Alright guys, here I am. Four years late to SatoGou.
***
Satoshi sat propped up against the tall tree, resisting the urge to nod off beside his slumbering Pikachu. How long had they been out in this forest anyway? These were all Pokemon that he had seen and caught before, with his old pals. And while he admired Gou’s vigour, the guy had an enthusiasm for the Pokedex that rivalled his own, he was getting bored. The humming of Beedrill and Venomoth was lulling him to sleep.
Conversely, Gou was exploding with energy as he dashed about the clearing, sending Pokeballs flying every which way. Even little Scorbuny was lagging, struggling to keep up with its determined trainer. While in pursuit of a wild Venonat, the rabbit Pokemon stumbled a bit before collapsing onto the soft grass with an exhausted huff.
“Yo, Scorbunny!” Gou bent down to check on his partner, his sweatshirt riding up his back as his rear went into the air.
Now this was a sight Satoshi didn’t mind. His hand slid down to the crotch of his tightening shorts and suddenly he felt very awake. “Hey, Gou,” Satoshi called out as he crawled sneakily towards the other boy, “I found a fat Metapod for ya.”
“Really? I don’t think I have that one yet, Thanks Satoshi!” Oblivious to his rival’s facetiousness, Gou continued to jostle Scornbunny, “If I could just get lazy bones over here to wake up-”
A lascivious grin spread across Satoshi’s  face, and he resisted the urge to laugh, which would blow his cover as he approached Gou. “Yup, it’s right…here!”
Satoshi pounced like a hungry Arcanine, wrapping his arms around the unsuspecting Gou. The tent in his shorts expanded further now that it had finally made contact with the other boy’s ass.
Gou let out a yelp before fumbling for the Pokeballs in his pockets, quickly storing  Scorbunny away before it could wake up and bear witness to his ‘assault’. “S-seriously, man?” Gou sounded irate but the strong blush that painted his features gave him away.
“Gooootcha!” Satoshi laughed as he began to rock his hips, excitedly.
“You really can’t-nghh! Control yourself, can you?” Gou said lowly, with a smirk.
“Not with you around…” Satoshi replied honestly. He slipped one of his eager hands underneath Gou’s sweatshirt, and crept it up until his fingers met…spandex. “Oh come on!” he groaned in defeat, struggling to get his fingers under Gou’s binder. “You don't have to wear that dumb thing when it’s just the two of us,” he pouted.
Gou stuck his tongue. “Come on, dude, get off me so I can take it off-whoa!”
Without warning, Satoshi yanked on the garment with both hands, sending it and Gou’s sweatshirt over his head. “Heh, I think I got it,” The spikey-haired trainer boasted. His hands resumed their desired position, cupping Gou’s small breasts.
A quiet moan escaped Gou’s lips. He’d be lying to himself if he said this contact was anything other than heavenly, however, he could not help but also feel rather exposed like this. Sure, the two of them had fooled around in his bunk bed back at the Sakuragi Institute, where Prof or Koharu could walk in at any moment. There had even been times when Gou had squeezed Satoshi’s butt or given him a peck on the cheek in public when no one was paying attention. But actually going at it outside?
“Satoshi…” Gou whispered, “What if someone sees?”
“Like who, Venonat?” Satoshi teased, “That guy does have really big eyes…”
Gou rolled his eyes, but couldn't stop himself from laughing, “Seriously dude, what if another trainer finds us?”
“Eh, no one’s gonna come.” Satoshi muttered nonchalantly, “Plus, Pokemon do it out here all the time.”
“You’re so dumb,” Gou laughed, though he could not deny something was alluring about the idea of getting railed in the wild…not that he and Satoshi had even done it for real yet and their first time probably would not be here. His briefs grew wetter at the thought, combined with the sensation of Satoshi’s tip rubbing brazenly against the slit beneath his sweatpants. “Satoshi?” He finally said.
“Yeah?”
“Bite my neck.”
The movement stopped and there was silence, save for the rustling of Pokemon in the greenery. Had he taken the joke too far?
“...Satoshi? Ah!”
Gou moaned desperately as teeth dug into his bare skin. Satoshi had picked up the pace of his thrusts, growling as he did so, the two bodies shaking violently in the secluded forest.
“R-roll over, Gou.” Satoshi panted, and Gou obliged, scrambling to wrap his arms around his neck and his legs around his waist.
Satoshi buried his face in Gou’s chest, sucking and nibbling aggressively, soliciting sounds sweeter than any Meloetta song.
It really hit the spot. The friction against his clit through the fabric of his damp pants, the ravishing of his sensitive chest. Gou couldn't help but cry out, hardly noticing the flocks of startled Pidgey erupting from the trees. It was nothing like the secret activities he and Satoshi shared in the Institute at night, out in the wild he could scream. He couldn’t imagine anything better than this, except maybe…
Satoshi gasped, then collapsed into Gou’s chest breathing heavily.
Gou ran his slender fingers through his friend's mess of black hair, before lifting his face to look into his eyes, “Did you have fun?” He asked breathily.
Satoshi nodded blithely as if in a daze, and leaned in to kiss him, moaning into Gou’s mouth as he sucked his bottom lip.
“Hey, Satoshi,” Gou started nervously. He took a deep breath, squeezed his eyes shut, and then finally blurted out, “Do you have…a condom?”
Satoshi pulled back, his face redder than a tamato berry. “No!” He exclaimed. Suddenly the brazen trainer was quite shy, “Why would I, uh, have one of those?”
Gou was even redder than he’d been when they’d started their frottage, “Ah, okay.” he murmured.
Satoshi regarded him with an apprehensive curiosity then swallowed before asking, “Why do you ask, Gou?”
Gou looked away, “I guess I just…like being close to you.”
An unspoken, and slightly awkward understanding rested between the two young trainers as they lay on the grass. At that moment it felt like they were the only two trainers in the forest.
“Yea…” Satoshi kissed him tenderly on the forehead, “Me too, Gou.”
All of a sudden, Gou giggled, first quietly, then he burst out into a full-on fit of laughter.
“Huh? What is it?” Satoshi asked, rolling onto his back.
“I was just thinking,” Gou spoke, finally collecting himself, “I bet we could get condoms from Professor Sonia and Leon.”
Satoshi’s eyes widened, “Really?”
“Duh! I know those two are going at it.”
“Does Professor Magnolia know?” He said in a whisper.
At that, they both grabbed their bellies as they guffawed, the tension in the air broken.
Gou sighed, before wiping a laughter-induced tear from his eye. “I love you Satoshi.”
“What was that?” Satoshi half laughed, half asked, still recovering from his own joke.
“Heh,” Gou turned to plant a kiss on Satoshi’s cheek, “It’s nothing, man.”

Pokemon Scarlet playthrough part the 8th: fighting a giant elephant in the dessert, finding a bunch more stakes, fighting a chef, and destroying a DJ's car with one kick
So I explored the dessert thoroughly, I'm happy I found a Larvesta and a Sandile (I love those Pokemon). Then I went to face the Ground Titan itself, the giant Great Tusk.
I knew going in to Scarlet that the Great Tusk was going to be one of the titans. So I was excited to face my first paradox Pokemon. Great Tusk looks super cool. I choose Scarlet because I like the past paradox forms more than I like the future ones.
When Arven strolled up and was like "the hell is that? is that even a pokemon?" I was like "duh it is a Pokemon" I mean Great Tusk really isn't that odd looking for a Pokemon, just because you haven't seen it before doesn't mean it's not a Pokemon, Arven. I think it makes more sense to say that for the future paradox version, because it's a robot.
So anyway the battles with Great Tusk went well, I do think I was pretty much on level here but it's hard to say for sure. I used my Rock Salt girl did the 'ol Salt Cure + staling strat. Arven's pokemon got targeted and got takened out almost immiodtly. My Rocky Helmet also helped immensely.
Arven's dog is now doing just a little bit better, and Kori can now glide. I still don't have swimming yet so I can't get to the dragon titan... unless I can get somewhere high enough and glide there. It's worth investigating...
After this I did the water gym test. Gym Leader just runs out and forgets his wallet so I have too bring it to him. His wallet looks like a Venonat, it's very cute!
So I had to go to that port town to get it back to him but luckily I've already been there so I just teleported there. I teleported to the lighthouse, climbed up, then glided around the town with Kori before I went to return the wallet.
After battling his rude assistant and giving his wallet back, my gym test was to win an auction. I wonder what the usual water gym test is because this whole thing is kinda spur of the moment. But I win and he tells me he'll be at the gym. The auctions are now open I tried a couple but backed up because the number went to high for me to agree to the prices.
I haven't explored the water gym's town very much. The sandstorm is killing my frame rate. So I'm to try to get it over fast so I can get my frames back. But I did find one of those ominous stakes behind the gym. I'm also overleveled and have both an electric type and grass type, this gym should be easy. I'll continue writing after I do that.
So I went ahead and fought him with my grass cat, as expected it was easy. I just kept using Flower Trick and knocked them all down like bowling pins, no Tera needed. Flower Trick is looking like a really powerful move what with always landing a crit.
I fought Nemona afterwards, she was also pretty easy. I didn't even really need a heal, the only damage I took from the Water Gym fight was from the sandstorm. Her Goomy caught me off guard because of Sap Sipper, but I still took it out in on shot with Night Slash. The rest also got taken down with Flower Trick.
Crazy Hair Lady, also known as Geeta, also known as La Primera, also known as Top Champion, also known as Pokemon League Chairwoman, has taken a real interest in me. She gave me Tera Blast which is epic, I have no idea who I want to put it on though, so It's just sitting in my bag.
The sandstorm was gone afterwards so I was able to explore the town for real. I met a girl who would trade Paldean Wooper for a regular Wooper. So I decided to briefly go catch one. But it became more than a brief trip as I started to explore an area I hadn't before. The area with the big swamp. There was a couple of old Pokemon I caught along with the Wooper.
But most interestingly I not only found the Stake I already some-what knew the location of and pulled it out. But I also found three more while exploring around. Judging by the looks of the door, which I was able to check, I only need 2 more stakes pulled out to open it.
So yeah, I'm going to do that Wooper trade, and then I'm going to go do my next Star Base Raid. Something funny I realized is that I've almost come full circle, I'm nearing the other side of Mezagoza, the area where the Bug Gym was. Maybe that's why everything seems kinda underleveled to me?
So I fought the Dark Star Base. They were very easy, lol. Indeed, it looks like places closer to the school are a lower level. My Flamingo took out both of the Team Leader's Pokemon in one hit, it was kinda funny.
So apparently this DJ guy was the student council president before Nemona. But the rules he came up with were strict as hell. Honestly, am not surprised people didn't like him for that. He seems to have chilled a bit since then. It seems he also made the rule about handing over Star Badges, I think.
I become more and more certain that Penny, Big Boss, and Cass are all the same person. I don't know why Penny's putting on such theatrics though. Penny maybe just call off Team Star? Instead of sending someone to beat them up. She also saying that she wants me to defeat her as well after I'm done with the others. I don't know what her reasons are but I guess I'll find out.
Also Kori giving her licks like a giant friendly dog is adorable! Next I'm going to go face another gym, I think it was flying? I should also be easy considering how close it is to the school.

