oks , enough abt michael , what r some of ur raphael hcs ?

Alrighty, enough Mikey spam lol. I'm glad you asked!

I have a couple big headcanons with him- this is probably going to turn into another character analysis post, lol. I'm probably going to separate these into their own posts, too. Here I go:

Raphael was as much of a dick as he was to the brothers because he was jealous.

Raphael heavily admires Lucifer- even after the fall, so imagine how much he must have idolized him before. Meanwhile, Lucifer focused all his attention on his six "favorites". Simeon has confirmed this much, that Lucifer always had a soft spot for the brothers(+Lilith) in a way that other angels couldn't rival.

So, here Raphael was. He was trying his best to be the model angel, following and enforcing the rules to a T while bending over backwards to not only meet but exceed his older brothers' demands. For christ's sake, he was the youngest angel to ever become a Seraph- which is clearly one hell of an accomplishment. And yet, Lucifer never seemed to notice. Lucifer and Raphael's relationship remained rocky, all the while Lucifer pampered and adored the more "problematic" angels.

Raphael did everything right- and yet he still watched all of Lucifer's affection and attention go to the troublemakers instead of him. Hell, Lucifer would even side with Mammon to go argue with him. That had to hurt.

I think that's about as good a reason as any to resent the brothers. Especially Mammon, Lucifer's favorite and the one Raphael seems most trigger-happy with.

Now, next one's the really long one. The one that's really several headcanons wrapped in a trenchcoat, much like the condition it addresses. Here we go:

Raphael is autistic.

Now, I could leave it at that and a lot of the other autistic people here would know what I mean. I could even just give you the laundry list of symptoms he displays. But I think this actually means a lot for his character, so I'm going to go in depth with a few points.

Sensory Issues: Hyposensitivity

When it comes to sensory issues, the first thing I have to acknowledge is his sense of taste. Raphael has a hyposensitivity to taste- meaning he perceives taste to a significantly lesser degree to most people. This is clear when he consumes Solomon's food without being disgusted at the taste- as well as several other occurrences of weird taste, like absolutely dousing his sandwich in Hell's hottest hot sauce.

But it isn't just that he doesn't perceive the taste- he actively enjoys it, moreso than other foods. I think this is because, with his dulled sense of taste, "normal" foods taste bland to him. Something to the degree of Solomon's cooking is the only thing powerful enough to give him the kind of sensory feedback most of us get from "normal" food. Which is why he enjoys it.

I don't think it's just taste that he's hyposensitive to, either. He also seems to have a very limited sense of pain. In Season 4, Raphael is seen accidentally catching his hand on fire- and not even noticing until somebody else pointed it out to him, at which point he simply described it as "hot". I'm sorry, having your hand on fire isn't just "hot" like a summer day, it's searing agonizing pain. The fact that he was this nonchalant about it, when we've seen other nonhumans like Mammon respond to pain perfectly normally, says something. I think Raphael's lack of pain perception could also contribute to how violent he is- if he doesn't feel pain the same way we do, he might not fully understand the weight of his harsh punishments. What he'd consider the equivalent of slapping someone's wrist with a ruler could be literally stabbing someone, we don't know.

Sensory Issues: Hypersensitivity

This one is going to be shorter than the others, because I really don't have as much evidence for it nor as much to say about it. But I do suspect Raphael to be hypersensitive to sound. Again in Season 4, when MC was looking for Raphael, the first thing Lucifer told them was to look for the quietest place around. While a lot of people prefer quiet, how on-the-nose Lucifer was with this combined with Raphael's more obvious autistic traits makes me suspect he might be hypersensitive to sound.

Sensory Issues: Visual Processing

Raphael, like many autistic people, seems to be a very visually-oriented person. This was highlighted multiple times in the Devilgram "Raphael's Welcome". The first time it was shown was when Raphael refused to eat food Lucifer recommended due to how it looked. This is the same angel that eats Solomon's cooking with absolutely no issue, and yet gave a hard no to anything Lucifer offered him because it looked a little funny. His priorities are way out of wack. Visuals seem to be a very powerful influence over how Raphael thinks and feels.

