HC : SAIYAN ANATOMY

it makes sense for saiyans to be so human-looking. as a bipedal primate mammalian species, alot of human traits was of course, inevitable. yet they still have distinct enough features compared to humans that they are noticeably different- to not mention the obvious taxonomy that would influence these changes. it's very possible that both humans and saiyans had a common biological ancestor, but split due to numerous factors on their individual planets that lead to saiyans being classified as monkeys and so powerful in the scale of the universe, while humans classified as great apes and so weak in comparison to the scale of the universe. of course just simple taxonomy isn't the only thing that's all different about them.

speaking on their environmental factors, saiyans had to evolve to compensate for the harshness of both planets sadala and vegeta- they had to adapt to the gravity that was considered ten times more dense then galaxy standard gravity. their bodies grew massively in strength- with their muscle tissue and the bones in their skeletal structure growing stronger and denser, which not only made them stronger, but also far more durable then most other races in the universe. they even developed a small regenerative healing factor, as the constantly combative and aggressive nature of the saiyan species required for their bodies to be capable of taking more damage, and to in turn, adapt their bodies to that damages- which lead to the biological enigma that is the zenkai boost.

speaking more on saiyan's durable physiology, saiyans also grew to develop a wider, stockier ribcage- those bones being especially strengthened and dense compared to the rest of the skeletal structure- which leads to a saiyan's unusually wide and heavily built bodies. what these ribs are for is not just increased protection of the torso, but to also protect a saiyan's two hearts. both hearts are in the same area in the upper left of the torso. with the greater heart doing most of the work in pumping oxygen and blood through the body, while the lesser heart is much smaller and connected near the bottom end of the greater heart where it, for the most part, applies the same function to a lesser extent and leeches nutrients and recycles a small amount of waste product that the greater heart produces- which in turn assists in a saiyan's much greater amounts of stamina than other species. another function is serves, is a temporary back-up heart. should a saiyan's heart be punctured, stop working, etc- the second heart will fire up in rapid production, continuing the pumping of blood and oxygen in the brain and body without even a moment of lag in between, though of course to a lesser extent. should a saiyan be given time to recover from this grievance injury, there is potential for the greater heart to repair itself to a degree, though in most cases, the saiyan will die due to blood loss or cardiac failure from the lesser heart not capable of keeping up with the body's functions.

saiyans also sport one of their most distinct monkey-esque qualities- their tails. the tail is essential to the saiyan body plan. it applies extra balance to their heavy frames, acts as an extra limb for either leisure or combat, and provides the gateway into the oozaru transformation as well as true mastery over the super saiyan. the tail is almost fully autonomous, as it is connected to the body through the somatic nervous system, which impacts reflexes. the tail is the limb that has the most nerves in the saiyan body, which leads to it being so sensitive and when untrained, will drastically shut down many other nerve endings within the body once grabbed. yet once the tail is trained, the sensitive nerves become gradually more hardy and durable- no longer leading to paralysis upon being grabbed. the tail will also reflexively maneuver and dodge out of the way of attacks aimed specifically for it, making it quite difficult to cut off and cripple the saiyan.

saiyans also have many other distinct monkey-like attributes. such as massive upper and lower canine teeth, usually around 3 inches in length on the average saiyan, with loose cheek pouches in their mouths to sheath into upon closing. their jaws produce a bite force of around 5500 PSI, much stronger than most species and can easily tear through flesh and bone. their stomachs are strongly acidic with an effective digestive system that allows for the consumption of skin, hair, hooves, horns and bones. this all combined shows that saiyans are adapted for a heavily protein-based diet, yet saiyans are strictly omnivorous and will happily consume fruit and vegetative foods as well. these adaptations impact them greatly when they need to survive on worlds outside of their own- preying upon the local flora, fauna.... and civilized population.

like many other monkey species as well, saiyans have prehensile feet. able to grip, throw and punch with them just as well as they are with their hands. though in most cases, they primarily went unused- as most saiyans wore shoes to protect against the rocky, heated ground and sand from their desert planet.

