“He’s not imaginary,” Buck responds with a slight frown, “he’s sitting right here. And,” he pouts in Maddie’s direction, unhappy with the way she stifles a laugh behind her hand as if he’s making this all up, “I don’t know his name because he can’t talk.”

“Why can’t he talk?” Maddie asks, indulging him.

Buck just shrugs his shoulders as he sucks on his popsicle. He curls away from her, knees pulling up to his chest.

“Hey,” Maddie says softly, “okay, I’m sorry Evan, maybe I just can’t see him like you can.” Blue eyes dart in her direction and she gently smooths back a loose curl that’s fallen over his birthmark. “What does he look like?”

Buck is back to smiling again as he pulls the wooden stick from his mouth. “He kind of looks like me,” Buck says excitedly, “same hair and nose, but he has your eyes.”

Maddie stiffens, her fingers still brushing through the mess of sweaty curls, and she accidentally drops the rest of her popsicle in the dirt. “My eyes?” Her voice is barely above a whisper now and she retreats her hand, pushing forward to look around the tree just to be sure there’s no one there.

“The same color and everything,” Buck continues, but his lips turn down in the corner as he taps his popsicle stick against his chin in thought, “and sad. Sometimes he looks so sad it reminds me of when you’re sad,” he puffs out his cheeks, blowing out a long breath, “I don’t like it when you are sad, Maddie.”

You're a friend of Steve and Robins who work with him at Family Video, At the party you stick close to the two of them, nervous about meeting new people.

Occasionally Eddie manages to catch your eye, he winks at you from where he's sitting, flirts heavily when Robin and Steve introduce you to the rest of the gang.

Seduce and fuck, that's his motto, he's not interested in seeing a woman more than once, and he much prefers the briefest flings if he does. That way no one expects anything more from him.

He doesn't see how tonight will go any different but boy he's in for a surprise. The first surprise is when he asks you out, you look him dead in the eye and smirk.

"Sorry pretty boy, I'm not interested" Eddie's brain goes brrr for a few seconds, he can't remember the last time his flirting attempts failed so spectacularly.

"I uh..." he stumbles over his words, tongue tied and growing frustrated with himself. You take pity on him.

"Look I haven't had sex in like the longest time, I'm horny as shit and even though I say I'm not looking for anything more than some hot sex, we all know someone always catches feelings for their fuck buddy and I'd like to avoid that"

He gapes stunned then recovers. "What a coincidence, I'm just looking for just some hot sex too" you eye him up and down, there's a small smile on your face.

Exactly twenty minutes later the two of you are in Eddie's room, the door locked and the two of you sweaty, naked and fucking each other until you're both spent and sated.

Eddie is lying beside you, his head empty of all thoughts except the fact that you did rock his world, repeatedly. The sex was mindblowing.

You lay with him for a minute before getting up and pulling on your clothes, "Where are you going?" He asked confused as you fix your hair and make up.

The same situation carried on for weeks, the two of you would have sex and it would be incredible but then either one of you would leave.

Whenever that smile was directed at him, it was like his whole heart went pitter patter very fast, he felt like he was a teenager again with his very first crush.

Butterflies, racing heart, sweaty palms, it was humiliating. He hated when some douchebag noticed you, so Eddie left little lovebites on your skin and pleased you for hours if some idiot tried to flirt with you. He liked reminding you that he could pleasure you better than some limp dick asshole.

He loved when you cried out his name, chanted it in sweet, reverent tones.

That's when Eddie came to the conclusion one day when you were laying fast asleep beside him after a long work day and a very hot shower session with him. His conclusion being that finally after all of these years he had met his match.

at first, midori wasn't sure about coming over for the first time. he was nervous. he isn't good with people, let alone, coming over to their house with even more people in it— which are your parents, or siblings, if you have any. either way, he's unsure and is constantly overthinking any possible scenarios that may occur.

after multiple convincing from you, and maybe morisawa (after he overheard you inviting him to come over), midori finally gave in. "i’ll come over after school, i guess…" he sighs, knowing that he can't win against you, or morisawa.

truth is, he also wanted to spend time with you alone. yet, he can't help but still feel nervous. it doesn't help knowing that your parents might be home. what if they don't like him? what if he makes a bad impression and they tell you to break up with him?