The next time Raphael's visual fixation was brought up in the Devilgram was when he entered Majolish. The first thing he did was start looking at all the clothing up close and pointing out details about how they were stitched, the quality of the clothing, etc- to which Lucifer remarked that Raphael has always had an eye for detail. While Raphael is oblivious to or actively avoids other types of sensory input, visuals seem to be very important to him and how he understands the world.

Communication Deficit: Social Cues

You know it's bad when Mammon tells you to read the room.

Honestly, I feel like that should be all I have to say. But you know what, I'll go on.

Raphael has repeatedly shown that he has very little understanding of social cues. He's somehow made it this far without catching onto the fact that everyone is terrified of Solomon's cooking, for example. He also once compared Satan to Lucifer after literally everyone in the room tried to warn him not to.

Raphael doesn't even seem to be aware of his own social cues and the impressions he gives off. When Diavolo announced that he'd be working with Thirteen, Raphael scowled and shook his head- only to seem genuinely surprised when Thirteen noticed this and took offense to his reaction, telling her that he "didn't say anything".

His understanding of social cues is... not very good. To say the least.

Communication Deficit: Emotional Expression

One of the first things we learn about Raphael is that he's incredibly difficult to read. It's not hard to see why other characters feel this way- the majority of the time, he has a completely blank expression. Hell, one time he flat-out said he was having fun and didn't even smile about it.

Smiles in general seem to be excessively rare with him, and it's often made a big deal of when he does.

Despite his lack of expression, he doesn't seem as emotionless as people portray him as. According to Simeon, he's actually "pretty intense". Even in the screenshot above, he's clearly feeling something, he just isn't showing it in the way a typical person would expect. He gives all the hallmarks of someone with very strong emotions but an inability to translate them to others- something very strongly associated with autism.

Communication Deficit: Speech

One of the other things we were told about Raphael before we met him is that he's incredibly quiet- to the point where others, including Luke, have difficulty understanding him as a person. Reading through the lessons, he has "..." dialogue significantly more than any other character. It's rare the game goes out of its way to include silent dialogue, and usually when it does it's in a very serious situation where it's meant to be emotionally impactful. This isn't the case with Raphael. He does this regularly, in casual personal interactions, and even to the point where it causes miscommunications with others.

An example I can think of off the top of my head is when he went to clean up a mess Thirteen created with her spiderweb bazooka. He left in the middle of a conversation to go do so, without giving any verbal acknowledgement of what it was he was doing, leading to Lucifer assuming he was goofing off and scolding him. Normally someone would say something along the lines of "we should clean that up", or "let me go clean that up real quick", or "I'm going to go clean that up", etc. Most people would say something like that without even thinking. But Raphael just gave his usual "...", and that socially inappropriate silence lead to a clear misunderstanding with Lucifer.

"Quiet" to the point of impeding on one's ability to connect with and communicate intent to others isn't normal, and it makes me wonder if he may be partially nonverbal.

Communication Deficit: Tact

Raphael is... not tactful. At all. He's incredibly blunt, and even harsh with pretty much everyone. It's so constant and grating that angel Lucifer stated that he actively avoids Raphael.

Given his other very clear social difficulties, I have to wonder just how much of Raphael's rude language is actual harmful intent and how much of it is just that he's awful with tact. I wonder how much he really meant all the dickish things he's said to the brothers.

It certainly puts his character in a different perspective. As does a lot of this. Which is why I wanted to elaborate this far on all of it instead of just throwing out autism symptoms and giving him an "I'm autistic and I think he is too" seal of approval. His character starts making a lot more sense when you look at it through this lens, and it branches off into several different headcanons I have about him.

And now, of course, the obligatory Michael comment of the day. I'm sorry, you know me by now, I couldn't not.

