Abby took in a deep breath, keeping herself straight as she went up the lift of Vought Tower.

Ben had gotten her this meeting and it was nerve-wrecking.

She was in her best superhero suit - the one for show, that isn't for fighting at all because a single kick or jump would get her tits out.

She was halfway there when the elevator stopped and it opened, revealing Black Noir.

The silent assassin of Payback.

The sheer sight of him made her freeze, and Abby quickly looked down, not wanting to annoy him, but was surprised when he actually greeted her.

"Hey! I don't think we've met?"

She looked at him with wide eyes.

Wasn't he quiet and mysterious?

"Oh, hm... hi!" she greeted him back. "I'm Abigail. Abby. I'm going up for a meeting with Stan Edgar."

"Nice to meet you, Abby," he spoke, and it sounded like he was smiling. "I heard him talking about doing some interviews, yeah. Normally, people gotta jump through a lot of hoops to get his far in the process, but maybe things are changing. It's good to see people like us succeeding and having an actual chance for a change, right?"

She frowned, a little confused, but soon realised what he meant.

Wait, Black Noir was black?

She wanted to ask, but she knew the answer already.

Show Business.

So that was why he was so covered up.

"Thank you for telling me," she smiled at him.

Black Noir just shrugged.

"Just don't go telling the press, and we are cool," he chuckled. "Can't ruin our very inclusive branch."

She laughed, relaxing for once, and the door opened, revealing Ben standing right there.

"What's so funny?" he asked.

She swallowed down. He didn't look too friendly.

Black Noir didn't answer, and she just lowered her gaze.

"Hi, Ben," she spoke softly.

They walked out of the lift, and Ben smiled at her before his face cooled, and he turned to Noir, who was back to his silent stance.

"Go find Mindstorm," he commanded.

Noir left, not questioning anything, and she looked at her boyfriend again.

Ben watched him walk away and close the door before moving to her and kissing her lips.

"Now look at you," he purred, smirking as he looked up and down her body. "This should be your official uniform."

She snorted, shaking her head.

"It's not practical," she reminded him. "My boobs are barely covered."

"Exactly," he winked at her. "Come on. Edgar is waiting for us."

He took her hand and guided her down the hallway to a pair of double doors.

"Now," he stopped, looking at her. "I can't come in with you, but are a show, because you are my girl, and my girl is perfect."

She felt her cheeks flushing.

"Thanks," she whispered. "I hope it goes well."

"It will," he assured her, giving her lips a little peck. "Now go there and make them fall for you the way you made me."

She smiled, feeling a little more confident as she opened the doors and stepped inside.

Two men were sat inside, side by side, with one looking like he didn't want to be here as he drank from his flask, and the other with a face so cold and unreadable it made her whole body tense.

Abby had heard about Stan Edgar from his features on TV, showing himself as the proud president of Vought, but while he was young, he didn't seem too friendly.

"Miss Galanis," he greeted her.

She stepped into the centre o the room silently, and he didn't move.

"Introduce yourself," he instructed.

Abby found her voice quickly.

"I'm Might Abby. Abigail, normally," she told them. "I'm 26 and my powers are weapon creating, superstrenght of over 1500 pounds, and telekinetic binding abilities."

She refrained from explaining what it meant. They probably knew.

They were fucking Vought, of course they knew

“And when did your powers show, Miss Abigail?”

She tried not to shift on her feet, her skin warm as she started to sweat a little bit.

“They showed when I was 8. I had gotten myself locked in a closet and my mother wasn’t home.”

Mum had locked her in the closet and left, because she was too angry at her.

“I was so scared that I just kept banging on the door for the next... maybe 40 minutes?"

Four hours. She got hurt doing it, the side of her right arm started bleeding at some point when she cut herself on a loose nail, and her other arm was bruised for days after.

"And then I remembered the lock on the other side. I remember hearing all the locks synch into place and as I replayed it over and over and over…"

The two locks that mum had turned to keep her there.

