if you dont mind sharing, what are some of your favorite ska songs/bands?

I will admit I am not a huge band person I tend to be more of a "pick whatever random songs sound good" person, so I can't recommend any good bands. I also listen to Ska Punk, which is a subgenre of Ska... and Punk. So I am not a good authority on Ska songs to listen to I am just someone who is banned from being passed the aux cord...

But some of my favorite songs include:

Here's my disclaimer, though: I am not into music subcultures I just listen to whatever sounds good (and jazzy punk with horns sounds good), so I could be giving absolutely awful music recommendations that anyone who is especially into Ska (and more specifically Ska Punk) might find egregious. I personally just grab whatever song sounds good and add them to my forever long playlist.

Also the Jabberjaw (Running Underwater) song from Pain used for the Cartoon Network Boomerang Groovies is probably the reason I enjoy Ska punk so much, and it has been in my playlist for years now:

If nothing else in this list interests you, I require everyone by law to listen to Jabberjaw Running Under Water by pain and watch the Cartoon Network Boomerang Groovie video of it. I used to watch Boomerang a million times, and this was probably the only Groovie I really enjoyed watching and didn't go to the bathroom during.

do you eat mash potatoes in thanks giving? I feel like thar would be fez's favorite, maybe that would be the one thing kitty cooked for them, he learned the recipe and now he makes it every year.

and for lexi I think she would be one of those people that get really stressed during this holiday, trying to cook and keep everyone happy. I can see her being a perfectionist when it comes to the whole meal, but maybe a good stuffing and the perfect turkey for lexi. not me choosing the easiest bc I don't know what other dishes are served

After everyone had finally gotten on ground from the mission, went back to their respective homes and cleaned off, Maverick invited everyone to a backyard BBQ to relax before the later night celebrations at Hard Deck. He sent out a group text to the team if they were bringing anyone, but making it known that this was a small affair. His backyard wasn’t huge.

Some people replied they weren’t bringing anyone, but Maverick estimated that if he bought 25 total burgers and buns, they would not go to waste. The aviators he knew would go through at least 2 per person. He didn’t have much time to get side dishes, and he figured if people did bring food, he’d be happy to not cook for a few days.

“Maverick! Where do you want these?” Rooster asked, carrying two cases of beer as he made his way to the backyard. Maverick smiled, gesturing over with his hand to the cooler with ice that was off to the side. Rooster nodded, setting them down, but taking two and opening them for him and Maverick.

It was like Rooster broke the dam of people arriving, because it wasn’t a half an hour past that almost everyone had arrived. Penny and Amelia had arrived afterwards, followed by Coyote and Fanboy. Then Phoenix and Bob arrived.

“Is he trying to make a grand entrance or something?” Phoenix asked, sarcastically, as they noticed that Hangman was the only one missing from the party. Everyone was sitting or standing close to the grille where Maverick was cooking. Rooster rolled his eyes.

“I wouldn’t be surprised” Bob said, as everyone just chuckled.

Suddenly, they heard his voice, as well as someone else’s.

“Wait, did Hangman actually bring someone?” Rooster asked, looking over to Maverick who simply shrugged.

“Your savior is here!” Hangman shouted, when he entered the backyard. The group looked over to him, shocked as they saw holding a baby in a wrap on his front, with a cakecontainer in his arms. Then you stepped out next to him, looking a few months pregnant, holding the hands of two young twin boys. You shook your head at Jake’s expression.

“I’m so sorry we’re late. The twins didn’t want to cooperate” You said, before looking around at the people. “Where should we put the cake?”

Everyone still was shocked, jaws dropped and not moving, just staring at the couple.

“Mommy” one of the boys whined, twisting and squirming on your arm, wanting to run around the backyard. You looked down and shot him a glare.

“Stop that now or else I’ll take you home right now and leave you with a babysitter. You won’t be having any of that cake we made and you won’t be spending time with your dad and his friends” You said, in a light threatening tone, which instantly caused him to stop.

“Sorry, I’ll take the cake into the kitchen so it can be cool until we’re ready. Rooster, man the grille” Maverick said, the first to snap out of the surprise, handing the metal tongs to Rooster, before leading you into the house. You smiled, Jake following him into the kitchen as you took the boys over to the huddled group.

“Hi! I’m so sorry if we’re so surprised, but Jake never mentioned you…I’m Natasha, or Phoenix” Phoenix said, not in a jealous way but more curious. Chuckling, you nodded.