finally, saiyans gained a very specific evolutionary trait that was gained from their primarily combative life style and hostile environment- slowed aging. saiyan children remain rather small and compact through early childhood well into adolescents- at this time is where the saiyan will eat the most they can and have their body build up as much strength as possible. then on the precipice of young adulthood, the saiyan will drastically grow in both height and strength- on average to about six feet in length. from there they will remain that height and physical appearance for a majority of their lifespan for the next six or seven decades. this is so that the saiyan remains in peak fighting condition for a long period of their lives. though around the ages of 50, a saiyan will begin to have a slow and steady change in their physical appearance in that their hair will slowly change from black to brown in color. this phenomenon is called "browning", and is a signal that the body has begun preparation and adjustment for the final cycle of saiyan life- rapid aging. after a life time of consuming and burning massive amounts of bodily energy, injuries, and scars- at around the ages of 70-80, the saiyan's body drastically lowers its production rate. the second heart stops its functions completely, the fat and nutrients in both bones and muscles have begun to be repurposed for slow energy maintenance in the body, and the brownish-black hair on top of the saiyans hair begins to rapidly grey and turn white over the next few months and years. the saiyan will be unable to even turn super saiyan, as it will apply too much strain on the body- and their power will rapidly decrease downwards until it stabilizes averaging monumentally lower than it was in their prime. it is rare for a saiyan to ever reach this stage in life, as saiyans tend to often die in battl, and those saiyans that do manage to reach this stage are celebrated and revered as legendary warriors of their species, or social pariahs that are shunned for their cowardice for their last few decades.

your asks are always so strange (both in content and wording) that I end up having to read them like 5 times before I can begin to parse them. anyway I love that you cite tina belcher instead of just. rpf. like the literal terminology for this phenomenon that we do very much have at our disposals. so I even can’t tell if you’re asking “who would have rpf written about them” (which also presumably differs from historical fiction about past avatars or smth like that) and “who would write freaky friend fiction (like tina)?” i’m gonna go with the latter bc it’s way funnier.

i think that girl meng would definitely have written some….things…..about aang, iykwim. zombie apocalypse au, enemies to lovers, there was only one bed, etc etc.

i can also just kind of see jin doing this (abt lee from the tea shop or otherwise) i can’t explain it she just has fujoshi vibes. like, whenever ppl talk about how jin, zuko, and jet should have all been friends in ba sing se, i’m usually like “uhh… why tho….” but now i see why. it’s so that she could write jetko rpf about them.

for therapeutic purposes mai probably writes a lot of really cathartic short stories about her entire family, the entire royal family, and ty lee all falling into a sinkhole. but then mai saves ty lee from drowning at the last minute, which teaches ty lee to appreciate her instead of that stupid sinkhole bitch azula (this is all pre boiling rock, obviously).

at one point mai and sokka find a notebook of really angsty fanfiction about the blue spirit and they’re like, “oh my god this is amazing we gotta show this to zuko, he’ll get a kick out of this,” not realizing that zuko actually wrote it himself as a way to work through his identity crisis. he’s just like, “yeah….wow….so cringey, right? but also, kind of incredible how this writer articulates the struggle of the bisected self in extremis so beautifully……right? you guys think so too?” and sokka and mai just look at each other and silently go, “okay…. we may have made a mistake…..”

when katara was a child she would make up stories in her head about finding the avatar and befriending him and having him fall in love with her due to her courage and beauty and (hopefully, someday) waterbending talent and they would defeat the firelord together and live happily ever after. but thankfully she never wrote any of this down, because paper is a very scarce commodity in the southern water tribe and even she knows better than to invoke gran gran’s wrath on that. she never tells aang. although at some point (in sworn secrecy) she does end up telling zuko (assuming that he’d understand considering he also devised fantasies of finding the avatar to cope with his miserable existence), and he laughs for hours.

during their time together in the nwt, yue’s diary gets filled with all kinds of lurid fantasies of sokka killing hahn (in increasingly brutal ways) and sneaking her out of the palace so that she can join team avatar and they can be together forever. of course, whenever they talk about it, she’s just like “yes I love hahn he is great and I love my people and I would never leave my home” so sokka’s just like “okay girl you do you.” but then during the siege, yue actually sees sokka kill a man, and she’s suddenly so conflicted because all her self-indulgent fantasies were a bit too real (and in reality, he’s way more efficient about killing people than he was in her fantasies, almost like he’s done it before….) and she has no clue how to feel about it. anyway, thankfully, yue has learned how to hide her diary really well at this point, because if arnook ever found those particular pages he would’ve tracked down sokka and killed him without hesitation.

ok bonus follow up to the fujoshi jin writing jetko rpf au: eventually they find it (or maybe she’s bold enough to just straight up give it to them. you know what, she might be) and read it. jet’s like, “uhhh…. jin….. i’m not gay. you know that, right?” (he’s actually been hitting on her for… a while now…) and zuko’s like, “okay well i might be. BUT NOT FOR HIM!!!”