"And the door came open.”

It shattered in front of her from just her mind.

She kept up a smile while Edgar wrote something down.

"And what are your expectations if you were to join Payback?"

She looked directly at him.

"I want to be a hero, of course," she affirmed. "I'm used to just performing, but actually helping people... that is my dream."

He didn't say anything, and she spoke up again.

"I do community work as my passion too. It's always good to help those fortunate."

"Now, was this before or after your relationship with Soldier Boy?"

Her heart stopped right there and then, and she could feel all the blood leaving her face.

"Pardon, sir?" she tried to recover.

"Answer my question, Abigail."

Abby swallowed down, clenching and unclenching her jaw. Don't leave them waiting.

She could recover from this.

"Before, sir," she told him. "I was already doing it since long before I even met him."

The man didn't even react.

"How long has your relationship existed?"

She tried to remember.

"Almost a year, I think," she told him. "Maybe 10 months?"

"I assumed such from what I heard about his event last Summer."

Abby swallowed down silently.

Herogasm, pretty much one year ago.

Had he been watching them that long?

He looked up at her, not moving from his seat, and yet it felt like he held all the power in the world at that moment.

“Soldier Boy is a fine spokesperson of Vought. He’s been with the company for decades and his image is of the utmost importance. But sometimes he forgets his position,” his face grew even colder. “Especially with those who enable him.”

She didn't move.

"Enable?" I don't-"

"Do you believe you are the first woman he has become obsessed with?" he asked, not giving her space to speak. "His personal relationships I will let pass through the cracks, but only if he plays smart. If he remembers what is important for Vought. And you know what is important for Vought, don't you?"

She swallowed down.

"Yes, sir."

He shut her folder, and then looked at her again.

"We have decided to take Mosquito as the newest member of Payback," he informed her. "You will leave this room and cease all contact with Soldier Boy. You will receive compensation for your time, and if you would like to renew your contract with us, we can set you up into another team in your district."

Instructions. Not options.

"Thank you..." she swallowed down. "Thank you, sir."

She turned around and left, keeping her posture.

The moment she stepped out of the room, her heart picked up speed, and all she could do was rush to the elevator as her throat closed and her vision blurred.

Fuck, not here, not here.

She pressed te lobby button frantically, but the lift just did a slow steep before stopping.

"Well, ain't this a sigh," a woman's voice grimaced.

"I'm going to vomit," Abby couldn't stop confessing, gasping for air.

Someone grabbed her and dragged her somewhere before she realised she was in a restroom, and only had time to hurry to the toiler before it was too late.

Her breakfast went down the toilet, until her stomach was empty, and Abby rested her forehead on the cool stone before flushing.

When she turned around, she was shocked to see Crimson leaning against the wall beside a long line of sinks.

"Fun interview?" she asked, but there was no malice in her voice.

Abby forced herself to her feet, adjusting her clothes to look at least presentable.

"You can say that," she mumbled.

“You’re not the first person to vomit after speaking to Edgar,” Crimson said simply. “But I can only assume what he said to you shouldn’t be taken lightly.”

She didn’t say anything, washing her mouth.

Countess was right and she knew it, but how could she say that when she loved Ben and he loved her?!

How could anyone even ask her to leave him?

Countess looked into her eyes through the mirror.

"Trust me," she told her. "You'll save yourself a lot of pain."

Finally, Abby turned to look at her.

"What are you talking about?" she asked, voice hoarse and throat a little sore.

Countess looked at her as if she was stupid, but her face softnened with pity.

"He loved me once," she told her. "When we first started dating. It wasn't Vought who set us up, Ben looked for me."

What was she talking about?

“We were happy for a while... but then he grew bored," she continued. "He got tired of the pattern, found other girls to fill his time, and I let him, because what else could I do?"

Her eyes were full of pain as she spoke, but she didn't stop.

"He made it clear that this team was his," she pointed out, "Everyone, only here to suit his whims. That could’ve been you if Edgar let you join. You should be thankful that he didn't."

Abby shook her head.

No. This...

No, just no.

It couldn't be...

"He wouldn't..." she tried to argue. "He wouldn't do this to me."

But if felt like a lie.

Because she knew it was one.

Crimson just watched her before sighed.

"We are all fucked up here," she told her. "We just want our moment. We want to be loved. And he wants your love, because there's an empty pit in his stomach that will never be filled. Not by me and not by you, because you won't ever be enough."

She looked away, and her voice faltered and trembled briefly before she sighed.

"No one will."

Countess raised her eyes to her face again.

"Just leave now," she told her. "Don't worry about being in the blast zone, there are enough easy targets around him for him to take out on when you break it off."

She turned around and left, and Abby was alone again.

It was hard not to believe her.

The way Ben slammed her against the wall and choked her without even thinking...

What else had he done to Crimson that no one saw?

Or worse, what had he done that everyone saw and didn't speak on?

She took in a deep breath, ready to leave the bathroom, she heard a loud grunt after the sound of the elevator.

"Where is she?"

She closed her eyes.

Had Ben been looking for her?

Abby wanted to hide. To say in there and out of his way like she always did with mum.

How would he react?

What would he say?

But she had to do something. She couldn't run away.

So, she stepped out, and he instantly saw her, running to her and taking her face in his hands, so protective it almost melted.

"What happened?" he asked. "What did they say to you?"

"He said I should leave," she whispered, not brave enough to elaborate. "Break off contact."

Ben's lips curled in anger, and she knew he was furious. Still, she couldn't let him just go into another spiral.

"Ben, please," she cradled his face, whimpering. "You know they are right. We both know I'm not worthy enough, we both know-"

"That is not true!" he shouted interrupting her, and Abby flinched. "You are the strongest person I know and sweet and beautiful."

He walked slowly with her.

"You drive me insane every time I see you. Every second I'm not around you I feel like I'm dying," he huffed, emphatic. "You've changed me."

She swallowed down, realising she was now pressed against a wall.

"Ben, this is Vought," she argued with him. “We know what they can do.”

But he wasn't listening to her.

"Baby, we can-"

Still, Abby slowly pushed his hands away.

"Please. I don't want to hurt you," she stepped aside to him, and held back her own tears. "Trust me. Just let me go."

She squeezed his hand before pulling away, and walked out.

Thankfully, Ben didn't follow her.

what kpop girl groups the tlt cast would stan

just saw a post talking about the tlt cast doing kpop dance challenges and couldn't shut up so now i'm making my own post. i know significantly more about girl groups than i do boy groups, so i'm assigning everyone a girl group and/or female soloist enjoy.

judith: she was a wonder girls stan growing up and acts like it was just a casual phase but she still religiously awaits every comeback from sunmi

marta: mamamoo. she's not actually involved with the fandom in any way she just knows good vocals when she hears em

coronabeth: she has pretty broad tastes for the most part and tends to be a bit inconsistent with her ults-- these days it's ive and she is THE wonyoung defender, but she had a hell of a red velvet phase before that, and there was also a good while when she was big into momoland.

ianthe: aoa. miniskirt was the only song of theirs that she knew before the scandal she hopped onto that ship right as it was sinking. i do also think corona showed her the monster mv when it came out and she was obligated by sisterly law to make fun of it but then promptly binged every single thing red velvet has ever created.

babs: a boygroup stan but he makes an exception for ioi (somi specifically).

isaac: he likes nmixx and aespa, but i think he's more intense about craxy and a couple other nugu groups. he enjoys the newer songs that sound like three completely different songs got smashed together my boy wants NOISE.

jeannemary: DREAMCATCHER. girlie is the biggest somnie on earth and has a massive crush on dami and sua in particular. she's a big girlcrush enjoyer in general though she also stans everglow, pixy, and purplekiss.

abigail: girl's generation, obviously.

