How tf did I get here.
From being a very active reblogger in the markiplier fandom from when I first made this account and just being a very passive poster for like 3 or 4 years. To now being way too active on the markiplier fandom AGAIN that my brain can literally not stfu about mark or iswm for a single day. It’s like I’m experiencing brain rot but with full clarity. What the hell is this shit. Mark’s got me under some kind of spell

My schedule consists of sleeping in the day and being awake during the ungodly hours of the night, that is all
Also we started journaling in my art class and literally all ive written are au and fic ideas for Amphibia, specifically marcanne because yes
Like you can’t tell me a Warrior Cats au of Amphibia wouldn’t be a fun concept to play around with. Like Marcy and Sasha are patrolling the boarders of whatever clan (I was sort of thinking Windclan or Shadowclan?) and they see a farm in the distance and Marcy pauses and smells the air like “I smell some others down there!” and Sasha pauses to look for a second before turning back around and going “let’s hope they haven’t crossed into (insert clan that I haven’t decided on)” or something and then a bigger animal comes out, maybe a semi-adult fox that’s big enough for cats to be like “f u c k” if they come across one. So Sasha and Marcy are immediately trying to figure out how they can come out of the situation alive while the fox is growling in front of them. Next thing you know, Anne, a fluffy ass Maine coon (I haven’t decided on another kind of cat) tackles the fox out of nowhere and gets away from its jaws. Now she’s a Maine coon, so when her fur rises, she looks bigger than she is, so the fox is a bit put off. So Anne keeps hissing and growling and occasionally swiping at the fox until it hits the road. Anne stays like that before calming down and going “are you okay” and Marcy, a bit stunned, nods while Sasha takes a bit to process before growling “we were fine, what are you doing in our territory” and Anne looks caught off guard and more than a little annoyed like “I was in the area and could smell two cats and a fox, and then I saved your tail” AND THEN IT BEGINS
Obviously Marcy and Sasha would have clan names since, y’know, clan cats, but I haven’t decided on those just yet. Anne is one of the cats who lives on that farm that I mentioned before. She, Hop Pop, Sprig, and Polly all live there. They still have all their names because like- farm cats, not clan cats. Sprig is like the age of an apprentice cat, Polly is an older kit of course, and Hop Pop is obviously an elder. Anne, Sasha, and Marcy are like- just newly made warrior age, I would say
My whole idea was just kinda them, and other Amphibia characters turned into cats, constantly having run-ins with Anne and constantly having to report it to their leader (maybe Grime?? Idk, I haven’t thought that far yet) before the leader is like “interesting. Bring her in the next time you see her, I have some matters to discuss” because the leader wants the farm to be an area for them to take advantage of and secretly expand their territory. NOW- it has been a hot minute since I’ve read a Warrior cats book, so a lot of stuff might be flimsy or inaccurate. Also I debated having Marcy as a medicine cat, but honestly, I feel like that could both help and hurt the au. Like it would be interesting interactions between Marcy and Anne, because I do plan on making this into a marcanne thing since I don’t ship any of the other ships, but it would also minimize those interactions. SO I feel like it would be great if Andrias was the leader of whatever clan and he was still an evil cat with ulterior motives, while Grime could be deputy. Marcy wanted to be a medicine cat, but Andrias kind of *strongly* suggested that Marcy would be better as a Warrior cat, so she sadly gave up being a medicine cat
That’s all that I have so far
But also like- human warrior cats au- which kind of defeats the purpose, but I really can’t and don’t wanna draw cat anatomy-

kraken bait 3: the moment of truth
the moment is finally upon us! no, not the actual expansion draft, that’s in 10 days. i mean my last (but best) installment of the kraken bait expansion draft theories!
this has been a long, long work in progress, basically since i posted the last one. i’ve asked nearly every hockey fan i know, as well as randomly messaging several friends and cool people on hockeyblr, for their ideas and opinions on their favorite team’s expansion draft situation. and as with my previous lists, i had my friend and capfriendly consultant corwin (@chaos-hockey) collaborating with me to make this semi-reasonable (largely against their wishes). i’ll be including commentary from myself and my variety of sources with each pick.
for reference, this is a somewhat plausible look at who seattle might take in the expansion draft. it’s not a prediction, because even i don’t honestly think the kraken will take some of these players, but it’s a fun simulation. it does follow expansion draft rules, and even comes under the cap (which took some last-minute finagling by me and corwin).
without further ado, let’s get into it! this list got long, so it’s all under the cut.
Anaheim Ducks: Haydn Fleury
this one comes straight from resident danton heinen fan, ergo ducks fan @dantonheinens, so thanks for your help casey! they sent me a very detailed explanation of anaheim’s expansion draft situation basically explaining that there’s a whole lot of “ands, ifs, or buts” with the ducks, but if fleury is exposed, he’s a slam dunk (slam duck? i’m sorry)
Arizona Coyotes: Christian Fischer
the one thing i know about this dude is he got wrecked in a fight with nathan mackinnon in the 2020 playoffs. this is the first of several picks on this list i borrowed from The Athletic’s mock expansion drafts, which happens if i don’t know the team and i don’t know anyone else who does. corwin and i also considered taking adin hill from the yotes, but we decided on some other goalies instead (stay tuned).
Boston Bruins: Jeremy Lauzon
i have a lot of friends who are bruins fans, so credits are owed to: corwin, casey again, alex (@patron-saint-of-boston-hockey) & luna (@kureally) & any other bruins fans in the nwhl discord, and my irl bruins friends. i got a lot of opinions on the bruins pick, including jake debrusk, jakub zboril, connor clifton, and trent frederic. but the one name almost everyone could agree on was lauzon. therefore, i’ve decided he’s headed to seattle.
(it feels worth it to mention that at the prospect of having to take someone from the bruins, corwin said “curses be upon your name!” in an aggressively thick boston accent)
Buffalo Sabres: Rasmus Asplund
i could not tell you who this is, other than the fact that he’s one of buffalo’s three rasmuses (rasmi?). corwin and i had also talked about maybe putting anders bjork here, like i did in the last go-around, but i defaulted to The Athletic this time, and they thought asplund was a good pick, so here we are.
Calgary Flames: Mark Giordano
another pick borrowed from The Athletic, but i’ve seen predictions of giordano to the kraken a fair amount. it just seems right (and a whole lot better than corwin’s proposition of matthew tkachuk from last round).
Carolina Hurricanes: Brady Skjei
this one comes from the lovely @summerteukka, so thank you kinga! she gave me a very good rundown on the canes and the expansion draft, with the conclusion being the canes have so much defensive depth that it’s definitely going to be a defenseman, and especially if they resign dougie hamilton, skjei seems to be a likely choice. i’m all for it- we’ll have “an S and a K and a J all next to each other” on a kraken jersey.
Chicago: Adam Gaudette
similarly to the arizona pick, corwin and i considered a goalie here- in this case, it would have been malcolm subban. but he is not one of the goalies we ended up going for. instead, we opted on bringing micaela gaudette and her husband back to the pacific northwest.
Colorado Avalanche: Ryan Graves
this is really a no-brainer. gravy is a good defenseman, but the avs have such a strong defense between cale makar, devon toews, and sam girard (and you could add erik johnson when he’s healthy), plus up-and-comers like bo byram. gravy will almost definitely be exposed, and i think he’s a great pick for seattle. plus it’s relatively painless for avs fans who also will like seattle (like yours truly).
(corwin also wanted me to mention that they want gravy traded to the bruins so he can play with curtis hall, who is basically “color-swapped ryan graves”)
Columbus Blue Jackets: Dean Kukan
another pick taken right from The Athletic. i do not know who this is, but he’s a defenseman and the writers liked this pick so i went with it. for the record, corwin really wanted this pick to be boone jenner because he has a funky name, but i wanted another defenseman, so the fun name was sacrificed for function.
Dallas Stars: Jason Dickinson
i don’t really have an explanation for this one. corwin and i were talking about the stars options and picking dickinson just felt right.