Dawn of the Dark Chapter 3 - Satogou mpreg fic
This chapter can be found here on AO3.
Chapter 3 – Not a Coward
A fluffy sensation on his face allowed Goh to come to. “Hey… Stop it Cinderace, that tickles.”
The Pokemon that awakened him, however, was not Cinderace, but rather a flock of Mareep. “Mareeeeeep!”
“So…” Goh looked around; there were Mareep as far as the eye could see. He could even see a Shiny one in the distance. “This must be what heaven looks like. Then… am I dead? Did the Tauros kill me?”
“Mareep?” The Shiny Mareep bounced over, looking at Goh curiously. “Mareeeeep…”
“Hehehe…” Goh petted one of the Mareep. “Maybe this isn’t so bad. Except…!”
“Mareep! Mareep!” A few of the Mareep brought a mirror before Goh, urging him to investigate it.
“Oh…” Goh didn’t like what he saw - Ash and his loved ones crying over his grave. “Ash… No, Ash, I’m here!”
“Goh!” Ash cried.
Just then, Goh felt a slap to his face, but didn’t know who did it. “Ash! I’m here! I’m…” Goh looked around. After getting slapped, the Mareep disappeared, and he was brought back to reality. “…alive?”
“Goh!” Ash threw his arms around Goh. “Thank Arceus you’re okay!”
“Ash, were you the one who slapped me?” Goh sounded irritated. He looked out the window; it was now nightfall, and he could hear Venonat chirps outside.
“So that’s the first thing you say when you come back to Earth?” Ash sat back up and pouted. “The nerve!”
“…Then the answer is yes?” Goh shook his head. “N-Never you mind. You won your match, right?”
“You betcha!” Ash gave his Pikachu a fist bump. “The guy was no match for Pikachu and I.”
“Just as expected of Galar’s Champion…” Goh smiled, giving Ash’s left hand a kiss. “So… Where am I?”
A door to the room opened, and in came Nurse Joy. “You’re in the Vermilion City Pokemon Center, but luckily, you’re almost ready to leave. Just a little bit more of IV liquids, and you’ll be good to go.”
“IV…?” Goh looked around to see that, indeed, one IV needle each stuck out from both arms. “Yaaaaah! But why?”
Nurse Joy put some papers down on the desk in the room and began typing on a computer. “In addition to getting attacked by the Tauros, you also threw up multiple times on your way here and while we were treating you. You got severely dehydrated, so you needed some liquids, antiemetics, and nutrients.”
“All that from a Tauros attack?” Goh suspected that there was more to his condition than Nurse Joy was letting on. “I don’t buy it.”
“I don’t either.” While Nurse Joy spoke, one of her Chanseys came into the room, pushing an ultrasound monitor. “Which is why I would like to perform some tests. First, I’d like to take a blood sample to check for a blood infection. Secondly, I’d like to take an ultrasound of your abdomen. Is that okay?”
“Yes, ma’am.”
After Goh gave his consent, Nurse Joy used the IV to draw some of Goh’s blood while Chansey prepared the ultrasound. It was at that moment that Professor Cerise and Chloe came onto the scene. “Goh! I got here as fast as I could when I heard! Are you okay?”
“You don’t have to worry about a thing!” Goh chuckled. “I’m going to be okay. But Chloe, I thought you had a party?”
“You think I’d put a party over one of my best friends?” Chloe knelt at Goh’s bedside and cried. “Do you have any idea how worried I was?”
“Okay, okay…” Goh patted Chloe’s head. “Sorry I doubted you.”
“Oh my…” Nurse Joy looked at her computer after using it to scan Goh’s blood sample.
“What is it?” Professor Cerise looked to the various displays on the computer.
“It says here that Goh’s DNA is a 99% match with a particular Pokemon…” Nurse Joy clicked the mouse a few more times. “…and that Pokemon… is Mew.”
“Wait, what?” Goh blinked fast.
“So, it’s true…” Professor Cerise looked to Nurse Joy, as if to ask for permission to use the computer and received permission.
“What’s true?” Goh didn’t like the reticence from Professor Cerise and Nurse Joy.
Professor Cerise turned back to Goh. “When I was younger, I did research into Pokemon DNA. Some of my colleagues believed that Pokemon can impart their DNA to humans, allowing them shapeshifter abilities. I thought it was a bunch of hogwash… until now. But this…” The professor gestured towards the computer. “This goes beyond anything I thought possible. With how closely your DNA matches that of Mew, I believe that Mew has completely fused with you.”
“That explains why I haven’t caught it yet… and how I was able to fend off the Tauros.”
“Excuse me?” Professor Cerise asked for clarification.
“The last thing I remember before passing out was seeing the Tauros get launched out of sight… as if someone was using Psychic on them.”
“That must be part of your shapeshifting powers,” Professor Cerise concluded. “You can use your powers when you’re not fully shifted, although you’re a bit weaker when you do so.”
“Professor Cerise!” Nurse Joy exclaimed. “I also found something else in Goh’s blood… He’s got a copious amount of hCG.”
“Could… Could it be… that Goh is…?” Professor Cerise looked confused.
“Professor…?” Goh felt nervous now.
As if Nurse Joy suspected the same thing that Professor Cerise did, she asked Goh, “Goh, can you roll down your pants slightly so we can perform the ultrasound?”
“O-Of course.” Goh allowed Chancey to spread some gel on his lower stomach. It felt cool for a spell before warming up.
“Thank you, Chansey. I got it from here.” Nurse Joy smiled.
“Chan! Chansey Chansey!” Chansey handed her an ultrasound probe.
“Let’s see…” Nurse Joy moved the probe around. “I don’t see any tumors or other pathogens, so that’s good news.”
“Amen to that.” Ash, who had been holding Goh’s hand the whole time, breathed a sigh of relief.
Just when Goh thought that Nurse Joy was done, she suddenly stopped and looked to the ultrasound monitor. “There… There it is.”
“Hmm?” Goh squinted.
“Goh… I don’t know how to tell you this, but…” Nurse Joy took a deep breath; she figured that Goh wouldn’t like to hear what she was about to say but thought it best to be terse. “You’re pregnant. Eight weeks along, to be precise.”
“I’m sorry, I must have misheard you, Nurse Joy. I thought you just told me that I’m pregnant.”
“She’s not lying,” Professor Cerise cut in, pointing at the monitor. “Look.”
It was then that Goh knew that Nurse Joy wasn’t lying. Right there on the screen, for everyone in the room to see, was a little life form, complete with a head and tiny limbs. “How… How is it possible?”
“It likely has to do with your new shapeshifting powers,” Professor Cerise responded. “When Mew fused with you, it probably also gave you a female reproductive system.”
“Ash, isn’t that amazing? We’re going to be parents!”
Unfortunately, Ash didn’t share the same enthusiasm that Goh had – in fact, he was so shellshocked that he said, “I… um, gotta go.” Then, without another word, he briskly left the Pokemon Center.
“Wh-What? You jerk! You’re not getting away that easily, Ash Ketchum!” And with that, Chloe was out the door too.
“Ash…” Goh began to cry. After seeing Ash have so much compassion for kids over the years, he thought that the Galarian Champion would be excited to have kids of his own. So Ash’s reaction certainly came as an unpleasant surprise.
“Goh, I’m sorry.” Nurse Joy frowned. “If it makes you feel any better, you’ve already received all your required IV transfusions. Chancey and I will take out the needles, wrap you up, and then you can leave.”
“Thank you, ma’am.” Goh continued to cry while Nurse Joy and her Chansey worked on him.
“I know this is a question that you don’t want to hear, but… Do you plan on keeping the baby? Remember, the decision ultimately lies with you.”
“I know, but this is huge news. Before I make a major decision like that, I need to talk with Ash first.”
“I understand.” Nurse Joy handed Goh a bag of antiemetics on his way out. “Whatever your decision, remember that we here at Vermilion City Pokemon Center support you.”
“Thanks again, Nurse Joy! Take care!” Goh waved as he left with Professor Cerise.
“Goh…” The professor looked at his understudy, with worry etched on his face. “If you need to take time off work, go for it. I can’t even imagine what must be going on with your body and mind right now.”
“No, Professor, I’m good. However, I will need a day to think things over – and, more importantly, speak with Ash.”
“Well, good luck with that,” sounded Chloe’s voice from further down the corridor.
“Chloe!” Goh exclaimed. “Why are you still here?”
“Because that dirtbag Ash ran off faster than you can say ‘Pikachu.’ Your kid is only the size of a Cheri Berry, and yet the father can’t even support them. What a coward.”
“No. He’s not a coward… Surely he has a reason for reacting the way he did. At least, that’s what I believe.”
“You really love him, don’t you?” Chloe smiled, but that smile quickly faded when Chloe had just remembered something. “Oh, shoot, I forgot! I brought some macaroni-and-Pinap Berry salad to an office potluck this afternoon and was going to bring the leftovers home, but… I accidentally left it at work.”
Without thinking, Goh said, “In that case, I’ll come with you to help!”
“Are you sure, Goh? Don’t you feel sick?”
“Not really… The antiemetics that Nurse Joy gave me really worked wonders.”
“Okay, if you say so.” Before Goh and Chloe got in Chloe’s car, the young woman retrieved something out of her purse. “By the way, you left these at home.”
“My Poke Balls!” Goh gladly accepted the Poke Balls that contained Cinderace, Inteleon, and Rillaboom. “Thanks a bunch, Chloe.”
“Don’t leave without them again, okay?” Chloe got in the driver’s seat while Goh took shotgun. Right after they buckled their seatbelts, Chloe’s car took off. “You got lucky today, but who’s to say that you’ll be lucky the next time some hostile Pokemon attack you? And another thing… Your Pokemon were worried about you, especially Cinderace.”
“Don’t worry, I won’t.” Since Chloe’s school wasn’t far from the Pokemon Center, it didn’t take long to drive there. When he got out of the car, Goh let Cinderace out from his Poke Ball. “I’m sorry for making you worried, Cinderace.”
“Cinder cinder!” Cinderace gave his Trainer a hug, then started following behind Chloe.
“Hmm? You want to help me, Cinderace?” Chloe turned to Goh. “In that case, Goh, stay here and guard the car. You can have some of the macaroni salad when I get back.”
“Hmph.” Goh watched Chloe and Cinderace walk off. “Making a pregnant person wait in a car by himself… Tch. Oh well, at least I get some homemade cooking in a few minutes.”
Just when Goh had the notion to take a quick nap, he heard a little kid screaming, “Aaaah! Stay away!”
Goh jolted awake from his impending sleep. “Now, where have I heard that before?”
“Morpeko!” A flash of blue and red zipped by.
“It’s a Morpeko…” Goh exited the car and, sure enough, he saw Damian fighting off a couple of Primeapes and a different trio of Ekans. “Those Ekans must be here to get revenge for their buddies… Rillaboom and Inteleon, let’s help Damian out! Use Drum Beating and Snipe Shot!”
“Intel!” Inteleon came out of her Poke Ball invisible, shooting out a flurry of water bullets.
“Rillaboom!” Rillaboom got out his wooden drum, beating on it with gusto, spurring roots from nearby trees to trip the Primeape over.
One of the Primeape fainted instantly, but the other only got angrier and charged straight for Rillaboom. “Primeape!”
“Goh!” Damian ran up to Goh and wanted to hug him. He would have, if he was not engaged in a Pokemon battle. “You’re here!”
“Damian, don’t tell me you’re out by yourself again!” Goh scolded. “You should have at least taken another Pokemon besides just Morpeko.”
“But you’re here!” Damian held his hands up to his hips. “So I know I’m going to be okay!”
“Um… Thanks, I guess?” Goh turned his attention back to the battle. Rillaboom was on the floor, being Wrapped by all three Ekans at once, while Inteleon had a hard time dodging Primeape’s punches.
“Inteleon!” Inteleon turned around. Before she knew it, a Muk’s Sludge Bomb hit her square in the face, sending her to the ground. “Intel!”
“This is worse than I thought…” Goh looked to the ground. “They’re calling for backup. We have quite a situation on our hands.”
“Aaaaah!” During the brawl, Damian had gotten separated from Goh, and like the Pokemon he found himself on the ground. Cowering from a Muk, he begged, “Please don’t hurt me!”
“Muuuuuk!” Muk gathered energy and was about to launch a Mega Punch at Damian.
“Nooooo!” Damian cried.
“Damian! I won’t let you!” Goh jumped in front of Damian, shielding him from harm.
“Huh?” Damian looked up, and next thing he knew, Goh had doubled over in pain. “Goh!”
But rather than letting a Mega Punch bring him down, Goh stood up on his feet, feeling a strong mind. While he gathered energy, Mew ears appeared on his head while he grew a Mew tail. “You will leave this boy alone…”
Goh released the energy that welled up from within, unleashing a Psychic on all of the opposing Pokemon. All the while, Damian stared at him in wonder. “Wow… Goh, you’re so cool!”
“Hehehe. …Wait!” Goh took a quick look to his right, noticing the Muk that had attacked Inteleon. “We’ve still got one more to take care of!”
“Yeah!” Damian cheered. “Go get him!”
Though Goh sounded confident, he could feel his energy from before waning already. Luckily for him, though, he wouldn’t have to exert any of it, because an incoming Thunderbolt would take care of that last Muk. “Pikachuuuuu!”
“I know who that is…” Goh looked to a figure running from his left.
“Hey there, love.” Ash winked, ignoring the Pokemon as they fled. He didn’t ignore Goh hugging Damian, though. “Oh? And who might you be?”
“…” Damian, already wary of Ash, spoke, “I’m Damian. Uh… thanks, Mister.”
Goh spoke to Damian, “Are you okay?”
“Mm-hmm!” Damian nodded with a smile. “Thanks to you, Goh! When I get big, I hope to be an awesome Pokemon Trainer like you!”
“Aww, come on, my bo- I mean…” Goh gestured towards Ash. “This man here is the Champion of Galar, Ash Ketchum. If you want to be like someone, be like him.”
All of Damian’s suspicion of Ash was gone. “Wow, a Champion? Then you must be really strong!”
“Sure am!” Ash, along with Pikachu, flexed one arm. “And if you work hard, you can be a great Trainer too!”
“Really? We gotta work hard!” Damian scooped up Morpeko. “Come on, Morpeko, let’s go home! Then we’re gonna train some tomorrow!”
“Morpeko!” Morpeko nodded as Damian ran off with her.
“Take care!” Goh waved until Damian and Morpeko were completely out of sight. Then, with a more serious tone, he turned to Ash. “So… Care to tell me where you were all this time? Care to explain why you ran off the minute you found out you were going to be a father?”
“I owe you an explanation.” Ash sighed, knowing he was about to divulge a long tale. “As you know, being Champion of Galar is a lot of pressure. I’m still not very well-liked in the region… I know for sure that my reputation will be ruined if it’s revealed that I’m in a relationship with another man.”
“Ash…” Goh took Ash’s hand and laced their fingers.
“If you want to leave our relationship now, you can. I don’t want you to feel like you’re living a lie.”
“Wait, did you… just tell me to leave?” Goh’s eyebrows furrowed.
“You heard me. I love you very much, but… I don’t want you to feel hurt.”
“Ugh…” Goh resisted the urge to slap his boyfriend, but only just barely. “Do you think that I didn’t know all of this stuff about you being the Champion? We’ve been boyfriends for 11 years, for crying out loud! If I had once thought that I was ‘living a lie,’ I would have left a long time ago! Yet I’m still here… You know why? It’s because I love you, Ash! There’s not a thing we can’t do together! And I’m sure that if you gain respect and trust of the people of Galar, then you won’t have to worry about your reputation!”
“But… That’s not all. Ever since my father left on his Pokemon journey when I was 10, I’ve not seen him. Heck, I don’t even know if he’s still alive. I’ve no idea how to be a father…” Ash turned Goh around, still holding his hand, but hugging him with his other, shaky arm. “What if I mess up? What if I’m a bad influence on our child?”
“Then you’re going to have to learn how to be a father, won’t you?” Goh laughed while looking Ash in the eyes. “It shouldn’t be hard for you, Mr. Champion.”
“Goh… Kyaaa, I love you so much! And…” Ash looked down, placing a hand on Goh’s belly and speaking to his unborn child. “I love you too. I already can’t wait to meet you and teach you everything about Pokemon! You and Pikachu are going to be best buddies!”
“Pika pika!” Pikachu smiled.
“Hehehe.” Goh held his hand over Ash’s, feeling grateful for the life growing inside him. “I can’t wait to meet you either, little one.”
“Goh!” Chloe could be heard calling out from the school. “I’m sorry I was gone, I- Oh. It’s you, Ash. Fancy meeting you here. So, are you done being a grumpy prick?”
“Hey, take it easy, Chloe,” Goh chuckled. “We’re good now. I’ve decided that I’m going to keep the baby.”
“That’s right!” Ash added. “And I’m going to be the best boyfriend and father that I know how.”
“If you insist.” Chloe trusted Ash again. “Now come, let’s go home. We’ve got a lot of macaroni salad to eat!”

