idk why you would follow me when your blog is mostly caroline/kl@roline i have been SO clear
but anyways. i’m not petty enough to reblog the gifset because it was obviously pro caroline but it was basically a side by side of bonlena vs carolena after elena turned her humanity on
and how elena was nicer to bonnie / didn’t apologize to care and said she was a repulsive blood sucking control freak monster and care asked if she meant it and. if she don’t i do. idc! she was funny for that. someone deserved to flame caroline’s ass anyway she regularly said offensive shit with her humanity fully intact and was a shit friend idk why y’all think she deserves the same treatment bonnie does from elena (and y’all can’t keep acting like bonnie gets good treatment in the first place LMFAO). from jump bonnie and elena were best friends who put up with caroline (because she was annoying! and shallow! and petty! and made her insecurity everybody else’s problem!) and just because caroline got better that doesn’t mean they’re suddenly just as close to her. not to mention this was post caroline telling stefan that she PROMISED elena she would not. caroline is not a good friend to anyone but stefan and idk what brain worms y’all got that makes you think otherwise

Drunk Words Are Sober Thoughts
kai parker x reader
summary:  of course, on the night all your friends are hooking up, you get too drunk to take yourself home. walking home at night, drunk, and in mystic falls is not something on your bucket list, and to make matters worse, you can't help but feel a pair of eyes on you from a distance. so, feeling desperate, you call the contact given to you "for emergencies only," and hope that he shows.

You lean against the brick wall, exhausted and tipsy from alcohol consumption. You’re not ‘tripping over your own feet’ drunk, but definitely ‘shouldn’t drive’ drunk. The plan was to stay in the bar until you sobered up, but then Liv started kicking everyone out when the frat boys were becoming too rowdy, leaving you by yourself to make it home. She didn’t know that, of course, so you don’t blame her, but you can’t help but be a little upset by the decision. A bar that advertises to be open late should be open late, right?
Groaning, you check the time. It’s a little after midnight. Okay, so I guess it is late. Still though, you’re irritated. You walked here in the daytime, and now at night, you have to walk back. You look down the long alleyway, preparing yourself, when suddenly a shadow moves at the end of the street. Did I imagine that? The hairs stand up on the back of your neck, and a chill goes down your spine. An unsafe feeling surrounds you, anxiety making your throat feel tight. Pulling out your phone, you scroll through your contacts for help.
“Elena’s with Damon, Caroline’s with Stefan, Bonnie’s with Jeremy, ugh! All my friends decided to hook up tonight!” You bite your lip. This is why you went out in the first place. “Okay, think: who can I call? Just to walk me home; just to feel a bit safer…” The longer you stand there, the more anxious you feel - as if the shadow’s watching, or planning an attack. “Shit, is this stupid?” You mutter out loud, finger hovering over a certain contact.
Kai Parker.
Stefan had you save the witch’s number for emergencies only. He was very specific about never contacting him unless you were desperate.
You catch another glimpse of the shadow. “Pretty damn desperate right now.” Swallowing hard, you press the call button. The boy picks up after only two rings.
“To what do I owe the pleasure of getting to hear your voice?”
“Are you busy?” Your voice is shaky, but disguising it right now sounds impossible.
“Why? Are you okay? Do you need help?”
The concern in his tone shocks you, “I-um, can you walk me home?”
“Of course. Where are you?”
“Scull Bar. In the alley out back.”
“Oh, princess, not the alley. You have to get out, and preferably close to a door.”
The pet name gives you butterflies, but you can’t focus on that right now, “but the bar is closed.”
“Doesn’t matter, you’ll still be at least a little safer.”
“Okay, I’ll try. But Kai?”
“Yes?”
“I think, um, I think someone’s watching me. I can’t tell. I’m scared.”
“I’ll be right there, I promise.”
“Okay.”
Terrified, you count the seconds until his arrival in your head. You did manage to move to the entrance of the alley, but a rustling made you stop dead in your tracks. It’s like a stand-off between you and the mysterious figure, though whatever, or whoever it is, has the upper hand.