Detroit Red Wings: Vladislav Namestnikov
thanks are owed here to joce (@doubleminor) for her red wings expertise! she gave me a few players who were likely kraken bait and i picked from there. it came down to evgeny svechnikov and vladislav namestnikov, but i went with namestnikov in the end. he was with the avs for a brief period and i liked him then, plus the vibes just seem right, so here we are.
Edmonton Oilers: Tyson Barrie
really, tyson barrie was the player who started the whole kraken bait thing. corwin made the drawing, i made the first list, and the rest is history. do i actually think tyson will be going to the kraken in a week? not really. do i still really like the idea of it? 100%. therefore, i will continue to engage in my “tyson barrie to seattle” nonsense.
Florida Panthers: Chris Driedger
oh look, our first goalie! florida had some interesting skater options, but when it came down to it, corwin and i thought the cats were a good place to take a goalie from. driedger did pretty well this season, plus the panthers’ goalie situation is locked up between $10 million man bobrovsky and future star spencer knight.
Los Angeles Kings: Viktor Arvidsson
corwin was feeling pretty strong about this one, so i’m trusting their judgement. according to them, seattle expressed interest in arvidsson, so nashville traded him to the kings instead of giving him up for nothing. now the kings get to give him up for nothing, which works out pretty well, considering i had absolutely no clue who to pick from the kings.
Minnesota Wild: Matt Dumba
like some other picks, this just seems right. i like matt dumba a lot. he seems like a fun and wholesome guy, and his activism, both on his own and with the hockey diversity alliance, is admirable. i hope he gets to display his personality and keep working to better the sport of hockey with the kraken.
Montreal Canadiens: Jake Allen
goalie number two! picking a player from the habs was weird because i got attached to them during the playoffs, but i really don’t know many of their players? so corwin and i deliberated on this a little, and after looking at our goalie situation, decided that allen was the right pick from montreal.
Nashville Predators: Calle Jarnkrok
after doing art for and getting a featured article from the preds, corwin thinks they’re some kind of nashville expert. i originally had matt duchene here, but corwin said not him. their logic? they did art of duchene for their preds project, so they probably want to keep him around. fair point. so we went with calle jarnkrok. the logic behind that choice was simple: “calle jarn-kraken”
New Jersey Devils: Andreas Johnsson
i wish i kept a counter of how many times corwin told me “ron francis doesn’t care about your feelings!” when we were discussing the devils pick. they kept advocating for either nate bastian or mikey mcleod, but i would not stand for the superbuddies being separated. this is my kraken bait list, so my decisions. i asked a few of my devils friends for their input (props to sabs @jakejuentzel and h @bigmouthnatebastian), and in between the mild panic, andreas johnsson got tossed out. therefore, it’s mango getting shipped to seattle. does it further lower the average age of the devils? yeah, but it’ll be fine! the nhl could use some youthful chaos.
New York Islanders: Jordan Eberle
all of my kraken bait ideas for the isles came from the bardown breakdown podcast (a great listen if you like hockey and pop-punk/punk music!), since both hosts are isles fans. they had a few names tossed out, including josh bailey and casey cizikas, but corwin and i decided on eberle. like with a lot of these, right vibes.
New York Rangers: Kevin Rooney
i’ve seen two names pretty consistently for rangers kraken bait: colin blackwell and kevin rooney. is blackwell is better and therefore the more likely pick? yes. but kevin rooney is a former devil and also mocked tom wilson, so i voted he gets to go seattle.
Ottawa Senators: Chris Tierney
i don’t think i could name more than three, maybe four players on the sens, so i defaulted to The Athletic on this one. i have no idea who chris tierney is, but it works, so there we go.
Philadelphia Flyers: James Van Riemsdyk
@phillyjoel left some fantastic notes on the flyers kraken bait in the tags of my last list, giving me good evidence to tell corwin that for the last time, nolan patrick is not kraken bait. the argument i saw was that the flyers are probably going to trade patrick instead of giving him up for nothing and make cap space by giving away van riemsdyk or voracek. The Athletic liked the van riemsdyk pick, and corwin could live with it, so that’s where we settled.
Pittsburgh Penguins: Zach Aston-Reese
i honestly don’t have a whole lot of explanation for this one. another pick borrowed from The Athletic, corwin and i liked it, there we go. we considered going with kris letang, but the vibes weren’t right.
San Jose Sharks: Ryan Donato
shoutout to my sharks friend and amazing artist K (@18minutemajor) for their help! i originally had brent burns in this slot, on K’s suggestion (we had a fantastic exchange about brent burns befriending bigfoot). however, i ran into last-minute cap trouble and had to switch the pick. ryan donato came from The Athletic, but i think it’s kind of a fun pick. he’s been passed between a few teams recently, but most of what i know of ryan donato comes from the 2018 olympics (aka the first time i really watched hockey!), when he was apparently doing pretty well for team usa.
St. Louis Blues: Vince Dunn
thank you @powerblais (and the blues fans group chat) for your input on this one! vince dunn was one of the names on the list erin sent me, and The Athletic also had him listed, so we went with it.
Tampa Bay Lightning: Blake Coleman
thanks @heddy for responding to my out-of-the-blue message with some good input on the bolts! ana gave me some good suggestions like tyler johnson plus something else so they take on the contract, alex killorn, and ondrej palat. in the end, this devils fan defaulted to pickles. this pick is in the same category as tyson barrie- do i actually think coleman is going to the kraken? not really. do i still like the idea? absolutely.
Toronto Maple Leafs: Travis Dermott
borrowed from The Athletic and some other kraken bait predictions, because everyone has something to say about the leafs. corwin and i waffled between dermott and alexander kerfoot for this pick, but we eventually settled on dermott to seattle.
Vancouver Canucks: Madison Bowey
this pick changed so much in just one day. we originally had braden holtby here because original kraken bait, but then i ran into cap trouble. so i switched it to zack macewen, following a pick by The Athletic. but then i wanted one or two more defensemen, so i switched to madison bowey, who was the other pick from The Athletic. after all that, it seems like the right pick.
Washington Capitals: Vitek Vanecek
our third and final goalie! corwin and i had our eyes on vanecek as kraken bait for a while- a young goalie with promise and room to improve seemed like the right pick for seattle. we briefly considered tj oshie--he’s from washington state, and corwin wanted to upset caps fans (we were talking during the first round of the playoffs)--but ended up back with vanecek as our pick.
Winnipeg Jets: Mason Appleton
last pick of the list! not much to say here, though. it’s a pick borrowed from The Athletic, but we went with him over the other option from the jets because he has a fun name. to quote corwin, mason appleton sounds like “an apple pie in a mason jar on skates.”
and there you have it folks, the final kraken bait list! if you want to know the specifics, we’ve got 3 goalies, 16 forwards, and 11 defensemen, and the total cap hit is 76.4M. i’m pretty doubtful that this will be the actual expansion draft lineup, but we’ll have to see how many, if any, picks corwin and i got right.
thanks again to everyone who helped me out, and i hope you enjoyed the chaos and commentary of the kraken bait lists!

Drabble-a-thon: One, Three Words
Title: Tender Curiosity Rating: PG-13 Relationships: Gabriel/The Russian, Past Gabriel/Johnny Trigger Warnings: Irresponsible drinking, drug use Brief Summary: I wasn't actually in love, but I felt a sort of tender curiosity.
Tumblr media
Upstate New York, Summer 2018 Kaleidoscope Johnson’s estate
4am
Sometimes Gabriel couldn’t help but to feel like he was living in some sort of F. Scott Fitzgerald novel. He felt like some aristocrat in the twenties or thirties. Who the fuck summered at their wealthy friend’s summer estate? Kale had his eccentricities, but inviting the whole art collective to stay at his home for the summer was definitely new. Of course, not everyone came for the entire summer. Most of the collective was just coming on the weekends, but Gabriel didn’t have a reason to stay in the city.
