedly a too strong boost. b/c instead of helping Angelo to make a portal away from there, they helped him make a portal away from the whole Dimension.

a too big portal, that Hob also fell through (though was far too stunned to do anything to stop Angelo from getting away.)

Raphie doesn't know this is what happened. He simply finds a crying turtle tot in the sewers and brings him home.

Eventually he starts realizing something bad happened to get the kid there (a small crack in Angelo's shell, bad nightmares, etc) but Angelo refuses to talk about it. and Raphie doesn't have the heart to push the issue.

Hob would probably be the main antagonist for the "Angelo grows up in 2003" arc. He would blame Angelo for him being displaced as he is. (he's also the dude in-charge of the lair invasion that results in Angelo getting sent back to Rise.)

So that's how it happens.

so based on… absolutely nothing but my own brain, the tmnt turts have at least ONE twin pairing in each version. and yes i know in some cases they’re quadruplets or not even technically related at all but that being said here is my take on which turtles are twins in each version.

so first of all we have the 1987 show, and personally i think raph and leo have the strongest twin vibes

they’re both a pair of goobers idk man. they’re just the Twins

next up we have the 2003 show! i think it’s pretty fandom accepted that donnie and raph are the twin duo in this version

they actually have some really strong moments throughout, have a lot of banter and tend to very subtly side with one another when teasing mikey or leo. it’s very cute and they’re just very much twin coded! brains and brawn duo wins my heart for this round!

then we have the tmnt 2007 movie ! loves of my life, criminally underutilised, i went with mikey and donnie here

they’re the Babies of the family that end up actually pulling most the weight. it’s clear that donnie is the older twin here but they’re over their big brothers bullshit lol - it’s criminal that we never got a second movie to witness more of them

next up is 2012! this is one i hold close to my heart only because ive remained loyal with this headcanon for so long but donnie and raph again, big twin energy

they needed more moments together but they were a solid team. fight in the comments who’s the older twin lol

then we have the bayverse turts. debated long and hard about this one but.. raph and mikey win it out agaisnt the others.

they’re both stupid boys, sharing the same braincell. mikey is the younger twin only because the universe abides by him always being the baby of the family :)

then lastly we have rottmnt. this one speaks for itself obviously. it’s in their namesake

they are the twins of all twins to ever have twinned

while everyone likes to crap on leo/rai (for good reason) and on apritello for being cringe ig

i feel like one thing every 2012 ship has a problem with is pacing

yes i mean every ship

it’s clear that the 2012 writers don’t rlly know how to commit to romantic subplots so they either go the “they are super into each other right off the bat so there’s little build up” angle or the “will they won’t they,, but we’ll never show them actually get together” angle

i’m not saying these are atrociously bad or anything but it can be really annoying in the long run

apritello is the entire reason i got into 2012 when i was 11 lmao so it got stale for me when the show focuses less and less on their development since they didn’t want to commit to an actual subplot after the bigfoot fiasco. they both grow, sure, but it’s pushed to the background and we never see them talk about it. instead we get a kiss in a non-canon music video ://

dw apritello i still love you

with ramona, while it’s incredibly sweet how in love they are, the pacing of their first episode was ,,,, bad lol. the first time i watched it i was so underwhelmed i was like,,, this gets better?? right?? and it did but yeah i think that first episode for sure needed tweaking.

and more mona would’ve been great too. she needed some character exploration outside of her relationship with raph,, like having her talk more with the other characters her age (i would kill for april and mona content). i’m not saying she doesn’t have depth. she does. but a lot of it gets pushed to the background for her dynamic with raph.

they just didn’t even try with mikey and renet i’ll be real. they threw renet in there as a love interest and then kept making her and mikey kinda go in circles with their interest in each other. they’ll be cute and close in some scenes and then renet will act like she’s just humoring him while mikey kinda forgets about her when shini shows up.

i think renetangelo is cute to some extent (tho i do dislike 2012 mikey a bit so that doesn’t help) but time travel romances are automatically rlly hard to write well and since 2012’s romance writing is already messy, they weren’t going to do well. and renet herself is automatically more interesting when she’s not interacting with mikey. like her platonic dynamic with leo?? adorable. my favorite renet is 2003 and she’s not a love interest and she’s so charming!! renet is just a fun quirky friend of the turtles.