“Oh my god, please hurry,” you whine to yourself. Maybe he’s not coming, a part of you thinks. No, he sounded truthful on the phone. But it’s Kai, the voice argues back. “Shit!” You curse, hearing more noise even closer than before.
“Hey, hey, you okay?” At the same time a new voice comes through, you feel hands on your shoulders, moving you further from the darkness. You scream, and the hands leave you instantly. “Shit, I’m sorry. I shouldn’t’ve touched you without asking, but I wanted to grab you before it did.”
“Kai?”
“Yeah, it’s me. Are you okay? Are you hurt?”
“No, but I’m really scared!” Usually you’d try to hide your vulnerabilities around people like Kai, but right now, you’re too damn terrified.
“Okay, I know. It’s okay. You’re safe with me. Come with me, alright? I’m gonna take you home.” Slowly, he puts his hands back on your shoulders and guides you towards the streetlight. “Do you see me?”
“Uh huh,” you say, trying to not cry.
“Okay, good girl. Can I take you home? You shouldn’t be out here alone this late.”
“Please. I’m here,” you show him your address, which you typed out on a notes app on your phone.
“Okay, let’s get you home. Take a deep breath for me?” He guides you through a couple breaths, and then finally gets you to start walking in the direction of your house. “Do you want me to call a cab or just walk?”
“I’m not far, I’m okay to walk as long as you stay,” you say in between hiccups.
“I’m not leaving you, I promise. We can walk.”
You immediately reach for his hand. The initial contact is electrifying, and you both pull back. “I’m sorry.”
“You’re okay. I’m sorry, too, I wasn’t expecting that.”
“I’m sorry,” you say again, for catching him off guard.
“Don’t apologize, princess. Here,” slowly, he takes your hand in his own, “okay?”
“Yes. Thank you. Makes me feel safer.”
Something in him suddenly wants to kiss you, but he holds back. “Good,” he says instead, “I hope you do. I want you to feel safe with me.”
“You always make me feel safe, Kai. I’ve just never been brave enough to talk to you. You’re kinda intimidating.”
Kai’s heart aches. All he wanted for nearly twenty-two years was to have his family intimidated enough that they’d treat him as an equal. But now, all he wants is to fit in with the people of Mystic Falls. Not doing a great job there, are you, Kai? A voice in his head says.
“Because I mean,” you then continue, “you’re really, really hot, and really, really powerful.” Your words are slurring, but he can hear you well enough, “and Damon always tells me not to talk to you, and the only reason I have your number is because Stefan gave it to me for emergencies. And I even asked myself if calling you was a bad idea, because a part of me didn’t think you’d show, but still, I really, really wanted you to, because I want to like you, Kai. I can tell you’re trying to be better, but they’re being asses. And I wish I could talk to you soberly about this kinda stuff, but I just can’t because you’re too cute. That’s why you’re intimidating to me - you’re too cute for me to talk to. Anyway, thank you for saving me, because I was really scared and all my friends are hooking up right now.”
Kai tries to ignore everything you had just drunkenly admitted, and instead focuses on your last few words, “of course, princess. I would never let you get hurt.”
“Princess,” you mutter, “why do you call me that?”
You’re drunk. You won’t remember this conversation. It’s okay to indulge.
“Because I think you’re cute, too, Y/N. I like you. You actually see that I’m trying to be better, and you treat me fairly.”
You walk in front of him, then begin walking backwards, dragging him along, “I like you, too, Kai. I like you a lot.” You put a finger on his nose, then trail it down his lips and chin. “And you have soft lips.”
He chuckles, but then physically moves your body so that you’re beside him again. He mutters something like, don’t want you to blindly run into something, and you immediately comply. “Thank you, Y/N. Is this your house?”
You stop and turn to face the house in front of you. “When did we get here?”
“We’ve been walking for a bit, cutie.”
