Black Hole Baby by Superorganism. i would put a marker down and say this is the sound of the summer but this came out last summer :/ the very flat (slightly chiptune?) delivery of the lyrics combined with the hyper bouncy...squelchy??? lasers? is extremely fun. this song is neither creepy nor wet but it is viscous bc u are on a spaceship partying as a black hole is Getting You

listen. anything that starts off with subway chimes and the following lyrics is going to be good. these are good song choices in my mind.

the bridge in the middle with bits and pieces of radio hosts shouting them out-- i could take it or leave it. i do like how this band namedrops themselves constantly. it's like an oil painting at an estate sale with a huge legible signature at the bottom.

i have read about three-quarters of raymond chandler's oeuvre (hardboiled detective/film noir author and screenwriter of note) this week. i cannot in good faith recommend these books because they contain some of the worst excesses of their time, which is good bc this is not a review series.

sometimes, i'm watching or reading something and i decide it would be a good tuesdaypost candidate. i hate the term consume but it's the quickest descriptor here, so bear with me. if i am consuming a work based on the recommendation of a friend, it changes how i consume the work-- i'm on the lookout for the elements they used in their pitch. if i'm consuming a work to write an article or paper (rare these days) i'm stopping halfway through to take notes, i'm rewinding to catch details, i'm delving into interviews, i often fully rewatch or reread. if i'm liveblogging something i am mostly on the lookout for humorous and/or gay bits. if in the middle of something i catch myself thinking "ooh this would be good to talk about for the tuesdaypost" that introduces another like, film or lit crit level to the rest of my time with the work. it's very difficult to turn that part of my brain off.

when i am reading things just for me, none of that is there. i am fully immersed, my disbelief is suspended. i am not thinking about anything else but the story that is being told to me. ive spent a great deal of time with these books this week and it feels weird not to talk about them, but they are something i really enjoyed that was just for me.

i honestly don't know how to unpack my enjoyment of works that (at times) reflect the quite extreme racism of their author-- the one that grabbed me the most, Farewell My Lovely, contained some of the most callous and exceptionally cruel shit i've ever read. it also contained some of the most fascinatingly complex inner workings of an extremely closeted bisexual guy with ptsd i've ever read. i don't know how to talk about these books in an interesting or balanced way.

even if i did know how to unpack these things, the brief and light weekly roundup post on goddamn tumblr dot com (home to no nuance whatsoever) would not be the venue. this is an anti-review, in a way.

watching

a fuck of a lot actually bc i'm really trying to crank out this baby blanket and podcasts aren't really doing it. same username on letterboxd if u want to see early drafts of this tuesdaypost section.

i watched many films that came on two vhs tapes when i was little, bc charlton heston was one of my mom's favorite actors. i did not see spartacus when i was little but i did see the entirety of ben hur AND the ten commandments before i was eight. i can't make that make sense either.

anyway i have a soft spot for epics but only when i am actively doing things with my hands. this one has a more interesting making-of story than the actual movie, imo. this one also had oddly christian overtones, for being set in a time where christ and christianity did not yet exist. like many critics of the time, i have no strong feelings about mr douglas' acting. i really, really liked the soundtrack-- a delight to hear the love theme in context after hearing it in a thousand different soundtrack theme compilations!

☔Is there a fic concept you have that you'd like to just explain and share because you're not sure you'll ever write it? If so, what is it?

okay i swear im not copying off of @sighonaraa here (hey !! 😘) bc my initial inspiration was poirot (silly mustache buddies!) not benoit blanc, although benoit blanc and sherlock holmes did cross my mind after i had the initial idea, but i have a fic i've rotated in my brain about like. amateur sleuth/gentleman detective/gumshoe ted au, with a tedependent angle.

i actually have a lot of interest in like. both mystery stories in general (amateur sleuth/gentleman detective versus private eye/noir detective is a good one! i have a very vague noir au too--and trent as a homme fatale, perhaps? inch resting) and in like. certain archetypes (gentleman thief, amateur sleuth, magical nanny, noir private eye, etc) and it's fun to see how ted would fit into them (magical nanny is weirdly fitting, the whole mary poppins/nanny mcphee--oh my god, "when you do not want me but need me, i must stay--when you want me but no longer need me, i must go" this is literally how ted thinks of his role with the teams he coaches isn't it. jesus christ. hang on a second i'm going to make that a Post.)

