Ancients Chibis!
from top to bottom, left to right:
Illyria, Iberia (+bby Port), Etruria (more accurately, Tarquinia), Dacia
Thrace, Numidia (more accurately, Masaesyli), Persia/Iran, Gaul
Pontus, Kush, Judea, Ancient Libya
Obligatory disclaimer that Illyria, Iberia, Dacia, Thrace, Gaul, and Ancient Libya had other personifications due to the number of diverse tribes inhabiting these regions they’re just standing in as overall representatives haha
These are just some cute ancients chibis I’ve been working on! If there’s interest, I might turn them into stickers hehe, but for now I’m pretty satisfied with how these designs turned out, and I definitely want to draw them more later!

Some nations and their birth/death date
- Britannia : born around 800BCE (beginning of British Iron Age); died around 500CE, but she had been getting weaker ever since Rome's forces left.
- Rome : born in 753BCE (Rome's fonding); died in 476CE, for obvious reasons
- Gaul (celtic) : born around 700BCE (between the Halstatt and La Tène cultures); died not long after the Gallic wars in 52BCE
- Germania : born around 750BCE (Nordic Iron Age) died not long after Rome's fall
- Frankish Kingdom/Empire: died in 843 (Treaty of Verdun), son of Germania
- Burgundian Kingdom/State: died in 1482 (end of the Burgundian War of Succession), daughter of Germania
- Frisian Kingdom: died 1523 (end or Frisian Freedom after a failed Frisian rebellion), son of Germania (and is either the biological or the adopted father of the Low Countries (or at least the Netherlands))
- France: born shortly before the Gallic Wars, son of Gaul
- England: born around 500 CE (first Anglo-Saxon kingdoms), he would fully become his "own" in 927 with the Kingdom of England, son of Britannia
- Spain: born somewhere during the Roman era, son of Rome
- Portugal: same as Spain, but earlier, son of Rome
- Netherlands: born shortly before the Roman conquest of Gaul (Belgae), son of idk who yet
- HRE: born in 486CE, when the Franks beat the Soissons Domain; died 1806 for obvious reasons, son of the Frankish Kingdom
- Middle Francia/Lotharingia: born in 843CE (Treaty of Verdun); died either 958CE (division of the Kingdom of Lotharingia) or 1190CE (Lower Lotharingia lost its territorial authority), daughter of the Frankish Kingdom
- Austrasia & Neustria: born in 511CE, died in 751CE, those boys were literally twins and they started the tradition of ✨️fratricide✨️ in the family (later carried on by France killing HRE), sons of the Frankish Kingdom
- Prussia: born 1226CE (creation of the State of the Teutonic Order)/born 1th century CE if we consider him an Old Prussian (Baltic tribe), son of how do I know
- Germany: born...1806(Confederation of the Rhine), 1815(German Confederation), 1866 (North German Confederation) or 1871 (Proclamation of the Reich)
Or he's HRE according to some... I don't know he's complicated...

Why hasn't there been a Hetalia AU where the countries were never made civilized by stronger countries?
Like Ancient Rome never conquered the Romantic countries, England and France never conquered the North American countries, Spain and Portugal never conquered South American countries.... etc.

Absolutely love that Gaul and Britannia had really good relations with each other but France and England hate each other
Like, imagine dying and being in the afterlife with your best friend, and going ‘hmm, I wonder if our children get along?’ And finding out they go to war with each other twice every century

This is somewhat random but, were Celt, Brit, and Gaul ever officially a “thing”
Yes.
Much to Rome's annoyance.

I said in one post that I considered Francis a child of Gaul.
I've been reading this book called "Nos ancêtres les gaulois" and while I knew a lot of the things said in general, it has got me thinking. Would it actually make sense that Francis is a child of Gaul ?
Historically, the idea of the Gauls being our main "ancestors" had kind of... not existed until the 18th century, or it was, but less considered. At that time, the theory was that the nobles were the descendants of the Franks and that the people were descendants of the Gauls. This served as a justification for the aristocratic rule over France as the Franks had conquered Gaul. Back then, France was more of a product of the Franks, with only a distant link to the Gauls. Then, by the 1870s, the idea of the Gauls being France's ancestors grew, mainly because a lot of countries were developing the idea of an ancestor for their people for their national identity. We didn't really want to claim the Romans (=Italy) and the Franks (=Germany) as it would've associated us with the ennemies of the time.
But the Gauls being our ancestors isn't totally wrong either. Technically we're a mix of a lot of origins and it also depends on the region.
So the main thing I'm asking myself is, would it make sense that he was Gaul's, Roman's or Frank's child ? (I go by the hc that a nation only has one biological parent but can take some if not most of its characteristics from another).
My current idea is that Francis is a child of Gaul, but he was adopted into Rome's and then Frank's family. I imagine him a child of Gaul and not Gaul mainly because the majority of content I saw where Francis was a Gaul had his mom to be Gaul. Now Gaul as a "nation" existed, but not in the way we think of today. "Gaul" was a loosely defined territory constitued of multiple tribes of common origin, they had a sense of being similar but at the same time, they weren't so much.
So if Francis' mom is Gaul, then Francis would have been either one of the many tribes had he been born before the Gallic Wars, or he would have been the personification of the Gallo-Romans had been born as a result of or after those Wars. I personally prefer the former, but then this begs the question of what he was representing. One of the tribes ? Which one? The Aeduii, the Arvenii or even the Parisii? But then, does that mean all of the other tribes were his siblings ? What would have happened to them, and how does Rome come into play here ?
Too much question that I'm making myself ask lsjsk
But to me, having Francis been through the Gauls, the Romans and the Franks makes so much sense, those are our three main "ancestors", the three main people we think of when asked who we descend from. So making him Rome's child or Frank's child only is weird to me.
Side note: I had also seen in the book that there used to be a comparison made between Vercongetorix, who was considered a sort of gaulish hero of the Gallic Wars, and Napoleon III. Funnily enough, this implies that Otto von Bismarck was Caesar :')

Gaul: *taps pen*
Germania: *taps pen in response*
Rome: Stop that.
Gaul: Stop what?
Rome: You're talking about me in Morse code.
Germania: Yes, that's what we're doing. In our very limited free time, we took a class on a very outdated, very unnecessary form of communication just so we could talk about you in front of you.
[Later]
Germania: That's exactly what we did.