“Oh. Wow. Yeah, I’m here. My dead parents’ house that I’ve inherited. Goody. Can you come in? Or are you busy?”
“I’m not busy.”
“Good, because I really don’t want to be alone right now.” You pull him up the porch steps and towards your door. “And like I said, you make me feel safe.”
“As long as you’re okay with it, I’ll come in with you.”
“Please, Kai. And if you want, I can find a mattress or a spare set of sheets for the spare room. Or there’s the couch, or you could even sleep with me, just please don’t leave!”
“I’m not going anywhere if you don’t want me to, princess.”
“Okay. Good. Um, thank you.” You bring him through the door, hands still on him, but now grasping his jacket. “Do you want the guest room? Or the couch?”
“I’m good anywhere you’d like. But can I get you a glass of water first?”
“Okay, sure. I’ll prepare the guest room for you.”
“Hey, wait, Y/N?”
“Yeah?”
“Don’t bother with that, I’m fine on the couch.”
“You sure?”
“Yeah, I’m good. You need to get some rest. Here, drink this.”
“Okay.”
Twenty minutes later, Kai finally gets you in your bed, changed and ready. You gave him a spare pair of clothes and a toothbrush, too, and when he thinks you’re asleep, he gets ready for bed himself and settles down on the couch. Though only three minutes later, the stairs creak with the sound of you coming down them.
“You okay?” He looks over to find you wrapped in a blanket - the one he just tucked you in with - and staring at him, tooth resting on your lip.
“Can I sleep down here with you?”
Kai hesitates, but ultimately decides to let his feelings win. If comfort is what you need, then it’s what he’ll give you. “Of course.”
“Thank you,” you murmur, crawling onto the couch beside him. “You’re as soft as you look.”
“Thank you, princess. Go to sleep.”
“Okay.”
◇◇◇◇
“You called Kai?!” Elena’s voice rings through the phone, disbelief in her tone.
“Everyone else was busy fucking, I didn’t know what else to do! Stefan gave me his number for emergencies.”
“Emergencies are like dangerous situations, Y/N! Like, in desperate need of a witch and Bonnie’s not available!”
“Well I was in a dangerous situation, and desperate, and I didn’t know who else to call!”
“Why would you even go out alone?”
“Because I was bored, Elena! Everyone was hooking up, and I needed to do something.”
“Where is he now, Y/N? Is he gone? Did he leave after taking you home?”
“No, he’s making me pancakes.”
“What?!”
“I invited him in, and he slept on my couch, and now he’s making me pancakes.”
“Y/N! W-”
You cut her off, “I was really scared last night and he came to my side immediately. Then he walked me home, and was respectful the whole time and the whole night. And I was upset when I woke up and he wasn’t there, but he was just in the kitchen making coffee.”
“When he wasn’t there?! Y/N, what are you saying?”
“It’s no big deal, Lena, we only snuggled. I didn’t want to be alone.”
“That is big deal! You could’ve gotten hurt!”
“I would’ve gotten more hurt if I didn’t call Kai. But I did, and now I’m safely at home instead of dead in a ditch somewhere. And now, I’m gonna eat his pancakes, because he’s an amazing cook.”
“Y/N, don’t-”
But you hang up.
“Sorry you had to listen to that,” you grimace. Your phone was on speaker because your hangover headache was too strong to have Elena yelling in your ear.
“It’s okay. I know how they feel about me. No use in covering it up.”
“If it’s any consolation, I don’t feel that way. As in, the way they do. And I know I was drunk off my ass last night, but I remember the things I told you.”
Kai turns off the stove and looks at you, fear apparent in his eyes.
However, you crush his fear immediately, “I meant every word. You do make me feel safe, and I do enjoy being around you. You are really, really cute, and hot, and I wish I had the courage to tell you those things without getting drunk or hungover.”
“Wait, really?” There’s a blush on his cheeks that doesn’t go unnoticed.
“Yeah… is that okay?”
