#and level of investment in these things - what on AVERAGE are you most inclined to do
Text
Just curious what the average level of personal investment in these sorts of things is. Like, how much do people usually get into silly stuff like this their friends ask of them? etc. etc. Which I know, only surveying a small sample on a very specific website means I'm not getting an exact average idea lol, but.. curious nonetheless .. Maybe reblog for bigger sample size but also this is not very serious at all/not worth a call to action gbhjbhjb
#which I know this could be context dependent like.. maybe you'd normally dress up but on a week that#you feel sick you wouldn't or etc. etc. - but I mean.. GENERALLY. in the most general average scenario#where you have the average amount of health and free time that you always do. etc. just based on your personality#and level of investment in these things - what on AVERAGE are you most inclined to do#also of course assume they communicate with you ahead of time and are not like planning a part last minute#like 'throw together costume in 5 hours and show up tonight randomly' or etc. I would hope that if we're going with the#AVERAGE of things - most people's friends have better communication skills than springing entire parties#on people last minute lol#assume you have like.. a few days-a week or so to prepare. however ealrly people usually start talking about#birthdays. In my experience it's usually one or two weeks ahead of time. Like 'oh next weekend' or 'oh two weeks from now' etc.#ANYWAY.. feeling a little Sick again of course but still trying to get some photos or something posted#AGAIN i promise I am not going to exlcusively post polls and ntohing else forever hgkjgnekj#I just really really love the ability to post polls and have always my whole life been obsessed with surveying people#I used to think I wanted to do that as a career somehow like.. be one of the people that does psychological interviews#or produce interview asessments for a company or etc. etc. I am always the one friend in the group thats giving out custom made#surveys or asking for other simialr stuff (did you ever take an mbti quiz? how about enneagra#m?? oh yeah I know they're not really scientifically valid or antyhing but like... DID you take them?? huh?? did you??please?? ghjj)#I simply cannot resist.. posting a little poll every once in a while.. as a treat#whilst I still fall behind on like actual content and costumes and stuff gbjhbjh#New poll adventure should be not as much of a wait as the last one was though since I already have the writing#for it really. I just have to do the ms paint sketch. hopefully no unexpected other health issues will get in the way#*** *** ***#< (anytime I do these three star patterns it is an ocd compulsion not me bleeping out words or something just ignore it lol)#(it means something secret in my evil brain just pretend you do not see it. significant only to me)#BUT YEAH.. ... poll... what type of costume party atendee are you?#:0c

I’m dying out here, the gradual enshittification of all products is killing me. Could you please share your knowledge of brands that actually make good, durable clothing items? Tsym!!!
The Big One v3.0:More Boots!
>Blundstone
>Thursday Boot Co
This version is focused mainly on work/masc clothing . If anyone has recommendations for more decorative/femme clothing, please share them with me so I can update the post :)
Make sure to check the version number if you see this in the wild, it may have updated!
Recommendations marked with an asterisk (*) means I have no personal experience with them, but I've heard enough good things that I added them to the list.
1. Shirts/Tops
First of all, I'm a huge whore for 100% cotton, but in theory polyester will last longer. On the other hand, polyester will last forever, seeping into fish and local blood streams for millenia to come. Second of all, if you want cool graphics then I'd highly recommend doing it yourself. I'd say the easiest options for getting reliable, long lasting graphic tees are screen printing, tie dye and vinyl decals, but this depends on what resources you have access to. Keep in mind this is for shirts that you'll (hopefully) be able to wear for over a decade since really any decent cotton tee will last a decent amount of time.
Recommendations
-ASCOLOR
These are the best blank t shirts I've found, period. Stitching is great, the fabric is thick, and from what I can tell they're slightly more inclined to ethical production than your average mass produced T-shirts. They also sell nice jackets and coats as well!
I might try out a couple of pairs of pants from them to see what's up.
Band Tees
For some reason these tend to be really solid, depending on how big the artist in question is. Usually printed on Gildan, which ain't bad. They are expensive though, which means they may not be as great of a deal
This would be the section where I talked about stuff that isn't just t shirts but idk any brands that make consistently durable examples for a good price.
2. Pants
I would recommend a maximum of 1-2% elastane if you're getting skinny jeans, otherwise it's 100% cotton denim baby. Durability decrease exponentially the higher percentage of non-denim there is.
Also, I highly recommend selvage jeans if you can afford them. They use a tighter knit and are made to be worn in.
For cargo pants, get something that's thick and has ripstip material.
Recommendations
-Levi's
The lowest in price I would go tbh. I recommend the 502s since they're 100% cotton but 511s have been a staple of the street fashion world for a while. They're skinnier jeans ain't bad either, but I feel like they're starting to hit the edge of being too thin.
-The Unbranded Brand
Focused solely on getting the price of selvage jeans down to affordable levels. Fair warning, I bought a pair of black jeans (with 1% elastane) and the formaldehyde smell still hasn't gone away. I have an indigo pair that smell fine though, and besides that they're my favorite pairs of jeans.
5.11
Now most """Tactical Apparel""" stores tend to be a bit...off, but since this is a post about durable clothing, I gotta mention the probably undiagnosed autistic guys with a special interest in manly man pants. I have a pair of 5.11 Canvas Cargo Pants and I've taken these things camping, through outdoor airsoft fields, and underground deathcore moshpits. The bastards still looked mint when I finally handed them off to my partner because my ass got too juicy to wear them and gave me a blister when I spent all morning working for a landscaper. (That job was the final straw in my anti-lawn radicalization arc btw.)
To reiterate, I would look for anything that's ripstip and not paper thin. Nylon also works but the texture sucks.
Duluth Trading Co.*
Carhartt if they didn't sell out, from what I've heard
Insert Mid Level Selvage Jean brand that's about $150-$250 a pair*
3. Shoes
Always invest in whatever goes between you and the ground. This goes for mattresses and chairs as well. And for fucks sake get something that can be resoled, and find a cobbler near you. Also look up the Sam Vines Boot Theory of Economics.
Recommendations
Vans
Unlike converse, I've only ever bought one pair. The problem with Vans is the lack of impact absorption, something that can be fixed with aftermarket inserts in theory. Old-Skools take insoles fairly well. Their ComfyCush line is aimed at fixing this problem but I haven't tried any of them. I did get a pair of Ultraranges recently and they seem decently durable, but I've yet to really start wearing into them.
Any skate shoes in general*
Theyre made to be dragged across concrete at relatively high speeds. Try to go for suede.
Solovair*
Now, I have beef with Doc Martens since they sold out, but they're still cheap, comfortable, and made out of leather, which is all you need. Anything lower and I would argue that it's too cheap. However, they can't be resoled, they're leather is kind of thin, and they definitely have a fast fashion mindset.
Solovair is a company that uses the original factories in England to make their own line of lookalikes, for a slightly higher price and slightly higher quality. I've heard their customer service is shit.
Redwing*
I have heard nothing but praise for these. I'm going to buy a pair of Supersole 2.0s once my current pair (which didn't make the list since they kinda went downhill) finally bite it.
Danner*
Another popular recommendation for leather boots.
There is a queer owned boot brand that has canvas and leather boots that are relatively cheap and have cool art but I forgot the name
3. Socks
Blundstones*
Chelsea boots but austrialian
Basically either get Darn Tough* or Point6 some decent socks from whatever brand works for you. I highly recommend merino wool hiking socks, and I just wear cotton socks during the summer.
4. Underwear
You do wear underwear, right?
Recommendations
TomboyX
Queer-owned business catered towards gnc people. Their stuff is dope, high quality, and made in the US with livable wages for their employees. Highly recommend.
5. Specialty
From cold weather gear to military surplus, this section covers everything else.
Recommendations
Patagonia*
I'm still amazed they're this popular and have this much of a focus on sustainability and longevity. Their sibling, North Face, definitely fell into the consumerism pit years ago but Patagonia has still been chugging along.
Military Surplus
I feel a bit guilty for gatekeeping the specific companies I like, but if you go to the right places (eBay) you can get durable clothing for SUPER cheap. It's usually not the highest quality, but it's better than the same thing from an outlet mall.
Chrome
Mainly a bicycling brand, their bags are the kind of things that last a stupidly long time. The internals of them aren't amazing, mainly just an empty main cavity with a laptop sleeve and a smaller separate pocket, but all of their stuff is rock solid. They also have a solid warranty as well.
Swiss Army
Yes, the knife guys. They haven't changed their looks since the late 90s but their backpacks are designed amazingly well. They also have a limited lifetime warranty. I've noticed some cosmetic wear on mine after a few months of using it pretty roughly, thankfully it's just skin-deep stuff but it's also different to older examples I've seen. Definitely more suited towards carrying books and folders.

The Pros and Cons of Bathroom Remodeling for Resale Homes
Tumblr media
Each time it is necessary to make a choice about whether the bathroom(s) require to be revamped. Making the decision to renovate the bathroom on the investment home is one of the biggest that you can make since it will be a lead in one of the largest expenses in both time as well as money. What the final financial outcome is the one that should worry you. Does the remodel generate an income on its on its own or make a contribution to the total profit.
The Pros of Remodeling the Bathroom of an Investment House:
Bring it to life with the WOW factor! WOW factor is most likely the primary reason to remodel the bathroom. It are three rooms that need to impress; and the bathroom is most likely number one. Mr. and Ms. Buyers will usually make their decisions basing their decision on the condition that the restroom is in.
The decision to redesign all of it or change a few components should be determined largely by the significance of your bathroom in the buying decision. When done correctly, bathroom remodeling might be a key element in determining the value and not having to sell your home.
A dingy, unmaintained bathroom that is poorly maintained will make potential buyers dropping their price expectations in relation to what it's going to take to make the renovation. Anyone buying a newly new house is hoping that certain aspects are in good condition, this is why they're purchasing the house which has already had a renovation.
It's an overhaul or complete overhaul, this one room can determine the fate of the whole deal.
If you're operating on an extremely limited budget, you can choose the specific parts of your bathroom wish to have renovated for example, the tub, the sink, or even the toilet.
If cost is not an issue you may choose to renovate your entire bathroom. Apart from deciding on the aspects of your bathroom want to remodel in the future, you will also be in control over the items as well as the material used.
If, for instance, you're looking to upgrade your toilet You can pick the one that best fits your budget. The most important thing is the fact that it's brand fresh. Being aware that the bathroom is fresh and has not ever been ever used is an important factor for many. Some may be thinking "I will replace that toilet someday" however, it's sufficient to give an excellent overall perception.
Remodeling your bathroom can be fairly simple to accomplish based the level you wish to take it. This is something a handyman of average skill can complete by them in order to reduce costs.
While it is true that you can make money by making your own renovations however, you may not be inclined to do it or may not be able to undertake the project. If this is your situation however, there's still an option. The best option is seeking help with an experienced contractor.
Although it is more expensive the bathroom will get a professional remodel and usually in lesser time.
It is not a bad idea to note that bathroom renovations can aid in increasing the value of a house. This is one of the biggest benefits of having a bathroom renovated. The growth in value the property, if you think there is any, will depend on a number of aspects. These include the type of renovation is performed in addition to the quality of work that is completed. It is up to you whether or not you hire experts to assist you with your experienced bathroom remodeling professional or have previous renovation knowledge, the choice to renovate your bathroom can substantially increase the value the home you live in.
Even though there are many number of advantages in bathroom renovations but there are still some number of negatives. The main cons are the expense involved in doing this. In the process of making a decision on whether you'd like to renovate your bathroom then you will be required to come to your own decision. However while making your decision, you may be able to keep these previously mentioned factors in your mind.

is it at all possible for us to know the results of the market research or is that presumably under lock and wb key? just because I would be fascinated to know if the network derailed destiel/bi dean after failed market research in that area or if even dabb and co presenting them with positive market research couldnt sway them
Okay so this is multifaceted. First, the very fact that they had to pitch it through market testing at all means someone on a creative level PITCHED that, and pitched it hard, because that takes meaningful investment much less time. But it also means it was PITCHED because there was some sort of RESISTANCE above that creative level's heads. Such as, for example, maybe the S9 Chad Kennedy blowout and resulting tire fire trying to burn down what had suddenly become their most successful product put a black mark on the product (thus explaining the S10 temporary press packets.)
So with that reminder out of the way, even market research tumblr, like beyond SPN fandom, will tell you market research is inherently flawed. There's a variety of reasons for this, like these analysts having very poor understanding on how to ask about emotional and resonant story ends and how to inquire--or cultural issues, like people marking romance low on their interest lists because of "stupid girly things" even though the average viewer does have at least SOME inclination towards romances within a show even if it's not their primary interest.
The reasons for these go on, and I've probably talked about it in my #marketing tag at some point or some other affiliated tag, and I know I've joined conversations with marketing tumblr in general about this. Basically, the questions are bad, the answering is socially rigged, and even if you get a response above average on a topic, that same fallibility is used for execs to frequently handwave things away that they don't like based on their own personal biases, and it's all about who's bias they're trying to affirm at that point. Unless there was like a somehow 100% adamant positive result, almost anything could be handwaved down. Because at the end of the day, while execs are notoriously bad at entertainment and actually understanding their audiences, they're also notoriously egotistic about their points of view about it.
Like that's not even just the CW, that's just media in general. CW is just infamous for dumbfuck decisions even among an entire media landscape of dumbfuck decisions. Like all the other dumbfucks look at CW and go "well at least we're not that guy".
I doubt we'll ever get complete numbers. But even if we did, it wouldn't mean anything. Frankly it'd probably inspire a lot of rage about it, because people would see a strong positive result and then realize that still got flushed down the toilet because of some old white jackass' opinion dismissing everybody else. They'll blame the california area as being too liberal or whatever else and decide that if it wasn't absolute response then it's not worth it, because maintaining the status quo is easier.