so like i have a lot of vague aus centered around these concepts: ted as a poirot/benoit blanc/sherlock type character, and trent potentially as his watson/hastings/etc, or the other way around possibly but less likely, and so on.

with the sleuth thing in particular, though, i just have a lot of feelings about how a good gentleman sleuth has to be like. kind, intelligent, underestimated, and non-judgemental. particularly that last one, i think, is a very important trait--because they go digging around in the domestic private lives of their suspects, and often uncover truths that are irrelevant to the crime at hand, but nonetheless have deeper life-changing implications. (a hidden relationship, a secret, a past indiscretion, whatever--i could genuinely write an essay aobut this but im trying to hold back here so i won't give specific examples) and in order to be kind, an amateur sleuth must know when to let things lie (in fact, a good sleuth will sometimes, if rarely, let the murderer go entirely, if it is needed, which generally, a cop in a cop show can never do), or when to be earnestly non-judgemental about it, you know? and i think all that suits ted to a "t". being curious, not judgemental. being kind and empathetic. i think trent would make a great partner in this as well because he very much cares about the truth, but ted helps him see when it's better to keep silent, because despite trent's determination (especially if he still starts off as a journalist with a Reputation) he does have a kind heart, and he isn't necessarily interested in causing pain. and he's very intelligent in his own right (although that's another thing, is that usually the watson/hastings is, while intelligent in their own way, an entirely different type of intelligence, while i believe trent would actually be pretty good at detecting, considering his skillset? so. hm.)

anyway i just have a lot of messy thoughts about this.

I love how I made that post about it and then just never talked about it LMAO

doing that now, so !!! I'm gonna preface this with at the time of me watching the finale, I had NO idea that there was going to be a season 6 jfghfjghf I legit thought that season 5 was the final season because that's what had been discussed in previous years (as far as I'm aware anyways) so my thoughts and issues with the season finale were bc I thought we were ending after season 5

now onto what I had issues with! :D

my biggest issue was that it was only ladybug who fought with hawkmoth (or monarch as he's eventually called). like the show has sidelined chat noir PLENTY of times before in the past, and as a chat noir enjoyer it's always been very frustrating. but not having him involved in the finale????? having marinette be the ONLY one to know the truth about gabriel and adrien's family??? bro that is going to tear that poor girl up inside

and also there are SO many loose ends that haven't been tied up (again, this was something I had issue with before I knew about s6). like it would've been really great to have that verbal confirmation that adrien is a sentimonster other than the implications with gabriel's rings and felix and kagami's story to marinette. I don't know if anyone else felt this way but I was a tiny bit confused by the story they told to marinette???? it's like they hinted at the confirmation rather than outright saying it.

aND THEN GABRIEL BEING REMEMBERED AS A HERO. BRO. BRO. HAVING ADRIEN SAY THAT HE WANTS TO BE LIKE HIS DAD..... HERO OR NOT THAT DOES NOT CHANGE THE FACT THAT GABRIEL WAS A SHIT FATHER TO HIM??????

all of that being said. when you throw in the knowledge that there's going to be a season 6, a lot of this starts to make sense?

specifically this "perfect world" that we see all of the characters in after gabriel makes his wish. I mean just earlier in the episode marinette says that you can't have a perfect world, but we as humans can use our humanity to find the perfect human and realistic solution to a problem. and then we cut to this almost dreamy type paris after, and I think you're meant to be heavily off put by everything because it feels too good to be true. it's supposed to leave you feeling weird and I think with adrien especially you're supposed to raise a brow.

and this is just me being hopeful but I sure do hope that we get a proper finale. where it's ladybug and chat noir fighting together and we get a proper ending.

