bear with me my words are weird roday but. ok. so lwj is a Good Person. and that's not rly news, you're kinda told from the start that "Hanguang-jun is righteous and upstanding", but it all comes with the heavy implications of Society and his place in it. and tou can see in Teen LWJ how badly he is trying to be just that, fitting into a mold that his family and society understands as a "good person", he tries so hard it feels almost paralyzing!

but the thing is that, even back then, if you strip all the layers of social conditioning, forget about righteousness or morality or codes of conduct, lan wangji really is just that... a good person. with his flaws, sure, but once the mask falls and his white robes are dirtied and he's walked 10 miles to go to a lake because a boy he shouldn't be thinking about told him it would be fun, once there's nothing more than a kid who was late because he was busy helping people on his way there, that's what he is: a good person