I think Michael is autistic too, and this ties directly into Raphael. It's said in Raphael's introductory video that he's "the only one who truly understands Michael". If Raphael is autistic, and he and Michael are on the same wavelength so to speak, it would make sense that Michael is too. I think they're on opposite sides of the spectrum- Raphael is the cold/distant/withdrawn, deadpan, hyposensitive, partially-nonverbal autistic while Michael will turn out to be the hyperactive, overexpressive, talks-your-ears-off-about-special-interests, way too in-your-face due to lack of social cues, sensory-seeking autistic. Two sides of the same coin. They'd both play into the double-empathy theory, that autism miscommunications are due to a mismatch in autistic-neurotypical communication methods and that two autistic individuals can generally communicate just fine.

Now, if you want some casual, less analysis-heavy headcanons, just lmk. Got plenty of those too, though some of them take the autism headcanon as a base!

How the Curtis Gang and Shepard Brothers Flirt Hc's:

Curly Shepard:

° He flirts by being mean to you because Curly's a little shit lmaoo! He's that guy that'll get under your skin so you talk to him. I'm pretty sure at first y'all couldn't stand each other.

° He tries to be smooth, but he's not the brainiest so the lines he practiced either sound corny or dirty ngl. He did get most of them from Tim or his gang members after all. Curly is a bit of a copycat in that sense, but he's original in some stupidity he pulls. He's actually incredibly funny, with a quirky sense of smoothness. 

° Deffo tried flirting with you by propping his foot on a stool, missed and face planted lmaoo. You never let him live it down, but it got him a date with you because he made you laugh a lot. So in the end, Curly's stupidity and clumsiness won! (I say that affectionately ofc! We Stan Curly Shepard on this blog.)

° He thinks flirting is also doing something that he knows is gonna get him into trouble right in front of you. Curly's a bit of a show off, isn't he? Nevermind, there's entertainment at all times in your budding relationship. Curly doesn't like to be serious too often, so you'll be in for lots of fun and trouble making!

Dallas Winston:

° Omfg is he a bastard! Flirting with Dallas is one wild ass ride. The president of the, "I Like You So I'm Gonna Be Mean to You Club". The bigger the reaction you give him, the better. And boy will he get it because he genuinely does have a whole arsenal of things. He'll get dirty real fast, though that's more at the start.

° He's very touchy and will sling his arm around your shoulders, a hand in your back pocket… He shows interest. Dallas is not shy!

° His eyes fall to your lips, filled with mischief and interest. An absolute tease when he leans in just a little closer, and when you're ready to kiss him, he turns away smoothly at the last second. All just to rile you up because he likes 'em feisty!

° Dirty jokes galore! He's got incredibly smooth as hell pickup lines too. When he wants to be, he can make a good impression.

Darry Curtis:

° Darry is surprisingly smooth when he wants to be. People are stunned because they don't see it coming as it's not on display often. His grumpiness disappears, replaced by a cheerful charm and smoothed features. Not an ounce of stress on his face. He's inclined to laugh more. He's still got the charm! Oh and his smile is to die for!

° He's old school and very gentlemanly. He wants to make a good impression even if you've been married for decades! Darry enjoys taking care of the one he's interested in. That'll never go away, so flirting can almost come in the form of checking up on you too. 

° Darry pulls out all of the romantic stops that he can. Expect lots of flowers and stuff - Soda had to help him arrange it all because he's so damn busy, but his intentions were definitely there. No one can deny that. He even gave Sodapop strict orders, otherwise he'd have beaten the tar outta him because Soda gets distracted easily. (Obviously that last bit isn't me being totally serious.)

° Lots of eye contact and smiling. He's got a beautiful smile - and yes, I know I mentioned that again. Darry shows interest through looking into your eyes, having a gentle arm around your shoulders and just being the gentleman that he is.

Johnny Cade:

° He's clumsy and it can be insanely challenging to pick up when he's flirting. However, he has more colour to his face than what's normal. He's a glowing tomato! 