y’all know i love a lot of tmnt love interests so the fact that i prefer renet as a friend prolly says a lot about how she should be written gjdkdk

i don’t wanna talk about leo/rai much, but other than the glaringly bad i/ncest issue (both siblings and cousins), they just weren’t very good as a romantic dynamic either?

like yeah i’m biased bc lotus is the only leo love interest i will ever accept (and also leo/rai is gross lol)

but like ,,, with karai, leo saw her as an escape from being a leader so he can explore his rebellious streak. which is interesting! but unlike with lotus, leo was willing to betray her behind her back, and karai was willing to manipulate him to do what she wanted him to. but okay that’s getting off topic. back to the pacing,,

season 1 gets a pass for me since i actually love the pacing of season 1 alone (like honestly, after the cousin reveal, there wasn’t any romance up until season 2 from my memory,, and even before that after karai betrayed leo and the other brothers found out, leo wasn’t into her,, it was his brothers who were making fun of him), but afterwards, season 2 onward,the timing of leo/rai moments were always a slap in the face bc they were always. ALWAYS. right after they acknowledged her as family THRJEKSJDJDKSK

but yeah i think pacing is the worst problem of 2012 ships :p

obviously some other problems too, like sexism lol. but pacing is most glaring for me

What is your favorite TMNT ship and why?

I'll go first

2012 Ramona because out of all of the relationships it was the most healthy and normal one in the 2012 series. It had a good dynamic and I just loved every scene with them. I have seen some say that they tend to be cringe with their moments which from their pov I can understand. Though for me I really enjoy their cute moments. They are so wholesome and also blatantly funny.

I also love 2012 Renetengelo on just how absolutely adorable and wholesome it is. Renet and Mikey were made for each other argue with the wall. Though I feel like they should have written Renet as an immortal and ageless time traveler goddess of some sorts. Because I feel like their relationship would be complicated because Renet is from another time period and so is Mikey which makes it weird. I still love it and I will stand on this hill and appreciate it

This is my all time fave duo I’ve said it like 7 times already.

I don’t know why, but Donnie and Raph (especially in the 2003 version) go so well together. DONNIE CALLS RAPH “RAPHIE.” I LOVE IT. They also seem to together when fighting (there’s a small scene in the 2007 version where Raph asks Don for his help while fighting a foot soldier, it’s cute brotherly love y’all I love it)

ANYWAY

I also hc that Raph's favorite brother is Donnie, i don't know why, but i can really see it through every version of them

There’s literally a 2003 TMNT compilation of just Donnie and Raph moments, Donnie canonically calls Raph “Raphie,” and Raph seems to insult Donnie less if not barely. (although in the 2012 version he throws his lil nerdy jokes at him)

Donnie & Raph 100% gives off middle child vibes, so it’s only right they’re the best duo. We see Leo as the oldest and Mikey the youngest, but we never really talk about where don and Raph lie. It’s simply because they’re the

*shudders* middle children

& because they’re the middle children they do A LOT together than people think. They play video games together (as shown in the 2003 version,) have a sarcasm match together & anything else!

Raph also looks out for Donnie during combat since he knows he’s the weakest out of the four of them<3

Okay, rise!donnie & leo??? MY FAVORITE.

I feel like Donnie is the backbone of a lot of Leo's plans. If you think about it, a lot of the time Leo may rely on Donnie to either hack or invent something for them to use in their mission. Though in the 2012 he doesn't allow donnie to use the turtle mech because it was too risky, but a lot of his inventions seriously save Leo all the trouble of making a plan up and stressing him out

I also love the thought of them as twins bc it makes so much sense & I enjoy it A LOT!!!

Leo praises Donnie for a lot of his work, but Raph does it the most

Okay, I LOVE. In every installment, they seriously kill it together.

I enjoyed them a lot in the 2012 version, it wasn't like bayverse or 2003 where a lot of the screentime was taken up by them arguing. We saw how caring Raph was during the farmhouse arc and how he really missed Leo, and tried to help him get back on his feet as leader. Not only that, but 2007 Raph secretly really cared for Leo A LOT, i think the line where Raph says

"Youre gonna need these [katana] if youre gonna lead us out of here," & Leo says, "I'm gonna need you, too." LIKE BROOO????? *cries*

I truly love their small rivalry but brotherly love at the same time like wut

But anyhoo, I really like that although they may get into it (yuh) with each other, they still fight really good together regardless I love them wtf.