Delilah was visiting and didn’t want to see him, and his husband, no, ex-husband filed the divorce papers. There was no reason for him to be in the city, and so he was taking advantage of his friend’s hospitality, or rather his loneliness.
Gabe thought he rather enjoyed having people filling every inch of the estate. It was a rather large estate to begin with. Who the hell had a formal dining room, a casual dining room, and a semi-formal dining room? There were six rooms that Gabe would classify as a living room. Who needed that many rooms?
Besides, there were still six of them at the estate during the week. Well, okay. Six people who weren’t Kale, Gabe, and the staff. During the weekends there were about twenty people at the estate, but during the week it was just:
Jimmy, Kaleidoscope’s twenty-six year old boytoy
Steven, an artist, and the most annoying twink Gabe had ever met
Velvet, an artist who was tragically depressed by all the gay around her
Willy, a lesbian, part-time witch, full-time poet, who was trying to get Kale to join her coven
Destiny, Willy’s girlfriend, part-time lesbian and full-time witch
The Russian, a tourist who Kale met at a gay bar and brought home
The days were surprisingly not boring, which was what Gabe needed right now. Every night was a dinner party and an excuse to drink until four or five in the morning. Every day consisted of lounging around the manor, or the pool, or walking around the estate, or riding around the estate and, of course, art. There was so much art. Easels were a common accessory to every room. Sure. he wasn’t getting as much painting done as he wanted, but he was starting to feel in a better mental state. Long trips to the estate tended to help.
Still, that didn’t stop his insomnia. He’d gotten so used to sharing a bed that he was still having trouble sleeping through the night. At least when he had Bella, there was a baby in his bed, but here he slept alone. Well, sometimes he and Velvet cuddled, but other than that he slept alone. He was pretty sure Kale had invited the Russian home for Gabe’s personal entertainment. He was definitely his type, but he just wasn’t doing it for him, which was so fucking weird. He was hot, but there just wasn’t a connection there. The other man was definitely interested, but Gabe was just perpetually not in the mood.
Most of the evening activities had settled down and everyone had scattered throughout the manor house. Kale and Jimmy had gone up to bed. Steven was where he usually was at night, on the screened-in porch trying to master a night landscape that didn’t look dark or muddy. The lesbians had passed out in the media room to old episodes of Friends, which had left Gabe alone with Velvet and the Russian. His name was Gregor, but Gabe didn’t like thinking of him by his name. That meant he was attached and Gabe wasn’t going to grow attached to a stranger. The second Velvet started asking questions that ventured into the realm of ‘spooky,’ Gabe had excused himself to go to bed. That had been maybe an hour ago, but Gabe hadn’t made it that far.
He was stretched out on the window seat in the drawing room, a cup of herbal tea in hand and his sketchbook on his lap. It wasn’t the window seat he wanted to be sitting on, but the view was definitely better. There was grass and trees as far as the eye could see. There was an itch under his skin to draw, but he was tired. He’d done a little bit of sketching, but mostly he was allowing himself to get lost in his own thoughts.
“Bad dreams or haven’t been to bed yet?” The Russian asked as he came into the drawing room. He looked a little spooked, and Gabe almost felt bad for abandoning him. As much as he loved his friend, Velvet could be intense at times, but the Russian had been at the estate for a couple of weeks. Gabe would have thought he would have been used to her eccentricities by now.
“Velvet is a very dark girl, no? She want to know many things about Baba Yaga. She not going to…” He pressed his lips together as he tried to find the right word. While his English was normally better than Gabe’s, after a couple of bottles of wine, he had a hard time remembering some words. Not being able to figure out the right word, he dragged his finger across his throat and mimed being dead.
Laughing, Gabe sat up and shook his head, taking a sip of tea, grimacing when he realized it’d gone cold. He set the tea aside and tucked his feet underneath him. “She’s harmless. Just a goth.” At the blank look, he added “She likes learning about death and horror. And wears a lot of black and crosses.” There was more to it than that, but Gabe figured that the other man knew the word, but just couldn’t remember it in his current state.
The Russian nodded as he sat next to Gabe despite there being plenty of chairs for him to sit in. Their thighs were touching, and Gabe didn’t necessarily care for the contact. He didn’t move away though. “Gabriel, am I not appealing to you?” He asked out of the blue.
He choked and looked at the other man. “What? No, you’re…” He forced out a laugh. “You’re gorgeous.” And maybe it hadn’t been Kale that the Russian had followed home from the gay bar. Maybe it had actually been him the entire time, and Kale allowed it because he was, well, Kale. “I’m just… broken. I’m not relationship material right now. Or even fling material for that matter.”
The Russian nodded, looking very serious, as though Gabe’s words prompted serious thought. “I go back to Moscow tonight.” He said, sounding pensive, but there was something else, something that Gabe couldn’t quite place. Suddenly there was a mouth on his, and by the time he was even able to register what had happened, the other man was standing up and pulling him to his feet. “Come to bed with me. Just for now. Let me help fix the broken.”
The look on his face just made him melt. As much as he complained about there being a stranger hanging out in their friend group, he had grown used to the other man’s company. Hell, he’d become accustomed to him joining him on the porch in the mornings when most of the house was still asleep. “Okay,” He said in almost a whisper as he let himself be led upstairs and into the other man’s room. “ I’m going to sound like a teenage girl, but I don’t go all the way. Everything else is fair game.”
The Russian laughed. “Whatever you want to give, I’ll take.”
3pm
A cigarette was pressed between Gabe’s lips as he leaned against the railing of the small balcony attached to the guest room that had been the Russian’s. With the exception of a minor appearance during lunch to grab food and coffee from the kitchens to take back to bed, he hadn’t left the Russian’s rooms, which were much smaller than Gabe’s own. A part of him was missing the tables and chairs that were on the balcony attached to his room. Although, he didn’t regret his choice of beds or bed mates.
Dressed in only the larger man’s sweater and nothing else, he cheekily waved down at Destiny and Willy who were settling down in the garden for their afternoon meditation. With a wink, he put out his cigarette and then walked back into the room, laughing at the surprised shouts and giggles that followed him inside when they realized that he’d been naked from the waist down.
“You’re trouble, you know.” The Russian told him as he finished packing up his bag. “But sweater you should keep. Looks better on you anyway.” He pulled Gabe to him and as a surprise to himself, he let himself go willingly. “Come to Moscow. I have private jet. Many things for you to paint and draw. Might not like some of the people, but I think you’d like Moscow. Much beauty there for an artist.”
Yesterday he wouldn’t have even considered the offer, but today he was actually thinking about it. For all his avoidance, the Russian was actually a very sweet man. Definitely a bear, and he could easily see any many falling for his charms, which was probably the real reason why Gabe had been avoiding him. As much as the divorce had been his idea, the thought of moving on had been too much for Gabe to handle, and the Russian could have been so easy to fall for.
He took Gabe’s lack of response for a response. “It was worth a shot.” He said ruefully as he pressed a kiss to the top of Gabe’s head. “Gabriel, you’re a good man. I hope you find whatever it is you’re looking for. And if you decide Moscow sounds nice, call me, hmm?”
Gabe laughed before leaning up and pressing a kiss to his lips. “You deserve better than me.” He told him. “I hope you find the person who makes you happy.” He whispered out. “I’m sorry it couldn’t be me.”
Gregor rested his forehead against Gabe’s. “Me, too.”
5pm
This time Gabe was standing on the front porch as he smoked his cigarette. The romantic in him (or maybe it was more like the romance novel reader in him) almost wished he had one of those long cigarette holders. It would fit his mood: the left behind man watching as his lover left in a taxi, rain pouring down in sheets. God, he’d spent far too much time with Kale; he was becoming far too dramatic in his old age.
Sighing as the taxi was officially out of his line of sight, he put out his cigarette and padded back into the house. He knew how he probably looked: hair askew, barefoot, torn jeans barely on his hips (he’d lost weight during the divorce) and still wearing that stupid sweater. The thing was he didn’t care if he looked like a damsel from a mass market romance novel. That’s how he felt.
