Recommendation for something to watch and complete on a off day? I am also off today. Something soft and full of love preferably....
10 Soft BL's to Binge In A Day
(Since I don't sleep and watch high speed I binge full length Thai BL but I'm assuming you want something shorter than that, so I've limited myself to a 5hr runtime.)
Tumblr media
1. Semantic Error (Korea Viki) - Sexy older boy discovers pouty younger boy has outed him as a slacker, starts out bullying him, accidentally falls madly in love. Korea hits it entirely out of the Parks by doing a university BL with everything we expect from BL just done exactly right. Korea's signature quality executed perfectly with added bonus good story, great pacing, stunning visuals, and fantastic chemistry. You cannot ask for more from a BL, let alone a KBL. Full review.
Tumblr media
2. Seven Days (Japan grey in 2 parts Seven Days: Monday - Thursday, Seven Days: Friday - Sunday) - one of the best live action yaoi mangas ever made. The leads have excellent chemistry although it’s low heat, there’s still more kisses than Cherry Magic. Popular first year Seiryo has a policy of going out with any girl who asks… for one week. On a lark, third year Yuzuru tests to see if that policy also applies to boys. Seiryo agrees that it does. Along the way they accidentally fall in love. All the angst is just teen confusion.
Tumblr media
3. Our Dating Sim (Korea Viki) - I enjoyed every aspect from the casting to the very simple premise to the quietly smooth execution. Sure it’s very low stakes, but that makes it high domesticity and extremely warm and gentle. This is a fuzzy blanket of a story. Do we call this cozy BL? Why not? This one is going to live in my rewatch pile, I can tell already, and you know what’s best about it? Every single episode is in that pile. There’s no skipping with this one, it might be good natured and calmly sweet but it’s tight and the pacing is excellent. It perfectly suited KBL’s short-length tendencies. Full review.
Tumblr media
4. Light On Me (Korea Viki - Korea does an elegant pastiche of traditional live action yaoi but all tropes are cleverly deployed to bolster one of the most riveting love triangles ever put on screen… and I don’t like love triangles. LoM strategically tailors classic BL tropes to 2 different semes resulting in pristine pacing, plot, and character development, explicitly serving narrative (not just to tick boxes). LoM is a master class in this trope drops. (If you write fanfic or romance you should study this show.) Full review.
Tumblr media
5. Takara-kun and Amagi-kun (Japan Gaga & Viki) - I gnawed on my knuckles and squealed a lot with this show. Reserved cool kid who must learn to communicate to keep the tiny disaster nugget he’s madly in love with. It is beyond charming: soft and gentle, packed with cuteness and high school angst, thirst, & yearning. Was there plot? Not really. Was it emotionally tense and paced well enough for me not to notice? Absolutely. Did I enjoy the hell out of it? Oh yes. Full review.
Tumblr media
6. HIStory 2: Crossing the Line (Taiwan Viki) - super low stakes sweetest story of the bad boy who falls hard for the senior on the volleyball team and then works to earn his love. You know it’s Taiwan so the kisses are great but in this case it also ends well. Only trigger is that the side couple is the stepbrothers trope, and some don’t like that.
Tumblr media
7. Cherry Magic (Japan indie subbed) AKA Doutei dato Mahoutsukai ni narerurashii - the sweetest, fluffiest, most charming bit of adorable ever, full of found family and pastry and serious slapstick, the characters are utterly bonkers, but cute about it.
Tumblr media
8. Wish You (Korea Netflix or Viki, you want the movie version) AKA WISH YOU: Your Melody in My Heart - low stakes high pining romance about a pianist who falls in love with a busker who is on his way to being the next big idol.
Tumblr media
9. Restart After Come Back Home (Japan indie subbed or Gaga?) - this one is perfect if you just want a beautiful loving movie, and one that is well filmed and complex enough to appeal to those who don’t normally watch BL or romance (if you have a reluctant partner).
Tumblr media
10. You Are Ma Boy (Vietnam YouTube) - is there angst? Nope even what could have been angst (a gay idol) doesn’t materialize, it’s just cuties in a cafe confusing each other with cat & mouse games. The side het couple is a touch disturbing, tho.