magnus: i mean he of course likes anything his wife likes especially because she appreciates the classics, but i think he also really loves like. gugudan and fromis. honestly? 9muses too idk why every group with the number 9 in it has his vibes but they all do.

palamedes: stans every girlgroup that has ever existed with all his heart and soul, but especially stayc, billlie, and loona. he's one of those orbits who actually knows all the lore too.

camilla: was a casual blackjack back in the day but the only gg she's really into is g-idle. she appreciates it when a group has some artistic freedom, and also can tell when an idol actually knows how to rap vs just not knowing how to sing.

dulcinea: nature, gfriend, and chungha. she likes cutesy groups that do total 180s in concept i think nature dropping girls was one of the best days of her damn life.

protesilaus: fifty fifty but he stanned before cupid released. also cignature he really likes nugu groups.

silas: gangnam style is the only kpop song he has ever heard and he is deeply distraught upon learning that there's more.

colum: he enjoys one (1) song by a kpop girl group and it is la vie en rose by iz*one

harrowhark: by and large does not listen to kpop but she saw the mv to paradise lost by gain as a young teenager and it Did Something To Her. i think there's a timeline out there where she's a cheshire but in that timeline her parents love her

gideon: so ik i gave mamamoo to marta but gideon appreciates a hot woman with hella ability to command a stage and mamamoo is four of those. she likes hyuna for the exact same reason but i am especially talking about red/roll deep/how's this era hyuna. oh and exid.

mercymorn: she's a blink.

augustine: and he, naturally, is a once!

An alternate take on "Big Hero 6" (2014)

I wanted to rewrite this since there were some things I wanted to change. Maybe I'll start doing this with a couple other Disney films, likely from the renaissance to revival eras. Just to note: I LOVE this movie. This is just stuff I'd change/add in hindsight--or if Disney did the smart thing and remade THIS instead of the classic films (come at me).

Make Fred half-Ainu and able to turn into a dragon. I say “half” despite him being full Ainu in the comics is just so Stan Lee can still be his dad. Plus I’d love it if he had his more level-headed, reserved personality (as seen in the comics) when he’s alone, or as the result of the stress he's going through. Plus since he’s mixed, I’d probably make Hiro and Tadashi fully Japanese to avoid criticism. Not sure if I'd keep his ability to turn into a European dragon or change it into a Japanese-inspired dragon. Maybe he can swap back and forth? While I like the idea of him being born with this ability (in a way similar to X-Men), it'd be a nice reference to Spiderman if he was bitten by a unique species of reptile that allowed him to become dragon-like, or perhaps he was kidnapped and experimented on as a kid (ie the superhero equivalent of relatives of rich people IRL), explaining why he always tries to stay happy-go-lucky a lot. Giving the team more backstory/development in general is always a plus.

2. Incorporate more of GoGo's criminal past from the comics. Maybe explain that her gang-related activity is how she meets Hiro when he's bot-fighting, and explain that Tadashi and the Nerd Club vouched for her from being thrown out of school due to her academic ability, though joining the NC was part of the circumstances for her staying. Maybe Fred has even helped pay for her to be bailed out of jail before--something that's not revealed until the team discovers that he's rich, and GoGo develops a crush on him (her VA Jamie Chung mentioned that she believed GoGo had a crush on Fred).

3. Highlight Hiro and Tashadi's parents more, and (controversial idea) make Baymax Hiro's project. I say this because in the comics, Hiro creates Baymax himself, and Baymax is programmed with his late father's brain engrams. I'd like more focus to be brought to Hiro's family in order to show that Baymax is modeled to be like him. With this, the microbots are instead Tadashi's idea who he introduces to Professor Callaghan, and Baymax is what Hiro creates for admittance into the San Fransokyo Institute, though Tadashi does assist. As such, Baymax is still kind and caring, but his protective and flexible personality from the comics is still incorporated. When trying to quell Hiro's anger, Baymax shows Hiro personal videos Tadashi filmed for him during his time in helping make Baymax. The OG version was emotional just seeing Tadashi again, but in this version, Tadashi's videos would reinforce Hiro's moral compass and make him strive to make Tadashi (and his family in general) proud. Hiro mentions at the end of the film about making Baymax a synthformer.