There's something abt the shift in atmosphere between the first part of squid craft and the rest of it, especially when it comes to dtqk+

The first couple of days everyone was having fun, talking, meeting new people, and joking around. It was such a light-hearted event full of friendly competition. In fact, in the wolf game, people were working together, giving callouts of where the wolves were, telling each other when to run and when to fall back, etc. etc. And at the end of the day, they went back to the main hall and continued joking around, calling each other "Snapchat" and "Green Screen" and "Build-A-Bear Bitch," etc. Even on the second day, they were meeting up between rounds of Simon Says, talking and laughing. The whole "Tubbo died" bit was going strong with everyone acting super shocked when Tubbo would very happily go "I'm Alive!!"

Even after Karl and Tina died, they were able to mingle in groups and spend time together.

Can you imagine the shift after day three where so many of their friends died. First it was Dream, and then suddenly Quackity and Rubius and Spreen and Sylvee and Tubbo and Foolish were gone. And they went back to the main hall and it was Sapnap and George and Hannah. And it really wasn't a game—it was a deadly competition. After day 3 there was more competitiveness between players—in good competitive faith irl, but can you imagine how that was in universe? To have gone from making so many new friends and throwing around playful taunts to suddenly be so, so alone surrounded by a language other than your native tongue? And then Hannah's gone, too, and Sapnap and George know they can't trust anyone but each other, not anymore.

And do you think it hurts? Remembering the first day when Dream was telling everyone he pet the wolf, and people were joking about Tubbo dying, and the main hall was filled with a light hearted atmosphere between friends instead of feeling far too big for the number of people remaining with the future weighing down on them? Do you think it hurts when Sapnap and George are against so many odds but they have to win for Dream and all their friends.

(But maybe they're having doubts because is there anything left for them if they win? Who will they be going home to? Another place far too big and missing too many people? Do they want to keep living even when they're haunted by the ghosts of those they lost?)

thank you for asking :) idk about wild lol but here are some headcanons that are very niche nobody else has ever thought abt them

zeke's dad lives in the carnie town and works at wonder wharf which is why he was part of the rent strike in season five. living in a trailer makes it easy for zeke's family to move around frequently but bcuz of the lack of personal space zeke spends a lot of time hanging around at jimmy junior's house and sleepovers (which jimmy pesto doesn't LOVE but tolerates)

mentioned before but harley's dad god bless him does NOT know how to do her hair which results in her mostly wearing very simple hairstyles, when she's a bit older she learns how to style her own hair and loves doing crazy hairstyles like braiding beads into her hair or bantu knots which everybody at school thinks is very impressive and cool. she also experiments with hair dye and it goes Not Very Well

tina is gayle's favorite niece/nephew and she's probably not supposed to have a favorite but she ABSOLUTELY does and it is tina. this is almost canon imo she clearly spends the most time with tina (and of course she's the one who made gayle an auntie!!!!!) i don't think gene or louise are jealous tbh bcuz the benefits of being gayle's favorite included being sent all her old dirty bras and helping her bring her cats to the vet in one single cat carrier

there was a brief time when louise was like five or six where she absolutely HATED teddy bcuz he was coming into the restaurant regularly and she convinced herself that he was trying to steal linda away from bob and become their new stepfather (and from what she had seen in media she assumed if she had a stepfather she wouldn't get to see bob anymore which was upsetting) so she started acting out and doing things like squirting him w/ ketchup or pouring water on him so that teddy would stop coming into the restaurant, eventually linda had a talk with her abt her behavior and reassured her that teddy is just a friend and nobody is going to steal bob away from her!!!! after that louise warmed up to teddy lol

brian Does change clothes in that multiple times there's descriptions of particulars of That Day's Outfit and v much not in a "hey hasn't he been wearing this the whole time" way lol which is very fun in that it does seem to emphasize that brian is solely concerned about it in a completely mundane way, whether it's then actually harder or easier to remove paint as a ghost....about the same i suppose given that his tangibility seems v ordinary and he's asking about washability methods like he doesn't think he needs any extra factor. the fun of brian's general like anxiety & suffering being potentially Just His Personality Already, Ordinarily but perhaps ambiguously, partially, having to do with having died & all....

