A historic gold pendant and chain, believed to be associated with Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon, has been revealed by the British Museum.
The artifact, made of gold and adorned with red and white enamel, was discovered by a metal-detectorist in Warwickshire and reported to the local Finds Liaison Officer of the Portable Antiquities Scheme, who then informed Historic England.
An archaeological excavation was conducted at the site to gather more information about the item and its location, reports Historic England .
Duncan Wilson, Chief Executive of Historic England noted:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A Symbol of Henry’s First Love
Henry VIII was the king of England from 1509 until his death in 1547.
He was well known for his six marriages and his role in the English Reformation, which led to the Church of England breaking away from the authority of the Pope.
Katherine of Aragon was Henry's first wife and was a Spanish princess who was highly respected by the English people.
The couple were married for over 20 years, but their marriage was annulled by the Pope, leading to a long-standing political and religious crisis that ultimately resulted in England breaking away from the Roman Catholic Church .
The pendant, which is heart-shaped and attached to a 75-link gold chain via an enameled “hand,” is thought to date back to the early 16th century, between 1509 and 1533, with the most likely date being around 1521.
The front of the pendant features the red and white Tudor rose symbol, intertwined with a pomegranate bush, which were the symbols of Henry and Katherine.
The back of the pendant features the letters H and K, for Henry and Katherine, in Lombardic script, linked by ribbon and featuring the legend "TOVS + IORS".
Tumblr media
According to experts, the pendant may have been produced quickly for a special event, such as a joust, and could have been used as a prize or worn by those participating.
Its design is similar to the horse bards used at a joust in Greenwich in 1521.
Perhaps this was a trinket from a joust in which Henry himself participated.
He was known as a skilled jouster. However, in 1536, he was torn from his horse and injured, knocked unconscious for 2 hours.
The location of this event was unknown until just 2 years ago, when it was revealed to be Greenwich Palace.
Showcasing British Antiquities
The pendant is being showcased by the British Museum to mark the launch of two annual reports, the Treasure Annual Report for 2020 and the Portable Antiquities Scheme Annual Report for 2021.
The Portable Antiquities Scheme, which is funded by the British Museum and the Department for Digital, Culture, Media, and Sport, records archaeological finds made by the public to advance knowledge and increase public interest in history.
The reports show that 45,581 archaeological finds were recorded in 2021, including 1,085 Treasure cases, with 96% of these discoveries made by metal detectorists.
The counties with the highest number of PAS finds in 2021 were Gloucestershire, Suffolk, and Lincolnshire, with significant numbers also recorded in other counties such as Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Kent, and Wiltshire.
The discovery of the Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon pendant highlights the significant contribution that everyday people, who enjoy metal detecting as a hobby, can make to the field of archaeology.
By recording these finds, they are helping to deepen our understanding of Britain's rich and fascinating past.

This heart-shaped pendant associated with Henry VIII and Katherine of Aragon was discovered by a metal-detectorist in Warwickshire and now is being unveiled to the public by the British Museum:
“The gold, heart-shaped pendant is attached to a 75-link gold chain via an enamelled ‘hand’.
The front of the pendant is decorated with a red and white Tudor rose motif entwined with a pomegranate bush, the symbols of Henry and Katherine. These stem from the same branch, which at its base has a tail, and sits above the inscription + TOVS + IORS - a pun on the French for ‘always’.
The back shows the letters H and K - for Henry and Katherine - in Lombardic script, linked by ribbon, again with the legend + TOVS + IORS.
Analysis dates the pendant as early 16th century, from 1509 – 1533 AD with a most likely date of around 1521.
It appears that the pendant was produced rapidly; it may have been used as a prize or worn by people participating in an event. The design of the pendant is like that used on horse bards at a joust in Greenwich in 1521.
It is being showcased by the British Museum to highlight the launch of two annual reports – the Treasure Annual Report for 2020 and the Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS) Annual Report for 2021.”

SGF India’s Deceptive Franchising Model Exposed: Scams And Politics Induces The Food Chain Business Owned By Kewal Ahuja
India has always remained as an emerging marketplace for franchise business. Franchising in India has witnessed a four-fold growth since 2013 and is estimated at USD 50.4 billion currently. Nowadays, more and more are starting to trust the ownership of Franchise and investing their hard-earned money with an expectation of getting a sustainable income for the months during the year. Covid has added fuel to this thought, because franchise ownership is an easy way to make money during these times. During COVID, most of the corporate professional tried their hands on opening an own business specially food and beverage industry.
SGF (Spice, Grill and Flame) is one among those franchisees, incorporated dated January 29th, 2019, with the main objective of providing food services and ancillary objective included the business activities related to this industry and having Liaison offices and services rendering. SGF’s Kewal Ahuja is one among those franchisee owners who has grown up well in this segment of business. He has become an owner of franchisee from few to many, from nowhere to everywhere. Paid PR and advertisement clean his image on media and social media.
The dream of the people who have joined hands with SGF in the franchising have now turned into a nightmare. Large sum was collected as franchise fee by SGF and this amount was not reported to regulators such as Income Tax Department and GST Council under regulatory filings. SGF is non-compliant in MCA filings as well. This report highlights the compliance irregularities and potential financial fraud. The facts discovered after a deep analysis of SGF and its sister concern company highlights that, both SGF and spice are registered at same address and Kewal Ahuja remains as key management in both the company. Both are related parties and spice is a sister concern of SGF. The sister concern - spice’s reported turnover for last 3 years are as follows:
Year – Turnover(INR)
2017-2018 – 1.26 crore
2018-2019 – 2.54 crore
2019-2020 – 2.70 crore
SGF in all these 3 years have reported NIL returns in GST and Income tax. However, the sister concern’s reported top line is mentioned above. This is a potential angle of fund misappropriation. SGF has a track record of statutory non-compliance. The details are as follows:
SGF was formed in year 2019 and first auditor was appointed on February 25th, 2019, however till march 2019, there was no available record with MCA for financial and annual filing.
Second auditor was appointed in SGF on 31/12/2020 for the period from 1st April 2019 till march 31st 2024. There is again no available record with MCA for financial and annual filing. The first auditor resigned in just few months and second auditor was appointed in extra ordinary general meeting, which raise an alarm.
SGF has not filed annual returns and financial statements with MCA for last 2 years which is a mandatory exercise for every PVT. Ltd company in India. If there is a further non-compliance for third year, MCA may start the process of striking off Suo moto. SGF has not initiated any e forms to correct the non-compliance which highlights the intent to not follow the going concern.
SGF has filed no income tax returns for the last three years. If the company is collecting franchise fee, the company should be filing the profit and loss account with the income tax department even if the net profit is NIL. This highlights malicious intent.
SGF has applied for 3 GST numbers. Out of these 3 GST numbers, 2 are registered in Delhi and Haryana state and the status is INACTIVE. These GST numbers are cancelled by GST council Suo moto. However, the GST number of Mumbai is active and there is no return filed by company since September 2021. If SGF has inactive GST registration, what was the objective of collecting GST from franchisee? This indicates a malicious intent.
Further, Kewal Ahuja is also the Treasurer of BJYM Delhi Pradesh and is focused on becoming a leading politician. Therefore, he also has his political influence to his advantage. All the people concerned and intending to invest in SGF should be cautious of this fraud, the better being refrained from investing in SGF owned by Kewal Ahuja.