"midori—?" your boyfriend snapped out of his thoughts the moment your finger poked his arm. he turned his tired gaze towards you and softly (barely) smiled. "we're here. my parents shouldn't be home until six, so don't worry about it too much, yeah?"

'thank. fucking. god.' he thought. "a-ah.. alright. thanks for inviting me, [name]." you could only smile at his response, gesturing him to come inside once you unlocked the door and stepped inside. "should i leave my shoes here?" midori asked quietly, putting his shoes on the empty space of the shoe rack as you responded with a simple hum.

"you can go in my room, it's the first door down that hall. i'll prepare us some snacks before we study~!" you happily hopped your way to the kitchen, starting to prepare the snacks that you’ve been longing to share with your boyfriend.

oh, the moment midori enters your room, his eyes WIDENED. he's getting excited and felt happiness rush through his veins. 'is this… heaven?' he gushed, walking towards your shelf full of your plushies that couldn’t fit in your bed. "i never knew [name] collected these…" he muttered, still admiring the shelf as he sat down on your bed.

"hm? midori, you like plushies too?" your boyfriend shrieked, a blush creeping up his face. you could only chuckle at his reaction, putting down the tray of snacks on the coffee table in the middle of your room.

"a-ah.. well, uh.." he stammered, avoiding your gaze. this is embarassing… "maybe…" he sighed, shoulders dropping. you let out a small giggle, which made the blush displayed all over his face worsened. "don’t tease me about it too much, please."

you shook your head, grabbing the biggest plushy you had within your collection. "here!" casually, you handed him the soft squishmallow, his eyes widening in surprise. "keep it. consider it… as a welcome gift for coming over~"

midori explodes in happiness as he gently took the plushy from your hands. "really? i can really have this?"

it was adorable, really. you could instantly tell how happy midori had gotten just by giving him the squishmallow. you nod your head. to your surprise, midori flashes you the brightest smile that you had ever seen him make— throwing himself onto you as he grabbed your face with both his hands.

"thank you, [name]! i’ll cherish it forever!"

I'm watching the past GDQ Trauma Center speedruns (notably the all XS New Blood run by Thurler and the any% Under the Knife 2 run by TrjnRabbit) and my Trauma Center brain is going BRRR rn, especially as someone whose fave doctor in the entire franchise is CR-S01...

Trauma Center AU where MC is Zayne's patient and they're infected with GUILT/Neo-GUILT/Stigma/the Rosalia virus. They're desperately trying to stay alive but it's looking bleak, as some of these organisms actively harm the host - especially GUILT, which definitely counts as a bioweapon.

Or...or. Hear me out here. We're entering spoiler territory for the original Under the Knife and its remake Second Opinion so I'll put it under the cut, but imagine...

In the original Trauma Center, there are people known as Sinners, who are human hosts barely kept alive to serve as the breeding grounds for more GUILT cultivation. Canon says they're kids-teens, but what if we tweaked that around for More Pain...

What if our MC is one of those Sinners? Just barely lucid to register Zayne's presence as he desperately tries to keep them alive, using his Healing Touch to freeze their vitals as he treats whatever symptoms the GUILT inflicts onto them, until he finds a cure for the GUILT...

For added pain, I think MC should be a host for Pempti (in-universe, this strain took several separate operations to research and develop a nanomachine to aid in killing it, and it fills the lungs/liver with liquid - until it starts getting attacked, where it'll periodically release tiny organisms to inflict lacerations/create tiny tumors/drain your vitals) or Triti (one of the most annoying strains for players because it will multiply nonstop if not extracted properly, and calcification of organs doesn't sound fun either).

With MC being a host for any of those GUILT strains, the organization behind GUILT, Delphi, has MC's life as a bargaining chip. They use MC's life to basically force Zayne to work for them, otherwise the MC and the other Sinners would be killed. Pressed for time and desperate to save his love, along with realizing he's technically enabling Delphi, Zayne soldiers on through to find a cure...desperately hoping that it won't be too late, that MC will survive - even when all signs point that MC won't survive.

