Title: In Which We Burn Together Angst Week Day 2 Pairing:  Todomomo Rating: M Word Count:  1,900 Read on Ao3 Summary:
Todoroki Shouto has never believed in soulmates. Why should he? It didn’t work for his parents, so he doesn’t expect it to work for him, especially when he can’t even remember what his now burned off mark looks like.
Full fic under the cut! For @bnha-angst-week !! Day 2 Rain // Cold! Thank you to @its-love-u-asshole for betaing! <3
After the U.S.J. incident, it wouldn't stop raining, and everyone in Class 1-A was rattled.
Shouto tried not to think too much on it. It was a circumstance completely out of their control, and it was something they would all eventually have to deal with once they were pro heroes. Facing villains was to be their job, so really there was no need to fret over extra practice.
Shouto attempted to focus on those thoughts. However, in the back of his mind, there was a small burning feeling... He was by far one of the strongest students, thanks to his father's training, and yet... a small amount of panic had bubbled up inside of him, especially upon witnessing so many of his peers struggle.
Did he really know what he was doing?
He supposed that was the purpose of going to school; learning about how to handle situations like that. He could've trained with his father all he wanted, but a surprise villain attack would've thrown him off regardless.
Yaoyorozu Momo was also incredibly quiet after the incident. She wasn't a very talkative girl in the first place, especially during class. One of the things Shouto admired about her so greatly was how focused she often was on her studies. However, whenever the incident was brought up, she would immediately look down, her finger slipping under her tiny bracelet as she brushed her finger back and forth across her skin.
The entire class realized they weren't immortal. They could be destroyed like the fragile humans they were, and eventually they would have to face the truth; All Might wouldn't always be there to save him.
But something about the way Yaoyorozu looked truly bothered Shouto. He didn't like watching her disappear into her head, her small finger brushing over her soulmark.
It continued to rain days after the incident and Shouto grew tired of carrying his umbrella to school. The droplets of water trickled off the edges, the hood of it barely keeping him dry. Normally he enjoyed the walk to school, it gave him time to think, but now he was tired of it. He was used to having strange body temperatures, but he didn't enjoy being damp.
He let his shoes scuff against the concrete sidewalk, making his way to his father's house. The rain pattered against his black umbrella, though he could tell the bottom of his pants were already starting to soak through. Puddles formed in the dips of the sidewalk from the rain gathering for days.
He turned to the side, noting the empty park. Unsurprising, since no child wanted to play out in the rain.
But it was then he saw her; Yaoyorozu Momo, sitting on a swing. She wasn't holding an umbrella or wearing a rain jacket, and her dark hair was sopping wet, draped around her face. For a moment, Shouto wondered if it was actually her, but she was wearing the U.A. uniform and he would've recognized her pale, beautiful face anywhere.
She looked even paler sitting in the rain, her dark, wet bangs covering her eyes.
He should've kept walking, moved away from her and made his way home so he could change out of his damp pants. But something drew him to her.
"You'll get sick, Yaoyorozu-san," he said quietly, tilting his umbrella forward to cover her head. The chains of the swing blocked him from doing so completely, and the two of them half-shared the covering. Shouto felt the cold raindrops soak the back of his jacket through to his polo shirt.
"A-Ah! To-Todoroki-san." Her voice was quiet against the loud pitter-patter of the rain drops. Already she sounded hoarse, her nose slightly stuffed. "I... I didn't realize anyone walked this way."
"What are you doing?" he asked bluntly.
"I..." She bit her lip, her teeth pulling it towards her mouth. "I shouldn't bother you, Todoroki-san."
He sighed, pulling his umbrella back. Reaching up, he snapped it shut, taking a seat on the wet swing next to her. "You're not bothering me."
He didn't enjoy getting wet, but if Yaoyorozu was sitting out in the rain, he was willing to find out why.
"It's... silly..." she whispered.
"Okay," Shouto said, wanting her to tell him. His hair began to flatten against his head, raindrops rolling down his face.
"I started thinking about... the U.S.J. incident. Actually, that's not very accurate. I should say I never stopped thinking about it since it occurred," she admitted softly.
Her cheeks were slightly flushed and Shouto couldn't tell if she was embarrassed to be telling him this, or if her body was reacting to the cold rain.
"What about it?" he asked. "It seems everyone is thinking about it."
"A-Are you also... Todoroki-san?" Her dark eyes turned to look at him, the water gently rolling down her face.
"I guess..."
"You were so incredible, so... I could see if you weren't worried or concerned at all!" she said.
He didn't want to tell her practically nothing would compare to what he endured from his own father, so instead, he focused on her.
"I thought you handled yourself well."
"O-Oh!" she gasped, and turned towards the ground, pushing the swing back and forth with her heels. "I don't know about that. I'm sure I seemed collected but on the inside I was terrified. I'm still terrified. I can't handle the thoughts running through my head and I..." she trailed off. "It doesn't... seem very professional of me."
