The demon Bull family is sooo fucking funny cause they didn't have a redemption arc, they had a common sense arc. Like they didn't become better people, they saw their strongest member get possessed by a long asleep evil, nearly kill all of them, and literally just went "Yeah world domination is not worth it, this is well above our pay grade, let's open a barbeque stand or some shit."

The one next to Bull Demon King is Princess Jade Face
I've been reading <Journey to the West> lately, and the Princess Iron Fan looked so miserable.😣

What Does Red Boy Look Like?
I've written an article about Red Boy's (Honghai’er, 紅孩兒) description in Journey to the West for the benefit of artists and cosplayers. Fans of Lego Monkie Kid can compare it to the design for Red Son.

Ranking The Brotherhood on how good with kids I think they are.
(Listen my homework is depressing me and I want a break so here we go)
No. 1: Demon Bull King: Listen it’s not just because he’s a Dad™️ ok! You cannot convince me otherwise that he didn’t spoil the ever loving heck outta Red Son as a baby. He loved that little boy and would not hesitate to slaughter anyone who dared even looked at his son the wrong way. Sure, nowadays he has a few missteps but the love and care is still present. He’s not perfect but he’s the best of them all. 9/10—He stumbles a bit but he means well.
No. 2: Six-Eared Macaque: He’s the Go-To Babysitter and the Designated Driver™️ of the Brotherhood. He will care for any child if he needs to. Sure he might just feed them junk food or frozen stuff but hey, that’s better than nothing. He’s the Fun Uncle and kids just flock to him. 8/10—He tells really great bedtime stories too.
No. 3: Yellow-Tusk the Wise: He’s the standard. He’ll make sure the kids are fed, clean, and content but his idea of a “fun, engaging activity” is reading the Dictionary and discovering new words or something. If you need a babysitter fast he’s your reluctant go-to. 6/10—The kids will be asleep when you get home on account of how boring he was!
No. 4: Azure Lion: He’s not that great with young kids but the older they get the easier it is for him. He can talk to them more easily. He will not know what to do with a baby. He will hold it at arms length and just be terrified out of his mind. But he will also try to speak all “hip” to the older kids and fail spectacularly. 5.5/10—He definitely pronounces Meme as Me-Me.
No. 5: Golden-Winged Peng: I know in the OG Journey to the West they have a nephew—but would you let them around your nephew? They laughs anytime the kid falls over and has insulted several children to their faces. And that’s the easy stuff. 3/10—They May or May Not have dropped a kid once and it May or May Not have been an accident.
No. 6: Sun Wukong: What is wrong with you?! You trust this absolute disaster of an immortal with your children?! Do you hate your children or something? He’s never known illness or the true concept of death so what’s he going to do. He won’t actively try and kill the kid but man he doesn’t have to he’s that bad. 1/10—The other Monkeys on FFM are alive today because of pure instinct and little to no input from this monkey and no one can convince me otherwise.

Okay, so I was reading up on Chinese mythology here and found something amazing.
Tumblr media
Way, WAAAAAAY back in the day there were 5 emperors, the Yellow Emperor, the Red Emperor, the Green Emperor, the Black Emperor, and the White Emperor who were really important to the foundations of the world and stuff. Some people may know the Yellow Emperor as the first emperor of China, but I'm here to talk about his half-brother the Red Emperor, or the Fiery Emperor. He's described as having "the head of an ox and the body of a human being" and is known for having "taught mankind how to control and make constructive use of fire through forging."
Now, who do we know from LMK that's associated with oxen/BULLS and FIRE? The Demon Bull Family! Specifically DBK and Red Son. Now, I have not found ANY evidence to support the idea that DBK and the Red Emperor have ANY connection, BUT I do think it is a really cool idea that maybe DBK is descended from the Red Emperor somehow and that's how Red Son ended up inheriting really strong fire powers: being the descendent of the primordial god of fire will do that to you. Red Son could also be the reincarnation of the Red Emperor or something, and the Samadhi Fire was a power from his last life that he USED to have control over but once he got reborn into a little baby body went COMPLETELY haywire.
Also, as one last bit of irony, due to being an agricultural diety and helping the common folk improve their lives through better farming practices, the Red Emperor gained the epithet "The Divine Peasant." It's just too perfect, I had to share
BTW, the book is available at Barnes & Noble

Sun Wukong Inspired Character
This character comes from the sonic universe comics. In the accurately named “Journey to the East”
Tumblr media
Name: Monkey Khan
"He is a Mobian Chinese Monkey."
He lived in a village of pacifists his original name was Ken Khan. he wears a power ring headband meant to look like the fighting band of JTTW. He wields a powerful staff and rides on a cloud which sounds just like another monkey we know.
Tumblr media
He once had a boisterous nature and did not fit in with his pacifist village. He had a father Lord Lau Khan. He survived roboticization because of this he was sealed in a metal crate. He was then released by Sally Acorn.
Similar to Monkey King being sealed under the Five Faces mountain. When he became robotized he gained red glowing eyes like when Wukong came out of the furnace.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Abilities: Enhanced Strength, Enhanced durability, enhanced speed, lighting bolt direction, nimbus summoning, martial arts, staff fighting.
He has some burst of villance and anger. He has trouble controlling himself. With little care id he scored or hurt others.
He, Sonic, Tails, and Sally go on the journey to gather enough forces to go against the Iron Queen and King which are similar to Iron Fan and Bull King.
Iron Queen:
Tumblr media
She is meant to represent Iron Fan as the antagonist. But she is different of course from the original as in there is no love between her and Bull King and she has an affair with Snivley.
Tumblr media
But there are simularlities.
"The Iron Queen set Mount Stormtop on fire for over a hundred days and would not lift the spell until the villagers agreed to bow down to them. Sonic and Tails were told by Li Yuen that only the magical Fan of Fen Xing could blow out the flames on the mountain."
Tumblr media
This is similar to the Firey Mountains story of JTTW except she made the fire.
Iron King:
Tumblr media
A mobian ox who has an affinity for collecting weapons. He was completely, unaware of his wife's plans to cut him out of the picture and rule alongside her new love, Snively. Which I feel like this might be a reverse of JTTW's event of Bull King and Jade Face.
Extra Notes:
His name Ken Khan is meant to reference King Kong.
Sally During the Journey acted like Triptiak keeping Khan calm and being his conscious. But that is where the similarities end because the two became an item.
Tumblr media
This is an old character design of him where there is more Wukong reference.
Tumblr media
My favorite Comic Dub of this monkey.

Thank you for reading and enjoying :)

I was wondering if you have any knowledge on both the Bull Demon King's steed, The Water Repelling Golden Crystal Beast, and his brother the Immortal Ruyi. I read that they both exist in JTTW but I can't find much information about them at all beyond that and I was curious to know more if you knew anything about them?
The Bull Demon King's steed, the "Water-Repelling, Golden-Eyed Beast" (Bishui jinjing shou, 辟水金睛獸; a.k.a. Jinjing shou, 金睛獸, "Golden-Eyed Beast"), appears in chapters 60 and is referenced in chapters 61 and 63. It is never described, and I don't believe that it appears in any other chapters. The only things we know are: 1) It can freely travel through water; 2) It will let anyone ride it. For instance, Sun Wukong hops on it without first magically disguising himself; and 3) It has a carved saddle.
The picture below is just an artist's interpretation. It looks like a mix between a dragon and a lion.
Tumblr media
As for the Bull Demon King's brother, the "True Immortal Compliant" (Ruyi zhenxian, 如意真仙), I write about his arc here:
