A/N: lol this hits too close to home, growing up i was shadowed by heather sister :(  I was going to turn this into smut but im not sure.. cos i never wrote a smut before lol.

“Focus on your work Weasley” Snape smacked George Weasley’s head with the book he was holding, causing the whole class to look at his direction.

George was already an easily distracted person to begin with. but today especially, he got his mind somewhere else.

He was looking at you and his twin brother Fred, giggling while trying to figure out snape’s task. All of his life he never thought that he would feel this much jealously towards the older twin. Sure, sometimes it bothers him a bit that people pay more attention to him, or the fact that people always refers them as “Fred & George”, not “George & Fred”. But he knew it’s a silly thing to be bothered about so he always managed to brush it off.

But not today, Fred had been assigned with you. The girl George met on his last solo trip to honeydukes. It shocked him how he never saw you around before, despite being in the same house and grade. But hes glad that he met you. George didn’t like to be cheesy, but he was so sure that you were made for him. Whenever youre around, he just felt so happy. You’re funny, kind, and on top of all you’re prettiest thing he ever seen. Sadly, for him, other people seems to think that way about you.

He introduced you 2 weeks ago to his brother and friends. You seem to get along great with everyone. He liked that, his brother and friends is everything for him. But he cant help it but feeling a little bit jealous. He didn’t wanna admit it but this jealously is most probably because he was insecure about his feeling for you. Before everything he was sure that you fancy him the same way he fancies you. But now, hes not sure. And he hated it, youre supposed to be his girl.

The class that felt so long was finally over. George quickly stood up, walking towards the common room. he just want to burry his face onto his bed now. He felt an arm linking his. “Hey you” it was you. He let out a big sigh, not knowing how to feel right now.

“Hey, did you have a good time today?” He hated how catty he sounded. Knowing you, he knew you wouldn’t able to tell.

“Yeah it was fun. Your brother is hilarious you know that?” He rolled his eyes, feeling his face getting hot.

“Well yeah hes a clown” George answered shortly. Wanting you both could just drop this conversation. He didn’t like this, being jealous of his twin brother.

“ahah yeah true, youre also funny too you know” You leaned your head onto Georges arm. At this point it was hard for him to not just pulls you into a big hug. “Whats your plan for the rest of the day?” You asked looking up on him.

“Im not sure, probably just sleep” George answered looking down to you. You looked so cute leaning on to him.

“Wanna have a study date? Snape’s test tomorrow right?” George’s ears perked up at the word date.

A smile creeps on his face. “Yeah sure”

“Brilliant! I’ll see you in 2 hours then!” You gave his arm a squeeze before you go. Leaving George all smiley by himself.

2 hours later, George found himself getting ready for his study date. He finally going to make a move on you. Its obvious that you fancy him now right? At least you were the one who refers their study session as a study date.

He tried to look around for Fred but he was nowhere to be found. He feels weird do anything without asking for the older brother’s advice. But it was time to go to meet you at the Library and he didn’t want to make you wait, so he just decided to cross his fingers and hope for the best.

“Hey” George greeted you, big smile on his face. You look up at him from the book you were reading, smiling back at him. “You got a lot of stuff here” He sat down beside you, looking at paper and pens in front of him.

“Oh its not mine” You answered. “So, do you have anything you’re particularly struggling with?”

Whilst you tried your best to explain the things that he was struggling with. George was doing his best to stay focus on what youre saying instead of you. He cant help but admire your face, your cheeks, your lips. He wonders how would it feel like you press his lips against yours.

“Are you listening to me George?” You asked, knowing the answer pretty well.

“Uh yeah, im sorry I got distracted” he blinked.

You brought your hand on to his head, messing with his red hair. “you’ve been a bit distracted these days. didn’t you got smacked on your head earlier today by Snape?” you chuckled a bit running your fingers on the back of his head. “Did it hurt?” You tilted her head closer to him, rubbing the back of his head.

He couldn’t seem to think straight at this point. The fact that youre so close to him right now, he could smell your scent. He took a deep breath trying to be brave and make a move. He put his hand on top of yours, pulling it away from his head. “Y/N..” He started, linking his fingers with yours. “I think I like you”

“Yeah?” You chuckled feeling. your cheeks starting to get warm. “Whats going on George? Why are you suddenly so serious?”

“Well, Im not sure how you feel about me. But I got nothing to lose so here I am. I like you” Surprised by his words, you didn’t say anything. So he thought he could just make a move then. He leaned in closer to you getting you lips closer to each other. Not knowing what to do you just close your eyes. He smiled, taking this as a greenlight to proceed his act. Until all of the sudden-

“Your tea is here!!” Fred walked in, causing them to pull away from each other. “Hey that’s my seat George, do you not see the stuffs on the table?” He said as he sat down filling the gap between You and George.

“Fred what are you doing here?” George asked, clearly  frustrated with the situation.

“That’s not how you greet people, my dear brother” He said handing you the tea he was talking about. “Besides, youre not the only one who got invited to this study group. Right Y/N?” You just nod at him feeling flustered, thinking about what could’ve happened if Fred didn’t just walk in.

The next day, George has been avoiding you since last night. He thought you guys shared the same feeling. But yesterday proved him wrong. He was just another friend to you

Snape’s exam was a group work, being Fred’s partner obviously made you work with him for the exam. You looked so happy, George wishes it was him working with you instead of his twin brother. He hated this so much, it’s ridiculous how jealous he felt towards his twin brother right now.

The exam’s finally over, George saw you coming up to him from the corner of his eyes. “Hey” you greeted him. “Wanna go to Three Broomstick later? I haven’t really seen you all week”

“Who’s coming?” He asked, hoping this time its just the two of you. And everything that he thought about last night wasn’t true.

“Uh everyone. Fred, Lee, Angelina and others im not sure” George snickered. How stupid of him to think that you wanna be alone with him. How stupid of him to think he got a chance with you.

“I think im gonna pass on that” he took a deep breath. “Im tired. Ill see you around” He left you dumb folded, walking away towards his room.

The night comes around. The common room feels empty, his friends had left him for Three Broomstick. George just chilling alone on his bed when he heard someone opened the door.

“George?” You walked towards him, sitting at the end of his bed “Hey, im just.. I just wanna make sure everything is okay”

“Why you here” George answered bitterly. “Arent you suppose to be out with your friends, with my brother?”

“Well yeah but I wanna check up on you. And talk about last night..”

“What do you wanna talk about Y/N?” He took a deep breath. “I already get it, you see me as a friend. If anything, you like Fred more than me. I get it don’t worry. Everyone always picks him over me, im used to it”

“George…” you scotched in closer too him, trying to stop him from rambling all these nonsenses.

