Truth or Myth
As part of the deal to allow these enormous third largest mammals enjoy the waters as much as they want, Hippos open their mouth as wide as possible above the water often to show God that they haven't eaten any fish. Then they get out of the water to dispose their dung on the land so that God can see that there are no fish bones in their waste

In Uganda you can visit Lake Mburo National Park, one of the only places you can take a walking safari. You can travel paths and through the bush to discover animals in their habitat. It is allowed because there are no large cats at this park, but there are still plenty of dangerous and territorial animals, such as water buffalo. You are required an armed escort the entire time. #uganda #ugandasafari #safari #safariphotography #africa #lakemburonationalpark #travel #travelphotography #armedescort #traveler #travelmore #explore #exploremore #pathlesstraveled #walk #liveoutdoors https://www.instagram.com/p/ColC5aESvci/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

About looking. There is something ephemeral about looking into a chimpanzees eyes. Such a close relative and yet so distant. In Uganda the conflict between chimpanzee and human has been increasing over the last years. Reason for this is human encroachment into chimp territory. This means that sometimes these animals attack humans because they feel threatened and indeed they are. Humans in turn then get traumatised and afraid which makes them despise their close relatives. It is hence important to sensitise people through education and decrease the conflict through management of human and chimpanzee behaviour. Tourism plays a major role in reaching these goals. If you want to learn more about chimpanzee tracking in Uganda send us a DM or email us via [email protected] 📷 Rixie, Adobe Stock #uganda🇺🇬 #kibale #kibalenationalpark #kibaleforest #chimpanzee #chimpanzees #conservation #chimpconservation #primate #primates #primatesofinstagram #ape #apes #wildlifeuganda #ugandasafari #ugandawildlife #uwa #ugandatourism #kalinzu #traveluganda https://www.instagram.com/p/Ch36Em-MNRM/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Exciting Walking Safaris In Uganda
Walking safaris in Uganda are so exciting, bringing you closer to nature. It is an authentic and extraordinary experience allowing guests to discover a plethora of plant life as well as unique ecosystems. From the guided community walks with tribe leaders that bring to light an entirely different way of life, wilderness walks that you can’t experience from the comfort of safari vehicles to jungle walks that introduce travellers to the unique creatures of the forest primates, birds and others.
The walking safaris in Uganda make it possible to explore a whole new level of detail that has never been seen before from small reptiles and insects, butterfly species, and exceptional tree species to learning how Rangers track animals out in the wilderness or jungle. These are the best places to enjoy exciting walking safaris in Uganda;
Tumblr media
Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
To primate lovers, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park doesn’t need an introduction as it is the haven to the country’s highest mountain gorilla families, with over 20 habituated families living on the heavily-forested mountain slopes. The numerous habituated gorilla families mean travellers are provided with a wide range of opportunities to choose where to belong, based on levels of physical fitness, size of your group, personal preference and age. Just keep in mind that these Giant Apes live at different distances from the base and treks range between 30 minutes and six hours or more. By taking part in these walking safaris, you get to spend one-hour watching and photographing these outstanding creatures in their natural habitats but also support important conservation works towards these Giant Apes.
Kidepo Valley National Park
The remote Kidepo Valley National Park is another amazing destination for exciting walking safaris in Uganda and is known for its real and raw “African wilderness experience” Guided bush walks here are special because they are sometimes led by local Karamojong warriors who are more than willing to share their knowledge and experience of their unchanged culture and traditions. Within the Park are wilderness walks that introduce visitors to the unique ecosystems, and rare animals (that sometimes include cheetahs, Ostriches and others). Expect to see Roan antelopes, African bush elephants, Defassa waterbucks and Buffaloes among others.
Kibale Forest National Park
The verdant Kibale Forest National Park is popular for unforgettable chimpanzee trekking tours as the rainforest teems with lots of primate species that include the grey-cheeked mangabey, red-tailed monkeys, and Olive baboons, blue monkeys, Black and white Colobus monkeys, Patas monkeys and Pottos among others. A guided walk through this forest is very interactive as the monkeys tend to be inquisitive yet their raw nature makes them hide from travellers. Just 20-minutes’ drive from Kibale Forest National Park is the Bigodi wetland Sanctuary, famous for the swamp walk where over 8 primate species, as well as 200 bird species, are found.
Murchison falls National Park
Another fantastic place to enjoy exciting walking safaris in Uganda is at Murchison falls National Park in the north-western part of the country. This Park is the largest and oldest in the country and offers over 80 mammal species and 500 bird species in addition to outstanding landscapes. Walks are usually done through Budongo forest, around Safari Lodges/Camps and woodlands as well as savannah plains where tracks/sights of lions, elephants, Uganda Kobs, buffaloes and others are found.
Queen Elizabeth National Park
Queen Elizabeth National Park is the second-largest National Park and is known for its unmatched natural landscapes-Crater Lakes, water bodies (like Kazinga Channel, Lakes Edward, Kikorongo, Katwe and George among others), the Kyambura forest and so much more. Bush walks are done around the Lodges/Camps or through the savannah flats dotted with Euphoria trees are more thrilling and provide chances of seeing Kobs, bushbucks, Defassa waterbucks and others. Guided walks are also undertaken through the Kyambura gorge where communities of chimpanzees are spotted in their natural habitats.
Other places to enjoy exciting walking safaris in Uganda are Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, Lake Mburo National Park, Rwenzori Mountains National Park, Semuliki National Park, Mount Elgon National Park and many others.