Shouto glanced down at the wet gravel beneath his feet, his swing squeaking as he moved back and forth. By now, he wasn't even focused on how wet he was getting. "No one expects you to be a professional yet," he said, wishing he could take his own advice, though his own situation was far different from hers. "And I'm sure... real heroes are... scared of things all the time."
"Really? Has your father ever told you any stories?" she asked, always eager to learn more information.
He balked at that, his swing halting with his movements. It wasn't as if he went around publicly denouncing his father, so it made sense she would ask-
"I'm... sorry?" she whispered, cutting off his thoughts. She brushed her bangs out of her eyes. "That was inappropriate to ask."
"My father... I don't... we don't..." How did one explain to someone they barely knew that they hated every part of the man who brought them into the world?
"I get it," she said, reaching across to take his hand. Her small bracelet tapped against the side of his palm. "You don't have to say any more." She squeezed his hand.
"Right..." he muttered, happy she wasn't about to push. "...Anyway... I think it's fine if you're scared. Everyone is. Even the teachers seem on edge. I think it would be weirder if you... weren't."
So he was calling himself odd. Well mostly, there was still that little voice inside of his head...
He turned his gaze towards their fingers, looking at hers wrapped around his own. Even with how wet and clammy their palms were, their hands fit nicely together. He even felt a bit warmer.
"A-Ah! Sorry!" she pulled her hand back and Shouto felt the cold rain pelting his now open palm. "I'm sorry, Todoroki-san you just... you seemed-"
"It's fine, Yaoyorozu-san. Can I... walk you home?"
"Oh gosh..." she squeaked. "Yes, I'm sorry for forcing you to sit out here in the rain. I honestly don't know what I was thinking!"
"You didn't force me to do anything," he said.
She jumped up and stared at him intensely. "You're probably freezing and your clothes are completely soaked and I can't believe you didn't say anything sooner. I'm sure you want to get home to a nice hot shower and-"
"Yaoyorozu-san, I'm fine. I can regulate my body temperature fairly easily," he said, a small chuckle slipping from his lips. "I'm more concerned about you."
"R-Right. Oh... of course," she said. "Still, being out in these wet clothes can't be fun."
"Not particularly. Not for you either." He stood back up and opened his umbrella, holding it out to her. "It probably won't help much."
"Oh," she said softly, tucking her wet hair behind her ear. "Thank you."
The two began to walk in the direction of her house, which so far was in the same direction as Shouto's. They walked silently, listening to the rain tap, tap, tap against the ground.
"Todoroki-san, maybe this is... also too personal, but if I recall correctly, you said you don't believe in soulmates." Using her free hand, she slipped a finger under the small bracelet covering her soulmark. "Can I ask why that is?"
Normally, he would’ve rolled his eyes, but he wanted to tell her. "It's a stupid concept. The idea that there's only one person in the world for me?" He clicked his tongue. "And who knows if that one person is even the right one," he said, a bite in his tone. His mother had done nothing but suffer at the hands of her soulmate. It was why...
"I see... So it's not that you don't have one?" she asked. "Y-You don't have to answer if that's too forward."
"I have one." Or rather, he had one. "I just... try not to take it into account... ever."
"I see," she said, still fidgeting with her wrist.
He wondered if maybe she didn't have one. It was rare, but supposedly it was a thing that occasionally happened. It would make sense why she was always nervously touching her wrist; she most likely wouldn't want anyone to find out.
"Why?" he asked, before he could stop the words from slipping from his lips.
"I was curious. You don't... hear a lot of people say they don't believe in this 'foolproof' system," she said softly.
"You speak as if you feel the same."
"Not... necessarily. I think it's more complex than people like Ashido-san make it out to be. First off, she's very lucky she realized Kirishima-san was her soulmate early. Sometimes it doesn't last between soulmates. My parents... they weren't each other's soulmates," she admitted. "Both of them lost their soulmates in separate villain attacks. They found each other and fell in love," she said. "So... I wonder how much it really matters. Some people take it so seriously..."
She turned to face him, stopping outside what he realized was her very large house, gated and tucked far away off the main road. "I-I apologize Todoroki-san, I know you don't enjoy talking about soulmates." She bowed her head, handing his umbrella back to him. "But I appreciate you talking to me. And knowing you and so many others are feeling the same about U.S.J.... it... made me feel better." Her lips pulled into a smile and Shouto's heart skipped a beat, his cheeks heating up at how cute her face looked like that.
He was tempted to get her to smile all the time, a new goal.
"I hope you stay dry for the rest of your evening, Yaoyorozu-san," he said, nodding to her.
"You too, Todoroki-san," she said. She bowed her head once more, and stepped inside the large gate.
Even though he was soaked, Shouto didn't hate the rest of the walk home.

A Coward's Resolve
Momo Yaoyorozu, three words; his sibling's babysitter.
Todoroki never thought he'd fall in love with anyone for that matter, but here he was in love with the girl that chooses to fold his little brothers underwear out of sheer politeness. She may be a year younger, but it doesn't stop Shouto from feeling less and less confident around her. After understanding his embarrassment was unnecessary he resolves to be more bold and express his feelings. For once it seems like the odds are in his favor.