On a more lighthearted note, however...

Imagine MC asking if Zayne can speedrun surgery like these speedrunners, he's going to be so fucking horrified and/or offended LMAO. Mostly because the commentary is funny in the context of speedrunning, but aren't things you want your surgeon to say. Some choice quotes in the GDQ speedruns include:

"(vs the Cheir and Kyriaki dual boss in New Blood) Hey buddy can you make more lacerations? (Cheir makes more lacerations) Thanks!"

"(farming chain on Cheir lacerations, and Cheir is almost dead, still on New Blood) Doctor, please end the operation." "NO."

"So we're going to boost vitals..." "Yeah that's kinda necessary after you put the patient through 7 cardiac arrests..."

"(finishing the first operation in all any% speedruns) This is going to be the last time we're disinfecting the wound before applying the bandage. Gotta go fast!"

"Yeah so we're going to let some of these aneurysms burst..." this happens on almost every any% aneurysm operation, they're so bad i still hate the three patients brain aneurysm stage from Under the Knife 2 to this day. oh also, bringing scalpels to excise aneurysms willy nilly on the brain.

"(vs Brachion X stage, New Blood) There is no chain requirement here so you are allowed to let the toxins reach the end..."

"(vitals at 0, which is technically 0.x ingame, so the patient isn't dead yet) Nice vitals..." "The patient is alive, that's what matters!"

"Okay so ignore the glass shards in the heart for now..."

"Don't ask how an entire ribcage got stuck inside their lung."

"So, we're now operating in the back of a moving car!"

"Ironically, the best way to boost chain is to let your patients suffer."

"Welcome to the anime malpractice simulator!"

"The way to stop his crankiness is to poke him with a scalpel until he stops bleeding. (shrugs) It's medicine."

"Two malpractices make a positive, right?" "Yeahh, but we'll end up in the thousands...don't know where that bounces at."

Zayne left completely dumbfounded by the commentary. "Things you don't want to hear your surgeon say", indeed.

unfortunately i really am head empty no thoughts right now. i just have the photo booth fic and the hunger games au (and the hercules au but no one look at me). ive been struggling to really come up with anything else to write recently.

It'll be when a group of people pass through, you'd be in Bo's garage, acting as Bo's helper, or even at the till, and one of the group's members will come up to you showing interest.

"What's a cute little thing like you, doing in a town like this?" He'll ask, looking you up and down with a little smirk, and you try your hardest not to roll your eyes, and you'll notice Bo's fist tighten when you glance at him.

"Well-" You start, but the man interrupts you before you can finish.

"Whaddya say you get out of this town for a little while, I could give you a ride?" He grins, and you know what he's suggesting.

"Sorry buddy, they're already taken" Bo speaks, and the guy backs up a little, but still looking at you.

"Didn't mean anythin' by it man, we we're just joking around, ain't that right sweetheart?" He winks at you, and you just smile at him, trying to keep appearances up.

A little while later, once Vincent and Bo have picked off the group one by one, you head down to basement under Bo's garage to see what's taking him so long. Where you see the man from earlier, beaten black and blue, tied to the chair.

"Well hey there sweetheart, I was just letting this son of a bitch know that he shouldn't sweet talk someone that don't belong to him, ain't that right" Bo drawls, and the man in the chair lets out an incoherent moan in pain as Bo walks over to you a presses a rough kiss to your mouth.

"Perhaps we should give him a show, that'd show him who you belong too"

Michael Myers:

Michael follows you around to most places that you go whenever he's not out stalking someone. And he's followed you to the store this time, and you can feel him watching you as you load the bags into your car, just as someone walks up to you.

"Well hello there gorgeous, do you need a hand with those bags, they look mighty heavy" And you turn just as the man leans against your car, gesturing to the bags on the floor, you give him a polite smile, grimacing internally.

