And you hang up the phone, block his number. Its better this way, you're sure by this time next week he'll have moved onto someone else, someone better that could keep up with someone as amazing as him.

But then something unexpected happens. His brother comes looking for you. Rin warned you about him once, said that after a bad breakup with his girlfriend he hadn't been the same.

"I thought they got back together though?" you had asked him confused after he had told you. He never answered you back, just got this weird look on his face before giving you a warning; "Try not to get too close. And try not to piss him off."

Yet here he was, at your doorstep staring you down like you were the scum of the earth. Apparently you hadn't heeded the warning.

"Havin' fun?" he asks, not even blinking while he towers over you, and your voice is caught in your throat, too scared to even make a sound at the older Haitani. "Cause I'm sure fuckin' not."

And suddenly he's grabbing you by the hair so tight you're scared he's going to rip it from your skull, but no, he's dragging you out the door and down the steps of your apartment ignoring your cries and screams for help.

Muttering something the whole way to his car. Something like "...You bitches and the games you like to play. Fuck with our heads, you and my girl always got make fuckin' problems for us-"

Then he's shoving you into the passenger seat making sure you can't get out. One moment you feel like you've found your voice again and then the next it leaves you because Ran has a gun pointed right at you only seconds later.

"Your gonna fix this you ungrateful bitch," he spits, eyes so full of hate it makes you want to curl in on yourself, "Put my baby brother back together and act like you like it. Like you fuckin' love it. Or I'll kill you my damn self and make you regret makin' a fool out of the Haitanis. Do you understand, Y/N?"

You're not sure if you say yes or if you even or in affirmation before he's pulling out of the parking lot and speeding dangeroulsy to some unknown destination.

And you are crying, silently shaking and sobbing because you're so scared of what he's going to do and he's still holding the gun right at your head, muttering to himself yet again.

"I'll make it right- I'll fix him and he'll be ok- fuckin' women making us loose our goddamn minds-,"

Finally you pull into a warehouse, abandoned by the looks of it and new found fear arises in you- Is this where Ran is going to kill you? But no.... This is where Rin is.

You see him first, his eyes are dark and he looks so tired from his usual self, and his expression is so empty, so emotionless that you're worried for a split second but then you see...the man. At least that's what he used to be.

His face is beaten in, and his body is contorted in such a mangled way you're sure his limbs had been broken, and Rin is on top of him. Pummeling away at the already red and mangled face.

You can't help the small gasp that leaves you and you probably would've ran out there screaming had Ran not been holding you by the neck.

But your scream was enough to alert the younger Haitani, and he turns to look at you with eyes wild like an animals. "Y-Y/N?" he whispers standing on shaking legs, "B-baby is that you?"

It didn't matter how hard you tried you couldn't make out a single sound, too shocked by the scenes unfolding around you. Thankfully, Ran wasn't short on words....

"Ya, I brought Y/N here 'cause she has somethin' to say," Ran shoves you forward, making sure that the gun at his side is always within your view. A silent reminder of what he made you promise...

Rin doesn't let you get any words our before he's embracing you with bloodied hands, smearing another persons bodily fluid all over you... "Oh baby, please tell me you're back, please? Its been hell, I can't do this without you, I'm loosin' my fuckin' mind."

Its like your brain suddenly catches up with you. You have to say yes or else... "I-I'm back," you nod, hugging him back with shaking hands, "I'm... I'm sorry Rin."

And suddenly he's sobbing, pulling you away only so he could hold your face in his bloody hands to look into your eyes, "How could you do this to me, I love you so much,"

listen ik i talk a lot about the way you present the characters but i can’t oh my god i csnt stop. i’ll start off with ran again n i hope it won’t be too long so !! there’s so much to say about the past part i was not okay i was about to scream and throw up and cry why would you do that to me 💔💔 i’ve noticed you always describe rans words as sharp and sometimes even loud and when i talk ab rin i’ll mention the difference and how important i think it is 🤭🤭 not only do i think it’s extremely fitting, but that one word always sets the mood and pace for the next few paragraphs at least if h get what i mean. throughout the majority of tjr chapters, rans tone is being presented as very..asserting? i guess? and it’s such a small smalll tiny detail but it does wonders for, not only his character and character development, but also for understanding him and rins AND him and yns relationship. a lot of the time his sharp tone isn’t even menacing, it’s more grounding and in some situations, asserting. i think someone else mentioned how ran is big on eye contact snd i think that this AND the eye contact thing is jusy so… intimate idk how else to explain it. yn is always shying away from their gazes but also their words and i think tnst ran using a more firm tone in situations where yn may be a little…yk unwell or overstimulated is so beautiful to read idk i love it im just 🤭🤭🤭💗💗💗💗 and oh my gof in this chapter… when the roles were reversed and it was ran being unable to meet her eyes, ran holding his tongue because and not even being able to speak, ran being more vulnerable and emotional than we’ve ever seen him… i cant i had to stop reading for a second i jsut,, the roles being reversed was so interesting snd i didn’t expect it AT ALLL. and the way he made her promise??? i love that ran is big on eye contact and yk yn using her words bc that’s EXACTLY HOW I SEE HIM AND I LOVE THSY YOU WRIYE HIM THIS WAY !! wanna give you a kiss for showing us a more vulnerable side of him im screaming oh my god…