How do you think JK and JM have grown and changed this year? I was worried about the more professional Jikook recently, but the way they are now seems healthier- like there is balance and more peace in their bond. They are compromising and addressing each other’s needs (JM demonstrating his love for JK and flirting less; JK holding back for the sake of the group and JM's sanity). They seem happy. Plus, it’s nice to see the group members helping them be professional- especially Tae.
Absolutely! They are making compromises...
I was meant to work on a 'Jikook in 2020 Review' blog post at the end of the year but I got my nails done and I couldn't type shit with it. Lol. Should have stuck with my usual average length basic bitch nails but no, I had to go and be a baddie- edgy people. Sigh.
It's something I do in my Journal at the end of every year since 2014 where I summarize everything that's gone down with Jikook and my other ships in that year to help me keep track of their love journey and especially the timelines- yea, I take my delulu business seriously. I'm not ashamed. Lol.
I think the most outstanding and conspicuous growth development in Jikook's dynamics, to me, is their individual functioning and positive adaptive response to the changes that happened in and around their relationship in 2020- from Covid 19 to the monitored VLives and the whole professional outlook, cough cough.
While not surprising to me, because they had been on that trajectory since the later half of 2019 and had exhibited early signs of being capable of adjusting well, almost adjusting well lol, to any internal changes that could occur in their relationship dynamics, I sort of worried about them being thrown in at the deep end in the face of the abrupt and disruptive changes 2020 presented because of Covid 19.
Jikook since 2015 to me, have always exhibited codependent tendencies as well as a certain level of dysfunctionality in their dynamics with one or both of them enabling certain toxicities in the other.
I think that is the major thing that changed in 2020 in my opinion and I don't know if their personal growth journey contributed to it or the virus did, or that it's just we didn't get to see them interact in the usual settings that brings out all the lunacy in them. Lol.
Jimin for example had a habit of enabling JK's possessiveness and childish grunts and would reassure him whenever JK threw tantrums over anyone smiling funny at him. I mean reassuring your partner of your love and interest in him is good and ideal but not when your partner lowkey is unreasonable in his demands sometimes, chilee JK- what goes on. Lol.
Especially not when that same partner has no qualms doing shit like this:
Tumblr media
But with JM I feel it goes deeper than that. I think I have mentioned in passing a few times now how I feel/felt JM was the noncommittal one in their dynamic and part of the reason I had that view was because Jimin to me had always conveyed an impression of JK that he is/was a bit childish and immature and that I think had always hindered him from fully investing in their dynamic in a way that makes JK secure.
But that too has changed especially towards the end of 2020.
I mean JM is very wise beyond his age, mature beyond his age as everyone around him keep saying. Contrastingly, they say the very opposite of Kook and they treat him as such, which is gotta be worrying for JM, I feel.
I've always been fascinated by JM's choice of words and descriptors for people- well not just JM's, all the members' quite frankly. Lol. He sees, for instance, Tae as innocent and naive, Joonie as thoughtful and JK as not good at expressing himself and his emotions.
These words are not just his assessment of their personalities, they are also testament to how he treats them or is likely to treat them- We treat people the way we see and perceive them.
If he sees JK as incapable of expressing his true intentions, he stands the risk of projecting his own intentions onto him and this is very dangerous. He could be reading more into situations, misunderstanding and misconstruing JK's intentions.
For example, he may he interpreting JK feeling uncomfortable with him being around others as a sign JK wants him for himself and as such use that to reassure himself whenever he is feeling vulnerable and insecure in their dynamic but in reality JK could just be expressing discomfort with watching two men interact intimately- JM would never know unless JK explicitly conveyed to him that seeing him with others worry him because he wants Jimin too. Know what I mean?
Similarly, if he perceives JK as immature and childish, no matter how accurate that may be, he risks developing an inclination to be dismissive of JK's needs- especially if JK really sucks at articulating his needs or asserting himself in their dynamics.
Seeing JM interact with others in a certain way may genuinely be his limits, but how is he gonna communicate that to Jimin beyound grunts and pouts if he sucks at expressing himself and if JM dismisses these grunts and tantrums he throws as childishness?
That's what I mean when I say there is a certain degree of dysfunctionality to Jikook's dynamics. But that too have changed or is changing- can't be sure till I see how they progress and interact in the future.
As I kept saying, Jikook had been asserting themselves against eachother in 2020 and JK was the embodiment of that.
But JK...
He has always given me the impression he's willing to do whatever it takes to prove himself as not only worthy of JM's love but also solidify himself as JM's equal in their dynamics, having been subjected to years of baby syndrome being the youngest within the group and having everyone treat him as such.
And so I have mixed feelings about this seemly 'progress' in him...
Not sure if he is doing it for himself or for his relationship and God I hope it is for himself because as much as I enjoy the crazy aspect of their relationship, I hate it too.
I mean it's entertaining to watch sometimes but Jimlous and Jeonlous do make me sick in my stomachs- yea, I have four at this point. Fucking Christmas chicken. Lol.
Not to say JM isn't as invested in or committed to JK as JK is to him. Just saying there's always been something holding him back in their dynamics for whatever reason, in my opinion, and Jk it seems have always had the impression he can 'win' if he tries. So he is constantly pushing the boundaries and testing the limits- and that I feel is his yoke.
I used to look at him and felt sorry for him because he was young and he was being pushed to grow so fast but I also understand Jimin because he is much older than his boyfriend and he wouldn't want to be unequally yoked to him, as the saying goes- especially if he equally has to relinquish control to him and have him lead him as his lover and partner.
I feel a lot of Jokers get confused about who is dom and all that jazz, partly because JM is not ceding to JK the way JK relinquishes control to JM in their dynamics and is holding back a lot- that's what I mean when I say he is not fully into their relationship.
Jimin holds a lot of power in their dynamics and a lot of people see that and describe him as top, dom, power bottom and whole other sobriquets but I don't think any of those descriptors is apt.
Because as much as he holds a lot of power in their dynamics, he is in the same breath powerless and at the mercy of JK as JK is to him. The one with the power to me is the one that can walk away and It's neither JK nor Jimin.
As assertive as JK has been all year, he will cave if it meant JM was to walk away. And as demanding as JM has been of JK's maturity, he will settle if it meant JK was to walk away.
Jimin to me is a paradox. He pushes JK to be 'mature' and be on the same page as him yet he equally enables the bad behavior in JK too- well he used to. He's changed since late 2019 and hasn't been tolerant of JK's possessive behavior- which I think I've talked about a lot on here.
It certainly doesn't help that JM has this view of 'JK is just bad at expressing his emotions.' With that kind of mentality, he is more likely to let JK get away with a lot of things without pushing him to be better and that in itself is a form of enabling.
As the youngest within the group, he already stand the risk of being enabled within the group dynamics as his bad behavior is always going to be excused and dismissed as stemming from his age.
You often hear RM and the members talk about how he is the youngest, he is going through a teenage rebellious phase, let's give him a pass because he is the youngest, he doesn't speak much so we value the least he says, he doesn't return his texts, doesn't wish anyone a happy birthday on their birthday's but we will for him anyway, chilee. There is too much enabling going on in there.
As harmless as these rhetorics may be, they impact his attraction quotient and may make him less appealing to anyone within the group who may find him attractive in a sexual way psychologically speaking and sometimes I see that impacting Jimin. People want to date up not down.
Take when Hobi talked about JK peeping tom for example, Jimin didn't seem at all happy about it. I don't think he was jealous in that moment necessarily, more like he was disappointed and hurt.
JK has been doomed from the start as the baby of the group- I mean I've seen the men JM finds attractive... I don't think a 'baby' is what he wants.
Tumblr media
Jk have always been on a mission to shed these descriptors off of him and assert himself within the group, for himself and for his relationship- as he should.
But 2020 has been the height of his self assertive journey and progress in my opinion. In Break the silence, the members talked about how JK has become more self aware particularly this year, and JK himself has spoken about and acknowledged his immaturity in the past and how he is working to improve himself on that.
He has grown a lot this year.
You may not see the impact of this because it's an intangible change but you look at how he interacts with the others, the boundaries he's putting in place etc
JM post October have been treating JK with a certain level of respect and dignity, almost as if he is seeing JK as a new man- his equal. This will make sense in the future, don't worry.
During the Christmas holiday performance, it seemed the directors had whispered something in JM's ear to give them a moment- listen, BigHit ain't slick ok? Whenever you see them isolate Jikook from the group bet your sweet behind they are looking for a moment from Jikook and are going over BTS's head, chilee. They ain't slick.
They did the same thing in the dynamite MV when they put Jikook away from the group and had them turn it on- I mean RM wasn't too happy about it it seemed and when he asked Jimin about it, Jimin said the director had asked him to.
I bet you two fake dollars, they intentionally put Jikook away from the group in that performance and honestly I don't think they gave JK a heads up about it either. You could see Jimin literally scanning JK's body to prepare himself and put himself in the mood which had JK looking at him all confused like what is this man doing. Lmho.
Then he playfully taps JK's chest like it's the firt time he is paired with his man and JK looks at him like uhmmmm. Jimin then goes to wrap his hands around JK's shoulder and JK exec crashed. lol.
I don't think JK expected that from Jimin and his gay panic was real- personally, I think he popped a boner down there and when Jimin tilted the camera angle down to that region dude made a 360 turning his back to the camera. Lol.
He was literally hiding it behind Jin and when you look at NamJin's cam that's when you see what I mean.
Chilee, JK how are you gone hide a boner a man gave you behind another mind- make it make sense. Lmho. Are they both not men? You are 24, if Jimin still has this effect on you I'm sorry there's no hope for you. The gay is deep my guy, bid your family farewell and move to Itaewon. Lol.
All jokes and delulu aside, there was a certain level of respect even in the way that Jimin carried out their fanservice in that moment.
Maybe we are finally going to see Park Jimin relinquish that power he's been holding back from Kook as the hyung and mature one and allow JK lead him, make decisions for him and trust that he would make the right ones.
I don't think, going forward JM would be 'dismissing' JK's discomfort with him doing certain things as JK being 'childish' anymore, lol. I'm talking about the 'babe it's nothing' laughing his butt off when JK is pissed at him for doing certain things etc.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It's also interesting to note that 2020, in my opinion, recorded the most 'breakup songs' shared and recommended by JK on his spotify playlist- I wonder why. Smirk.
By break up songs i mean most if not all the songs he shared last year had a theme of separation, breakup, etc, with one particular song standing out to me: Mean it by Lauv.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This song and the others are pretty much consistent with his own song lyrics of 2020, Still with you and Stay which I believe are a two voiced piece of the same art work or subject matter, a response poem if you will: one being a confession of JK's feelings and intentions while the other, Stay, is the reconciliation, a request and plea to his love interest and declaration of his needs or what he wants from Jimin.
Stay answers Still with you. In my opinion.
And on the subject of Still with you, am I the only one who thinks 'With You' is one of Jimin's handles and JK using that in a song is no coincidence?
I mean Tae literally gave Jimin that name in Run 106- Listen, I don't trust JK and if he appropriates it again ISTG!
He's come a long way from, 'I'm not gonna say any cliche as that have courage' in Magic Shop to practically groveling. Lol. Love will do that to you.
What stands out about Mean it, is that whole 'don't play with my feelings if you don't want me' theme. I think this is something I kept saying was a vibe I was getting from JK throughout 2020 when I said I talked about their breakup and said I felt he was since that incident putting his foot down, demanding his needs and putting his happiness right back up there with Jimin's.
I smiled when I heard him talk about him thinking a lot about what happiness means to him throughout 2020 and pursuing that.
As for the professionalism, let's see if they are going to maintain it throughout this year because it is not coming from them but from the environment they are in.
I think what they have to do is know when they are going to be themselves and when they have to be professional- Jikook y'all are queer, reading the room should be an acquired skill dumbass! Someone send them the memo. Lmho.
One other thing that has changed about Jikook would be how they are gradually disconnecting from their fanbase especially JK.
Now this may be due to a lot of reasons: BigHit limiting their access to their fanbase, BTS having a problem with Jikook's brand clashing with theirs and demanding they 'act professionally,' Jikook no longer having a need of the support of their fanbase and a plethora of reasons I cannot get into sake of time and space.
One thing that I am gauging this year is how Jikook will be interacting with their fanbase and how much of their relationship they will willingly share with us.
They need our support as much as we need them and if our support matters to them in advancing their relationship out of the closet then they will find a way to reconnect with us- always.
I mean, he said stay- I'm staying. Lol.
I guess what I'm saying is, for now, the change in Jikook is intangible and individualized but serves as a foundation to whatever direction they decide to move in next.
I am curious to know how these individuals growth and development is going to play out in their dynamics as a unit.
I want to see what they do on May 13th this year, who posts the first Jikook selca of 2021. JK didn't post for the members's birthday again and so I'm curious to see how JM's birthday is gonna go.
The members had surprise parties except Jimin- I'm still salty about that, they filmed Vlives on their birthdays- again except Jimin who had to belate that shit.
I'm taking notes of how they are gonna use the VApp this year especially JK. He still wasn't allowed to solo VLive on the app- I'm taking notes. Lol. Bone collector LLC. Lmho.
2020 was that year, the year Jikook went to couples counseling figuratively- in my books me. Lol.
They went from spending time apart, pursuing other hobbies, JK took to reading, Jimin took to spending quality time with friends and family and realized what is gold to him.
They each have come to terms with their shortcomings- something some of us recieved a lot of backlash over for talking openly about. Chilee.
Jimin have acknowledged he over expresses himself and needs to "love less' and JK have acknowledged his immaturity and is taking steps to work on it.
They both have taken a step from social media, which honestly I don't think is a bad thing especially if SM impacts their overall well being negatively.
I actually won't be surprised if they've been seeing a psychologist but anywho-
I hope this answers your question? Lol. I don't know. This post is more for me than y'all, I feel. So sorry about that.
Happy New Year to 'Y'all who love me.' I love y'all too so much. Bless y'all.
Let's keep supporting Jikook. Jikook is real.

Obey Me Card Strategy Guide, (2/4)
The Long Version, part 2 - Grimm Efficiency
(Part 1 | Part 3 | Part 4) Now that we’ve established the importance of making use of the type boosts for each level, let’s take a look at another important aspect of game play - cost effectiveness.
Personally, I think this is the one that trips people up the most and causes the most stress, especially for f2p players who are trying to make every single Grimm count. Grimm is pretty hard to come by since it takes 8 hours to earn just 20,000 Grimm (G), so for the sake of your own sanity, you need to make sure you get the most bang for your buck.
Tumblr media
For this example, I’m going to look at 3 different UR Envy cards.
Levi, at level 60 with 5 stars, plus an unlocked Devil’s Flower.
Lucifer, at level 60 with 4 stars.
Satan, at level 1 with 0 stars.
The question we are going to answer is this -
Should I level up my Levi card to level 90? Or would it be better to level up my Satan card to level 50?
And to do that, we are going to use math! 🤓
Disclaimer - all values will be rounded up for the sake of easy to read math. Since I’m including screenshots of the actual values, you can check the math for yourself if you are so inclined.
Tumblr media
Let’s start by taking a closer look at Satan.
At level 1, Satan has a total of 11,000 strength (S).
If I raise him to level 50, he will then have 34,000S and it will cost 172,000 Grimm (G).
By subtracting the S at level 1 from the S at level 50, we will learn how much S Satan gained when leveling up.
34,000S - 11,000S = 23,000S
And since we know it took 172,000G to increase Satan’s S by 23,000S we can then determine the amount of G it cost to raise S by 1 point.
172,000G / 23,000S = 7.5 G/S
This value is an extremely important one, and the key to understanding why it’s better to level up your cards evenly rather than beefing up a single card at a time.
What this number means is that in order to raise Satan’s S by 1, you need to spend 7.5G on average for the first 50 levels.
Now let’s compare that to Levi.
Tumblr media
Levi currently has 45,000S at level 60.
If I were to raise his level to 90, he would then have 58,000S and it would cost me 482,000G.
58,000S - 45,000S = 13,000S
When going from level 60 to level 90, Levi gains 13,000S. So if we divide the total cost of G by S gained, we will once again learn the G/S value.
482,000G / 13,000S = 37 G/S
Meaning it’ll cost you 37G for every 1 point of S that Levi gains from level 60 to 90, on average.
That’s a huge difference compared to the mere 7.5 G/S that Satan requires!
Which brings us back to our original question -
Should I level up my Levi card to level 90? Or would it be better to level up my Satan card to level 50?
The answer for this example of course is that raising Satan to level 50 is the best way to spend your G. Not only will you spend less G, but your overall S will be higher than simply raising Levi’s level to 90.
If raising Satan to 50 -
34,000S + 45,000S + 43,000S = 122,000S (Satan + Levi + Lucifer)
If raising Levi to 90 -
11,000S + 58,000S + 43,000S = 112,000S (Satan + Levi + Lucifer)
Another way to look at it is to compare how much S you can get with a set amount of G.
Tumblr media
Let’s say you only have 100,000G to spend. And you’re trying to decide if you should make Levi stronger, or begin powering up a third card (Satan).
As stated before, Levi has 45,000S at level 60. With 100,000G I can raise his level to 68, which increases his S to 48,000S.
48,000S - 45,000S = 3,000S
So for 100,000G I gain just 3,000S.
100,000G / 3,000S = 33 G/S
Which translates to 33 G/S.
Tumblr media
As for Satan, he starts out with 11,000S. By spending 100,000G on him, we are able to raise his card to level 40. Which in turn raises his S to 29,000S.
29,000S - 11,000S = 18,000S
This means that for 100,000G, Satan gains 18,000S.
100,000G / 18,000S = 5.5 G/S
At only 5.5 G/S for Satan, compared to 33 G/S for Levi, it’s clear to see that leveling up Satan is a better investment than adding additional levels to Levi.
So to recap -
SSR cards are viable in battles, even at higher (normal) levels
Power up your Demon & Memory cards evenly (levels and stars)
Type Advantage is extremely important, don’t ignore it
Aim for a team of 2-3 Demon cards and 2-3 Memory cards per type
If you are just starting out, and don’t have many cards powered up already, then you can stop reading here as we’ve covered all the important things for figuring out how to spend your Grimm wisely.
But if you have some cards that are already maxed out, then things become a wee bit more complicated going forward, as more factors come into play. Parts 3 and 4 of this guide will explore those situations in more depth.  CONTINUED IN PART 3