ALSO I WAS SO??? DISAPPOINTED AT NO IDENTITY REVEAL??? like okay now it makes sense that they didn't reveal their identities because the show isn't over, but before I knew about a s6 I was so ????

and yeah that's pretty much it. I've been following this show since I was 13 I think, and the writing always leaves so much to be desired man. miraculous is truly a case where the fandom can collectively write the show (and characters!) better than the actual creators of the show can.

but those are my thoughts about the finale! again, most of them were made because I thought the show was ending after season 5, so knowing that there's a season 6 coming a lot of my grievances have been put to rest jgfghfgj but in the moment I was so "what the fuck?????"

hii it's always me! (this will be very long i'm so, so sorry 😭)

recently i was thinking a lot about the love square and how much dysfunctional it is in mlb (in my opinion at least) bc they put everything in the "last" season and they don't know how to write and i was wondering how you would evolve it to make those two (mike and will, obv) work without creating an unhealthy and unbalanced relationship. bc.

following the mlb's story we see that marinette likes adrien and chat noir likes ladybug. but for making their relationship balanced after a identity reveal they firstly make ladybug appreciate (in a almost romantic subtext) chat noir and make adrien appreciate marinette in the same way. bc in the numerous fanservice eps where they do a identity reveal and then they forget everything (not chat blanc) we see that marinette (as it should be) firstly is insecure and dosen't accept immediately that adrien is chatnoir. after some time she finally accepts it. then we have adrien- now. adrien always says he would've loved ladybug, whoever she really was. he dosen't care who she really is. so when he found out that ladybug is marinette... "well?? ok! nice! she's one of my bestfriends so that's nice!" no way dude. he IMMEDIATELY accepted that but he didn't love marinette for her qualities. he started dating her just bc she's ladybug and this is NOT OKAY. this is totally unbalanced and disrespectful to marinette. and the writers knew this. so, trying to "fix" everything (as usual...) they put in the basically last season that one day adrien woke up and said "ohh ig i'm in love with marinette now". and marinette woke up one day saying "wait... i like chatnoir now! and he also loves ladybug so i'm lucky this time!" and marinette's crush survived about two days. than marinette and adrien started dating (tbh... i liked how they worked as a couple but idk??? since the first season "ladybug, my love" and now???)

now. the whole point is. there will be moments where will and mike will start to "like like" their counterparts or you will build them in another way?

another question is: what do you think about the love square's building in mlb?

Great analysis of MLB! I love reading detailed and in-depth opinions like this one so no worries, it’s so cool to hear your perspective! I’ll share my incredibly long reply lol

The short answer is, yes, I am planning to show Mike and Will starting to “like like”their counterparts before the reveal. Now here’s the much, much longer answer lol.

First a WARNING: Some parts of the following explanation are a little bit SPOILERY, but not too much. Only if you are obsessive about having no spoilers. I’ll try to keep it pretty vague

Okay with that out of the way, I’m gonna share a lengthier explanation of my thought process for writing Strange and Miraculous Tales. It’s long so bear with me lol

So, obviously, Mike’s long-time crush on Will is gonna make the transition post-ID reveal relatively easy for him. After the shock wears off, Mike can transition pretty well into being comfortable with and/or progressing from platonic to romantic. (In my opinion anyway) Although, Mike is gonna have a lot to process before he gets to that point

Will is the difficult one. Obviously, there’s a lot of problems with falling in love as superheroes, since they can’t get to know each other properly. To combat this, when I drafted my initial outline, I decided that Will was going to start to see Mike in a different light (a more romantic one) before the ID reveal.

I’ve only showed this a little bit of this theme so far. I started off in the beginning (ch. 3) hinting that Will was demi and that he already thought Mike was kinda cute, but that he only likes people he’s known for a while/is comfortable with. I hoped to build on this over the course of the story, showing Will growing close with Mike (again lol) and giving him an opportunity to start falling in love with Mike, as they become close friends (even though Will doesn’t realize this is happening ‘cause he’s a little dumb sometimes). As the story progresses, Mike has also started lowering his guard and becoming a little less flustered, which also helps Will to get to know (and love) Mike more.