The boy puts a stack of pancakes - decorated in strawberries and whipped cream - in front of you, then rests his elbows on the counter. “Perfectly okay. Like I said last night, I want you to feel safe around me, and I really do like you, Y/N.”
It’s your turn to blush now, along with a giggle, and soon you’re embarrassed, covering your face with your hand.
“Oh, don’t get shy on me now, princess! Look at me.”
You do, and immediately he boops your nose with his index finger. It’s cold, though, and you look down at your nose, and then at his finger, and realize there’s a dab of whipped cream on it.
“Kai!” You laugh more, swiping it off your nose and sucking your finger clean. “You’re such a goof!”
“I just like seeing you smile,” he admits.
“I know something that’d really make me smile, if you’re up for it.”
“And what’s that?”
“Kiss me.”
He goes quiet for a second, comprehending what you just said. His eyes search for hesitancy in yours, wondering if you had meant to ask that.
“You don’t have to-”
He cuts you off by reaching across the counter and grabbing your face in his hands. He’s gentle, though passionate, as he does, and his kiss is just the same.
“Another thing I was right about last night: you do have soft lips.” He smiles again, but when he pulls away, you point at his chest. “You’ve got whipped cream on your shirt!”
Looking down, Kai laughs at the dollop visible on his clothes. “Ah, nothing I can’t just-” and then suddenly it finds its way to your face. Before it reaches your nose again, though, you grab his hand and suck it off.
“Good try!”
“I’ll getcha next time… again! Now eat your pancakes before they get cold, Y/N.”
“Okay. Hey, can you stay longer? Like maybe we eat these, and then we can watch a movie while I fully recover from this hangover?”
“Only if you let me take you on a date when you feel better.”
“Of course!”
“Then yes, Y/N. I’m not going anywhere.”
He takes his own stack of pancakes and sits beside you.
For the rest of the afternoon, you watch movies and talk, until one hour before seven, at which he leaves. Seven on the dot, he’s back at your house, a bouquet of flowers in hand, to whisk you away for the rest of the night.
“Now you don’t have to call me when you’re a little drunk, because I’m already gonna be right here with you.”
“I like the sound of that,” you giggle, cheering a shot to him.

What I’m feeling is real
Pairing: Klaus Mikaelson/Caroline Forbes
Description: Klaus and Caroline sort out their feelings at Damon and Elena’s wedding. Mild angst but fluffy at the end
Warnings: none
Word Count: 1.4k
A/N: Nobody took the cure in this so everyone who was a vampire is still a vampire and alive.
Caroline set the microphone down after giving the maid of honor speech turning to give a teary eyed smile at Elena. It’s been 20 years since Damon and Elena got engaged and after traveling the world they finally cane back to Mystic Falls to have a ceremony with their friends and family. The sound of the doors to the Reception Hall opening caught everyone’s attention. There was a moment when it seemed that time froze as the Mikaelson family walked in. Hope stood from where she was seated next to Josie, confused as to why her family made an appearance at a wedding they sure were not invited to. Damon walked over and questioned their reasons for showing up. Klaus raised his hands in mock surrender and sent him a small smirk. “We just want to say our congratulations. I thought we moved past the whole hating each other thing as we have peacefully coexisted for the last two decades.” Elijah stepped foward handing Damon a small box, a wedding gift. Damon looked back at his wife who gave a small shrug. She did not want any altercations at her wedding and figured it best to just let the family stay. Damon sighed and accepted the gift before walking back to Elena and sitting down. Kol instantly went to Bonnie who pretended to be uninterested in whatever he was saying. Rebekah and Elijah went to the bar and Klaus made eye contact with Caroline. Caroline looked away because she knew that if she looked at him too long she would be overcome with the urge to kiss him and she couldn’t do that. Not in front of everyone. Five years ago she finally decided to contact Klaus and give his promise of forever a chance. For the first three years their relationship was strictly platonic with casual flirting as they both wanted to get to know each other apart from the deep infatuation they already shared. Two years ago they finally made the move and had not looked back. Nobody knew, not even his family. At first they kept it a secret to figure things