Also Old Fashioned Cupcake, it's a bit more complicated than soft but a FANTASTIC binge watch.

okeyyy...i know this acc is preddy much good and dead, rest in peace all my dearly beloved tgcfmdzs mutuals and followers who moved on to smth else in the yrs since mdzs ended, ....but i still have a big enough active audience methinks soooo i wanted 2 promote a korean novel thats REEALLY unappreciated in the eng community ITS SO GOOD its my favourite novel atm and i really want it to catch on w western audiences bcuz i swear it has the potential to be as big as mxtxs novels were if given the opportunity to blow up...
RETURN OF THE MOUNT HUA SECT (aka, officially, RETURN OF THE BLOSSOMING BLADE) is an action, fantasy, comedy korean novel by BIGA on Naver, with a webcomic by STUDIO LICO on Webtoon
THE WEBCOMIC IS CURRENTLY ON BREAK AFTER THE COMPLETION OF ITS FIRST “SEASON” (will be returning sometime mid 2023) AND THE NOVEL IS STILL ON GOING WITH 1494 CHAPTERS (as of 4/15/2023)....if uve read tgcf in its entirety pls dont let that chp count scare you..rotmhs is a very bingeable novel... while rotmhs doesnt have an official english translation, the ongoing fan tl has 379 chapters translated (as of 4/15/2023) [LINKS PROVIDED BELOW]
MY SYNOPSIS: the story follows the main protagonist chung myung, a member of the mount hua sect who was formerly known as the legendary ‘plum blossom sword saint’, reincarnates into the body of a beggar child a hundred years into the future after dying following the beheading of the demonic cult leader, chun ma, who slaughtered his clan members as well as countless other sects during the war. when he wakes, he discovers that his once proud and respected sect has fallen into ruin during the century following its defeat. chung myung, hiding his identity as a fabled hero from the past, rejoins the mount hua sect under the guise of being nothing but a beggar to help restore the mount hua sect to its former greatness while making friends as well as enemies along the way..
the official (webtoon) synopsis:
When Cheongmyeong of the Mount Hua Sect awakens a hundred years in the future, his last memories are of a bloody battle against the Leader of the Demonic Cult, the evil Cheonma. The battle almost saw the end of the Ten Great Sects of ancient China, when Cheongmyeong ended the hard-fought struggle by striking down Cheonma. Soon after, he succumbed to his wounds, filled with regret at their pyrrhic victory. All is not lost, however, as he awakens to his second chance at life. Shocked to find his beloved Mount Hua Sect reduced to a mere shadow of itself in the present day, Cheongmyeong embarks on a journey to restore Mount Hua to its former glory.
while the official synopsis does make it seem like the story is going to be heavy and action focused, the novel itself is more comedic than its led on to be and its action scenes are rlly fun and exhilarating to read..
the main cast are extremely likeable and their relationship w each other is very funny and heartwarming... that being said i feel like if uve come from any of the popular danmei novels and r interested in reading rotmhs (PLEASE BE INTERESTED) i feel like i shuld mention that THERE IS NO ROMANCE IN THIS NOVEL... its not a BL, theres no romantic connotations between any of the main characters, this novel is more focused on found family and the bonds between friends than anything BUT PLEASE PLEASE DO NOT LET THE LACK OF ROMANCE DISSUADE YOU..
AIIISSHH THIS IS GETTING LONG ENOUGH soo basically here are links 2 where u can read ROTMHS please consider reading it PLEASE bc im sick as hell of not having enough fics or fanart of it or ppl to talk to abt it with..feel like im rting art on my priv to brick walls....!!!!!!!!!!

OMG! I love the “Angry Bird” comment
PS The BL they’re featured in, Bump Up Business, was CUTE! Bingeable! Easy to watch! Decent story! (Based on actual experience?) On iQIYI. And, of course, the members are all very pretty.

I finally started watching Word of Honor and it's got me in a choke-hold and I'm not even 7 episodes in.
But... I have some questions - and as you are the Word of Honor specialist on my dash I was hoping you could help me out.