What do you think of Dan Ticktum? While he did some shit in the past, I’d be inclined to forgive what he did as a literal child and to me he does seem like he’s actually changed a bunch and grown just judging by what we saw in F2 in the last year. A lot of what people get angry about seems like confirmation bias to me (it’s Dicktum so let’s interpret what he says in the worst way possible). Since you’re always reasonable I’m just really interested in what you think abou the ‘Ticktum situation’
I have like 5 asks similar to this so lets answer one.
One of the things about Ticktum is that his youthful error was not, y’know, doing something a bit daft. It wasn’t making a mistake that happened to carry a heavy punishment, he - behind the safety car - overtook ten other cars in order to deliberately use his car as a weapon against another driver. That’s not a normal young driver error, it’s a really shocking incident and so when people give it some weight, that’s why.
Does it mean he can’t learn? Absolutely not. If he’d been an adult at the time it would have been a lifetime ban from competition but the agreement was two years of license suspension, of which he served one before returning as a Red Bull funded athlete.
I think there is a reasonable argument for saying that was the right thing - Red Bull’s funding is their own prerogative but to completely stall a young driver’s career also isn’t especially fair. Although, as I said, if he had been an adult he would have never been issued a race license again so I do also see why other people have reservations about him returning to racing, especially at a high level and in powerful machinery.
So what I’m saying is: it’s ok that he is racing but the sheer severity of the incident is why it still gets brought up, it was a very shocking one and not something to be written off as just making an immature mistake. Does that mean it should be held over Dan forever? No - but the reason people don’t forget it is because it was extreme.
Dan’s done some great racing since he returned - he was very strong in his rookie year of Euro F3, he has two Macau wins which is non-trivial. On his day, he can put together a very strong performance.
Unfortunately, when it’s not his day he seems to struggle to contain his emotions about things - from radio rants to repeatedly accusing his own teams of disadvantaging him to his teammate. He ran his mouth off a lot about Mick Schumacher in F3 and continued in F3 Asia, when results didn’t come. To some extent, Red Bull don’t care about that but when he did it in Super Formula that was the last straw - the results they might have waited on but Mugen is Honda’s team and SF is their home series and you have to be political, as everything in motorsport.
When he’s not having a go on social media or the radio, Ticktum is actually very reasonable and funny. He’s a bit naive and definitely not on the scale of socially aware that the average Tumblr user is but that’s kind of most of them - the focus on racing doesn’t leave a lot of space for personal or educational growth.
He had a tricky year in F2 - the current chassis is plagued with mechanical issues and very few teams are getting it to work properly, to the point you can barely judge talent in the series at the moment, unfortunately. About half the grid aren’t of the standard to be there and about half the rest of them are in cars with mysterious malfunctions and spare parts crises. Ticktum lost a win due to a fuel leak and Carlin aren’t a bad team, absolutely know what they’re doing, the chassis is just not working out for the short-staffed (and particularly this year) F2 teams.
(I don’t say that to take away from the drivers who’ve put in exceptional results this year but it is very hard to benchmark anyone when you know they are in wildly differing cars - Jack Aitken is a good driver, for instance - rivalled George Russell in GP3 - but you wouldn’t know it a lot of the time)
Ticktum’s problems, more than results, are his inability to play the politics of the racing scene. There have been drivers - JEV, I think I’ve said, was never very good at this, wearing his heart far too bloodied on his sleeve - who have made it to F1 despite this but I don’t know if that’s likely for Ticktum. He has an unfortunate reputation of taking things out on his team which, unless you are also achieving genuinely extraordinary results doesn’t bode well for a career.
Good management, coaching and PR training and support could help him - and he’s driving for Prema next year in a €2 million F2 seat so you’d hope he will also invest in that because his career will stall as frequently as a Dallara F2 2018 otherwise.
Should add that I don’t think he is especially hard done by, many drivers careers have been ended much earlier over far less. A lot of people never reach single seaters let alone have the funding for several international series.

Dragon Quest III: The Seeds of Salvation review
The original Dragon Quest was an extremely important and influential game that built the foundations to the Japanese role playing game genre, but was an extremely basic game that would end up outclassed by nearly any other RPG on the NES released afterwards that wasn’t completely incompetent, and while Dragon Quest II improved upon the foundation of the original, namely in terms of party progression, it was also a rushed, unbalanced, overly difficult and overall tedious experience. Despite its importance, Dragon Quest’s third installment would have to be a significant step up, and as luck would have it, it was, becoming another of the most legendary and important RPGs ever made, and firmly cementing Dragon Quest as a series that would stay around even to the present day, and how exactly this came to be is what we’ll be looking at today. The version I played was the SNES remake with a fan made English patch, so many of the names in the screenshots won’t match up with official translations. Other options are the Game Boy Color version, which was officially released in English, and even has a bit more exclusive content, namely a very time consuming sidequest and a bonus dungeon related to it, the Ice Cave, and much more recently, the mobile/Switch version, which is also available in English, and is based on the SNES version, minus some of its exclusive content. Be warned, there will be spoilers.
Tumblr media
Story: In an unnamed land, geographically similar to the real world, the archfiend Baramos has appeared and unleashed monsters to plague the land, with its people’s woes ranging from groups of bandits robbing kings and kidnapping citizens, to monsters impersonating rulers, to entire towns being wiped out by the forces of Baramos, who ultimately plots to destroy the entire world. A hero from Aliahan, Ortega, once set out on a journey to slay the archfiend, only to fall in combat with a dragon over a volcano. The child of Ortega is thus given the task of slaying Baramos themselves on their 16th birthday, with the help of a group of adventurers recruited from Aliahan’s tavern.
Tumblr media
On the surface, it’s still not much more of a plot than the first two games, and for the most part, that is true, but it’s still much more interesting simply because there’s much more going on. Many of the towns you visit are facing some sort of crisis, or have some sort of interesting circumstances around them, such as the immigrant town that slowly changes and expands as the game goes on, making them a lot more fun to discover and explore compared to the towns of the first two games. Additionally, there’s the famous and influential late game twist that strikes after defeating Baramos, namely the reveal of Zoma, Baramos’ superior, and the second world map of Alefgard, the setting of the first Dragon Quest. These two twists are a large part of what made Dragon Quest III so impactful when it came out in 1988, and considering the game presents itself as unrelated to the previous games, and that by the time you defeat Baramos, you’ll have explored the entire world, barring two small locations at most, they hold up fairly well even today. There’s not much more for me to add besides this, however, so it’s time to hop straight to the gameplay.
Tumblr media
Gameplay: Dragon Quest III uses the same turn based battle system as the first two games, and besides things like new types of spells and weapons, not too much is changed with the combat itself. The biggest change DQ3 provides is to the party progression system. Instead of the Hero being completely alone like the first game, or gaining two fixed party members in the second, DQ3 allows you to build a party from the ground up, besides the Hero, who’s always required to be in the party, and has the exclusive Hero class, with well balanced stats and unique and useful spells. The party size has been increased to four at a time, and party members can be created and exchanged in Aliahan, with a total of 8 different classes they can be: warriors, slow, yet well equipped physical fighters that act has tanks and heavy hitters, priests, who specialize in healing and support spells and, contrary to most healers in RPGs, actually have decent equipment and offensive options, mages, typical magic attackers with great offensive spells, yet bad physical stats, martial artists, physical attackers with great agility who forgo most equipment and have a higher chance of landing critical hits, merchants, average at best fighters who have supporting abilities like being able to earn extra gold after battle, gadabouts, odd and clownish characters with bad stats besides luck, and a fixed chance to simply goof off and take random actions instead of doing as commanded, thieves, a class exclusive to the remakes, with great agility and several abilities that mainly help with exploration, and sages, who learn nearly every spell in the game, and have a wide selection of equipment options, yet cannot be put in the party to start.
Tumblr media
Compared to Final Fantasy I, which had a similar class based party system, and came out only a few months before DQ3, this system actually has quite a few advancements. Most importantly, you’re never simply stuck with the party you start with. As long as you can make it to Aliahan, you can simply make new characters and swap out whoever you’re currently using. Obviously, doing this too much isn’t very practical, considering new members will be behind on EXP, but not being able to permanently lock yourself into an awful party combination is a big improvement alone. Party members who have reached level 20 can also change classes at Alltrades Abbey, resetting their level to 1, and cutting their stats in half, but keeping any learned abilities, meaning, if you were so inclined, you could make a mage with the physical stats of a warrior, a warrior with the speed of a thief, and so forth. Changing classes like this is also the only way to get sages into the party, and even then, only with the use of a Words of Wisdom book, of which only two exist in the game. This lends itself to a lot of creativity, and while I personally didn’t use this mechanic much, only turning my priest into a sage, it’s still an impressive level of complexity for a game this old.
Tumblr media
The class balance is also fairly interesting, as beyond the upsides and downsides already listed, classes also level at different rates. Warriors are expensive to equip and very slow, but level the fastest out of the main offensive classes. Martial artists are, by contrast, very cheap, but have the third slowest leveling rate in the game, and the little equipment they do have is usually pretty difficult to get, especially their weapons. Merchants are guaranteed to eventually fall behind if you try to use them, but actually have quite a bit of exclusive, and good, equipment early on, and level the fastest out of everyone. Gadabouts are liabilities, but level second fastest, and can become sages for free once they reach level 20, making them an investment class. Despite how several classes are very obviously inferior in the long run, you actually can get away with some pretty unorthodox party combinations, at least earlier on. Take my party of hero, warrior, martial artist, and priest: very strong physically, but expensive to upkeep, despite the martial artist somewhat balancing it out, and lacking in offensive magic. While switching the priest to sage later on mostly fixed the latter issue, I was still left wishing I had taken a mage with me from the start several times, and yet I was still more than capable of finishing the game. While the difficulty has definitely been lowered compared to the first two games, that’s still a sign of ultimately successful balancing.
Tumblr media
For some more combat related changes and improvements, some stats have been added or changed since the first two games. Resilience now determines how many hit points a character can gain when leveling up along with being added to physical defense as before, Wisdom determines a character’s potential magic points, as well as how soon they learn spells, with spells being delayed or expedited by up to three levels, and Luck determines how well a character can avoid debuffs and status ailments inflicted by monsters. Related to these stats, exclusive to the remakes is the personality system, which affects the stat growth of each character, with each party member gaining a personality during character creation or, in the case of the Hero, through a personality quiz given at the start of the game. While this generally doesn’t matter too much for casual play, assuming you aren’t unlucky enough to get the worst personalities on all your party members, it still adds an even greater deal of complexity, either allowing you to try to compensate for a character’s weaknesses, or add to their strengths. You could, for example, give a female warrior the Amazon personality, raising their strength growth, but lowering their agility, wisdom, and luck growth, stats they don’t care about much anyway. You can also change personalities during the course of the game, either temporarily by equipping certain accessories, or permanently by reading certain books scattered throughout the game, which further adds to the depth. It’s a bit overwhelming, but still pretty interesting to see.
Tumblr media
Beyond the combat and classes, there’s still a lot of nice things to see. The bag from DQ6, which can hold an unlimited amount of items which can be taken out at any time, has been added, allowing easy inventory management on the spot. The Zoom spell now lets you return to towns of your choice, rather than the last place you saved your game, and while not every town can be warped to, it’s still a massive time saver. There’s a day night cycle, which gradually changes when traversing the world map and affects the state of the towns, and while it isn’t super prominent, there are a few towns pretty heavily affected by it, and you actually get a few ways to manipulate it later on. There’s also a few minigames added, once again exclusive to the remakes, those being the monster arena, where you can bet on computer controlled monster fights for the chance of winning money, and Treasures n' Trapdoors, which is basically a giant board game one of your party members can traverse, with several very valuable prizes available, both from winning and from landing on certain spots on the boards. Despite being very luck based, it’s creative and rewarding enough that the boards are actually a lot of fun to play, and the Switch version lacking this minigame entirely is a big shame. The remakes also added the Cloudsgate Citadel, a bonus dungeon accessible after defeating the final boss, with a superboss, Xenlon, waiting at the end. Defeating Xenlon within a certain number of turns allows you one wish, such as opening up a new Treasures n’ Trapdoors track, or resurrecting a certain character, and thankfully, you don’t actually need to traverse the entire dungeon again to refight Xenlon for more wishes, as a Zoom location is added only a few rooms away.
Tumblr media
The biggest improvement DQ3 makes, however, is just how well the game flows. There’s still grinding to be found, yes, but generally, the game goes by much faster. Characters move quickly, the difficulty, as mentioned before, is much lowered, so you don’t need to grind 5 levels just to walk a bit north, and there’s just a lot of variety that keeps the game fresh all the way through, instead of becoming monotonous like DQ2. The dungeons are also much more reasonably designed compared to the giant, nightmarish mazes of DQ2, and while you do get a ship like in DQ2, it comes quite a bit later, keeping the amount of areas now available to explore from being as overwhelming. The obligatory key item fetch quest, this time collecting the six orbs to hatch the phoenix Ramia, is also much more reasonable to complete, with the orbs either being in locations that NPCs directly talk about, or being acquired by fighting bosses. Speaking of which, there’s also many more bosses than in previous games, and while they’re not as frequent as in most RPGs, they still add a nice bit of variety, along with actually being pretty challenging, in a good way. Overall, Dragon Quest III’s gameplay actually holds up very well, and just makes it a lot of fun to play. Even considering this is a remake with a lot of quality of life improvements, I was amazed that this was originally an NES game.
Tumblr media
Graphics: DQ3′s visuals are quite nice, as the SNES version was made with DQ6′s engine. To give a comparison, whereas the games using DQ5′s engine were about comparable to the visuals of Final Fantasy IV and V, the visuals here are comparable to Final Fantasy VI, and considering that’s one of the best looking SNES games out there, that’s a pretty big leap. The character designs come out quite well, and many locations have unique looks to them, both towns and dungeons, with the Pyramid and Baramos’ ghastly castle sticking out the most to me. The enemy battle sprites are still great, and are actually animated whenever they attack, adding a lot of life to them.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sound: As with the rest of the series, DQ3′s soundtrack was done by Koichi Sugiyama, and it’s once again a great soundtrack, even better than the soundtracks of the previous games. From the peaceful Small Shrine, to the iconic Overture, to the peaceful Heavenly Flight, to the world map theme Adventure, to the great final boss theme, Hero’s Challenge, it’s a soundtrack that’s a joy to listen to. It also gives towns different themes for both day and night, which is one of my favorite things to see in games.
Tumblr media
Conclusion: Overall, I would give Dragon Quest III a recommended. It’s aged very, very well, and genuinely feels like it could have been on the SNES to start. Between the much deeper, yet ultimately accessible mechanics that give quite a bit of replay value, to much better overall design gameplay, graphical, and sound design, it makes a fantastic entry point for the series, if you have a liking for classic RPGs. Till next time. -Scout