In case the theme is too subtle, here’s another example of one of the ways I showed Will starting to develop a minor crush (that he himself doesn’t realize yet): when Will thinks that Mike’s getting flustered is cute and enjoys teasing him in ch. 6. Will’s feelings towards Mike have been very, very subtle so far, but I intend to make a few, more overt references (of both of them falling for their counterparts) as we near the ID reveal. There might be other small references already in the story, but I can’t remember them atm. (Also, if you haven’t read ch. 20 yet, there’s a much more blatant reference to Will starting to develop feelings for Mike hehe)

As a side note: I’ve also tried to pepper in some of Chat thinking that Z is kind of cute, but dismissing the thoughts, because he knows he likes Will. For instance, Mike had a mini freak out about thinking Z was handsome/cute in ch. 5. And he also wanted to remember Z kissing him in ch. 7. What’s more, I will say… the time Z kissed him in Oblivio might be affecting Mike more than he’s let on so far 😉

To summarize – I’m trying to address the love square by having Mike having invasive, romantic thoughts about Zombie Boy, and Will developing some subtle feelings for Mike, before the identity reveal, just like you said.

Most importantly though, I hope you keep in mind that my version of an MLB ID reveal and byler getting together won’t be perfect. I’ve already tried to show them liking each other, but it might have been a little too subtle. I did my best to lay the groundwork for a healthy relationship, and I think I did pretty well… but I may have fallen short. (I try my best but I’m still regrettably, a human who does make mistakes 😅). What I’m trying to say is: I hope you can still enjoy the story, even if I don’t execute this section perfectly

Now! To address my thoughts on the love square in the show… I hope it’s not disappointing, but I don’t have a lot of thoughts lol. I am the kind of person who overanalyzes a lot (and often times I enjoy analyzing things), but when I’m watching TV, a lot of times I try to turn off my brain and tend to be forgiving, even when the writing is iffy.

The exceptions to this in MLB: (1) the reversal of the love square was so freaking disappointing to me. I had always loved MariChat before those episodes, because I believed that they could build a really strong relationship, if they just focused on getting to know each other as friends first (and that was the only part of the love square where they weren’t flustered fools). But the way the two of them completely fell apart in the show was such BS! Ladybug not being able to focus on her job as a hero, had me like, wtf guys! Bc Chat was totally fine when he liked LB, so why is it so different the other way around. And I don’t care if you promised yourself you’d stop liking Adrien for some (very BS) reason Marinette – if your crush suddenly likes you back and you still like him, why on earth wouldn’t you start dating him!?!?! (2) The second thing I hate in the writing is Lila, and the idiotic storylines where no one believed Marinette, and they all believed this random person, who just showed up, over their longtime friend. Stupid. And not fun stupid. Sorry for the rant lol.

Hope all of that answers your question! 😊 And I really hope that you aren’t thinking, “omg tmi” right now haha

We also see him getting mad It's a love triangle lmao

At first it may not make that much sense but if you find the hidden doc everything he says in No Name #3 makes sense

In the file we see Kohaku destroyed an au so HiMERU had to make another one. Judging from the wording and the moth mentioned, the new au HiMERU made is the one with Moth Kohaku

Btw. This moth Kohaku's story can be found in the author's Twitter! (@/Iambeegrape) Dw Kohaku according to HiMERU you're the mc. And so far there hasn't been any mention of like Aira and other people so..

In the author's twitter we also see this drawing (It has an alt text)

If you read the doc/file we will know how Kohaku ended up with a maid outfit a.k.a Maid outfit origins <33

If you’re too lazy to read the doc basically, Kohaku made a mess (destroyed some crystals) sooo he has to clean it up

Going back to the Kohaku being mad it's a love triangle..

Due to me having a short memory I can barely remember the earlier events of CHAU so everything that's left in there is jumbled up

CHAU from what I remember it obviously started with a Kohaku Oukawa x Reader x Aira Shiratori

Eichi decided that the candy MC makes is basically drugs so he sends MC away to the human world to collect red(?) crystal hearts

MC falls from the sky and ends up getting saved by Kohaku (We see this basically being predetermined bc Kohaku had a dream about saving someone falling from the sky and woww it happened..I think the dream thing happened in the Prequel?)