Does it have a HEA? If it doesn't I'm still gonna watch it, but I feel I need to be prepared. (Do I need to stock up on my wine?? Is it a tequila ending?!? Or is it a The Untamed ending?)
I keep seeing mentions that it is based on a book. As both a book lover and a media traditionalist (as in, you should always read the book) - is it available in English? (I am dumb and do not speak/read any other languages. 😩)
I started watching on Netflix because that was the app I was browsing when it showed in my suggestions and I said "Yes, this is good time to start this!" (at 9pm on Sunday 🤦🏻‍♀️) - But I have Viki, is Viki going to have the better subs? (my experience says yes, but thought I'd ask.)
And why did they make this show so specifically bingeable, every episode ends in the middle of a scene!
Oh my god to be considered a WOH specialist is like a life goal achievement. Thank you!!
Ok let’s dive in:
1) If you don’t watch the special 15 minute epilogue (available on YouTube), then yeah you will need tissues and tequila. I actually loved the sad ending though. It was beautiful. But after crying you can watch the epilogue and decide which you prefer.
2) It is based on a book called Faraway Wanderers by Priest (author of many novels, BL like Guardian and non-BL like Legend of Fei). The book has not yet been officially published in English, but there are English translations available online. I’ve not read it, so I don’t have a link. I’m hoping Seven Seas will publish it soon. They have just started publishing Guardian and are preparing to publish another Priest novel this year.
3) I watched it on Netflix. A month or so ago @linameka started watching it with me using Viki and I instantly clocked the poor quality subtitles. I switched her to Netflix immediately. You really never know which is going to have the better subs. For instance I started Falling Into Your Smile on Netflix and I couldn’t get through 5minutes of it. Switched to Viki and it was 1000x better. Finished the show in a weekend.
Yeah cdramas do that on purpose. They are like potato chips. I watch them faster than kdramas because they are just designed to binge.
Bless you for thinking of me 💜

I can’t believe I’m writing something not related to Moonlight Chicken (✨Alan x Gaipa/Gaipa x Alan✨), but here we go, before the big MC finale: I managed to finish the totally wonderful 10 Years Ticket, my first Thai lakorn, out of a continued devotion to rummaging the rabbitholes of actors/actresses that tore my heart apart in previous dramas. In this case, in the aftermath of my ravaging affair with Bad Buddy, I had to catch up on Nanon’s and Ohm’s latest works. Dirty Laundry was an easy bucket. Ohm’s 10 Years Ticket was a hell of a something else entirely.
I understood that, going in to 10YT, lakorns are generally assumed to be soapy, and I had to admit that I was concerned about entering this tunnel -- especially because I have a history of being seriously disappointed by subpar cishet roles for my otherwise dear QL actors (AHEM MACHIDA KEITA, the man needs better scripts; Akaso Eiji is faring so much better). As well, I’m not even all that familiar with Ohm’s other BLs and non-QL dramas, as He’s Coming to Me is on my list of essential BLs to watch, and I’ll get to it soon (SOTUS first).
So anyway, I came into this apprehensive, especially considering how LONG the series is, at 16 episodes, and I knew there was violence, which I generally avoid. But I should have given GMMTV more credit. It was UTTERLY bingeable, a VERY DEEP study into long-term intergenerational family and community trauma, and I found it totally compelling as someone who’s trained in the social services. And, I am a huge fan now of director Fon Kanittha, who, VERY IMPORTANTLY, will be directing Milk and Love’s GL, 23.5 (EEEEEEEE). So I was glad to check off not just an Ohm box, but Fon’s as well.
AND! Because I’m still so new to Thai dramas, I’ve never seen a QL/drama with Off before (lord help me as I contemplate jumping into OffGun). And 10YT had a wonderful stable of GMMTV actors in Tu Tontawan, View Benyapa (who was fantasssstic), Pluem Purim (who was also great), and Foei Patara (so evil, so good!).
The casting was superb -- especially for the insanely difficult subject matter.
I don’t know if I want to spend that much time on the plot, but I’ll do my best to explain what plot points matter to why I thought the show was a success. The show centers on Ohm’s character, Phukao, whose half-brother, Mai (Pluem) is shot and killed when Phukao is a very young child. Phukao and Mai’s family are close with a number of other families in their community. Mai is a drug runner, and his girlfriend -- the older sister of one of the other friendly families -- takes the rap for the shooting and is sent to prison, causing almost permanent friction between the families. Later in the show, the girlfriend’s younger sister (Kongkwan, played by Tu), is reunited with Phukao; they were friends as young children, but separated after the shooting, and Phukao had a long-standing grudge against Kongkwan, until he realizes his feelings for her as an older teenager.
I’m going to add trigger warning tags to my review, because as part of the layering of intercommunity and intergenerational trauma of this show, I don’t think I’ve ever seen depicted in a drama a young child witnessing as much as young Phukao witnessed, including post-mortem scenes and episodes of abject family violence. So it honestly was not surprising to me that Ohm/Phukao and Tu/Kongkwan did not ACTUALLY have, quantifiably, a tremendous amount of screen or speaking time.
I peeped on the 10YT tag a few complaints that Phukao and Kongkwan were actually a pretty tame and not exciting couple, but I have to hand it to Fon, because -- I think she rendered these two teenage characters quite accurately. If I were studying Phukao’s and Kongkwan’s childhood stories in a social services course, I’d be amazed that the kids could even talk, considering what they experienced and witnessed by way of violence and loss.
In other big, macro words: this show was led VERY deeply by the criss-crossed storytelling of ALL of the stories of the families of the community that was destroyed by Mai’s shooting death. The domestic hell of Phukao’s family after the shooting. Phukao terrorizing Kongkwan’s family in retaliation. Off’s character, Plu, caring for his grandparents by entering the drug running trade and lying about going to college. View’s character, Zo, growing up without a mother. A queer storyline at the parental generation. Parents abandoning their kids, then showing up again. A mafia family storyline with corrupt police mixed in. And throughout all of this, a major theme of movie storytelling bringing all of these individuals along on their life growth paths.
It’s a lot of shit, terrible adult-level trauma that children and teenagers had to face, oftentimes alone, oftentimes with parents that were barely keeping it together themselves. People die in the show, parents die in the show. Kids are left to process alone. It’s just a LOT.
And maybe one or two parts were rushed. BUT: I truly think Fon balanced the script beautifully, and I give her major credit for that. To tell a story of FOUR FAMILIES and their interconnected trauma -- and to bring the story together to unite and reunite a group of childhood friends who commit to holding each other down -- it was no wonder this series needed 16 episodes, but it didn’t drag. It paced beautifully, the storytelling was varied, and everything was done honestly, especially the very empathic queer storyline, which I won’t give away, but I’ll just say this: ASIA, we need more elder queer stories, because you do them SO WELL when it happens. It was beautifully and heartachingly done.
What was refreshing for me to watch in 10YT, as I’ve been quickly educating myself on the history of Thai BLs, was to see multiple generations of actors in a storyline. I’m (COUGH) entering my early middle-aged years, and while I love our darling actors/actresses in their 20s, I do need to watch shows with cohorts more around my age as well. 10YT gave me a drama where each episode was led by a different family or entity, and that generational variation lent major authenticity to a show that would have otherwise been lost if it had turned into a teeny-bop vehicle for Ohm and Tu.
For the screentime that Ohm and Tu *did* have -- they were FABULOUS. Ohm was GREAT, Y’ALL. Mans got such chops. Gah. My heart. His poor character got sent through the trauma ringer. Tu mostly cried for her parts, but she played a tough cookie in Kongkwan, and -- not to spoil this, but I gotta say it -- she did pursuer VERY well. Get it, gurl. Off was fantastic, and I can’t wait to catch up with him in Midnight Motel. But for my money, View absolutely ATE her role, and I want to see her have a major role in some amazing all-star drama/QL at some point.
Was 10YT as SMART, and sharp, and critical of intergenerational trauma as Bad Buddy? No, they’re incomparable, because the stories were vastly different. 10YT laid out a reality that parents can actually fail. They can really, truly fail. And even while they fail.... children may feel an unspeakable, inherent urge to still love those parents. And maybe those parents can try to redeem themselves, in some way.