4. More emphasis on the Japanese influence on San Fransokyo. I feel like even though it's a futuristic place with Japanese accents here and there, I do kinda wish more was done, perhaps taking inspiration from manga like Naruto, which lends Japanese and Western concepts.

5. Highlight Yokai more, revealing his identity earlier to give Hiro more time to process is rage and sadness at Tadashi dying seemingly for nothing. Include more of his backstory from the manga. Using this early on would make it seem like a bittersweet death for a man wo's already experienced so much heartbreak, so when it's revealed that he's alive--and the villain--it reopens the wound. Exposing his identity earlier allows him more screentime, as well as giving us more backstory concerning Abigail. And they'd actually REFER to him as "Yokai" in the movie, rather than "the guy in the kabuki mask." And I'd actually like for him to APOLOGIZE to Hiro. I know he does in the show, but I just want that closure, especially since Hiro sees how grief can ruin you.

6. Nit pick: I’d want the team to have more standout costumes like the X-Men, Inhumans, and Eternals. I’ve never been a fan of the team uniform. While they have unique colors, their looks (save for Fred, who in my version would be a dragon anyway and thus not need a costume--but probably not publicly reveal his identity).

7. Give Honey Lemon abilities similar to their comic counterparts; Honey Lemon would be skilled at martial arts, though I guess her nano-purse can stay the same as the film. Speaking of, probably drop more hints that HL is Hispanic. I'd also like to lean into her embracing the "popular nerd" trope (I'm thinking Tecna from "Winx Club" meets Jean Grey from "X-Men: Evolution"), as concept art of her makes her look like a popular girl. I'd like to think she has the best of both worlds, though she may embrace her nerdy side in particular to avoid pretty privilege/the curse of being the pretty girl. If there is time, perhaps give a flashback to how her genius is underestimated because of her stylish appearance. A piece of concept art gives me Elphaba and Galinda vibes between GoGo and Honey Lemon, and I love that they had a rocky relationship at first.

8. Just like Honey Lemon, make Wasabi a bit closer to his comic counterpart. Wasabi’s qi manipulation would be a neat trick, especially if he was Afro-Asian to help explain his affinity to it. I also love the idea that his superhero persona gives him much more confidence than his usual neurotic personality (he's like this in the movie, but it's not super obvious). I do like the idea that GoGo helps him get tougher, making him similar to Bishop from Marvel.

9. Tying into my 3rd point, show us who Tadashi is besides his scientific interests. We get such a short instance to see his relationship with Hiro and his friends, and it'd be nice for the team (and Aunt Cass) to bring up memories of him more to flesh out who he was as a person, explaining why he wants to help others. I could honestly go either way about him being Sunfire.

You know what? Just make this a 150-minute movie to cram all this is. Lemme know what you think!

So, after seeing your take on the situation with Neve Campbell and Melissa Barrera and all that drama that went down a while back, there's a couple of things I'd like to say about it.

First, it's not your place to tell someone, especially a POC or anyone from a marginalized group what they should think or feel, or to get over something. And even more so when it pertains to a situation like Melissa's. It shouldn't have to affect you personally to understand and respect other people's feelings.

Second, your attitude about the whole situation tells me you're obviously not as educated and informed about Palestine and Israel. And you should probably take a little more time to educate yourself about the matter, before you give your opinions and accuse anyone of anything. And you'd have to be pretty naive to think Spyglass cares anything about Palestine. They don't. 

Third, Spyglass clearly doesn't give a shit about Neve Campbell either or the value she brings to the franchise. And again, you're naive if you think otherwise. You really think they brought her back out of the goodness of their hearts, and because they actually care? No way, they brought her back to save face. If they actually cared about her and the value she brings to the franchise, they'd have paid her what she deserved and treated her right from the start, and had her back for Scream 6. Honestly, Spyglass is who you should be disgusted with here. 

Fourth and last, I don't understand why everyone is so up in arms about the newer characters. It's also very telling to me the fact that when Scream 4 came out, all the new characters were all white and no one had an issue with them or complained. But when the last two movies came out, everyone all of sudden has a problem with the new characters, because they're all POC. 

And before you try to tell me it's not a race issue, I've seen all the racist shit people have said not just about Melissa, but also about Jenna Ortega, Mason Gooding, and Jasmin Savoy Brown. And this whole Neve/Melissa war that Neve stans created is evidence of that. Salty and pressed, because people can't stand the idea of a Latina being the final girl in a popular horror franchise. If you can't support your white faves without putting down POC, then maybe you shouldn't be a fan at all.

Anyways don't see Abigail because Universal supports Israel and free Palestine. 👍

Abigail Child has been at the forefront of experimental writing and media since the 1980s, having completed more than thirty film/video works & installations, and written 6 books. Child’s re-constructed home movie THE FUTURE IS BEHIND YOU (2004) served as inspiration for UNBOUND: Scenes from the life of Mary Shelley shot as imaginary home movies. In recent years, Child has expanded her vertical montage to multiple-screen installation with MIRRORWORLDS and THE MILKY WAY. ACTS AND INTERMISSIONS, the second in her trilogy on Women and Ideology, circling around the life of Emma Goldman and a history of protests, premiered at The Museum of Modern Art’s Doc Fortnight in February 2017.

Child is the principal director, cinematographer and editor on her films. Cultural displacements, mostly urban ones, have been at the heart of her concerns. Personally think Nick would have picked up a few things about art while sneaking peeks at Abi's workshops and maybe he'd even draw her cute pictures that she doesn't know are from him because they look like a kids drawing.

Anon, this made me cry. This is so fucking cute. I bet she would hold onto some for the memories of camp and he might point one out and be like “that’s mine!” And she doesn’t believe him until she sees the NF that he signed.

* MY BEST FRIEND IS A ROCKSTAR: (tw: death) muse a & muse b have been best friends since they were kids and grew up together. throughout their childhood, muse b had always told muse a about his plans to become a famous musician and as he grew older, became more and more determined to make those dreams come true. when they both hit their teen years, feelings eventually grew and the two were head over heels for each other but neither of them was ever able to admit it. they were both terrified that the feelings would be unrequited or that it would ruin their friendships so just imagine the angst of them seeing each other with other people and FGHDFG. anyway, when muse b finally turns twenty-one, he decides to move to hollywood to make his dreams come true, and muse a stays in their small hometown. they keep in contact with one another but as time went on, muse b becomes a huge rockstar with his band and their contact start to drift but they always had each other in their thoughts, wishing they were closer to one another. a few years pass and they still speak but it’s not like before. muse b was hugely successful and enjoyed the life he was now living but always felt like something was missing. that someone was missing… it’s not until he gets a distraught call from muse a telling him that her mother died does he rush on a private jet and comes home to her. after helping her arrange the funeral and being there for her through her grief, he suggests that she comes on tour with him and the band. wanting to run away from everything and everyone in her small town, she agrees. queue cute ass moments on the tour bus, traveling the world and falling in love like they did when they were young. add drama, angst ( because they’re both still dumb and won’t admit to their feels) stadium tours, TENSION!!!, groupies, etc, etc.

you are so right abt fake will and natthew though like their only purpose was to create more drama between Will and Hannibal, they really had no autonomy or depth in the story beyond that :/

And as much great Hannibal content as there is out there I have yet to see much meta or fics really digging into or taking the point of view of freddie, Beverly, alana, Margot or Reba. At best they are mentioned in passing but are never given much thought in fics beyond 'Beverly said something funny and encourages Will to go after Hannibal (kinda fucked up tbh considering how things went down in canon) and freddie getting called a bitch and is violently killed off 20 different ways' and like. maybe background marlana AT BEST. smh. like yes that's essentially how the show treats them as well but I feel like we as fans can do better than that. at least Abigail has some stans that genuinely GET her character and have interesting takes but she too, is often just relegated to 'encouragement for Hannigram' like 😬😡😤

UH HUH!!!! and i don't think u mentioned her but chiyoh is the most interesting character to me. why put her aside for white men who exist in only 1 episode smh....