a sort of similar detail that's more ghostly is that brian seems to kind of Feign going home but evades details about it. e.g. one time brooke asks where he lives & he Gestures In A Direction, like you do, and another time he just kind of walks off into the night which our narration via brooke presumes as Towards Home. although it's a mysterious time b/c zeke just kind of goes off somewhere that's Not home and it isn't ever specified what he was up to there, and then tina emerges to add to the uncertainty and be suspicious. but brian like, leaves the school, goes off somewhere, shows up at / outside it or hangs out w/them at zeke's house From somewhere, and apparently can change clothes and isn't like looking very 1920s with it, but there's no further details lol. and like, is he keeping up with schoolwork in all of this, where's he actually go at night, he presumably can't like die again But otherwise his experience seems very corporeal and ordinary, i Think the only hint of anything being off in the book is zeke's dog being Somewhat wary of brian lol, which is surely a deliberate like animal detecting the paranormal situation. but even said dog isn't Too pressed about it like, he's just some guy

although the book, as i was skimming through passages there, also has zeke hold the back of his head and say he thinks someone hit him after the show lmao which is quite the bold move for brian otherwise being so ordinary and only remarkably nervous and threatened rather than threatening, not the Most to do but i think it'd be a whole deal to muster that level of a swing at someone. but you know, you have to get him on stage somehow and then the musical kind of making it more ambiguous like, Not implying anything abt the method via which one was passed out the whole time, i'd again just be like "eh ghost things," why not, given that there's Also the one moment where he's failing to feel Warmth or what all as the substitute Hint that he's not just entirely some guy, i.e. there can be Some traits that are a bit more supernatural, and that seems more attuned to brian than him being v successful at just suddenly taking someone tf out. like sure on the one hand One Last Goal, maybe he was procrastinating too on trying to sabotage zeke any more elaborately / before the last second, but. and musical brian isn't So nervous as book brian but still a bit for sure, and being very regular all the same....emile with another inadvertently misdirecting safety talk about not concussing anyone. although there's also the part where a ghost who's just some guy hanging out might be very blasé about death lmao. like according to gb ghost kids lore, zeke may or may not be aware he died, and then just get to continue hanging out lmao, although you do generally seem to need some especial Mission to fulfill whether you're also aware of that or not. a loop formed here where ghosts keep having to wait around to perform as the phantom and accidentally(?) killing the living actor to do it, who now has to linger as a ghost for the next production....while that kind of grim humor might be gb appropriate it's evident zeke's fine, but like, if you're a ghost, or if you're alive, don't hit anyone in the head with the intent to knock them out and Only knock them out, life advice

and yeah in the book he introduces himself as brian colson the first time and the musical goes with that too, though can't know if it's In Dialogue anywhere lol given that he introduces himself first name only. and as from indiana, which is also in the book, and it's again very fun ambiguity like yeah maybe he Is from there, and/or maybe he's just like, naming some adjacent state to explain where he Ostensibly moved from so as to just now be showing up. brooke putting him through a steamed hams routine like wwhat region. uhhpstate indiana. well i'm from gary & i've never heard anyone use the expression "[paint] stained hands"

i cant believe how much yet how little i remember? like

several girls I knew in 4th grade b4 moving to arizona. there was an addyson, london, I think a heather. addyson was my best friend and we talked about supernatural things like werewolves and ampires and witches. i had one small convo with london and idek what it was on, but I know her. heather wrote really small.

then in arizona, a boy named diego, who moved at the end of 5th grade. ex-friends named kristina, kaitlynn, jordan, and cerenity. (tina and kaity were toxic asf, I just grew apart from jordan and cerenity.) my brothers friend trey, who had at least one shirt from the womens section.