Knowing that the rest of the house would be wandering into the sitting room for pre-dinner drinks soon, he headed there directly. As soon as he saw Willy and Destiny on the couch, he flopped his large body across both of theirs.
“Mr. Russia is gone then?” Willy asked, shifting the book she was reading to rest of Gabe’s shins. “I was half-expecting you to chase after him in the rain. I thought you repressed gays became extra dramatic in your later years.”
Before Gabe could respond, Destiny nudged her girlfriend before running her fingers through Gabe’s hair and massaging his scalp. “Don’t listen to her, sweetie. Your aura is finally calming back to its natural state. It’s been a mess of reds and blacks this summer, but it’s finally settling back to a nice ocean water blue. I think you’re finally moving on.” She didn’t let him say anything and he was half asleep by the time the others came into the room.
“Damn it.” Steven all but whined as he pulled out a twenty dollar bill and handed it over to Kaleidoscope. “How’d you know he wasn’t going to go.”
His mentor smirked. “Because he left his heart in New York City.” He sing-songed as he tucked his money into his pocket. “Besides Gabey promised not to abandon me all summer and he is a queen who keeps his promises.”
There was a scoff that had to have come from Jimmy. Gabe’s eyes were still closed, but it had to have come from him. Usually he started prepping the pre-dinner drinks and then Kale passed them out. “Isn’t that what I’m here for, Scope?”
Now Gabe opened his eyes and made a gagging face in unison with Velvet who pulled him to his feet and then dragged him onto the love seat. Immediately, Gabe’s upper body went into Velvet’’s lap, head propped up against the armrest so he could still drink, feet dangling over the over armrest.
“No, you’re here to satisfy my sexual appetites. Gabe and Velvet are here for everything else.” Kale sassed out without missing a beat, sweeping over to Gabe and Velvet to hand them their martinis. Each day had a different theme. Today they were blue, which meant they were likely going to wind up very very drunk and probably very very stoned.
As Kale continued to bicker with Jimmy and Steven wandered over to talk to the lesbians, Gabe found himself thinking about something the Russian had told him. “Vel,” He asked quietly. “Why did Gregor think you were going to kill us all?”
The silver haired thirty-something rolled her eyes dramatically. “I only wanted to know about the legitimacy of Baba Yaga.” She said sipping her drink. “And  I mentioned that this summer felt like a murder mystery novel, and that it would be so easy to just poison the wine.” The way she said it made it sound like she was talking about using water-based paint instead of oil-based.
Gabe choked on his martini and Velvet ran a comforting hand through his hair. “Don’t worry. I wouldn’t poison you. Everyone else on the other hand…” She looked over towards Steven and the lesbians wistfully.
“Remind me not to let you watch Bella again, okay?”
Velvet laughed, and Gabe slowly relaxed, ready for whatever adventures the evening would bring.

Meet Kate Tsang and Jennifer Cho Suhr, Creators of “Welcome to Doozy”
Tumblr media
Kate and Jennifer are award-winning, multidimensional filmmakers who bonded over being the food table hoverers at networking events. Others may schmooze; Kate + Jen sandwich. Their passion for food - and for their friendship - shines through in their short “Welcome to Doozy,” our 6th GO! Cartoon. I sat down with these very impressive ladies to discuss the bureaucracy behind imaginary friends, the importance of representation, and karaoke tea-time.
Sooo, how’d you two meet? Kate: We met in film school at NYU, where we were in the same Masters program. Jen: Kate took classes in animation - but I have no animation background, and, sadly, can barely draw...
What brought you together as collaborators? Jen: We were paired in the same production group our first week of school, and became good friends. Kate: We’ve since collaborated on each other’s class exercises, thesis films, and various arty things.
Partners in movie-making! What brought you to Frederator as a team? Kate: I’ve always had an interest in animation. I love Adventure Time and Bee and PuppyCat. So when Natasha Allegri posted on her blog about GO! Cartoons, I told Jen we should ‘go’ for it. Jen: We had - still have! - the concept for a full series prepared, so we actually pitched the show bible first and then reverse-engineered that into the short.
How did “Doozy” change throughout your development process? Jen: A lot, actually. Lou is a Kitsune fox demon now - she started out as an eyeball with cowboy boots! But the concept was always 2 girlfriends, a la Broad City, having misadventures. Kate: A little origin story: Ex (who has always been a rabbit) recently retired from being an imaginary friend. The Bureau of Imaginary Friends handles the re-adjustment of retired IF’s back into the imaginary world. So this is the story of Ex re-assimilating: finding a roommate in Lou, getting a job, and developing a crush on her coworker Skeletim. Jen: Skeletim stayed really consistent since the pitch - Eric (Homan, our VP of Development) always really liked him. We joke that Eric only stuck with us because of Skeletim.

How much are Ex and Lou based on you two, and who’s who? Kate: It’s a bit of a mix… Jen: But I’d say I’m more Ex, almost by default - just because Kate is so much more like Lou. Kate: I AM the mischievous one. Jen: And I’m the more... straight-laced one? I guess that’s the way to put it. Although! Kate is the one who does martial arts, like Ex.
What themes recur in your work? Kate: There’s always hopefulness in mine. I’m interested in outsiders, and finding whimsy and humor, even when things look bleak. I enjoy working in mediums where I can create wonderment. Like right now: I’m learning magic! Jen: I care a lot about representation and grounding stories in the realities of human relationships. The feature film that I’m developing now is inspired by my relationship with my sister. And with “Doozy”: it’s very specific to Kate and my identities as Asian Americans. Kate: Like incorporating the bento box, and the influence of Japanese anime and manga, of which we’re both fans. We were definitely inspired by Hayao Miyazaki’s way with food.
❀ A happy lil side note: one of the most popular Youtube comments on the short reads ‘A lot of people won’t know what a bento is but thanks to you, now they do!’ ❀
Jen: And we were conscious of the fact that most buddy comedies are about male friendships. We wanted to show girls being silly together and represent female friendship as it really is. Kate: That’s why Broad City was such an inspiration and even a motivator for “Doozy”. We were like ‘Ok, people do want to watch this.’
Tumblr media
I read recently that Broad City’s viewership is split almost evenly male/female - it’s actually something like 55/45, with more men watching than women. Kate: What? That’s awesome. Jen: It just goes to show that it all comes down to good comedy and strong characters. I’m actually about to have a baby boy which has made me think about the types of stories that I’ll read to him as he grows up. I’ve been thinking of some of my favorite YA books with female protagonists like Anne of Green Gables and A Wrinkle in Time… it’s important to me that he’s able to identify and empathize with female characters. The only reason that boys “wouldn’t be able to” as people say, is if they learn socially that they shouldn’t.
What are some cool things we’ll get to see if “Welcome to Doozy” gets a series? Jen: Well, let’s just say there are some nefarious happenings in Ex’s office…
Gasp! Not Mrs. Hugs! Kate: Nah, not Mrs. Hugs. She’s a true office drone, doesn’t know what’s really up. Jen: We’d also backtrack, to show how Ex and Lou came to be friends and roommates. Kate: And we’d get to introduce their pet popsicle, who lives in the freezer. Jen: And we’d get to see Lou working her job at a run-down mini golf course. She schemes and ~magics~ to keep it afloat. Kate: There’s an underlying mystery, and it’d be a lot of them screwing up while trying to investigate it.
What sorta stuff do you guys like to do together - any wild adventures? Kate: Actually, yes. We try to take a road trip together every year. So far we’ve done the Badlands, the Southwest, the Midwest, the South and New Orleans. Jen: Admittedly, the Midwest was probably the most boring… not to knock where I’m from. But here’s a story: when we were in Nashville - the biggest music town - we quickly realized that karaoke is different there and that everyone getting onstage was a pro or semi-pro country singer. And then Kate got up - Kate: I didn’t know any better. Jen: And sang an Amy Winehouse/Mark Ronson cover amid all this country music. Truly the new kids in town. And the audience TOTALLY ate it up! They loved it. Kate: We karaoke together a lot. Sometimes we rent a room for just the two of us… during the middle of the day… one might call us enthusiasts.