#tbf the show treats EVERY side character as fodder for will and hannibal's story. but that should be conducive to more fan content. right? #idc about randall fucking tier!!!! why dont these ppl focus on instrumental characters rather than a killer-of-the-week. whatever #if they wanna create universes where white men only interact w other white men thats their prerogative #but i will make fun of them for it 😎 #heeee anyway i can find u some good margot-centric fic

Farmwives AU So, to the surprise of no one, this is the fic I wrote for @maplecroft .  I don’t normally write AU, but I really enjoyed the tropey romantic aspects of this story (where Scylla is a recluse who owns a residence in North Carolina, who hires restless Raelle as her farmhand). I just like finding new scenarios for these two wonderful, complex and compelling characters meet and fall in love. I was inspired by this photoshoot (taken from @bottomraelle on twitter). Doesn’t this just SCREAM lady of a southern manor who is very keen to seduce the hot farmhand? Cause it does to me. Once I saw it, and with some, uh, gentle prodding from friends, this farmhand au was born.

Also, I should apologise for being MIA on tumblr. The length of this story meant I poured all my free time into it. So much so, my real life friends sassed me over it (and my wife made me promise not to do it again). I don’t regret it but I do feel sad I missed so much good content from my favourite people on this platform, including but not limited to  @tsthrace, @crazyintheeast, @tallycraven , @smallfrost​  and @bigcatchuck19.  I am BACK, and hopefully in time for some new season two content to drop over the next month or so (a gal can hope, anyway). Lastly, I should thank @99bad-habits​ AGAIN for being such a trooper and beta-ing all 43,835 words of this at such short notice. If you haven’t read Farmhand, why don’t you give it a try? I promise the story won’t bite (although I can’t promise the same of gentlewoman Scylla).

The champagne bubbles explode in my mouth, filling it with its flavor. There are people of the entire world here with multiple tasks and desires. Thus, this is the event that offers many opportunities; business, alliances and even relationships. One only night will change someone’s life, for better or for worse.

Waddling through the golden saloon, I sight the renascent painting that hide the secret passage that’ll lead me to my exit and the two background windows that I can escape if the doors got locked. I studied the mansion plants for days, decorating each piece as if was my own house, creating inumerous plans for every occasion. The hosters are na old couple. They seem like the definition of simpathy until you know what they’ve done on their lives. With only one day after Katarina asked me help, I discovered Romulo and Abigail Xinston are the contemporary Bonnie and Clyde. They’ve got arrested 3 times for robbery and have at least 4 kidnapping and murderer cases written on the early 90s journals.

There isn’t a single descent person in wealthy events, Agatha used to say, and she was right. Every high society party is filled with gangs, mafias, cheaters and corrupted people. No one is honest. Truth is not a word on their daily vocabulary.

Aware of the tiny gun on my right thigh and the dagger on the left one, I carefully avoid approaching people as I walk through the crowd to keep na eye on the bald man with a blonde mustache. Detective Mikko. The client. My purse is always in my hand, since the party would become a scandal if someone finds the knife inside it. Little do they know that this isn’t the only and best weapon there; the shock lipstick can knock a person out in seconds. Oh, and of course, there are documents there too! But they’re not mine. All of them — ID, driver’s license, cards — are Katarina’s. She doesn’t know I took them all the day before I left Savannah, and if she finds out, she’s too naive to notice that this wasn’t for her money.

It’ll be her if anything goes wrong tonight. If I fight, people will see her as the enemy. If I get arrested, it’ll be at her criminal record.