“Yes, don’t ask me why but he likes to keep his thoughts separate or something like that. I’m Y/N. Boys do you want to introduce yourself?” You said, knowing if they didn’t meet them now, the twins wouldn’t have any more patience. You looked at the boys awaiting.

“Hi I’m Tyler Seresin and I’m 4” Tyler said.

“Hi I’m Tommy Seresin and I’m 4” Tommy said. The group just looked at the boys with smiles.

“Alright, thank you boys. Now you can go play. Just stay in the backyard, don’t hurt yourself or someone else, and be polite” You said, as you let go of their hands and they all but took off running, chasing each other. You sighed, watching them for a second, before turning to the group with a smile.

“I’d give you a beer since it looks like you need it, but I’ll give you a chair instead. I’m Javy, or Coyote” Javy said, pulling over a lawn chair for you.

“Thank you. Those two are usually good, but when Jake’s around, there’s no controlling their energy” You said, sitting down.

“Oh god, mini Hangmen’s? I’m Bradley, or Rooster. ” Rooster said, as the group, including you, laughed. The rest of the team took this opportunity to introduce themselves quickly, shaking your hand.

“I’m so glad this next one is a girl, finally. Jake’s got Danny on him” You said, rubbing your belly, thinking about your baby growing inside.

“I mean, you on your way to getting a whole dagger team” Bob said.

“That’s the plan” Jake interrupted before you could say anything. You raised an eyebrow at him, but he kissed your lips softly, easing your anger.

“You plan on carrying some of these babies?” You replied when you broke your kiss. Jake, as well as the rest of the group laughed.

“Hi, I’m Pete Mitchell, but call me Maverick” Maverick said, introducing himself to you before he went back behind the grill.

“Thank you for inviting us, and I apologize for the delay. As I told the others, the twins are menaces when his dad’s around” You said.

“Just like his dad” Rooster joked, as everyone laughed except Jake, who just rolled his eyes with a smile.

“So, how long have you two been married?” Phoenix asked.

“The twins are 4, so 5 years? I got pregnant with them right after our honeymoon” You said.

“Right after Academy graduation. I’ve known and loved her my whole life” Jake said, with an adoring smile. You smiled back at him, watching him as he carried Danny and drank a beer.

“So, how did you manage to stay with Hangman? I mean, no offense” Natasha asked and you chuckled, thinking back on the memory.

“Oh it’s a funny story really” You said, giggling as you watched Jake’s face turn a bit red in embarassment.

“Is Hangman actually blushing?” Bob asked.

“Oh I really want to hear this” Rooster said, leaning forward in interest.

“I’ve known Jake my whole life. Our parents were close friends, and I could say he was my best friend. I didn’t like him like that though until my debutante ball” You said, as Jake rolled his eyes.

“I need another beer for this story” He said, reaching over to crack open another one.

“I love this story. You were such a romantic” You said, with a teasing smile.

“Were a romantic? Too bad you can’t get more pregnant” Jake replied with a smirk. You shook your head.

“Hangman a romantic?” Coyote asked, pushing for you to finish your story.

“Yes, he really wanted to be my date to the debutante ball, but Jake was a terrible dancer. So I said no” You said, shrugging your shoulders. “I wasn’t going to get my foot stepped on all night for so many hours, to be with Jake who was just my best friend. But Jake wouldn’t take no for an answer so he learned how to dance, made a huge scene in school, and then I said yes”

“What did he do?” Bob asked.

“Why are all the tables pushed to the side?” You asked, looking at the cafeteria with your friends, as you all entered for lunch. Everyone was looking at the same area, confused as you were. Then, out of the crowds, you saw Jake walking towards the middle with one of his friends off to the side of the empty circle, with a CD player. You looked surprised, wondering what was going on, as Jake was scanning the room, looking for someone before he locked eyes on you and smiled widely.

“Y/N Y/L/N, will you take me as your date, now that I can dance?” He said, before motioning to his friend to hit play and reaching his arm to you, as he walked over, pulling you into the middle of the empty cafeteria.

”Wow Hangman, I’m impressed” Maverick admitted, as the rest of the team nodded.

“I wasn’t letting anyone else be her date. She’s the love of my life. Absolutely perfect and I’d be an idiot to not do everything I could for her” Jake admitted, making your cheeks flush a bit. He shot you a wink, knowing later on what that comment would get him - albeit it was the truth and he would do anything to make you happy.

“That’s so romantic” Natasha all but cooed.

“I want to see this! Come on Hangman, show her you still got it” Fanboy said, and soon the whole group was encouraging him. Jake looked at you, visually asking if you would want to.