(UN-EDITED)
Note:
Hello readers,
It's been a long time since I've been avidly in the BNHA fandom and even longer since I've actually used AO3 and Tumbr. I had published a few other todomomo works way back in the beginning of 2018 (over a year ago!!!), but I decided I no longer wish to return to that account and I wish to remain separated from that identity (?) idek if that makes sense. Anyways I was really motivated to write more Todomomo after seeing this art piece come across my feed on twitter for no reason, it was a blessing though because now I am extremely stuck in the todomomo hole again. The link to the art piece will be at the end of this note.I hope you enjoy this work and as always please give criticisms, regular comments and kudos!
*clarification: this piece was not based on the artwork, I just really enjoy it!
https://anush_arts.artstation.com/projects/ZK0G1 (if this link no longer works in the future it is a gorgeous drawing by Anush Arts of Todoroki and Momo in full color, kissing in a relaxed position on a yellow covered bed, Momo's hair is down and slightly wavy, she wears a lavender tank top while Todoroki is shirtless and in black shorts, it's nothing NSFW just really sweet because she's sitting beside him and he cradles the back of her head) @anush-arts
Now on to the story:
"Ah, Todoroki I see you're awake."
Todoroki, still half asleep, smiled deliriously at the sound of her angelic voice. He soon realized it was a little too out of place for his bedroom. His eyes shot wide open.
Yaoyorozu Momo was in his room, the gorgeous black-haired girl herself, sitting by the side of his bed in a tank top of all things.
Damn did he wish the context were different.
She made eye contact with him and winked as he sat straight up, not wanting to seem like a child.  It took him a moment to realize he wasn't wearing a shirt, because Yaoyorozu showed no reaction at all. He was thankful she didn't make him more embarrassed by becoming flustered herself, but a little part of him wished he had been more bold to her in the past to elicit that type of reaction. She hardly batted an eyelash after seeing him half naked. He opened his mouth to say something, but she shushed him with a single finger pressed to her lips, gesturing toward the sleeping child to her and his right.
If he didn't already feel emasculated enough she just had to remind him that at seventeen years old he was still sharing a room with his younger brother Natsuo, who was only four.
His parents had needed a babysitter for his siblings because a four year old boy and two year old girl aren't exactly easy to handle. Of course, stubborn Todoroki had refused to help out around the house leading them to turn to Yaoyorozu, the responsible girl who lived a block away. She was only sixteen, but the most mature person Todoroki knew by far.
She stared at his sleeping sibling fondly as she bent over to pick up the legos strewn across his floor. Todoroki watched her backside sneakily for a moment before getting up to put on some real clothes.
Todoroki had a secret desire to be more confident around girls, but it really wasn't something he'd employed on his everyday life. He opted to slip into his closet to change, but not without promising once again this act of cowardice would be his last. Who knew if he really meant it.
Todoroki took exceptionally long to pick his outfit just to impress her. He finally decided on something that expressed style, but not "I'm trying too hard."
When he emerged she was gone. He walked toward his bed contemplating going back to sleep at 9:00 PM, but stopped himself. He saw his discarded pajama pants, which he threw out of the closet door, folded neatly with a small sticky note on top. He also realized the note on the flimsy piece of paper had substance.
Todoroki-san, you were asleep all day lol. I know training is hard, but please think of your cognitive health as well. You need to eat, I am making a night time snack. Please join me :9. - Y
He didn't need to finish the note before guilt of potentially not indulging Yaoyorozu's request made his legs move on their own.
As he walked through the hall the aroma of hearty broth filled his nose. He chuckled. It was just like Yaoyorozu to cook a really unconventional snack, the uniqueness really stood out in a household of forced status quo.
The Todoroki household's kitchen was large to say the least, the unwelcoming feel of the dull walls and steel appliances was brightened by Yaoyorozu's cheerful demeanor. She had cracked a window open to let the gentle sound of far off cicadas fill the absence the kitchen left her.
Beads of sweat formed on her slight shoulders as she softly danced around while humming in the summer heat.
The sight was one to behold. Todoroki contemplated going up to her and leaning his head over her shoulder to check what she was making, but that subtle type of flirting was way out of his comfort zone.
He was about to just settle into the couch when Yaoyorozu grabbed the knife she was using to chop carrots and started waving it around in some sort of spastic dance? Todoroki couldn't help, but laugh, who could blame him? Unfortunately Yaoyorozu heard his low chuckle an opened her eyes wide in embarrassment.
They stared at each other for just enough time for the pot Yaoyorozu had previously been stirring to boil over.
Yaoyorozu quickly snapped out of her flushed daze and hurried toward the pot that was currently spilling liquid all over the stove. She attempted to turn the heat down, but right as she touched the handle she jerked her arm back. Some of the soup had already reached the knob making it extremely hot to the touch. She stuck her finger in her mouth while lifting her tank top to cover her unburnt hand as a makeshift oven mitt. The stove was successfully turned off and Todoroki was already at her side trying and failing to ignore her exposed midriff.