“Im not even sure why I thought you like me, he is the better twin. Im just me. I just thought I have a chance with you. Throughout my life, ive always get hands down from my siblings, share with my siblings.” He realised how ridiculous he sounded but it didn’t stop him. “I love how you get along with my friends. But, i just thought, I thought youre my person. Finally someone I can proudly say mine. I thought you feel the same way as I do…” Georges voice was getting quitter when he felt your hand grabbing his. “I like you a lot and I get that you don’t feel the same way. So if youre coming here to explain that i-“

His words were cut off by your lips crashing to his. “You never let me speak Georgie”  You murmured against his lips “I don’t know how you got it all wrong” you kissed his cheek lightly. “I didn’t know you felt that way. George. I like you, im your person. Ive always been“

With a big smile he pulled in for another kiss. He held on to your waist pulling you closer to him, positioning you onto his lap. You threw your and around his neck, deepening the kiss whilst his hands lazily griped your waist.

You can feel something poking between the inner part of your legs. With a slight smile you press your legs more on to him, grinding it against him. Earning a low groan from him.

He held your hips down on him, so both of you can feel more of the friction. His lips travelled to your jaw and to the back of your neck. You could feel his hot breath, sending shivers down your spine as he moved his lips closer to your ears. “Prove it” OKAY SO Let me know if you want a part 2 smut off of this HAHAH.

Thoughts on 2gether ep12

I knew last episode was a false sense of security and now there’s

(I love this gif so much, it works for all kinds of things that cause pain)

but seriously though, I am here for the drama like I loved how soft and fluffy it was so far but now gimme a little bit of angst for the climax please and thank you; but dont forget that happy ending ok? OK?????

I said last week and I’ll say it again, I really do love that Tine and Wat’s problems are coming from their own character flaws and issues and like yes, there’s Pam but she’s not... really the core of it you know? Like obviously the real problems here are Tine’s insecurities and overhinking and Sarawat’s not being very forthcoming with things he thinks will embarrass him in front of Tine which is kind of fascinating to me cause we saw the same thing last ep when Wat didnt want to admit the clip was for Tine at first because he was embarrassed/shy and now with the song I’m guessing it’s the same thing and/or it’s not ready yet and Wat doesnt want to tell Tine until he’s got it perfected

but it’s the combination of those two flaws of their that’s driving the drama right now - Pam being just the catalyst - and it’s all going to backfire spectacularly on Wat next episode

.... and I am here for it, this is character drama I can get behind

speaking of Pam, I wonder if that’s not another misunderstanding there when she said I love you? as in I love you romantically or I love you as a dear friend? And she also says she wants to go back to how things were before but before she wasnt dating Wat, they were just closer as friends than they are now

I hope that’s what they’re going for like she misses having Wat as a friend and wants to get their friendship back and not that she’s in love with him

I think it would work better thematically with Tine being insecure and seeing things through that lense rather than what they are in reality

but omg, my man Mil really pull through! I’m so happy he’s finally moving on from his feelings for Tine and by giving back the bracelet he’s basically telling Wat to not waste the chance he has to be with Tine now by not being careful

I read a comment after last episode that I really really liked saying that Mil doesnt really seem interested in Tine anymore but what he was doing in ep11 was mostly just to get on Wat’s nerves and trying to be friends with Tine at the very least (trying to explain himself about the attack because he didnt want Tine to be scared of him/to think he was that kind of a person) and I think this scene absolutely proves that and I love it

also the fact that he remembered that today was Phukong’s exam and sent him an encouraging message 💖💖💖

I love how Tine and Wat are walking with their hands around each other

and now we’re taking a shower together O_o

I’m not complaining

you know, I’m not getting any deeper into the kissing/sex debate because like I said last week, yes I agree that it makes sense for them to be touching more as in the show has set it up that they want to do it but this episode absolutely semented for me that the implications are there that they do do it off screen but we’re not gonna see that and usually I would be upset about it because 1) I am horny bird with a dirty dirty brain, 2) I loooooooove touchy-feely couples in general and 3) it makes sense for your couple to be physically intimate from a pure writing POV unless you’ve set up some reason for them not to be which is clearly not the case here

but... I dont know, with these two it just doesnt bother me as much as it normally would; I dont know why, maybe it’s that I adore how well developed their emotional intimacy is (and like you cant find THAT in most couples in TV either so that’s already a big plus) and that they’re clearly comfortable touching/being near each other/getting in each other’s space like a couple WOULD do, it’s the heavier stuff that is left off screen and that’s a writing choice they apparently decided to go with and well, it is what it is

the only complaint I have is that they really should have had a few more kisses, like not on FTTT’s level of making out like your life depends on it but at least little pecks here and there, I think that would have been perfect

ANYWAY, so those are my finale thoughts on that matter, MOVING ON phew

Tine’s so gone he’s smiling at a picture of Wat while being in the same room as him which is frankly #mood

Tine’s just like I do not vibe with this so I’m removing myself from the situation the moment Pam opened her mouth and he just TURNED THE FUCK AROUND AND WALKED AWAY

I thought Sarawat was the one to look out for when it comes to jealousy but Mr I’m gonna punish you all night long here is actually the real deal

Type and Man are EXACTLY that cat/dog meme and I’m living for it, this entire scene is just so funny and Type’s little “open it” at the end is just 🤣

I like how they’re building up Tine’s insecurities over Pam little by little by having Tine find similarities between them and then with the talk about first loves and letting us see how he comes to the conclusions he does so it makes sense how it all happens

holy shit I did not expect Man/Type to break my heart too but HERE WE ARE

that dinner scene was so hard to get through especially because what Man is going through realising he’s got nothing much to offer Type at the moment, financially speaking and that he’s still a first year and he’s got  a lot of things left to do for his own future and life and just... that hits hard

unpopular opinion but I actually like that Type left with the asshole boss because 1) that’s gonna make him realise that he does miss Man when he stops coming to him next ep and 2) like from Type’s POV it makes sense? he barely knows this kid that’s been chasing him non-spot and annoying him and yeah, sure he’s helpful and seems genuine in his feelings and Type clearly is starting to melt a little but but he also wants to not lose his job and offend his boss (he might be a total jackass but he’s still Type’s boss) so he’s got no choice but to prevent the situation from escalating

also I like to think that maybe part of why he decided to leave  was cause he was trying to protect Man by not letting him get in a fight with the guy

also did I say how much I am here for the drama next week when Man really does stop looking for him and Type realises oh shit I did NOT want that and yells at Man for disappearing on him after making him feel these things

which is basically like how Tine decided to go about confessing his feelings  not like a normal Braincell-filled person but accusing Wat of not taking responsibility for making Tine fantasize about kissing him and OMG these two really are brothers, arent they?