° Johnny is genuinely interested and will say the most sincere compliments to you when he's worked up the courage to do so. I feel he would stammer a lot, but he means what he says. You can tell, and it makes you have an explosion of butterflies in your belly.

° Pda isn't his thing really. Touch in of itself can be challenging to experience, but he does try to hold your hand out in public. He always sticks by you the closest, so much so that you can practically feel his body heat. Don't take offense to this, he's way more affectionate when it's just you two. It's just that all these curious eyes on you both freaks him out.

° He goes out of his way to help you with things, even if he's not really good at it. It's his way of showing you he cares about you. Johnny wants to feel like he's worth something, and how he does this is by getting his hands a little dirty for you. It leads to a lot of wholesome or even funny moments. The more he does this without you protesting, the more comfortable he gets around you.

Ponyboy Curtis:

° He's clumsy too in his approach. He blushes sm but he tries to be flirty. He fails, but not without you giggling. He gets real mopey, but adores your sudden affection. Pony is just embarrassed.

° He's kind, helping you with any of your school work as he enjoys spending time with you. Gets all dreamy eyed when you're there, and you'll catch him daydreaming - even when you're talking. He just sorta gets lost, guys. Earth to Pony!

° Compliments you sincerely and smiles a lot more. Suggests that you guys go see a movie together. This is a huge step, because as we know, Ponyboy doesn't like watching movies with other people. However, he feels comfortable with you, knowing you won't intrude in his mental space by gratingly talking through said movie.

° Ponyboy shares things with you that he never shares with anyone like movies, books, sunsets, etc. If he's talking passionately about something to you then it's a good sign. He loves listening to your passions too. He can wrap his head around a lot of different topics all at once. All I can see now is Ponyboy just swooning over you silently with a whimsical sigh as you chat about your latest interest. Absolutely wholesome!

Sodapop Curtis:

° Sodapop flirts to the max with you! He makes it very obvious that he's into you whilst also remaining cool and smooth. He's got a knack for sweeping you off your feet, it feels like you're in a romance movie!

° Sometimes it can be challenging to see when he's interested or just flirting for the fun of it. The lines can be blurred because of how friendly he is. Yet do not let that deter you. When Sodapop is seriously interested, you can tell with the sparkle in those gorgeous, dreamy eyes of his.

° He gets your number with a smooth pick up line! He's also touchy since his love language is touch. Not inappropriately of course, but what you're comfortable with: Holding hands, his hand in your back pocket, an arm over your shoulder, etc. Sodapop is drawn to you like a fly is drawn to honey, but not obsessively. He knows the balance and picks up quickly what you are and aren't comfortable with.

° Asks you out or takes you to a party. His entire attention is on you. He wants to show people how much fun y'all are having. Sodapop is very direct, but he can also be coy. He likes a bit of a chase, but he carries himself with sweet gestures, yet flirtatious advances. He knows how to have you swooning over him in seconds.

Steve Randle:

° Oh boy, you're not prepared for Steve Randle. He's smooth asf and that wise cracking attitude either grates on your last nerves or makes you think he's slick enough to date. There's no in between, but whether you hate him or not at first, it doesn't matter, he somehow gets you to be fond of him soon.

° Soda is his wingman for sure, helping him feel better about himself. He gasses him up to you, which makes him feel less nervous about asking you out. He wants to make a good impression. Besides, Sodapop helps ease your nerves too! The bridge that causes you both to meet.

° Steve is more physical. He likes to have a hand on you at all times. He isn't shy at all, but he tows the line of respect very well. Only gets more dirty if you're into that kinda thing lmaoo.

° He's the type to wink at you and shit lol. It's actually not embarrassing or cheesy at all. Sometimes you'll look up from across the room at a party and he's half listening to Soda while he's getting your drinks. You catch him looking at you with those pretty blue eyes and he just winks in a way that makes your heart throb. You have to look away. It only makes him approach you, whispering, "Whatchu hidin' those pretty eyes from me for?" right into your ear as he hands you your drink.

