grand slams are the most prestigious tennis tournaments (award the most points, most watched etc). winning a slam is a huge career accomplishment

The Aus Open (which just ended) and US Open are played on hard courts, which are basically what you first think of re: tennis court:

They’re both quite standard, the main difference is the location

Then you have the French Open or RG, which is played on clay:

When you’re playing on clay, you can slide around a lot, which looks very cool. Here you can see current world no1 and clay court queen Iga Swiatek sliding on clay:

You also get clay everywhere on yourself with this surface, and it’s really physically demanding to play on

And lastly Wimbledon. Grass courts:

The ball travels the fastest on grass, and the crowd is really posh, usually. It’s held in London and a ton of celebrities attend 🤷‍♀️ (This year Seb, Charles and Pierre were there). This and the other most important bit in the fic writing realm is that there’s an all white dress code, from cap to shoes to bag.

So! a tldr

AUS Open: Held in Melbourne. Crowd is cool, event is quite informal. Hard court which favours an aggressive style of play

RG: Held in Paris. Clay courts! You need to be able to move well and you’ll be really grimey at the end

Wimbledon: Held in London. Somewhat a formal event. All white attire is a must, and the courts are grass. You need to get to the ball fast.

US Open: Held in NYC. Rowdiest crowd, with hard courts like the AO.

listen idk how to tell you this, and please do not take the tone of this ask to be aggressive, but you have got to start questioning yourself a little more. why are all your least favorite characters the most visibly mentally ill? why are you comfortable saying a character will need several years of therapy before they are able to have friendships? i know youre going to reply to this saying like, oh, i hc other characters as mentally ill, or oh, i'm mentally ill myself - i can't possibly be ableist! and then all your followers will be like yeah ur fine we love you, but im begging you. its okay to dislike characters, but its such an obvious pattern that the ones who have visible, uncomfortable mental health problems that make them unpleasant are, mysteriously, the ones you have the least sympathy for. i do not care whether you consider yourself ableist, whether you headcanon more pleasant characters as mentally ill, whether youre mentally ill yourself - you are posting ableist things. someone doesnt need to be cured or fixed before they should be allowed to have meaningful relationships

Okay, I've read this message over a few times and have it under consideration (? I think that's the phrase).

I do think you got some information wrong, I could be mistaken but after looking through my own posts I think you might've misread something. What I *have* said (before I watched the OVA) is that I dont think Hajime and Nagito should specifically date *each other* until they get therapy / work through their problems (although I do think that, thematically, they make sense as eventual love interests). Again, hadn't watched the OVA, so I was basing it on their interactions in game only, the OVA sort of changes directions from how the game left off.

Never said anything about anyone not having meaningful relationships until they get therapy, and have actually said that a good social net (meaningful relationships, friendly or romantic) are integral to healing from traumatic events. Not saying I haven't given off a bad impression maybe or implied something, if so do tell me because it was probably not intentional and might've slipped by me, but I'm speaking from a factual search of my blog. Not something I have ever said, as far as I can see, and not something I believe anyhow.

I actually mention pretty frequently that I think Nagito (I assume this is mostly about him) is an interesting character that I like, but find complex. My least favourite characters are Hiyoko, Mahiru and Teru (sorry fans of those! I dont mean anything by it it's literally just the vibes) that's why I don't really draw them. The OVA endeared Nagito to me, which is why I've been drawing him on a friendship journey lately, so if you're assuming I don't like him that's more incorrect now than ever.

By all means if you wanna talk about this more openly in chat, I'm down (though my timezone tends to clash). I feel you've put some words in my mouth.

I had a big underpainting of a goat just sitting around for a while. And then my friend invited me to snag a bunch of her craft supplies since she's moving, and I ended up finding some fingerpaints. So obviously I HAD to use them are you kidding? Anyways, here's the final piece (hand for scale), a result of around four uninterrupted hours just smearing paint on a canvas with my hands like a baby. Highly recommend.

content warning: self harm. no explicit descriptions or anything, but definite discussion of the habit

byan has self harm scars. they're a bit difficult to differentiate from the myriad of other scars scattered across the skin of their arms and legs from things like knife fights, but you can pick them out if you know what you're looking for.

self harming is a coping mechanism they picked up in their preteen years, a time where they were struggling a great deal with a lack of stability in their life, a difficult time in school, less than stellar foster homes (which occasionally ended with them in the street), bullying, and all assortment of challenges in figuring out and expressing their gender identity. they were miserable - depressed, angry, and deep in their self-worth issues. self harming was a way to release all their pent up emotions, a way to do something with them and make them less overwhelming, however briefly. there was also something about the self care that came afterward in treating the injuries that they found... not comforting, exactly, but maybe soothing, in a way.

eventually, as they got older and began to turn their anger more outward than inward, byan would start taking their emotions out on others and slowly dropped the habit for the most part. every now and then the urge to self harm resurfaces, but 99% of the time they'll use that urge to go out to get into fights and inflict harm on others rather than themself. in a way, their habit of picking fights is still a method of self harm - there's more to their penchant for fighting than that, of course, but it fills that same void and still results in the process of taking care of themself afterward.