I love the little brother older brother dynamic here seriously!

I feel like Mikey is a trouble magnet and Leo is just a worried mom friend who tries to steer him away from it yet winds up getting involved anyways

I also hc that Leo carries hand sanitizer EVERYWHERE he goes no matter what. They’re not touching anything foreign unless they slather a gloop of hand sanitizer on

Makes sure Mikey is safe during combat. I’ve thought about this for a while, but I feel like Leo will always watch Mikey’s back without him even realizing it. Mikey is pretty oblivious and Leo is always there to pick up the things he misses!

Also i 100% think that Leo and mikey discuss pranks to do on Raph, almost all of them are Leo’s idea but don’t tell Raph that

MIKEY

Her favorite

He screams in such a wonderful way.

10/10 would be friends with Bart Allen/Impulse online (where they’d talk about Star Trek, both headcanons and meta).

He experiences a LOT of male-bonding.

He needs his boyfriend (meaning Traximus) around more.

While his brothers were all being traumatized in various ways during the arc that included SAINW he was off in a bike-race with a hottie on another planet.

Would absolutely swear more and probably only censors himself around his dad.

He’d be friends with Jason Todd/Robin II/Red Hood.

DONNIE

The Kirby episode with him was one of her favorites.

Tim Drake/Robin III/Red Robin’s friend.

Why is he sitting on the couch like that? Sir, why did you put the couch like that before climbing onto it to sit?

💙 tmnt vday prompts · week 01 · leomin (leo x min-ji)

hello! it’s me again and i am PARTICIPATING and talking about ocs and ships and things I seldom ever talk about in public. WELL. here goes nothing.

1. in which tmnt universe does your pairing exist?

the 2003 animated series, also known as the series that has my entire heart.

2. introduce us to your otp.

well, you guys already know leo, of course. but this young lady here is min-ji seong! she’s a korean-american high school student who lives in new york city. she’s a pianist, but she also writes songs and plays the acoustic guitar. when she was eleven, she was in the subway when a bombing ‘incident’ happened and lost half of her left arm; she now has a cybernetic prosthetic. she’s a warm and empathetic person with a dash of trauma and skittishness.

3. how did they meet?

it’s a whole... thing, but they meet when leo and his brothers investigate the foot going into a building one night that ended up being min-ji’s aunt’s boutique, and she was working the closing shift when she was attacked and was either going to be abducted or murdered by the foot soldiers. you know the drill, though: our boys show up, take some names and beat up the bad guys, and the day is saved. for the moment, anyway. min-ji ended up being in the foot’s and the purple dragon’s cross hairs by no fault of her own... but that’s a story for another time.

4. how is the relationship now?

after upwards of two years of being friends (and pining), they eventually start dating and for the most part is great and wholesome and cute and very healthy. they’re very insightful and attentive to one another and feel safe in each other’s company. they both have their traumas and shortcomings, but fortunately are pretty good communicators, so any bigger issues between them are often immediately addressed and short lived.

5. what is each other’s love language?

words of affirmation and quality time are very big for the both of them, in both receiving and giving. acts of service is also present in the two of them, but not as prominent.

6. do they get married or have any kids?

no and no. the future is pretty uncertain, especially since min-ji has ambitions of becoming a professional musician of some kind, and who knows where that will take her. but for now they have each other and are fully committed to that, and that’s enough.

7. what is your favorite thing about this pairing? (gush as much as you want!)

oh, THIS is going under a cut.

leo got to be a first person witness in min-ji's growth and healing with her low self esteem, self worth, and also her traumas. and he is so, so proud of her and genuinely feels honored that he's gotten to be a part of her life and see her overcome obstacles of all kinds. he admires her inner strength and how all of her experiences haven't left her cold (like it had once done to him). She is continuously recovering from past experiences, learning how to defend herself and stand up for herself, and shows kindness to people even when they don't deserve it. not to mention she bonds significantly with his family--becoming close friends with raph, being a beam of support for don, and being silly with mikey and occasionally indulging in his mischief and playfulness. he appreciates that she cares deeply for his family and he wishes he could get to know her family in the same way.