Dangerous Waters
Melly still wasn’t sure what exactly had happened. Well, perhaps some part of her did, but with the scattered state of her thoughts, it was nigh impossible for her to think back over and string things together in any meaningful order.
She remembered showing up to Fort Tilden with the Cobwebs, and she had sensed Oliver as they approached, along with four other sources of danger. They had moved in, and a fight had started, with her facing off against Oliver. But at some point… her memory lost focus. That crawling, writhing sensation had wormed its way back into her mind-- hadn’t they undone that spell?-- and her coordination had slipped. At the time, she had had enough sense to try and retreat, but with her steps unbalanced, he had caught up quickly, catching her and dragging her down into the dark of… wherever they were.
She could tell that she was in a small room now, dank and cold air filling the underground space. At this point, the name wasn’t important anymore, seeing as her mind’s focus was drawn to other things. Every dark corner had the potential to hide danger, and every crack and chip in the concrete walls was just another space for some twisted, unfathomable thing to stretch outwards from. The paranoia from before had been straining, though manageable, but this time she felt like it was completely overwhelming her. On top of that, her spider-sense kept going off at unknown things as she had been dragged past them, and now its scream of warning was focused on the figure of green energy and metal that had a clawed arm clamped around her.
“You still think you can get out of this?” Oliver said, a smirk on his face as he watched Melly kick at the air with her still-free legs. “It’s admirable, if not pointless. I mean… all that work, all that searching and fighting… and look where you are now. At my complete mercy. And my associate’s, I suppose. I’m looking forward to watching you as she… feeds you to her Patron or whatever. In any case, it will be one less little Spider that I have to deal with.”
Melly only really took in about half of what he had said, the induced fear and confusion driving most of her thoughts. She could feel it drawing out her spider instincts, which urged her to escape and hide, and for once, she was inclined to do just that exact thing, though the former would have to be done before the latter of the two. She stared back at Oliver with glowing red eyes-- her mask had come off early on, back when she had still been near the others-- and she began to grunt and hiss in her frantic, paranoia-fueled attempt to break free. Where she felt her own strength make headway against Oliver’s arms, more green-tinted metal crept up to mend and reinforce it.
“I suppose it’s sad, in a way,” Oliver continued. “You and your ‘friends’ always talked about all of the great things you had done with your Shard… and even with that, here you are, writhing like a child with a tantrum. Honestly, I could just-- oops!”
The claw of Oliver’s arm suddenly opened, and gravity jerked Melly downwards, causing her to smack into the floor. Not a moment later, though, she had scrambled up onto her hands and knees, making a break for the nearest wall in an attempt to scale it. She’d only made it a handhold or two upwards when Oliver’s tentacle darted out again, clamping down on her leg and pulling her back over. There was a loud crack as two fist-sized chunks of the wall were pulled along after her, dropping off of where they had stuck to her hands.
“Oh, I’m so sorry,” Oliver said, sarcastic and unapologetic. “I just get butterfingers sometimes, that’s all.”
He’d pulled Melly off the ground again at this point, though this time she hung upside-down by the leg Oliver had grabbed. He lifted her higher, so that her face was just about level with his.
“Now, where were we?” Oliver said. “Ah! I was just about to further emphasize the true depths of your--”
He found himself cut off as Melly’s hand swung up, launching a spray of webbing directly at Oliver’s face that soon solidified from its glowing state into an angry red color. Oliver stumbled back, growling as his eyes flashed green with a surge of rage. The arm holding Melly snapped to one side, releasing her and sending her flying through the air. The far wall cracked as she collided with it, knocking her breath out of her as she dropped to the ground-- it hadn’t been enough to hurt her significantly, with her energy welling up to help her take the blow, but it still hurt.
“You think that was funny, Spider?” Oliver hissed at her, bolts of metal from his assimilated mass curving up to cut the webbing away. “You think that you’re still able to--”
At that moment, Melly could feel a different arm wrap around her and yank her away off the ground. Even in her state of mind, this tendril that held her in the air was definitely not one that belonged to Oliver. It was far more slimy… with that distinctive energy of the Writhing One spiking all around her. She managed to catch a glimpse of Oliver’s associate: it was the exact same woman she saw in her mind.
“Juice Man, remember what we agreed on? I’d like our dear Weaver here to stay alive for the time being,” Odyssia sighed as her other tentacles undulated in the air, “I know she’s a Spider and all and she could probably take a lot more punishment than your average Joe, but I’d like to keep her just functional enough so I can properly study her.”
“Yes, yes, of course,” he said, rolling his eyes. “I wasn’t intending to kill her before you had your chance to do your research, if that was your concern.”
He re-oriented himself, lifting himself off the ground with his tentacles.
“I suppose there will be more time to gloat later-- do what you want,” he added, waving one of his upper arms dismissively. “I wouldn’t dream of interrupting another Octavius’ studies without good reason.”
“Right,” she replied, before turning to face Melly with a fascinated smile, “While I may have learned a lot from information that I’ve kindly been given access to… there is nothing like being there to study something up close and personal.”
With that, she swiftly took Melly away with her into a new room somewhere deep in the bunker. From what Melly could barely make out, this room looked like a makeshift laboratory that didn’t look out of place in a horror movie. Strange organs and other loose body parts were compartmentalized in various containers. Tables covered in glassware and arcane books, drawers filled with various equipment, several aquarium tanks filled with unfamiliar sea life… coupled with the darkness, the debris that speckled the floor, and the cold, musty air, this place hardly looked sterile in any way.
Odyssia brought her over to a stolen hospital gurney and laid her down onto it, using her tendrils to hold her down as her human hands began to strap her down with the restraints.
“You know, you’re pretty lucky as far as my test subjects go,” Odyssia rattled off to her. “Between you and me, most people who get this treatment from me personally are looking at a new, monstrous form in their future. But, you… I’m having a feeling that you’re definitely not a lobbyist who tries to shut down environmental protections for their down lines… or some fuckwit politician who spews misinformation to spark irrational fear or hatred in people… or some idiot who doesn’t ‘believe’ in science and would much rather trust in some pseudoscientific homemade ‘remedies’.”
Odyssia snorted at the thought.
“You know, Weaver, we never really spoke to each other in person, but I know you are brilliant in your own right,” she continued as she tightened the restraints, “It’s a real shame, though. Your Shard is an incredible source of power. And such power rightfully belongs in the hands of the Writhing One. Unlike Juice Man, this isn’t personal for me.”
Melly had kept up her kicking and fighting all down the hallway, and as Odyssia tightened the restraints of the gurney, she kept straining against them with as much force as she could muster. This room was full of danger-- spider-sense easily told her that-- but as the hallucinations made the dark corners deeper and the creatures and scattered parts more monstrous, a swarm of paranoid thoughts started to close in on her.
She’s going to hurt you. She’s going to make you writhe and bleed like all the others. She wants to take what is yours, and what is you.
Somewhere, deep in Melly’s mind, her coherent self managed to reach through, and she renewed her effort to fight the spell’s effects and push back against the mental flood of the Writhing One’s influence. Her brow furrowed, and her glowing eyes started to flicker to and from an even stronger crimson hue as she made her effort.
“Get… it… out…” she managed to mutter, voice strained through both panic and effort.
Odyssia adjusted her glasses, examining the glow of her eyes with increased interest.
“Well, if I did that you’d fight back. Besides, seeing you manage to power through this from sheer force of willpower is something I’m far more invested in. If this is what one Shard is capable of… I wonder what an entire Prism could accomplish,” Odyssia mused, her demeanor going still to aid in her observations. “Not many people can just power through my spells like you’re doing right now. Not only does that require an insane amount of mental resilience but the magical prowess to accomplish this is just as an extraordinary feat.”
Odyssia, of course, already knew where such mental prowess and willpower had come from-- at least, it was easy to assume from the memories she had gleaned from Melly. Her soul torn out, fighting for control of a body that wasn’t hers. Both mind and soul shattered by a creature of dreams, pulled back together by both Shard and friends. Her fights against Brevi’s control, her mother’s attempt to change her memories again, even against the toxic shards that had leaked from Itzi’s blade, poisoning her all those months ago. She had fought hard to keep herself her, and she would certainly defend it with all of her strength.
Melly squeezed her eyes shut, trying to block out the twisting room around her as she pushed harder and harder to bring herself back, each push feeling like she was dragging her mind through thick ink. A few flickers of red light raced upwards along her neck, fading just as quickly as they had appeared.
“Get… out,” she repeated, voice a bit stronger. “Get. Out. Of. My. Head.”
Once again, as Odyssia allowed herself to dive deeper into her pursuit of knowledge, that one memory of Melly’s mother kept nagging at her. She furrowed her brow in frustration, this time having her tentacles come in to hold Melly down further.
“I can’t! I-I won’t! This is my breakthrough! This is for the Writhing One,” Odyssia hissed at her. “Don’t make me make this have to hurt.”
“You’ll... hurt me. Either way,” Melly mumbled out. “Change my head. I can’t… I won’t… let her. You. Anyone. Break me again.”
Odyssia grimaced slightly as she stared down at her.
Go on. Why aren’t you choking her or something? She’s not going down without a fight, Odyssia was starting to wrestle with herself. Prove her wrong. You’re smarter than her. Don’t let her win.
Unconsciously, a tentacle began to entertain the idea of wrapping around Melly’s neck. Just as it was about to constrict her, Odyssia realized what was happening and quickly pulled it back from her neck. A sinking feeling in her stomach began to take hold as the internal debate within her mind set in.
Why did I do that? I’m not supposed to kill her!
“... T-This is my last warning, Weaver. You need to understand that I’m being far nicer than I could be. I could be breaking you right fucking now but guess what? I’m holding back on you! Want to know what breaking you could look like? I could’ve turned you a monster, make you feel what it’s like to be at the bottom of the Mariana Trench, or take you apart and dissect you but no, I’m giving you the chance to make this easy. Don’t throw it away,”
Melly was quiet for a moment. Realistically, there wasn’t much she could do in her current condition to fight back against anything worse than what she was dealing with now… but to stop fighting would be to spit in the face of all her prior triumphs of self. Her thoughts were still jumbled, but if there was a way to get things to where they could talk.
Melly’s head turned towards Odyssia slightly, eyes opening to look directly at her.
“...all of that… is that really what you want to do?”
Odyssia froze, for the briefest of moments. She turned away from Melly, running her hand over her face.
This is what you want to do.
But why was she still fighting herself on this? She forcefully pounded her fist onto the gurney, cursing underneath her breath.
“Of course it’s what I want to fucking do… Why would I continue to do this if I didn’t?” Odyssia mutters although her tone suggested that she was beginning to struggle.
“Want...” Melly said, pausing for a moment as she tried to put a solid thought together. “We want… things. You want things from me. I want to stay me. There’s want… but there’s need too. All of the hurting… is that what you need to do?”
“You… Y-you’re just saying that to get out of this,” Odyssia replies as she shuts her eyes, still refusing to look at her, “Why would my needs matter to you?”
“Because if you need it… and you can choose it… you will. Would’ve.” Melly said. “I can’t make you do anything. Can’t make you…” Melly trailed off for a moment, shutting her eyes for a moment as she had to pull her focus back in. “But… I can fight. Or I can talk. And you… do you need… want to fight? Or do you want to talk? Which will get… what you need?”
“Alright, alright, stop right there. I… I cannot continue this if you're going to talk to me like that. I am barely getting by with following this conversation,” Odyssia groaned as she runs her hands in her messy hair. She turned to face Melly, making direct eye contact with her before continuing, much more quietly, “Tell you what: if I… lessen… the spell’s effects to at least let you speak coherently, you’re going to stay right there and not move. Then I’ll let you talk. If you try to pull the wool over my eyes, I will get mean. Got it?”
Well, though Melly certainly couldn’t make any guarantees that she wouldn’t eventually try to escape… for now, it was the only break she was probably gonna get, and her own mental resistance would only get her so far before exhaustion won out.
“...I understand.” she said.
Odyssia rubbed her forehead, already feeling a headache coming on from the tension in her body. Slowly releasing a deep breath, she closed her eyes to focus on something.
As she did so, Melly began to feel that Eldritch presence dwindled… not enough to release her from paranoia or the sickness she had felt, it was just enough for her to at least think a bit more clearly. Melly let out the breath she’d been unconsciously holding as the strain on her mind lessened, and took a moment to recollect herself-- man, it was good to be able to think mostly clearly again. The observing Odyssia would be able to see the red glow in her eyes recede, and though it was still present it no longer burned with as much intensity as it had been.
“You wanted to talk? Then talk,” Odyssia said coldly, although there was a slight hint of wanting to know what Melly was going to tell her.
“Look…” Melly began, “this whole thing with the Shards… What exactly is your end goal for all this? And you mentioned the Prism too… if you’ve been in my mind, you know that I’ve already done the rounds with someone who wanted to do the exact same thing you mentioned. And you know what happened to him when he tried it.”
Odyssia would indeed know who Melly was talking about-- Alexander Hobbs, aka the Beholder. She knew he had tried to control the Shards in a bid to access their combined energy… and she knew that it was what had ultimately killed him, the energy he sought burning him away to nothing.
“The Shards aren’t for me to use. I told you, this is for the Writhing One. I know those Shards are clearly not meant for a mere mortal to use. That’s why I’m giving it to my Patron. They don’t abide to human limitations,” Odyssia said, “I devote myself to the glorious Writhing One. Without it, I’d go back to being some repressed, pathetic shrinking violet who can’t fucking stand up for herself or the causes she cares about. So to show my gratitude, I must give back.”
Melly was taken a bit aback by some of what Odyssia had said-- it seemed that there was some baggage behind what course she had chosen to take. Even with it catching her notice, though, she wasn’t sure how Odyssia would react to having it be brought up here and now.
“How do you know if it can use them?” Melly asked. “With all due respect to the power and influence they do have in this world-- which, as you’re aware, I’m currently the subject of-- how do you know that they’ll be able to harness the energy of the Shards. Energy Weaver said they couldn’t alter or control it. The Being said it was out of their jurisdiction. The Palpitors-- they were willing to kill us when we encountered them. Wouldn’t it have been easier for them to just kill a wielder, take their Shard so that one of their Nobles would have access to an unlimited amount of energy? Why else would they have not done that, if not because they couldn’t claim it? Look, what I’m saying is that there’s things about the Shards and how they work that neither of us know. Would you take the risk of sending a Shard to your Patron without knowing what effect it might have? How would they react if what you gave it harmed them?”
“...To act like I know everything regarding my Patron’s full capabilities is to indulge in pointless hubris,” she scoffed, “And either way, you grossly misunderstand how Patrons operate. Patrons—unless some astronomically universal level apocalyptic circumstances occur—never leave their realm of magic. If they did, there wouldn’t be a need for them to bestow an incredibly tiny fraction of their power to mortals like me to do their bidding, right? If they want something, they’ll have people like me to accomplish what they need us to do. This is something they’ve been interested in for a while now. And who am I to object to the Writhing One’s wishes? While I can’t pretend to know how exactly they will deal with whatever a Shard brings… what I can tell you is that they’re approaching this with curiosity and they know the risk; after all, they know what I know.”
“And what you know is what I know-- I’m presuming that’s why you went rooting around in my mind in the first place,” Melly countered. She thought for a moment, deciding that pushing that point further wouldn’t do any good. “Okay… new question. If they never leave their realm of magic, how exactly are they planning on using my Shard? Are you intending to magically mail me to where they are so they can get at it or something?”
Odyssia chuckled at that, “That’s a very crass way of putting it but, essentially, you’re right. I am going to send the Shard directly to them.”
“‘The Shard’,” Melly repeated. “The way you say that has a very conspicuous lack of me included in it.”
“What? You want me to send you in there as well? I highly doubt that you’d be interested in being in the grand presence of the Writhing One. Honestly, I thought the way I planned was more humane, not subjecting you to such unspeakable terrors,” Odyssia laughed.
“And your plan is… to kill me?” Melly asked. “Or try and remove it yourself? Because I have experience with that second option, and I’ve gotta say… hard pass.”
“It’s worth a try,” Odyssia sighed, coming down from her brief amusement, “And if I can’t remove it without killing you, well… I suppose that doesn’t leave many options for me, unfortunately..”
“Well, even if you do get it out without killing me... I’m still gonna get a one-on-one with the Writhing One,” Melly said. “The whole soul thing, remember? You pull out the Shard, and my soul comes with it. The whole point of sparing me is kind of moot there-- doubly so, considering that Ollie would have no problem killing me without the Shard there to do its thing. And obviously, you don’t seem inclined to kill me if you can help it… which I appreciate, even given my currently unfavorable circumstances. Other than that…”
Melly did think of a third option, but even thinking about it made her blood run cold. One of the Writhing One’s things was manipulating minds, right? If so… what was stopping them from just brainwashing her, or something similar, to try and control the Shard through her?
In a nervous gulp, she swallowed her words, glancing away from Odyssia as she hastily tried to think of any alternative thing to propose-- the more time an option gave her, the better.
“... Were you going to say something there?” Odyssia asked, “And before you do, I’d like to at least thank you for being appreciative. At least you’re more engaging to speak to than any of the previous people who once were strapped in here just like you. I generally hear the same boring, mundane things from people who end up here… In a strange way, I’m almost glad that I gave you the chance to talk,”
Gee, I wonder why everyone else was less engaging, Melly thought to herself, not thinking further on that. Better to keep those mental images at bay.
“Have to appreciate the little victories, I suppose,” she said, words both sarcastic and sincere. “Punching and the like isn’t always the best way to solve things in the hero biz-- sometimes trying to talk through things first can go a long way. Never hurts to try, I suppose.”
Melly went quiet, debating whether to bring up what she had meant to say. Odyssia had clearly heard her odd pause, and she wasn’t fully sure whether or not she would be able to tell if she was lying or not.
“And… yeah, guess I thought I had something to say,” she said. “Wasn’t anything good, though.”
“... Yes,” Odyssia muttered.
… Why did she sound so much like Amari just now? Nononono, I can’t let myself think like that. I can’t let myself see her in the Weaver or I’ll really be in shit, Odyssia thought to herself, now actually beginning to feel worried, Goddamnit, Odyssia, stop this right now. You can’t afford to do this.
“... And what makes you think that?’ Odyssia said, trying to avoid thinking further on her realization.
“Because it’s something I’ve had people try to do to me before, in one way or another,” Melly said. “And I doubt I’d be able to do much about it if it’s what you or your Patron decide to do to me, hence my aversion to bring it up.”
“...Let me take a wild guess,” Odyssia began, if a bit hesitant herself, “Are you trying to appeal to my humanity in some way? As if you knew anything about me? I mean, you’re welcome to try it. I will at least humor you.”
“Wasn’t really expecting it to be an appeal-- in the regard of me getting out of this, at least,” Melly said. “You don’t seem like the type to be easily convinced to change your mind when you commit to something-- Ollie was the same way. The point being-- seeing as I’d rather not go through something involving that again, I’m refraining from bringing it up as an option at all.”
Melly wasn’t sure how many of her non-Shard memories Odyssia had gleaned, or if she had come to the conclusion of what she was meaning by her words-- it was entirely possible that she’d be able to put the pieces together if she had all of them. For now, though, she sat tight and hoped that that would satisfy her.
“... Fair enough,” Odyssia replied, although something about the way she said this made her tone waver a bit. “I have been described as ‘ride or die’, I suppose. But make no mistake—and don’t tell Juice about this—I’ve come to understand that aside from tenacious tendencies… we don’t really have much in common. Consider this food for thought.”
“Juice?” Melly said, amused by the apparent nickname. “And… yeah, I think I’ve noticed that— and that’s coming from someone that knew him before all of this Shard business.”
“Long story,” Odyssia replied cheekily, “In the nicest way possible… did he always have a stick up his ass? Was he born with it? Because I’ve worked with many people and I have to be honest, he’s not the most fun person to be around.”
“Well…” Melly said, thinking of where to start. “He was always a bit stuck-up, but he knew his tech stuff— was in classes with someone I know. I think he’d been doing the Ock stuff behind the scenes for a while… not that I ever picked up on it. Kept that hidden up until I had already handed the Green Shard over for him to claim. Was originally hoping that he’d be a part of our team, but, well… you’ve seen where he’s ended up in that regard. In hindsight… it was pretty dumb of me to hand it over to anyone, whether or not I trust them. I was new to the hero stuff, and definitely more naive than I am now with a few more years under my belt. Sure, I may wield a Shard, but after that, I don’t think I’m qualified to be the one that decides who stuff like that gets handed out to.”
“Hmm. Sounds like someone I know,” Odyssia commented to herself before replying to Melly. “I suppose I could relate to you hoping someone you care about would join you.. but that’s besides the point. Probably wasn’t anything like what you went through anyhow, considering that the one I’m talking about is… a much different person from him, let’s say.”
“That’s fair,” Melly said. “Even with the similarities… there’s plenty of differences more often than not, especially between dimensions. I guess the whole mess— the Shards getting involved and all— sort of make ours a bit of a unique case, at any rate.”
Melly paused, thinking something over.
“You know… how did you and Oliver end up coming across one another anyway?”
Odyssia chuckled at that. “It is in my best interest not to be a snitch. I might be more amicable towards you than most people that find themselves on this gurney, but that doesn’t necessarily mean I’ll spill everything about myself or my whereabouts. Nice try, though.”
“Eh, it was worth a shot,” Melly said, shrugging. “Guess you’ve got to be an Ock to get in on all the secret Ock meetings… or however else you two ended up meeting.”
“Well, I’m sure you can come up with your own conclusions, considering that you somehow managed to start working with Spider-Glass,” she sighed as a tentacle of her stretches out to reach a clipboard and a pen on her desk.
“I suppose I can, yes,” Melly replied-- like Odyssia, it was probably in her or the other Spiders’ best interest not to go into detail on how that came about. Her eyes followed Odyssia’s tentacle as it reached over to the desk. Despite all of the pleasant conversation, she had to remind herself that she was on borrowed time. The Spiders would probably come after her eventually, but without a solid sense of how long it had been since was brought down here, she couldn’t be sure how much longer it would be before the others returned. The longer it took, the more time there would be for Odyssia to start trying things.
Odyssia, while not wanting to press further on how the two met, there was something on her mind in regards to her own spider. She took the clipboard and pen and began writing her observations on Melly down as she continues to speak.
“Speaking of… what are your thoughts on her, exactly?” she sincerely asked with no trace of joking around or cheekiness to her tone.
“What?” Melly said, admittedly caught a bit off-guard by the question. “She’s, uh… nice? Good teammate, good… all-around person?” She wasn’t exactly sure what Odyssia was trying to get at with that question, but knew it was better not to give specifics away freely.
Odyssia considered what Melly said for a moment. There was a gleam in her eye and a satisfied smile crossed her face as a subtle sense of pride exuded from her.
“Yes, she always was… I don’t expect anything less from her…” she muttered to herself, “You’re not alone in that assessment, Weaver. Many will agree with you on that front.”
“As I’ve seen-- and met,” Melly said. The way Odyssia had said that… she knew a bit about Amari and Odyssia’s history. Whatever connection they had outside of the hero stuff, in some regard she could still say that it was a good one.
“Yes… I suppose that’s one thing that me and old Juice Man can’t really relate to each other on,” Odyssia sighed.
Before either of them could say anything else, the tell-tale sound of metal stomping on concrete echoed down the corridor that Odyssia had brought Melly down. Feeling him approaching, Melly went still, keeping her head facing away from the door-- hopefully, she could avoid having Oliver know that she was more coherent than before. A moment later, Oliver entered the room, looking rather annoyed. His eyes scanned the room for a moment before locking on Odyssia.
Speak of the Devil, Odyssia thought to herself as she looked back at him.
“So… What is it this time, Oliver?” she asked, putting the clipboard and pen down on the gurney’s surface.
“Your… pet keeps bothering me,” he said with contempt. “I’m trying to review the notes on the Shards that you took from the Weaver, but I can’t focus with that thing constantly trying to pester me!”
Odyssia grimaced a bit, shifting her weight as she stepped closer to him. Upon doing so, she noticed Adorabilis, now clinging onto his leg with her tentacles.
“I see,” she said, nodding tightly, “Let me get her off you.”
Oliver let out a huff in an expression of ‘finally’, holding out his leg and shaking it impatiently.
“Hold still, Juice Man,” she sighed, “You don’t need to shake her around like that.”
Odyssia gently coaxed Adorabilis with her tentacles, using them to remove her off of Oliver’s leg. Oliver could feel the sensation of suction cups being pulled off of him as she was taken away into Odyssia’s arms.
“Alright, alright, you’re free now,” Odyssia said to Oliver as she heads over to one of the tanks. She opens it up to gently place the flapjack octopus inside.
“It’s appreciated,” Oliver said, reaching up to straighten the collar of his shirt with a punchy tug. “While I’m here… I might as well ask. How has your research gone, thus far? Anything… interesting?”
“Sure thing,” she replies casually as she shuts the tank’s lid tight, “I suppose, but this was more me wanting a closer look at her and her Shard’s energy.”
“You ‘suppose’?” Oliver said, raising an eyebrow. “And have you been able to glean anything from that as of yet?”
“I will have to make some minor adjustments on my method of offering the Shard to the Writhing One but otherwise, I’m sure you already know enough extensive information from that mind retrieval that I did,” Odyssia replied coolly.
“Indeed,” Oliver said, sounding mildly disappointed. “Speaking of which-- perhaps I should get back to reviewing that information. Perhaps she knows more about the pesky inhibiting devices that she’s used in our past few encounters. Quite fortunate that she had some spares on her this time around-- they usually burn out and damage themselves before I have the chance to inspect them more closely.”
“Sounds good to me,” Odyssia replied. “I will keep an eye on our guest here and make said adjustments to the plan.”
“And as I said before, I am quite looking forward to seeing the results,” Oliver said. Without another word, he turned, moving quickly out of the room back the way he had come.
As soon as he was gone, Odyssia groaned a little.
“Man, if I didn’t know better, I would’ve believed he was an energy vampire or something,” she muttered underneath her breath.
“Of the metaphorical sort, I’m assuming,” Melly said once she was sure Oliver was out of earshot. “I’ve met some actual energy vampires, and they tend to be a bit more direct with their energy-taking intentions.”
“Of course,” Odyssia chuckled, “A strange little man, he is.”
She picked up her clipboard and continues writing things down.
“... Now listen,” she muttered, recalling something, “I hate to admit it but I prefer you like this over when you could barely speak a coherent sentence. I… know that we really couldn’t be all that friendly after what I did to your mind and what I’m planning on doing. But even so, I feel like I should at least let you know this: Spider-Glass is… someone who is this very smart, very capable young lady. I know full well she’s going to show up eventually. Should she inevitably come to set you free just at the nick of time, promise me one thing: keep her safe. Her survival is… important to me.”
Melly stayed silent for a moment, taking in Odyssia’s words. It felt a bit strange, hearing that from someone with the intent to harm her… but she could tell that the Ock’s words were genuine.
“Us Spiders… we protect each other,” Melly said. “If she needs my help, if she ends up in danger… I’ll do what I can to make sure she’s safe at the end of things.”
There was a slight flicker of red in Melly’s eyes as she spoke-- a spark of determination and resolution, one could say. It was only there for a moment, though, before fading back to their usual crimson hue.
Odyssia smiled at that. Whether it was due to Melly’s promise, the brief glimmer of red, or a mixture of both, it was hard to say.
Both knew it was only a matter of time until Spider-Glass would return. Until then, Odyssia resolved herself to scribbling down what she had learned from her talk from Melly that she had neglected to inform Oliver about. And Melly, biding her time until the others returned, resigned herself to wait.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR LASER LEVEL?
Tumblr media
Laser level: what you need to know
- What does the word LASER mean: short for Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation. Light source stimulated in a very powerful beam.
- When we speak of laser level, the word is restricted because it comes in several categories: the rotary laser level (emits only one line and allows horizontal and possibly vertical alignment - if it is equipped with the option -) , the site laser (this laser level allows alignment and installation on sites with a long range, it equips building professionals), the cross laser (used mainly indoors it allows horizontal alignment and vertical simultaneously, some lasers are equipped with multiple laser beams); finally the laser level points (it designates the plumb points top bottom right left and is now coupled on some models with diodes projecting lines.
WHY BUY A LASER LEVEL?
To shoot levels over long distances without laser levels, you must use an automatic construction level more commonly known as a field telescope or optical level. the disadvantage with this type of device is that it mobilizes two people. one person behind the site telescope and one person holding the sight.
With the laser level, one person is enough to draw levels on the construction site. Since the most expensive in the building industry is labor, the laser level is becoming more and more democratized, despite its cost difference with the optical level. The laser level therefore offers savings in labor and time. This purchase can pay off very quickly, in some cases the laser level is depreciated over about 3 sites. The investment is very profitable.
Indoors, the purchase of a good quality laser level saves a lot of time, no more tedious transfers with spirit levels, all you have to do is trace on the laser lines.
GREEN OR RED LASER LEVEL?
In construction, the red ray represents 90% of sales. The green laser takes its place slowly but the diodes remain more and the laser technology more pointed because of the stronger heating of the laser diodes.
The green laser: a more visible laser
The visibility of a green beam is higher than that of red beams, and its locating quality is much better than that of any instrument with a red beam laser diode, which increases the laser range.
In concrete terms, the more visible the laser beam, the greater the working comfort, the greater the range and therefore the greater the gain in productivity. An additional cost to be favored for use in bright conditions or on working ranges of 20 to 40 m indoors beyond the use of a reception cell becomes essential because the laser beam is no longer visible.
Why is a green laser more visible?
Visibility green laserThe human eye can only distinguish light with a wavelength (measured in "nm") visible in the spectrum. The human eye sees light that falls between approximately 385 nm and 725 nm, the maximum is 555 nm. The green color located in the middle of this range and reaching 550nm is therefore the most visible light to the human eye. If you look at the specifications of most indoor red beam laser levels, you will find that the wavelength of the red beam is on average 635-670nm.
The green laser level has him a laser beam with a wavelength of 532 nm. The color green occupies the segment of the spectrum which is 4.3 times more visible!
INDOOR OR OUTDOOR LASER LEVEL?
The first question to ask concerns the main use : indoor use or outdoor use?
This question will largely depend on the final choice of laser level. In general, for outdoor use, it will be necessary to opt for rotating laser levels .
For mixed use, rotating or pulsed laser levels must be used (cross laser level equipped with a pulsating diode for compatibility with special line laser reception cells).
For indoor use, any type of cross, line, point, 360 laser level can be used , including rotating laser levels; utility will define the choice.
CROSS, POINT, PULSED OR ROTATING LASER LEVEL.
In general, the prices of laser levels vary with their degree of versatility and their power.
We will find the laser levels with points, the laser levels with lines, crosses, 360 ° and multilines designed for indoor use. One or more prisms are put behind the laser diodes to obtain points or lines. The laser beam is fixed.
Pulsed laser levels (like FL 66 Xtreme SP ) are levels with a fixed laser beam but which can be activated in pulsed beam (P button - Pulse of certain laser levels). By activating this Pulse button, you will find that the fixed beam is less visible. In fact it is pulsed, that is to say that the ray is emitted in wave. This wave can then be received by a laser receiver for work outdoors or over longer distances indoors.
The rotating laser level can be used in any environment, its rotating head projects a 360 ° beam. For outdoor work at spans greater than 20 m, it is essential to opt for a rotating laser level. Indeed, outdoors, the human eye does not see the laser beam. It is then imperative to use a laser receiver (also called a detection cell or detector) which will locate the laser beam.
HOW BETTER TO SEE THE LASER BEAM?
If it becomes difficult to see the laser beam, it is still possible to take laser viewing glasses . Either red glasses for a red ray, or green glasses for a green ray. The purpose of these glasses is to intensify the light and better see the laser beam. Attention, these are not protective glasses as some think but on the contrary glasses of intensification of the laser beam.
In any case, do not expect to see a rotating laser beam in direct sunlight. It is imperative to help you with a laser receiver.
LASER RECEIVING CELL AND OPERATION
Some speak of a receiver, others of a detector, others of a detection cell. It's the same thing: an electronic device that receives signals from the rotating laser (or pulsed laser). Do not confuse with the staff (rule where a laser cell can be attached).
To work with a laser cell , the rotating laser level must always be set to maximum speed so that the detector can easily receive the maximum number of signals. For a standard rotary laser level, set it to 600 rpm. Some large construction laser level intended for machine guidance such as the FL 500 HV have rotational speeds greater than 1000 rpm. This speed is used by the so-called machine guidance cells which are supposed to work over even greater distances.
ATTENTION , when buying a laser cell, look carefully for what type of laser it is intended for, rotary or line (pulsed) , the operating mode is not the same, there is no compatibility between the line laser and rotary laser receivers.
Working principle of the laser receiver:
There are two arrows on the laser cell. An arrow pointing down, an arrow pointing up. You just have to bring your cell down when the arrow is down and vice versa, this manipulation is done by sliding it on the staff. When the detector is on the precise path of the laser beam, the level is then indicated on the cell by horizontal bars with a continuous audible signal.
AUTOMATIC LASER LEVEL, LEVELING SYSTEM
Pendulum or motorized automatic laser level?
As a general rule, most automatic indoor laser levels are pendulum for cost. To simplify, imagine a pendulum with a laser diode attached to it. This metal pendulum is braked by magnets to stabilize quickly enough and thus gives an exact point.
A motorized automatic laser level costs more and is found on more high-end laser levels. The advantage is that the laser wedges itself. Absolutely no intervention is necessary, except to bring it back into its compensation range which generally varies between 3 and 6 °.
NOTE: Rotating lasers almost all have automatic horizontal leveling; as well as vertically for versatile rotating lasers operating horizontally and vertically.
SLOPE ROTARY LASER LEVEL
Certain rotating laser levels on the job site offer a certain possibility of tilting the rotation head.
The advantage is that in addition to generating a horizontal or vertical plane, or both, there is also the possibility of tilting the rotation head to make slopes: embankments, garage slopes, etc. This is a manual slope. On the FL 500 HV laser level, the slope is motorized. The desired slope is indicated on the control panel on X or Y and the laser searches on its own for the right slope. The FL 500 HV laser is referred to as a dual slope motorized automatic laser level .
The inclination of the laser head is generally ± 9% and for some models it can be controlled remotely with a remote control. For steep slopes, however, there is the FL 550 HG which is the only one able to perform slopes of ± 25% .
LASER CLASSES
Classification of lasers according to DIN EN 60825-1: 2014, laser levels are classified according to classes 2 and 3R
Class 2 lasers
The use of this device is authorized in compliance with the safety instructions described in the device's user manual and does not require any other special precautions. Eye protection is normally provided by aversion responses and blinking of the eye. It is still not recommended to look into the beam .
Class 3R lasers
These laser levels are for professional use only. The precautions for use are greater, the output power of the laser beam being greater . it is therefore strongly recommended to avoid direct radiation into the eyes . The advantage of these laser diodes, longer range with a laser receiver, better visibility without a receiver.
LASER LEVEL FUNCTIONS
Now let's discuss some functions available on certain type of laser level and see what they correspond to.
Rotary laser level, scan mode:
In general, all rotating laser levels have a Scan mode. In rotary mode, the rotating laser emits a beam that is not necessarily visible, even indoors (if the light is strong). To overcome this problem, it is recommended indoors to put the laser level in the Scan position .
The laser level then emits a point which scans very quickly from right to left and left to right. All the power of the laser level is concentrated on one point . This sweeping motion gives the effect of a line. Outside, the question does not arise, it is necessary to automatically use a receiver.
Safety stop function (TILT):
For manual level laser levels, there is no automatic shutdown function. Even if the laser level is inadvertently shifted, the laser will continue to rotate.
In general, any automatic laser level, regardless of the type of automation, has a safety stop . But not all of them have the TILT function.
Rare are the line laser levels that have this type of safety, if a line laser level is jostled on its tripod, the laser level may go out of its compensation range and the laser lines will start to flash, but if the shock is minimal it will reset automatically.
Rotary construction laser levels are generally provided with this function. Indeed, it is possible that the laser level is moved (jostled tripod, involuntary displacement due to the vagaries of the building sites), the automatic laser level then stops rotating but is automatically reset to a new reference height. Thus, without anyone noticing, this movement then causes leveling errors.
To avoid this kind of problem, most rotating laser levels have a safety tilt function. The inadvertently moved laser level is blocked and does not reset itself , thus avoiding any risk of error.
Zone masking:
Zone masking appears today on less than 1000 € laser levels.
What does this function consist of? It is more and more common that on large sites, several laser levels are rotating at the same time. Zone masking makes it possible to prevent the laser levels from polluting each other, it is therefore possible to mask work zones so that the laser beam only lights up on defined areas, so that the susceptible areas to use another device can work without interference and vice versa.
VWS Combined with TILT mode:
Vibration Wind Security (VWS) allows working with strong winds, jolts and vibrations, the weak movements thus having no influence on the laser. Important movements will stop the laser rotation. This mode combined with the TILT function optimizes the processing of the force of the shaking .
Remote control function:
Possibility of deactivating the control of the laser by remote control in order to avoid disturbing a site where several laser levels are installed.
TRACKING function:
Allows automatic alignment of the laser level, the laser automatically detects the receiving cell and aligns itself with the mark with extreme precision. A significant time saving. To learn more about Tracking technology .