"Thank you for the offer, but I'm fine, they're not at all heavy" You say, and he frowns slightly.

"Are ya sure? I'm just tryna help" He says, smiling again, and you shake your head, picking up the last few bags and you watch him eyeing you as you did.

"I'm done now anyway" You explain, and he nods.

"Well, can I at least get your number, be a shame to walk away empty handed" He grins, and you shake your head.

"Um, sorry I have a boyfriend" You inform him, heading to the drivers side, wanting to be gone as soon as possible.

"Well at leas take mine" He says, ignoring your comment, as you open the car door, handing you a slip of paper, and you nod, taking it, just wanting to get home.

Michael comes home later that day covered in blood, and you don't notice him in the doorway until you turn, jumping a little when he sees you.

"Jesus, Michael, at least make a bit of noise" You say, laughing slightly, and he walks over to you, holding out his hand, and you look down at it.

The crumbled piece of paper with the mans number on it, now covered in blood.

Thomas Hewitt:

One of the men that Hoyt had brought back to the house had been eyeing you for the past 10 minutes, you'd caught him shamelessly staring at you ass twice, and you knew Thomas had too, he'd given polite smiles and little winks, complimenting your appearance, and the scowl on Thomas' face had gotten deeper with each one.

"What are you doing in a town like this? Ain't you fed up of hanging around here? Can't be much to do in these parts" He says, winking at you.

"There's plenty to do around here, and the weathers always nice" You say, smiling at him.

"Can't be an awful lot to do, if you get me" He says, and you inwardly gag.

"What do you mean?" You ask, acting as if you didn't understand.

"Don't you wanna get out of here and find a partner? Not like you could be dating someone in this town" He laughs, gesturing subtly to Thomas, and you frown.

"I have a boyfriend already, thanks" You say, and look at Thomas, and the man's jaw almost drops.

"You're dating this freak? You're way too hot for him, c'mon, you're joking right" He laughs, and Thomas lunges forward, grabbing the man by the neck, and with a crunch, his body goes limp, and Luda walks in just as it happens.

"I think you better take him down to the basement Thomas, we've spoken about this, I don't want no killing in my kitchen" She scolds, and shakes her head, and he looks at you, and you rub his arm gently, before he picks up the man and heads off.

not sure if you’ve seen the alleged leaks for s2 but that hand holding helaegon crumb made my brain go brrr. now I headcanon that maybe after coronation aegon realizes that there is no escape, no hidden doors to slip away, no evading his responsibilities any longer and that kinda? makes him feel at ease in a weird way? a person with no other choice will not have to carry the burden of “what if”? and once his fate has been sealed, the feeling of dreading the only choice (becoming king) is lifted? he cannot do anything but comply and play the part? the shit has hit the fan and he has to step up and defend his family? strangely easy for him to do now. i think he had this realization that he is defeated, he cannot live the life he wants but in order to keep living, he needs to mold into the cast that has been chosen for him. that is the only way. and he is numb, robotic but he is doing it. and i imagine that instead of going full maegor and being a little shit high on power trips, he actually starts to care - about alicent, aemond, daeron and helaena. that is a man that pulls teary eyes at aemond when he leaves for a dragon fight because he is afraid aemond is not coming back. he is actively listening to his mom who helps him manage the war. he is buddy buddy with criston because he recognizes his talents in battle. he even tolerates otto because he needs his political expertise. and finally, he comes to treat helaena with a little bit of gentleness, looks out for her and their children in his own awkward its-too-late way. i don’t think a little bit of pulled-my-shit-together aegon would be too far fetched as he is going to be the person who fiercely and willingly goes to battle in order to protect his family.

like this would be a more sympathetic take on his character, maybe someone the audience can feel some sympathy for. and i kinda dig that.

i haven't seen any of the leaks tbh. i literally do not interact with the fandom outside of the people i follow/am mutuals with. i don't even look for anything about the show outside of tumblr so i don't even know where to find them? lol. so you're going to have to tell me what the context is for the hand holding.

as for the rest of your ask, i definitely agree that it is a much more sympathetic arc that he could possibly take. i don't think your idea is outlandish with what we got in s1. but like when i say what we got, i really just mean tgc's acting choices because what was written, unfortunately, doesn't lend itself super well to your idea. i think if the show's writing had gone with the maester image of aegon ii instead of the mushroom version then there would be a much stronger chance of them going this route. because yes he still drinks and whores and indulges but like at the same time he does go to bat to fight for his family as you said.

it'll definitely be interesting to see what s2 gives us that's for sure.