on min-ji's part: when they first met and during the period of time where they were still getting to know one another, leo (intentionally or unintentionally) offered min-ji a lot of stability and a sense of safety that she didn't have in her life for a while, and she clutched onto it for dear life. she has always found him to be a calming, but strong presence, who was always gentle and hyper aware of her mood and her verbal and physical expressions of emotions and thoughts, which was like a breath of fresh air for her. min-ji finds leo easy to talk to and express herself with, even with difficult or embarrassing topics. learning more about his and his family’s past (especially with what happened at the end of season 3 and throughout the first half of season 4) made her even more sympathetic to them, and she admires how he was able to heal from those events as well. all in all, they’ve had intense roads to individual recovery and they found one another along the way, which is beautiful.

If the Rise TMNT gets a crossover with turtles from a previous series, I think 1987 would probably be considered overdone, unless folks are hoping for a "third times the charm" sort of situation because Turtles Forever made the 87 turtles OOC and while the 2012 crossover fixed that, I also heard that there was this whole thing where the 87 turtles were somehow treated as incompetent fighters that people complained about that even Turtles Forever at least didn't do for some reason.

I only watched Turtles Forever, and while I lack nostalgia for the original cartoon, that lack of nostalgia does allow me to appreciate the moments where the 80s turtles and stuff were put in a more positive spotlight (80s Raph's jokes, 80s Don's attitude with his tech saving their asses and also Bepop and Rocksteady accidentally killing Utrom Shredder with their comic relief shenanigans). It's not as mean spirited to the 80s version as people's probable nostalgia goggles would led em to believe, even if there is still some merit to it.

Anyways, back to the original topic of ROTMNT, if I were to decide which other series should get the "previous team" representative for a crossover, I'd put the 2003 version in there. There's still likely going to be that "this one is more serious vs the other" but this time the "sillier side" are going to be more in the MC spotlight this time around and I think the version that's close to comic accurate contrasting the ones very much different from the source is still a nice dynamic to explore. Sure, Turtles Forever's dynamic is technically like that too but the Rise bois are just so much more different than any other version. Also because the 2003 Turtles are close to the comics, I also think it'll be nice for some of the stuff from Volume 4 of the Mirage Comics to be adapted here in a form of a timeskip. Age up the 03 Turtles to be adults and finally bring Shadow Jones into an animated adaptation already dangit because turtles being cute uncles to Shadow Jones is the best thing from the comics that unfortunately has yet really be brought outside the original comics officially.

Mind sharing your favorite and least favorite turtle from each of the tmnt iterations you'e seen + why??

Generally Don and Raph have always been my favorites. I favored Raph more in 87 and 2003, then Donnie moved to take his first place spot in 2012. Looking back I was kind of an angry child, which is probably why I identified with Raph.

But it's always been them at 1 and 2, then Leo in the 3rd place spot, and Mikey my least favorite. I just found Leo the least interesting one-I mean, he has moments, but Donnie and Raph are cooler. I'm kinda 'meh' on 87 and 2003 Mikeys. I fucking hate 2012 Mikey. He's cute and everything and I can logically understand the appeal, but holy fuck does he hit every 'annoying younger sibling' nerve in me. Not even Greg Cipes, my beloved Beast Boy, could save him. And yes, I am an oldest sibling. I get along very well with my sister. Now.

Donnie is again my favorite in Rise, (I mean, how can he not be? Look at him!) but Leo is now in that number two spot. I definitely went into Rise worried about the change in dynamic, but holy shit I think not keeping him the leader was the single best thing they could have done for his character. It gave him room to be his own character outside of hero boy and, ironically, develop the skills he'd need to be a good leader. And a red-eared slider was such a good choice for him, I cannot praise the crew enough for the decision to make them all different turtles.

Raph is incredible in Rise. He's number three purely because the twins are just that fucking awesome, he'd be my favorite if this were any other iteration. I love that they turned the 'asshole with a soft side' into a gentle giant of a teddy bear. I love that he still struggles with his anger like other Raphs do, that the main difference is in how Raph chooses to deal with it.

And Mikey's just a star. Like Leo, I think the decision to make him the emotionally-intelligent member instead of the comic relief was exactly what he needed. He still feels like a youngest child, but the kind I want to snuggle and protect. I mean, this...might have something to do with how I get along with my sister better, now that I think about it. Goddammit, I've already projected my daddy issues all over the fic, now this?