hey! i was wondering how you rate books on goodreads lol i haven't really found a system that works for me
hello! my rating on goodreads is a little all over the place! i’ve been using goodreads for a number of years, and in the past i really only rated it on a level of personal enjoyment — i should really go through my older books and rerate things.
my goodreads rating is technically this:
★★★★★: I absolutely loved this book, and would re-read it multiple times. I would recommend it with no hesitation. ★★★★☆: I really enjoyed this book, and would encourage others to read it, although there were some parts I didn’t connect with. ★★★☆☆: I enjoyed this book, but there were some things that I wish were done differently. I might recommend this book, depending on the person. ★★☆☆☆: I didn’t enjoy this book, but was interested in the concept or could see how others might like it. I would be quite hesitant to recommend this book. ★☆☆☆☆: I very strongly disliked this book, and struggled to get invested, or there may have been aspects that I strongly disagreed with. I would not recommend this book.
however, there are a lot of books that i personally really connect to or enjoy that are not good/well-written books. sometimes they are just fun, and that’s okay! there are also some really well-written books that i personally can’t connect to; sometimes it’s just a matter of mood, or sometimes it just isn’t a book for me! not every book is for me, and that’s okay too.
i think what i’m trying to say is my goodreads rating is a little all over the place, but i’ve been trying to rate books more objectively? i also tend to rate books more favorably (i think actually, most people tend to rate things more favorably, unless it was truly awful), but there’s no shame in rating things honestly, and with 1 or 2 stars. i know i’m more inclined to rate books higher for a number of reasons, but i’m trying to be more honest in my ratings. i think the majority of my books land in the 4-5 star range (gr says my average is 3.94), and part of it is just that i know what types of books i like and so i seek out more books that i know i’ll enjoy.
i’ve also noticed that when i rate a book immediately after finishing it, i’m more inclined to rate it higher, and then with some thought + a chance to process, that my five star rating might not actually be a five star rating. my opinions on books do change with more thought, and sometimes i do update that in my goodreads and sometimes i do not because i just forget to! or sometimes i’ll be discussing a book with a friend, and i’ll realize that things that bothered me about a book bothered me more than i thought i did, and i’ll change my rating!
basically, my goodreads rating is technically a mix between how the book made me feel and how well-written i think it is, but fluctuates constantly & isn’t necessarily the best way to figure out how i feel about a book! i also do have a hard time choosing between whether to round up or down a book, but writing reviews is an easy way for me to figure out my true thoughts.
i know i really rambled about books + ratings, but i hope that helps a little bit! happy to chat more about goodreads / books / ratings / etc! 🤍