The Gentle Warmth of Friendship
Summary: Brody and Violet journey with their Pokemon when suddenly they meet someone new.
Word Count: 3353
Read on AO3:
“Are you sure we’re heading in the right direction?” Brody asked as she struggled to balance the PokeNav in her hand while gently holding Cleffa. Ralts walked beside her, calm and collected as it followed its trainer.
“Clef?” The small pokemon looked up at its trainer’s face and saw the worry in her eyes. Brody’s brows furrowed as she studied the map. Prescott shouldn’t be far away from the route they were on.
“I don’t know. Aasim said to stay on route 116 and keep walking until we see a road marker that points towards Prescott,” Violet shuffled the pack on her back. Part of her wanted to take a break for the day and set up camp. But another, bigger part of her wanted to continue on. If the two of them walked on and didn’t stop, they could reach the town by nightfall.
“Okay, well I’m sure we’ll be able to find it,” Brody jogged forward and caught up with her friend. The auburn gave a friendly smile to Violet who offered a small one in return. Cubone walked alongside Violet and kept one hand on its weapon and another on her pant leg. The pokemon had always been extremely attached to Violet ever since the day she had found it after its mother’s passing.
Violet looked down with a smile. “You let me know if you get tired, Cubone, and we can stop,”
The words made Cubone look up with big eyes. “Cu? Cubone!” it cried happily and its grip on Violet’s pant leg tightened. Violet shook her head good-naturedly then turned her sights up ahead. Cubone had a tendency to push itself too hard but that only made things worse for the pokemon. With how tired it got it sometimes couldn’t keep up with Violet. At that point Cubone would start to cry from loneliness, causing a sad melody to vibrate throughout the skull it wore on its head, making it shake.
“Veno!”
The sudden call made Brody and Violet stop to see that Venonat had gotten distracted by rock collecting. The bug type pokemon pitter pattered over and stopped in front of Violet. Its large red eyes looked into hers as it held up the item. “Venonat!”
“For me?” Violet knelt down and gave a soft smile as her pokemon handed over the item before she tucked it away. “Thanks.”
“Nat! Nat!” The pokemon exclaimed happily and did a small dance before it gave Violet a look. Instantly the trainer knew what it wanted and carefully picked up her pokemon. Soon the two trainers were off on the route once more.
“Doesn’t carrying all those rocks become tiring?” Brody looked over at Violet who glanced over her way. Violet moved a bit closer to Brody and brought her voice down to a whisper.
“I don’t keep all of them. My pack gets too fucking heavy so when Venonat is napping I usually place them to the side or give them to some wild pokemon I see if they’re friendly.” Violet’s explanation made Brody chuckle softly. The reaction made Violet frown. “It's not funny.”
“Sorry, no, it's just that's really sweet. You really do love your pokemon, Vi.” Brody smiled softly and Violet looked away.
“Yeah, of course. I’d be a pretty shitty trainer if I didn’t think about my pokemon.”
“Speaking of trainers, I can’t wait to see the others in Prescott,” Brody’s eyes shone with joy and her Ralts moved closer towards her, drawn in by her positive emotions.
“Me too. I bet you’re really excited to see one trainer in particular,” Violet teased her friend who nudged her arm.
“Hey! I’m gonna be happy to see the others too! I haven’t seen Ruby in ages and Minnie will definitely want to challenge me to a pokemon battle when we arrive.” As Brody spoke Cleffa held onto her finger, snuggling it contentedly. “But yeah, I can’t wait to see Mitch either and watch that confident smirk turn dorky as soon as he sees me.”
“Not like your face is any better. You two short circuit around each other.” Violet’s words made Brody grow embarrassed.
“Well, it's not like you and Prisha are any better. You told me you dropped your PokeNav into the curry the last time you two camped together because she surprised you with a hug from behind!” Brody was now the one with the smug, teasing expression on her face while Violet felt overwhelmed.
“Whatever, the Pokenav still worked and besides, it's not as embarrassing as that berry incident,” Violet’s smile returned when she saw that Brody clearly remembered that day.
“Well played, Vi. Anyways, I heard that Prescott has quite the gym leader.” Brody shifted their conversation before rummaging around in her pockets. She offered some berries and other treats to Violet. Violet gave a small thanks before handing some of the treats to her pokemon before munching on a berry herself.
“Yeah, I heard the gym there is tough. The Fairy gym leader is known to kick anyone’s ass that challenges him,”
Brody nodded and was about to add to that when suddenly a patch of grass to her right rustled wildly. Both trainers stopped in their tracks and carefully studied the grass. Violet instinctively moved forward in front of Brody and prepared to defend her friend if need be.
The grass continued to move until suddenly a purple blob pokemon wiggled forward. Its beady little eyes looked at Brody then Violet before it smiled. “Ditto!” It cried happily then noticed Venonat staring at it from the safety of Violet’s arms. WIthout warning the Ditto began to transform and became an exact replica of the bug type pokemon.
“Veno?” Violet’s Venonat looked somewhat scared but squirmed out of Violet’s arms. Cautiously it moved forward and examined the Ditto who now looked exactly like it. Venonat did a few different motions with its claws and they were mirrored with ease. “Nat! Nat!” The pokemon screeched and waddled back frantically, clutching onto Violet’s leg desperately.
“Ditto?” Ditto looked confused as to why that had scared its potential new friend. The Ditto morphed back into its original form and was about to imitate another pokemon to see if it could become friends with it when all of sudden a soft voice called out to it.
“Ditto! There you are!” A trainer ran forward, his dark hair getting in the way of his eyes as he scooped up the Ditto. “I thought I told you, no running off and bugging other trainers,” The trainer scolded his pokemon before looking over at Violet and Brody. “Sorry about my Ditto.”
“It's fine,” Violet mumbled and picked up her Venonat.
“Yeah, your Ditto was just trying to make friends, right?” Brody smiled over at the trainer who nodded slowly.
“Ditto always tries to make new friends, thinks that it will help with my social anxiety,” the trainer explained, gesturing with his hands a lot and causing Ditto to nearly slip out of his arms.
“Well, there was no harm done. I’m Brody and this is Violet,” The auburn trainer gestured to herself then to Violet who gave a small nod of acknowledgement.
“It's nice to meet you. My name is James,” The trainer’s soft voice grew a bit quieter. It had been a while since he had run into trainers that weren’t mad that his Pokemon had bugged them. “Well, I should get-”
“Riolu!” A pokemon cried out protectively and ran forward. Its little paws whacked against the ground before the blue pokemon slid in front of James. Its red eyes dared Brody and Violet to even try to take a step forward.
“Riolu! No!” James placed down Ditto and reached out to stop his Riolu from starting a fight like it usually did. “These are nice trainers. What did I say about fighting?”
“Ri!” The pokemon huffed as it looked back at its trainer. James picked it up, now holding both his pokemon in his arms. Riolu’s eyes soon snapped over at the group once more. Quickly it sensed the auras surrounding the two trainers and their pokemon. Brody had a calm, comforting aura and her Cleffa and Ralts seemed to have a similar aura radiating off of them as well. Riolu looked over and noticed the spooked aurora around Venonat and felt the lonely aura around Cubone although it seemed to be tamer than other Cubones and an undertone of happiness danced within its aura. Lastly Riolu looked over at Violet and noticed her quiet, subtle aura. There was no malice or anger amongst them. The pokemon glanced back at its trainer. Now that Riolu thought about it, James’ aura was unusually calm too. “Ri, Ri,” Riolu grumbled and settled down.
“Thank you,” James hugged his pokemon softly. “Sorry about Riolu. He tends to get overprotective of me,”
“That's okay, just shows that you have a good bond with your pokemon,” Violet’s words made James’ eyes grow large. They had clearly meant a lot to him. He was about to thank her for them but a laugh made all three trainers pause. They looked over to see two grunts strolling forward. Both of them had a menacing aura to them and the look in their eyes made it clear they were looking for trouble.
“Look, Joey, we found some cool pokemon for the boss!” The grunt on the left smiled smugly at his friend.
“Yeah, I bet the boss is gonna give us a promotion. Maybe we can even get to choose one of the next Pokemon in the ring!” Joey’s eyes shone with a twisted joy.
“I don’t know who you are but we don’t want trouble,” Brody spoke up and drew the two grunts’ attention.
“Well, we do and we want your pokemon too!” Joey strode forward but Violet stood in front of the group alongside James’ Riolu who had wiggled out of its trainer’s arms.
“Get your own Pokemon and leave us the hell alone!” Violet growled at the grunts, her eyes burning with warning.
The two grunts shared a look and began to laugh.
“Who’s gonna stop us? Your little bug? Listen, just give us the Cubone, Riolu, Ditto and Ralts and we’ll let you keep your shitty pokemon.” There was cocky confidence in the grunt’s orders. Those words caused three different reactions from the trainers. Violet gritted her teeth and curled her hands into fists while James slowly strode forward, his eyes shimmering coldly. Brody gathered Ditto, Ralts, and Venonat together who Violet had told to go back to her.
“You would try to tear apart pokemon from their trainers? I won’t let you do that.” James’ calm aura had shifted and he was ready to fight if need be.
Heh, you don’t have a choice! We’re taking them by force! Ready, Justin?” Joey smiled over to his friend as he took out his pokeball.
“I’m always ready! We’re gonna show these dumbasses the might of Team Delta!” Justin unclipped his pokeball from his hip and tossed it in the air. The ball flew high before a light hummed from inside it and a pokemon emerged. A Machoke landed on the ground and shook its fist as it looked over at Violet and James. Its left eye was missing and scars littered its body. The sight pained James’ heart. What had happened to this pokemon? Had its trainer done this? Before James could ponder further Joey threw his pokeball and a Skarmory appeared in front of them. It gave a high pitched cry causing Brody, Violet and James to cover their ears. Its metal wings were damaged and its beak was bent. Violet clenched both of her fists. These two didn’t give a shit about any pokemon, even their own.
“Violet, would you help me in this battle?” James looked over with determination. Clearly he was just as upset by the sight before him as Violet was.
“Yeah.” Violet nodded and knelt down in front of her Cubone. “I’m going to need your help.” “Cubone!” The pokemon cried to hype itself up and waved around the bone weapon it wielded.
“Riolu, are you ready?” James asked his pokemon companion who got into a fighting stance.
“Riolu!” The pokemon declared proudly and glared at the Delta grunts.
“Okay then. We challenge you to a pokemon battle!” James yelled as he stood beside Violet.
“Bring it, losers!” Justin laughed then gave the first command. “Machoke, use low kick!”
“Choke!” Machoke roared and charged forward. It used its left leg to stabilize itself before sending a devastating low kick directly at Riolu’s face. Riolu lifted its arms to block the attack and soften the blow as it skidded backwards. Dust and dirt flew through the air; the battle had begun.
“Cubone, use headbutt!” Violet instructed and her pokemon charged forward with its head turned downwards towards Machoke.
“Cu!” the pokemon cried and landed a direct hit but it didn’t seem to do much damage.
“Skarmory, use wing attack!” Joey snapped and the pokemon immediately obeyed. Its sharp wings shone in the light and it flew forward, spinning wildly before its wings slashed out at Cubone. Cubone whimpered in pain and stumbled back. It was a super effective move.
“Cubone!” Violet glared at Joey with fiery hatred in her eyes. “You piece of shit!” Her anger only made Joey’s twisted smile grow. Violet’s jaw tightened; she wouldn’t give up so easily.  “Cubone, use headbutt!”
Cubone listened and charged forward, ramming into the Skarmory.
“Heh, you’re so fucking stup-’
“Now! Use Bone rush!” Violet’s words made Joey freeze as Cubone used its bone and harshly hit Skarmory again and again. Skarmory cried out  and tried to get away but the Cubone was too close and unusually fast.
“Justin! Help!” Joey yelled but his friend ignored him. He was too busy having fun using Machoke to low kick Riolu again and again.
“I don’t have time for your whiny shit, Joey! I’m busy beating the shit out of this twerp!” His words made James shake with anger.
“Riolu, use quick attack to dodge the next blow!” James cried and Riolu gave a nod. As soon as Machoke tried to use another low kick Riolu used quick attack, zooming underneath the outstretched leg.
“Machoke?” Machoke spun around this way and that to find its opponent.
“Now, use metal claw!” James’ voice rang out and danced around the battlefield as Riolu appeared through its makeshift shield of dust. Its claws shone as it tore at Machoke. Machoke gave a pained sound and tried to retaliate but Riolu slipped into the dusty wind once more. James continued on like this, commanding Riolu to use quick attacks to dodge Machoke’s onslaught before sending in a metal claw attack of its own. Slowly but surely Riolu was chipping away at Machoke’s health until James called out for the finishing blow. “Riolu, use force palm!”
“Ri, Ri!” Riolu dashed forward and appeared in front of Machoke. Getting on its left leg Riolu lifted up its right one slightly and got into a fighting stance. Moving both of its paws back it charged up a devastating attack and sent its right paw forward, crashing into Machoke’s chest.
“Choke?” Machoke stumbled back, frightened that it had lost. It tried to reach out to Justin but folded over and collapsed on the ground.
Justin tsked angrily and held out the pokeball to retrieve the pokemon. “Fucking useless! I’ll just have to steal a better pokemon,” Justin tossed aside the pokeball into a pile of mud nearby then looked over to see how Joey was faring.
“Damn it, damn it, damn it!!!!” Joey yelled. “Skarmory! Use fly now!”
Skarmory tried its best to get away as fast as possible but it turned out to be fruitless.
“Cubone, use bonemerang!” Violet’s words made the Delta grunt’s eyes shake with realization.
“Cu, cu!” Cubone lifted up its arm and with a mighty toss threw its bone through the air. The attack connected and hit the Skarmory in mid flight. The pokemon gave another high pitched cry which made Violet and James cover their ears once more before Skarmory fell from the sky. Joey didn’t seem worried at all. In fact, it looked like he was going to let it fall to the ground. Violet and James ran forward at the same time to catch the pokemon, sliding across the ground to save it just in time. They had been able to stop the Skarmory from getting severely harmed even though it would definitely cost them a few bruises over the coming days.
“Argh!” Joey reluctantly held out his pokeball to retrieve Skarmory before he noticed that Justin had discarded his pokemon. Joey thought for a moment and followed suit, tossing aside his pokeball like it was nothing.
“How dare you!” Brody ran forward and carefully fished the two pokeballs out of the mud.
“You two are just selfish assholes!” Violet spat with venom and strode forward with James.
In that moment all of Justin and Joey’s bravery seemed to disappear and they frantically pushed each other out of the way as they tried to escape. They were fighting each other so much that a small pouch slipped out of Justin’s pocket without him even realizing it. “Team Delta won’t forget about this!” Justin yelled angrily then turned and disappeared down the road with Joey.
The three trainers were quiet for a few moments before Violet and James turned their attention to their Pokemon. Violet carefully checked Cubone’s injuries and took out a potion spray. Gently she began to spray the wounds and used some bandages to make sure no infection got into the injuries before they reached Prescott and could visit a PokeCenter. James frantically checked Riolu for injuries before tenderly holding the Pokemon in his arms.
“Thank you, for helping me fight them off,” James smiled softly at Violet.
Violet picked up Cubone who clutched onto her shirt. The blonde trainer looked over at James then glanced away. “It was no big deal. Someone had to stop those assholes,” Violet offered a small smile towards James then turned towards Brody who was sadly looking at the pokeballs which held the discarded Pokemon. “We should see if Prescott has a Pokemon sanctuary.”
Brody glanced up at Violet’s words and nodded. “I don’t know who would abandon their Pokemon like this.”
“Heartless people, that's who. I’ve seen it before,” Violet walked forward and stopped beside Brody. “They’ll be okay.”
That made a gentle smile appear on Brody’s lips. “Yeah, you’re right.”
“Thanks for watching out for Venonat too,” Violet offered a small smile her friend’s way.
“No problem.” Brody’s lips held the same smile until an idea crossed her mind. “Oh, James, would you like to journey with us to Prescott? It could be safer to have others with you in case Team Delta shows up again. Plus, it's always more fun to travel with company,”
James’ eyes grew large at Brody’s offer. He studied her eyes for a moment and saw she was truly genuine. Glancing over, he noticed Violet gave a small nod in agreement and that she was being genuine too. “Alright, I haven’t traveled with others in a while so I may not be the best company,” James readjusted his pack then hurried forward with Ditto and Riolu.
“That's okay. I tend to do the most talking anyway since Violet can get lost in her thoughts and be kinda standoffish, especially with new people. But practice makes perfect so speak up whenever you feel comfortable,” Brody smiled over at James before looking at Violet who was frowning slightly at Brody’s description of her and quickly glanced away.
James was silent, processing the kindness he had been offered while watching as Brody reassured Violet who shrugged her off but seemed to not have taken offense. It was clear these two were close friends and maybe, just maybe they could be his friends too. James looked at the road ahead. It could be wishful thinking but he wanted to believe otherwise. These two definitely made him want to believe.