Today, I’m Katarina Elowen Morris, and not Katherine Elizabeth Morris.

I check my golden bracelet in a way that seems I’m fixing it in my style, although, I’m just checking the two valves full of poison and antidote. The plan is give detective Mikko a little bit of the venom to make him feel ill and go to the bathroom, giving me time to steal the dossier and hide it in my dress. I made sure to pick the weakest poison I have, the one that — in its best circumstances — only make someone pass out. If this guy dies here, it’ll drag all the attention to me, or better, to Katarina, one of the last people to have seen him in life.

“Oh, pardon me!” I exclaim as my body collided with another. “Are you alright?”

“No— I mean, yes!” The brown eyes of the bald man get wide as soon as he notice his mistake. “Yes, I’m alright. The no was for you to not apologize. Like no problem.”

What an idiot.

I force a little giggle. “I’m sorry about the shirt and our drinks” my eyes flows to the two nearly empty cups in each our hands. “Let me get another ones, please." I walk away to a waitress without any word and pick two champagnes. With a simple movement of my finger, I let the venom out of the bracelet and in the alcohol before I turn and go back to the bald man. Thank God, it doesn’t have any reaction on champagne, letting its appearance normal. “Here. Again, I’m sorry. Is just those heels. Always stumble on them!”

He takes the poisoned drink without noticing and laugh, thinking I’m just another silly girl. “It’s no problem at all, Ms....”

“Morris. Katarina Morris.”

He nods and shake my hand. “Johnson. Mikko Johnson.”

We talk for a while, having a calm conversation until he gets interrupted by a colleague and dispense himself. I smile and walk calmly through the golden saloon, knowing the detective drank the poison and in just 2 hours it’ll get its effect in his body. Amateurs think that they have to get every time the most lethal venom. It’s right to use it sometimes, but is good to avoid it to not get caught, especially in a public occasion. If the victim dies immediately or in a few minutes after had drunk the poison, you easy will be on the suspect list.

Being a assassin, a spy, takes patience, and though I’m not the most patient person in this world, I know when to have it. I’m not an amateur, a snitch. I’m a spymaster, and I have to show every single soul why I earn this title.

After half an hour, I start to walk around the detective’s allies to catch some extra information. Then, I slid to the hallway where my exits are to make sure they’re still available. The windows are intact as should be, the renascent painting on the other hand... There’s a scratch on the top of the wooden frame that weren’t there.

A few meters behind me, probably in the end of the corridor, I hear steps. They would be soundless if the person wasn’t heavy. I know it’s a man, and that he’s not alone in this party, but I have to keep the appearances.

Laying my hand down as if I got tired to admire the beautiful painting, I go to my purse and open it quietly, picking the knife up. The steps begin to approach, making me quickly turn around and throw the blade in the guy’s direction. Even hitting his stomach, the man muffles his scream and falls to his knees, faintly.

Really? He’s that weak to not take a little knife?

“He’s not the only one”, says a woman on the top of the stairs, and I start to run to the end of the hallway to not waste time and get advantage in case she wants to attack.

As soon as I reach the open arch to turn the right, a hand grabs my arm aggressively and push me to their left, hugging my back tightly. I squirm in his grip and stick my heel in his foot in the moment I see the white cloth his holding. The man scream and loosens his grip, giving me the opportunity to elbow him in the chin. Once I’m free, I throw away the chloroform handkerchief and get ready to run, but the way destiny loves me, the guy catches my ankle and pulls me to the ground with him.

“I see you’ve finally toghen up.” He says after resiste multiple kicks.

“And I see you’re very rude!” I punch him in an attempt to stand up and run away. Unfortunately, big man turns his head to left and dodge it. He grunts in rage and grabs my wrist, twisting it in a way I almost scream in pain.

Vulnerable. That’s what I am right now, allowing the guy to get on me with the intention of immobilization. His two big hands hit my head on the ground.

All I hear is my own tired breath before pass out.