Gencon Thots

Now that I’ve mostly recovered from the Backstreet Boys Reunion Tour I wanted to post some thots I had regarding games I discovered at gencon!

So I used to collect pokemon cards. Im a longtime mtg player. When I heard Disney was asking Ravensburger to make a tcg I was curious. To do the equivalent of sticking my head around the corner I entered a Lorcana learn to play.

Good god was this game popping off at gencon. Every game was full and every morning the booth sold out. There’s a ton of speculative hype surrounding the game right now.

In Lorcana we are illumineers painting Characters with Ink who will generate Lore. The first player to generate 20 Lore wins. Characters have a power, health, and amount of lore they generate as stats with an Ink cost, whether or not the card can be played as Ink, and any abilities the card may have.

On your turn you may reveal a card with that gold swirl around the cost and play face down as Ink (lands). There is no colors, Ink is Ink, and a deck can contain no more than 2 colors of Ink at a time.

Characters cannot Exert (tap) the turn you play them, “the paint has to dry”. Once the paint dries you can Exert your Character. They can Exert to generate Lore equal to the pen pips on the right of the text box (Tinkerbell here makes 1 lore). You can also Exert a Character to Challenge an Exerted Character (you cannot Challenge an unExerted Character). Challenge is fighting, each Character deals damage equal to their power. Damage does not wear off, meaning you can’t unendingly use one beater to stomp thru your opponent’s deck.

There are also Songs. Songs are special Actions that can be played using our already played Characters. So timing my plays right I could play a Character with a cost of 5. On my next turn I could Exert them to play Let it Go for free, play an Ink, and play a 6 cost Character playing 11 Ink worth of stuff for 6. Its a really neat idea.

I feel Lorcana has a lot of good ideas and takes away a lot of what feels bad about mtg. In doing so I think it also takes away some of what people like.

The ink system is great. Manascrew isnt really a thing in this game. That your cards (and not all of them) can be played as Ink or for its cost is fascinating. I bounced my opponent’s smaller Character and he played it as Ink to play his larger cost Character. You end up making more decisions about who to use as Ink and who to play, and it opens up deckbuilding to more fun options.

Not being able to touch your opponent’s stuff (for the most part) is also a polarizing thing. I like that I know I can use my dudes before they get picked. Some people might hate that they have to wait.

I like that its a race to generate Lore rather than having another slugfest. It makes the game feel unique and Lore generation as a stat adds more dimension to what cards can do.

One of the biggest, most polarizing points of the game for players will be that there are no Instants. There is no play-response system in this game. The only time you interact with your opponent’s turn is if they trigger your ability during their turn. Otherwise you do not interact with your opponent’s turn.

I did not enjoy the starter decks. I steamrolled my opponent every game. My buddy got steamrolled every game. Thats 4 decks with 4 games and 2 were clearly stronger than the other 2. I don’t feel the starter decks did a good job balancing the different colors and showcasing what they do. My opponent had gray and yellow, idk what they do bc I dunked on every dude he tossed out. Then what I played he couldn’t touch. It was a hot mess and I think they did a poor job constructing entry level lists meant to be played against each other in a paid event.

Otherwise I felt the game was fine enough. Unique enough not to just be a mtg clone, has some mechanics that make my brain go brrr, but I feel its a tcg with bumpers on it. Its very safe in the experience it delivers and bc of this you can often forecast the next 2-3 turns and you can tell you’ve lost and just have to wait for the loss to take place. Its not a game I’m interested in buying myself but if my bud wanted to go to an event or play with decks they made I’d def be down as a friend activity.