Frydenberg-funded guide dog charity caught swindling taxpayers
New Post has been published on https://petnews2day.com/dog-news/frydenberg-funded-guide-dog-charity-caught-swindling-taxpayers/
Frydenberg-funded guide dog charity caught swindling taxpayers
A Melbourne “charity” whose CEO almost certainly broke federal laws by officially spruiking a sitting member of parliament is charging taxpayers four times what it was a decade ago to deliver just three-quarters of the services.
An in-depth investigation reveals Guide Dogs Victoria paid its disgraced CEO Karen Hayes increasingly eye-watering salaries over the past ten years, during which time its annual wages bill surged 40%, from $6.37 million to $9.44 million.
Last financial year it delivered just 35 guide dogs.
The taxpayer funds received by Guide Dogs Victoria for its ongoing operations exploded from $1 million a year a decade ago to $3.9 million last year.
Australian taxpayers are paying four times the amount for Guide Dogs Victoria’s ongoing operations than they were a decade ago, despite services plummeting (Source: Guide Dogs Victoria. Graphic: The Klaxon)
That’s before counting well over $10 million the charity has received in government grants for numerous “redevelopments” at its Melbourne headquarters since 2013 — much of it in pre-election announcements by the Federal Coalition.
Yet the services Guide Dogs Victoria are providing to the public have plummeted.
The number of guide dog users it is servicing each year – as well as the total clients it is assisting – have each fallen by 25% compared to a decade ago.
Last financial year, Guide Dogs Victoria allocated just 35 guide dogs to the blind or vision impaired — the same number as a decade earlier.
Guide Dogs allocated each year. Note, 2016 and 2017 figures are extrapolated due to missing data (Source: Guide Dogs Victoria. Graphic: The Klaxon)
That taxpayer funding for its ongoing operations – which it terms ‘government funding for services’ – is before including millions of dollars in grants for redevelopments at the charity’s headquarters in the inner-Melbourne suburb of Kew.
Those “redevelopment” grants started the day before the 2013 Federal Election, when the Federal Coalition promised $2 million, kicking off a decade of taxpayer-funded largess.
Those “redevelopment” grants include:
$2 million announced by the Federal Coalition the day before the 2013 Federal Election;
a major Federal Coalition grant paid just before the 2019 Federal Election (value undisclosed);
a $2.5 million Federal Coalition grant announced in 2020; and
a $5 million Victorian Government grant in 2018.
In addition, as previously revealed, in 2020 and 2021, Guide Dogs Victoria received $3.5 million under former Treasurer Josh Frydenberg’s JobKeeper program that it didn’t need.
(The cash went to bolstering its ‘cash at bank’ to $18.75 million, up from $16.65 million a year earlier.)
The slump in services provided by Guide Dogs Victoria is despite surging demand.
In 2012, the charity reported:
‘There are over 220,000 people with blindness or low vision in Victoria. This number is expected to increase to more than 350,000 people by the year 2020.’
Karen Hayes resigned as Guide Dogs Victoria CEO on Tuesday last week, six weeks after it emerged she had appeared in political advertisements spruiking Josh Frydenberg for re-election.
It is illegal for charities to promote politicians or political parties, in laws heavily advocated by Frydenberg and the former Federal Coalition Government.
Investigations show Hayes – whose remuneration is listed in the charity’s accounts under ‘Key Management Personnel’ – was paid a salary of $298,678 in 2014-15.
Last financial year, that figure ballooned to $553,000, which is more than half what the charity used to receive in total government funding every year.
Karen Haye’s’ eye-watering salary as charity CEO (Source: Guide Dogs Victoria. Graphic: The Klaxon)
In the 2011, 2012 and 2013 financial years – Hayes’ first three years as CEO – Guide Dogs Victoria received total government funding of between $1 million and $1.1 million each year.
In the 2019, 2020 and 2021 financial years, it received annual government funding of $3.6 million, $4.1 million and $3.9 million respectively.
The surge in taxpayer funding for its ongoing operations was underpinned by ballooning payments under the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).
The NDIS started on 1 July 2013.
Despite the charity’s poor performance, its NDIS payments surged from $1 million in 2016-17 to $3.1 million in 2019-20 and $2.8 million last financial year.
NDIS CEO Martin Hoffman was appointed to the role by the Federal Coalition in November 2019.
The NDIS has been criticised for major cost blow-outs and the ALP, when in opposition, raised serious concerns over Hoffman’s performance.
On Wednesday, it was announced Hoffman had resigned.
On Friday last week, it was announced Gary Johns, the Coalition-appointed, highly-controversial boss of charities regulator the Australian Charities and Not-for-Profits Commission (ACNC) had also resigned.
That move was welcomed by Dr Andrew Leigh, the new Assistance Charities Minister.
‘The Election ended the Liberals’ nine-year war on charities,’ Leigh said.
Last month, it was revealed the ACNC was falsely claiming “secrecy provisions” in the ACNC Act meant it was legally prevented from commenting on the scandal engulfing Hayes and Frydenberg.
Before being appointed to head the ACNC by the Federal Coalition in 2017, Johns had run an anti-charity arm of the Institute of Public Affairs, a secretive U.S.-style dark money lobby group.
Guide Dogs Victoria’s board has repeatedly refused to respond to written questions regarding its financial position and its payments to Hayes, including refusing to confirm her salary.
Hayes has also repeatedly refused to comment.
Frydenberg was the member for Kooyong, in Melbourne’s inner-east, between 2010 and late last month, when he lost the seat at the Federal Election to Independent Dr Monique Ryan, a neurologist.
Guide Dogs Victoria is located in the suburb of Kew, which, as Frydenberg said in a May 2013 speech to Federal Parliament, is “in the heart of my electorate of Kooyong”.
He was appointed Federal Treasurer and Deputy Leader of the Liberal Party four years ago, in August 2018.
It was Frydenberg who directed much of the taxpayer funding to Guide Dogs Victoria over the past decade.
He has repeatedly declined to comment when contacted.
Silence
On 20 April, it emerged that Guide Dogs Victoria CEO Hayes had appeared in advertisements spruiking Frydenberg under the heading ‘Why I am voting for Josh Frydenberg’.
On that day, the Guide Dogs Victoria board released a statement saying it had launched an internal investigation.
The board claimed to have been unaware of the ads before they were published.
Frydenberg was forced to pull the Hayes advertisements, along with similar ads he had run featuring Cate Sayers, the founder of charity Inclusion Foundation. (More on Sayers here and here.)
A week later, on 26 April, the Guide Dogs Victoria board released a statement saying Hayes had been stood down pending an internal investigation.
(Guide Dogs Victoria has since deleted those 20 April and 26 April announcements from its website.)
Karen Hayes in one of the Frydenberg advertisements (Source: Josh Frydenberg)
Just over two weeks ago, on the night of the Federal Election, Frydenberg fronted the nation’s TV cameras having received a drubbing in the polls.
He gave a shout-out to Hayes, who he said was “one of the best CEOs in Australia”.
He provided no context to the statement.
On Monday evening last week, two days after the Federal Election, a series of questions was asked about Hayes and the Frydenberg advertisements to the Guide Dogs Victoria board.
The board did not respond, but the following day it and Hayes released statements saying Hayes had resigned.
Those statements make no mention of the scandal that saw Hayes ousted.
Guide Dogs Victoria spokesman Tim Lele, from external communications company Keep Left, said the “internal investigation” – launched six weeks earlier – was being conducted by an external party and that it was ongoing.
The board of Guide Dogs Victoria repeatedly refused to comment when asked why the investigation remained ongoing, who was conducting it, how much it was costing the charity and whether its findings would be released to the public.
Current board members include:
Charles Thompson, a mergers and acquisitions lawyer and former senior executive at Toll Holdings and Australia Post;
David Cochrane, a former Ernst Young and PriceWaterhouseCoopers accountant who now runs a private consultancy servicing government; and
Bruce Brook, a former ANZ Bank executive who is currently a director of Newmont Mining Corporation and chemicals company Incitec Pivot Limited.
Chair Iain Edwards, who is visually impaired and uses one of the charity’s guide dogs, is a physiotherapist.
He joined the board as a director in 2011 and became chair in 2018-19.
Thompson, who was also formerly a management consultant with Boston Consulting Group, joined the board as a director in 2014 and was chair from 2015-16 to 2018-19.
The board of the charity moved to be far more “corporatised” from mid-2015.
Charles Thompson started as chair in 2015-16 (Source: Guide Dogs Victoria)
Before then, the chair was Russell Walker and the deputy chair was John Rayner.
Walker’s bio in the charity’s 2015 annual report states that he previously spent 20 years as the Auditor General of Victoria and that he ‘and his wife Marlene have been contributors in various areas of Guide Dogs Victoria’ for ‘over 22 years’.
Rayner’s bio states his background is in software development and ‘I.T. education’, that he had been appointed a director in 2010, and that ‘he and his wife Anne have been Puppy Raisers with Guide Dogs Victoria since 2000’.
Both men left amid the 2015 board overhaul.
Determining exactly how much Guide Dogs Victoria has cost taxpayers in recent years is difficult because its reporting becomes increasingly patchy from 2015.
That was also when Guide Dogs Victoria stopped reporting its key information in a single annual report, instead publishing it across up to four separate documents.
Every document the charity has published over the past ten years was analysed.
Between 2010 and 2013, its cost to taxpayers is clearly identified and appears as ‘government grants’, which total just over $1 million in each of those three years.
From 2013, when the NDIS began, and 2017, when Guide Dogs Victoria started identifying its NDIS receipts as such, there is another revenue category.
It’s called ‘government grants for services’ and it’s in addition to the existing ‘government grants’ category.
Between 2013 and 2017, payments to the charity under that new category (which appear to be mostly, if not entirely, NDIS payments) average just under $400,000 a year.
In the 2018-2021 financial years, the charity’s receipts under the NDIS are more clearly identified.
They grow from $1 million a year in 2018 to around $3 million a year in each of the past two financial years.
On top of those payments are the $10 million-plus in government grants the charity has received for various redevelopments.