What cartoons do you guys like? Jen: Well, Kate and I have wildly different tastes. But we both love Adventure Time and Rick and Morty. Kate: And we share 90s cartoons, like Dexter’s Lab, Daria, and Invader Zim - Jen: But Kate likes things like Ren & Stimpy - which is too grotesque for me…
What about your favorite Studio Ghibli film? Jen: Spirited Away. Kate: My Neighbor Totoro.
Tumblr media
Last up: what are you working on now, and what’s your favorite thing you’ve made in the past? Kate: Favorite film I’ve made is “So You’ve Grown Attached” - “Doozy” inherited elements from it, like the imaginary friends, and the name ‘Ex’. Jen: I’m really focused on getting my feature financed right now, which we want to shoot this summer.
Oo-ooh! What’s it about, and who’s the star? Jen: The film is called You and Me Both and we have Constance Wu from Fresh Off the Boat as one of the stars (me = !!). It’s a drama with comedic notes about two sisters, one a struggling heroin addict, who take a road trip to find their birth mother. While it touches on some heavy topics like loss and addiction, it’s ultimately a love story between sisters… so if anyone is looking to finance a film, hit me up! As far as favorite work… I don’t know… Kate: What about “Saeng-Il”? (“Birthday” in Korean) Jen: Okay, “Saeng-Il” then.
vimeo
And Kate, what are you working on?
Kate: Eeeerrrrrr…. Jen: C’mon! Your feature! Kate: Okay, yeah, I’m working on a feature too. It’s a drama-comedy about a teen delinquent who teams up with a struggling party magician to battle her inner demons, strained home life, and avoid reform school. If anyone happens to know anyone who knows Catherine O’Hara - I’ve got a part for her.
youtube
You heard it here first, folks. Let’s snag financing for “You and Me Both” and Catherine O’Hara as Kate’s lead.
Thanks for taking the time, Kate and Jen! Great chatting with you, and best of luck on all of your projects. Can’t wait to see ‘em on the big screen (and also, little screens).

It has been about a year since your intervention and move to California. You have been sober since you moved to California, and clean from self harming for about 8 months. You were allowed to have an occasional drink, but never enough to get you drunk.
The mental health center was much better than what your mind made you think it would be. Your time at the center consisted of therapy sessions, medicines, and trying to figure out where you wanted to go and what you wanted to do. In better terms: What made you happy. Your father, Tony, was there for the first week and a half, but then he got called for a mission. You weren’t mad. You understood his life.
You found your love for art again. But the supplies were restricted for safety concerns. So you just stuck to drawing and painting. You also started to document your life. Not really journaling feelings and thoughts. There were some of those in there, but it was more of reflecting on what you did that day and what you want to or plan to do.
After 3 months, you were doing significantly better and wanted to get out. Carolina and you had discussed the idea of getting an apartment in California. She still wanted to be close by incase anything happened. She wasn’t comfortable with you going back to New York yet. Tony was invited back to the center for a talk with the two of you. He was worried, but then you said that it was about getting an apartment so you could actually live in California. He was more than happy to help you with that. So the three of you set to work to find a suitable place.
While California is a crazy and crowded place, you were able to live for yourself for once. You did things that you wanted to do and would make you happy. So trips to Disneyland, San Francisco, Warner Brothers, the Getty and other various locations were nice. You also found yourself expanding your love for art. You started doing more drawing and painting along with sewing, makeup, hair, and photography.
You kept working out and getting stronger. While you loved art and traveling, you couldn’t help but think about how you wanted to train with Steve and Natasha again and work towards becoming an Avenger.
That was one of the things you had come to find out about yourself during this year of work: You wanted to be a part of the team, for real. You know that with the help of Steve, Natasha, and Bucky, you could easily pass the test.
Speaking of the team, they came and visited a lot. Not so much when you were living at the center. Tony would make sure to call or have some form of contact with you 3 or 4 times a week. He was worried about you, but he could tell that this all was helping. So it eased his mind a little bit.
But once you got your apartment, Tony and Bruce flew out to help you unpack some stuff and then go shopping for houseware, groceries, and things you would need to be comfortable. Little did you know that the rest of the team snuck into your apartment while you three were out and surprised you with housewarming gifts and themselves. From that moment on, one or two of them would visit every so often. But you knew that they had missions and such, so you were just grateful to see them whenever they could come out.
One of the best things to come out of living out of the center and progressing on your road to mental health was Bucky. He had been true to his word and waited until he was able to visit you in order to talk about the feelings that you both had. You were doing better and you both decided to give it a shot. ow you two have been together for a little over 7 months.
You also decided that you two shouldn’t keep your relationship a secret. So he told a majority of the team when he went back to New York, and you told Tony and Bruce when they visited you again.
As much as you appreciated and enjoyed this past year of living out west and becoming a better person, you were ready to go back home to your family.
Carolina and you were leaning on the railing of your balcony. Since you moved, you felt more comfortable having your sessions in your apartment, and Carolina had no objections. You knew she likes tea, so you made some for her before getting ready to talk.
“You seem to be doing well, (Y/N). Your prescriptions still working well for you?”
“Yeah. I feel good. It’s definitely bittersweet though.” There was a bit of a pause before Carolina continued.
“Are you ready to go home?” Carolina watched as you thought for a moment.
“Yes, but I am still a bit worried. I am more than ready to be back with my family at home full time. I’m just scared about relapsing. I’ve heard plenty of horror stories of people who were in similar situations to mine and relapsing hard when they go home. Hell, I relapsed a little bit a month after being checked out of the center. I don’t want to fall again.”
Carolina took a deep breath and thought before speaking.
“Well, you know you don’t want to fall. I believe that as long as you keep holding onto that thought and add in your family, you will stay strong. You have your support system, you have Bucky for more personal thing, and if things get really bad, you still have me. Even though you’ll be in New York, I will keep in touch and check in. Just remember what we kept saying during our sessions every so often: You will not fall. You are not alone. You are strong. You are badass.”
You smiled at Carolina’s words. Thinking about being with Bucky more made your heart swell. And the last part was a reference to something your dad had said during the intervention about a year ago. “You are a Stark, which means that you are inherently a badass. We just gotta bring that inner badass out.”
“Yeah, I made it this far, I’m not gonna restart that.” You both stood there for a moment in silence, drinking your teas. Then a knock at the door startled you. Opening it, it was one of the movers that came to pick up a majority of your things. Once he left, Carolina gave you a questioning look.
“I thought Tony and Bruce would help you move out?” You kind of smirked at that.
“Yeah, I told them to stay home. That I wanted my last few days here alone so I could say goodbye. I somehow managed to convince my dad to let me fly out of LAX like a semi-normal person. He insisted on paying for the ticket and getting first class. But a 5 or so hour flight in first class is not something I’m going to argue against!” You both laughed until you looked at your watch and realized it was 6 o’clock.
“I actually have to finish up a few things before my flight. I got an early morning flight, so I am really just pulling an all nighter to finish packing before dealing with traffic to the airport.” Carolina nodded.
“Smart. I’ve done that on a few occasions.” She smiles at you before hugging you. You gladly hug back. When she pulls away, she has her hand on your arm. “I am so proud of how far you’ve come and I can’t wait to see how far you’ll go. Please stay in contact.”
“I will, Caro. Thank you so much for all that you’ve done for me for the past year. I am truly grateful.” You both hug one more time before she wishes you safe travels as you lead her to the door. You have the last of your leftovers before heading to your room to finish packing your clothes and last minute items.
Next Stop: Home!
