Ben and Devi are obviously endgame since they’re the couple being put at odds for narrative. and they’re the ones leading up to a confession at the end. paxton’s propose in the narrative and for devi’s life was always told by subtext: a distraction, a dream that devi used to find solace in but not longer fulfills her because she’s growing up and finding better coping mechanisms. ben has always been the real deal and i think a lot of that scares her because her feelings for ben developed out of her control. she didn’t plan on falling for him. her feelings for ben have always been bigger than what she feels for paxton that is mostly rooted in superficial factors.

Yep. Exactly this. It’s always been Ben. Every season ended with a revelation or happening relating him. Paxton was more of a tool to help Devi through her grief. Ben on the other hand—while also a tool to help Devi get distracted by her grief—was always the grounding love interest, keeping Devi in reality while he himself was struggling with facing his personal issues. He’s someone growing up with her, not merely helping her grow up.

Paxton is an incredible person and character, but he is at a different point in life. I said it before. Even if Devi can catch up to him, she shouldn’t have to because someone is proven to walk with her in life at the same pace—Ben Gross.

hello! 

i’ve had this blog up for I think a week now? maybe? and i’ve never formally introduced myself.

my name is emily, but more often than not i just go by m, i just turned 27 on april 4th. i used to write on here for hockey players but i deleted that blog because of the memories that came with it, a friend and i would bounce ideas back and forth and i wrote from that and we aren’t even speaking anymore now. 

but aside from that, my interests are hockey (blackhawks, rangers, penguins), baseball (yankees), and football (steelers) so i might get really annoying so i apologize in advance. i also crochet and bake. 

my fandom interests are top gun, top gun maverick, marvel, criminal minds, vikings, outer range, star wars, and gossip girl. i wont write for pokemon, but i've been into pokemon since it released in the united state, and no matter how many pokemon come out, i will always be a bulbasaur girlie.

my favorite color is yellow, i have 2 dogs, 3 facial piercings, 9 tattoos, an associates degree in communication and a bachelor’s degree in pre-veterinary medicine from michigan state university.

i also swear like a sailor and anything spicy/smutty or angsty is my absolute favorite thing to read.

Danny’s got the easiest job in Gotham.

He works as a fry cook at a shoddily-run, independent burger joint. Hardly anyone comes in, despite prices being criminally low, and portions insanely large, and while the manager looks like the average tough-as-nails ex-con, he lets Danny mess around in the kitchen whenever the place is empty. (Which is often. This place has to be the city’s hidden gem or something!)

Mr. Manager’s the only one ever there with Danny, except for sometimes when his buddies come over to smoke and play cards. Danny would find it shady, except part of his job is not to ask questions. Literally, he was told during the interview.

(It was a weird interview. Why would they need to hire someone who’s been in a gunfight before? Like, he has, but Gotham’s idea of “hirable qualities” is so bizarre.)

So instead he whips up some killer burgers with the frozen ingredients, and basks in the praise as the guys tell him he shouldn’t have, he does too much for this joint, ain’t that friendly!

Now, Danny’s a chef on the newer side. As a teen he’d preferred the look of Nasty Burger over anything with Michelin stars, and he only really took up cooking after Jazz moved out for college. But just like ecto-exposure used to turn the groceries sentient, Danny’s low-level ecto signature imbues all his food with something historically haunted Gothamites just love! And Danny’s never been one to half-ass a job when it makes people happy.

With fresher produce, real meat, Danny’s sure he can take his dishes to the next level. It takes a couple months of badgering, but his manager finally agrees to contact the mysterious store owner, who keeps the place going, despite profits Danny knows have to be in the red.

Danny spends the morning prepping. He pours his heart into his food, eager to impress. The big boss will be here soon, and he wants to prove that despite the dangerous location, this place has real potential!

It isn’t until the Red Hood shows up that Danny realizes he’s been working for a money laundering scheme.

This is definitely my SidSophie brain overthinking things, but I was musing on the song choice for Sophie and Jesse’s kiss - Forever Young, specifically the lyric “I wanna be forever young,” which plays during the climax of the scene, and how it reflects that Jesse is the romance of her youth, he’s her Hannah, a romance that was important to her journey and which she even looks back on fondly… but like the song implies, it belongs there, in her youth. Sid, on the other hand, is the romance for her more mature self, the Sophie who’s experienced this whole long journey we’re seeing and grown from it. Sid is the mature romance, the one that lasts. The real one.

OHHHH i like this theory of forever young playing over sophie and jesse’s rain kiss better than the ones about jesse’s foreshadowing death. i don’t want sophie and sid to get together because jesse died. i want something natural, so i concur to your thoughts on this.

i think people are forgetting that sophie’s not had any exes before drew. drew was her first serious relationship, but jesse’s her great love at this point (well… sorta because i feel like a part of sophie will always yearn for ian as she hasn’t tried being with him yet). jesse will always be important to her, but adult sophie emphasizes that a great journey shall be taken before she gets together with the father.

so while i do not hate jesse, i think the reason why it’s more likely that sid is the father is exactly what you stated. he’s a lasting romance. he’ll be the destination.

idk if thisis a motif necessary but i love drawing plants even if i dont do it very often. i dont even think about meanings TBH but i should actually i just think theyre really fun to draw yeasss greenery. and florals too and stuff. big. huge. i guess then in the sense of motif as just like a pattern LOL.

but ermmmm. like actual motifs i come back to a lot at least like in ideas that i have is two pieces similar composition but some kind of change has taken place where something about it then becomes very different like innnn this vk siblings piece i did ages ago. which i would like to redraw at some point i think i could do it better now. but in any case time has passed there and for me whats important about the second one is that franziska will only truly be vulnerable the way she was when she was younger if she can no longer resist bc of well being shot. and such. and while im talking about it i kind of like the emanating rays there but i think if i did it again i would try and focus more on the composition leading the eye to those places rather than relying on that as a help. and i would change edgeworth’s in the first one to being by his heart and not his head bc thats a little nonsense anyway. with those two i’ve always been enamored with thinking about the bullet wounds and the locations and what it means for both of them but this is already just straight up becoming a meta post and not an answer so i’ll stop.