Todoroki took his mind off of her body to slide open the nearest drawer, hopeful that there was a bandage inside. Luckily for the both of them a single band aid lay in mint condition next to various paperwork for whatever reason.
"Yaoyorozu."
He tried to get her attention in an almost whisper since they were so close.
"Yaoyorozu I have a band aid."
Still no response. Todoroki tapped her shoulder, mindful to not touch her bare skin with his naturally cold hands.
She continued to fret and mutter, sucking on her pointer finger no longer out of necessity, but stress.
Sighing he reached past her shoulders and grabbed her wrist, pulling her finger from her mouth and drying it with his own sleeve.
"Yaoyorozu, please focus."
She froze. Yaoyorozu stood still in what Todoroki thought was compliance to his request, but in reality she was in shock. A noticeable blush spread from her neck up and she shrunk herself to let Todoroki's arms guard her sides. It was even worse when he asked her to lift the burn toward him.
She didn't want to question him and sound like an idiot so she did as he told her to. Todoroki leaned forward, over her shoulder, to the point where his lips were almost touching her finger. He puckered his lips together and...blew. The lukewarm stream of air relieved some of the heat while he peeled the wrapper off of the band aid and placed it around her finger. "Sorry that it's Hello Kitty. I don't have anything else."
Momo smiled tentatively, and turned around to face him. When she completed the 180 he slowly retracted his arms from around her, making sure to be a complete gentleman and not touch her once. Todoroki looked nervous, sheepish even, he began rubbing the back of his neck, fearing her response.
"I really feel like I should pay you back Todoroki, that was really kind of you."
She turned back around and reached for two bowls, high in the kitchen's myriad of cabinets. Yaoyorozu wasn't exactly short, but the Todoroki family was extremely tall. She struggled to reach the shelf and deemed it unladylike to climb the counter top. Todoroki didn't miss one beat and again reached over her to grab the dishes.
"You do to much around this house anyways. You do realize you're being paid to sit and watch TV with my siblings, not act like a maid."
Yaoyorozu knew he meant it to be as polite as possible though the delivery was a bit crude. She reached around him to grab a ladle and began to pour soup into his bowl then her own.
"Are you telling me to stop folding all of your laundry because you'd be a mess if it wasn't for me."
Yaoyorozu jested and the slight blush on her cheeks finally calmed down. Todoroki laughed at her small joke, deciding to dismiss the whole thing all together.
Yaoyorozu carried on serving their meal and Todoroki followed her like a shy puppy to his dining room table.
The silence that enveloped them in the dark kitchen was bordering on comfortable to say the most. The only noises heard were the clinks of spoons on porcelain and ever buzzing summer cicadas.
Todoroki shot a look at Yaoyorozu, who was absorbed in her soup and currently adding a pinch more salt to her personal bowl. She was adorable, her hair crowning the tips of her ears ever so gracefully as she pushed it back to lift her spoon to her mouth. Her delicate lips pursed and formed the cutest 'o' Todoroki had ever seen.
He wanted to say something, but just couldn't lift the pressure of the stillness.
Yaoyorozu on the other hand was jittery, she could feel the blatant stare of Todoroki hovering over her ever since the consistent sound of his minor slurping stopped completely. She was a woman of action though and looked up, already offering a thin smile.
Todoroki showed no reaction to her sudden display of awareness. Inwardly he cried with joy, outwardly his face stayed stoic.
The teen babysitter across from him stopped fiddling with her soup bowl all together. Trading the spoon for a lock of her own hair she rolled it between her fingers over and over, a sign of nervousness.
"What's with the flirting?"
She blurted out the most blunt statement of the night, which was saying a lot with Shouto present. As soon as the words left her mouth her hands flew up to cover her betraying lips.
He was shocked, confused, nervous, completely overrun with emotions. When he stayed frozen and didn't respond Yaoyorozu continued speaking out of awkwardness-lifting habit.
"Ever since your parents hired me you've never rested in your antics. What am I to make of it?"
Her diction was polite, but a slight twinge of desperation in her voice showed through. Todoroki shook off his complicated reaction and said it how it was, albeit even he was confused.
"Yaoyorozu I've never flirted with you…"
She looked distraught, panic of her misinterpretation created a fearful mask over her entire body.
"I'm sorry I must have-"
Todoroki interrupted her floundering.
"That doesn't mean I don't want to."
His sheepish demeanor returned, he was in disbelief of what he just said. Todoroki did the opposite of Yaoyorozu in the fact that he made no attempt to speak again and further agitate the awkward situation. Instead he clammed up mentally and physically as shown in his body language.
The void in the air was especially thick, neither one wanted to speak up first. Instead they opted to avoid eye contact and shuffle their feet.
Momo was too emotionally tired to speak first again and shockingly Shouto stepped up into her shoes.
"Did you really think I was flirting with you?"
Todoroki hid his eyes in a downcast glance while Yaoyorozu practically spoke with aggression.
"What was I supposed to think when you held my hands walking me home? Visited my locker personally to return my school books I left here one night? Todoroki you are infuriating!"