This coming investigation was announced publicly on Monday.
Statements regarding the Guide Dogs Victoria grants were removed from Frydenberg’s website sometime between then and Thursday afternoon.
(The relevant links above were captured by internet archive Wayback Machine on 22 May, the day after the Federal Election.)
Upgrade
On 6 September 2013, Tony Abbott, Joe Hockey and Frydenberg visited Guide Dogs Victoria’s Kew complex and announced that, if elected, the Coalition would provide $2 million to Guide Dogs Victoria to ‘upgrade its veterinary clinic, custom boarding kennels and breeding centre’.
The Coalition won the Federal Election the next day, with Abbott becoming Prime Minister and Hockey Federal Treasurer.
Guide Dogs Victoria said the funds meant it could ‘make an unprecedented level of improvement to our essential infrastructure’ which ‘will better support the expansion of our current dog breeding program’.
In March 2016, ahead of that year’s Federal Election, Frydenberg visited Guide Dogs Victoria to officially open the new facilities funded by the $2 million grant, which the charity said had allowed it to upgrade and modernise its facilities.
Frydenberg said:
“The result is that Guide Dogs Victoria now has 55 sleeping kennels and 11 kennel yards, as well as three new whelping rooms capable of housing up to 30 pups.”
(Guide Dogs Victoria’s account shows those “significant works” were funded by the Coalition’s $2 million along with two donations from the public totalling $1.24 million.)
Despite that upgrade and against the backdrop of surging taxpayer funds for its ongoing operations, the services delivered by the charity have slumped.
In the 2012 and 2013 financial years, it provided services to 275 and 303 total guide dog users respectively.
Last financial year, that had fallen to just 243.
(Guide Dogs Victoria provides ongoing services to guide dog users who have previously been allocated guide dogs.)
The total number of clients assisted is a broader measure that also includes people to whom the charity provided mobility or orientation services, such as instruction on how to use a cane or use public transport.
It also fell substantially — from 1,614 clients in 2012-13 to just 1,227 last financial year.
That is, Guide Dogs Victoria was assisting over 30% more clients a decade ago.
In 2018, Frydenberg announced another major Guide Dogs Victoria grant (the value was not disclosed) when he visited on 5 June that year. The grant was paid to the charity just before the May 2019 Federal Election.
Then, in April 2020, Frydenberg and former Deputy PM Michael McCormack announced another $2.5 million — again for a “facilities upgrade”, this time to create ‘the world’s first state-of-the-art sensory campus’.
Frydenberg said:
“I am thrilled the Federal Government is able to invest $2.5 million in this project which will benefit the many Victorians who require a Guide Dog or other services due to blindness or low vision.”
Frydenberg announcing the September 2013 $2 million grant has been paid (Source: Office of Josh Frydenberg)
The need for the services of Guide Dogs Victoria was “greater than ever”, Frydenberg said, with “approximately 15,000 Victorians diagnosed with some form of irreversible vision loss every year”.
In 2018, the charity received a $5 million grant from the Victorian Government for the proposed “state-of-the-art sensory campus”.
The ACNC website contains “Annual Information Statements” for Guide Dogs Victoria, which from 2013-14 include a figure titled ‘revenue from government including grants’.
How that figure is calculated is unclear, although analysis shows it understates the total amount of money received from taxpayers.
For example, only $1.1 million of the Victorian Government’s $5 million is shown, due to an accounting measure whereby those payments are only recorded incrementally, as the development progresses.
Regardless, the data shows surging taxpayer funding.