Blah blah blah..MC keeps everyone updated by using Twitter and goes M.I.A for a while bc the whole engagement thing happened (MC was passed out)

That's basically the main story (Or rather what I can really remember that is from the main story since I'm not sure which is which..If it's from the prequel, main story, or the distorted party)

I want someone to make a list of Kohaku's crimes bc..He committed a lot in this story

Sorry if everything is a mess. I tend to jump from one topic to another to also not forget what I have on my mind since when I don't write it out I completely forget what it is

We see a certain technique in the story..That is..To feed MC to get rid of/change the topic

They also seem to have a thing for drugging MC to sleep

There was one time in Eichi's office, Kohaku's sister, and Kohaku himself

Eichi put noir hearts in the sweets which acts as a sleeping drug to MC

Kohaku's sister put a trail of candies with sleeping drugs in it for MC to follow (Keep in mind that MC KNEW it's a classic kidnapping trap but still ate and followed the candies anyways bc yes)

And Kohaku in Prequel chapter 21. We see that there's a black dust on top of the sweets that makes MC fall asleep

He started to feed MC sweets only when MC started to talk about the end and all that stuff

So yayyy! Want to distract MC? Feed them sweets! It's up to you if you want to make them fall asleep or not (And speaking of sleep, I am getting sleepy..fast)

Anyways..The bleeding Kohaku is the one who lived/died 775 times (Technically, It's 777) I think? My brain isn't working

Pretty sure this whole bucket filling up is also in the hidden doc..

After a few sentences we get to the part where HiMERU creates another Kohaku song promotion: Sweet sweet white song

Kohaku being the man he is tried to unalive his other self because that other Kohaku might steal MC away from him

HiMERU laughed at him and said this

Before what happened above though when Kohaku was destroying other au's he once again made it clear that he doesn't care for other MC's

Kohaku only loves one MC. His MC. The one he calls "Omae". It doesn't matter if in some other au, let's say Mayoi..Has a relationship with MC as long as the MC isn't his MC

At least, that's what I can understand. I'm not sure if he has different opinions depending on the character MC has a relationship with

Btw..There's something I'm curious about..

Since the story is an x reader the format is like "You do this and that"

The DayDream is in first person and there was this line (I also mentioned this in my previous part of Fanfic theory)

"are you... Are you the viewer? The fiend ? Or some bypassed stranger?" His golden eyes stared down at me.

Does that mean that the person there a.k.a the person HiMERU is talking to us? The reader themselves? Like actual actual reader. The irl one

And what does he mean by "trip"? What trip?

I never solved the code there. I was extremely sleepy during that time like rn..And honestly? I suck at math. Even basic math. I don't trust myself with those numbers and letters, I always gotta check if it's right

Rinne has an upside down spade to represent Hiiro (But what if it really is Kohaku and not Rinne? fhgasuhdjkb is what my mind is currently saying. Mind pls shut up and let me be. If I'm wrong then I'm wrong)

Niki is in the side and not really seen (Same with Kana. Kaname is hiding behind HiMERU)

Kohaku doesn't have a heart on him that represents Aira though

I think that's all for now? I may have forgotten some things I wanted to add (again) and I know I did forget something. I had so many thoughts while reading and they suddenly vanished from my mind when I tried to type it out

s2ep5 troublemaker

and now i'm going out of order from the netflix list bc whoever was releasing the episodes in the u.s. decided to do the bananas thing and release an episode between a two-parter

the two-parter i'm saving for the weekend when i can stay up until two complaining about it (bc i'm pretty sure chloe gets a miraculous in these) and not have to worry too much about catching up on sleep bc i can take naps during the day

anyway i didn't like this episode, but at this point i feel like a broken record. and it's not just not liking the episode, but it's about a lot of critiques i have of the show itself.

the set-up was, once again, contrived. if you're hosting someone at your house, like anyone, not even a superstar, and they've never been there, and they ask for the bathroom--why would you say "it's upstairs." and no either 1) specify exactly where it is and how to get there or 2) go up there yourself. esp since it seems like they live at least two stories above the bakery? (i originally thought it was right above the bakery, but i guess i was wrong. do they own the whole building? who lives right above the bakery?)