The Rise characters are all my favorite iterations, honestly. Including April and Casey. And Second Casey. I don't think I could choose between Rise and 2012 Splinter, however. I love 2012 Splinter, but Rise Splinter feels like a real dad. Like, I've met parents who act like him. I could not imagine going to a friend's house and meeting 2012 Splinter, but I could totally imagine Rise Splinter being there raiding the fridge in his underwear before roasting his kid just to embarrass them in front of their friend.

So I wanted to do another take on something with TMNT! I had so much love with the previous one, so I wanted to say Thank You!

Now on to what I want to talk about his the concept of a “Teenager”. Mind you I am a HUGE NERD & FAN! Of TMNT always have been and forever will be.

Although I do have my constructive criticism here and there. Because I watched all of them from the old comics, to the first series and movie. All the way to basically… Now lol

As everyone know the lovely TMNT had another movie called, “Mutant Mayhem.” I will say it’s cute and all and them trying to do something different. I’m not going to over hype it, it was nice. It wasn’t like bad.

But the main thing I didn’t like(mind you it’s just an opinion lol), is them saying there finally TEENAGERS! Like they look,act, and voice by actual teenagers.

Now being voiced by real teenagers is cool and a nice difference. But look and act like teenagers, from all the ones I watch they ALWAYS act like teenagers when they aren’t in fight mode.

Lol here me out Most teenagers look different and act different in there own ways. Through my time when I use to be in Highschool, when I use to be a Teenager. I seen some teenagers that look like adults! Like some of them I couldn’t believe was in my school and mistook them as someone that wasn’t a student. There are also some that look like little kids that are high schoolers and act like kids. So looking and acting like a teenager is relative.

Me saying that is taking into the account of when people were talking about the design of the 2014 & 2016 TMNT film

Mind you to me teenage age begins from 13-20 at the least 13 more so leaving out of your middle schooler phase into a Highschooler.

TMNT 2014-2016 - They gave me the age of 18-19 yrs. old based on there look and behavior. Especially Mikey, but they are still categorized as a Teenager. With sometimes Teenage behavior like all of them show at time.

TMNT 2003 - They gave me 16 or 17 year old vibes they were jokable and played a lot. Even certain serious times depending on how serious. But still Teenagers.

TMNT 2018-2019 - They gave me 14-15 year old vibes. They play around and immature a lot of times even during majority of serious moments.

TMNT MUTANT MAYHEM - They gave me 13 year old vibes. Turtles slowly or just started to enter there teenage year and trying to come out of that middle schooler energy type phase.

All in all they were STILL TEENAGERS! This isn’t the first movie where they are and act like teenagers. They always do at certain time, but as you grow older and at the stage of leaving from those teenage tendencies. You act a bit more mature.

Now I didn’t age range all of them, that’s because these were the best examples to really gauge there characters. Because these were really good, different, unique adaptations. The ones I didn’t mention were similar to the ones above as well.

Now again this is just my opinion, and I don’t be bias for a specific TMNT. But a fair analysis over all of them, I won’t say what TMNT adaptation is better. I do enjoy the 2003 but I love all of them as I watched all of them across, and one may have something another is lacking and so on. So it’s hard to say what is better, each one has it’s own flavor and spice. That one person may like it and another may not, and that’s completely fine.

I just don’t like when people say this recent movie, this is the first time they’re teenagers. Probably the first time voiced by teenagers(Kudos with that). But this is not the first they act like one.

Because they act like teenagers in each adaptation, just possibly a different teenager age range or just another kind of teenager.

I love TMNT, and always will. Every TMNT is great to me in it’s own way, and any and everyone is free to agree or disagree. :>

Here! Fanfiction! Tumblr x Twitter cafe au

The soft blue haired adult let out a groan as they say down on their chair. It was a long day of work and finally they could relax at their favorite cafe. Pulling out their laptop they open up the documents and re-read their fanfic.

Does this makes scene? Did I make the character too ooc? Maybe I should add more angst-

“One ice Carmel latte coffee for, um Tum?” A voice called out, bringing them out of their trance. The young adult got out of their seat and jog to the counter.

“That’s me! It’s Tumblr actually.”