I really was hoping Wat would say Tine was his first love but THEN he proceeded to snatch my wig with saying that what he felt for Pam was nothing like what he felt for Tine that day at the concert and being so ridiculously OFFENDED when Tine said he and Pam were alike he was like wHAt?? you are like her??? PLEASE YOU ARE THE WEIRDEST PERSON I’VE EVER MET AND I LOVE YOU PLS NEVER LEAVE ME

AND THEN TINE BREAKS DOWN COMPLETELY AT THE END THINKING HE’S LOST WAT LIKE FULL ON SOBBING AND HITTING THE WALL AND SHAKING HIS HEAD IN DENIAL AND I AM NOT OK

A/N: @obxmermaid​ here is day 3. we find that its tutoring time again, Draco and YN have been spending time together during tutoring and little rendevous’ in the shared quidditch tent, but when the mistletoe grows it sparks joy.

today was the day, you were finally gonna say the L word without the silencer. you and Draco had discussed it for a while now and realized that neither of you cared what happened as long as you both got to be together in the end. 

one day during potions you were sitting paying attention to Snape as he was teaching how to make veritaserum, while Draco a table away from you was staring at you. 

Snape: Mr. Malfoy how long does it take for Veritaserum to mature?

 draco snapped back to look at Snape... 

Draco: a week 

Snape: wrong. lets try another question, what does veritaserum do?

Draco: make the drinker vomit?

Snape: perhaps you would like to be my guinea pig my malfoy and test this brew...

before Snape could finish this sentance, the bell chimed class was over...

Snape: the exam will contain a potion presentation. each of you will have to make a potion of your choosing while i watch... so each of you have to present me with your potion that you picked so i can make sure i have enough of each ingrediant needed for each potion. remember there are a variety of potions out there so i dont want to see repeat potions. Now leave me to grade your pathetic papers.

You grabbed your books and walked towards the door but was stopped when you heard Snape say your name. You went back towards him and Draco.

Yn: yes professor.

Snape: miss YN, can you give Mr Malfoy a recap in your tutoring session of today's lesson obviously he wasn't paying attention.

Yn: I'll make note of that and we will review that professor. Speaking of potions, I'll brew veritaserum for you for my exam professor.

Snape: you sure your up for that Miss YN. its a rather complex potion.

you nod your head.

YN: ive been practicing my potion brewing as part of my prep for the exams. i got this sir.

snape: very well as the first student to approach me with their potion request you have the honor of brewing me this potion. it will be a good accomplishment if you wish to follow my footsteps and become a potions master.

YN: thank you professor, i look forward to brewing this for you. Draco ill see you after supper for tutoring. 

Draco nodded not trusting his own voice as he too left the classroom moving onto where he would see you next. charms led by flitwick, your rivalry with Draco was legend in that class but also was the knowledge among the teachers that you were tutoring Draco. 

Flitwick: take your seats children, today we are gonna be conjouring non verbal spells, our minds can do wonders and our magic helps bring what we want into the light. 

YN: professor what if what we want is something we arent sure we can ever have. like a normal life for example. how would that be depicted. 

Flitwick: it would show itself in the form of 1 flash of what you want from that normal life. miss YN why dont you come up here and show us how its done. 

you nod walking from your seat to stand before the class. you concentrate your minds energy into something not involving you and Draco. you didnt want to get in trouble. 

so you conjored a different dream of yours, one where you were standing in hogwarts as a professor, teaching the students all that you knew. 

flitwick: well done miss YN, i hope one day that dream becomes a reality for you.

you were one of the few people in most of your classes that could comprehend the lessons the professors were trying to teach. your issue was that with everything you knew, there was no loopholes yet pertaining to the forbidden relationship between you and Draco. 

YN: thank you professor. please dont hesitate to ask me for demos anytime. 

flitwick smiled and nodded as Draco was waved at to come forth next. this made you curious about how it made you happy being with Draco in secret. making sure your cousin is not aware of what kind of happiness has befallen you. 

hermione sitting next to you though, felt your current emotion being your cousin makes you shiver.

Hermione: we need to talk cuz. Your giving off huge amounts of lovey dovey energy. Who are you crushing on?

Yn: no one I'm just thinking bout the pretext of my next short story.

Hermione: I can't wait to read it, you sure thats the only thing wrong

Yn: yes that's what it is. I can't wait for class to be over. I have so much to prep before tutoring tonight. I've got 2 temp clients before the only consistent client tonight... 

hermione scoffed as she thought about how you tutor draco every single day.

Hermione: ugh Draco, i dont know how you put up with having to tutor him. i mean he is your greatest rival. 

you had one thing in mind for you to speak but another thing came out instead. 

YN: that rivalry is just for appearances we are actually getting along some what in our sessions. 

Hermione: this is the same guy who has teased me for years... and now you tell me that your rivalry with him is just for appearances. is there anything else you would like to tell me?

YN: i saved his life over the summer. 

you started walking back to your shared dorm. your cousin quickly in pursuit clearly wanting to hear the rest of that story. she cornered you in your dorm, the same spot where she knew you couldnt hide anything. 

hermione: im sorry you saved his life... how?

YN: those last 2 weeks before school when you went to meet ron and harry... dont worry it wasnt anything major i just kinda hid him from his parents. he needed to escape, i helped him do so. its all good. nothing to worry about. 

That's all that needed to be said, your cousin let you go knowing you had a busy schedule. Your last stop for tutoring was the astronomy tower, you were approaching and you could see lights on inside.

You were unsure of who else could be inside, Draco was rarely on time. you approach the door and it opens on its own, you are greeted with a warm candle light glow and the sight of your boyfriend standing in the center of the room.

Draco: right on time. i decided to surprise you for once. 

YN: well you succeeded. 

you said after you shut the door and approached him with a huge smile on your face. his arms now overlapping with your own arms as your hands sit on his waist.

Draco: i have one more surprise for you...

YN: whats that?

Draco: look up love.

you were following draco’s gaze as he slowly looked up. both of you now staring at Mistletoe. it was hanging from the ceiling. for a moment you let your guard drop... it was a happy moment, this was happy for you and for Draco.

 before another word was said you found one cheek cupped in one of your boyfriends hands as his gaze held your own. Draco spoke again before either of you would realize that something ever would be wrong. 

Draco: i love you YN... now and always i am gonna love you no matter what happens. 

thats when he kissed you under the mistletoe. your heart fluttered like a little school girl. you were the one thing that Draco knew he could not live without.

Chinese Class (One-shot)

Pairing: Tao x Reader

Genre: Fluff; College!AU

Description: You need a tutor for Chinese, and through your roommate’s boyfriend’s friend you find him. One shitty study session, some mistakenly sent texts, and a retry later, you find that he’s isn’t as horrible a teacher as you thought.

A/N: If my Chinese is shit, let me know. I used translate for part of it bc it’s been a month since I even looked at anything related to my Chinese class, and unlike the character in this all of my Chinese is shitty. Not just my speaking. (Translations at bottom)

“Okay good, but your pronunciation is wrong. It’s fourth tone not second.”

“I’m saying it in fourth!”

“No you aren’t. You have to say it like you’re angry. You just sound…slightly displeased. Say ‘to buy’.”

