Your signature rhythm of knocking on the door never failed to bring a smile to Jinwoo’s face. He turned around in his studio chair, his brain wondering what brought you to him today. You hadn’t planned anything with him in advance.

You opened the door, and a laugh escaped Jinwoo as he saw you come in. You were holding a very large bouquet of roses, and it completely obscured your face from him. 

“Well hello there.” He couldn’t fight his grin as you moved the bouquet away, and he saw your face for the first time that day. You looked exceptionally pretty. “What brings you here?”

“Well, it’s our 1000th day as a couple so, I thought we might as well do something for it.” You smiled, handing him the bouquet. “I hope you’re not busy, cause I’m about to steal you away.”

He grinned, “I’m not, just working on some songs…” He turned around and pressed save before shutting off his computer altogether and standing up. 

“I love the roses.”

“I’m glad you do, I picked them out last minute.” You grinned, taking his hand and leading him outside.

“Doesn’t the guy usually give the girl flowers?”

“Who cares about gender roles, anyway? This was all last minute.” You got into your car, Jinwoo following you without any questions.

“You know, my calculations could be slightly off…” You said, stopping to think for a second before shrugging. “Doesn’t really matter, let’s just say today is our 1000th day, even if it’s slightly off. We haven’t had a date in forever.”

“I’m sorry about that… I’ve been so busy-” You placed your hand over his mouth before he could continue with his apology.

“Uh uh, no feeling bad about it now. You know I don’t mind if you're busy or not. Put your job first, I’m always here regardless.” You smiled, moving your hand to cup his cheek and give him a kiss. He smiled widely and kissed you back, giggles leaving both of you when you pulled apart.

You started to drive, the sun just starting to set. Jinwoo sat in the passenger seat with a smile never leaving his face. He still held the bouquet of roses, and he brought them up to his nose to smell the sweet fragrant scent every so often.

“Where are we going?”

“The beach.” You grinned, “I have everything planned out. You need some time off anyway.”

“I’m so lucky to have you.”

“Shut up, that’s my line.”

You pulled up to the beach. Thankfully on a cool Wednesday evening, barely anyone was there. A small table was set under a white canopy. Jinwoo’s favourite food was served, and there were decorations surrounding it.

“Stop- did you do all of this?!” Jinwoo swivelled around to you, tears brimming in his eyes at the sight.

“No, don't cry, baby!” You caught his face in your hands and wiped away the tear that slipped out, hugging him tightly.

“I love you. Happy 1000th day anniversary.” You whispered.

“I love you too. Thank you for everything.” He blinked back the remaining tears in his eyes and laughed. “I didn’t think I would get emotional with this kind of stuff.” He confessed. 

You giggled, “It’s okay. You’re cute.”

“Gosh, I really really love you.” He smiled, leaning in for a kiss.

“How much do you love me?” You stopped him.

“More and more everyday?” He offered.

“You’re cheesy.”

“You took me on a cheesy date… now give me a kiss.” 

You smiled, obliging his request immediately, and placing your lips on his again.

You both had lived busy lives but you promised to spend tonight together. So you found yourselves huddled in the back of his pick-up truck which he has made as cozy as he could. Watching the starlit sky was one of your bucket list but of course it had to rain that night and you ended up in a random parking area, watching movies on his laptop and seated as closely as possible.

He had an arm slung across your shoulder and you nuzzled comfortably on his. At this space, at this time, it was just you and him and the beer in your hand and the sparkling water for him. He never drank a sip when he drove with you, he was responsible like that. It was one of the things you loved about him.

The movie's audio was set so low you could barely make out the conversation of the actors but you actually didn't care. He had you enveloped in his warmth and you were content and happy. You let out a sigh of contentment and you saw him smile through the corner of your eyes.

You then talked about your future, of the house you dreamed to have and the grand wedding he wanted to give you. You punched him lightly when he jokingly said he wanted five kids at the minimum.

You talked about how you'd annoy your children and grandchildren with your endless parade of affection and how he'd hold your hand lovingly like today for the rest of your lives. It will be you and him, wrinkles and all.

He dropped you off at your place and just when you were about to get off, he grabbed and kissed you--gentle and tentative at first but needy and demanding as soon as you responded. There was only silence as you and him broke off from the kiss, each one afraid to break that wonderful bubble but he eventually got the courage to whisper that he loves you. You smiled and nodded and said you loved him too.

You waved him off with a lovestruck look in your eyes and once he was far enough to not see, you finally let yourself break down.

You both decided to meet up for one last time before you let each other go.

“Out of all things we could’ve done tonight,” you pout, holding tight onto Jinwoo’s arm. “We could’ve watched a movie and had some popcorn or gone out to eat.” You two reach a fork in the maze and had to either turn left or right. “But here we are. Walking in a scary maze at night,” you tug Jinwoo towards the right as he chuckles. “With these stupid, creepy scarecrows popping up every now and then.” 

“It’s fine, don’t worry,” Jinwoo tries to reassure you as the two of you try to find a way out of the maze. “It’s fun, isn’t it?” 

“What part of this is funny?” you mumble under your breath. “Why are they so creepy for?”

You guys walk past a bush that rustles as soon as you step by. You both pause and you look at Jinwoo in terror. 

“What’s th-HOLY SHIT!” you scream when a scarecrow pops up and then disappears back behind the bush. 

Jinwoo holds you as you throw yourself onto him trying to calm yourself down. 

He laughs, “It’s okay, it’s gone.” You take deep breaths and slowly release your hold on your boyfriend. Your evil boyfriend, who is still laughing at you. 

“Haha,” you sarcastically laugh once you calm down. You let go of him and start walking away from him, pouting. 

“No, honey! I swear I wasn’t laughing at you!” Jinwoo tries to explain as he catches up to you. He throws his arm around your shoulders and pulls you into him as the both of you find your way out of the dark maze.