Tim Shepard:

° He fights Dallas for the presidential spot of the "I Like You So I'm Gonna Be Mean to You Club" lmaoo. However he has a lot of charm. His handsomeness also helps. He's a ladies man after all! Tim is swooned after by many women, but he's got his eyes set on you.

° Once again, physical touch and flirty comments galore! It's the one time Tim is the most talkative. He is adventurous, pulling you in tow. He's eager on the inside, but smooth and mysterious on the outside. Everything you say and do he notices, he just might not make it apparent.

° Really observant so he knows quite quickly how to get you into his good graces. It's like a gift he has. He also is the type to tease you a little mercilessly when you've done something cute or whatever. He can't help it. Any excuse to get you even a little embarrassed without outright humiliating you gets a kick out of him. He enjoys it when you smack him playfully on the arm when he's made a dirty joke, because you're relaxed.

° Tim is the type to walk or drive you home. It's sort of sweet, but he just says he's going in that direction anyway lol. He usually isn't. He's a protective boyfriend, and wouldn't be able to forgive himself if he let you run off on your own and you got jumped. He's adamant about it too, and when he can't, he gets someone he trusts from his gang to walk you home.

Two-bit Matthews:

° Two does what he does best, which is to make you laugh. He loves to see and hear you smile and laugh. Bonus points if you're crying and wheezing! He enjoys someone that can have easy banter with. So the more that you poke fun back at him, the more he's gonna be into you.

° He's such a dork with his cheesy pickup lines. He has no shame, people! Two has the corniest jokes and lines, they make you roll your eyes and shake your head. He's so much fun to be around, because one moment you could be talking, the next you're swing dancing like no tomorrow! Absolute chaotic spontaneity.

° Puts up the charm, loving how you keep up with him. He's witty and likes witty people too! Two enjoys your sense of humour - even if it's a little quirky. He can do quirky without any trouble, just be warned he's got a dirty mouth, especially when drunk. So dirty jokes are definitely on the menu.

° Physically affectionate to the point where he may not get that he's going a bit overboard. He's not out to make you uncomfortable, but being boozed up all the time and not taking things so seriously can get in the way. But nothing funny I promise. Besides, I think Two-bit just likes to be around you so much anyway.

1- Favourite Character:

I can easily tell you that my top five would be Raven, Wing, Shelby, Ms Leon, and the Colonel.

I'll discredit the last two simply because of their actual page time. To me, their characters are built up mostly of my own headcanons/headcanon dynamics.

Now, I mean this only in the broadest of ways. But Wing and Raven are kind of the same character. Both are unfailingly loyal to those they care about, both are "second" to said person they care about- Otto and Dr Nero respectively-, both have the same skill set, both come off as cold... I obviously know they have differences, but put it this way: Overlord Protocol would have been much less interesting if Otto and Wing had swapped places. Sure, we have the Raven and escaped-Wing section of Rogue, but it is significantly shorter than OP's Raven-Otto duo. So, between these two, I'll choose Raven.

That leaves Raven and Shelby. Rationally, I cannot choose. But I talk about Raven more on here, so there's probably a subconscious favouritism at play there.

7- Rare headcanon that you hate:

Considering the size of the fandom, I don't think there's any really "rare" hcs (although I'd love to hear them if there are). There's the obvious old Nero x Raven hc, but that is, as I said, old. Besides that, I don't think I've seen anything I actively hate.

So, for this, I'm using literally anything that anybody has ever said about a character that isn't explicitly written. And within this group, I'm including the one and only Mr Walden. Apparently, somebody once asked him what Nero's degree is in, to which he replied dance. And, I'm sorry, but no. Just no. It doesn't fit him at all.

12- Favourite fanfiction trope:

In general? I like the found family dynamic within some kind of action (doesn't have to be all large scale, grenades and guns). But also. Make them suffer. Test how far they can really trust each other. Put a traitor in their midst. Kill some of them off for the sadistic fun of it.