You gave a sigh, getting out of your chair as the group cheered.

“Penny can you hold Danny?” Jake asked, thinking she’d be the safest bet as she had a kid of herself.

“You don’t trust the rest of us, Hangman?” Rooster teased.

“Nope. Can you play Do You Love Me?” Jake asked, before taking your hand and guiding you a few steps away from the group so you two could dance.

He took you into his arms, gently holding you tightly, looking down into your eyes. You could always get lost staring into those eyes of his.

“Wow Hangman, you got moves!” Coyote cheered, as you two made your way back to the group. Jake kissed you, sitting in your chair, before bringing you to sit on his lap.

“I’m impressed” Rooster admitted, looking at the couple.

Bob and Gene's relationship is so important to me 😭

I could write actual essays about them, but their relationship, when it actually gets a bit of focus, is the sweetest, most endearing thing on planet earth. People who say they don't like each other have obviously not seen the show, because these two adore each other. Here are these two people who are so different, and usually don't understand each other, but always try to anyway. And despite their differences, they have some notable similarities they can bond over as well.

Especially when it comes to Bob. Even though Gene is way more eccentric and enthusiastic than he ever was (and is), he never puts down Gene for his interests and instead encourages them. And he's willing to give Gene some extra confidence whenever he needs it. One of my favorite examples is this exchange from the episode "Best Burger":

Gene saying he's always admired Bob gets. me. every. time!!!!! It's so clear by this scene how much Gene loves his dad, and just wants to do right by him! For anyone who says Gene was annoying or frustrating in this episode, I point to this scene--he was genuinely remorseful for getting distracted (which is very normal for a kid his age) and gave Bob a compliment that I'm sure he cherished despite the fact that he was crunched on time. Sure, Louise admires Bob as well, but would never outright say it like Gene, so I'm sure Bob has a soft spot for his son because of this moment. Also, I think it's so sweet how despite running out of time and being stressed, he still apologizes to Gene for snapping. There are a lot of layers to this scene, which is why it's one of my favorites.

Then, of course, there's Bob being the best Autism Dad in "The Laser-Inth", but I've already said so much about this episode:

He just wants to share his interests with Gene and is so sweet and understanding when Gene gets sensory overload 🥲

Oh yes, and then there's "Diarrhea of a Poopy Kid", where Bob says that he loves to feed Gene and him offering to eat with Gene once Gene gets all better 🥺:

Gene inheriting Bob's love of food is so sweet and lovely 😭 Also, I love how supportive Bob is of Gene's Thanksgiving song. And he saying that Gene was the only one excited about his new, experimental Thanksgiving menu--

Oh yes, and there was the episode where they got trapped on a trapeze, and Bob said he'd never let anything happen to Gene! They indeed have a beautiful relationship:

Bob is always there to calm Gene whenever he's feeling stressed, and I love it. He feels like Gene's rock, in a way, a shoulder he can always lean on whenever he needs it.

And that time they got excited about fixing Helen's sink!!! That was so adorable. Plus, it led to one of the best outros of the whole show:

Guess what? I'm not even done yet! One of my absolute favorite moments of them was in the episode "Boys Just Wanna Have Fungus", and at the end, they call each other their heroes. I mean 🥹

They admire each other so much! And I agree that they'd probably be able to survive at least a couple days in the Apocalypse together. It helps that Bob's a cook.

And more recently, there was the time Gene realized how terrible VR is, and despite his nausea, Bob stuck around the whole time:

He didn't have to stick around, he just wanted to, because he felt bad about Gene having a bad time. He would move heaven and earth for his son no matter what, and it's so beautiful to see.

I could list more examples, but I think you get the idea. Not only do Bob and Gene love each other, but they have one of the strongest and sweetest relationships in the series.

real love baby - j. s.

it's a sweet summer night. you and the dags have some time off, so natasha and you suggested a cute, little backyard barbecue. there's a playlist filling the space on the house speakers. bradley's flipping burgers because he's a natural at making them juuust the right amount of done and juicy too.

you're in the kitchen with natasha and bob, helping fix sides. you settled to work on the deviled eggs because you, too, are a natural. natasha's on potato salad and bob's cutting some fruit. mickey's just happy for some genuine fun in his life, but cannot be trusted near anything that's supposed to be edible, so he sits on a bar stool, elbows on the granite counter top, bobbing his head to the music while his girlfriend sits with him, just as content.

javy, reuben and jake are in the backyard, tossing a football around. javy's girlfriend scrolls through her phone, checking her boyfriend's butt out every so often.