Dog days
Detailed analysis reveals the number of guide dogs “allocated” fell from 45 in 2019-20 to 35 last financial year, which was the same number as a decade earlier.
Despite it being the charity’s core reason for existing, determining this information from its annual reporting data is challenging.
Guide Dogs Victoria presents the figures as a combined total of guide dogs and “other assistance dogs” allocated.
Other assistance dogs are “pets as therapy dogs”, “companion dogs”, “breeding dogs” and “PTSD dogs”.
The overall levels are similarly low. In 2020-21 there were 66 “guide dogs and other assistance dogs” allocated, down from 74 the year before.
Over the past decade, the only times the charity did not – at least somewhere in its accounts – also report the figure of guide dogs allocated was in the 2015-16 and 2016-17 financial years.
Those two years were when the charity allocated its lowest number of “guide dogs and other assistance dogs” (37 in 2015-16 and 45 in 2016-17).
(In the graphic at top, for those two years, it is estimated the “guide dogs” provided based on the proportion of guide dogs to “other assistance dogs” allocated in the other eight years of the decade.)
The charity has published an ‘Audited Performance Statement’ as part of its annual accounts since 2015.
It stipulates guide dog allocations are a ‘key performance indicator’ with annual targets set by the ‘Guide Dogs Victoria strategic review’.
The charity failed to meet every one of its guide dog allocations targets (including by 34% in 2015-16 and by 33% in 2016-17).
In 2019, after missing the guide dog allocation targets for four consecutive years, it stopped publishing targets altogether.
The impact of the systemic and ongoing sub-standard performance of Guide Dogs Victoria is unclear; the charity stopped reporting how many people were on its guide dog waiting list in 2015.
(It was 14 people in each of the 2013 and 2014 financial years.)
In its financial report for the 2014 financial year, the charity clearly sets out the ‘total compensation’ paid to Hayes and it is broken down between ‘short-term benefits’, ‘post-employment benefits’ and ‘other long-term benefits’.
Under the heading ‘key management personnel’, it reports the total compensation paid to ‘the person’ having authority over ‘controlling the activities of the company’.
(Hayes’ total remuneration that year was $298,678, it shows.)
From 2015, the description changes slightly and instead refers to ‘any person(s)’ having authority over controlling the activities of the company.
This introduces the possibility that those ‘key management personnel’ payments could include people other than Hayes, although it appears this is almost certainly not the case.
All financial reports state the directors of the charity are unpaid.
The breakdown of the types of compensation (such as short-term and long-term) also disappears from 2015.
At the same time, the total annual compensation figure starts to surge:
$332,385 in 2015-16;
$452,868 in 2016-17;
$517,688 in 2017-18;
$567,459 in 2018-19;
$505,181 in 2019-20; and
$535,000 in 2020-21.
According to her LinkedIn profile, Hayes ‘is recognised as a dynamic influencer in the Australian Not-for-Profit Sector’.
It goes on to state:
‘Since November 2011, she has been the CEO of the Victorian Division of Guide Dogs Australia, which is currently Australia’s “Most Trusted Charity”, for the 7th year in a row.’