~~~~~~~~
Even though your flight was scheduled to leave at 6AM, it was delayed until 8AM. The flight was about 5 hours, but with the time difference you ended up getting into JFK airport at around 5PM.
You were kind of disappointed to see one of the Shield agents holding up a sign that said “(Y/N) Stark” on it instead of anyone from the team. But you realized that having them in a very crowded airport would definitely draw attention and cause a scene. So you got your luggage and followed the agent to the car. In the car was a small bouquet of your favorite flowers with a small note.
Welcome home, sweetheart! We are so proud of how much you have done! When you get home, drop off your stuff and change! See you soon!
- Dad
You were confused about the last part until you went into your room and saw the dress hanging against your bathroom door. Friday came online.
“Welcome home, Miss Stark. The dress is from your father and Natasha. There is also a note on your desk for you. Do you need anything else?”
“No thanks. I’m good, Friday. It’s nice to hear you again!”
 “Thank you, miss. Have fun tonight.”
You quickly freshened up and got dressed. As you were putting your shoes on, you saw the other note on your desk.
(Y/N) -
 Natasha picked out the dress cause apparently I know nothing about women’s clothes. Head to the kitchen when you’re ready!
Love you!
 - Dad
You did another look over in your mirror, and fixed your hair a bit before suddenly getting nervous. You had no idea why you were really nervous, but your stomach was all tingly and your lungs were a bit tight. Taking a minute or so in the elevator to do some deep breathing helped immensely.
The doors opened and you were flooded with the various voices you have come to know and love throughout your life. No one had heard the elevator ding, so you just quietly made your way to the entryway of the kitchen.
You hadn’t seen anyone from the team in about a month. You spent a lot of your last month in California going back to your favorite places and really spending time with yourself. So seeing everyone sort of dressed up nicer for your welcome home dinner was a very nice sight.
Tony was busy working on something on the stovetop while talking to Rhodey. A few people noticed you casually standing there, but didn’t say anything. Instead, they flashed huge smiles and then watched Tony to see when he would realize. They all knew how badly your dad missed you. He did realize that it got quiet all of a sudden. It wasn’t until you spoke up that he found out why.
“Is that Tony Stark actually cooking a meal for once?” You said sort of jokingly.
Your dad turned and saw you, a few tears threatening to spill over his lashes.
 “Not even back for an hour and you’re back to sassing me.” He said with a growing smile on his face. Rhodey took over watching the stove while Tony quickly walked to you and gave you one of the biggest hugs he has ever given you.
“God I missed you, kiddo!” He said as he almost crushed you in his arms.
“I missed you too, daddy-o.” You both laughed a little. He pulled away and left a big kiss on your forehead before turning back to the team. They each came up to you one by one and gave you hugs and kisses. Some of them tearing up a bit.
 The rest of the night was perfect. Everyone sat around and ate dinner together, talking about the trips you took in Cali, what’s been going on in New York, and some of the recent missions a few of them were on. You sat comfortably next to Bucky, his hand relaxing on your thigh.
 It was Natasha that raised her glass and silenced everyone.
“To (Y/N). Well all knew how strong she was, and now we get to see her badassery in action. We are so glad to have you back.” Everyone clinked glasses and drank. Steve then spoke.
“So (Y/N/N). We know you’ve been training out west too. You think about taking the test?” He was talking about the test that they had set up to see if someone could physically be a part of the Avengers. Tony almost instantly tried to defend you.
“Woah woah woah. She just got back in town and you’re already jammin--”
“Actually… I have. I want to. I think I could do the test. And I may have also drawn up some sketches for an Iron Woman suit for extra protection that might make you feel okay about all of this.” You gave your dad a sort of nervous look. He was surprised but smiled back at you.
“Well damn. I guess we’ll just have to see what we can do about that.” You smiled as the rest of the team hooted and hollered around the table. You let out a sigh of relief. That was one nerve-wracking thing out in the open. Bucky then leaned and whispered in your ear.
“One thing down. Now how do you plan on telling him the other thing?” You looked at him with a nervous face, playing with the small ring that has been on your finger for the past two months.
“I have no idea. Maybe not in front of everyone as soon as I come home?” He nodded and kissed your temple. Then you both rejoin the conversations around the table.
This is your team. Your friends. Your family. And you were so thankful for them.
It's OK to admit if you're more than a little curious about eyelash extensions, specifically now that this appeal pattern has actually extended beyond your preferred celebs to the moms at your kids' soccer video games. " Women like extensions since they can make lashes appear fuller and younger looking, while entirely removing the requirement for mascara," Clementina Richardson, a celeb lash artist and founder of Envious Lashes in New York City, informed TODAY Style. However while the concept of a simplified makeup regular noises terrific, there's still the question of whether extensions healthy and safe or if they're worth the time and loan. It's clear that not everyone sees eye to eye. Heather Muir, beauty director of Genuine Simple and Health magazines, has actually been wearing extensions consistently for the last 8 years. "I'm hooked! I can wake up and begin my day eye makeup-free, yet still look done. Plus, they offer me a self-confidence boost," she said. However some doctor warn that security often boils down to finding an experience specialist. " No doubt, this person requires to be well trained, as I'm seeing increasingly more patients with injuries caused by extensions, some of which can threaten a woman's vision," said Dr. Rebecca Taylor, M.D., scientific representative for the American Academy of Ophthalmology. "Anyone who experiences an infection, any swelling, an allergic reaction or an obvious loss of natural eyelashes should see an ophthalmologist right away." Here's a guide to the benefits and drawbacks eyelash extensions pros and cons in addition to a few pointers on how to prepare and maintain them. What are the various types of eyelash extensions? Made from mink, sable, synthetic mink, silk, cashmere or synthetic acrylic, extensions are available in a range of material and curl alternatives. " It's important the curl on your extension follows the curl of your natural lashes, which is why I think about the application process an art, never a one-size-fits-all procedure," said Richardson. "With many different face shapes, it is very important for your lash stylist to find out the best look for you and your lifestyle." For how long do eyelash extensions take to apply? " The initial process lasts about 2 hours, while touch-ups, suggested every two to three weeks, can use up to an hour," stated Richardson. A single lash extension, ranging in size from 6 to 18 millimeters, is fastidiously attached-- one by one-- to the base of the natural eyelash. Just how much do eyelash extensions cost? No matter what your extensions are made of, your bank account is going to take a hit. Pricing differs depending on where you live and your specialist's level of experience, but prepare for paying out anywhere from $150 to $350 for a full set of lash extensions (80 to 150 lash extensions per eye), and after that another $75 to $100 for touch-ups every 2 to 3 weeks. " You might want to consider a partial set, which will cut the cost and time in half, while still including density to your existing lashes," said Jennifer Garcia, a senior lash stylist at Maud's of Beverly Hills in California. "And although natural hair is more pricey, if you're allergic to animal fur, it's best to stay with a manufactured product." Are eyelash extensions unpleasant? You might feel distressed with tweezers running so near your eyes, but you should not feel any pain. "Your eyes are closed throughout the process," Richardson explained. The length of time do eyelash extensions last?
Unfortunate to say, however you'll lose the extension when you lose your natural lash, which is about every 6 to 8 weeks. "Females shed about 20 lashes per week," said Garcia. Are eyelash extensions safe? " Lash extensions are simpler to ruin than to solve," said Richardson. A quick view of YouTube videos (" Lash Extension Horror Stories!") verifies there can be some major repercussions if you fall into the hands of an unskilled specialist. Somebody lacking in training can utilize excessive adhesive, leading to clumped lashes, or they can glue a single lash extension to numerous natural lashes, leading to much more clumping and even damage. " Lashes grow at different rates-- if you glue 2 together when only one is ready to shed, it can take out the other prematurely," keeps in mind Richardson. Which is why it is essential to investigate your specialist. Discover for how long she or he has been applying extensions, read online evaluations, look at his/her prior to and after Instagram pictures and verify he/she's state certified and operating at a trusted establishment. Extension adhesives that contain formaldehyde can set off an allergy, so it is essential your specialist uses a medical grade, formaldehyde-free, non-irritating glue. "If you see any burning or tearing during the application, ask your lash stylist to stop right away," stated Taylor. The gel patches used to hold down your lower lashes, which may include active ingredients including collagen, aloe and hyaluronic acid, can also cause irritation, especially if you have delicate skin (some stylists choose to utilize medical-grade tape to cover the bottom lashes, however even the tape's adhesive has been know to trigger allergies). Dr. Joshua Zeichner, director of cosmetic and medical dermatology at Mount Sinai Health Center in New York City City, told TODAY Style that he's "not a fan" of the appeal treatment.