With the last puff of her frustration out of her system Momo coughed out of pure shock of her rudeness. She hunched over and hugged her knees to her chest, shielding herself from his response. When it didn't come she peeked over her arms to see a genuine smile emanating from the boy across from her.
Before either of them could get a syllable of their already open mouths a creek was heard from upstairs. Their eyes widened as tiny footsteps made their way from room to room and finally emerged in the form to Natsuo.
"Momo! I'm hungry."
The atmosphere was ruined, yet Shouto and Momo exchanged knowing looks. She gave him a wide grin before hurrying to Natsuo's side, baby voice in full effect.
Shouto stayed at the table, but looked on fondly. He clenched both hands into fists and made a genuine promise to himself. For once, Todoroki really really really resolved to approach Momo next time.

About Me As a Writer
Tagged by @foxyena Thank you so much!!
1. How did you come up with your username and what does it mean? My tumblr username obviously comes from Aizawa from BNHA. He’s one of my favorite characters and he’s voiced by one of my favorite seiyuu’s, Junichi Suwabe. My old username novocaine-sea (which is novocaine_sea on AO3) came from a song by the band Senses Fail! The lyrics go “I wanna drown in a sea filled with novocaine” I had that username from my bandom days and couldn’t part with it
2. Which fanfic of yours has the most feedback? (bookmarks/subscriptions/hits/kudos).
Fruitless has the most of all of these things, over 200 bookmarks, 726 kudos, almost 9000 hits and 100 subs! But as for active fics Side Effects is the second best with 90 subs!
3. What is your AO3 profile icon, and why did you choose it?
My AO3 icon is a sleeping Bakugou cap from the anime bc he looks like such an angel I love him so much
4. Do you have any regular/favourite commenters?
Yes!! My fav commenters are @vairenna, @emotabek and @mirikiri93 but i also love every single person who comments on my stories anyway because they’re all so lovely and supportive and I cherish every single one of them
5. Is there a fanfic that you keep going back to read again and again?
Right now I’ve been going back and reading Feathers Are the Least of These by mousapelli (I’m unsure if they have a tumblr account). It’s a Tokoyami x Deku fic and it’s really wonderful I love it a lot.
6. How many stories are you subscribed to? How many do you have bookmarked?
I have 830 bookmarks (it’s a mess I had more but went through and deleted a bunch one day, I need to do it again) and I don’t know how to see the exact number of works I’m subscribed to but there are 5 pages worth, though half of them are most likely completed
7. Which AU do you find yourself writing the most?
Well I tend to keep coming back to serial killer AUs, are AUs that are particularly blody. I think I have at least one planned for each fandom I’m in, and have already accomplished that with Haikyuu. Though I do wanna write more.
8. How many people are subscribed and bookmarked to you in total? (you can view this on the stats page)
I have 145 user subscriptions and 1655 bookmarked
9. Is there something you’d like to write about but are afraid of people judging you for it? (Feeling brave? If so, share it!)
I have a, uh, cannibal fic planned? Which I feel like a lot of people wouldn’t be cool with so I’m gonna keep it to myself for now lmao
10. Is there anything you would like to be better at? Writing certain scenes or genres, replying to comments, updating better, etc.
Fluff mostly. I’m not very good at it and i feel like compared to my angst and smut even it comes out really lackluster
11. Do you write rarepairs or popular ships more often?
I really love rarepairs, my favorite pairs are SemiSuga and MatsuAka, but lately I’ve found myself writing IwaOi which is strange bc they’re not even one of my main ships. But I love both rarepairs and popular ships equally!
12. How many stories have you posted on AO3 to this day (finished and unfinished)?
Okay so my AO3 says 56 but I’ve deleted at least 5 or 6 from it so it’s more in the 60s.
13. How many stories do you have saved in/with your writing program?
Oh god I don’t even want to count but I have at least 5 WIPs for Haikyuu, BNHA, and YOI respectively
14. Do you write down story ideas, or just keep them in your head?
I do the bad thing of keeping some of them in my head but I really try to write down a lot of them.
15. Have you ever co-authored a story?
I have not! But I was planning to cowrite something with my friend Erin! I think it would be fun to cowrite with somebody :)
16. How did you discover AO3?
My best friend Faith made me read this one Teen Wolf fic called “DILF” and I’ve been on AO3 ever since!
17. Do you consider yourself to be a popular or famous author in your fandom(s) on AO3?
Oh no not at all
18. Do you have a nickname or fandom name for your readers?
Do fandom authors do that?
19. Was there an author who inspired or encouraged you to write?
A lot but I would credit @thewiselearnfromhistory as my biggest inspiration. Idk where she disappeared off to but she’s a wonderful friend and an amazing writing (she’s ConesofDunshire on AO3)
20. What writing advice would you give to a beginning author?
Write what you want to see. Don’t try and copy other writer’s style; develop your own while reading their works. It’s okay to be inspired by other people’s writing.