H.I.V.E. specific? Anything with a teacher and student getting, for lack of better phrasing, closer. Give me that Otto-Raven sibling energy. Give me the Wing-Raven mentor/mentee dynamic. I've seen Laura-Raven, Shelby-Nero, and "mixed" and loved them as well, but they were one-offs, as far as I know. Alongside this, I also love staff-centric fics.

But I'll tell you what I haven't seen yet that I want to. It's Raven-Shelby (gee, I wonder why). But seriously. There was an entire paragraph(?) in Dreadnought in which Shelby was basically like "that woman is actually really so cool and I lowkey want to be her" and then, over the course of the series, she starts getting glimpses as to Why Raven is like That. Additionally, both used to be thieves, both are similar in psyche enough to have literal nightmares about the death of a loved one (OP again/ Aftershock). But, in other ways, they couldn't be more different. Tell me there's no fic potential in that, I dare you.

hi i saw your young lemon and tagerine hcs post. i have soso much to say about them i want to talk about them !!!!!!!!!

its my favorite thing to think about when it comes to lemon and tangerine because it could be so many different things. obviously they had a rough childhood so like,, what happened??

i have like a whole essay i wrote as a reblog to the post abt my hc of them as teens/young adults but now i feel like its too long and im too scared to post it tbh

but heres some shorter hcs i have for them !!!

Lemon is the voice of reason between them. Emotionally, he's more mature and he is very calming, helping Tangerine keep control of his emotions and temper. On the other hand, Tangerine is physically fiercely protective of his brother.

I think Lemon had a phase where he tried to drop all his 'childish' interests, like Thomas. The one who brought him back to himself was Tangerine. He was expecting to enjoy his brother not always talking about and watching kids' shows, but Lemon got super serious and tried to focus on their job---and it was like most of his brother died. He was so serious and always trying to get things done, he was like Tangerine, and to his own surprise, Tangerine couldn't stand that because that wasn't his brother. Tangerine forced him to start watching Thomas again

Tangerine has a problem with getting paranoid at night. It was worse when they were young adults just starting to live on their own, and so he would only fall asleep if he was right next to Lemon on the sofa when his brother was watching Thomas on the TV. The familiar background noise and the feeling of his brother being right beside him was the only thing that could calm his mind enough to sleep. As long as he was on the sofa with Lemon, he would be fine, but more often than not he just slept on his shoulder. Lemon was just happy to help his brother, and also happy that helping his brother involved watching Thomas

I have more, I've got like 30 fanfic wips of them in that era so I have a lot of ideas, but these are the ones I could think of atm !! i hope you're ok with me sending an ask like this if not I'm sorry

FIRST OF ALL, thank you anon for this message and I would loooove to read all your wips and hcs and everything, so please do it and tag me if you post them, I need some serotonin so just know you're in charge of my happiness rn. I'd love to read more about all that happened in their upbringing because they're fun and wild and crazy sometimes but im sure there was a lot of suffering and angst and I love angst SO.

I absolutely agree that Lemon is the voice of reason between them while Tangerine is more impulsive and physical??? idk if it makes sense. but Lemon counts to 10 or maybe 6 before acting on something. Tangerine tries Very Hard.

and yes on the surface it looks like Tangerine mocks Lemon for Thomas the tank engine but deep down it soothes him too and gives him a sense of security. knowing that Thomas is there and therefore Lemon is there, just being Lemon and being his brother. as always. they're each other's lighthouse/anchor/person

ALSO WHAT ABOUT MOMO??? i completely forgot!!!! I think they meet/start to be in contact right in these initial years..

i honestly just love these two and i like to pretend theyre just fine and alive and thriving!!

ace trappola.

♡ okay, ace isn't the most patient type, so he won't understand some of your problems and why you're acting so shy. like, why are you always so quiet, come on, just say what's on your mind! but he loves you, he just.. doesn't understand you sometimes. he wishes you could be more confident, because you really are a wonderful person.

♡ if you're having trouble with saying something, like you're too scared or shy, he will say it for you. ace does have a sharp tongue tho, so he will most likely say a more rude version of what you wanted to say. he doesn't care much about it, he thinks that people should hear your opinion and it doesn't matter in which form they hear it.