“Mǎi.”

“Now say ‘to sell’.”

“Mai.”

“No, see that’s where you’re fucking up. Your third tone is fine, it’s just…your fourth. Say it like you’re pissed. Mài!”

“Mai!”

“Wow you really are terrible at tones.” You let your head bump against the top of the table you and Tao are camped out at in your University’s study hall. You were in desperate search of a tutor for Chinese, and happened to remember that your roommate’s boyfriend’s friend happened to be from the exact place where this difficult ass language is spoken. You have an oral exam in a week, and unable to practice with any of your friends (who are totally lame and didn’t want to take Chinese with you) you reached out to him.

Through your roommate’s boyfriend of course.

As good as his Chinese is, he sucks as a teacher. And to top it off he was expecting lessons from you in return. You expected him to ask for something in exchange for helping you, but never in your life did you think he wanted to learn English slang.

His foot nudges you under the table. “Hey, now tell me what this word is. What does this mean? Arthur Mee Mee.” you hold your head up to give him a bored stare. He holds his phone in front of you and you see an Arthur meme on his screen.

“It’s meme. Not mee mee. Like…me-muh. You don’t say the second m-e the way you say the first,” you explain monotonously. He pulls his phone back and looks at it like you’ve just explained quantum physics or the meaning of life or some shit. You watch him mouth the word to himself a few times and nod approvingly to himself.  

“I hate Chinese,” you grunt in dissatisfaction.

“Say that in Chinese.”

“Wǒ zhēn bù xǐhuān zhongwén.”

“You said zhōng weird.”

“Your face is weird,” you retort bitterly. He scoffs and doesn’t bother to reply. “Tao you’re supposed to be helping me, and I’m not getting any better at this.” Your plea falls on deaf ears as the guy across from you distractedly plays with his phone. Fingers flying across the screen and soft smile creeping across his face.

You’re going to have to fight him to get him to actively pay any attention to you.

“Let’s just call it a day. I haven’t gotten anything done, and yet…” you wait to see if he is going to even attempt to acknowledge the fact that you started talking. He doesn’t. You huff. “And yet I have a headache.”

Still no response. You stand up agitated and start to violently shove all of your shit in your bag. You feel disregarded and even a bit embarrassed. You nearly had to beg him for this tutoring session, and you even got…somewhat dressed up for it. You could have worn sweats and not done shit to your hair, but you did because you wanted to give a good impression…and you heard he was kind of cute so like…

But fuck that.

You’ll find a new tutor and you’ll dress comfortably and actually get some studying done.

You just need to find someone who can actually help you in Chinese…

You glance outside of the glass that separates the small study room from the larger area and try to get a gauge on what time it might be. You started studying at like 6pm…there’s no way it can be any later than 7. Whipping your phone out of your pocket to check the time and you see that yes, you were right. It’s only 6:42. 2 hours earlier than you intended on leaving today.

“Where are you going?”

“Home. Did you not just hear me 5 seconds ago?”

“You said something?” he asks genuinely. You grunt and chuck your bag over your shoulder offering a bitter but polite smile.

“Thanks for your time, but I don’t think we should continue these sessions,” you tell him evenly. A brief nod is all you can give as you scatter from the room before he can retort or even think of composing a response.

You stab at the elevator buttons trying to get it to close quickly so that you can hide in your room and study for your copious other midterms that you have to prepare for. On the bus ride to your home you send a quick frustrated message to your friend expressing the failure of a tutor you had, and the hopelessness you feel towards ever graduating and getting a stable job.

“Oh you’re home? We’re going to a dining hall do you want to come?” one of your roommates, a girl you’ve known since high school, asks you as soon as you walk through the door.

You grimace and shake your head apologetically. “Sorry, I’ve got a shit ton of homework to do before this weekend. Maybe tomorrow?”

“Don’t over stress yourself. You’ve been locked up in your room for the past 2 weeks. It’s like we haven’t seen you at all,” you other roommate adds.

You shrug noncommittally. “Sorry guys. I’ll join you next time for sure.” With mumbled goodbyes, they leave and you return to your bedroom.

Stupid Tao. Stupid Chinese Oral. Stupid fucking college.

Right before you can shed your clothes and shower your phone chimes a bunch of times in succession. It must be your best friend. When you open the messages, you’re greeted by straight Mandarin on your screen. Confused, you double check the sender.

It’s Tao.

Why the hell is he texting you, and in fucking Mandarin no less? Did he feel the need to add insult to injury by making you work to read whatever it is he has to say after you ran out of the study hall?

Huang Zi Tao:

The words glare at you and you wonder if maybe it’s because you just got back from staring at your textbook that the words refuse to register in your mind. These words…you know all these characters.

Your bag falls from your shoulder as you glare back at the messages as if it’ll intimidate them into transforming into English.

There’s no way you could misinterpret something in English.

And there’s definitely no way that Tao miss sent 5 messages (five whole god damned texts) to your phone and…said you were pretty. You might suck at speaking Mandarin, but fortunately your writing and reading ability is the best in your class.

He thinks you’re pretty. He thinks you’re pretty and was too nervous to look at you and he…thinks you hate him. You pull the phone to your chest and blink owlishly at your bathroom door. What do you do? Do you message him back? Reveal yourself?

The message sends and you don’t have the time to panic before you’re sent another message from him.

Your fingers move across the screen as heat rises to your face.

What are you doing? What are you even doing?

You type out the short response and delete the smiley face you wanted to add. You want to seem indifferent. Embarrassed, but not nearly as much as he probably is, you lock your phone and escape to the bathroom hoping a shower will work some magic on your…

What is it that you’re feeling?

Excitement?

Giddiness?

Nervousness?

Apprehension?

Whatever it is, you hope the shower will get rid of it so that you can rest up before another study day (hopefully more successful than today’s) with Tao.

Your bag feels heavier on your shoulder today as you ride the elevator up to the 3rd floor of the study hall. After last night, Tao never messaged you back, but you figure he was either too mortified to initiate any further conversation, or he’d just fallen asleep.

Either way, you were here and you planned on studying no matter whether he shows up or not.

Clear as day you find him rigidly sitting in the exact same room, in the exact same chair that you left him yesterday.

No phone in sight.

Calmly, you open the door and step in, keeping your eyes glued to the ground as you settle in the seat you occupied yesterday and pull out your study materials. You make slow work of it. Taking each book out one at a time. Picking up 2 pencils and a pen and setting them down on the table softly before rearranging the order.

Finally, you decide to look up and when you do he’s watching you closely.

His eyes widen at the abruptness of your action compared to how slow you were setting up, and if you weren’t aware of what he thinks about you, you might have mistaken the way he looked off to the side as agitation.

But you do know what he thinks. And you know that he’s embarrassed. A weird satisfaction fills you.

“So I think we should start where we left off yesterday,” you say evenly. He cringes to himself and nods shortly before looking at your face once more.