you have a small window right above the sink, giving you a sweet view of jake. his sunglasses are still resting on his nose even though the sun's nearly gone, his hair is still as gelled as ever and his smile is a big contrast to his tan skin. everyone knows, except for him.

natasha places her hand on your wrist, stopping you from filling the halves with the mustard and mayo mixture. "something's gotta happen here soon, this is getting sad to watch." bob chuckled, your mouth fell open. "that made me sad!" you pouted. "only speaking facts honey.” she shrugged. “i just don’t know what to do. i want him to ask me out, but i am so frustrated that he's not picking up on a single thing i'm doing."

bob kept cutting the strawberries, "men are stupid. so are boys. but men are too. sometimes we just need a large sign that says, 'we like you dumbass.’” he smirked as you laughed.

"yeah, that might have to be it."

real love baby by father john misty comes on. the guitar cues you in, you had just finished filling the eggs. hearing this song makes you want to just float around, there's some type of magic in this tune. you give nat a knowing look and start moving.

our hearts are free, so tell me what's wrong with the feeling

you carry the egg tray outside to the table, the rhythm settling into your hips. bradley's singing into the spatula. javy and reuben have their hands in the air and their eyes are closed as they sway. natasha had pulled bob out onto the deck and made him dance with her a little. none of us were sure what was going on there, maybe nothing? maybe something?

jake locked eyes with you, smiled real big, rolled his eyes and shook his head.

mickey and his girlfriend had begun to slowly dance together as well as javy and his lady. reuben came up the steps and wrapped one arm around bradley's shoulders and the two of them sang

i want real love baby. ooh, don't leave me waiting.

you had taken your phone out to record this moment as it was something that you wanted to keep forever. you had only recorded a few seconds, being sure you spent a couple extra seconds on reuben and bradley. you watched the video and didn't notice.

jake had made his way up the steps, after realizing you didn't have a partner either. "may i?" your mouth fell open, your eyes were wide as they looked from his outstretched hand to his eyes.

"oh! um... sure!" you set your phone down and wiped your hand on your jean shorts before taking his hand. he gingerly pulled you to him. this means nothing. you thought to yourself. his large hand was pressed flat on the small of your back, keeping your body close to his while his other hand still held onto yours. nothing at all.

your hand held his shoulder as the two of you stepped back and forth to the beat. you were so flustered in this moment, you couldn't bring yourself to keep your head up. jake, being hisself says, "why don't you want to look up at me?" you let a breath pass through your nose to represent a laugh. you figured you'd take another shot. "because i might fall in love if i do." your head was still pointed down, looking at your painted toes.

there was a long pause before he says, "look at me, please." his voice almost begged, and you obliged. big mistake. you were more right than you thought you would be. the way his eyes pressed into you and the way they bore into your own. "there we go." a soft smile graced his lips.

"oh jake," you patted his shoulder a couple of times. "if only." his brows furrowed. "what do you mean?" you breathed deeply, in and out. "i mean, i like you. a lot. and i want, i've been waiting, for you to ask me on a date. and you just haven't. you've been so oblivious and i'm frustrated with you but then you flash your smile and your green eyes look me over and it all goes away and then i'm frustrated again."

jake was stunned, utterly shook. he'd never had someone be so upfront with him. "wow." was the only thing he could say.

your head dropped, "worth a last shot, i guess." you mumbled. "hey." he said, your face lifted to focus on him. his eyes locked with yours before drifting around your face. "can i take you out on a date? please?" your heart went from the lowest drop to the highest mountain. "i would really love that jake."

his hand slid the rest of the way around your body, gripping your waist, it sent light tingles through your skin. you rested your head on his shoulder, taking in this moment with him. his cologne clung to his neck. he pressed the lightest kiss to your cheek before resting his head on top of yours.

i'm a flower, you're my bee. it's much older than you and me. i'm in love, i'm alive.

unbeknownst to you, natasha had taken your phone off the table and recorded you and jake as well. after finding out, you'd watch that video just about three times a day, remembering his hand on your waist, the smell of his cologne, when he pressed a gentle kiss on your cheek, how his jaw felt against your head, how real that moment felt.

he had taken you on a few dates, the first one was just some ice cream, then the next one was a drive-in and your most recent one had been a picnic on the beach. your relationship was growing. every day with him made you feel giddy, like a child, inside. yeah, jake was a natural flirt. women would eyeball him all the time at the hard deck, but the best thing, was he only had eyes for you.