How Forex Trading Platform Reviews can Help you in Selecting the Right Broker For You?
Forex trading is the method of trading one currency for another, also considered as buying or selling of currency pairs, based on widespread exchange rates from the forex market. The forex market is the biggest international market, trading nearly $6.59 trillion on average per day.
When it comes to exchanging foreign currency, you employ a forex broker, also recognized as a currency trading broker, to position your exchanges. When you exchange forex, you buy or sell in currency pairs, e.g. "EUR / USD" (Euro / U.S. Dollar). You activate an account, deposit funds, then employ the broker's trading platform to buy and sell currency employing margin. The forex markets are open and active 24 hours a day, five days a week.
As beginners, we recommend you choose the best brokers by seeing the reviews of each. We’ll tell you what is required to take notice of if you’re double-checking the reviews and comments of brokers:
 ●       The organization type: is it a broker or a dealer? What’s the capitalization of the organization?
●       Trading platform(s) offered: whether the platforms the company is offering are prominent, well- or little known; are they credible, what are the hitches?
●       Categories of trading accounts. Are there accounts for vendors with numerous levels of mastery, the proportion of investment, and trading priorities?
●       Fee and commission structures: additional costs a vendor has to spend.
●       What type of bonuses and publicity does the firm offer?
●       Company’s ideals regarding leverage and margin calls.
●       Customer support: is it valid, productive, and accessible at any time when you might need assistance?
●       Regulation: Which license(s) does the firm have, at which jurisdictions were they handed out?
Each of these points is critically significant. Make sure you know the answers before you start up on any broker. The reviews and comments of the people on different sites can help you provide the answers to these and decide on one reputable firm.
Additional Parameters for Choosing the Best Forex Broker
 Account Minimums
If you want to deposit the minimum.of your capital, you can. Some brokerages offer rock-bottom account minimum deposits. You don’t have to deposit high capital anymore, to trade Forex. What you need to do is search for the broker that offers the minimum deposits.
 Promotions
Online brokers will try to offer fame to your business by proposing promotions. Cash and prizes are all part of the game.
 Education
The educational services your broker provides will benefit your proficiency in the Forex market.  Most vendors offer a variety of educational equipment to boost a trader’s assessment of the Forex market. Choose a broker that offers such services so you can gain more profits with better learning.
Why Do You Need a Forex broker?
If you’re wondering why you need a forex broker, here’s the answer. You might assume that you can effortlessly manage this type of contract by yourself. But speculate the fact that to make any kind of profit on a Forex transaction, you have to trade thousands, tens of thousands, and even hundreds of thousands of currency battalions.
That confuses things a little, doesn’t it?
Now to that, put in the fact that the Foreign Exchange market glimpses over $4 trillion worth of currency difference hands every day. It would be difficult for any particular vendor to find a buyer/seller at a decent price among all that disturbance.
And that’s where the Forex Broker comes in.the spotlight.
Not only do Forex brokers organize the trade, but they can also leverage your exchange so you don’t have to plop all your savings into one Forex undertaking, and do it for a much smaller fee than, for example, a bank.
How much risk you can handle
The only one who can recognize your risk enthusiasm is none other than you. Since elevated leverage arrives at an increased risk, but can also direct to much enormous profits, it is completely up to you to confirm the leverage ratio that conforms to the risk level you are after. If you are inclined and eligible to stake more then go for brokers giving high leverage ratios, while if your risk appetite is lesser, then seek brokers offering lower leverage too.
Most Famous Brokers that You can Investigate on:
The most famous brokers that you can invest in are listed down below. However, you can and should investigate them before you start trading. Here are the five famous brokers of 2021 that you can look up to:
●       TD Ameritrade - Best overall, best for beginners.
●       Fidelity - Best for everyday investors.
●       Charles Schwab - Best IRA accounts.
●       Interactive Brokers - Best for professionals.
●       E*TRADE - Best web trading platform
Other than these top brokers, there are some others that you can look up:
●       Firstrade
●       Ally Invest
●       Trade Station
●       Webull
●       Robinhood
 Steps to Trade in Forex
To make your first forex trade, you need to follow the following steps:
●       Select a currency pair - Choose a pair that you want to exchange. Exchanging pairs means you’ll always have to buy a currency while selling another one.
●       Analyze the market - Research the market and analyze the charts, monitor the news, and analyze the market.
●       Read the quote - You’ll find the two prices. Selling price and buying price.
●       Pick your position - You can speculate up and down movements in the market.
The Bottom Line
No matter where you reside, getting started as a retail forex trader is fairly susceptible if you have some risk capital, but exchanging currencies successfully expects broadly more than that. You’ll need to formulate substantial market knowledge, an achievable trading strategy, the discipline to stick to your strategy, the emotional resilience to bounce back from losing trades, and lastly yet importantly, choosing a reliable and reputable forex broker.
If you meet these requirements, then you have an adequate chance of being productive as a forex trader. If you don’t, then you can still contribute by activating a demo account at an online broker that benefits social trading and copying a prosperous trader’s transactions.