Diamond Market Background - Business
youtube
The 1939 US advertising campaign 'Diamonds are Without end' continues to be serving to De Beers shift its precious stones. Have helped push diamond jewellery sales to a report 55bn last yr. Nonetheless, https://ammofield.com/sig-sauer-m400/ come in many types, and while all diamonds are being seen as a stable alternative investment it is the colored diamonds, most notable the pink diamonds which are actually being seen as the stand out investment opportunity. Owned by one of many diamond giants, Rio Tinto, the Argyle Mine located in the East Kimberley region in the remote north of Western Australia has been a source of colored diamonds since 1983. The mine is the world's largest provider of pure coloured diamonds producing over 90% of the highest high quality pink diamonds. In recent years there was an enormous interest in these diamonds and a few notable sales at public sale have grabbed the headlines, not to say the eye of buyers around the globe. While non colored diamond costs have remained fairly steady the announcement that the Argyle mine would stop producing pink diamonds as early as 2020 has driven the demand, and value of these diamonds soaring. As might be mentioned within this report the outlook for the marketplace for diamonds as an investment is constructive, but inside that the demand seen for pink diamonds is especially notable. The diamond industry has enjoyed a exceptional run of success for the reason that mid-twentieth century, compiling a report of robust growth and recovering with spectacular speed and resiliency from macroeconomic and political turbulence. As financial markets have been in turmoil from global recessions, and the price of gold has wildly fluctuated, buyers have increasingly turned to various investments to supply a safe haven for his or her wealth. More and more traders have began taking a look at diamonds as a brand new alternative to safely invest and earn money, especially in China and India, where, 45% and 50% of peopleperceive diamonds as the alternative investment in line with figures from Bain. However, funding demand stays relatively low, despite diamonds' attractiveness as an funding and the trade is supporting initiatives to drive ahead the long-time period growth of this demand. Demand for diamonds as investments remains to be fairly restricted, accountingfor lower than 5% of the entire worth of polished diamonds. In comparison to different treasured metals this is comparatively small suggesting that there is plenty of room to grow the diamond investment market. With the trade focussing on the selling diamonds as a viable alternative supply of investment the way forward for diamond investing is brilliant. To gauge the importance of that quantity-and hence the market's development potential-it is helpful to compare funding demand for diamonds with investment demand for treasured metals akin to gold and platinum. Traders searching for an alternative funding prospect would do effectively to consider diamonds, which traditionally have combined low volatility with worth development in excess of the inflation rate. Overall, polished-diamond costs have risen at a compound annual price of 5% since 2009, increased than the inflation rate, and certain categories of diamonds, particularly colored diamonds, have grown at even greater rates. At the identical time, diamond costs have been more stable than these of silver, gold, and platinum, fluctuating 12% since 2009, 2.Eight instances lower than silver costs, 1.6 occasions lower than gold prices, and 1.1 instances lower than platinum costs. In accordance with the most recent figures from Bain, in 2014 and the first half of 2015, revenue across the diamond industry worth chain grew by 4% to 8%. While China has seen a slow-down in demand the US has seen growth. Analysts predict that the market due to positive macroeconomic outlooks the worth will continue to indicate regular progress. The lengthy-term outlook for the diamond market stays positive, with demand expected to outpace provide beginning in 2019. The availability of rough diamonds in value terms is predicted to decline by 1% to 2% per year through 2030 signalling the prospect of strong progress in the value of present diamond throughout the market. Demand for white diamonds globally has stalled considerably attributable to a slowing Chinese financial system, foreign money devaluation in Russia and low oil costs in the Center East. The supply aspect of this market stays robust and whilst the outlook is stable, as famous above, there is little signal of considerably robust progress. Nevertheless, throughout the identical time, colored diamonds have surged in worth. Buyers have sought them out for his or her magnificence, extreme rarity and funding potential and with the imminent closure of the Argyle mine this tendencies appears set to continue. For each 10,000 carats of diamonds that are cut, a mere one-carat might possess fancy colour. Of those colours the pink diamonds are maybe essentially the most sought after and over 90% of those pink diamonds are mined at the Argyle Mine, situated within the East Kimberley area in the distant north of Western Australia. It is the one recognized important source of pink and purple diamonds. According to Rio Tinto, indices show that Argyle pink diamonds have increased in value, on average, 15% a 12 months for the final ten years. With the imminent closure of the mine now reported at being as soon as 2020 the diamonds are set to develop into much more rare. The coloured diamond sector has just lately acquired mainstream media attention through a mixture of document breaking sales and superstar interest. This, mixed with the information that the Arglye Diamond Mine will stop operations within the not too distant future has propelled price increases. Once the mine closes it's predicted that prices will as soon as again soar. 9mm Rifle are a remarkably good funding. Prices for the finest quality colored diamonds have elevated in value by an average of between 10%-15% per yr, which signifies that some have, on common, doubled in price every 5 years at the dealer stage. Some of the ore fascinating pieces are seeing even stronger development than this - see beneath. Demand and curiosity in these diamonds has rocketed with investment funds increasingly turning to rare Argyle pink diamonds as an funding as costs for the stones proceed to rise. One of many exclusive sellers of Argyle pink diamonds, Linneys, says plenty of the stones are being purchased for self-managed superannuation funds (SMSF). Of a group of 15 pink diamonds displayed by Linneys, CEO David Fardon has said that it was possible that no less than a few of the gathering would find yourself inside Australian tremendous funds. Mr Fardon lately stated. In the meantime in the USA Martin Rapaport, chairman of the Rapaport Group, which is taken into account a main source of diamond pricing information said "Fancy coloured diamonds are the taste of the yr - they're sizzling, they're sexy, they're great". According to The Fancy Colour Analysis Foundation the worth of fancy blue and pink diamonds continued to rise by means of the primary part of 2016 in line with long-term developments through which continued demand-pushed worth will increase for pink and blue fancy colour diamonds are partially offset by continued price declines for decrease-cost, business yellow fancy color diamonds. Statistics from th FCRF present that in comparison with other colored diamonds Pinks have performed remarkably nicely. There might be few other investments which have proven such strong development over the past ten years. Whereas Blue and Yellow diamonds have performed nicely with appreciations of over 50%, pinks have massively outpaced them with a staggering appreciation of 379%. Moreover, forecasts predict that this progress is set to proceed. The FCRF Advisory Board chairman Eden Rachminov commented that "unsurprisingly, fancy intense and fancy vivid shade diamonds of all colours enjoy strong demand available in the market, anacortes telescope driven mainly by supply scarcity that is unlikely to alter within the foreseeable future". Diamond sellers predict that there will likely be a 'frenzy' for pink diamonds in the following five years as provide decreases and the Argyle Mine starts to wind down operations. While there is strong demand for pink diamonds as stand aloneitems because of their relative rarity. Magnificence many there is also a robust demand for bespoke pieces using coloured diamonds. Many designers and jewellers are using pink diamonds to create unique pieces which are nonetheless an incredible investment but also a pleasure to personal. Different alternatives exist to stimulate demand for diamonds over the long run, chief among them the development of a market for diamonds as an investment. But complexities and challenges hinder that market's improvement, and overcoming them will require the trade's collective effort. Shopper demand accounts for 95% of at this time's diamond market; demand for funding diamonds accounts for less than 5% of the total worth of polished diamonds. While nonetheless in its infancy the investment market forall diamonds, together with pink diamonds is gathering momentum. Already there was robust curiosity in present provides of pink diamonds from funding funds and individuals alike.