like in a normal world, no one would just vaguely hand-wave like that. esp if you don't want ppl snooping around your personal room bc they went through the wrong door.

but the fact that it was marinette's room continues the patter of the writers punishing her for existing so that's not great.

it was frustrating how they treated marinette's anxiety over it as well, and that tikki was so dismissive. it felt more like a joke to the writers than something that would actually be incredibly embarrassing.

but i was more frustrated with the whole set-up in the first place.

the solution was creative, i'll give them that. but it was also stupid.

but i will give them having troublemaker take one of ladybug's earrings. that always actually makes me instinctively tense. it's just so good--that slow change back as her earrings beep. it's truly tense. i wonder if they'll ever go anywhere with that.

i always wonder what it looks like for chat noir, since he just has the one ring.

there was something else in the episode that they set up that i wondered if they might go anywhere with it, but i can't remember what it was lmao. i don't think they will. i don't think the writers are that good at their job.

oh yeah, i hated sabine doing those kung fu moves under the guise of "strong independent woman." bc it turned very quickly into racism.

i hate to say this, but i actually really like adrien's budding friendship with marinette. it seems like sometimes he listens to her. though, the fact that he only listen when it involves something he's intimately involved in, like fashion and modeling, i guess it's a bit of a moot point. outside the rest of the narrative, i actually enjoyed the scenes when he's just being a pal to marinette. it was actually sweet.

i just wish marinette could be the same. i really wish her crush on adrien didn't exist and they could just exist as good friends, bc i think they would actually be really good as friends. this is lukanette propaganda, yes.

i really need to start writing these down as i go, bc i keep losing the plot. mostly bc this show doesn't stay in my head for very long. my brain has better things to be thinking about. at this point, the only reason i'm posting about it now is bc of the fact that i'm considering of making a video essay and i figure i should document as much as i can so i can form the thesis of the video essay.

oh yeah, and glad to see chat noir's cataclysm was actually useful this time.

Or are they similar but just show different amounts of certain feelings? :0

Oh, just poems and stories! I don’t want to show off lol they were achievements for sure but I’m sure you have something better to do than read about them :P And thank you, I have a lot of opinions about who Adrien is and how he does it. Onto Chat vs Adrien - I think inherently they are the same person, obviously, but Chat Noir lives without the same sort of ... suffocation, I guess? Being Adrien Agreste is work. That’s something that he carries with him every minute of every day - being an Agreste means that there are always cameras somewhere, and his every move is scrutinised. As much as Adrien likes to kick back and relax with his friends, and really does love and trust them very deeply (and god, he loves being called ‘dude’!), the role his friends play in Adrien’s life is actually very minor, by necessity (not by choice: he would always choose to hang out with those guys, sans the nights his father promises he’ll make it to dinner this time - this time). He is working. He has expectations to manage and a phone which is waiting to call him home at the drop of a hat when his father hasn’t quite managed to make this meeting, could he please stand in, or Adrien, there’s a charity event you need to attend, or Adrien, please turn another 13 degrees to the left so the cameras can get your smile properly while you talk to your friends. Adrien’s got a lot of very high expectations put on him which are inherently expectations, rather than goals - they are things he can fall short of or meet, but they are so high it is impossible to exceed them, so his options are disappointing his father or .... not disappointing him.