I’m realizing that what I’m loving about this modern crop of directors from GMMTV -- Aof, Jojo, and now Fon -- is that they do complicated characters VERY authentically. You, as a viewer, are almost not allowed to wallow in dualistic interpretations when trying to understand these characters. No good and bad here, unless it’s screamingly obvious. And I think that’s a really compelling ask for Asian directors to make of what is a majority Asian audience in Thailand, where filial piety towards families is the major name of the culture game.
I hope this could be considered a decent review, because I didn’t dive too much into the plot, as it really would take a huge amount of time to unwind it all, and I apologize that most of this review is just generalist meditation. But let me just say that if you have the stomach to watch a drama that depicts an Asian perspective on community interconnectivity and the trauma that those relationships bring -- then watch this show. Much of the ways in which the families HANDLED the drama in this drama reminded me of my childhood (without all the criminal and family violence, thank goodness). If you’re in an Ohm rabbithole, I’d say this is a must watch, because he was brilliant in an utterly wonderful script.

Feu’s February 2022 BL/GL Wrap-up
A little monthly wrap-up of all the shows I’ve watched or am watching in February 2022, general thoughts, ranking of them all.
Recommendation of the month:
Everybody's heard of Bad Buddy, so watch my second favourite thing of the month. It's 6 minutes and the cutest thing ever.
Ranking:
Bad Buddy
Graduation, Present + Propose = Utsukushii Kare
The Summer Pasta Recipe
Kieta Hatsukoi = 7 Days: Monday - Thursday = Mr. Heart
Secret Roommate = Please Tell Me So
7 Days: Friday - Sunday = You Make Me Dance
Love By Chance = Hold Me
Completely Watched
Bad Buddy
Country: Thailand
Release Dates: Oct 29, 2021 - Jan 21, 2022
Dates Watched: Jan 22 - Feb 3, 2022
Rating: 8/10 8.5/10 [Aug 20, 2022 Update: Increased by 0.5 stars when rerating my top BLs] [Oct 29, 2022 Update: Increased by 0.5 stars when rerating my top BLs] 9/10
Watched Via: GMMTV Youtube
General Thoughts: Characters really made the show, loved the queer lens and how the acting and characters made a simple story come alive. Made me watch Soon vijarn reactions, search up twitter edits and go through people’s tumblrs to see how people were reacting when the show was actually airing lol.
tags: bad buddy, ohmnanon, ohm pawat, nanon korapat
Also Mentioned In: Anticipated 2022 Releases
Love By Chance
Country: Thailand
Release Dates: Aug 3, 2018 - Nov 9, 2018
Dates Watched: Feb 5 - 6, 2022
Rating: 4/10
Watched Via: Studio Wabi Sabi Youtube
General Thoughts: wanted to watch something mediocre to reset expectations after bad buddy, so I decided to check off one of the BLs I kept hearing about but didn’t have high hopes for. It fell flat even though I went in with no expectations. Didn’t care about Tin/Can, actively disliked the other side couples (step-brothers and sexual assault) and I just skipped through their parts after a certain point. AePete were okay at first and then irritating. I liked Perth though, he made the character seem natural; would be willing to watch something else with him. It’s a very bingeable show, too.
Kieta Hatsukoi My Love Mix-Up
Country: Japan
Release Dates: Oct 9, 2021 - Dec 18, 2021
Dates Watched:  Feb 9 - 13, 2022
Rating: 6/10
Watched Via: Viki
General Thoughts: I feel the exact same way about this as I did Cherry Magic and I wonder if I’m missing something because they’re both so beloved and reminded me of each other but neither quite clicked for me. It makes even less sense because I love softness and tenderness, slice of life type romances but these stories somehow fail to connect with me. I liked Aoki fine (if a bit irritating), the friendships were cute, the visuals were pleasing, there’s nothing I hated but beyond a few smiles here and there, I didn’t feel anything for the characters or story.

