Ah.
The I should be sleeping and yet here I am just swapping through YouTube videos and the new Heartbreak High series.
I mean yay interesting things, and I'm loving Chloe Hayden's character Qunnie and how she is understandably reading my autistic ass for filth and I love for it. But, something something I should be sleeping or something.

This new series will feature a host of talented Australian comedians and actresses, and is sure to be a hit with fans of the original show. The original version of ‘The Office’ premiered in 2005 and ran for nine seasons, making it one of the most beloved comedies in television history. The show followed the daily lives of employees at a fictional paper company, Dunder Mifflin, and featured a cast of memorable characters like Michael Scott, Jim Halpert, and Dwight Schrute. This new series will be called ‘The Office Ladies’ and will be produced by production company Endemol Shine Australia. The Cast The cast for ‘The Office Ladies’ is set to be a star-studded affair, featuring a lineup of talented Australian comedians and actresses. One of the major themes of the show will be the challenges and obstacles faced by women in the workplace, and the show is sure to tackle these issues in a unique and thought-provoking way. This is one of my favourite movies of all time. The trailer focuses a lot on the fashion element of the story, I assume because it is the most visually-pleasing, and skims over the darker aspects of the movie, which are many and prominent.
The Dressmaker is a rare example of a book that was made into a film, and the film turned out better. Don't try and burn me alive; others have tried and it never sticks.
The Dressmaker is also an example of that rare beast: Australian Gothic. A dark past, a beautiful woman returning to find redemption... And revenge. Love. Lost love. A mother driven crazy by loss and loneliness. A hot young fellow outcast. In fact, many outcasts who, for a brief but golden time, find each other and are their own safe, happy community, away from the stifling judgment and rigidity of a small Australian town in the 1950s. I don't want to spoil the ending, so will make do by saying there isn't much happiness to be found in the ending. But there is a lot of glorious, fiery revenge, the kind that makes the earlier heartbreak almost worth it.
I love this movie in particular because the most Gothic elements are also some of the most Australian. The atmosphere of ignorance, fear and distrust that pervades the tiny Australian town of Dungatar is universal to small towns the world over. The bland Australian accents, the remoteness and harshness of life in a place that was recently forcibly and violently settled, and the pettiness and cruelty of Dungatar’s residents create an atmosphere of anxiety and suspicion, teasing the viewer not quite to the point of a horror story. There is a strong sense that something sinister and macabre is lurking in the collective memory of the residents, and the question that the beautiful and talented protagonist might be a murderer is unsettling and tantalising.
I regularly re-watch this movie, and if you enjoyed Australian movies/TV shows like SeaChange, Mad Max, or Wolf Creek, this is in a similar ball park. Not hugely similar, but somewhere nearby. Laney Lane as the singer at the football dance is also gorgeous to see.

Okay so...
I just started watching this Australian programme (because all their programmes are the best) called sisters. First of all it’s funny as heck and second of all it’s such an interesting plot. But I’m watching it and the character Edie is having problems with her husband in the bedroom department because their not really clicking anyway fast forward and their on their sofa making it out and is awkward as hell and as soon as I saw it I was like ‘she’s a lesbian that’s why she doesn’t like sex with her husband and why it’s so awkward to see them kissing’ I googled it but alas it is too new a programme to have many stories but then my prayers were answered and EDIE GETS IT ON WITH HER SECRETARY AND THERES SO MUCH PASSION AND SHIT GOING ON which is nothing compared to her dead sex life with her husband and I’m so here for this story line 👀