“I’m so sor-”

“Chapter 9 right?” you look down at your book and pull it open to the page you’d left off on. His words die off as you shift your stuff around once more. Silence engulfs you both as you stare down at your book and he stares worriedly at you. This is suffocating you and you can’t even be mad. Because you did this to yourself???? You’re the one drawing this out.

With a sigh, you finally look up at his…wounded (wow you feel like shit) expression.

“I’m sorry!” he blurts suddenly. You jump in your seat at the volume. He clamps a hand over his mouth and breathes out heavily. “I…I thought I was messaging Luhan.”

“It’s fine.” The words come out easily, and really, it is. You aren’t mad at him. Not one bit. In fact, reading his confession made you like him more than you thought you would. You were ready to hate him, honestly, since he spent the entire day on his phone yesterday. But, you got your explanation, and some flattery. “What’s there to apologize over?”

His mouth parts slightly in shock at your words, before he tries to compose himself. “Oh…well nothing,” he pouts and you bite back a smirk at the confusion on his face. He must think you didn’t understand what he sent you. “How much,” he clears his throat as some of his confidence begins to come back. “How much did you…understand?”

You purse your lips as you pull out your own phone. When you set it on the table he blanches once more. You point to the first message. “You were right yesterday,” you translate easily. You point to the next, “She’s really pretty.” You smirk when you point to the third and catch his eyes. “I was too nervous, I couldn’t look at her…”

He swipes your phone off the table and hides it in his pocket out of your reach. You gape at him as he looks at you as if he can’t believe he did it either.

“Hey!”

“I get it! You understood what I wrote. Jeez you’re too brutal,” he grumbles. Smiling, you lean back in your seat and cross your arms over your chest. “I thought you needed a tutor because you can’t speak Chinese,” he lifts his eyes to look at you. Embarrassment fading bit by bit.

You nod. “I can’t speak it. You heard my tones. Reading, writing, and listening though? I’m perfectly fine.” Your smile is proud as you look back at him. He closes his eyes and groans loudly.

“I’ve never been more embarrassed in my entire life,” he mumbles to himself.

Stretching a leg out, you kick him lightly. “Don’t be. I…Your messages were really…cute. They were cute and you shouldn’t feel too embarrassed about it,” you admit shyly.

He brightens and smiles widely, so you cough loudly to avoid having to say more. You look at him with a smile. “So, Chapter 9?”

“(Y/N)?”

Your hand hovers in front of the door to the coffee shop you should have been leaving 20 minutes ago (but you and your friend got distracted talking while she made your drink) when you hear your former professor’s voice at a table near the door. She looks pleasantly surprised to see you, and you’re just plain surprised to see her. Classes are over for the year and you expected all of the professors to be off campus at this point. You smile politely and walk in her direction.

“Li Laoshi, hi!”

“Sorry to be bothering you, I know you’ve got somewhere to be,” she starts. You shake your head even though you do have to be somewhere… “I just wanted to tell you how well you did in my class, and how much I enjoyed having you.”

“Oh, no thank you for having me. I loved your class.”

She smiles genuinely and you glance nervously towards the door. “That’s good. Did you have any plans on joining the Chinese program to Taiwan next spring? It counts as class credit and an internship.”

“I plan on going. I just have to work out the details with my counselor before I apply. It sounds like a lot of fun and I need the credits-” you’re interrupted when you hear your name being called once again. When did you get so popular? Tao walks up to you and winds his arm around your shoulder.

Your teacher’s eyes widen ever so slightly and you subtly try to nudge him off of you.

“Hello I’m Tao,” he introduces himself and you want to die on the spot.

You sigh and smile apologetically to your professor. “Ms. Li this is Tao. Tao…this is my Chinese professor.” He straightens and reaches out to shake her hand, but you shove the two coffees that were in your hand into his chest. “Take these. I’ll be out in a minute.”

He nods and gives your professor one last smile. “It was nice meeting you!”

She grins back and raises an eyebrow at you. “Sorry I need to go, it was nice seeing you again. I’ll see you next year,” you say hurriedly.

You scurry to door and are halfway out when she calls after you once more. “Keep studying your Chinese this summer. The best way is to get a Chinese boyfriend you know.”

Your face heats up as you look out at the bench where Tao is sipping from both his drink and then yours as he tries to figure whose he likes more. “I know,” you murmur. With a final wave you trot over and steal your half drunken cup from your boyfriend’s hands.

 Week 1 - For this years vocal ensemble we were reunited with Kevin O Carroll, our vocal ensemble teacher from first year.  We were introduced to two pieces which we would be examined on in week twelve. These pieces were ‘Maria Walks amid the Thorn’ by Thomas Morley and ‘Sanctus’. 

- Performance Workshop was a new class for all of us and we had only met Shirley our teacher one time previously for Immersion week in second year. We started our first class by doing a lot of acting and improvising exercise classes.

 - During our first week of gospel in semester two, for myself and my     classmates it was rather difficult to get back into a routine of doing group work seeing as we had spent the previous semester on our co-operative placement.

 Week 2

 - For week two of vocal ensemble we focused on perfecting the first page of sanctus. Straight away it was evident that sanctus was the harder piece of the two. I sing in the mezzo-soprano line along with six other girls. I am mentioning this because seven is the most we have ever had in our mezzo line! 

 - Following the result of last weeks exercises, shirley challenged us again by doing a lot more improvisation because that is a method of acting/singing that we as a class fall down in. 

- In week one of gospel we were asked to sit back and listen to what pieces the rest of the class had created in semester one, and to then research and learn our designated parts for this week. We were focusing on ‘Let praises rise’, a song which we were familiar with already and also ‘Better is one Day’ a song performed by the same person we had learned the first song from.

 Week 3 - In vocal ensemble our mezzo line for Sanctus was proving very difficult for myself as a solo singer, and also as a group line. The song was relatively major, however a lot of the mezzo soprano line had some sustained notes and notes that would clash with the others, making them sound wrong.

 - Shirley began asking us topics which we would like to cover for our final exam in week fifteen. Our assignment for this week was to pick five themes that do not need to be relative or have context. I thought of ideas such as ironic things that women apparently arent able to do and simple universal jokes people would be familiar with such as ‘Is this thing on?’. 

- Personally gospel requires no concentration or technique for me as I feel very comfortable in the class. All stuents pick up the melody and given harmony extremely fast. By this week we had ‘Better is one Day’ complete and it was only week three. 

 Week 4

 - We had now moved onto the third and fourth page of sanctus. It being a new song it did take us quite a while to understand and recite the melody,what I found difficult was that due to our group having a high number it was hard to listen to eachother. Kevin made a few comments about us being flat and coming in at wrong times, but due to us having such a large number in our group we could never figure out who was making the mistakes. 