Secret Roommate
Country: South Korea
Release Dates: Jun 5, 2020
Dates Watched: Feb 14, 2022
Rating: feels too short for a rating but probably 5.5/10
Watched Via: :>
General Thoughts: An impulsive watch because the trailer for it was featured on the Strongberry Youtube and the summary seemed interesting. The concept was great, I love established relationships and the bits of Outsider POV, and it was overall cute but the short length means not really having a big impact and not properly tying up things (I would’ve liked a conversation and proper conflict resolution between the brothers). Cute ending, though rushed.
7 Days: Monday - Thursday
Country: Japan
Release Dates: Jun 6, 2015
Dates Watched: Feb 14, 2022
Rating: 6/10
Watched Via: :>
General Thoughts: I first became aware of this a few years ago due to some controversy that another novel plagiarized(?) this story and I liked the premise, so I’ve been wanting to check this out for a while. The movie itself is quite slow, not in terms of like plot and stuff just like the actions and acting itself is slow, so I had to watch on 1.5x. I don’t know how I feel about this, like I don’t feel super connected to the characters themselves but I’m invested in their romance. Compared to other shows, esp Thai BLs with like 2 side couples, there aren’t really significant side characters and I like that we pay attention to our main relationship with side characters to elevate it rather than get sidetracked by the other characters.
7 Days: Friday - Sunday
Country: Japan
Release Dates: July 4, 2015
Dates Watched: Feb 15-16, 2021
Rating: 5/10
Watched Via: :>
General Thoughts:
So here’s the thing right, it’s not necessarily this movie’s fault that I’m still more interested in thinking about/reading about bad buddy than watching this but it kind of is? Like I’m still on a BBS high, so I’m not expecting this show to overtake that but the slowness of it is really good at times and really dull at times and it’s incredibly easy to just... stop watching halfway through a scene.
I found it hard to connect with the story and characters, despite the characters being developed and distinct and the story was supposed to be tense with will-they won’t-they but I was mostly bored. I liked the atmosphere, it’s a hard to describe and hard to create mood but I enjoyed that part, which makes me think I wouldn’t have been annoyed by how slow every action was if I more into the characters.
I don’t think this will leave much impression on me or that I’ll think of these movies again
Utsukushii Kare My Beautiful Man
Country: Japan
Release Dates: Nov 18 - Dec 23, 2021
Dates Watched: Feb 17 - 21, 2022
Rating: 6.5/10
Watched Via: Viki
General Thoughts: Nervous while starting because I didn’t enjoy Kieta Hatsukoi or the 7 Days movies as much as I’d hoped; please don’t let me down D: I heard it’s really, really beautiful and maybe poignant at the end + apparently there’s finger sucking so I hope it delivers!
I live blogged the whole watching experience, which was fun! I wanted a bit more from the story but overall enjoyed the characters and their strange relationship. I know there are 3 novels and this only followed the first one, so I would love for a Season 2.

The Summer Pasta Recipe
Country: South Korea
Release Dates: Feb 14, 2022
Dates Watched: Feb 22, 2022
Rating: feels too short for a rating, maybe 6.5/10
Watched Via: Strongberry Youtube
General Thoughts: I love reading about exes, so the idea of watching it piqued my interest and I think exploring relationships via food is the best. It’s skillfully sweet and awkward, like they’re exes who are cooking together; it’s an uneasy yet familiar, awkward yet pleasant, atmosphere. A blend of endearing and yearning and heartache. I liked how it’s a quietly complicated relationship and, as a umm very sentimental and memory-loving person, characters reminiscing always gets to me.
It was done so beautifully considering it’s just 10 minutes long but somehow we could imagine what the characters and their relationship was like based on the script. I love these short, quiet that convey so much.
Also Mentioned In: Anticipated 2022 Releases
Hold Me
Country: South Korea
Release Dates: June 1, 2021
Dates Watched: Feb 23, 2022
Rating: too short for a rating but probably a 4/10
Watched Via: Strongberry Youtube
General Thoughts: It was fine. Short, something to just watch for the sake of watching, not memorable but I watched most of it with Korean subs so got that practice done.