that’s enough of ran for now idw it to b too long 💔💔 BUT oh my FUCKING GOD the way you reversed the roles between ran and yn, RIGJT SFTER DOING TJR SAME W RSN SND RIN?? i’m so used to seeing the words “sharp” and “hissed” being used with ran i had to do a double take n reread the paragraph to make sure it was rin you were talking about. this definitely counts as cjaracter development to me and it was so beautifully done i can’t even think of a better way for that scene to have been depicted tbh. rindou has always been the more shy? and just generally softer one between the two (at least with yn 🤭🤭) so seeing tnst drastic change and watching HIM get fed up was so insane i never knew i needed it tnst bad. i don’t think ive ever really talked about rin much but god i love how you write him so much i csnt think of anyone tnst writes the brothers as well as you im jsut.. oh my god. i love the way you emphasize the tone they’re using but it’s done in such a smooth way idk how to explain it but i hope you get what i mean 🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♀️ “rindous voice was sharper than it ever had been with you” and “help us understand, we want to understand” give me a moment i’m going to sob i csnt do this rn. he sounds so desperate and so fed up at the same time and idk if that’s what you were going for but it completely changed the mood for the entire past bit and made it so much more emotional (to me at least 🤭) it’s just so heartbreaking i had to stop AGAIN you can’t keep doing this to me cat i’m going to cry soon. the scene where rindou and yn were arguing and when she mentioned her uncle yk the bit, every single one of yns dialogues ended so abruptly because rindou cut her off every single time and oh my god… i cannot do this it’s far too late for this why would you do that. it adds to the mood but also the pacing i said this last time but holy fuck your pacing is absolutely amazing reading your works is always just the best because you know how to set a mood, and how to make sure it matches the pace and it just goes together so well if that makes sense i can’t find the words atm but whatever. both yn and rindou were so desperate in that scene but their desperation was written in different ways and i csmt even begin to find the words to tell you how fucking impressive tnst is?? you wrote?? two desperate people??? arguing??? but both of them??? we’re desperate in completely different ways??? OH TKDJISNAISHISZ i absolutely admire the little details in your writing i csnt fo this. before i move on from characters and thei developments (i barely wroye ab the development im sorry sob 💔💔💔💔 but jsut know tnst i haven’t read any pieces, in any fandom, that had character development as good as yours, i’ll talk ab it next time tho 💗🫶🏼) i said i was also going to mention the differences in rsn and rindous way of speech. i already said ran has a sharper and more firm and asserting tone, whereas rindou is a lot more soft spoken (especially w yn) and not as assertive as ran is. alone it’s already great but seeing you wriye them both TOGETHER AND reversing their roles is nothing short of impressive i’m absolute and completely in awe of your understanding of them and, not just their separate personalities, but also their personalities TOGETHER and with yn.

anyways moving on !! i wanted to mention your use of analogies involving the sky and weight. it’s repeated in many chapters and in different ways based on the context, but it’s so??? effective?? like it adds so much to the story but also to our understanding of the characters ESPECIALLY yn seeing as it is used on her the most i’ve noticed. i’ll never stop talking ab how much i love that you didn’t just forget about yn but you continue to build and develop her ever chapter it’s so refreshing i love it.

i won’t speak about pacing on its own because i think that i mentioned it a lot in the other bits but AAGIN YOUR USE OF REPETITION IS SO SOOSOSOSOS BEAUTIFUL and well placed and just genuinely perfect to me. it says eitjer slows everythint down or speeds it up or does both and makes me dizzy (in a good way 💗💗) but either way it’s so perfect, especially here with the repetition AND the bold font to emphasize certain phrases. it doesn’t just emphasize it, it changes the tone and has you reading the repeated phrase differently snd it changes so much if you get what i mean. speaking of repetition actuslly, the sky thing isn’t the only thing you repeat in chapters,, the paragraph about how her uncle said smth sb jump starting and all that you knwo the one, everytime you repeat something ESPECIALLY IF ITD IN ANOTJER CHAOTER, it jsut adds so much to it like the way i read it, it almost sounds like she’s trying to remind herself and using tnst as justification for her actions so the guilt doesn’t get to her snd tnst desperation is fucking doubled everytime its repeated THIS MIGJG NOT MSKE SENSE BC ITS LIGERSLLY 4 AM HERE BUJT WHSTEVER ITS OKAY 🤭🤭