- This week we provided shirley with our ideas from the week before. We were split into groups and asked to showcase a small bit of what our themes meant. Myself and three other girls decided on listing a number of famous women  in the past or present day that have made a change in the world and who are powerful. Shirley loved this idea and eventually we as a class decided our theme would be women in power. 

- Kathleen wanted to challenge us as a choir this week by taking us out of our comfort zones and making us stand next to a person who was not singing the same melody line as us. I did not find this difficult if anything I found this to make our sound as a choir more blended. 

Week 5

- Kevin decided to give us a break of sanctus this week and focused on Maria Walks Amid the Thorn. What was extremely difficult for this piece was that our line of melody was similar, but not the exact same. Each new verse had a different rhythm and the time signature also changed, this was going to take a lot of focus inside and outside of class.

-With our theme now officially being women in power, we had to now start producing and creating music/scenes/movements that would portray this theme for the end of summer final performance exam. Shirley wanted our idea of using powerful women's names so we created a scene where we would all as a group shout women of our choice who were powerful. We were also given the task of thinking of music pieces we would like to perform.

-Kathleen liked the idea of us being separated from our lines and kept that method this week. This time she also asked us to walk around and walk towards empty spaces of the room. I feel she was doing this so that we did not focus so much on the words and technical side of gospel and more on the feeling it gives us and the blend.

Week 6

-Kevin focused again on Maria Walks again this week due to the class as a whole struggling with the ever changing dynamics and rhythm in each verse. This week i made sure to research online videos on YouTube of choirs performing the piece as when I’m struggling to learn a piece that is the first thing i do.

-Shirley took a break from the work we did the week before and discussed women in the music industry today and their impact on society. We actually ended up in an argument as she didn’t agree with a popular artist and their process with regards to music whilst myself and the class thought the very opposite! It was refreshing having a debate like that as we didn’t have much lectures about popular music in the last two years.

-Now that our gospel group was one hundred percent confident with our pieces, Kathleen wanted to challenge us once again by making us have a chat to at least two people who we had never talked to before. I found this extremely scary for some reason, being forced to talk to someone new was quite different to talking to someone new on your own accord!

Week 7

-To give our minds a break from two very technical pieces, Kevin introduced us to ‘Now is the Month of Maying’ which was a piece we were familiar with as the fourth years last year had performed it. Kevin explained to us what the piece meant and why it was very important that we understood the meaning of the piece, so that we could portray the story with our singing.

-Shirley decided to spend this class doing a lot more improvising exercises because she felt the energy in the class was down. Some people were not eager or open to spending the class doing this, however I don’t mind throwing myself into anything and seeing as it was a 9:00am start I was willing to do anything to wake myself up!

-In gospel this week we were informed that we would be doing a mash-up of ‘Knew you were waiting’ by Aretha Franklin and ‘Think’ with the irish traditional students for a performance on in the redemptrist church in limerick city. Most of us were familiar with both songs so it was just a case of getting the harmonies solid.

Week 8

-By this class we were familiar with now is the month of maying. I think my class is better at singing those upbeat humorous pieces as Kevin encourages us to smile which really improves our technique! Once again our mezzo line had some tricky notes, but with some concentration and work outside of class it would catch on eventually.

-This week we had chosen a number of songs to perform and hopefully use for our final performance. We had chosen ‘Thursday’ by Jess Glynne, ‘Born this Way’ by Lady Gaga and a mash-up of ‘Independent Women’ by Destiny’s Child and ‘Fighter’ by Christina Aguilera. I offered to accompany the class with piano as I wanted to be in the background a little more than I previously had been.

-Kathleen asked us in this class if we wanted to maybe have a more relaxed class as the energy and atmosphere in the room was very different to usual classes. She turned off the lights and asked us a few questions about this semester. It was nice to let some steam off as we were getting close to exams and deadlines for assignments were coming. Week 9

-Shirley started giving roles to people, I was given a few one liners here and there. I also had the role during a scene which involved a teacher talking to students. It is a comedic scene and I had a lot of fun doing it. However, I felt as though I didn’t really have a choice whether I wanted to be the teacher or not. I don’t mean that Shirley forced me, it was more of a case as though none of the other girls put up their hands.

-After last weeks class everyone’s spirits and motivation were much more positive. We were touching on our original pieces every class, however with the performance being so close we spent this week in theatre one with the Irish traditional students practising. It is quite difficult having over 80 people in a room at a time (half of them with instruments) but we all focused and gave our attention to Kathleen.

Week 10

-Kevin had asked us to still look over the three pieces although we had no class last week. Once he came back he reminded us that we only had two weeks left. Sanctus was not in any way ready for an exam so Kevin decided that we would instead do ‘Now is the Month of Maying’ and ‘Maria Walks’ as we only needed to do two pieces for the exam. 

-Lucy had come in for this class to give some pointers to us and to also showcase what the dancers in our class had been doing and what movement pieces they were going to do for the exam. We then added our own melodic ideas to it and it became a big moving and powerful part of our performance.

Week 11

-With only one more week to go until our exam, Kevin focused on small things and technical things. We were still a small bit unsure of the words in ‘Now is the Month of Maying’ so Kevin decided that he would make very small gestures to us to remind us of what was coming next. This as you can imagine also helped with us keeping a smile for the piece!

-This week I had been asked to accompany four girls in our class who were going to be singing titanium for the performance. Whilst playing I also found myself adding lower harmonies and the girls didn’t mind that I was adding them. We left the class to practice and perfect the piece while the others learned a short poem with Shirley.

-Our last class before the exam, Kathleen wanted us to try hallelujah again and told us that she would like to use that for the exam, instead of Let Praises Rise. With that she also made us learn a new song called ‘Ain’t gonna let nobody’ which was a very interesting a moving song. It encouraged us to be confident and speak our mind and let off some of that pre-exam stress we had been having!

Jack Harlow Concert Recap

I’ve been pretty uninspired and overwhelmed the past few weeks and my constant input has definitely been affected because of it. I actually typed out a whole music review including albums by Anderson .Paak, Jaden Smith, and Lido but it unfortunately it got deleted before saving it as a draft/posting it. I tried to rewrite it but it sounded less passionate and more like I was trying to regurgitate what I had written originally- so I scraped it. 

I figured to catch me up on my weekly input I’d write a little review/recap of the last 2 concerts I attended which happen to align with the missing weeks of input. 

August, 2018: My best friend picked me up one day in August and played the song PICKYOURPHONEUP by Jack Harlow. I didn’t think much of it until it played again. And then again. I asked her “so, we’re just gonna keep listening to the same song huh?” because typically when this happens it just means she forgot to put her phone on shuffle. She remained unwavering as she said, “yeah”, in response before adding: “I love this song”. She played another song off his Loose album after that fourth play of PICKYOURPHONEUP and I immediately realized this kid was special. I got home and listened to almost nothing but his projects for the next 3 weeks. 3 weeks is a long time to listen to an artist without getting sick of their sound, at least for me. 