Graduation, Present + Propose
Country: South Korea
Release Dates: May 10, 2021
Dates Watched: Feb 23, 2022
Rating: 7/10
Watched Via: Strongberry Youtube
General Thoughts: The title is actually Graduation, Present + Confession. The above is more like "Hold My Hand" but they mean fairly the same thing whereas a Confession is very different from a Proposal
Bro every time Mina was doing aegyo or being pouty or drunkly rambling my smile just got wider and wider. They're sooooo cute and endearing, my girls T.T
I usually think 12 episodes is too long for a series but I would pay to watch 12 1 hour long episodes of these two, it's so askl;dfjasdklfjsdf
The fact that we'll never know more of their story is like... actually upsetting sorta lol how did I get so attached in 6 minutes omfg. I want to know what Mina wrote in that note, I want to know how they keep in touch while Jiyeong is in college, I want to see whether Mina gets into the same university and how they deal with the changes.
If I had time or energy to write fanfiction...
You Make Me Dance
Country: South Korea
Release Dates: Feb 26, 2021 - Mar 19, 2021
Dates Watched: Feb 24 - Feb 25, 2022
Rating: 5/10
Watched Via: Viki
General Thoughts: I didn't go into this with any expectations and thus no expectations were met or disappointed lol. I didn't hate anything about this (some things made me roll my eyes but that happens with most shows, even ones I love) but also I didn't really love any aspect. Nothing stood out for me, except maybe Shi On the main character but not enough for it to be significant or for me to remember him beyond while I'm watching him on screen. All in all, it was fine.

Please Tell Me So
Country: South Korea
Release Dates: Oct 8, 2021
Dates Watched: Feb 26, 2022
Rating: too short to rate but maybe 5.5/10
Watched Via: Strongberry Youtube
General Thoughts: Cute. I liked the vibe of it, which is that there wasn't really a vibe to it lol It felt real somehow? The very end was scenic and they were going for a vibe with the music but like when they were smoking cigarettes or talking by the river, it felt tangible somehow. Anyway, short and sweet; nothing much to say beyond that.

Dates Watched: Feb 27 - Feb 28, 2022
Rating: 6/10

General Thoughts: It was cute. I really liked Sangha and I liked how the audience and Jin Won both knew about his feelings. I wish they didn't make the loan shark stuff be So Serious (esp because they were used as comedy in other parts) because it felt jarring compared to the rest of the show. Overall quite enjoyed it.

Binge
I often try to watch multiple BLs from the same country at once bc I think it helps me be more immersed. Right now I'm watching Korean shows, so for March I'll start with Korean and then probably go to Thailand to watch On-Air shows that are finishing.

axelle judges non bl shows > I Hate You, I Love You
summary: A suspense and mature drama about five different people and how their lives get intertwined by a twist of fate and jealousy. Some of them will soon learn what it is like to get betrayed by a friend and to betray... all while trying hard to get what they want the most - love.
grade: 8,5/10
pros:
- the cast. I mean... Jaylerr, Punpun, Fon, Oab, Sky and Praew?? this is just such a good cast and everyone has a role so so so different from their usual ones so if you like any of these actors they are definitely a pro of the show
- the concept of the show. each episode is the same set of events being told with the point of view of one of the main five characters. this plays well with the length of the show because it could get repetitive quickly but because it’s only 5 episodes it’s not. it’s neither too long and too short and each episode unveils a little more of the truth. I really liked it.
- this show is highly entertaining and very bingeable, I mean I watched it in a few hours one night and I feel like it’s just perfect to watch like a movie in one go
- the acting is really good and the actors managed to convey the message of the show in a great way. for me Oab and Sky got the most interesting roles, and even Fon was completely transformed in that role! once again if you’re a fan of any of the main actors I would really recommend watching this show because they all deliver really good performances!
cons:
- because the characters are so bad in terms of morals and actions and we learn of Nana’s death in the first episode, there’s kind no stakes in watching the show. you’re still curious about how the events unfurled but I feel like the show could’ve been a solid 9/10 if they had changed when we learn of Nana’s death and also made the characters have a lot more good sides to them so we’d feel more empathetic towards their struggles
would I rewatch it: probably not because it’s the kind of show that rely on suspense and when you know everything it kinda makes it impossible to enjoy a rewatch fully
