I just remembered the reason I stopped going to anime club at my school even though I love anime is because (no offence) I hated the types of anime that were popular in America. Anime that are main stream in America are usually action anime and I just can’t find those interesting. I can tolerate anime like My Hero Academia and Demon Slayer because they have enough comedy and fun non action moments to keep it interesting for me. Though eventually I just found myself losing interest and stopped watching, especially after being forced to watch the first season multiple times. (There are popular anime that seem fun like Full Metal Alchemist that I just haven’t gotten around to watching) I can’t deal with Attack On Titan because it’s way too dark for me and and non action scenes don’t grab my attention. Fire Force is lighter but it’s the same deal. I watched the entirely of Madoka Magica and thought it was fine but again too dark for my tastes. (I also watched the Magica Record anime and found that one way for fun and watchable) Sailor Moon seemed I interesting at first but I quickly got bored. Naruto and Dragon Ball Z just couldn’t grab me. Spy X Family was probably the first popular anime that I was really into, I mean who wouldn’t watch to watch a spy make a fake family with what he doesn’t know is an assassin and an esper. It’s fun and sweet and kept me interested and I can’t wait for more. I ran out of popular anime. I remember one time we had a vote for what anime to watch next and each member was allowed to submit an anime. I submitted Sleepy Princess In The Demon Castle because it’s a fun anime about a princess wrecking havoc in the demon castle because she can’t sleep. Mob Psycho 100 won (though I will admit it kinda fun to watch) second vote my submission didn’t even get onto the list. I couldn’t go to any meetings during winter because I joined the swim team but when the season was over I went to two meetings and then stopped. I didn’t want to watch the same popular anime again and I enjoyed it more. I enjoy watching a 1/4 human, 3/4 shinigami teen struggle with being broke. I enjoy watching Precure (I don’t know to describe it). I enjoy watching a girl be the stupidest person on earth. I enjoy watching a teenage magician do crime. I enjoy different stuff than the majority of the people in that anime club and that’s why I hated it, because I was always outnumbered. That’s why I stopped. I hate most of the popular anime in America and that’s okay. I’m not required to love the most popular anime to be an anime otaku, I’m required to love anime I love. (I’m not a weaboo because I’m Japanese.) This was just something I had to get off my chest. Thank you for reading this. Please don’t hate me.