BLM leaders are warned they will be held personally liable if they fail to disclose details of $60M in donations by California DoJ - as charities' financial mysteries deepen
Tumblr media
The leaders of Black Lives Matter could be held personally liable if they fail to disclose financial records about the charity's $60 million in donations within the next 60 days.
In a letter issued to BLM on Monday, the California Department of Justice accused the charity of failing to submit its annual financial reports and alleged it was in delinquent status.
'An organization that is delinquent, suspended or revoked is not in good standing and is prohibited from engaging in conduct for which registration is required, including soliciting or disbursing charitable funds,' the letter reads.
The DOJ requested a copy of BLM's annual registration renewal fee report and its 2020 IRS tax forms within two months time.
If the organization fails to submit these documents, its charity exemption status will be revoked. It could also face fines for 'each month or partial month for which the report(s) are delinquent.'
The letter, which was obtained by the Washington Examiner, threatened that 'directors, trustees, officers and return preparers' would be 'personally liable' for 'all penalties, interest and other costs incurred to restore exempt status'. The DOJ notes that 'charitable assets cannot be used to pay these avoidable costs'.
The notice comes just days after it was revealed that BLM has not had anyone in charge of its finances since co-founder Patrisse Cullors resigned last May.
It is not clear who is currently in charge of the activist group after all three of its founding members - Cullors, Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi  - left the organization.
Tumblr media
Cullors, 38, stepped down as executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network (BLMGN) last year amid scrutiny of her $3.2 million property empire.
The scrutiny into BLMGN's also finances comes after it was reported that the group transferred $6.3 million to Cullors spouse, Janaya Khan, and other Canadian activists to purchase a mansion in Toronto in 2001.
California's warning follows an order from Washington state instructing BLM to 'immediately cease' fundraising in the state due to its 'lack of financial transparency'.
However, the Washington Examiner alleges BLM continues to solicit and receive contributions from Washington state residents despite the order.
The National Legal and Policy Center, a conservative watchdog group, is reportedly preparing to file a complaint against the charity.
'The National Legal and Policy Center will be filing a formal complaint with the Attorneys General of Washington and California to impose the maximum penalties on BLMGNF for their flagrant and repeated violations of the charity disclosure laws in those states and it seems in many others,' attorney Paul Kamenar told the newspaper Tuesday.
The watchdog group's complaint comes as charity auditors have expressed alarm at the management of BLM's $60 million in donations, after it emerged that people announced as leading the organization never took up the role, and no one seemed able to say who was handling the finances.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The most recent tax filing for the charity, from 2019, gives an address in Los Angeles that does not exist, and the two remaining BLM directors identified by The Washington Examiner were not able to assist - with one even scrubbing BLM associations from his social media after he was contacted by the paper.
They are yet to file a 2020 return, a Form 990, as required - which could see BLM fined by the IRS.
Laurie Styron, executive director of CharityWatch, said the findings were deeply troubling, and said they should have filed their 2020 form by now.
'Like a giant ghost ship full of treasure drifting in the night with no captain, no discernible crew, and no clear direction,' she said.
Kamenar told the paper a full audit was needed, describing the situation as 'grossly irregular'.
Expert allege the problem began in earnest in May 2021, when Cullors stepped down as director of BLMGN, the national body representing all the individual local chapters.
Cullors co-founded BLM in July 2013, after a Florida jury acquitted George Zimmerman in the killing of 17-year-old Trayvon Martin.
Alicia Garza, an Oakland activist, posted what she called a love letter to black people on Facebook, writing, 'Our lives matter.' Cullors, a friend of Garza, replied with the hashtag #BlackLivesMatter.
New York activist Opal Tometi then used the words while building a digital network of community organizers and antiracism activists.
Tumblr media
Garza and Tometi are no longer affiliated with the network, and Cullors was its figurehead and leader throughout the George Floyd protests - which saw huge donations flood in.
The organization's finances had been managed by a group called Thousand Currents, which says it has a 'mission of supporting grassroots movements pushing for a more just and equitable world.'
In the summer of 2020, leaders sought nonprofit status with the IRS, which was granted in December 2020 - allowing the organization to receive tax-deductible donations directly.  The designation requires the foundation to file public 990 forms, revealing details of its organizational structure, employee compensation, programming and expenses.
Tumblr media
In September 2020, Cullors signed documents with Thousand Currents transferring $66.5 million into BLM's accounts.
In February 2021, Black Lives Matter confirmed it took in $90 million throughout 2020, distributed to their partner organizations, and had $60 million remaining in its accounts.
In its report, a snapshot of which was shared with AP, the BLM foundation said individual donations via its main fundraising platform averaged at $30.76 each.
More than 10 percent of the donations were recurring.
The report does not state who gave the money in 2020, and leaders declined to name prominent donors.
Expenses were approximately $8.4 million — that includes staffing, operating and administrative costs, along with activities such as civic engagement, rapid response and crisis intervention.
BLM said at the time that they were sharing the details in a bid to be more transparent - admitting that their structure and finances had previously been opaque.
But two months later, in April 2021, reports began emerging - provided by the National Legal and Policy Center - which showed Cullors had amassed a $3.2 million property empire.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cullors owned four properties - three in the Los Angeles area and one outside of Atlanta - the researchers found.
Many within BLM turned against Cullors, questioning where she had accumulated the money. Cullors has written two books, has a deal with YouTube, and signed a production deal with Warner Bros. in 2020 to develop programming 'for children, young adults and families.'
However, amid the furor she stood down and announced that two people were taking over as executive directors - Makani Themba and Monifa Bandele.
Yet Themba and Bandele in September said that they had never taken up the roles, following disagreements with leadership.
'Although a media advisory was released indicating that we were tapped to play the role of senior co-executives at BLMGN, we were not able to come to an agreement with the acting Leadership Council about our scope of work and authority,' they said in a statement.
'As a result, we did not have the opportunity to serve in this capacity.'
Themba and Bandele said they did not know who was now running BLM, as their discussions never progressed.
Two other people remained on the board, after Cullors' departure - Shalomyah Bowers and Raymond Howard, according to undated documents obtained by The Washington Examiner.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bowers served as the treasurer for multiple activist organizations run by Cullors, The Washington Examiner reported, including BLM PAC and a Los Angeles-based jail reform group that paid Cullors $20,000 a month and spent nearly $26,000 on 'meetings' at a luxury Malibu beach resort in 2019.
Bowers has not commented on the current status of the $60 million in the BLM coffers.
Howard also refused to comment when asked by the paper, and has since updated his LinkedIn page to remove references to his work with 'an international social justice organization'.
Meanwhile, Cullors has been tied to even more charities whose finances raise 'red flags' after the organization donated hundreds of thousands to the nonprofits which then made payments to Cullors and her business partners, according to a new report on the organization's spending.
Cullors, 38, who stepped down as executive director of the Black Lives Matter Global Network last year amid scrutiny of her $3.2 million property empire, had designated some of the $90 million the nonprofit made in 2020 to prison reform charities.
One of the groups, Reform LA Jails that Cullors founded, had received $1.4 million, of which $205,000 went to the consulting firm owned by Cullors and her spouse, Janaya Khan, New York Magazine reported.
Reform LA Jails then gave $270,000 to Christman Bowers, treasurer of the Black Lives Matter PAC; $211,000 to Asha Bandelle, a friend of Cullors' who co-wrote her memoir; and another $86,000 to Trap Heals LLC, an entertainment, clothing and consulting company started by Damon Turner, the father of Cullor's child.

Another of my illustrations for The Institute for Bird Populations 2020 Annual Report. This is a White-crowned Sparrow perched on top of Peter Pyle’s Identification Guide to North American Birds - second edition! This edition is not out yet but I’m proud to be part of the team currently working on the revisions and updates.
This book is affectionately referred to as “the bird bander’s bible” - it contains a wealth of information about birds that many people never see! Did you know you can determine whether or not an American Crow is an adult based on the color of the inside of its mouth? Or that you can tell the specific region the above White-crowned Sparrow came from based on details like the colors of the lores and bill? (Spoiler: this subspecies is found only from coastal SW British Columbia through California.) It’s a real treasure trove!