Tumblr media
" While they look attractive, they can be connected with allergies and inflammation of the skin and can cause damage, in some cases permanently, to your natural eyelashes," he said. Beyond glue problems, there's likewise traction alopecia to think of. "It's when the natural lash is lost-- either temporarily or permanently-- due to the stress and grip the extension has placed on the natural lash," stated Taylor. "You need to keep in mind eyelashes serve an important purpose; they sweep debris away from your eyes, maintaining your vision. Losing them momentarily is damaging enough, however if they never ever grow back, you're setting yourself up for a life time of eye issues." Can I wear mascara with eyelash extensions? Lash extensions enable you to ditch your mascara, eye liner, and lash curler, conserving you time in the morning. "Mascara can clump on extensions, however if you feel the requirement to stroke on a few coats before a big night out, be sure to use a mascara that's water-based, contains conditioning components like vitamin B5, and is developed for easy elimination," recommended Garcia. She suggests Xtreme Lashes Length & Volume Mascara. How to take care of eyelash extensions: If you observe your new lashes are flaking off, there's a great chance something has actually disrupted the adhesive bond. Prevent getting your lashes wet for the very first 24-- two days, as water can weaken the glue before it has the chance to set. Steer clear of oil-based eye products, cream-based eye liners and waterproof mascaras, which can be challenging to remove even under normal circumstances. Never ever use a cotton pad or swab, which can snag the extension, pulling it out. If you're a stomach or side sleeper, think about a silk or satin pillowcase in addition to a nighttime application of a lash topcoat. "I see a big difference in lash retention rates when customers utilize a sealant to help resist dirt, oil and makeup," stated Richardson. How to tidy eyelash extensions: Use an oil-free lash cleanser created specifically for eyelash extensions, as some items contain active ingredients that can weaken the bond and cause extensions to shed prematurely.
youtube
Muir advises this makeup eliminator because it's oil complimentary and should not mess up the adhesive bond of the extension. "In the morning and night, I carefully brush my extensions with a spoolie to keep them clean and detangled," said Muir. Colored and lower lash line extensions: Colored lashes remain in fashion this season, kept in mind Richardson, who likes to pick colors that complement a customer's natural eye color. "For instance, purple will make green eyes appear more intense and brown eyes bigger, while green paired with hazel eyes produces a beautiful wash of color," she stated. Applying colored lashes will include about 30 extra minutes to the process, as they require more idea in regards to placement. " Eyes are not naturally balanced, one might have more lash density or the lashes might grow in different patterns," stated Richardson. "Colored extensions draw more attention to the eyes and it's pretty visible when one eye holds more color than the other, so the goal is to keep the upper and lower lashes looking even." Another big pattern? Adding extensions to the lower lash line. " A lot of females use eyelash extensions-- black or colored-- on their upper lashes only, but bottom extensions are now getting in appeal as they make your eyes appear bigger by producing balance with your upper lashes." If you haven't ever dyed your hair (in a beauty salon or in the house), coloring it for the very first time can be quite challenging. To the rescue: Hair color specialists Kari Hill, hair color ambassador for L'Oréal Paris, and Tracey Cunningham, Redken's creative specialist for color (and Lily Aldridge's colorist), who shared their expert pointers for what you definitely need to know prior to coloring your hair. 1. Book a 15-minute assessment prior to booking your actual appointment. It's essential to be on the same page with your colorist in terms of what you want, and depending on several elements, real hair color appointments could take as low as an hour to finish, or they could require 2 various consultations. If you schedule a visit without a consultation initially, you'll likely not book it for the proper amount of time you'll require to accomplish the appearance that you desire. That's why Hill says it's an excellent idea to meet with the colorist ahead of time, so you both can choose the look, shade, and strategy that will finest suit you.
2. Decide how often you wish to be coloring your hair prior to embracing your visit. If you do not wish to be doing your roots every 3 weeks, speak out. Hill states having an open dialogue with your colorist will let him or her understand how light or dark to take your hairs, and how much color to put in your hair the very first time. If your colorist knows how frequently you want to come in for touch-ups, they can quickly narrow down the color that you'll really be able to keep. 3. Use Instagram to look into different colorists you may want to go to. Many colorists have Instagram pages and will post before-and-after pictures that you ought to think about when deciding which colorist to go to. Hill suggests doing a little research to see what else they have actually done, which can provide you color motivation if you're not exactly sure what you want. 4. Another excellent resource to utilize when looking for a colorist is an app called StyleSeat. Cunningham recommends using this app when looking for hairdressers in your location to see pictures of their latest work. You can likewise read consumer evaluations and book a consultation if you like what you see. 5. Bring in images of what you desire. Hill says it's hands-down essential to generate photos of the looks you desire. That way, you and your colorist both share your vision. If it's your very first time and you're unfamiliar with coloring terms, bring pictures so that she or he will have the ability to tell you what is required for that look and how much of a dedication it will actually be. 6. If you wish to change your color however aren't actually sure what it is you desire, reveal your colorist pictures of looks you don't desire. If you take a seat in the chair to consult with your colorist and say something like, "I don't know, what do you think?" you could wind up disliking your hair color, since you left the outcome entirely approximately him or her. That's why Hill says it's just as important to know what you don't like as what you simulate, and after that your stylist can then weigh in on what they believe will fit you and your skin tone. 7. Use a hair mask all over your strands the day before you enter to get your color done. This will hydrate your hair and prep it for the grueling color procedure. Hill recommends applying it to your hair and leaving it in for longer than the mask advises to make certain your hair is really hydrated. 8. Do not utilize a box color if it's your first time dyeing your hair. Cunningham states even if package of a semi-permanent color states it washes out in a couple of weeks, the artificial pigment color can stick around in your hair for many years (literally) and is extremely hard to "lift" later if you want to go lighter or add highlights. The majority of colorists can inform when you have actually utilized box color in the past because those areas of your hair tend to turn pink or orange tones when they go to raise the color. This leaves you with irregular hair color and a look you weren't expecting. 9. If you've never colored your hair before, Cunningham recommends getting something simple like a semi-permanent gloss or subtle highlights to boost your natural color. A gloss will add shine to your hair and a bit of pigment that will eventually vanish. Emphasizes that are really subtle aren't high maintenance and will grow out nicely. 10. Coloring your hair can make it more voluminous and much easier to style. Whenever you color your hair, it alters your texture. So if you get a gloss or a single process color, Hill states you might have a simpler time styling it because the color will open up the hair follicle, which will plump it a bit and in turn, make it much easier to develop volume.
Tumblr media
11. After you color your hair, you should change your hair shampoo and conditioner if you wish to preserve it. If you have actually never ever colored your hair prior to, you probably don't already own color-safe hair items. Ensure your shampoo and conditioner are produced color-treated hair. Hill suggests the L'Oréal Paris Advanced Haircare Color Vibrancy Collection. And toss out any clarifying shampoos you 'd typically use, which will strip away your new color. 12. To preserve your hair color, sun security is a must. Hats, scarves, and UV-protection sprays-- Hill suggests you use whatever you need to do to keep your hair color under wraps, do it. Otherwise, your hair color can turn brassy or dull a lot quicker than if it were to fade naturally. 13. You'll likewise require to safeguard your color from ocean or swimming pool water by soaking your hair in routine faucet water before hopping in. Seawater will dry your hair, and chlorine can damage blondes or make brunette colors brassy-- and in some cases turn your blonde a greenish tint. However, if you get your hair damp prior to hopping in (or apply conditioner all over it) as Hill recommends, any holes in the cuticle will be completed, keeping any salt and chlorine from soaking into your hair shaft. 14. You'll need to schedule an appointment for a conditioning treatment after you get back from a bright getaway. A great deal of people want to get their hair done prior to they go on a beach trip, but Hill states to keep in mind that you'll more than likely require a touch-up when you return. 15. It is difficult to approximate just how much a coloring visit will cost. Pricing varies a lot depending upon different elements, such as who you're seeing, what you're having done, and where your stylist is located. That research legwork is up to you!