October 20, 2018: A couple weeks into October, Harlow posted a picture on instagram featuring his Loose Tour dates. I screenshotted it and sent it to my best friend and we spent the next 20 minutes deciding if I should go to Boston or if she should come to New York based on what days worked for us. Ultimately, we ended up getting tickets for his NY show on the 21st of November. The next month was filled with anticipation as we’d constantly share his posts with each other and talk endlessly about our personal desired set lists. I even ended up tweeting at him telling him we’d dress up as stewardesses as a reference to his lyric, “I got a crush on a stewardess, her outfit got something to do with it.” Now, my best friend and i have been to many concerts together, typically for more well established artists who have stronger fanbases so I think part of what was so thrilling about seeing him was that it meant we were catching a star before the hype. 

November 20, 2018: I had a Computer science exam at 12:30pm that I absolutely failed. I think I walked out of the room with a solid 14/100. Michelle (my best friend) had a 12 hour long period of interviews for her professional years. She hops on the 8pm bus from Boston to New York and arrives home around 2am as I fall asleep while decompressing from my headache of an exam. I know we are both still super excited for the day ahead of us despite the overwhelming days we just had.  

November 21, 2018: My alarm goes off at 9:30am. I consider hitting snooze and falling back asleep like i do every day of the week but I cant, this morning i actually have the drive to get up. I havent seen Michelle or been to a concert/show in over a month. So I get up, realize I dont know what to wear and facetime her. The next 40 minutes is spent cracking jokes about what we’re going to say to make him fall in love with us. We plan to leave our suburban town at 12:30 in hopes of being at the venue by 2pm. Doors open at 6:30pm. We’re a bit dramatic. We reach the venue and are the only ones in sight for the show, we realize its way too cold to stand outside for 4 more hours so we go to starbucks, insomnia cookies, marshalls (3 times, it was warm), and a couple other random stores before finally deciding to head back to the venue around 4:30. around 5, we see his sprinter van and a few members of his team are moving boxes of merch into the venue. We patiently wait, speaking softly while asking each other if we think he’s also in the van. Finally, after what feels like a half hour, we see a tall white boy with curly hair walk out of the van. We expect him to at the very least stop and greet us, but he walks straight into the venue, offering a weak, “sup y’all” with a hint of his Kentucky accent. We wait for the door to shut before looking at each other in shock. That was not the energy we expected out of an up and coming rapper. Its evident we’re both a bit discouraged and as we linger in the dissatisfying encounter, we see him and his best friend walking out again, not offering a single word this time. The next fans to join the line arrived around 5:30pm, they were a couple who immediately started a conversation with us despite their slightly standoffish demeanor. They tell us that they saw him live over the summer at a festival and after his set and they got the chance to speak to him. They said he was super sweet which restored some faith within us again. Maybe the Kentucky boy just really cant stand the cold and wanted to rush into the venue. 30 minutes prior to doors, Harlow and his friend come back, this time he has a girl under his arm who is not his girlfriend, the line which has accumulated has a moment of silence as they walk in. Once the clock finally hits 6:30, it begins to snow a little and the line passes comments about how annoyed we are that we arent being let in yet. His younger brother and a couple of his friends show up outside the venue and are immediately let in by his best friend. At this point, the overall experience is at a 6/10, max. Between the cold weather and energy we received from Harlow, the only redeeming things are the fact that I’m with my best friend and the company of the couple who joined us on line. 

6:42pm: the doors to the Mercury Lounge open and we scan our tickets. We make our way to the dead center of “barricade” and wait while we defrost. We weren’t anticipating enjoying the opening acts as we couldn’t find their music on any streaming site prior to the show, and granted the first act was a bit messy as he constantly began inviting his friends on stage, goofing around more than they were really performing but nonetheless the energy was exciting. The second act was truly enjoyable and I’m sure I’ll be looking out for his releases on spotify. I checked my phone for the time and realized it was almost show time. The music started for his song SUNDOWN as he shimmied on stage with his signature intro. We knew every word. Behind him, his best friend was recording the whole thing on a camcorder, mouthing along the lyrics. Despite not having much to say inbetween songs, let alone allotting time to even say anything between songs, Harlow’s performance was exactly what we thought it would be. Aside from the random “louisviller” as she called herself, who kept asking me questions about my height during his set while sprinkling in the fact that she knows Jack from Kentucky, his stage presence and connection with the crowd brought the experience up to an 8/10. He sang some of his OG songs and painted his face with a smile as he listened to the crowd sing along to even his lesser known stuff. A sense of pride clearly overtaking him- and rightfully so. Although the encounter with him earlier left a bitter taste in my mouth, hearing his lyrics about struggle and work ethic live reminded me why i admire him, and why i was so quick to become a fan. Once the show was over and he came back out for another round of SUNDOWN as the encore, we made our way to the merch table where I complained about how much I hated the design of the hoodie and refused to give in and buy a matching one with Michelle. The show ended around 9:30pm and we got back to our hometown around 11pm before taking a drive to our favorite place to eat. There we ate and discussed our experiences, comparing opinions on his performance and admitting that we were both still in love with him despite our rough first encounter. A perfect end to an eventful day.

Where did I go wrong? A few months back, I backed out of a parking place and stopped, waiting for traffic behind me to resolve itself. While stopped, a large vehicle backed into my driver side door. We both re-parked. The other driver first tried to convince me there was no damage and we should both forget it but after I showed him the damage to my door (his car had almost no damage), we exchanged insurance and personal contact information in a friendly conversation. I reported the damage to my insurance carrier, a large national firm, obtained the required 2 estimates for repair and submitted it, as directed by my carrier and his, to his carrier, a large regional carrier. They informed me he had decided my car was not stopped and so I bore responsibility for his backing his car into me (!), and they therefore were refusing to pay me. My insurance carrier said it was up to me to provide proof my car wasn't moving, regardless of the fact his car backed into mine! I approached the repair firm, and they provided me with photos and offered testimony to state that my car was obviously stopped, based on the damage to the door. I called the individual and said with this information unless he paid the bill in full, I would take him to small claims court. He argued but produced a check for the full amount. A month later, my insurance carrier raised my rate based on this incident and a highway speeding ticket over a year ago. I ended up paying more for my insurance and lost a great deal of time despite both of us being insured. Where did I go wrong?""

You then realise that everything that had happened in the relationship wasnt normal. He liked to physically abuse you. He often said something like "if you refuse to kiss me right now i will kill myself". He often got upset if you wanted to talk to your friends one day.

So you break up with him. You tell him that you have realised these things arent right. He tells you that you dont deserve to be loved and you have no hope of getting a lasting relationship. You agree.

It gets to September. At this point you start to question whether its worth going on. Something happens, and before you realise what you have done, you have gouged out part of your wrist.