Week 7 - Public Health Campaigns and Communities
We humans nowadays living a much better life as compared to the communities way back in the 60s and 70s but with all of the technologies invented and also how convenient our lives have become, health problems are getting "younger" due to the high standard of living. For the past years, health issues had increased significantly among teenagers and young adults. It normal now to just pour some hot water and get yourself a cup noodle for lunch or when you're thirsty, just pop open a can of soft drink. But are all of these good for our health? Not to mention that junk foods are also getting more and more popular nowadays where mostly are either too sweet, too salty and with lots of preservatives. Smoking, alcohols, unhealthy diets are all causes of health problems in this era.
Tumblr media
It's also funny that eat healthy cost more than unhealthy food like KFC and McDonald's. Do public health campaigns really have an impact on the communities? Let's find out!
Tumblr media
Public Health Campaigns in Malaysia
There are many types of "killer" in Malaysia - "Heart attack, Cancer, Obesity, Diabetes", especially with COVID-19 all around the world now, if you're having health issues you will be in high risk. Several NGOs and also the government did organize some public health campaigns such as "1 Health 1 Malaysia", "Prevent Obesity" and "Tak Nak". Speaking of "Tak Nak" anti-smoking campaign, it had been so popular way back in around 15 years ago when it started in 2004. There are posters all around Malaysia and students are often given talks about how bad is smoking and how will it harm our health. These are all of the effort in introducing the disadvantages of smoking to the students at a young age so that they will know not to touch those in the future. Tobacco also accounts for a large portion of the disease burden in developing countries, and currently ranked fourth in the world in its contribution to years of life (Ministry of Health Malaysia, 2021). “According to Hospital Kuala Lumpur (HKL), it was reported that there were 25,688 dialysis patients and 1,884 registered kidney receivers at the end of 2011. As such, health campaigns like this help foster greater awareness on kidney disease, and the importance of healthcare and preventive methods.
Role social media can play in public health
Newberry (2020) stated that social media and healthcare are a powerful combination and social networks have become an important health resource, and not just for millennials. She also mentioned that nearly 90% of older adults have used social media to seek and share health information. Social media is a key way to raise public awareness about new, emerging, and annual health concerns in this modern era. There are now many online fitness classes in different platforms such as YouTube and Facebook trying to reach out to as many people as they could to spread the awareness of being healthy. Even the Malaysian government utilizes Facebook to share on the news about COVID-19 everyday so that it can reach everyone who are using social media which is fairly common now. People can then share the post in their new feeds and reach out even more crowd. The biggest benefit of social media in healthcare is information dissemination where it allows health institutions and organizations to share discoveries, research, health tips and recommendations, and relevant news to the people (Patient Empowerment Network, 2019).
Social Media vs Mental Illness
Social media has become a prominent fixture in the lives of many individuals facing the challenges of mental illness (Naslud et al., 2020). Those who are suffering from mental illness are unlikely to just say it out to people around them but prefer to just express their feelings on the social media, keeping themselves anonymous. This is to protect themselves from others judging them. Other the other hand, most of the time, an act of commit suicide are shown through social media which then alarms everyone around the person that is about to commit suicide and hopefully prevent that horrible tragedy from happening. In the eras where social media don't exist, people suffering from mental illness have no where to "go", they might "locked" themselves down without anyone knowing it and it's really dangerous that way. If they can express through social media and their friends are aware of it, there might still be a chance in helping them get out from that box. Among individuals with serious mental illness receiving community-based mental health services, a recent study found equivalent rates of social media use as the general population, even exceeding 70% of participants (Naslund et al. 2016).
Tumblr media
The connection of social media and health
In fact, social media never left us when we talk about health, even through a small act. From YouTubers demonstrating how to eat clean, workout, stay fit to healthcare professionals sharing their thoughts on health and diseases that we are facing in 21st century. Checking COVID-19 reports provided by Kementerian Kesihatan Malaysia had became a daily task for everyone to keep themselves updated about the cases around Malaysia and how to avoid them. It had turned into a way for the community to remind themselves to stay safe at all times, protecting themselves and also others. Hashtags like #kitajagakita is also use to remind everyone to keep it hands sanitized, follow the SOPs to prevent the spread of COVID-19. There are also many examples of people successfully cut down their weight after hitting the gym and eating healthy to overcome their obesity problems. The before and after effect will surely impact some ratio of the community to be motivated in also follow their path to get healthy.
Tumblr media
With that, we can really see that how important social media is towards the health and how we can promote public health campaigns through it to reach to the maximum people that we can. Hopefully, the overall average health of the community will be getting better with the help of social media and people motivating each other to stay health for what's really called a "better life" in the future. Would you rather enjoy high standard living when you're young and ignoring your health but end up in hospitals for the rest of your life when you body collapse due to health issues? That's up to your choice but the truth is - Health is the most precious treasure anyone can own; Health is everything.

15th Century Gold Coin Hoard Found in Garden
An important hoard of Tudor coins – some of which shine light on the marriage history of Henry VIII – has been found by a somewhat startled family weeding their garden.
The British Museum revealed details on Wednesday of discoveries registered to its Portable Antiquities Scheme (PAS), the majority of which are made by the nation’s army of metal-detecting enthusiasts.
This year there has been an increase in garden finds, including two significant coin hoards: the Tudor coins in the New Forest, and 50 apartheid-era South African gold coins dug up in a back garden in the Milton Keynes area.
More than 47,000 finds have been recorded with the scheme in 2020, with 6,251 reported during the full lockdown from March to May, when metal detecting was prohibited.
Ian Richardson, the treasure registrar at the museum, said people had obviously been spending more time in their garden, “resulting in completely unexpected archaeological discoveries”.
That was certainly the case for the unnamed New Forest family who dug up 63 gold coins and one silver coin dating from the 15th and 16th centuries. “They were out turning up the soil and all of a sudden these coins popped out of the ground … miraculously,” said Richardson. “It is quite a shocking find for them and very interesting for us.”
Probably hidden in about 1540, they include coins from Henry VIII’s reign, which are unusual in that they also, separately, feature the initials of three of his wives – Catherine of Aragon (K), Anne Boleyn (A) and Jane Seymour (I).
Barrie Cook, a curator of medieval and early modern coins at the museum, said putting his wives’ initials on gold crowns was “a very strange decision” and, numismatically, very interesting.
Whoever buried the coins was well off, because the total value of the hoard was £24, equivalent to £14,000 today. “That was a great deal of money, certainly more than the annual wages of the average person,” said Cook.
The Tudor hoard contains coins from the time of Edward IV through to his grandson Henry VIII, with the bulk being “angels”, gold coins that have on their back an image of the archangel Michael killing a dragon as described in the book of Revelation. “That’s the workaday gold coin of the late medieval and early modern period,” said Cook.
In 1526 Henry and Cardinal Wolsey reorganised the coinage, changing their weight and introducing new denominations such as the five-shilling gold coin, which eventually replaced the angel.
“Not only does he change denominations, he has this very strange decision of putting his wife’s initial on the coin,” said Cook.
Curators said there was no precedent for the placing of Henry’s wives initials on the coinage, and it’s hard to know why they did. It meant the initial had to be changed on a fairly regular basis. Henry divorced Catherine of Aragon, his first wife, in 1533, angry after she failed to produce a male heir. He was also by then infatuated with Anne Boleyn.
The marriage to Anne, which led to the break with the Catholic church and the English Reformation, lasted only three years as Anne also failed to give him a son. She was found guilty of adultery and treason and beheaded on 19 May 1536.
Next was Jane Seymour, who managed to avoid divorce or beheading but tragically not an early death. She died in 1537 because of postnatal complications two weeks after giving birth to the son who became Edward VI.
Having an initial only lasted until Jane and was not repeated for Anne of Cleves (divorced), Catherine Howard (beheaded) or Catherine Parr (survived).
John Naylor, a coin expert from the Ashmolean museum, said the hoard was probably buried by a wealthy merchant or a member of the clergy. “You have this period in the late 1530s and 1540s where you have the Dissolution of the Monasteries and we do know that some churches did try to hide their wealth, hoping they would be able to keep it in the long term. It is an important hoard … You don’t get these big gold hoards very often from this period.”
The Milton Keynes discovery is less interesting historically, but still something of a puzzle. In total, 50 South African Krugerrand 1oz gold coins, minted in the 1970s, were discovered in the back garden. How they ended up there remains a mystery, the museum said.
Other finds listed in the report include a unique Roman furniture fitting with the “remarkably” well-preserved face of the god Oceanus and a medieval forgery of a bishop’s seal matrix.
The museum also published its annual PAS report for 2019, which reveals that 81,602 archaeological finds were recorded – an increase of 10,000 on the previous year.