Pnf- chpt. 1: traveling ahead
There was a wet crunch of water absorbed grass with each step and any pokemon cry was tuned out by the insistent buzzing of venonats.
The sinking mud didn’t stop Peach as she raced towards the high grass, seeking to find the next starter. Not wanting to be the last one to gain their starter, Comet mirrored her. Comet was lucky to find a caterpie, let alone any pokemon. But by the looks of Peach, she was having no success either. It felt like a game of meowth and pikachu with nothing to chase. Feeling exhausted of any and all possibilities, Comet sat down, closed their eyes, and listened...
“Boo!”
Comet shot up back to their feet and shrieked when they heard the voice nearby
“Peach? What was that for?!”
“Did you catch yours yet?”
“No, did you?”
“Nuh-uh. You were kinda silent so I wanted to see what you were doing. Did finally get your aura yet?”
They sighed, "No. I don’t even think I have one”
“Well, you being like that isn’t gonna help!”
“But at least you two got the time to train yours!” they soon began to simmer down, “But I guess I’m alright with not having any.”
“Can’t you still mentally train for an aura? That’s what my dad says It’s all about the power of the mind or something like that”
“What about Pecan? Wasn’t he born with that?”
She glanced at her cousin’s arm then back at them,” Huh...well I don’t know, just think harder or something!”
They groaned before closing their eyes shut once again. Things were sent back to tranquility. It prolonged until a feline cried could be heard only a couple feet away.
Peach rose from the grass, "The roar!” she whispered to herself before dashing towards the grand worthy call. She halts to a screeching stop when a cub of light green fur and a tail that matched the surrounding reeds. Yowling at the sky, they rested on the muddy floor. Memorizing the paper, Peach reached her hand out. But instead of a calm response, the feline hissed at the girl, ready to fight but just stayed dormant on the soil. Peach wasn’t going to backtrack now as she planted her hand on the cat’s head. A long pause stood between those two as her hand landed on the fur without any further movement. Peach visibly trembled, praying that the paper was true, until a sense something. She took her gaze away from the cub itself and towards their cub’s paw. It twitched as the claws were unleashed. Peach opened her hand carefully and slowly. The cat stared back. But with hesitation, gave her its paw.
The paw was damp, covered with mud, but something pressed the girl’s palm. Lifting it up the front leg slowly and spotted an oak brown fragment sticking out of the feline’s toe bean
She frowned,” Poor thing.”
The girl took her gaze off of the yowling cat and to her matching pink bag,” Hey Pex, what did Mills say about berries? Like, which one’s hp healing?”
Pecan was taken off-guard, nearly dropping the slithering cizzlar that was on his arm, "Huh? what- OH, I think Aguav, Oran, Enigma I think...”
As he lists each berry one by one, Peach scrambled through her packed lunch and plushies and found her sealed bag of berries. And no time would be wasted as she ripped it opened just to grab two oran berries. She soon gave the cub one good look of reassurance, “It’ll only hurt a little bit” before yanking out the thornful nuisance out of the pokemon’s paw. And just like clockwork, the cub’s aggressive nature vanished. Peach proudly grabbed the green feline, raising them up to the air like they were the new prophet.
“I GOT MY CATRIELLE!”
“W-How!?”
“I USED MY AURA!”
As much as Comet was proud, it felt painful. “Was this scavenger all that is? Some stupid aura training for the professor's relatives?”. Comet could only pray that they’ll get their starter last, let alone find it at all.
“You ok, Star-kid?”
“Yea” They smiled through their emotions
“What do you think I should name them?” Peach stretched out her arms, presenting her new starter to both Comet’s and Pecan’s faces.
They pondered, observing the creature to every aspect it had, “What about hotdog?”
“Hotdog? That doesn’t sound pretty?”
“Well, its tail looks like one.”
Peached took notice of the plant-like tail. It swung left and right like an old cuckoo clock, and just like Comet said, the color and shape looked identical to a hotdog. Peach turned her nose in protest to such a blasphemous suggestion, “I’m not naming them Hotdog!”
“Then what are you gonna name them then, smartypants?”
She paused. Thinking long and hard, searching endlessly through her thoughts,” Fruit”
“It’s not a fruit tho”
“It’s still a plant”, she stuck her tongue out in mockery before walking away with their new catrielle. Comet could only roll their eyes again until a sudden thud punched them on the side. Their eyes set daggers to what interrupted them. A dark blue metallic tube of a pokemon with one eye stared back at them. Both of their stares prolonged for minutes on end. All Comet did was gift the beldum their hand.  Beldum slowly drifted towards their hand.
“Beep-bop”
In an 8-bit low hum, it spun in glee before levitating near their shoulder. Beep-bop wasn’t on the top of their plans of catching, but it was still a pleasant surprise. They sprint up from the towering grass to re-find their friends.
“Caught a ‘mon!”
“Me too” she exclaimed as Comet could see a speeding white bullet dancing to the wind and landing to Peach’s now closed hands. Once opened, a yellow and white fuzzball of a pokemon fluttered out, swiftly to Comet’s head and back to their original pair of hands.
“How did you catch another pokemon already?”
“Why haven’t you?” A proud smirk appeared on her face.
They scowled at the petty response. However, Comet’s ears alerted them of oncoming footsteps, but the reeds and cattails and towering shrubs obscured the identity of who. However, they wouldn’t need to worry about who it was as they felt a hook scooping them off the ground. They looked up and saw a stern Pecan with pent up agitation.
“We gotta go”
“What why?”
“Yeah, why? Stars didn’t even find their second pokemon yet!”
“We can find one near Spintwelle Village”
Comet wanted to continue the argument but the sound of something calling out for them in the distance kept interrupting their thoughts.
“I know you can hear me Pex!”
Peach did a quick turnaround before looking back at her cousin, "Do you know that guy?”
“Just ignore him”
The distant voice became more and more disrupting and their curiosity lured them to turn around. Another teen was chasing Pecan, along with their rambunctious scorbunny. In fact, the devilish cotton fluff bastard was dribbling their flaming fireball a bit too high. Comet thought nothing of it until...POW. An orange and yellow blur whiplashed the back of Pecan’s head that caused him to drop both Comet and Peach. Pecan turned 180 as fast as a carkol fueled by pent up hatred.
“WHAT DO YOU WANT, CED!”
“Why, Hops and I  are simply trying to continue our gym challenge just like you are. Honestly, Pex, that’s quite rude of you to say.”
“RUDE!? YOU BURNED THE BACK OF MY HAIR”
“Pardon” The blonde teen gazed at Pecan with innocent bewilderment, "OH! Hops must’ve been training a new ember attack, I’m sorry that he interrupted your stroll”, his smirk masked its true intentions with simple naivety.
“You know full well what you two were doing”
The pompous white guy’s smug smirk opposed Pecan’s anger which angered him even more. Their squabble grew greater and greater, that the two disregarded any of their surroundings. And like the hype-girl she is, Peach refused to leave her emo cousin in the dust for once. She stood between the two and attempted to outspeak the two. But alas, her contribution only made the argument more haywire. With everything spiraling out of control, Comet can barely focus on one particular person.  Scorbunny was prepping up another fireball, Pecan and “Cedar” were bickering, Peach was fueling the fire of the argument, and soon enough, another guy was walking towards them, it was havoc.
Seconds before Pecan could tell “Slasher” its first move to use, he can feel a firm grip on his shoulder. Peach looked up upon the lurking shadow that overcast her. A somewhat middle-aged man with long hair that had a gradient of blonde to brown and freckles.
“Morning Cedar", he turned to Pex, "Pecan, I sure hope nothing is going wrong”
Out of shame and politeness, Pecan shifted his head down, ”No sir.”
“Absolutely not, Father, we were just discussing about scheduling my upcoming tutoring session”
Pecan gave the blonde nuisance a stare colder than the ice that covers Rockwind,”...Sure”
“Well, that’s great to hear! I’m expecting to hear great things during your trip, Mr. Apple”
“Yes, sir”
And with a simple nod and a gentle smile, he let go of the two boys and continued his way to a nearby train station, adjacent to Spintwelle. Cedar waved farewell to his father before making a quick turn to Pecan, ”Toodaloo, Pex” he mocked before skipping away from the group without a care in the world. Pecan could only scowl.
Comet waited until the dust settled, ”You know them?”
"It's work-related” he gave a tired sighed, “Let’s just try and reach town, I’ll buy lunch.”
In silent solidarity, both Peach and Comet nod to agree and allowed Pecan to lead the way to the village.

Round 1: VS Venonat - Legends Part 1
Hello everyone, welcome to my story! This is the first book in a series I'm writing. Hopefully, it'll be finished the way I want it to be. I have a lot of plans to manipulate known facts and add my own into the fray as well.
Sorry, y'all! I didn't mean to fall off on writing this. I just got self-conscious. But I'm not going to let that get into the way anymore! I'm gonna stay on top of writing this!
Especially with this new writing style I've got! I've discovered I'm more a slice of life, mystery, fantasy type of writer. Not so much action like I originally tried. So, my chapters will be much shorter than before and will have great character interactions. I hope y'all like it this go around! And I promise I'll do better with staying on top of things!
I've made a lot of changes to the OG story, along with the previous version so I'll make sure to spot them out and let y'all know!
Oh, and quick disclaimer. I'm a black queer writer so all of my stories, including this one, will have characters who explore black and queer themes. I hope this creates a welcoming atmosphere for all to enjoy my stories and see a different perspective on pokemon and what it can be written about.
I also hope to inspire more black and queer writers to write stories on this site. The more the merrier!
Oh and I'm thinking about doing this thing where I tell y'all what music helped me write these chapters. It's a fun little thing. Mainly because music is a big part of my writing process so I thought it'd be fun to share with y'all!
So these three chapters were inspired by the Calling All Lovers album by Tamar Braxton! I love her voice and have been obsessed with her recently! She's always been one of my favs (#piscesgang) but this revisit to this gem just kept me going! I believe the song that helped a lot was Broken Record.
Special shoutout to Big Dummy by Cocoa Sarai (#piscesgang) as well! That song kept me motivated.
Without further ado, I hope you enjoy it!

Round 1: VS Venonat – Legends Part 1
Location: Twinleaf Town Date: August 4th, 3000 Time: 8:45am
Legends. Paxton grew up on the grand tales of mystery and wonder. Weaved together by ancient people who desired to understand the world around them. From declarations of the universe’s creation to the birth of emotions. A legend existed for them all. And all found themselves scribed and stored in libraries across Sinnoh.
Once upon a time, he believed them. Sat amongst groups of budding trainers in awe as their teacher’s spun these tales. Admired the scholars who backed up these claims with beautifully dressed lies. Part of him wished he believed them. At least then he’d preserve the innocence he lost long ago.
Not that it mattered. Innocence didn’t make for a great travel companion. Clouded the mind and led even the best astray. Paxton knew he’d never succumb to it. Not again.
“Ain’t that right, Kiri?” his little formantis thrilled beside him. She fell in step beside him, having just defeated a wild bidoof. Annoying rodents with the worst aromas.
Under the morning sun, he kept moving. Summers in Sinnoh never made much sense. Despite the heat, a chilling breeze whisked by. Eastern winds—had to be from the lake. Still, a bit musty for his taste. He heard Lake Verity was a beautiful place filled with energetic, young pokémon. Perhaps just another well-crafted lie.
It doesn’t matter.Paxton shrugged and continued his path. He had his mission and pitstops didn’t fit the bill. Soon enough, he found himself inside Twinleaf Town. A cute little place filled with morning folks. They took to the streets with their pokémon and tended to their business. A few merchant stands set up with fresh produce and supplies.
“Pretty nice, huh?” Kiri agreed. She breathed in the fresh air and thrilled. Much better for her than Jubilife City.
Now, if any of them could point him in the right direction—
“I tell ya it’s true!” A youngster wailed to a crowd. Quite the sight, Paxton mused. Clothes tattered and caked with mud. His youthful tan marred with bruises and an odd burn across his forearm.
“There’s a monster in the lake! It attacked me and my nidoran!”
A monster in Lake Verity? Paxton frowned. Too farfetched for his taste. Powerful pokémon never lingered along the lakefront, so the merchants told him. The most dangerous any trainer encountered was a choleric gyarados!
There’s no such thing as monsters, he scoffed but got closer regardless. The kid had a story, no doubt about it. Perhaps it would prove to be a challenge for him.
Though his hopes weren’t high. Twinleaf Town hadn’t produced capable trainers in years—
“The boy speaks truth, if only misguided,” an elderly man took the boy’s side with a pleasant smile. Eyes narrowed with wisdom as leaned against his cane. “There’s always been a force protecting the lakefront. A guardian blessed by Lady Mesprit herself. It serves to protect the grounds from intruders.”
A guardian, the Paxton scoffed. Yet another well-dressed lie. And the crowd around him shared his thoughts if their whispers were any indication.
Clearly, the elder saw no reason to stop. He only adjusted his kimono and tapped his cane against the lush grass. A soft, melodic sound, yet it quieted the confused herd of people. Paxton whistled. Plenty of teachers killed for that superpower, especially on the last day of classes.
“Now, now,” The elder smiled, gingerly tapping the pokéball on his cane. “We all knew of the legend.”
The ball snapped open and released a pokémon before them all. A beautiful feline with glowing, white fur. The perfect contrast to its pitch-black skin and talons. Armed with a scythe-like tail and a crescent horn jutting from its forehead.
It glared at him with glowing red eyes. Eyes filled with frosty wisdom. Lingered on him, demanding something the trainer wasn’t prepared to give.
He flinched. Not his proudest moment. And the pokémon agreed, turning up its nose with a snarl.
“You feel it, Absol?” The man said in a graveled whisper. At once, the strange pokémon—absol, he supposed—growled. The elder stroked its forehead and locked eyes with the trainer. “Young man, what is your name.”
Part of him wanted nothing more than to flip the old geezer off. He hated unwanted attention. Yet the questioning gaze of the crowd made him shrink. Of course, that geezer had them wrapped up in his every word.
“Paxton,” he spoke softly, gathering Kiri closer for comfort. She glared and waved her arms for battle. “Paxton Lotus of Floaroma Town. This is my partner pokémon, Kiri the formantis.”
The geezer nodded with a strange smile. But Paxton couldn’t place why it disturbed him. “You all remember the legend,” the geezer spoke again. “A child blessed with verity. Discovered by the peaceful flower.” Paxton groaned. Of course, this had something to do with him. No wonder he didn’t trust the geezer. “Tell me, young one. What has brought you to his town?”
Easy. He had his mission. Deliver the package and report back to Professor Kapok. Nothing special. He did plenty of these over the weeks.
“To see the lake guardian with my own eyes,” Paxton spoke, but words felt foreign. “And start my journey with an adventure.”
“An adventure,” The man smiled. A knowing smile Paxton saw plentifully on Father’s face. “An adventure intertwined with the red strings. Yes, you certainly shall receive one. Follow me, please youngling.”
Something tells me I shoulda stayed in Floaroma Town
Suddenly, staying in Floaroma Town felt like the right move. Paxton sighed and ran a hand over his green coils. Lake Verity didn’t live up to the legends. No bustling pokémon or fairy spirits. Not even a spontaneous battle—though, Paxton yearned for it well. Just silence and a thick fog.
A strange fog at that. It hung over the trees until they caved to its weighed. Many bent at odd angles. Not even Eterna Forest looked so eerie. And that forest had far too many ghost-type pokémon.
“I hate this place,” Paxton shivered. The air seemed so cold and heavy. And each brush of air prickled his skin with sharpened icicles.
Paxton paused by a familiar tree. Passed it a few times now, he knew. No other tree had these strange cravings on the bark. Some language, he wagered. However, the letters seemed bizarre and had cycloptic eyes. Strange, yet they seemed familiar. As if he saw them in a dream before.
{Paxton…} a voice whispered on the wind. Eyes darted around, but Paxton couldn’t find the source. Yet the voice continued, whispering his name in an offbeat rhythm. {Paxton…}
Great, I’m loosin’ it! Paxton groaned. Yet the voice paid him no heed. Each whisper grew louder than the last with a pronounced echo. Mashed together with words until it jumbled into an incoherent mess. Pain shot through his mind and Paxton stumbled. Braced against the tree, he stared into the fog and froze.
A figure breached the fog. Pale as ice with messy coils and lifeless eyes. Naked yet the wisping streamers of the fog covered anything unsavory. The figure stared at him with shinning sky-blue eyes…and smiled. Giggled even!
Is that a ghost? Paxton swallowed. Spirits weren’t his forte. In fact, they freaked him out!
{Paxton…} the ghost spoke even though its lips never moved. It urged him to follow as it stepped back into the fog. {Paxton…}
…Hell. Against his better judgement, he followed it. Chased it through the shifting fog as Kiri appeared beside him in a burst of light. He needed her. If this ghost was anything like the kind in Kanto, then he couldn’t take any chances! Would’ve been a perfect time to find that guardian though.
Guardian…what if that ghost was the guardian? A chill ran down his spine. He hoped not. Dealing with the undead was Casper’s thing, not his! He had enough of ghost-type pokémon ever since he got lost in that busted down chateau!
Still, he put those thoughts aside and chased its faded form. Even as his lungs screamed at him to take a break. Or his legs struggled to keep up. He fought through it. And Paxton found himself in a clearing. Empty, yet devoid of the heavy fog. Just a soft breeze and lake water as it crashed against the ground.
The ghost turned to him and grinned. Eyes filled with mirth as it lifted off the ground and floated to the lake. Paxton followed and gazed in awe. The ghost danced above, swinging its arms. It spiralled through the morning skies and giggled. Soft and melodious as the soft waves rolling through. And with a grin, the ghost dove into the lake.
Glittering light erupted across the water. Engulfed the lake in a rainbow splendor.
For a moment, Paxton stared into the light. Entranced as thoughts raced through his mind. Feelings, long since buried, unearthed and flooded him in a sparkling array of light—
(Veno-NAT!)
Paxton didn’t realize he moved until the heat hit him. As he rolled along the soft grass, charred dirt sprinkled his skin. Ignited by flashes of green light. Something attacked him, but he couldn’t see anything in the grass. Just rustling as the breeze blew through—
(NAT!)
This time, Paxton was ready. He lunged away as streaks of light smashed into the ground. Unharmed except for the light scarps. Good enough for Kiri as she dashed into the fight. She weaved through the streaks of light and unleashed a spiral of glowing leaves into the tall grass. Trimmed grass fluttered through the air, but the rustled told him all he needed to know.
“Kiri, widen your range and trim the grass! Razor Leaf!”
Sharpened leaves ripped through the air and trimmed the tall grass. Amongst the fallen leaves, he caught a glimpse of the assailant. Purple for sure…and were those clodhopper feet?
The creature paused in the epicenter of the field. And…it had to be the ugliest thing Paxton ever saw. Thick, disheveled purple fur mashed with giant, red eyes, stubby paws and insect features. Poor thing. Nobody’d ever train something so hideous.
This must be the monster. Paxton frowned. Ugly or not, he had to get rid of it.
“Kiri, time to water the garden.” Kiri rushed it and slashed it across the chest. The bug cried out, but Kiri didn’t stop there. She slashed and slashed, drawing pained buzzes from the creature. Now that Kiri had a target, that bug didn’t have a chance.
“That’s it! Fury Cutter!”
Once Fury Cutter went to work, it didn’t matter what pokémon Kiri faced. Each slash gained greater strength than the last. A nasty move for sure but made pokémon battles so much easier. The bug stumbled away from a slash and hopped away. But Kiri raced after it, unleashing more spiraling leaves to smash into its back.
“Finish it, Kiri! Leaf—”
Kiri cried out, low and mangled, as she fell forward! Her blades held her up, but she gasped for air.
But how?! Paxton watched in horror as the air rippled and smashed into Kiri, blowing her back. He lunged for her. Caught her just before she crashed. And when he pulled her close, he found streaks of purple staining her green skin. Poison?
(Nat?) The bug hopped over. Body tensed as green light oozed underneath its messy fur. Paxton dipped a hand to his belt. He had the perfect pokémon for this ugly—
“Motha,” A calm, melodious voice washed over the field. And the beast paused. “That’s enough.”
The beast hobbled over to the lake with a certain bounce that Paxton didn’t appreciate.
“That’s enough fighting, please,” the same voice spoke again. And a trainer climbed out of the crystal waters. Clad in only a pair of black briefs decorated with bugs and bubbles. His soaked black coils hung over his eyes, dripping water down his toned hazelnut body. When he finally moved the coiled curtains, Paxton caught sight of sky-blue eyes.
Just like that ghost.
But…his looked so shattered.
“Who are you?” He spoke again with that same melodious quality. Only this time, there was a noticeable edge. Like a cliff blocking a powerful wave. “What are you doing in Lake Verity?”
Paxton scowled. Figures the monster had a trainer. It fought too well to be wild. But it didn’t make sense. Why attack? Paxton shook his head.
“My name is Paxton—Paxton Lotus of Floaroma Town,” he gulped. His heart pounded against his chest. “I’m here to defeat the monster in Lake Verity. That you, ain’t it?”
The trainer paused. And his eyes darkened with flecks of gray.
“I am the guardian of Lake Verity,” he began slowly as a storm brewed behind his lips. “My name is Turquoise. Turquoise Yukule.”
How did y'all like that chapter? It took some time to perfect, but I loved the twist it took! I'm happy with it.
Paxton's a new character I made. Lowkey based him off of a mix of the Aroma Lady and Gardener Trainer Classes. I'm starting to really fuse Trainer Classes for some reason and I love it lol
And yay, Turquoise is back! He's literally my favorite little bubble of sunshine. I love his character and did some changes to him too. I'll let y'all know his Trainer Class next chapter!
But I'd to hear from y'all. Feel free to leave a review or PM me. I'd love to hear your feedback. And I'll do my best to respond to all reviews as well!