The waiter nodded. They had soft light blue hair, soft skin and very bright green eyes. I want to write about them.

“Excuse me? Mx. your order?” A soft voice rang out from the waiter. Tumblr snap their eyes down the the waiters hands.

“Oh, right, sorry!”

Taking their food they went back to the table and got to work. The hours pass, tumblr keep writing and editing their work. Also replying to comments and reading some of others fanfic as well.

“Excuse me. The cage close now.” The same voice rang out. Tumblr look up and see the waiter taking off their apron and putting on a sweater. Looking at the counter screen they can see that it was closing time. Quickly they gather their belongings, slightly fumbling, and put everything away.

“Ah! I’m so sorry about that!”

The waiter just nodded and the two was out the door. But sidedly they both walk down the same street. A brief moment of panic swirl inside them. What if their a serial killer? No that’s stupid….They probably live nearby? Oh wait that would make a good fanfic idea? Maybe a cute dean-

“Do you live near by? I live at the Apple apartment.”

“Hmm? Oh yeah! Same. 4th floor? You?”

“3rd! Since we’re neighbors, what’s your name? I’m Twitter. You can call me Twi. They/them pronouns.”

Twi stop walk and held out their hand. Taking it, tumblr felt two give a quick handshake.

“Tumblr. You can call me Blr. They/Them, but open to any pronouns.”

They two let go off hands and continue walking. It was a late fall day, almost winter, and the dead leaves were wet with the rain they had. Tumblr watch as Twi kick up some of the leaves. Their brown Ugg boots flinging the leaves.

“I seen many colleges students and other people come in, mostly writers? Or you one too?”

Tumblr shrug. “A bit. More of a hobby really.”

“Oh, what do you write?”

Gay sex fanfic, something found family with some hurt/comfort. Cartoon and tv shows.

“Nothing really! Just……stories ya’know?”

Twi let out a hum. “Sorry but I calm that bull. I saw your fandom stickers on your laptop. You don’t have to tell me more.”

Tumblr let out a groan. Great. “I’m working on a crossover. It’s a crossover between supernatural and tmnt! The 2003 version, I have the first few chapter posted, but I’m not the best planner so Im just winging it.”

Twi let out a snore, “Do you have a beta reader?”

Tumblr blink in surprise. “No. Why?”

“Your fic sounds cool! I can beta read it for you? If you want? Give you some ideas and thoughts? I haven’t seen the 2003 TMNT. Love the 1987 and 2014 versions. But I’m a big supernatural fan! I’m a Cas and Sam person myself. I’m also a Raph and Mikey fan too.”

The two adults were in the elevator now. When did we get here? The eleven sing and it was on the 4th floor.

“That’s my stop-“ Twi started to say. But soon stop when they feel their hand being grab. Twisting their neck the saw Blr holding their arm, while the other hand was digging around their bag. Low mutter was heard.

“Here..” Blr said. They got a market and wrote on their arm.

“This is my fanfic, and my blog info. Once you read the fic message me and I’ll send you the rest of my story and other ideas. Sound good?”

Blr let go of their hand. “Sound good to me Blr! Thank for letting me read it!”

“No problem.”

Twi then step out of the elevator. Turing back they have a small wave to their new friend and heading down to their room.

The elevator door close and Tumblr feel themselves slowing sink to the ground. A new friend! One that live in the same apartment and also reads fanfiction! Hopefully this one will stay and not get weird out by their quirks…..

2012!TMNT (and my gripes with it)

My first ever long brainrot blog post and it's about the things i dont like in my childhood show

Also, disclaimer : I'm sorry for my bad english, it's not my first language, my vocab isn't as wide as most people and this is also just my ramblings so it might stop making sense at some point

HERE IT GOES

APRIL/DONNIE/CASEY LOVE TRIANGLE (and the romance in general)

Everybody said this already but I haven't shared my thoughts so you get to listen

The romance in the show is not gross and disgusting at worst and not plot relevant at best. Personally, I have no problem with any pairings between any of the turtles and the humans characters, I don't care if the show wants to push a romance between any mutant with any humans at all. Anyone calling this beastiality or zoophilia is incorrect to me, as most of the mutant characters (aside from Karai when she first mutated) have their own mind and can choose for themselves. They are not irrational or mindless beings and 90% of the time is even smarter and more intelligent emotionally than the few human characters that we have.