Adrien really, really cares about his father. I think it’s underestimated, the turmoil that he goes through in Chat Blanc - since the disappearance of his mother his father really, truly changed, and Adrien really believes that that’s because Gabriel is trying to hold things together. He thinks his father has, essentially, fallen apart, and when has it ever been like Adrien to hold somebody’s turmoil and fear and sickness against them? His father is sick. He’s afraid of going outside, he’s afraid for Adrien so hard that it’s sometimes suffocating, and Adrien wants him to get better. Before he met Ladybug, Adrien Agreste needed to find something - some relationship - to anchor himself into, to strap himself onto and not let go of, and for him that relationship was his father’s. To Adrien, he and Gabriel are a team. The same sort of team Ladybug and Chat Noir are, the same sort of inherent and unbreakable bond that they have: he is inseperable from his father. Whatever this terrible grief is, whatever it has stolen from Gabriel, they are in it together. They are in it together and it is just Adrien’s turn to be the part of the team who does more work, and that is because Gabriel is self-destructing, and Adrien aches for his father to be better, more than he aches to be wanted. And besides, Adrien doesn’t do love like that (here’s a link to the fic exactly on that subject!). He doesn’t do it like his father needs to earn it, he has been loved like that before - like he could be loved if only he was good enough - and he would not wish that on his worst enemy, much less the people he loves. Gabriel does not owe him anything, to earn Adrien’s love. If the only way to express it - their partnership - is through the avenues of work that Gabriel opens up to him, asks him to do, then that’s what Adrien will do. He considers them a team.

Chat Noir, meanwhile, has a different partner - a teammate who will play the game with him in equal parts, who often overtakes him because she is just amazing and dynamic and beautiful, who soars past him on gilded wings and takes his breath away. And then she turns back to offer him her hand, to pull him onward, because she loves him, and it has never in her entire life ever been a problem for Ladybug that she did not feel loved, that she did not know how to show people that they were wanted. She has never even hesitated to smile for people - especially Chat - or to support him when he’s down. She has been wildly, miraculously, crazily kind to him, and been open about her emotions, and accessible, and responsive, and amazing, and his best friend (sorry Nino) he’s ever had, the best friend he’s ever been lucky enough to meet. And you know his luck! She takes his breath away not just because she is kind and gentle and soft, where everybody else in his life has always been hard, but because she is basically a genius and she knows it, and she’s ridiculously impressive, and Adrien Agreste, my friends, is 100% the sort of guy who is turned on by girls who can kick his butt, that is the sort of thing he loves, not least because they don’t need him to be doing anything - they don’t need him in the charity event, they don’t need him to be on call, they don’t need him - but they want him. Ladybug wants him. And if she does need him, it’s only in equal parts to how often and how badly he needs her. She is so.... Anyway. Let’s not go on a long rant about what he loves about Ladybug, I do need to finish this response conceivably within the next several years. The key difference between Chat Noir and Adrien Agreste is that the people who they tie themselves into the world with either love him or they don’t, and Adrien feels like he must be doing something wrong (not being able to reach his father properly - he thinks he just hasn’t found the right path - he thinks they are a team and it is his job to reach him, and he hasn’t done it, yet, and it make him a bad teammate), though he is very quiet about his confusion, and he does what he is asked to do because he has very little alternative. Ladybug’s team... being on Ladybug’s team comes as easily as breathing. It makes him happy. It teaches him everything he needs to be taught about the world, about how love works, about what it is like when you are just - well - happy, and you don’t care if anybody is watching. That same thing can be said, increasingly, more and more often, of Adrien’s time he spends with his friends - Marinette and Kagami and Nino and Alya and Max and everybody - and in fact we have seen the influence of people who really love him leaking into his behaviour, as he is slowly departing from doing every single thing his father ever asks from him, as he sneaks off to London (from which he was, I remind you, once banned, even though he could have gone to his uncle’s funeral) with nary a glance behind him, with this breathy little exhilaration which is only cemented by his friends’ acceptance and excitement rather than disgust and disappointment. He hosts his party. He finds ways to live when he still can, he finds ways to breathe these stolen gasps of air when he’s got the time to do it, and it just would not have occurred to him to even try, before this series started. Before he met someone (in this case, Plagg) who offered him an out.

There’s a lot to write about Chloe here as well, but I am already several paragraphs deep into this. Chloe’s role as his only friend is important and he really does like her a lot, she is one of his closest and is literally his oldest friend, and there’s a lot to be said for how he defends her and tries for her and believes in her. They are genuinely, really friends. But we’re not getting into it.