Pokemon Snap 2 level - The Town
There’s a lot of urban Pokemon; critters which don’t seem like they belong or would adapt to a wild island without human habitation, which is difficult in Pokemon Snap because it’s supposed to be a wild place with absolutely zero humans, so what are any of them doing here? It’s already pushing it to have 800+ species crammed onto an island, so I figure it’s not pushing it that much more to have an abandoned town there somewhere. But… why is it abandoned?
I do love the liminal spaces, which is why we begin this level on the edge of a meadow, driving towards the town. There’s long and short grass with small flowers, and the pokemon we find here vary depending on whether it’s day or night. Run down wooden fences line the path into town as we meander into the abandoned town.
Tumblr media
Spearow, the originally angry birds, hop back and forth along a fence looking mad at each other during the day. They will get closer together if you lure them with apples, but will squabble if they get too close.
A fearow cruises high above during the day too, for a decent shot from below, but will dive down onto a surviving bird feeder if you land an apple in it.
At night venonats run through the grass and across your path.
Miltank graze in the overgrown grass, and of course they will wander closer for apples. At night they’re sleeping, but you can wake them with a pester ball.
Tumblr media
A comfey hangs out in the flowers, but is also attracted by apples. When it’s close to a Miltank, it will give it a flower crown, for extra bonus points and a very happy cow.
Following the milktank if you lure them out of the long grass, is a hard working herdier.
There is a meowth trying to sneak up on a spearow deeper in the level during the day, but at night it’s rummaging for something shiny in some debris.
A murkrow will argue with that same meowth over the shiny rubbish.
Near that rubbish is a honedge, but it only awakes and is recognizable when the pokeflute plays.
And closer to the buildings as the meadow ends, there’s a combee hive occupying space in a broken wall. Each time you hit it with a pesterball, more combees break away, but do it enough and the vespiquen comes out to defend it.
Tumblr media
Once we reach the buildings of this town, it’s apparent these houses are in ruins, bits of them blown apart, gardens overgrown and fences falling down.
At night, a venomoth flutters around a flickering streetlight. On nights of a full moon, they are more numerous.
During the day, a persian lounges on a roof, sunbaking.
An abra can be found in the gardens, but it teleports away as you get closer unless you distract it with apples.
We can see into a bedroom of a house where a wall has fallen away (or exploded?) where a kadabra inspects various objects and toys within it via telekinesis.
Natu have replaced the spearows perching on the garden fences to be cuter, less angry birds.
Tumblr media
At night, a Xatu ominously stares at you from whichever angle you look at it from, opening its wings as you get close.
Also at night, a furfrou dozes beside a front door. It will wake with either a pesterball or pokeflute and will start barking.
Espurr sit quietly and happily in gardens overgrown by flowers, minding their own business… unless you hit them with a pesterball, unleashing a spurt of psychic power.
Annoying the espurr makes a meowstic appear over the roof of a house. There’s a male one during the day, and a female one at night.
Through all of the suburban landscape, there is a Mime Jr that will follow you after photographing him once, popping up to ruin the shot if you’ve focused the camera too long. Enjoy your photobombing mini psychic clown!
The path is crossed by a pair of rockruff playing and chasing leaves blown by the breeze.
Their big sibling lycanroc catches up with them, day form during the day, and night form during the night.
Some of these forgotten and damages houses still have perfectly functioning doors, and who better than Klefki to help you open them and see inside? Lure a Klefki close to a door and it will open it for you!
Tumblr media
And some of those houses contain appliances like microwaves, washing machines and lawn mowers… perfect hiding spots for a rogue Rotom.
Now the path branches, and we can either head to the town square, that still looks bright and clean, or towards a more damaged area of town and its back alleys.
The town square looks fancy, honestly quiet well to do and upper class. There’s an open town square with a statue of some important human or other, a fountain and fancy cobblestone paths. In the distance, the road takes you past an ominous looking mansion with a massive gate before the end of the level.
Skitty scamper along the street, disappearing between some of the other buildings during the day. Sometimes they will chase their own tail.
At night a Delcatty walks that same path, though at a much more sedate, graceful pace.
A smeargle can be found during the day, painting graffiti on building walls.
At night, shuppets play in empty windows and long-forgotten flower pots.
During the day, a flock of pidove perch on the statue in the center of the town square, definitely not making a mess of it.
Tumblr media
An Espeon walks around the rim of the fountain, then sits to watch you approach.
An Alakazam meditates in the library, visible through a crumbled wall. It hovers in mid air, surrounded by an aura and floating books. The aura distorts your photos, unless you distract it with the pokeflute.
Mr Mime is performing in the town square. Random chance for there to be two of them.
A glameow stalks the player from the safe distance of the roof tops.
A stoutland, in all its shaggy glory guards a fancy bed in a kennel beside a house. Coax it up and out with apples to reveal three lilipups that were hiding beneath its fur.
At night, Mewtwo circles the statue in the otherwise abandoned town square. It’s shielded by an aura that takes three pesterballs to break. It ignored you before the aura was broken, then turns on you with angry, glowing eyes. One of the few pokemon capable of coherant speach, the first time you encounter it, it demands “What do you want?” with the voice in your head. Your vehicle continues on its path. On subsequent visits mewtwo instead asks “Back again?” and “Why are you alone?”
Tumblr media
Lure another klefki across the road to open the gate to the mansion.
If we go to the damaged back alleys instead, weaving behind the fancy buildings to the hidden areas behind them, we find instead:
Snubbull squabbling over food, which you can feed.
Purrloin raiding trash cans. Toss a pester ball in there to make them pop out.
A granbull gnawing on a fossil bone. Lure a purloin closer to it so that it chases the cat pokemon and abandons the fossil for you to reanimate later.
At night a purugly patrols the scene where granbull had been during the day, all the other pokemon intimidated away.
There is also a ghastly floating around at night, but you only see a haze until your photos are developed in the lab.
Trubbish can also be evicted from trash cans by throwing pesterballs into them.
Tumblr media
A Garbodor can also be revealed, but this time you have to throw a pesterball into a large dumpster.
Liepard lurks on the rooftops, stalking the player from a safe distance, until it jumps over the path to the roof on the other side in one location.
Scraggy forage and show off during the day. Lure two close together and they will engage in a display, each trying to show off the size of their ‘pants’.
A scrafty can be enraged enough to punch a secret panel off a wall, revealing a locked door to a secret facility. Good thing there’s another klefki nearby.
Tumblr media
And towards the end of the level is a barren field of crumbling debris, no plants, and no pokemon. An ominous, dark cocoon hovers above the ground, in which waits Yveltal, but it can only be activated after Xerneas has been found.
Tumblr media
A previous level, the Ocean, is here.