The only problem with the romance in this show would be the context, and the circumstances of the characters involved in said romance.

For example, let's look at the case of Donnie/April, which is the first time the concept of romance is introduced in the show.

In the first 10 minutes of the first episode, we see the turtles comes up to the surface, and literally right after we see them marvel at the wonderful place that is the the NYC, April comes out and Donnie is immediately in love, exclaiming she is the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. (for the show's credit it was a kids show made in 2012, love at first sight was a very common trope)

Seconds after that, April and her dad get attacked by the Kraang, and Donnie jumps in to save her, the show is setting it up for this to be a thing in the future, making it clear it's not just a one-off thing or a throwaway line for jokes.

In season 2, Casey comes in, and cause he and April is the staple couple of the franchise since 2003, they have to have their moment too. In 2012, Casey is the

And we go through the rest of the show of Donnie, Casey and April in this will they, won't they scenarios also consisting of Donnie and Casey fighting over her at every second they are in the same frame.

What is the problem here?

Well, as other people have said it, this love triangle plotline ruins the characters of everyone involved.

Donnie's crush on April was cute at some point, but it stopped after he started going all stalker-ish, following April and knowing her schedule, going out of his way to plan things to get her to go out with him, getting possessive over her despite her showing she's not comfortable with his advances.

Casey is portrayed as a perverted asshole, whose whole thing is just makes fanservice jokes about April's body or just be horny for her. And when he's not, he's just the tough bad boy who contrasts Donnie, the awkward nerd.

April's character suffers the most from this situation, as from the very first second she is introduced in the show, she is introduced as Donnie's love interest. Her whole character was fixed from that moment forward as just the love interest, and nothing else. And her being thrown around between Donnie and Casey didn't make it better. What was her personality? Her hobbies? Likes and dislikes? All seems invisible as most of her scenes compromises of her being with Donnie, or her being with Casey or both.

Most of the fandom even sees her as a bitch for 'leading on the two guys that liked her', as if she asked for that situation to happen in the first place.

The romance itself isn't good, it just makes everyone look bad. Which is sad, cause outside of the love triangle, these three are great characters on their own (not the best, Donnie is definitely the weakest of the turtles in terms of characterization)

Their implied relationships off-screen sounds so much better, Donnie and April were theorized to be best friends as she seems the most comfortable with him, Casey occasionally helps Donnie with mechanic stuff (shown in one scene in season 3).

The way this plotline is handled isn't good either, it pretty much just dissolves away without any conclusion. No talks between the characters about the situation, no April standing up for herself and telling the two of them she doesn't want to hurt their friendship and she cares for them just the same as she cares from everyone in their group.

What we get was just one episode where Donnie realizes he may have made April uncomfortable all this time, (only took him 2 seasons and a half, look at that, character growth everybody). He apologizes to April and get ready to move on from her and I thought this show is actually gonna be good about it.

And April kissed him, of course.

Fuck you, Nicklodean. Of course, why would I thought a kids show is gonna handle a topic like this maturely, why would I expect such caliber writing from a show that have proved before this that they could write emotionally intelligence moments??

For the other romance subplot, they're whatever.

Leo and Karai was controversial because of the whole, they're siblings so it's incest thing, but they dropped it almost immediately after Leo finds out Karai is Splinter's bio daughter. Their 'romance' started as attraction of something new, and ended like that too.

Mikey and Renet was pretty boring, it was just, well Mikey hasn't had a crush yet and we have another single female character, so why not? They're not bad, but doesn't really add anything to Mikey or anyone since Renet is not from their timeline.

There's also Mikey and Shinigami, but I don't remember that going anywhere. It was just another comic moments instead of adding anything to Mikey's or Shini's character.

Splinter/Tang Shen/Shredder whole fiasco serves only as context as to why everything is the way it is, but nothing really deep as the show didn't really go down that path, we get some few flashbacks scenes, and we get to see what truly happened when the turtles went back in time, but nothing truly game-changing other than the revelation that it was the turtles who saved Splinter back then.

This show has only one good romance and it is...

RAMONA

LOOK AT THEM!!!

They are perfect, probably the healthiest one in the show, and the cutest one consisting of the two (imo) most mature characters in the show.