You realise there is something really wrong with you, so the next day you go to the school councellor. She tells your parents and you start on therapy. You think it is a waste of time.

You can't last a month without making a new scar on yourself. It gets to november and the group merges back together. You cant join them, even seeing the people who attacked you sends you into panic.

You catch the bus home from school every day. And every day, you have a panic attack because the noise and claustrophobia is too much. Music is the only thing that can help it.

Your grades are failing. You used to be a good student, not the best but rarely getting less than a B. Now you are failing every subject.

You start grade 12. At this point you have 3 people you can count on. One is a girl you met online that you talk to every day, but she lives in america. Another is a girl you have been best friends with since grade 8. The last is a guy who for some reason still puts up with you.

Your best friend is popular. She still talks to everyone in the old group and she has ofher friends. You see her once every second day for the shorter break.

The guy is busy too. You dont see him that much.

For a while, you had a group of friends on an online forum. After a few months they realised you werent worth anything and you get banned. This happens with another forum as well.

Your mother is a very social person. You go to parties every other week with your parents. You try to tell them how uncomfortable they make you, but they refuse to listen.

One of the last things you enjoy is fishing. Sometimes, the parties your parents hold are at the beach, so you try to get as far away from the party as possible to escape in the waves. Each time, you consider just swimming out to keep going until you drown. Each time, you stop yourself because you forgot to say goodbye.

It gets to grade 12, you are 4 weeks in. Since the group joined back together, you have been sitting in an out of bounds area where no one can find you. Teachers tell you that you are lucky to not get suspended. You tell them you couldnt care less

It is the first time you ride your bike to school. It happens to be the class with an air con first so you are relieved. At 9:05 the school gets a bomb scare. You are made to sit on the field. You are messaging your dad and listening to music because you are terrified. A teacher tries to take your phone. You tell them to piss off. They make you sit in the sun away from the rest of the students. You keep messaging your dad. The teachers tell you if you dont hand over your phone they will suspend you. You tell them go ahead. At one point a teacher grabs you to try and get it.

Your parents find out about everything that happened, and they take it to the principal threatening to charge for assault. They are told that if they followed through, you would be an outcast to all teachers. Because what is the word of one mentally ill girl against professionals?

A few days later, the guy you were friends with approaches you. He tells you that he wants nothing to do with you until you fix your depression. You walk out of the school, start walking home, and suddenly get an uncontrollable urge to jump infront of a truck.

You force yourself to the ground, and message your american friend. They tell you that you are being an idiot and they would punch you if they were there.

You call your parents, who come immediately to pick you up from the side of the road. You talk to the suicide hotline about everything that has happened. You go to the hospital and repeat yourself to 3 more seporate people. You are pronounced minor risk and sent home

You dont go back to that school. You dont get accepted into a new school until 3 months later. In your time off, you start running and riding every day. You find a dog park with some nice people.

Your mental health is getting better. You go into your new school and complete all of term 1 and term 2 in the single term. You fail most of your first exams. Your teacher for your strongest subject tells you there is no way you can be an A student. Your OP prediction comes back as 17.

But you keep going. You go to the city every day to do your school work. Your grades get better. You feel better about yourself. By the end of the year, you are a straight A student. You get 2 awards. You get your OP back as 9. You get accepted into university early.

But you have to pay tuition upfront, so you defer 12 months. You start looking for a job. You print off 300 resumes. Over the next few months you use all of them. You walk in to every shop in a 11km radius of your house. You get a job at Subway.

This is your first time working, so you are slow. Your manager makes sure you know this. Every shift he tells you how much of an idiot you are. You give full availability and you are lucky to get more than 10 hours a week.

So you start looking for a job again. You get something for permanent part time, 25 hours per week. So you leave subway, and of course your boss literally begs you to stay.

After 2 weeks in your second job, which has standards higher than anywhere else you have been, you get fired for being too slow.

So you look for jobs again. You get one in a seafood place. It makes you always stink but the work is decent. Easter happens, it is so busy you get a panic attack and have to take a half when you would usually only take 15.

After easter, your boss tells you he doesnt need you anymore, and you are lucky to get one shift per week.

So you look again. An employer tells you to do a cert iii in food processing so you do. You never hear back from the employer.

You get a job at a pie shop. It is very close to home. You get 3 shifts a week, 3 hours each.

So you look again. You get a job in a cafe so you leave the pie shop.

The cafe job is good. You get 20+ hours a week and its reasonable work.

After a couple of months, you realise there is a new law coming in which makes uni fees 3x as much, so you get enrolled right away. There is a maths subject you want to get into but you have to take an entrance exam for it, which doesnt come up until nearly too late. You constantly make phone calls to the uni and they tell you that you probably arent good enough anyway. You end up acing the test.

You pay your tuition out of pocket and buy a 2300$ laptop. You are proud to get this far.

You start uni and it isnt what you expected. You love your maths and physics but your 2 engineering classes are a waste of time. You start worrying that you wasted your money.

You are either working or at uni 7 days a week most weeks. You start to feel overworked and tired.

You join a server for lgbt people, having questioned yours for a while. After a month you have a friend, a 32 year old guy who also loves fishing and your type of music. He makes you a moderator in the 5000 people server, and the owner just says "whatever you are cool". You end up contributing more than 80% of the other mods.

Your 18th birthday comes around. You go out on a boat fishing with your parents and a couple of friends, but they force you to invite their friends as well. The boat is overcrowded, cold, and the fishing is bad.

There is a girl in the server you really like, so you ask her out. She is thousands of miles away but you were sure you could make it work.

But your mental state has been declining again, and it is everything you can do to keep on top of it. You put off going back to therapy because you dont have time.

Your university studies have been getting more stressful as well, you have massive assignments to do in very little time. You are a perfectionist, and when you get a mark back of 74% you are gutted.

But you keep going. It gets closer to when your final assignments are due when your girlfriend says she is depressed because of something and has to be away for a while. You are worried for her and hate that you cant help.

Your other friend from the server hates her. Ever since you asked her out he would tell you that you are too pretty to be with her. While she is away you are talking to him and he tells you he wants to ban her. You tell him no and you go to warn her.

She has hated him the whole time too. But she gets really upset at what he said. You get into a fight about it and she breaks up with you.

She does it nicely, but you tell yourself its because you are not good enough for her. Your friend finds out and immediately starts hitting on you, so you tell him he is an asshole.

You see her seemingly fine the next day but you havent felt worse since you left your old school. You had stopped yourself from self harming for nearly 2 years, but you have now done it 3 times in 2 weeks.

Your mother calls you a bitch. Your boss tells you to harden up. You are back where you started, a loser with no friends and a bottomless pit of assignments.

Maybe it will get better when you finish university. But you cant keep going on like this for another 4 years.

At this point, you get social anxiety bad enough it stops you getting any new friends. You havent trusted a person in years. You probably never will again.

But all through it you keep going. You try to get over all of it. But it is a lot.