♡ if anyone says something mean and tries to make fun of you, ace will do anything to protect you. yes, he makes jokes about you being too shy sometimes, but he does it out of love, he doesn't want to actually hurt you with his words. but if someone else does it, ace will put up a fight and make those people get what they deserve.

♡ even though ace says that you need to be more confident, he does like this soft personality of yours. it's actually pretty calming to be around you and he just thinks that you look adorable when you're too shy to say something like "i love you too" or "thank you". and you two complement each other very well, ace with his mischievous personality and you with your soft personality.

deuce spade.

♡ he's very understanding and he always asks if you're comfortable with anything, like a form of affection or going to a more crowded place. he just wants you to feel safe!! if he does anything wrong, he wants you to tell him!

♡ similar to ace, NO ONE can say ANYTHING bad about you if deuce is around. he's very protective and he can't let people make fun of you just because you're more quiet and shy than them. he may go a little too far, but he just loves you a lot and he gets very angry when he hears someone laughing at your awkwardness.

♡ he doesn't mind you being not much of a talkative person. he does get a little confused sometimes, because he may think that you're angry at him or you don't want to talk to him, but once you assure him that it's not like that, he's fine. but if you want to talk, he's always happy to do that!

♡ your dynamic is really cute, deuce is very caring and he's always glad to help you with anything and you don't let deuce get too violent and you help him to calm down. cater often comments on it, saying how cute you two are and that you two are a perfect couple.

jack howl.

♡ he's probably THE most protective boyfriend out of all of them. you always have to tell him something like "no, jack, i'm fine, you don't have to worry about me" or "jack, leave this person alone, they didn't do anything bad". but you're just so?? soft?? and cute?? and precious?? he has to protect you!!

♡ well, if you don't want jack to glare at every single person that talks to you, he will teach you how to protect yourself just in case. if you're not that strong physically, he will help you to protect yourself with words, like what to say in case someone talks bad things about you. it can also help you to become more confident!

♡ it's fine if you're a quiet type, it's actually easier for him this way. you two don't have to say a word, you spend time together and still have fun. if you want to talk about something, he will listen and if you have a problem, you two can think of a solution together.

epel felmier.

♡ you two get along very well and you felt a connection between both of you even before you started dating. and you also didn't judge epel when he showed you his more rude and aggressive side, which made you two become even closer.

♡ epel doesn't want to offend you at all, but he's just.. he's so happy that he's not the most awkward one in this dynamic. he can show you how strong and cool he actually is! he just wants you to be proud of him and him being your boyfriend!

♡ epel is totally okay with being the one who does most of the talking and people notice that he becomes more assertive around you. and it's actually quite adorable, how epel tries to protect you and impress you. and you're thankful to him for understanding how hard it is for you to talk, even though it's supposed to be so easy to do.

sebek zigvolt.

♡ oh wow, you two are totally opposite. sebek is LOUD and you're just this very shy and quiet person, and some people just can't understand how you two can be together. it did take some time for you to get used to sebek's voice, and when he noticed that you get scared because of how loud his voice is, he actually started speaking more quiet around you. and if he's doing something like that for you, he definitely loves you a lot!

♡ you two literally have the "excuse me, they asked for no pickles" dynamic. if you need to say anything, but you're too shy, just let sebek know. he will say it for you, like ace, and he will also do it in a much more aggressive form than you wanted it to be. but he does it because he loves you and because his human deserves to be heard!

♡ lilia loves to point out how soft sebek becomes around you and that he's ready to do anything to help you feel more safe and comfortable. sebek tells him to stop and that it's not like that, and you just smile because you know that lilia's right. sebek has changed a lot thanks to you.

♡ sebek actually feels kind of guilty when you two start dating and he remembers how he used to call you "a weak and useless human" like most of the other students. he even started to admire your personality and he knows that you're much stronger than he thought at first. but he still thinks that you could use some confidence.