21. Do you plot out your stories, or do you just figure it out as you go?
I’ve done both! I had a really intense outlie for Fruitless but it ended in a way that was not plan. Half of what happened in the fic was not planned until I actually wrote the completed chater. I really thik it’s fun to let the fic take you where it wants to go. Currently I’ve planned out all the chapters of Side Effects but they’ll probably end up being scrapped, at least half of it.
22. Have you ever gotten a bad comment on a story? If so, what did you do?
Yes! I have been told that my grammar is awful and the story would have been more readable and enjoyable if I had a “better grasp on my grammar.” I’ve been told that the way I write certain characters is extremely OOC. I’ve been told that characters would never do that because they’re monsters and not kind souls. But the amount of positive comments I’ve gotten outweighs the bad ones tenfold
23. Is there a certain type of scene that you have a hard time writing? (action, smut, etc..)
I’m really bad with action scenes but I’ve been writing BNHA which is an action packed series so I’ve been trying to use that as my “training” I guess
24. What story(s) are you working on now?
My biggest priority right now is Side Effects as that is my main work on AO3 right now. But I will return to Untucking and the TodoMomo fic eventually. I am also working on some Kacchako secret Santa stuff!
25. Do you plan your next project(s) before you finish your current ongoing story(s)?
Lmao yes it’s an ISSUE
26. Do you have a daily writing goal set for yourself?
No but my only goal right now is to finish Side Effects chapter 23 because it’s been giving me issues so that’s my goal every day right now
27. Do you think you’ve improved as a writer since you first started?
Oh my fucking god yes. I read the UshiOi smut that I have posted on AO3 and I cringe SO HARD. My friend told me that, that was their favorite fic of mine (or one of them at least) and I was like why... please....
28. What is your favorite story that you’ve written?
I would say Fruitless, but I also really love Golden. IT evoked a lot of emotion from me and I really love that piece of writing. But also Side Effects. And Wisteria. I can’t pick a favorite
29. What is your least favorite story that you’ve written?
Ahhhh the UshiOi story aforementioned. And anything I’ve deleted from AO3
30. Where do you see yourself (as a writer) in 5 years?
I hope to still be writing for fandom because I do enjoy it, but I also hope to be writing my own original work and maybe have a short story or two published? I think it would be nice to get into a fandom zine too!
31. What is the easiest thing about writing?
I think putting intense emotions into the characters and everything around them is my strong suit. I love breaking characters down and getting to the root of their problems
32. What is the hardest thing about writing?
Keeping things happy! I always return right back to the angst and I need to fucking relax with it it’s bad
33. Why do you write?
I write for myself, to get my ideas out there, and hopefully write something that other people love and enjoy fully. I write to make friends and to meet people who will inspire me and who I can inspire too. I love the way writing and art in general in fandom connects people. It’s really special :)

In which Todoroki and Yaoyorozu go to a photoshoot
It’s been 3 hours. The gel was trickling down her neck. Histoo, actually. The heat of the salon lights bounced off the sweat protrudingfrom every pore of his face and he decided then that this could be a form oftorture. He would never agree to it again; but the way her eyes begged andpleaded sucked the soul out of him. Ugh. He just couldn’t refuse.
Todoroki turned his head to face his partner in crime asrequested by his so-called “experienced” stylist.
“Thanks for helping out,” Yaoyorozu said. She was sittingacross from him with another crew of stylists and advisors around her, and sheclosed her eyes as another mist of holding spray was applied on her silky, black locks.
“When they asked me to bring a guy to do the ad with me, thefirst person I thought of was you.”
Todoroki winced as his stylist accidentally poked him toohard with the comb for the tenth time that hour. He was starting to think thisstylist had something against him.
“No problem,” he answered, trying to hide his discomfort andhe heard a hearty laugh from afar, “Kaminari, I can hear you.”
The blond spectator held his palm against his mouth, andYaoyorozu pressed her lips together.
“Let me enlighten you,” Yaoyorozu rose a finger in the airlike she was a tenured professor. This was her element.
“Heroes have to appeal to the public by any means necessary. So although Todoroki and I may look silly right now, this is just part of ourgrowth as young heroes.” She saw Kaminari’s stoic expression and continued, “Ilearnt this during my internship with Ms.Uwabami.”
Kaminari quickly nodded to placate the girl. Neverunderestimate Yaoyorozu’s power to educate.
“Sorry, you look great Yaomomo. I was just laughing atTodoroki.”
Jirou, lying low, angled and positioned her phone in frontof her face. With a final decision to move one inch to her left, she steadiedher hand.
“Smile! Wait, Todoroki can you smile a little wider. No,smile like you mean it. Okay, that’s perfect!” Jirou’s phone flashed and shewent on, “As per Ashido’s orders, I am to take as many pictures of thebackstage process as possible. She’s probably crying right now in her supplementaryclass.”
Yaoyorozu gave a winsome smile, one that Todoroki was surewould have earned her an academy award if she were an actress, and gazed uponher own reflection to examine her appearance. She seemed impressed. Within abrief moment, the stylists told them to get into the dingy little studio with camerasand flimsy backdrops set up by anything but their own accord.