Off topic subject/ I think I know when Jotaro Kujo’s Birth date is!
Ok so most of us know that Jotaro Kujo was born in either January 21st or February18th in the 1970′s. So I decided to look and see which month had the most children. That led me nowhere since they both had a 2.14% result. Then I got to thinking, “Economy usually plays a part in having a family. Lets look at that.” So I looked up  `1970 January Japanese Economy History’ and   ‘1970 February Japanese Economy History’ so now I will paste what I found On wikipedia!  (1970 January Japanese Economy History)  *from Wikipeada*   The Japanese economic miracle is known as Japan's record period of economic growth between the post-World War II era to the end of the Cold War. During the economic boom, Japan rapidly became the world's second largest economy (after the United States). By the 1990s, Japan's demographics began stagnating and the workforce was no longer expanding as it did in the previous decades, despite per-worker productivity remaining high. ^^^^^^So this sounds like things went from good to bad real quick. Not really a good time to have a child. But still possible.^^^^^ (1970 February Japanese Economy History)  *From wikipeida*  Throughout the 1970s, Japan had the world's third largest gross national product (GNP)—just behind the United States and Soviet Union—and ranked first among major industrial nations in 1990 in per capita GNP at US$23,801, up sharply from US$9,068 in 1980. After a mild economic slump in the mid-1980s, Japan's economy began a period of expansion in 1986 that continued until it again entered a recessionary period in 1992. Economic growth averaging 5% between 1987 and 1989 revived industries, such as steel and construction, which had been relatively dormant in the mid-1980s, and brought record salaries and employment. In 1992, however, Japan's real GNP growth slowed to 1.7%. Even industries such as automobiles and electronics that had experienced phenomenal growth in the 1980s entered a recessionary period in 1992. The domestic market for Japanese automobiles shrank at the same time that Japan's share of the United States' market declined. Foreign and domestic demand for Japanese electronics also declined, and Japan seemed on the way to losing its leadership in the world semiconductor market to the United States, Korea and Taiwan.Unlike the economic booms of the 1960s and 1970s, when increasing exports played the key role in economic expansion, domestic demand propelled the Japanese economy in the late 1980s. This development involved fundamental economic restructuring, moving from dependence on exports to reliance on domestic demand. The boom that started in 1986 was generated by the decisions of companies to increase private plant and equipment spending and of consumers to go on a buying spree. Japan's imports grew at a faster rate than exports. Japanese post-war technological research was carried out for the sake of economic growth rather than military development. The growth in high-technology industries in the 1980s resulted from heightened domestic demand for high-technology products such as electronics, and for higher living, housing, and environmental standards; better medical care and more welfare; expanded leisure-time facilities; and improved ways to accommodate a rapidly aging society.[72]During the 1980s, the Japanese economy shifted its emphasis from primary and secondary activities (notably agriculture, manufacturing, and mining) to processing, with telecommunications and computers becoming increasingly vital. Information became an important resource and product, central to wealth and power. The rise of an information-based economy was led by major research in highly sophisticated technology, such as advanced computers. The selling and use of information became very beneficial to the economy. Tokyo became a major financial center, home to some of the world's major banks, financial firms, insurance companies, and the world's largest stock exchange, the Tokyo Securities and Stock Exchange. Even here, however, the recession took its toll. In 1992, the Nikkei 225 stock average began the year at 23,000 points, but fell to 14,000 points in mid-August before leveling off at 17,000 by the end of the year.Since the end of the Cold War[edit]1989 Economic Bubble[edit]Further information: Japanese asset price bubbleIn the decades following World War II, Japan implemented stringent tariffs and policies to encourage the people to save their income. With more money in banks, loans and credit became easier to obtain, and with Japan running large trade surpluses, the yen appreciated against foreign currencies. This allowed local companies to invest in capital resources more easily than their overseas competitors, which reduced the price of Japanese-made goods and widened the trade surplus further. And, with the yen appreciating, financial assets became lucrative. With so much money readily available for investment, speculation was inevitable, particularly in the Tokyo Stock Exchange and the real estate market. The Nikkei stock index hit its all-time high on 29 December 1989 when it reached an intra-day high of 38,957.44 before closing at 38,915.87. The rates for housing, stocks, and bonds rose so much that at one point the government issued 100-year bonds. Additionally, banks granted increasingly risky loans. At the height of the bubble, real estate was extremely over-valued. Prices were highest in Tokyo's Ginza district in 1989, with choice properties fetching over US$1.5 million per square meter ($139,000 per square foot). Prices were only slightly less in other areas of Tokyo. By 2004, prime "A" property in Tokyo's financial districts had slumped and Tokyo's residential homes were a fraction of their peak, but still managed to be listed as the most expensive real estate in the world. Trillions were wiped out with the combined collapse of the Tokyo stock and real estate markets. With Japan's economy driven by its high rates of reinvestment, this crash hit particularly hard. Investments were increasingly directed out of the country, and Japanese manufacturing firms lost some degree of their technological edge. As Japanese products became less competitive overseas, some people argue that the low consumption rate began to bear on the economy, causing a deflationary spiral. The easily obtainable credit that had helped create and engorge the real-estate bubble continued to be a problem for several years to come, and as late as 1997, banks were still making loans that had a low guarantee of being repaid. Loan Officers and Investment staff had a hard time finding anything to invest in that would return a profit. Meanwhile, the extremely low interest rate offered for deposits, such as 0.1%, meant that ordinary Japanese savers were just as inclined to put their money under their beds as they were to put it in savings accounts. Correcting the credit problem became even more difficult as the government began to subsidize failing banks and businesses, creating many so-called "zombie businesses". Eventually a carry trade developed in which money was borrowed from Japan, invested for returns elsewhere and then the Japanese were paid back, with a nice profit for the trader. The time after the bubble's collapse (崩壊, hōkai), which occurred gradually rather than catastrophically, is known as the "lost decade or end of the 20th century" (失われた10年, ushinawareta jūnen) in Japan. The Nikkei 225 stock index eventually bottomed out at 7603.76 in April 2003, moved upward to a new peak of 18,138 in June 2007, before resuming a downward trend. The downward movement in the Nikkei is likely due to global as well as national economic problems.  ^^^This is the worst time to have a kid.^^^^^  And with this info, I’ve come to a conclusion *or rather an assumption* That Jotaro Kujo’s Birth date is January 21st 1970.  Why you ask? Because The Japanese economic miracle. It states that it is “ known as Japan's record period of economic growth between the post-World War II era to the end of the Cold War.” And I may not know a lot about solders but I do have a grandpa that was one and he told me that after the war was when most babies were born. So that’s one fact/assumption. the other is when the artical states “During the economic boom, Japan rapidly became the world's second largest economy (after the United States). By the 1990s, Japan's demographics began stagnating and the workforce was no longer expanding as it did in the previous decades, despite per-worker productivity remaining high.”  what I take from that is people who are good at their work or travel for their work get paid more *like Jotaro’s dad* So Holly would be able to take care of her new born baby while her husband is away earning the cash. But I could be talking out my ass on this.  All this is just an assumption. A guess. A theory. make of it what you will.  Author chan OUT!

What is the Mass Healing word in dnd 5e?
Mass Healing Word 5e:
As you call out words of restoration, up to six animals of your choice, which you can see within range, recover Hit Points equal to 1d4 + your Spellcasting Skill modifier. This spell does not affect Undead or Constructs.
At Higher Levels: When you cast this spell utilizing a spell slot of 4th or higher, the Healing raises by 1d4 for every slot degree over 3rd.
What are the attributes of 5e Mass Healing Word?
Three evocation
Casting Time: 1 bonus action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V
Duration: Instantaneous
Classes: Cleric

How do you compare prayer of healing 5e vs. mass cure wounds?
You can’t use Prayer of Healing in combat, while Mass Healing Word 5e can stop a total party kill if several party members hit 0 HP. The main distinction other than hit points treated is that prayer of Healing has a 10 minute casting time. In comparison, the mass recovery word has a bonus activity casting time.  Play Now
5e Aid vs. Mass Healing Word
Pretty self-explanatory from the title. The Aid 5e spell, in the 3rd level, is a flat +10 current and max hp boost.
I typically have many things happening at once, so long as I’ve had the time to establish how I perform clerics. Suppose I am the storm, which I usually am. In that case, I will have telephone lightning heading (or gust of breeze when we are inside ). And worrying about sacrificing my focus on the throw beacon takes away from what I view as my primary purpose, which is crowd control.
For those times, I am not a tempest cleric. Spirit guardians are my go-to for massive CC; throw into a religious weapon for right action, along with my presence in battle, is felt reasonably hard. I can not stress my celebration is rolling low on a d4, potentially only curing six wellness.
The only real downside I can see to picking Aid 5e over Mass Healing Word 5e is that you can aim half as many folks with it. However, the maximum hp growth lasts for 8 hours, requiring no concentration. It is a watered-down version of mass treatment wounds considering 10hp is the average for a 1st level cast of treatment wounds—15hp at 4th level, 20hp at 5th, etc.
Ideas? I play clerics a whole lot but have only recently gotten on board the Assist train.

5e Blessed healer and Mass Healing Word 5e   Play Now
You will get the Healing for your personality just once with each throw of Mass Healing Word. The wording in 5e is quite explicit:
When you throw a 1st degree or more significant spell, which restores hit points into a monster other than you, you regain hit points equal to 2 + the spell’s level.
What are the 12 best healing spells in dnd 5e?
The list of spells that can cure is very narrow. In reality, I hardly had enough to create this record! However, I rated these 12 spells together with all the following criteria in mind:
That not only contains how many hit points you return but also the number of goals you may choose to heal with this. If two spells can heal for 1d8; however, one has six goals, it is a pretty clear winner usually.
Spells that spend higher spell slots means that you’re generally losing out on other, more significant spells. If you’re able only to throw a single 8th level spell every day, is this recovery charm worth it versus a weaker spell in a higher slot?
Some recovery charms grant additional bonuses, such as treating diseases, regenerating limbs, or giving temporary hit points. All of these factors matter when some spells only heal.
12 best dnd Healing spells:
Healing Word
Everybody's very first healing charm! As a 1st level spell, it won’t be winning any awards anytime soon. However, it does its job nicely. 1d4 plus your Spellcasting Modifier adds another d4 of Healing. Every single spell slot beyond the 1st is fairly on-par for most charms this early in the match. It gets outclassed as the character grows into more advanced magic.
Mass Healing Word 5e
Source: Player’s Handbook, p.258. One of the first party-wide Healing spells available to Clerics (and only Clerics), Volume Recovery Word doesn’t offer much with only 1d4+ Spellcasting Modifier for up to six goals. And as a 3rd level spell, it’s a pretty hard sell to utilize this over other choices at this level.
Healing Spirit 5e
Source: Xanathar’s Guide to Everything p. 157. A fantastic addition from Xanathar, Healing Spirit, lets you make a tiny moving spirit that heals creatures that pass through it. Or start their turn in precisely the same spot as it for 1d6. It is a flexible spell that lasts for a full moment with concentration. And since it’s a bonus action, you can still cast a cantrip as your routine actions. If you’ve got a Druid or Ranger in your party, it will not hurt to pick up this spell when available.
Cure Wounds 5e
Source: Player’s Handbook, p.230.Remember that time we dissed Healing Word? Cure Wounds is a spell of the same level and may double the Healing (1d8 vs. 1d4). Cure
Wounds 5e’ downside is a Touch spell, meaning the caster can’t be quite distant from his celebration. That is not too terrible of a drawback, though, since this spell is available to beefier courses, for example, Paladins, Rangers, and Druids, who are more inclined to be on the front line. That allows your Bards and Clerics to hang back and save their charm slots for more excellent choices.
Prayer of Healing 5e
Source: Player’s Handbook, p.267.Prayer of Healing is one of the first “big” healing spells. Clerics have access to, as another level spell. It is a pretty great heal (out of combat that’s ) that allows you to cure up to six targets for 2d8+your modifier. Plus, as you spend spell slots over the 2nd level, you get an additional d8, allowing the charms to scale pretty well into the subsequent levels. One of the big draws against it’s the very long cast time. Ten minutes makes it unusable in combat.
Aura of Vitality 5e
Source: Player’s Handbook, p. 216. This little number provides two of the crucial criteria for a good healing spell: Range, as well as foliage. Any target within 30 feet can find a 2d6 heal as a bonus action, which means a lot since this is a Paladin-only spell. You may have to keep concentration for the duration of the spell (which, let’s be fair, should be relatively straightforward as a Paladin). However, the flexibility and power of the spell are pretty excellent.
Hero’s Feast 5e
Another weird spell is a healing spell, Hero’s Feast. It allows you to summon a making of delicious food for your party that takes an hour to complete. (twelve individuals signifies your DM is most likely yelling after every session). After that hour passes, all participants get 2d10 temporary hit points and heal the same quantity. Hero’s Feast 5e is not a spell you will ever cast in combat (it takes ten minutes to throw it, not to mention that the hour-long Feast). Nonetheless, it offers a beautiful enthusiast to your party before some huge dramatic fight.
 Vampiric Touch 5e
A draining lifestyle does heal you. So this charm makes a list on technicality! Once you connect with this, you get to cope with 3d6 damage and cure for half that sum. Plus, you can make this action over and above for a full minute if it’s possible to maintain concentration in the melee range. The biggest drawback of the Vampiric touch 5e spell is that the range.
Power Word Heal 5e
Source: Player’s Handbook, p. 266. The most powerful healing spell that D&D offers, Power Word Heal, enables you to heal a target for maximum hit points. And of course, it also removes charmed, frightened, paralyzed, or stunned conditions from the target. So it is pretty rare that this charm helps in any campaign.
Heal 5e
A single target has to cure 70 hit points with no rolls required, only the 6th level spell slot invested in throwing it. As a bonus, it also ends blindness, deafness, and any diseases affecting the goal. It is hard to argue with results like these.
Mass Cure Wounds 5e
The midfield alternative for curing your party, Volume Heal Wounds, provides a reasonably good cure (3d8+ Spellcasting Modifier) for up to six goals, with no casting time! It’s an excellent spell for Bards, Clerics, and Druids that can cast 5th level spells. No casting period, no expensive components, a relatively wide range, and a moderate heel make this among the most significant Healing spells out there.
Regenerate 5e
Source: Player’s Handbook, p.271.In my opinion, the most potent healing spell available in 5th Edition needs to be this one. Regenerate not only enables you to cure for 4d8+15. But the goal also regrows or re-attaches any limbs which were severed (not counting heads, that is an entirely different spell).
On top of this sizable up-front heal, the goal also heals ten hit points every minute. It is for an hour-long duration, for another 60 points healed on top of the initial roll. Bards, Clerics, and Druids have access to this Seventh-degree spell, so any party should get this in time.  Play Now
What is Mass Heal 5e?
A flood of Repairing energy flows from you into hurt creatures around you. You reestablish up to 700 Strike Points, divided as you choose among any number of animals you can see within range. Creatures healed by this spell will also be cured of all Diseases and some other Effect, making them Blinded or Deafened. This charm has no Effect on Undead or Constructs.
What are the attributes of Mass Heal 5e?
The attributes of 5e Mass heal are as follows:
9 TH evocation
Casting Time: 1 action
Range: 60 feet
Components: V S
Duration: Instantaneous
Classes: Cleric
A flood of healing energy flows out of you into hurt creatures around you. The creature healed by this spell gets cured of all diseases and any impact that makes them blinded or deafened.

Aura of Vitality 5e vs. Mass Healing Word 5e
Mass Healing Word is just better than Healing Word if more than 1 PC is down concurrently. That is pretty dire. Depending on your DM and the experience, it’s probably more likely one of those PCs is lifeless. It seems like you need to have run away two rounds ago.
Multiple party members moving down at the same round is rare. Aov has far more curative power over time than MHW (you’re able to keep bonus action-ing it on individuals after the battle ends).
I’d go Aura of Vitality 100% every time.
Cure Wounds is also a bard spell, so if you’ve got that and two go down precisely the same round, you could always Heal Wounds one and AoV another. You’ll lose your principal actions, unlike MHW, however, in that rare situation. It’s well worth it, and also, for the other 99% of adventuring, AoV will give you a lot more bang for your healing buck.