How the Pokémon Came Into Our Pokeballs
Tumblr media
INTRO
How the Pokémon Came Into Our PokéBalls. 10/30/99 (Intro.)
For my English class in late September of this year, I had to write my own myth. So, I figured "Why not make a myth about how Pokémon came to be."
My English teacher thought that it was a great story. So did my mom and a few other people. Since it was so good, I thought I'd feature it on this website. Click Here to read my story. Enjoy. :)
PAGE 1
9/22/99 Page 1. Some people say that the Pokémon came from the sky in a giant rock known as the Moon Stone. Others say that they originated from the depths of nature's elements. But, they are all not true... this is the true story.
A long, long time ago in the heavens above, there were such powerful gods as Zeus, Maheo, and many more. But, it all started with a rookie god, known as...Mewchu. He had thepower to help provide for the animals, plants, minerals, and to keep track of the seven natural powers of the universe: Fire, Grass, Lightning, Water, Fighting, Psychic, and the power of the Colorless Star.
Mewchu made sure that the animals and plants were fed from natures natures good foods. He made sure that nature's minerals, such as rocks, dirt from the ground, and the mucky messes were used for their purpose.
One day, Mewchu said to himself, "There must be a way to allow the animals, small and big, to do these tough chores, so that I may be able to be a little clean." Then, he thought, "Why not give some of the natural powers to a new type of creature." So, he went down to earth with the power to absorb the natural powers of earth, and share it. So, he stood... in the middle of the Pacific, surrounded by islands of seven and water.
He decided to start with making a powerful animal to assist him in his great task. Then, he found a weird creature on an island. It was mostly white, blue eyes, short arms, big feet, and a long tail with a pink fpsy tip. Mewchu has never seen such an animal, so he absorbed the power of Psychic from the stars, gave the creature a gentle rub on its back, and picked it up. And Mewchu said to the creature, "You, rare creature, have received the supernatural power of the Psychics from the stars above us. But you would need a name for you will be my assistant to make a new type of elemental creatures. I shall call you...Mew." And the Mew jumped for joy, then set him down with some wise words. "Mew," Mewchu said, "I want you to pick some animals that are here now, and share with them the Psychic power. For I would not be able to, because I may only share each elemental power only one time for one creature or more. I trust that you can share this power, while I handle the other six elemental powers." Then he set the Mew down, on its island and it went on its way.
PAGE 2
Mewchu decided to start with the power of grass, so he rubbed the grass of another island's ground, and he waved his hand over the trees. A triceratops began to lose its horns, and it turned into a creature called Bulbasaur. A caterpillar lost its fuzz; it grew a little bigger; it turned green, and it got the name of Caterpie. Another caterpillar's fur only shortened; it grew a small horn; it grew a little, like the Caterpie did; it turned orange, and it became a Weedle. A rattlesnake turned purple, and grew a single yellow stripe; it became an Ekans. A rat grew small horns, turned blue, and became a Nidoran (female). And, another rat grew bigger horns, turned pink, and became a Nidoran (male). A bat's legs turned to two tails as thin as a blade of grass, its ears grew bigger, and it became a Zubat. A tiny bush sprouted out of the ground, grew eyes, and became an Oddish. A fuzzy bush grew two teeth like a vampire; it became a Venonat. A bell-shaped palm shrunk; it became a Bellsprout. A mud puddle grew into a Grimer. Six eggs bounced and said, "Exeggcute." A puff of smoke became solid, and mentioned, "Koffing." A bunch of vines gathered around another Oddish, it was Tangela. A dragonfly grew, and said, "Scyther." The rocks got a body of armor, and said, "Pinser."
Then Mewchu dipped his hand into the firey volcano of another island, pulled it out, and waved his hand over the volcano. Many animals were below. A baby tyrannosaurus got fire on its tail, and yelled, "Charrrrmander!" A fox's tail split into six. Maybe, it's now a Vulpix. A dog turned orange, and growled, "Growwwllithe!" A pony got burned, and neighed. A chunk of ash was revived and turned into a Magmar. And, a big bird flew out the volcano, it was a Moltres.
Mewchu then dipped his hand in the ocean's waters, and gave another wave over another island with a big lake in the middle. A baby turtle and a squirrel on an island joined together to make a Squirtle. A fat duck turned yellow with a headache; it became a Psyduck. A tadpole got bigger with a swirl on its belly, a Poliwag came to be. A jellyfish's arms shrunk into two. It was then a Tentacool. A Slowpoke was formed when a baby hippopotamus grew a tail. A seal turned white, and grew a horn on its head; it was Seel. A shell opened up, and stuck out a tongue, hello Shellder. A Krabby came when a crab got crowned. A seahorse started to spit oil, a fish grew a horn on its head, and starfish grew a jewel. Here were a Horsea, a Goldeen, and a Staryu. A crown from a treasure grew onto a hard-shell fish; here was a Magikarp. A rare lochness monster grew a spiked shell on its back; it became a Lapras. A fossil was revived; it was an Omanyte. Out of an arctic ice berg, an Articuno broke out.
PAGE 3
Meanwhile, Mew shared its Psychic power with a Psyduck, and a Slowpoke. When Mew shared it with a rat, it fell asleep, and grew into an Abra. When Mew came across the body of a dead lizard, it summoned its spirit, and shared some "Gastly" secrets with it. Later, Mew met an anteater; Mew put it to sleep, and the anteater became a Drowzee. Mew found two monkeys, with an evolution. One turned into a Mr. Mime, and the other became a Jynx. Later in the night, Mew gave birth, and the baby Mew looked different. The new Mew gave its mother a psychic attack, and thrown it up a tree. Suddenly, the new Mew grew to the size that of a man with many years, It was a Mewtwo.
Meanwhile, Mewchu found a barren island with sand and rocks. He punched it, and out of the ground came the fighting and ground type creatures: Sandshrew, Diglett, Mankey, Machop, Geodude, Onix, Cubone, Hitmonlee, Hitmonchan, Rhyhorn, and a Kabuto.
Then Mewchu summoned a thunderstorm, and lightning struck another island. The lightning hit a little mouse, and the mouse grew into a Pikachu. Metallic minerals rose out of the ground of a small area of the island, and it formed to make a Magnemite. A coconut was struck with a piece of the metallic material carrying some of the electric power; the coconut turned metallic; it became a Voltorb. A wild cat was struck, and it became an Electabuzz. And out of the thunderous clouds came a Zapdos.
And finally, Mewchu planted a transparent star in the middle of the other island. And from the star came the Colorless creatures: Pidgey, Rattata, Spearow, Clefairy, Jigglypuff, Meowth, Farfetch'd, Doduo, Lickitung, Chansey, Tauros, Eevee, Porygon, and Dratini.     Before Mewchu bid farewell, he waved his hand over all seven islands, and most of the creatures evolved into more powerful creatures. And, then He shouted out, "May these creatures be helpful to the earth, and may they use their abilities wisely." Then, he said with a tear of joy, "Farewell,... Pokémon." And Mewchu flew back into the heavens.
The End.
This piece of prose was written by Chris during September of 1999, as an assignment for his twelfth grade English class, and is believed to be the earliest surviving piece of prose (though Bionic the character predates this by three years, his prose story wasn’t written until 2000). Tasked to come up with his own myth for his own mythology, Chris created an origin legend for the original 151 Pokemon. Apparently it got a solid grade (to be fair, its juvenile premise aside, this is one of Chris’s most grammatically correct works I’ve seen.) It was quickly uploaded to CWC’s Pokesite 2, where the Christorical community found it, and can be found here if you’re interested in reading it against a bright yellow backdrop. Despite the title, the story is not a history on the origin of Pokeballs, nor is it an explanation about how any specific Pokemon entered any specific Balls.
The cover, shown above, is an uncentered collage of pictures of Pokemon surrounding Chris’s name and title. I believe these pictures are from the N64 spinoff Pokemon Snap, where your job was to take photos of Pokemon in their natural habitats (this explains why they’re strangely, often poorly, framed - Chris took these himself.) From left to right, top to bottom, they are Charizard, Dragonite, two Starmies, Scyther, two Bulbasaurs, a flock of Charmanders, two Pikachus, Mew, Moltres, Zapdos, Articuno, two Dratinis, Magmar, three Jigglypuffs, Porygon, two more pictures of Mew, and one last Pikachu for the road. For some reason, those Starmies have a weird purple, yellow, and green color scheme that they never have anywhere in the game (normally they’re purple, gold, and red, and the at this point unreleased in the west shiny form is blue, red, and dark blue). Maybe Chris’s printer was running low on ink?
Chris’s first sentence seems to refer to one episode of the anime wherein Clefairys and Clefables are seen worshiping a giant Moon Stone, which in the games is what they use to evolve, and a scientist travelling with Ash and team theorizes that all Clefairy and their evolutionary relatives came on the giant Moon Stone meteorite from space. This is apparently the case for the Clefairy family (at least in the anime, the games are a bit more coy about stating whether or not they’re actually from space), as later they are shown operating spacecrafts. But never is it suggested that all Pokemon came from space at one point, especially not on the giant Moon Stone, at the time only the Clefairy family, Staryu and Starmie, and sometimes Mew had been said to be extraterrestrial in origin.
Chris invokes Zeus, the Greek thunder and sky god who also served as head god, and Maheo, the Cheyenne creator deity responsible for the earth. I imagine that these were the examples Chris’s English teacher gave him for creator gods, though Zeus really wasn’t much of a creator god so much as its current ruler (he was of the third generation of Greek gods).
Chris sets out an OC as the creator of the Pokemon universe - Mewchu. Obviously this is meant to tie in to what was at the time considered the highest of Pokemon Mew, but the -chu suffix implies some sort of close connection to the Pikachu family that’s never really expanded upon. Notably, about eight years after Chris made this, Mew’s role as top Pokemon was superseded by Arceus, who has something of a similar origin story to this Mewchu - at the beginning, Arceus was the only being in the void of nothingness, until he decided to create Dialga, thus creating time, and Palkia, thus creating space, and Giratina, thus creating antimatter. After creating the Lake Trio of Uxie, Azelf, and Mesprit, knowledge, willpower, and emotion respectively, Arceus disappeared, his job for the time completed. Notably, Mewchu’s design is never explained, so Chris’s creativity is limited to the name alone.
The elemental division in this story seems to draw solely on the elemental system of the TCG game, which uses an abridged system of types, which at the time consisted of just seven, Fire, Grass, Water, Lightning (or Electric), Fighting, Psychic, and Colorless (their term for Normal), while the reference to the Clefairy story and the Pokemon saying their names (which they don’t do in the video games or the card game) would imply that there are some anime influences in this story as well.
Apparently Mewchu did not create the earth, all he was in charge of was watching a bunch of animals that some other god created. In fact, in this story, Pokemon were created from real world animals. It is, of course, delightfully in character for Chris to have Mewchu create the 151 original species of Pokemon purely to help him do chores. These seven islands Chris mentions seem to be Chris’s inventions; it’s tempting to compare these islands to the Seven Grapefruit Islands from the Orange Islands arc of the anime but the episode that took place there had been released in Japan but not in the US so unless Chris was really paying attention to the Japanese releases of the anime it couldn’t have been an inspiration.
Mewchu’s first creation is Mew, the Pokemon considered the genetic predecessor of all other Pokemon, at least the original 151. While Mewchu is the master of all seven elements, Mew is only competent at one by Chris’s standards and is apparently only responsible for the Psychic-Type (by the standards of the TCG, which also includes the video games’s Ghost-Types) Pokemon.
The first Pokemon to be created are the Grass-Types (and Bug-Types and Poison-Types since those count as Grass-Types in the TCG), possibly referring to the first Pokemon in the Pokedex being Bulbasaur, who is the first listed here. Mewchu rubs the plant life of one of the seven islands and everything on the island begins mutating. Unlike God, Jesus, and The Bear, who tasked Adam and Eve to name the animals of the Garden of Eden, Mewchu makes the animals name themselves. Scyther is supposed to be a mantis, by the way, not a dragonfly.
To create Fire-Type Pokemon, Mewchu drenches animals in lava and sets them on fire. I guess that’s one way to make Fire-Type animals.
Another island is drowned underneath a tidal wave by Mewchu and the only survivors are those beasts that can instantly adapt (or Chris’s worded the first sentence poorly). Apparently Mewchu also caused some sort of oil spill because it says that Horsea began spitting oil (Horsea’s Pokedex entries mention it shooting ink like a squid, but ink is not oil.)
Next, Mew takes care of its singular duty, creating the Psychic- (and Ghost-) Types. Let it be known that despite the name Psyduck is in fact not Psychic-Type. After creating all the other Psychic-Types, Mew has a random baby (omitted is the sequence where Mew was on Maury trying to figure out who the father was. It was probably Slowpoke.) Said baby attacks its mother immediately after birth, and one of the two ends up getting thrown up a tree (easily this is the most confusing sentence in the piece). If we were to assume that this was Mew attempting to destroy her violent son Mewtwo, it might have been a reference to the birth of Hephaestus, who was deemed so hideous by his mother Hera that she threw him off Mount Olympus, crippling him, but this deep mythological cut is unlikely. Either way this child instantly grows into the canonically man-made Mewtwo. For whatever reason, Chris attributes all of the canonically man-made Pokemon, Mewtwo, Porygon, and the fossils revived by man Kabuto, Omanyte, and Aerodactyl to Mewchu and its little helper.
The Fighting- (and Ground- and Rock-) Types are passed over in a handwave, not even getting specific origins. It’s possible that since many of the Gen I Fighting-Types were humanoid (the Machop line, the Hitmons), Chris didn’t want to imply that any Pokemon were once humans.
In a similarly violent fashion as the Fire-Types, the Electric-Types are electrocuted to transform them into magical beings. Chris also offers an alternate take on the origins of the Voltorb - instead of being a Pokeball that somehow came to life, it was instead a coconut that came to life. Why then it sports the colors and patterns of a Pokeball is left unclear.
Lastly, Mewchu creates the Colorless (read: Normal-Type plus Dratini) Pokemon similarly to the Fighting-Types - in a long list. After giving some Pokemon a crash course on evolving, presumably finishing the complete 151, Mewchu scurried off. Whatever happened to Mewchu in the millennia afterward is left unknown. Did Mewchu create the rest of the Pokemon, the ones that didn’t exist when Chris wrote this? Did Mewchu cease to be? We’ll never know. I’d love it if Chris revisited this story this fall around its twentieth anniversary, have it be fifteen pages full of Pokemon origins. “And then, Mewchu and Mew got super high and said ‘you know what would be super cool? Flying Nazca Lines.’ and then they created Sigilyph.”

Pokémon FireRed Nuzlocke [Part 3]
Third segment of grindlocke.
We’re about to board some boat, where lies our only source of experience before Surge’s Gym. Also our rival. Aside from one Diglett that demanded murder, we’ve kept to not fainting anything outside of battles.
Things are probably about to get even harder. Current team, we salute you.
Tumblr media
I really hope there’s lots of people in here.
Youngster Tyler counts as a people. He has a level 21 male Nidoran. I. Crud, I want to try out Ismail. The Poison just makes me twitchy each time, even though I’ve got a decent level advantage. Ismail manages it in one shot. Yay Magnitude.
Lass Ann is on the right ship, and she has a level 18 Pidgey. The female Nidoran can feed Ismail.
...This just isn’t fast enough. I have to re-decide to focus on Heero and Allenby. Even though um. This. Person in this other room has a level 19 male Nidoran. And I can’t. Ismail needs to get some hits in eventually. She’ll take the level 19 female one, too.
Oh, his name’s Gentleman Arthur.
Gentleman Thomas is next. All these rich people with cruise tickets. And level 18 Growlithe. Ismail, you want a stab?
No, because one Bite takes her down to almost half health. What the fuck. Allenby, save the day!
Tumblr media
Horsea! Level 17, that’s a Noin target. Level 17 Shellder is as well. But I’m going to switch into Allenby because Noin’s eaten two Leers. Yeah, Icicle Spear could have hurt. Allenby stays in to manage the Tentacool.
Never mind, Allenby is confused and poisoned. Noin, get back in there. Good girl. You made it to level 20!
Sailor Leonard doesn’t care about your effort, and has no interest in letting Allenby back upstairs to heal. He has a level 21 Shellder. I am uncomfortable. Heero and Ember make it work, though. And she makes it to level 26!
Sailor Dylan with three more level 17 Horsea for Noin.
Tumblr media
Level 18 Tentacool. It knows Supersonic. Heero. I’m begging you. Thank you.
Staryu’s up next, so Noin is back up. Level 21 get.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rocking.
Sailor Phillip wants to go now. He has a level 20 Machop that looks to be wanting some smacks from Allenby.
Sailor Phillip shares a room with Fisherman Barny. Level 17 Tentacool. Heero can take it. Noin takes the Staryu, though. As is only proper. Noin takes the Shellder, too.
That’s the lower deck. We’re not looking too shabby. I’d prefer better, but that’s me reacting to my standards where I’m allowed to have a bit more control over the leveling process.
Up the stairs!
Tumblr media
I like how annoyed all the fishermen look. I would also wear that hoodie. Level 17 Goldeen. I’m betting it knows Supersonic. Heero makes it to level 27! Allenby will fight the other Goldeen. Even though they probably know Peck. Oh, his last pokemon is a Tentacool.
Gentleman Brooks has a single Pikachu at level 23. Hi Pikachu.
Gentleman Lamar goes back to Growlithe. Allenby, because Fire is useless against it. Ponyta is next. I... will try Ismail out for a turn. She lives to see level 19.
Lass Dawn has a Rattata. Also a Pikachu.
Up another set of stairs. Hoping I don’t pick the side of the hall that leads to Turq, because no, I don’t think I am mentally prepared for that. Awesome, found the way that leads out to deck.
Tumblr media
His level 17 Machop asks for death. So does his Tentacool.
Sailor Edmond has a level 18 Machop. Heero makes it to level 28. Noin will tackle the Shellder. ...Any time my pokemon want to stop hurting themselves in confusion, they can. Just saying.
...I think that might be it for trainers on the ship.
Except for Turq.
Rival extraordinaire.
Heero up front.
Tumblr media
Why did I think this was a good idea?
Okay, let’s see the damage.
Oh?
His Pidgeotto is only level 19. That’s a good start. Heero takes it out, and Turq immediately goes over to Wartortle. ...Noin, let’s. let’s see if you’ll be okay against that. You should be, right?
Wartortle is level 20. Has Bite. Bite packs a bite.
Noin stop flinching. Yes, he’s poisoned, but stop flinching.
Spending a turn on a Potion and letting the poison finish him off.
Kadabra next. Heero time. Raticate follows, and Allenby is up.
Wow.
We’re all alive.
Tumblr media
Access to the third Gym achieved!
We’re going to teach Quatre the Meowth Cut.
Tumblr media
Hello darkness my old friend.
Trainers before trauma. Let’s go.
Sailor Dwayne has a Pikachu. It is level 21. For the second Pikachu, Ismail is going to be given a chance. Because Thunder Wave is a thing and I hate watching Heero freeze in place over and over.
...Never mind, Allenby, save the defenseless wonder.
I’m a little worried about that. Ismail’s Defense is awful. Ground is really useful to have, and Dugtrio doesn’t need something like trading to evolve, but Defense that bad needs a higher Attack stat, maybe. I really don’t want to spend time training anything I can’t use.
Tumblr media
Level 21 Voltorb. Heero food. Level 21 Magnemite. More Heero food.
Heero is level 29 now.
For the last trainer in the Gym, Ismail gets to be out first. That damage she always takes from switching is just really sad. ...Ismail vs. level 23 Pikachu. Eek. One Quick Attack takes out more than half her health. Magnitude 6 brought the Pikachu to red, but still.
...Oh, that guy probably had a name. Whoops.
Switch games. I prefer mine to belong to a different console.
I hate this Gym.
Door open.
The question is if I want to give Ismail a chance to grow, or just let Heero handle it.
It isn’t a question. Heero is handling it.
Tumblr media
Where is Surge’s hidden war lore?
Level 21 Voltorb out first. And it’s gone. Pikachu next.
...I want Ismail to try. I am the wrong personality for doing this right. Oh, it’s only level 18. Good job, Ismail.
Raichu is Heero’s all the way, though. Level 24 and soon to be (hopefully) out of our way.
I hate Thunder Wave. And Double Team. Uh, Ismail, under the theory that it’s going to go for another Electric move this turn, get in now. Because your big sister Heero is a paralyzed mess and in the orange. Yes, again.
Yay, that worked.
But Magnitude missed and Quick Attack does more than half.
...Allenby, need a favor.
Tumblr media
The level isn’t the problem with the Raichu. It’s the Double Team and not being able to take risks that could faint anything. That is one nasty creature. I am so glad it’s gone. I’m so glad I currently don’t have to wonder about what next time will be like.
So, what’s next?
Tumblr media
I hate.
About those Repels, self...
Super, now I have five.
Tumblr media
COULD YOU PLEASE FUCKING NOT.
Okay, good, running away worked. Uh. Heero, I know you’re the highest level, but we can’t have you in front while we’re down here, because if another level 29 Dugtrio spawns and has Arena Trap, you’re going to die.
Tumblr media
Remember when Flash was an HM?
Meowth whose name I can’t remember, please tell me you learn it. Quatre! And you can! Who’s a good boy? Who’s a good boy?
Off to Cerulean again. By going the way I got there in the first place, because I just can’t go through the tunnel again. It has left me scarred. I would rather go through a tunnel full of Zubat that I can’t kill for exp. than go through that horrible place ever again.
For the sake of full context, I really love Diglett.
The first pokemon I ever trained legitimately to level 100 was a Dugtrio.
This run is testing that love.
Tumblr media
We made it!
I don’t really know who I want in front at this point. Ismail needs levels to be anything close to helpful, but where those levels are earned is irrelevant, I personally want Noin to murder everything but that’s not the most useful, Heero could continue to kill all the things but maybe I could use less of that focus, and Allenby is always a favorite.
So I guess I’ll go by what trainer’s standing in front of me and whether or not I remember or care enough to switch who’s in front?
Tumblr media
I sort of didn’t care, but also Picknickers have some variety to them so it matters less. Meh.
She has an Oddish. It is level 18 and I just. can’t. with Absorb wars. Heero time. For the level 18 Bellsprout as well. Noin and Heero can switch with the next Oddish again. With the next Bellsprout, Ismail’s getting some switch love.
And that gets Heero poisoned because of course it does.
Ah, Hiker Jeremy is next. Noin should have better fortune here. Unless he’s a Machop Hiker.
...Fucker.
The level 20 Machop hungers for blood with Seismic Toss. Which Allenby now wants to learn, and shall, because moves that automatically do some damage are a comfort in times of trouble. No more Low Kick.
Jeremy has an Onix. Ismail, go forth.
Ismail, don’t get Binded.
Sigh. Well, you killed it. Good job, kiddo. You and Allenby both get a Potion because we jumped a ledge that makes getting back to the Pokemon Center in Cerulean annoying.
Tumblr media
Son, this is not how you say hi to strangers.
Camper Chris with the Growlithe. This is a job for Allenby! The Charmander that follows is a job for Ismail! Hey, that even works out!
Bug Catcher Brent is next, so Heero gets to be up front. Facing a level 19 Beedrill. Two of them, even.
Heero is level 30!
Grass reached on the way back to the Pokemon Center again. First thing that pops up is Ekans. Got that. Second is Spearow. Got that. Ekans. Rattata. Spearow. ...Yeah, fine, I’ll check if there’s even anything new this route.
Serebii says there isn’t. Sad face.
Tumblr media
I am both glad and sad it’s not my job to comb through Pokemon games and assign every single character a new name. Level 20 Caterpie. Conner, why would you make your life this difficult?
Ismail, you can have the Weedle. Please don’t get poisoned. You didn’t! And you made it to level 21! ...Wow those stats make me worried. ...No, you are not learning Fury Swipes. That move is obnoxious.
Heero can step in and help with the level 20 Venonat.
Tumblr media
He’s got a level 19 Rattata up front. Oh jolly gee. ...Should these maybe be Ismail food? The Sandshrew’s Noin’s, obviously, but he’s got two other things. Ekans. Ismail. Eat the poison creatures, my child. One more Sandshrew, and one more Noin fight.
Tumblr media
Oh nice, does Quatre have pickup?
(I am an observant trainer raising my pets well.)
Persim Berry get!
Hiker Brice is our next contestant. In accordance, Noin’s up front for the level 20 Geodude. All two of them before Ismail goes up against the Machop. Fight won.
Tumblr media
You people are allowed to say hi.
Oh, whoops.
Picknicker Caitlin with the level 23 Meowth! Ismail’s in front for this, and hopefully no one has to swoop in and help. What do you know, that worked. Good job, Ismail. Even if your HP and various Defenses make me want to cry.
Hiker Alan up now. Level 21 Geodude first. Another shot for Ismail.
Tumblr media
This feels like it might be bad.
Tumblr media
Aaaaand that would be why.
...
...
At the risk of sounding callous, I was starting to feel like this wasn’t going to work out, anyway. Better to know now, right?
Like I’m sad.
But not remotely surprised.
That 15 HP got lost to one Meowth Scratching her. I was dancing a fine line of providing chances and seeing if Ismail could even survive long enough to be of use.
Overly mean of me, perhaps. I think another day probably would have yielded different results.
Sigh. Noin to clean things up with the Geodude, and then the level 21 Onix that follows.
Tumblr media
I’d kept everyone alive so far.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
You tried.
Anyway. We made it to Route 10. We can catch a thing in the grass here. Not a Diglett. But. Well. I’m sure we’ll make do without.
Spearow. Spearow.
Voltorb!
Tumblr media
Mood, my friend.
Your new name is Zaft.
You can be in the party instead of the box.
Good stopping point?
Good enough stopping point.