last thing !! the way you subtly mention characters is so cool like, izana was barely mentioned in tnst one chapter. all you said was his hair was white and his eyes were purple and then boom he ends up being one of the most impoetstn characters for both yn and the entire stories development. you briefly mentioned mikey in a similar way at one point as well and it’s been fucking my head up bc i’m trying to figure out if ur doing it again cat please stop playing with my head i am gonna pass out 🙏🙏 ALSO hanma bring mentioned at the end of this chapter made me giggle a little bit bc k hate him but i don’t but i really do but i love the way you write him and i want him to come back im waiting on hanma to make an appearance so i can actuslly talk ab him cuz i love the sys you write him. omg the analogies with the sky/atlas is some of my favorite parts to add in there bc she rlly does feel like the whole weight of the world is on her shoulder, and her and izana had been so big on different types of mythologies that thinking back to it and relating the pressure on her to myths that they had talked about is honestly kind of a comfort for her, if it makes sense.

AND YES omg the repetition with the mention of the uncle is 100% her trying to (1) justify to herself what she was doing and (2) convince herself that it was the only viable choice.

kakucho swiftly lead mikey out of the room whilst shooting down any person running in

with that the two had the time of their lives.. minus kakucho, sanzu was going crazy on his men and if you glanced quickly, you wouldn't notice how hard sanzu was on his men

there were times that sanzu might've just played all of them and kick their teeth out instead of doing warmups with them but kakucho's a lot more responsible while sanzu was respected in fear, everyone respected kakucho because of his strength and level headed behaviour

the division each took turn with kakucho, sparring with one another eventhough it might've taken a whole day because he wanted to see how capable they are without dreading that their lives would be in danger if he took his eyes off one of his men

let's just say some of them were really aggresive

while kakucho would applaud them for this to be absolute beasts in beating the hell of out of him in the session, he still tasted spite from getting pushed back and forth but he kept cool and thought this as a process for his patience

by the end of the day, everything's dismissed and sanzu would look at him with a toothy smirk because of how much damage he endured

sanzu calls kakucho reckless as he spits at him to clamp his mouth shut before a gun goes in it as bruises and scratches were on his face, the same with sanzu who liked the pain and took a while to patch up

into story telling games, or rpg like legend of zelda or final fantasy. probably has like 150 hours on ocarina of time after only one month of playing it. grinds like crazy, and does all of the side quests. has several timestamps cause he wants to go back and choose different routes. if a game has multiple endings, he can and will get all endings. prefers gaming on console, but will play pc games if he feels like it.

baji —

someone take the controller away from him. he’s moderately decent skill wise, but baji’s the type of gamer to rage; whether something goes wrong on his end or because of another teammate. almost threw his controller at the tv when mikey used his ult to blast him off the platform while playing smash. he yells a lot and sometimes makes his own sound effects. plays both pc and console. chifuyu made him play phasmophobia once in the dark, and it ended with chifuyu’s monitor getting a giant crack in it.

mitsuya —

he’s a handheld console gamer. plays stuff like super mario world or pokemon on his ds. likes the handheld consoles cause it’s convenient for his sisters to play their games on. however, out of all the toman members, i think he’d be the best at gaming in general. the one to carry the team during a 5v5. usually has to tell mikey and baji to shut up because they’re being too loud and no one can hear the game.

ran —

i’ve said it once and i’ll say it again, ran sucks at any and all video games, but for some reason, he still likes to play them. has died in creative mode several times. despite being absolutely trash at most games, he does have incredible luck at times. played genshin once and pulled a rare character without even realizing it (cause you know, not like he actually cares). there have been times while playing smash bros with rindou that he’s won, solely because rindou couldn’t make his character jump fast enough back onto the platform, so he died.

idk why, but i think he’s a phone gamer lmao. likes to play candy crush and cookie run. likes to play genshin too, but usually gives up after fifteen minutes and opens up word search or something. gaming to him is something like a passtime more than something to do for leisure. not a great gamer, but he’s not terribly bad either. his favorite mobile game was flappy bird, and he was kinda sad it was taken off the app store. really good at those music rhythm games.

koko —

this man excels at games like animal crossing and stardew valley. knows how to make money in the game, and knows how to use it to upgrade his home and tools to the absolute best. his animal crossing world is amazing; probably has several characters on his island. doesn’t play for leisure, he just wants to know how much money he can get until he finally gets tired of the game.

sanzu —