my ex-best friend aiden, who was bi. (we grew apart during covid. again nothing bad) i remember them casually mentioning their bisexuality and me being confused. later they got a pixie cut, like our band teacher. i loved it. they introduced me to anime, the first being ouran high school host club. it was like 10 seconds, but I do know it was one of the hitachiin twins waking up. aiden always wore a red Aphmau hoodie, one of those lycan family ones, I think they were called. i do know it was based on aaron from mystreet.

a girl named savannah. I don't like her much, to be honest. she got dragged into a fight in front of me, and I started having a panic attack, and she was pissed at me for not helping her. even though I was literally frozen in fear! struggling to breathe right! like bffr. anyways

a girl named Sarah! we were good friends, I don't remember much abt her but she had a lot of bath & bodyworks hand sanitizers and an mp3 player.

a girl named sadie! we still talk, but not as much as we used to. she was the first friend I made outside of school. she really likes sailor moon.

but waaaaay before any of this, back in preschool. I remember it being show and tell day, and I'd brought a plush monkey to school. I remember being anxious, and sitting on my foot on the rough rug. it was one of those ones that are patterned for playing with trains and I think it had the abcs around the outside. anyways, when it was my turn I went up and talked about my plush a bit. afterwards, I got to choose a prize from a little bin, and I chose a pink flower-shaped bangle. I don't remember much after that, but I do remember leaving the monkey on accident and needing to go back in to get it.

we did get it, and just recently I think it was given away.

anyways, the point is, I remember a lot of people and faces. typing this post out I remembered everyone's faces a lil too clearly.

(which maybe is why mike said no to tina’s proposal!) so yes… i am a proponent of endgame rutherchang sjdnshd <3

I mentioned the cut line about Timothy's placeholder actor talking about a brother and a Vault Key in the tags on another post recently and now I can't stop thinking about it because the line itself + the person saying it just didn't sit right with me since I found it so. Here's a thing I wrote up to make sense of it in my Swiss cheese platter of a brain

"For losing control of your brother when we had him locked down? Yeah, we're square. But last I checked, you still owe us a Vault Key."

And here's his placeholder actor saying some other lines that are actually from the dlc so ya know I'm not joshing u abt this being Timothy's placeholder guy

So anyway I was thinking about who Timothy's actually talking to who has a brother, right?

Naoko Katagawa maybe? I can't imagine Tyreen would wanna listen to Timothy. Maybe someone in the casino dlc was supposed to have a brother. He could be talking to Aurelia, but then he'd have to be on the side of the villains, no?

Yeah so um.

My theory is that this is actually Troy's line and a different placeholder actor was used for him here. Then it makes sense why he's telling this mystery character that a) mystery person has their brother locked down (Hammerlock in the Anvil? Weird way to say he's imprisoned, buuut it's what fits) and b) they owe the speaker a Vault Key (Aurelia does indeed owe them a Vault Key during Eden-6).

The biggest thing against this is that Troy's placeholder sounds way different to me.

For example, here's a line from Troy talking about Tannis to the Vault Hunters:

Maybe I'm as bad with voices as I am with faces, but this sounds different to me. This will be so hilarious if everyone is like "cruddy. Bro. Those are the same guy." like I'm sorry!!! I'm bad at this lol

It could be that they just had whoever was available recording lines when they were introduced so they could fit them in on time- we know the casino dlc was already in development before the game shipped, so maybe they just grabbed Timmy's VA to do a quick line or two for Troy until they could get Troy's VA in. It is funny to me that (if this is the case) Timothy's was the one chosen for it, cuz he even says the line the way Timtam would. Meanwhile, you can hear Troy's placeholder guy absolutely Going For It in his lines and being sassy as hell. But maybe Timothy's placeholder was the only one available at the time.

All THAT said I'll still hold that saying "losing control of your brother when we had him locked down" is an extremely weird way to say he was broken out of prison by his friends. It sounds less like a "dammit you lost the brother we kidnapped" and more "this powerful person escaped our trap and we're fucked now" and I mean if this were H2O AU and Hammylocks was a werewolf in canon I'd be all over this, but he's not?? And that's why I originally thought this line was directed at someone like Naoko or Tyreen, who DO have powerful brothers that warrant keeping them under control and 'locked down'. Not that Hammerlock isn't strong in his own right, he's a badass hunter, but. You know what I'm saying? Compared to other characters featured in the story, he's not so scarily strong.