Pokemon of the California Chaparral!
I was inspired by a recent field trip i went on and couldn’t stop thinking about it until i made this post. Be warned: some of these aren’t completely scientifically based. As diverse as pokemon are, some of these just straight up dont match with local fauna, but i had an empty niche that was bugging me. This is by no means meant to be comprehensive, it’s just for my personal enjoyment. Also im a lazy typer so if you want an explanation on some of these that dont fully explain it, feel free to send me an ask and ill explain my reasoning. Also they arent in any particular order, just the order that i thought of them. ANYWAY!!!!! I put it under the cut cuz it big
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ponyta and Rapidash
Who woulda thought i would have a fire pokemon in the chaparral huh. For those of you that don’t know this extremely specific habitat, the chaparral is characterized by lots of flammable flora that facilitate wildfires. The idea behind this is that herds of ponyta and rapidash were accidentally released when they were brought to the Americas by settlers and, being fire pokemon, gravitated toward the hot chaparral regions. They have a particular taste for manzanita.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vulpix and Ninetales
I bet ur starting to see a pattern here. These would be the equivalent to the gray fox, just… fire type. Hey, I never said all of these entries would be exciting
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Cyndaquil, Quilava, and Typhlosion
Before anyone gets on me, i know they are supposed to be badgers. If you didnt know, the california state flag has a grizzly bear on it. The california grizzly. Who wouldve guessed? Anyway, i needed two things in this ecosystem : a small mammal and a friggen bear. This gives me the best of both worlds let me live also i may have wanted an excuse to include one of my favorite starters
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Fletchling, Fletchinder, and Talonflame
Im only on my fourth entry this is going to take forever. I think these ones are pretty self explanatory
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Houndour and Houndoom
Now i understand these are a bit of a stretch. My idea is that theyre the equivalent to coyotes. Sue me
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Spearow and Fearow
Did you know theres a shit ton of birds that call this place their home? Well I do and what better birds to represent this rough back country than these mean ass birds right here
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Doduo and Dodrio
These are your roadrunners. Maybe more of a southern thing than a foothills thing, but it didnt feel right not to include them
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Vullaby and Mandibuzz
In heat this bad, you can expect a lot of dead things. Bon appetit
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Rufflet and Braviary
Little known fact: in Wallace, CA along hwy 12, theres an eagle nest right on top of a power pole. Its neat. If you ever find yourself in buttfuck nowhere, CA make sure you keep an eye out
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Noibat and Noivern
I already know this is the one of the ones im gonna get shit for and i was so so close to not including them. There are pretty extensive cave systems in the sierra foothills though so i feel like im justified
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Zubat, Golbat, and Crobat
You can never have too many bats
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tauros and Miltank
At least in the sierra foothills, you see a lot of cows. Its good ranching country and i cant say those gold miners didnt utilize it after the spanish had the valley mowed down of its natural grasses
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bunnelsby and Diggersby
Jack rabbits are very common in this area and of all the rabbit pokemon, these seemed the most hardly and likely to live in satans playground
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Deerling and Sawsbuck
These pokemon would only appear in the chaparral during the spring and autumn. In Spring, they would pass through on their way to the sierras in order to avoid the hot summers of the valley and in fall they would head back down to avoid the cold mountain winters. This was a common practice of the native tribes in the area, who based their behavior off of the migrating sawsbuck
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Bonsly and Sudowoodo
Idk to me they are reminiscent of certain shrubs that can be found here and thats their whole shtick is to mimic trees
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Grubbin, Charjabug, and Vikavolt
Now i know i know these are stag beetles and i know they dont belong in california. i just wanted some shit cool beetle and this is like the quintessential shit cool beetle
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Scattterbug, Spewpa, and Vivillon (continental)
Butterflies are a pretty big thing in california. I just dont see the wurmple line being here (no silkworms) , but you could probably put the caterpie line and weedle line too. Maybe even venonat and venomoth. Use your imagination, i just didnt feel like putting a million different bugs in here that are basically the same
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Joltik and Galvantula
There are ticks and tarantualas here. nuf said. and there ARE pokes for joltik to feed on they just arent mammals idk throw an electric mammal in there if it really bugs you (pun unintended) that much
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hoppip, Skiploom, and Jumpluff
When i thought of these, I really had the cottonwoods of the riparian and mixed conifer habitats in mind. They have wind dispersed seeds so i can just imagine these guys just floating on through not staying too long. It just felt lonely with no grass pokemon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Helioptile and Heliolisk
Yes i see these more as desert pokemon, but chaparral is just a step above the desert. Game freak really needs to diversify their lizard selection but tbh i didnt look too terribly hard after i picked out these dudes it was getting late and i was getting tired
Tumblr media
Seviper
This is another one i almost didnt include. I wanted something to represent the rattlesnake, but the only snake with a rattle was ekans and thats clearly a constrictor. Anyway, finally a place seviper can be free from harassment by zangoose
Tumblr media
Dunsparce
And to conclude our list is everybodys favorite burrowing bee snake thing!
If you actually read through all of this, thanks so much! I dont expect this to get much attention, but it was fun to make so thats what matters ^-^ and like i said before, if you think i missed anything or want a deeper explanation into one of my picks, just let me know!

Fanfic Preview Part 3
The late afternoon sun glared down upon Fern as she trekked along the steep, gravely path on her way back toward Konikoni City. She wiped her sweaty brow, determined to reach her destination before nightfall. If she kept up a steady pace, she calculated she could make it by then. Another minute passed and a cool breeze kicked up, inviting her to stop and take a moment to enjoy it, which she did while gazing out over the sea, tinted with gold from the sinking sun. Her thoughts drifted, imaging all the adventures, trials and victories she had yet to experience. She glanced down proudly at the new Z-Ring around her wrist, it’s weight a reminder of all that. The wind continued down the slope of the hill to her left, rustling the trees and making a sound almost like a whisper; she briefly imagined it was her parent’s voices, asking her to some home. Her grip on the straps of her backpack tightened and she bit her lip.
No. She was definitely doing the right thing.
Re-shouldering her load, both literally and figuratively, she started back down the path. Looking out at the vast blue ocean again as she walked, she didn’t notice the small hole in front of her until her toes got caught in it. With a yelp and flailing her arms, she stumbled a couple steps trying to regain her balance-before plunging down the side of the hill.
Rolling head-over-heels, slamming through bushes and grazing past tree-trunks before continuing her dizzying descent, screaming in terror the entire time, she finally crashed into a large boulder and her world went black… ——————————————————————-
Pain…the first thing Fern was aware of when she started to come to was the searing, stabbing pains throughout her body. She groaned, trying to roll herself into a sitting position, finally succeeding on her second attempt.
The next thing she realized was that it was now dark, a large, silvery moon hanging in the star-studded sky and she wondered how long long she had been there. Feeling something sharp digging into her thigh, she reached into her pocket and found, to her disgust, her phone broken into several pieces. Leaning against the rock, she rubbed her temples, attempting to get her wits about her before gasping and reaching to see if her Pokemon were there. Luckily, they were still firmly attached to her belt. Sighing in relief, she gingerly stretched her limbs, testing their strength before bracing her hands on the boulder and pulling herself to her feet-whereupon she immediately howled in agony and fell back to the ground, clutching her right leg. Though her entire body still ached, the pain coming from her leg was white-hot and sharp as a knife digging into her flesh.
In horror she realized it was broken.
Whimpering, she looked about her, feeling the panic and dread beginning to rise and choke out her ability to remain calm. She was alone; completely, utterly alone in the thick tangles of jungle at night with a broken leg, a broken phone, and no way to get back up the steep hill she had fallen down.
“Wha-what do I do..?” she said to the air, her voice cracking.
A furtive rustling to her left made her whip her head in that direction, the sharp pain it sent through her neck making her instantly regret the movement-but the multiple sets of tiny, glowing red eyes in the undergrowth made her forget that. As she peered into the darkness, several Rattata crept forward, their noses and whiskers twitching as they regarded her almost hungrily.
“GO AWAY!” Fern screamed, tossing a Pokeball, “Fang! Quick, use Venoshock!”
A burst of light revealed her Venonat, who swiftly unleashed a stream of noxious liquid toward the Rattata. Screeching angrily, they scattered and vanished into the bushes. Proudly puffing out his chest, Fang bounced over to Fern and looked up at her curiously. Sniffling, she reached out and pulled him into her arms, hugging him tightly. She felt his tiny mouth moving against her shoulder as he chittered in concern.
“Oh Fang…” she sniffled, feeling the tears started to spill over, “I’m so sorry…I…I really messed up this time…we’re stuck. My leg is broken and I can’t move. I don’t know what to-” suddenly a flash of inspiration hit, and she held out the small bug to look at him, “Fang, I need your help. I can’t walk, but you can. I need you to climb up the hill and go find help. Find a trainer, or a hiker, or anyone, and lead them here. This is a busy road so even if it’s late you should find someone before too long. Please, can you do that?”
The small bug drew himself up and nodded, bumping his head against her once more before turning and starting up the hill. Fern smiled, her heart filled with hope-but her smile quickly faded as she watched Fang get only a short ways before getting tangled in the thick foliage and slipping back down. She watched him try again and again, scrambling a short ways up the steep hill before getting caught or losing his footing and falling back to where he had started. He chattered loudly and desperately, trying harder and harder, until it was obvious he wasn’t going to make it. Concerned he was going to get hurt, Fern held out her arms again.
“Fang! Stop…come here.”
He hesitated before slowly waddling back to her, sitting in front of her looking utterly miserable. Leaning forward, Fern hugged him tightly.
“It’s okay…” she murmured into his thick, slightly scratchy fur-like coat, “You did your best. You’re not from Alola, so you’re not used to the terrain. …I should have thought of that. You can keep me company and if those Rattata come back you can chase them off,” she dug out a second Pokeball, “I have another plan.”
————————————————————–
“The moon sure is bright tonight!”
“Of course it is! It’s a full moon.”
“Heh heh heh! I got a full moon for ya!”
“For the luva-how old are you?!”
Two young men walking along the road both burst into laughter, in high spirits after an evening of drinking and hanging out with friends. As they rounded a bend, a Salandit suddenly zipped into view, running up to them and circling their legs, shrieking forcefully.
One of the men yelped and clung to the other’s arm, “Yo! What the-?! What is this thing’s problem?”
Rolling his eyes, the other pulled his arm free, “Barry, calm down! It’s just a little Salan-YEOWCH!” As he spoke, the small Pokemon nipped his ankle and darted away, then back toward them, then away again.
They stared in confusion as it repeated this strange display, looking more and more frantic.
Barry turned to his partner, “Hey Mike…it looks kinda like he wants us to follow him.”