“Okay we’ll be watching from here!” Kaminari called out, movingover to the side,“and uhh, Jirou’s gonna be our own little ‘camerawoman’.” Hescratched imaginary apostrophes above him for emphasis.
Todoroki was actually, for once, doubting himself.
“We’re gonna start with Ms.Yaoyorozu’s solo shots,”the camera man said loud enough for everyone in the room to hear, “Mr.Todorokiplease observe from the side.”
Todoroki complied and crossed his arms, moving himself overto Kaminari’s right. He felt like one of the audience in a show and foundhimself astonished at Yaoyorozu’s professional demeanor. True, she was in herelement when she was teaching and fighting crime, but Todoroki had to confess, modelling might also be her calling.
Yaoyorozu sat gracefully with her legsextended in front of her on sand that was too yellow to be real, beside a beachball. She was wearing a black bikini, no patterns, just a bunch of straps thatwas supposed to ‘hide’ her creamy skin. To add onto the sultriness of thephoto, the staff sprayed some water on her chest and limbs to portray a ‘heylook I just came out of the water’ type of image. Her hair was down and she washolding a bottle of shampoo, levelled with her face; with every move of thecamera, her slightly poised head would follow with a radiant smile brighterthan the flash itself.
“Excellent,” the cameraman muttered with every click of his skillfulfinger. “Ms.Yaoyorozu let’s do one where you’re laying down on your stomach, looking into the camera.”
Jirou froze, “Hey isn’t that a little too…” And she blushed. Her new position made Todoroki’s blood boil in places it shouldn’t be. Were they advertising the shampoo or Yaoyorozu?
“Great!” The cameraman cried after a few shots, not willingto waste another second, “Okay now Mr.Todoroki could you please come and joinher?”
Todoroki glued his fingers together like a glove and slidthem down. Wait, where the hell were thepockets. He sighed. He totally forgot he was wearing these thin, red swimshorts with an airy shirt that looked like it came out of a gaudy 1980’s closet.
“Hey, shouldn’t Todoroki be shirtless? I mean, they’re supposedto be at a beach right,” Kaminari suggested, eyes looking heavenward as if hewas thinking. God, Kaminari do you evernot cause me trouble, Todoroki thought. The cameraman looked hesitant.
“Well, Mr.Todoroki isn’t really supposed to be the focus ofthe shot-“
“Trust me, he has great abs,” Kaminari interjected, lookingunnecessarily proud and patted his friend’s shoulder. Todoroki turned over andtook a deep breath without saying a word. Someonecontrol this idiot or he will take a blow to the stomach, slung over my knee inSatan’s presence.
The cameraman was convinced right away, “Mr.Todoroki, hurry, take off your shirt and both of you…” He placed a finger on his chin inthought, “lean against each other, back to back, and tilt your heads down.”
Todoroki looked visibly annoyed and unbuttoned his shirt.Tossing it carelessly somewhere beside him, he noticed at the side of his scopeof vision that two female staff were ogling at him. He took them in stride andwas quick to sit beside Yaoyorozu, who was waiting for him patiently.
The two did as they were told, albeit unfamiliar with theimmense skin-to-skin contact.
“Sorry, we’re sortatouching,” Yaoyorozu said, peeking through her eyelashes. Her eyes weredowncast upon her fingers below, giving the boy next to him a clear view of herchest and Todoroki whipped his head around to evade that image from brandinginto his mind.
“You chose me to help with this because you’re comfortablewith me right?” Todoroki commented and pressed his back harder on hers. He sawthe lens of the camera zoom and rushed to add, “Don’t worry, the shot will turnout great.”
~~
The next week was a total nightmare for some, but heaven forothers. Especially Mineta.
“Oh my gosh,” Ashido squealed, flailing about, “You two areon fire! Look at the bulletin board at the lobby!” She landed her hands onYaoyorozu’s desk, staring at the other girl, and continued, “Well I should say, there’s only one picture of both of you there, and the others were mainly just you,but still!”
The acid heroine’s excitement was superfluous and on theside, Mineta was engrossed with the screen of his phone, looking like he washaving a field day. Jirou peered over his lumpy purple head and saw whatappeared to be snapshots of Yaoyorozu’s ad as the wallpaper on his phone. Shegagged.
On the other side of the school, Todoroki and a few othersobserved as hormone-filled, puberty-ridden guys surrounded the bulletin boardwith mouths drooling. The fire and ice hero was undoubtedly fending offfangirls of his own that morning, but Yaoyorozu’s solo advertisements weremagnetizing crowds beyond his scope of understanding. Why UA decided to havethese on full display was questionable.
“Midoriya, let’s eat lunch here today,” Todoroki uttered. The melon bread was slowly being punctured out of its misery in his grasp.
“Why? I thought we were just passing by to check out yourshots, well more like Yaoyorozu’s shots.”
“I don’t know, I just think this would be a good spot.”