Maybe I'm reading into it wrong, I tend to do that frequently lol. If I'm right though and this is a weird way to express what happened in-game, then I think it makes sense why this line didn't click for me.

It is fun to try and figure out what goes on behind the scenes of this game. I'm really excited for the cut content stuff. I hope we finally get an explanation for those Evil Tyreen and Evil Troy portraits and the whole story where Troy flips out after Tyreen either gets hurt or dies and demands the cameras be shut off. And Scooper!!!! I want Scooper, he's so fuckin cute and he had a quest with a bully and 😭. Also the Eridian Gates, those seemed so goddamn cool.

I'd also love answers as to why a Guardian started talking and why Lilith asked us if we heard that after we killed Tyreen in the subtitle files. I assume that was gonna be a tie-in to the Overseer (same voice actress for the mystery Guardian line from the Vault of the Destroyer and the Overseer) with her trials since she and that whole situation is obviously very important to the lore if the Guardian Takedown had anything to say about it, but they went with the other method of finding each area? Which is fine, just a bit confusing cuz it does then make the Trials feel like side content when they appear to be main-story stuff.

And why originally Ava was supposed to ask Lilith to teleport them for noodles on Athenas instead of Lilith just yeeting Elpis across the galaxy!!!! Like I'm 90% sure the original ending had Lilith sticking around after she gets her powers back. And she was totally supposed to join us in the final fight against Tyreen, there's no reason she was suddenly holding her stomach and limping in that final cutscene. Plus her voice lines there, PLUS the Sanctuary drop pod right next to the vending machines. Also you can find Boom Town right above the portal to the Vault of the Destroyer if you noclip out of the area and that was probably there because Tina, Brick, and Mordy were also going to join us. I found their fightin/encouragement lines in the subtitle files.

Oh, also, I'd love to know more about the Bug Smugglers TV show. Annnnd the Second Stars cuz I love them. And can we see some Junpai-7 content pls 👀 it's mentioned soooo often between Commander Lily and BL3 that I wanna believe it was planned at least a little bit. Beach resort planet hoooooo! God imagine if we get to see Krieg and Maya together on Skywell-27 with like concept art or original scripts or something. I'd genuinely cry.

i haven't used this as a madd blog for literally two years but the time has come where i want to talk about one of my paras, Emma.

she's currently dead and in my paracosm the afterlife is just this massive forest with all these elaborate treehouses, called Gratis

in my paracosm you can temporarily die and go to Limbo for a certain amount of time, which is till Mellilla the God of Death gets sick of you and kicks you out, someone figures out how to resurrect you or you find a way out. you can temp die several times, and can only be permanently killed if a mark on your body is damaged (this is usually a blue crescent moon, hidden from all attackers so it's just pure bad luck if it's hit, and it's also in a different location on each person)

after you are permanently killed, you are sent to Gratis in which you usually can't escape

Emma, when alive, was notorious for having the most temp deaths and also being the person with the fastest escape time from Limbo. she often died because of the war they were in, though was only executed once

she perma died at 21 in a train crash in which she was shielding her daughter as a soul in Limbo managed to warn her of what was to happen

after about 12 years old being in Gratis, she got kinda sick of being dead and managed to escape Gratis

naturally the God of Death is Concerned because it Shouldn't Be Possible and so he goes to the God of Protection who is trying to work on overthrowing the tyrannical Queen of the Gods but i digress. Novo and Mellilla agree that whilst Emma will be resurrected at some point, it would be a bad time to resurrect her now, and so Mellilla locks her in Limbo

except he Fucked Up A Bit and there are three versions of Emma's soul, each from a significant death in her life

12 year old Emma, who died via hypothermia after her abusive mum kicked her out of the car during a blizzard

17 year old Emma, who died via execution

And 21 year old Emma, who died in that train crash

and they all have specific things they talk about, when they talk- 12 y/o Emma talks about the snow, 17 y/o Emma talks about being kept prisoner and about her girlfriend Tina, and 21 y/o Emma won't shut up about trains, train stations her daughter and how rainy it was. she also complains of her back hurting- her mark was between her shoulder blades, and a fairly big chunk of the wreckage hit her back, including her mark