Zarina X Adam: Better together

"Did you book the flight?"

The question left Zarina’s lips as soon as she answered the call, knowing full well the person on the other end wasn’t expecting needless pleasantries.

"Yes, I should arrive in Mangalore on Thursday evening," Adam replied without missing a beat.

"Neat,” Zarina said, already starting to plan their next step. “I'll wait for you in town and we can take the ship to the islands together. Unless…"

Maybe she could head out in advance; scout out the place, do a little groundwork, ask some of the locals...

"Don't do anything reckless," Adam chastised.

Zarina almost laughed. He knew her too well.

"I didn't say anything," she tried.

"You're not going on your own,” Adam said sternly, before his voice softened. “We don't know what's waiting for us on Dyer island. Let's just stick to the plan."

"Yeah," Zarina admitted. "You're right. God, I just—I need to know—"

"I know," Adam said. "Me too."

Zarina let out a breath and felt some of the tension in her shoulders release. Of course Adam knew; he knew better than anyone what she was going through. The nightmares, the hundreds of questions that had no answers—

And the need to make sure what happened to them never happened to anyone else.

"You don't have to come, you know," she felt the need to mention.

"And you don't have to keep reminding me," Adam shot back, his voice teasing. "You're not the only one who is curious."

And just like Adam understood her, Zarina understood him. She sure as hell couldn't have gone back to a 9-to-5 job and a normal life after what happened to them, so it was no surprise that Adam didn’t either. After all, his hunger for knowledge was exactly what drew her to him in the first place.

"Sorry," she said. "I've never worked a case with someone else before."

It was strange, having to account for someone other than herself. Adam had struggled to get his personal documents in order after the Japanese authorities had presumed him dead. While Adam struggled with endless paperwork to get a new passport, it had taken all of Zarina’s self-restraint not to fly out to India to investigate Dyer island on her own.

"Did you read the files I sent you?" Adam asked, once again proving that she made the right decision in partnering with him for the case.

"Only half before you called, I still need—" Zarina paused, glancing at the clock on her motel wall. "Shit, that'll have to be later. I need to pick up some stuff for the camera," she realized, already reaching for her jacket.

"There wasn't much except the trade records of substances I assume were for the lab," Adam said. "It seemed to be most active around 1840, which would correspond to the first opium war.”

"There's gotta be something shady there, why else would they try to keep people out so bad," Zarina said, balancing her phone between her shoulder and cheek while she shrugged on the jacket. "Anyway, I'll call you when I land tomorrow—"

"Oh, and one more thing," Adam interrupted.

"Yeah?" Zarina said absent-mindedly, grabbing her keys.

"I love you."

Zarina stopped in her tracks. A smile spread on her face, the sweet words a much needed reminder of just why she was doing this. Being so focused on the practicalities and the mission, she sometimes forgot just how lucky she was to be doing this together with Adam.

"I love you too," she said while leaning against the wall; the camera could wait for a few minutes. "It's weird not having you around."

"Being stuck in eternity together did have its upsides, I suppose," Adam said, and even though she couldn't see him, Zarina could hear the smile in his voice. "A few weeks have never felt so long."

Three weeks apart; three weeks since their escape from the Entity, three weeks of trying and failing to adjust back to normal life. Instead of celebrating their reclaimed freedom or going on a well-deserved vacation like she'd heard some of their friends do, Zarina and Adam were diving right back into potential danger.

But then again, she always knew they were different from the others.

"I can't wait to see you again," Zarina said.

She missed Adam. It felt like a piece of her was gone when he wasn't by her side, like he'd been for the worst years of her life. She missed his gentle touches, his carefully thought out words and his endless compassion.

“I’ve missed you,” she simply added, afraid that saying too much would make the distance between them feel unbearable.

“I’ve missed you too,” Adam said. “So much more than I could have ever imagined.”

Zarina smiled to herself. It didn’t matter what difficulties or dangers they faced; as long as they were together, she knew they could overcome anything.