He wants to become the worlds greatest Pokemon trainer
He loves his Pokemon more then anything
Put’s them first no matter what
He’s the sort of trainer that talks big but can’t win battles for shit
He gets advice from his companions and rethinks his battle approach for his Pokemon
He starts winning
He’s actually an amazing trainer
He’s getting better every day
General:
He found a Wingull with a broken wing when he was a child, and took it to the Pokemon centre
Once it was healed, he tried to release it
But it refused to leave his side
Wingull was his first Pokemon and they’re still the best of friends
Rin was overjoyed when it evolved into Pelipper
He received Chespin from Professor Sycamore
He found Litten abandoned and hungry under a bridge in Alola
Befriended it and took it in
The rest he caught
Yukio:
Tumblr media

General:
When his twin brother started his Pokemon journey he challenged Yukio to a gym battle
He made Yukio forget the 2 badge rule just for him
They argued about it a lot but Yukio got sick of Rin’s whining so gave in and accepted the battle
It didn’t matter anyway
Because Rin lost miserably
He swears he’ll come back stronger and win a rematch
Yukio can’t wait for that day
When he was a child, he was bullied a lot at school
When Rin wasn’t there to protect him he’d run of and hide
He was crying in the woods and an Eevee found him
It followed him around after that and protected him
It later evolved into Umbreon

As a trainer:
She’s a gym leader in Meadowlark city

She isn’t the best gym leader because she’s really shy
She also doesn’t like seeing Pokemon get hurt
She often neglects her responsibility as a gym leader so she can spend time in her garden with her Pokemon
She treats her Pokemon kindly and enjoys looking after them
She feeds them Pokebeans and berries that she grows in her garden
General:
Rin came to battle her and she was nowhere to be found
So he looked for her and discovered a beautiful blonde girl in a breathtaking garden
He was shocked when he found out she was the gym leader
Shiemi apologised for making him come all this way for nothing
Rin yells at her and tells her to take her post seriously
She’s not only neglecting the trainers who want a Leaf badge but also her Pokemon who would love to battle alongside her
So he vows to help her
Rin helps Shiemi with her shyness
Shiemi asks if she can travel along with Rin whilst she’s learning how to be a real person
Her mom looks after her gym for her whilst she’s away
Once she’s experienced the world a bit she can’t wait to continue her grandmothers legacy and be the best gym leader she can be

She grew up with her grandmothers Pokemon so they all knew her and loved her

Welp looks like this is something I spent my time on - Class 1A and their first pokémon! Some of them more obvious than others, look at me go off blabbering about the hows and whys under cut~
Bakugou’s got a Quilava, for obvious look-alike reasons - just like Bakugou himself his Quilava is already pretty damn strong (he’s been training with him for as long as he’s wanted to be a hero, after all), but not as strong as he could be, which is why he’s not evolved just yet. I’d say Baku’ll manage to evolve him by the end of his first year of highschool, after the whole process of growth he’s going through in the manga right now, once he’ll know himself and will be kind to himself enough to let himself pull out his full potential
Kirishima has a Lycanroc! Again, because I’ve never seen a pokémon looking more like Kirishima than Lycanroc’s Midnight form. She’s been training with Kirishima day and night since Kiri got his small child hands on a super small pretty anonymous Rockruff and evolved about a week before entering UA - about at the same time Kiri got his own makeover, actually. She loves Kiri so much and you never see Kirishima without her beside him. It could nearly be intimidating, weren’t it that they’re both sunshine incarnated
Denki and his Joltik! Most people like to link Kaminari to a pikachu, but personally I think a smaller pokémon would work better for him. Something so small that can easily go unnoticed, a bit, sadly, like Kaminari himself. Anyway, it was more Joltik the one choosing Kaminari than the other way around - actually, Denki has at least six running around his room at home, but this one specifically bonded with him the most. He likes to feed off Kaminari’s own stored electricity, and when Kaminari runs out he doesn’t mind sharing his own. It’s still a Joltik because Denki just... procrastinated on putting effort into training him. He’s probably gonna evolve sometime during Denki’s second UA year, cause he really has to nearly start from zero here.
(okay were done with the too lenghty blabber, shorter ones from now on)
Uraraka gets a Timburr, because to be honest, there’s no pokémon that fits her better. He’s the son of Uraraka’s father’s Conkeldurrs, and he’s just about to evolve! Ochako can feel it! They’re just about there!!! It still hasn’t happened though. They wonder why?
Iida gets a Ninjask because it’s the fastest pokémon, as easy as that - he got her from his brother when he was a little more than just a kid, and he’s been diligently training her ever since. She’s been evolved for a while, now
Deku’s Treecko! Choosen because of resemblance reasons - even though Izuku’s been trying to have him evolve for as long as he can remember, it just isn’t happening. It’s an incredibly clever pokémon, but strength just isn’t on his side (...Baku might or might not have used to make fun of him, too). Since entering UA Izuku hasn’t tried to use him to fight anymore, and maybe that was the right thing to do to finally let him grow enough to evolve. Who knows.
I’ve been debating on Todoroki for a while, but in the end his first pokemon had to be an ice type. She used to be his sister’s, but young Todo bonded with her so much that Fuyumi gave her to him. Endeavour does not approve. Todoroki does not give a fuck.
Tsuyu has a Politoed, and I don’t even think I have to explain why. At the moment, she probably has the highest level first pokémon, just like she’s the best one at controlling her quirk. She can’t really have Politoed evolve any more than this, but there’s still lotsa improving and growing into themselves they both have to do
Tooru’s Kecleon is a really strong one - even though no one has ever seen her fight. When do they fight? Who do they fight even? We just don’t know. They’ve started training with Mashirao a bit lately, though.
Mashirao gets a Mankey because of resemblance and fighting style - she used to be a pretty weak thing when Ojiro found her, but he promised that he would make her a top pokémon just like he would become a hero even without a good quirk. He’s keeping his word.
There’s. Literally nothing I have to say about this. Tokoyami’s family probably just hands Murkrows to every newborn member. Toko and his Murkrow’s personalities are so alike it’s nearly freaky.
The shiniest pokémon for the shiniest child! Only it’s still a Mareep, because Aoyama was too preoccupied with fantasising about his future Ampharos to actually train his Mareep enough to evolve into one. He’ll get there, sooner or later.
Sero was an hard one to pick, but in the end I gave him a Darumaka for the similar expression they have - babies have the nicest relationship between any student and their pokémon right after Kiri and his Lycanroc, they love each other just that much. She’s about to evolve! When it’ll happen it’ll be a p huge surprise for Sero, he isn’t keeping track at all.
Jirou’s Noibat flew in her room when she was just a kid, scared and alone - she’s never left ever since, obviously. Sometimes Jirou tries to make her go back to her pokéball, but for being a Noibat the pokémon likes being outside way too much. Usually plastered on Jirou’s face. You grow used to that, Jirou assures you.
Mina’s Venonat is the softest fluffball, friendly with everyone, incredibly noisy, a bit of a clumsy mess, just like Mina herself. Mina wasn’t really thinking about having her become stronger and evolve till a couple of months before entering UA, so it’s going to take a while before she actually reaches evolving level.
Actually? Actually actually?? I just found hilarious the idea of the smallest boy with the hugest pokémon. Mineta’s Wailmer is a boy, like every and each of Mineta’s pokémon, and he’s really far away from evolving. For some reason, he loves Mineta with all of his very huge heart.
Momo was the hardest to find a starter for, but in the end I went for Abra because Alakazam is the pokémon with the highest IQ. She doesn’t use Abra to fight, never has and never will, and Abra absolutely does not mind because her fave pastime is just. Lay there as Momo reads to her. Anyway, Momo’s had Abra long enough that she’s about to evolve despite of that - Jirou’s more excited about this than Momo is, tbqh. She’ll love her Abra the same way whatever shape she takes.
Sato and his Swirlix, was there even any doubt on this. He’s so soft and so nice and so happy, the girls of the class are constantly all over him - some boys might resent Sato over that a little bit
Kouda gets a Jigglypuff, mostly because it looks soft and evolves into a bunny. Kouda’s had him since he was all but a small Igglybuff - he’s pretty strong, but Kouda’s still debating over whether it’s the right time to have him evolve again or to wait just a bit more
Shouji! Our last one! I was tempted to give him a number of other pokémons, but Inkay is it in the end, because it’s the one with the most arms since the start - he’s a pretty quiet little thing, Shouji’s Inkay, but he’s actually really strong. He’ll evolve soon, Shouji thinks, but even if it doesn’t happen he doesn’t really mind - after all, an Inkay is easier to keep constantly out of the ball compared to a Malamar, and his Inkay really doesn’t like being coped up inside.

November 17th and 18th, 2017
Extra long update here, comin' in real hot!
After some research, I established my plan going forward. The first step of that plan is to retrieve Arctid, my Venonat from Route 15, from the PC, and start ascending Silph Co. Psychic coverage is going to be very useful, and since my Jynx Plan A is foiled, Venonat will have to do until I can get something better.
Of course, once I'm in Silph Co. it becomes clear that that's where I was supposed to go first - the trainers are nothing to my Pokemon. Which... confuses the heck out of me, given that Koga is definitely meant to be Gym 5. Like, do you want me to be in Fuschia City or not?
Of course, once Arctid hits a level where I'm like "okay maybe now I can actually use him to fight this thing he has the type advantage against", he dies up good. Siiigh. Well, at least it means I won't have a big hole of "unable to catch anything but still not technically FAILING a capture" on my big list of captures by location. I head back to Route 14, where I quickly replace Arctid with another Venonat, this one dubbed Sciari. Back to Silph Co. I go!
Heh. TM for Selfdestruct. Good joke, video game.
I made the smart decision to actually look up Blue's team before heading in to fight him and... yeah, he's a bit too tough. Grinding time!
Oh, while I'm out, I might as well fish on Route 19. Goldeen is a dupe, but Staryu sure ain't! Boy, if I hadn't already spent my one and only ever Psychic TM on Lola, Staryu would be SO useful. Or if it like... learned Psychic STAB moves. Seriously, what is with movesets this gen? Every single Pokemon is such trash. Sandslash literally doesn't even get any ground type moves outside of TM. It might as well have been straight up Normal.
Grinding literally takes the entire rest of the 17th. That and losing at Pokemon Cards, but hey, this isn't a "let's nuzlocke Pokemon TCG" blog, is it? (Also how would you even do that? Burn every card that dies in battle? Only buy one booster pack at any given store you visit? Lmao)
While grinding, Moschops tries to learn Focus Energy, which... is another hilarious joke. Both because it's at such a high level, and because it's supposed to quadruple the crit rate... but it actually QUARTERS it, making you almost never get a crit after using Focus Energy.
Sciari, on the other hand, learns Psybeam, which means I can finally stop mashing B every time it tries to level up, and turn it into the beautiful moth it was always meant to be.
Psybeam in hand, my first move when I started playing the next day was to fight my way through the Fighting Dojo. I actually did this so soon after waking up that, when claiming my Pokemon, my errant finger erroneously hit "start" instead of "select" when naming the Hitmonlee I claimed. Its name is "B", but uh. Please pretend that it's "Bruce." Not that I'm using it. I HAVE my Fighting type.
I then checked out Koga's gym trainers, since I was on such a roll, and, funny enough... literally only the one dude with a Level 38 Hypno was even close to a challengingly high level. Everything else was a piece of cake. Koga included.
Oh, except for that Level 42 Weezing. That's pretty nuts, right? Well, actually... Maybe not.
Gen 1's AI tech is so primitive that NPCs, even gym leaders, will make real boneheaded moves in the interest of type superiority. Famously, confronting Lance with a Poison type makes you nigh untouchable, since most of his Pokemon will use Agility since Psychic is super effective, without even checking to see if Agility does damage.
His Weezing knows 2 poison moves, Smokescreen... and Selfdestruct. All I need to beat him, besides Cingu and Sciari, is something that resists poison, and can either for sure tank a Selfdestruct OR... that I don't mind losing.
Remember vlad?
My team for Koga is Cingu, Sciari, Lanius (my highest leveled team member at the time) and Vlad. His other Pokemon are easy peasy.
And as expected, when he switches in Weezing, I switch in Vlad... and he blows himself up. That's Koga's gym badge! Which also mens I can Surf outside of battle! Whoo-hoo!
First destination (floating from Pallet on Bernie's tummy, repels on), for easy flying, is Cinnabar Island. Now, I've mentioned my mysterious plans here... I'll discuss those later. I have not yet put them into effect.
Instead, I think it's high time we take down Dingus. I box Bernie back up, and for once my actual team is the same number of Pokemon as his team.
The one concern I had was with Gyarados, but I got it sleeping and lemme tell ya... it never woke back up. B)
Now I have a Lapras! Her name is Nessie. Of course since nothing in this game can be easy, I get it at Level 15. Sooooo grinding time!
While grinding, I started clearing out trainers on the surfing routes, and grabbing Pokemon. Oh, but first... Penthes learned Razor Leaf! And you know what that means...
Leaf Stone!!! Finally, my lovely pitcher plant is all overgrown up! (Get it? Overgrown, like, plants do? Do you get it? Do you see the humor in my joke?)
Okay so. Route 20, I fished! Horsea appears! Aaaand I killed it accidentally, cause Sing and Surf start with the same letter. Been a while since that's happened, huh? Feels like old times.
Seafoam Islands! I didn't actually go through here yet, although I plan on doing so - my intent is to battle all of the legendaries I can, treating them as additional boss fights. Still though, I stepped inside to catch a dude! After 5 consecutive Staryus, I finally found a Seel. Staryu isn't even that common I thought? Ah well. Seel's name is Harp.
Route 21, where I could catch a Tangela if I really wanted but look I have Penthes, I need no more grassy boys! After fishing up yet another Staryu, I caught a Shellder! Its name is Okeefe.
Since I still have grinding to do, I stepped into the Pokemon Mansion, hoping not to be completely owned, and... It's okay actually! I caught a Grimer, named it Ooze. I fought my way through, and Nessie actually started doing most of the work way earlier than I'd thought. Surf owns bones. Ice Beam is pretty solid too. I finished the mansion, grabbing the Secret Key, and... set out for the unfinished business in Saffron.
First, Giovanni. Nessie, Cingu, Penthes and Moschops join me for this fight, and, quite frankly... he's a little bitch and I could have made short work of him before doing the Pokemansion.
Next is Sabrina. She and her gym trainers are a touch tougher, but I manage fine with Lanius, Cingu, Nessie and Penthes.
Also now Nessie is finally at around the same level as the rest of my team! Hooray!
Now, here I am. Plotting and planning. Blaine shouldn't be too hard at all. Giovanni is just as much of a puss as always. I have three more dungeons to tackle - the Power Plant, Seafoam Islands, and Victory Road. The resting places of the three Legendary Birds. But most importantly...
The Elite 4.
Now, I'm planning here still. I know what I want to do, but I'm interested in getting any feedback there could be. Especially since the ask box which I didn't realize was closed this whole time, is now open! (That's "Option" on the menu!)
The first point: An Electric type would be super effective against almost all of Lorelei's Pokemon, against both Lance and Dingus' Gyarados, and against Agatha's Golbat and Lance's Aerodactyl. That's really really good. The Power Plant has electric types. In fact, it has options: Voltorb and Electrode would be duplicates, but that still leaves random encounter chances for Magnemite/Magneton, and Pikachu. Now, obviously one of those is way way better to have than the other. But is that a chance I'm willing to take, when the other option is repelling my way through until Zapdos, and hoping to high heck I capture it (or chucking my Master Ball at it, maybe?) Zapdos does have legendary tier stats, but it also is part flying type, which removes its ground weakness... but makes it weak to Ice, meaning its usefulness against Lorelei will be limited to its ability to OUTSPEED Lorelei. Zapdos is fast, but is it fast enough to body an elite four member without getting hit?
The second point: I really really need Psychic STAB. I love my big mothy boy, but he's just not cutting it. Now, stop me if you've heard this one: Cinnabar Island's coast acts very strangely. Since it doesn't expect to have an encounter rate but it can be GIVEN an encounter rate, basically any Pokemon can show up there as long as it can show up somewhere else. The question is one of gambling. You see, I could play it safe and get a Drowzee by going to Route 11 where I've already caught Sandshrew and Spearow and flying to Cinnabar... or take a bit more of a risk with a higher payout stats-wise by using Route 24 and trying to catch an Abra? Not only is there the slimmest margin of possibility for it to flee an Ultra Ball, it might also not show up, since that route also has Caterpies and Metapods that I don't yet have. I suppose doing the more traditional Safari Zone glitch is also possible, to try for an Exeggcute, but A: that'd supplant (ha!) my boy Penthes, and B: even less of a guarantee, and jeezy kableezy do I NOT want a dang Nidoran as my booby prize. So, what should I do? Play it safe or get dangerous?
The third point: If I'm adding these guys to my team, then it's going to exceed 6, and someone's gonna get boxed. Nessie is INTEGRAL to the Elite 4 gameplan, and also just kinda rules overall. Lanius is my flyer... but if I get a Zapdos, that replacement feels like a no-brainer. Sciari is right out as soon as I've got an actual real Psychic type, so really it's just a matter of who's losing out to my Electric type. Cingu's Slash will be incredibly helpful, and Dig should double down on effectiveness for the Onixes, Agatha's poison types, Rhydon and Arcanine. Moschops will make Lorelei that much easier. That really seems to leave it to Lanius, who feels more expendable but will probably be most useful in the Elite 4 fight (especially vs. Venusaur) and is also my flyer... and Penthes, who I've become so emotionally attached to as the first Victreebel I've used and a fantastic assripper who came from such a humble start (especially losing Vine Whip, lmao), who has, in lieu of my lost Minos, become practically like my starter. Can I really afford to leave one of them behind? Should I nix someone else instead?
Please, leave your thoughts.