Welcome, Lucent “Lucky” Lachlan to Tabula Rasa, He kind of looks a lot like Domhnall Gleeson please submit your character account within 24hrs
OUT OF CHARACTER NAME/NICKNAME/ALIAS: Slowner
AGE: 24
TIMEZONE: PST.
EXPERIENCE: Too damn long. 11-12 years. Started roughly when I was 11, writing my own stories and miniature novels. That progressed into literature based roleplays by the time I was 13.
IN CHARACTER CHARACTER NAME: Lucent “Lucky” Lachlan - His name directly translates into “Glowing”, “Radiant” and “Dauntless” in three separate languages, Spanish, Italian(Luciento) and Latin (Lucentine).
CHARACTER AGE: Roughly 26, doesn’t actually know his exact age due to being orphaned before any legal paperwork had been filed on him.
FACECLAIM: Domhnall Gleeson
GENDER: He’s a male.
SPECIES: They are a hybrid between a supernatural male being and a human female.
SUBSPECIES: Leprechaun
TRAITS: +++ Lucky, + Economically Inclined, + Efficient — Cocky, -Cheeky, -Coy (yes; those are all synonyms, no; you can’t complain.)
SKILL SETS: Lucent’s Luck is supernaturally modified by his Leprechaun heritage. Despite being a hybrid, most of Lucent’s biology and genetics were gained from his father - Resulting in a fairly potent and consistent stream of “Jackpot” style luck being present in Lucky’s life. These occurences are what ultimately earned him his monicre. Much like Domino from Marvel, Lucky’s luck is much more versatile than one would be lead to believe at surface level. In a practical sense, Lucent’s luck can provide a tangible and realistic field of awareness around him. Like a sphere of aura or energy, Lucky supernaturally and subconsciously affects reality to tilt the outcomes of events in his favor. From things as simple as rolling the right dice to something as elaborate as allowing one of his guards to be positioned in the perfect spot to cover his own blindspots. To be clear - A leprechaun’s luck affects observable reality to skew the chances of something happening or not happening. It affects people, places, things and thoughts on a nearly impossible to perceive level. Only someone who spends a lengthy and recurring amount of time in close vicinity to Lucky would begin to slowly begin to grow suspicious of how the man always seems to come out on top of any situation. Its uncanny and unsettling to some, but the ultimate ace up your sleeve to others.
Examples of “Luck” affecting outcomes: -Lucky is accosted by an aggressor, who mis-identifies him almost immediately as someone else, or said aggressor simply would trip over a crack in the pavement and fall flat on their face unconscious. -Lucky walks into a car lot and is told he is the 10,000 customer and is granted a free car. -In a fight, Luck is enough to see that Lucent dodges an attack completely or is able to misplace a normally fatal attack to a non-fatal area. A punch from Lucky, while being a punch from a biological human - Is packed with the physical manifestation of his ‘Jackpot’ - meaning if he hasn’t used his luck it becomes stronger. Since Lucent is not aware of himself being a Leprechaun, he wouldn’t be able to actively use or NOT USE his powers; Resulting in his luck averaging out to be noteably higher than other supernatural beings, but not high enough to garner Lucky any interest in most people’s eyes.
*His luck isn’t a slight tilt of the pinball machine, It turns the damn thing upside down.*
QUOTE/LYRICS: Personal: “Feelin’ lucky?” Philosophical: “Live for the moment lest you lose it forever.”
WRITING SAMPLE CHARACTER BACKGROUND: (I add bits of his background into the actual IC writing sample at the end of this app. I will mainly focus on the ideas and themes prevalent in his background in this section as we have discussed a lot about Lucky in person already.)
*Lucky was orphaned as a child. This results in him having severe trust issues, to constantly suspect people of betraying or abandoning him and generally results in his intolerant nature. If you can think of a young, impulsive irishman that is willing to headbut his way through things, that’s lucky in a nutshell. Hailing from Ireland, this is only further exasperating his short temper and spitfirey nature. He is mildly alcoholic and drinks as a coping mechanism for his depression and anxiety. He started drinking at 14. His mother left him on the steps of a wealthy businessman and politician’s estate. This decision ends up playing out amazingly in Lucent’s favor. At the age of 20 his adoptive parents pass away peacefully of old age and leave everything in their estate and portfolios to their son. Within 6 years Lucent would establish himself in the eyes of the public as a successful businessman and philanthropist. His casinos are widely considered the best around the globe and his name is often touted about in circles of celebrities and other high profile types. It stands reason that anyone with a gambling background would know of Lucky when he arrives. His opening ceremonies generate a rather large buzz, including celebrity style red carpet treatment and a “quality higher than anywhere else” guarantee. All of his employees seem happy and well paid. At least half of his success can be directly attributed to his supernatural luck, though it is worth noting that the man himself is also incredibly adept at getting what he wants from others.
CHARACTER BIOGRAPHY: Lucky is a half-leprechaun half-human hybrid. This means that he naturally retains the tenacity and adaptability of humanity as well as the deeply invested cultural beliefs and respects of an irish leprechaun. Honesty, loyalty and respect are what dictate his relationships and interactions with others. If people prove civil and abide by Lucent’s prestigious establishment’s rules then he generally is a kind and agreeable man.
However, Lucky is also a man with little to no patience for upsets to his perceived norm. People that stand out or rebel against his jurisdictions often get to meet the unpleasant side of him, a side that is fully aware of how deep the influence of his economical and societal status has. One might assume him a 'control freak’ on a surface level, but in reality Lucent simply has a plan in mind for how he wants things to go and gets frustrated when that plan is willfully ignored by others. As long as they do what is expected of their station or position, Lucent often lets his employees operate at a casual and comfortable pace - believing it instills a healthy work ethic and loyalty among his employees which shows to be effective as there have never been any scandals or secrets revealed about him or his organization.
Lucky runs a chain of Casinos with locations in popular tourist sites - His most recent endeavor has chosen Tabula Rasa as it’s destination. Lucky aims to bring the full experience of one of his casinos to the sanctioned city of Tabula Rasa. Why did he choose a city with unique political ties and perhaps abstinations due to it’s sovereignty? That much is simple - Lucky sees it as a ripe opportunity to perform two tasks simultaneously.
ONE: Open a casino in a predominantly supernatural economy, see how much money he can squeeze out of the 400-500 year old vampires with long lasting economic ties ;D or the werewolves that probably have drug money and fight ring money up the wazzooo. It’s a smart business decision.
Two: Lucky will have privatized cameras monitoring the internals of his casino. Potentially even some of the rentable rooms/suites. That’s right, Lucky may be planning to blackmail people if spicy shenanigans go down in his place of business. In addition to this, he has received contracts from several television companies wishing to get “an inside view” of the functionings of the supernatural city.
PARAGRAPH SAMPLE: Raindrops spattering against the blacktop, falling like tears from the very sky itself as a cradle lay at the foot of a door; mewling and balling - crying out into the cold, dark, unloving world. A child was orphaned that night, left alone without a mother or father by a woman weeping as she fled her shame. The shackles of guilt too much for her to bear she only hoped she could replace with the comfort of knowing she had picked a good home for her son. She didn’t look back, didn’t turn to have one last look at her child; for she knew that if she had, she would’ve ran back to him sobbing and begging for his forgiveness.
Or at least that’s how he liked to think it went. Cubes of ice stacked in fours clattered as they were swirled about in the glass clasped gingerly between his thumb, index and middle fingers. The next moment he banished the thought beneath a torrent of whiskey - hoping it was possible to drink oneself into amnesia, this was the typical Friday for the hotheaded irishman. His two-piece suit clung to his body, fitted perfectly to a pristine and refined crisp. Every crease was pressed that morning, both shoes polished independently. This man was dressed far too well to be muckraking at a bar, yet there he sat clanking his glass for another round.
“Again?” Called the bearded man from behind the bar, “That’s your twelfth in under 20. Trying to drown, buddy?”
“No ser, Just tryin’ not te’ think.” He raised his glass with as little effort as humanly possible before setting it back down. It would be then that the man did what every bartender did when serving him, They tried to cut him off. A large hand closed ontop of his glass and slid it from his hand.
“Well you’ll have to go not think somewhere else, you’re disturbing my business.”
“Disturbi- Oh… right.” The red headed male looked to his sides at the barstools full of his entourage; roughly six armed men dressed in deep black suits with verdant green ties and .45’s in their holsters. “Apologies, We’ll just make our leave then.”
And so they did, the seven irishmen stepped out from that establishment and would set out to their true destination - an establishment of their own. A right irish diamond here in the land of the affluent and esteemed. Gone would be the days of hoity toity bars with expectations and back would be the glorious days of pub crawls, brawls and throwing up in every bathroom stall from here to the piers! Though one thought kept rearing it damnable face in the recesses of his mind. And the words that haunted him were spoken in the voice he imagined for her.
“Nothing you do will ever be good enough. No matter how much you achieve, how far you go. You’ll always be undeserving of a mother’s love. Yer a right bastard ye know? Not even I wanted you.” The glass of a mirror in his suite would shatter later that night in response and within the fragments of glass he finally felt like he could see his true self; And he was a broken, bloody, mess of a man.“

character quirks!
originally this was going to be a list of passive and active character quirks (ex. passive = loves history but knows nothing about it, active = well, everything on this list), but once i started it, i realized that’s not how it works?? all of your quirks and hobbies and loves and hates leave stains on your personality, even in the tiniest ways. so here’s a list of quirks that actively change your character, with simple explanations! and please remember, this is strictly for characters. it is, in one way or another, based in stereotype! and humans aren’t built around stereotype, you are not built around stereotype.
i don’t write about what I don’t know about, so almost all of this is taken directly from my own self or someone i know :]
only likes cold pizza/raw bagels/the off-brand version of a popular food - can indicate this character is a particular, detail-oriented person, and typically this type of person is not snobbish, but they are stubborn (if you’re looking for something similar to indicate the person is snobbish: they refuse to eat leftovers, wipe grease off their food, shuns fast-food restaurants)
homeschooled/grew up homeschooled - coming directly from a homeschooler, we get a bad rep! not all homeschoolers are antisocial, extremely religious or have old-fashioned views on society. that being said, homeschoolers tend to act more like their parents and siblings than other kids do, and that’s where those stereotypes tend to stem from. while many homeschoolers are very sociable, it’s common for them to still be more reserved and a little more socially inept than other kids, just from lack of practice. homeschoolers also tend have a strong sense of loneliness, even if they have lots of friends/have graduated, that feeling will stick.
walks along the curb of the street, swinging one foot in front of the other - turning something as minuscule as walking along the side of a road into a silent game shows that they are in their mind a lot, they live in their imaginations. showing them walking normally can indicate that something’s wrong. traits that match with this quirk but aren’t necessary: quiet, optimistic
hates wearing hats/skirts/tights/etc. - a person that hates hats/skirts/tights/whatever is very much comfort before fashion. they’ll tend to not wear fully matching or fitting clothing and this can stem from a fear of change. if someone who openly dislikes wearing hats comes into the room in a beret, it’s change (yes, it can be as small as that. trust me, it took me 2 years to work up the courage to wear a non-formal dress in front of my family.)
always tapping their foot/bobbing their head/patting their leg - this means someone is more musically inclined than others, and it’s almost always subconscious. they probably play multiple instruments, and come from a family of musicians/music-lovers. close friends/family might make fun of them for dancing all the time, or someone might get frustrated when they won’t stop doing it during a serious moment
zones out easily/can stare at nothing for hours - similar to the person walking on the curb, a character that tends to zone out on nothing for long periods of time is probably daydreaming about the other lives they could lead. they might feel like they’re stuck with the hand they got dealt in life. when things go wrong, they’ll probably get as far away from every person as possible and fantasize about running away and starting it all over. they don’t have to be loners, but they’ll typically feel isolated and different from their friends, maybe not as invested in their friendship as the other person is.
having stuffed animals - a character, especially outside of young childhood, having stuffed animals can be a sign of their loneliness, the manufactured hug of a friend or soft fur of a pet when they don’t have the real thing nearby. a character with stuffed animals might be more empathetic and sensitive than others, getting upset if someone makes fun of them for it or holding extra tight onto one that fell or got damaged somehow. they also might have childlike fears or simply be more fearful than most, and the stuffed animals might be a sanctuary for them
draws slight attention to themselves in public (listens to music without earbuds, does things that could be done inside [painting, reading, stuff like that] outside, asks a stranger a question to prove their point in a conversation, wears bold clothes, talks loudly, etc.) - while it’s possible for these to just be seen as obnoxious/extroverted quirks, on a deeper level they can imply the character wants something to happen. they want to be seen by strangers. maybe they consume a lot of entertainment (books, tv, movies) and they subconsciously set up their life to be met with question, then a greeting, then a friendship, constantly giving “The One” a chance to appear.
hates jewelry - fear of being trapped. a necklace feels like being choked, a bracelet feels like being chained down, a ring feels like circulation is cut off, but also take it in a figurative way. by accepting the jewelry, an expensive gift, they’re accepting that someone cares about them/they’re accepting that they have to wear it enough to make up for the cost. it sounds dumb i know but i can tell you from experience this is a very real thing
puts off work to the last second/procrastinates - i’ve really grown to hate that word. they grew up smart, or with an easy workload, and now they refuse to adjust to the updated workload. this one is short but there’s about a million posts on procrastination, and i’m sure there’s a more in-depth one than i could ever do! some ideas for prompts for this quirk is running out of time on something important, someone getting mad at the character for leaving the work until the last minute when they need them, being overworked, having a stress-induced meltdown and a love interest/forming friendship offers to help
goes through phases rapidly - based on what kind of phases they are, this could show unrest at home for a secondary character. one day they go to MC’s house wearing florals smelling like fabric softener, soft rock music wafting through the air from their cheap earbuds. they’re making clever jokes and urging MC to go on a walk in nature with them. next week, they show up wearing a ragged, wrinkled black t-shirt and they have bags under their eyes, looking like they haven’t showered in five days. they’re being insensitive with their sarcastic cracks and impatient with MC’s reactions, maybe even admitting they didn’t know why they showed up in the first place. obviously that’s a dramatic juxtaposition, but just an idea.
a gentle vandal (carving their initials into old wood, drawing/writing in textbooks, letters to no one put in cheap bottles and thrown into the ocean, underlining passages in books, so on and so forth) - fear of being forgotten, a good romantic partner/close friend of this character would be someone who reminds them they’re not alone in the universe.
never paints their nails/does their hair/wears extravagant clothes - fear of being seen as “different,” doesn’t want to be noticed by people. probably was bullied when they were young, or they have a family with a Reputation™ to uphold
struggles to accept compliments - a character that struggles with compliments, and basically any positive attention on themselves, would have low self-esteem to begin with. they probably didn’t grow up being seen as “pretty,” or someone made them feel ugly when they were young, regardless of whether it was true or not (example: Cinderella)
tips restaurant employees/delivery people way above the average/gives big gifts for small celebrations - this could mean they grew up in a upper class/upper middle class household and feels guilty for it, or that they grew up in a lower class/working class household and know what it feels like not to get gifts/have extra money. either way, it can give you insight to a character’s past without too much exposition, just a simple line of dialogue after an action.
always has at least one band-aid on somewhere - this can show that a character is careless with themselves, or maybe that they have a very active mind and force their body to match it (running to write something down and tripping, getting excited about seeing something pretty to sketch in nature and getting scratched by thorns as they tried to reach it as fast as they could, etc.)
wears vintage clothes and/or watches old movies - in the most accurate sense, i think, a character who enjoys these types of things would likely have an old soul, they probably think life should be more exciting than it is, and they’re dissatisfied with the current state of humanity (this doesn’t mean that they have to have an old-fashioned mindset! i wear vintage clothes and one of my favorite movies is meet me in st. louis, but i’m still VERY glad we don’t live like they did. not everything that makes logical sense in life can be drawn together with a bow on top)
i hope this didn’t come off too preachy or anything? i mean, i don’t know shit, i just like writing and characters that make sense, and i feel like i see a lot of character flaw lists that are very.. generalized, and not everything works for every character! obviously you’re free to use any of these, but if you’d like to show me how you used them in your story i’d love to see it!!! feel free to message me any time!