WORLD OF RUGBY: Suddenly Eddie Jones has a glut of great No 7s
Sale versus Bath was a direct match with an intriguing sub-plot which will give Eddie Jones food for thought. It was a night of the jackals which showcased a positive problem for England.
For years, the national team struggled with a shortage or breakdown specialists, now here was a club fixture featuring three of them.
Tom Curry is England's incumbent No. 7 and Sam Underhill is fit again, back in the Bath side and ready to challenge his Sale counterpart for a place in the Red Rose back row. Ben Curry – Tom's identical twin – has not been on Jones's radar but he should be.
England's incumbent No 7 Tom Curry snuff out of a Bath attack on Friday night
The contest between these magnificent rookies was absorbing, which was certainly not the rest of the match in Salford. The fact that Sale won 6-3 was down in large part to the impact of their brilliant brothers. And the fact the score was so low was down in large part to all three junior jackals.
They did their jobs well – perhaps too well; getting over the ball, poaching, spoiling and ending promising attacks. It started with Underhill winning a turnover in the second minute, despite both Currys doing their best to shift him. Just before the break, the Shark Twins joined forces to win a ruck penalty.
In the closing stages of the game, the influence of the trio reached a peak .. Underhill won another turnover 10 minutes from time to halt Sale's charge towards Bath's line. He repeated the trick with his side under siege in their 22 five minutes later.
Then Tom Curry played in kind in the 78th minute and the final act of the match was Ben Curry's tackle forcing an Underhill fumble and Tom Curry clearing the ball off the pitch to seal the home win.
Both Tom Curry – a stand-out star of the Six Nations – and Underhill will surely go to the World Cup, even if England only take five specialist back-rowers.
And there's no reason why Jones can't consider playing them in tandem; deploying two opensides together and do to other teams what Wales did to England in 2013, when Sam Warburton and Justin Tipuric combined to deadly effect.
Bath's Sam Underhill is fit again – he is a tackle machine and an improved carrier
The pair have complementary attributes. Underhill is a tackle machine and an improved carrier, while Curry is a dynamo in defense and attack; an athletic, dexterous link man, who can also become a decent lineout option.
By rights, Ben Curry should be in the World Cup mix too. He has a similar repertoire to his brother, similar presence, relentless energy and consistency.
His time will come later, but just as the jackal role is coming under threat on safety grounds, England have real clout in this critical area. If it comes down to either-or-choice at openside, Tom Curry holds the aces for now, but just imagine the havoc he could wreak with Underhill – or with his twin.
The way this Premiership season has unfolded presents a strong argument for doing away with the play-off semi -finals. Whether course, the fairest system or all would be a reversion to the traditional league model, but sadly that ship has long since sailed.
Exeter and Saracens are currently operating on a different level to their rivals. They should go head-to-head at Twickenham for the title and they probably will, but if there was a freak result the week before, it would represent a major miscarriage of justice.
It won't happen, but they should do away with the semis. Maybe there can be a 'plate' prize for the teams finishing third and fourth – with their own decider at Twickenham prior to the main final. Make it pay well and clubs would take it seriously enough.
EDWARDS COULD BE THE MAN TO LIFT LES BLEUS
What a time to be Shaun Edwards. Wales' latest Grand Slam – and the manner of it; founded on defensive resilience – has been served as a timely means of polishing his golden CV and made him the subject of a stampede.
Wales want to keep him. Wasps were pursuing him. So were Leicester. Now it appears that France wants to hire him, having confirmed that Fabien Galthie will take over as head coach after this year's World Cup.
Just imagine what wonders Edwards could work across the Channel. There is certainly plenty of scope for improvement.
One day, if the French can be a coaching staff to truly bring the best out of them, they can be a global force again. Being part of that would be an appealing prospect. It would be understandable for Edwards to be sorely tempted …
France want to hire Wales" Grand Slam-winning coach Shaun Edwards
Can anyone recall the last time Alex Goode had a bad game for Saracens? Seriously. The full-back is a phenomenon.
The champions' artful dodger set up a try against Wasps with the sort of effortlessly nimble, visionary assist which have long leg his trademark. He is up for the European Player of the Year prize and by rights he'll be on all the domestic award shortlists too.
Welsh rugby's Judgment Day double-header at the Principality Stadium featured the UK trial of a new gimmick; posts lighting up green or red, to indicate whether a kick was successful or off-target.
The concept appeared to draw a mixed response from those watching in the stands or on TV, but in a large arena, it seems like a good way of visually engaging the audience – especially those sitting furthest away from the action .
If the color-coded verdict is delivered swiftly, it is a bright idea in every sense.
Saracens' domestic dominance doesn't just apply to the men, as their women's team sealed a second successive Premiership title on Saturday, by beating Harlequins 33-17 in the final at Franklin's Gardens.
It was a shame that just 2,590 spectators attended the showpiece fixture. The women's game is strong in this country and hopefully public recognition will follow, as it has in France, where big, partisan crowds turn up to support the national side.
LAST WORD
Leicester's 23 -20 defeat at home to Bristol on Saturday means they still haven't ensured their Premiership survival.
With Newcastle's cause appearing increasingly hopeless, the Tigers will surely stay up, but another demoralizing result confirmed that Welford Road's fortress status lies in ruins. In 15 games there this season, Leicester have lost nine times.
That's a shocking affront to their heritage. The post-season review must be lead to profound, top-to-bottom change. The Tigers won't rebuild their fortress until they rebuild their pack.
And the sight of Harry Thacker – who was allowed to leave – scoring the decisive try to continue his outstanding season for Bristol emphasis the urgent need for Leicester to once again prioritize developing local talent and keeping hold of it.
Leicester's defeat at home to Bristol means they still haven't ensured their Premiership survival
WEEKEND ROUND-UP
Impatient sledge
Harlequins prop Joe Marler was frustrated waiting for Exeter's scrum-half to box kick from the base of a ruck and yelled: 'Hurry up! You're f *** ing boring me. "
Sign of progress
Officially they are" Benetton "but this column will persist with calling them Treviso – but whatever they're called, they've become the first Italian side to qualify for the Pro 14 playoffs.
Damning verdict
After playing on the artificial surface at Kingston Park, Northampton flanker Jamie Gibson tweeted pictures of his bloodied knees and said: "Still not sure I'm much of a fan of the 4G."
Fast start
Ollie Devoto claimed Exeter's first try against Harlequins just 83 seconds into the match, after a thunderous blast through the midfield by the Chiefs' powerful flanker, Dave Ewers.
Fast exit
Poor Ben Moon was only on the field at Sandy Park for a few seconds when he was sin-inned. The England prop was the scapegoat as Exeter conceded a seventh scrum penalty.
Scoring streak
Until recently, huge Wallaby lock , but after a brace of tries against Quins a month ago, he struck in glorious, galloping fashion at Wasps.
Try of the Week
Lima Sopoaga went over for Wasps after Marcus Watson brilliantly claimed a high ball and cut loose, then Joe Simpson charged-down and Kearnan Myall off-loaded well.
Pass of the Week
If Northampton ever have all their hookers fit, Reece Marshall is fourth choice, but he was first rate on Friday with a surge and wrap-around off-load to set up the Saints' second try against Newcastle.