As Adrien prioritises his partnership - his team - with Ladybug more and more, he is growing to learn what a real team looks like. Chat is loose and easy and relaxed and he relishes that, and he loves being with her more than he loves anything else in the entire world, because he has her back and he really believes she has his, and the whole rest of the world really doesn’t matter. I’ve written about this before - he has long-held beliefs about the world, absolute truths that he feels he can dig and dig and dig and dig and he will never come out the other side, they’re just true. They’re just true.

But it costs Adrien something, to believe that he is a team with his father, and it does not cost him anything to believe the same of his best friend. Still, he will not ever let one of his absolute truths go easily (which is why he struggles with Kagami so much - one of his truths is that he is in love with Ladybug; and why he struggles with Chat Blanc, letting his father go, even though he knew that’s what he had to do), and that is why ... he is a sad boy. It is because he is fighting to find out where the truth is. He knows it has to be there somewhere. He knows it has to be buried somewhere under these swathes of work and isolation and barely-acceptable-son-but-thanks-for-trying behaviour. He just isn’t looking hard enough, there is want, somewhere under there. Gabriel wants him, somewhere there. It does not help that Gabriel throws out occasionally flashes of love, a hug here, concern for him there, a conversation once a month. It doesn’t help that he is being strung along.

(As a spoiler, Adrien is wasting his time.)

Anyway, the differences between Adrien and Chat are really just how much of Adrien is actually welcome, at any one time. Adrien mostly just works for his father, has always mostly just done work, he has a packed schedule - and nobody cares who Adrien is, they care what the young Monsieur Agreste can do for them. Chat is always welcome. Chat is always wanted. Chat always feels wanted, and she finds new ways to make him feel it almost every time he sees her. He craves that, and flourishes in it. I guess that’s the main difference.

Ok I'm confused. So what kind of sans is rosella sans? And their au? Because I follow the writer and get updates for the stories all the time but I just don't know who this guy is! Please help me so I can read more good fanfiction by Lazy!

Hello! Thank you so much for the support! 🙏🏻 I’ll do my best to explain. X3

So at the beginning, Rosella Sans was a fusion between underfell sans and underlust sans (red + lust) due to an rp with scarpath for the story ‘Of Bites and Lust’

Because of how different I portrayed Red from typical Red, it birthed a new character, and was thus named Rose only at the time.

Due to my obsession (lol XD), I have continuously kept fleshing him out. I had thought to do the AU LustFell (bc of the fusion) but honestly speaking, I don’t want a Papyrus version or think of alternate versions of undertale. There is already so many! I’m tired. X’D

As such, Rose deviated. Currently, he belongs to an AU I have yet to flesh out. He belongs into a world that’s separated into 5 nations, and he’s living in one of them that gives a mafia-vibe since he’s a mafia boss. About 1940’s noir-esque setting (but the year is not 1940, just the feeling).

If we’re talking about origin stories. He’s a reincarnator who remembers his past lives, and cannot forget them. So you can imagine how experienced he is and how fast he can adapt to situations. He’s not OP by any means though. Having knowledge and wisdom doesn’t make one immortal. He uses pink ice as his magic, but he’s weak to fire enemies due to them melting his ice. Non-magic fire doesn’t affect his ice. :D

He also has a permanent female ectobody but identifies himself as a male because he was originally a human male (before he started reincarnating). Not to say he’s never been a female before amongst other things (bc reincarnations), but he likes to remember what he initially was. :)

With all that, Rosella Sans (a font name I’ve chosen as tribute to him being a skeleton and Sans despite how far he’s deviated and not part of any -tales/-fells AUs) will be appearing in the story [Soul Wings] created by @mundaneowl . It’s a partial collaboration on my end because my characters (apart from Rose but mostly Rose) affects their story. Their character Arial Narrow becomes his lover/husband (not spoiler XD). However, it’s still in the works due to the creator’s busy life, so not a lot of canonical content is out yet.

That’s why, I had taken it upon myself to write various oneshots/stories or draw to expose Rose (and Arrow <Arial Narrow>) as much as possible!

Meigui, a recent OC I have created, is actually one of his reincarnations (human male). So they’re similar but not the same. Same soul but can have different personality, appearance, beliefs, etc. They just remember everything (past lives), and it’s up to adapting to whatever world they’re born in.