There are two basic types of arrangements made by pension trustees. They could be individuals or companies. Individual trustees are limited to those people who are members of the scheme. For instance, the trustee could be a close relative of the deceased employer, or someone who is connected with the company at one point. Company pension trustees are generally those who are directors or owners of the company that makes the contributions to the scheme.

- February 2021. Ohio's state treasurer found that six trustees had improperly sold an unlimited number of pension benefit plans. A report released by the treasurer also stated that several of the pension plan's beneficiaries had received notice of wage garnishments. The state planned to audit the trust deeds of the remaining trustees.

https://burnley.trusted-pensions.co.uk/ are involved in the buying, selling and distributing of pension schemes in the United Kingdom. This is a highly skilled and sensitive post and a pension trustee has to undertake a number of complex tasks. In fact trustees are not only responsible for providing an income for pensioners, but also for managing schemes and investments that are part of a pension scheme. While it is the trustee's duty to ensure that pensions and other schemes are properly funded, they are also expected to perform a number of other duties. This includes dealing with any complaints or questions that have come up and ensuring that pension funds are handled in an efficient manner.

All pension plan trustees need to keep records of their decisions and proceedings. These records are known as trust deeds. These deeds allow other interested parties such as pension scheme members and beneficiaries to access the information contained within. It also enables them to determine how pension funds are being used and if any unlawful transactions are taking place.
Retired Life And The State Pension.
If you are considering the pros and cons of using a Pension Trustee, you need to know what to expect from your PEO. First, some things are mandatory, including annual reports and financial statements. Other things that a PEO will do for you include making sure they understand any complicated issues or investment situations, as well as providing advice on such matters. But it's important to remember that your PEO is working for you, so there should be an open and honest line of communication. Here's what's new in trusted pensions's pension trustee Brighton of a past event that illustrates how a PEO can help you communicate with your customers:
Who is the trustee or custodian of a 401k?
“Trustee” is to a 401k plan as “custodian” is to an IRA. The trustee is the party who decides where, how, and when trust funds assets are spent and invested. With a Solo 401k in particular—you are allowed to be your own trustee.
A pension scheme's investment objective is to provide cover to the long-term benefits of the plan. That means the objective should be managed with long-term care in mind. The purpose of the trustee is to provide cover and maintain a safe investment for the scheme's long-term assets. But if the objective of the trust deed is to simply allow for the easy access to the investing money by the sponsoring employer, then it is not really providing cover or investment security.
Tories Prepare Tax Raid On Your Work Pension.
- December 2021. Several pension plan trustees sued by scheme participants. A former pension plan trustee pleads guilty to securities fraud charges and agreed to cooperate with the government in an investigation of other former trustees. The government found that pension funds had been illegally diverted to other accounts.
Tumblr media
- May 2021. An Illinois pension trustee was sentenced to two years probation after pleading guilty to charges of securities fraud. She was the trustee for the Chicago Stock Exchange's options arm. Her sentence came after she was found guilty of negligence involving the sale of stock worth billions of dollars. She had allowed members of the investment scheme to sell options without appropriately monitoring the option's performance.
A pension scheme can only be operated by the employing company. Therefore, the trustee does not represent the employees but acts as a legal advisor to the employer. He or she provides information on the assets and liabilities of the company and acts as an adviser to the employees, their employers and the sponsor employer. He or she prepares reports which outline the accounts and future plans of the scheme and assists in the provision of shares to the beneficiaries.

The second role of a trustee is to act in the interests of the scheme participants. This means that they must take the long-term interests of the scheme's members into account when making decisions. Trustees must act in an objective manner and take into consideration the contributions of each individual worker. It is important that the decision maker is aware of the potential costs and the possible outcomes before making a decision. The major decisions that need to be made to involve the determination of the retirement ages for the employees and the distribution of the assets. When deciding upon identify , the trustee must take into account what would happen if the employee retires without having received access to a pension.
All Pensions Suggestions By Subject Tag.
A pension scheme member can be a non-employee or an employee. Both can become a pension trustee, depending on their choice of contract. For example, the employer can appoint the entire board of the plan, or only certain members of it. If the employer is also the sole member of the pension scheme, then the pension trustee may only deal with those employers who are part of the scheme. If the employer is a limited company, then the individual employees will make the appointments for themselves. In this case both the employer and the employees would make the appointments.
There are two main roles that a pension trustee plays in any pension scheme. The first role is to protect the interests of the employers and therefore their own interests. This means they need to act in an unbiased manner and have no personal interest in the outcome of any decision. They are not allowed to favor one employer over another, and they are not allowed to favour one type of employee over another. They must act in the best interest of all employers.
There are two types of schemes to consider when appointing trustees. These are fully protected schemes and simplified schemes. In the former, there is no guarantee that the future incomes of the employees will continue as they would if they had been paid in a lump sum. This could mean that the guaranteed retirement incomes are not sufficient to cover the costs of the pension at the time of retirement. In the simplified form, the income of the employee continues while the benefits of the scheme are provided to his or her beneficiaries.
You usually obtain tax alleviation on every settlement you make, but there are limits to just how much you can take into a pension each tax year.
Whether you are currently delighting in retired life, plan to retire soon, still have some method to go or are merely looking at various investment choices an economic adviser can aid you.
There are different sorts of personal pension plans available from a number of service providers as well as some are rather straightforward - you make the repayments and have control over where to invest the settlements.
The age and also the quantity you obtain relies on when you were born as well as the amount of National Insurance policy contributions you have actually paid.