Resembling a human coagulation of darkness, Tokoyamishook his head, “Todoroki, there’s a whole assembly of people here. How is thisa good spot.”
Todoroki didn’t take his question into account, and promptlysat down across from the bulletin board, chewing his food slowly. Kirishimashrugged and followed suit.
“Does it have something to do with Yaomomo’s posters?”Kaminari asked, lowering himself beside the Red Riot hero and followed Todoroki’sseemingly point blank gaze. Todoroki gritted his teeth whenever someone tooktheir phones out to record their own Yaoyorozu memorabilia and gulped down thelast bit of his bread.
“Wow, you ate so fast,” Kirishima noted as he scooped a pileof rice into his mouth and Todoroki mumbled an incoherent response. One particularlysuspicious-looking boy started to pluck out the pins out of one of the postersin succession. His eyes reflected an accumulation of inconceivable lust andTodoroki jetted off his spot as if to lunge at him. His friends’ mouths werewide open, except for Tokoyami who acted like he predicted this, when the normallyrational Todoroki pressed his hand hard against the dangling poster.
“You’re not allowed to take this,” his voice was serious butdidn’t stop the boy from pulling.
“But there are so many anyways,” the boy commented casually,“Who’s to know? Plus this one is my favourite, look at how great her –”
Todoroki further deepened his voice and lifted his head,“ Theposters are here for…educational purposes only.” He knew that was a long shot, but went on, “It’s called stealing. If you don’t put those pins back, I willphysically make you.”
“Okay, why don’t you try?”
The crowd began to bustle, but no one had the nerves to step between them.
Kaminari exhaled and went to the commotion, “Hey, if you don’tput it back. I’ll let Aizawa sensei know and he’ll deal with you.” The boyswallowed hard at that. This first-year probably had his ass kicked by Aizawaonce, by the looks of it.
“Uh…fine!” The little thief stuttered, “But…But—“
“Just get lost,” Todoroki spewed, eyes glaring indiscriminately, and the crowd began todisband.
Kaminari scoffed, “Ijust saved that kid from having frostbitten toes, didn’t I. Gotta give it to him though, what a brave soul to dare talk to you like this.”
The boy’s previously anger-plagued eyes softened, “Thanks, Idon’t know what came over me. Just a sense of justice, probably.”
“Sure, justice,” Kirishima slogged over, a piece of rice stuckon the edge of his chin, “I feel like it’s more of another word that startswith a ‘j’…mmm…what could it be?”
“Jealousy?” Kaminari teased and they both chuckled.
“Oh man, he’s not even denying it!”
“Should we go now, or does Todoroki here wanna continueplaying tower defense?” Tokoyami joined.
“Good one,” Kirishima high-fived the birdman asthe latter did a lopsided grin. These guys were deadly when they’re together. Midoriya stifled a laugh too, but did not chime in, watching as Todoroki turned his back to themwithout even a hint of protest.
~~
“That…that happened?!” Yaoyorozu covered her face in embarrassmentwhen Kirishima and Kaminari re-enacted the whole scene for her.
“Yeah and he was all like ‘oh my god I’ll kick you until youcried for your mommy’ and he looked so pissed, he had steam coming out of hisears!” Kirishima mocked and began to laugh hysterically.
Kaminari held his stomach in pain, “and I swear he was –“
A sudden chill creeped down both of their spines.
“Are you guys done?” Todoroki came out of the blue andglowered. Kaminari looked taken aback and pulled Kirishima to run for theirlives, leaving the two alone to drown in discomfort amongst the quiet line oflockers.
Yaoyorozu fiddled with a piece of her bangs, “Thanks fordoing the photo shoot the other day. If you’d like we could do another one? I wasasked to do a car commercial.”
Todoroki still had an unreadable expression and she frowned,“or not…?”
He thought for a moment and considered her proposal, “Sure,I wouldn’t mind.” She nodded happily. Her hands fished inside her backpack, andpulled out something small enough to fit in her palm.
“Before I forget,” she held out her hand, “give me yourwallet.”
The boy cocked an eyebrow but did as told. Yaoyorozu swiftlyopened his bifold and slipped in the thing in hand. Curiously, he checked theinside when she returned it. At the front transparent pocket, was a photo ofthem, clad in skimpy swim wear and looking ecstatic.
“The studio gave us each a smaller version to keep,” shecommented with a triumphant smile, “I hope you won’t lose it.”
“Mm, I’ll take good care of it,” he responded, “WhatKaminari and Kirishima said, could you forget about it?” The last part wasadded to ease his conscience.
“Yeah of…of course! You did it out of the goodness of yourheart! Those two were just joking!” She flopped her hand in the air to appealfor his approval and he relaxed. Watching as he stretched the muscles of his neck, she drapedher bag over her shoulders.
“I have to go now,” she waved her hands, “see you tomorrow.”
“Wait, it’s getting dark. I’ll walk with you back to thedorm, Yaoyorozu.”
Her heart fluttered at the unexpected offer and followed hisfootsteps, walking in tandem.
It could be just her overactive imagination, but she had toadmit, they did look amazing together.