out without the influence of their peers, after it just became a game of how long they could hide their relationship. At least that is what Klaus considered it. He imagined that they would eventually tell everyone but that is not what Caroline had in mind. She knew what her friends would think of her if she were to be in a public relationship with the original hybrid. Caroline resorted to avoiding Klaus for most of the night dancing with all of her friends for hours. It wasn’t until she was dancing with Stefan when Klaus approached. “Mind if I cut in?” The handsome hybrid interrupted. Stefan glanced at him before letting go of Caroline, promptly ignoring her begging look, he sent her a smirk and a wink. Asshole, Caroline thought. Klaus offered his hand and Caroline took it begrudgingly. “Don’t pretend to be all miserable sweetheart,” he whispered in her ear. A shiver ran down her back and she glared at him but there was no real hate in her eyes. “Who says I’m pretending?” “I can hear your heart racing, which is a sound that I have grown quite familiar with.” Caroline flushed and looked away. “Is there a specific reason as to why you have been ignoring me all evening?” He questioned as he guided her to the rhythm of the slow song. “You know why,” she replied, voice barely above a whisper but he could hear her perfectly as she laid her head on his shoulder. She breathed in his familiar scent, the tension i her shoulders leaving her completely. “They don’t know.” “Then what a more perfect time to bring them up to date.” Klaus waited for her to reply but Caroline stayed quiet. “Love?” She lifted her head and looked him in the eyes. A single look and Klaus knew exactly what she was thinking. “Oh,” was all he managed to say for a while. It wasn’t often that someone succeeded in hurting his feelings and Caroline achieved it with with a single look. She looked away, not bearing to see the hurt in his eyes. “Are you really still worried about what they think of you? Will you let their opinion of you dictate the rest of your life?” Caroline was shocked. It was rare for Klaus to be angry at her. She couldn’t bring herself to reply. “I can’t be your dirty little secret for the rest of eternity. I’m not some lost puppy you can drag around whenever you feel like it.” “Klaus I-“ she didn’t know what she was supposed to say. She thought he was okay with keeping it a secret. “It’s been two years,” he stepped away from her and by this time their conversation had gained the attention of the rest of the attendees. “Make up your mind.” With that said, Klaus turned around and walked out of the hall. Caroline stood in the middle of the dance floor, acutely aware of the looks she was receiving. What was she meant to do? Klaus was right, would she let her friend’s opinion of her dictate her happiness? Because she was happy, for the first time in her life she was actually happy. She’s immortal, she will live for eternity, she had come to terms with that years ago. But she will be damned if that eternity is not spent with Niklaus Mikaelson by her side. She looked around and avoided direct eye contact with everyone until she met Stefan’s eyes. He gave the tiniest nod of his head and she smiled. She ran after Klaus. She saw him walking in the distance “Klaus!” She yelled. He ignored her and kept walking. Now he’s just being petty, she thought. “Nik!” Klaus hesitated. Nik He stopped walking but didn’t turn around, the word still ringing in his head. She called him Nik  He knew he was a lost cause in that moment. Love makes you weak. That is what he told himself for a thousand years, that is the sole reason he survived, he refused to love those outside of his family. He couldn’t love her. He needed to keep walking away. He heard her stop walking a few feet behind him. “Nik please,” she begged him to listen to her and let her explain.  He couldn’t succumb to his desires. Maybe this was a sign. It wasn’t meant to be. But she was begging him to turn around, to give her a chance and he has always been terrible at denying her. He faced her. “What Caroline.” Good, he thought, play the emotionless monster. Now it was her turn to hesitate. Caroline Not Care. Not love. Not sweetheart. Caroline. He hasn’t called her that in two years. She knew every single person inside able to listen to them was doing so. She didn’t let that stop her though. She knew what she wanted now and nothing, not even his extreme pettiness, was getting in her way.  “You’re right,” she started. Klaus raised an eyebrow, asking her to elaborate. “I was letting everyone but myself dictate my happiness. I worry too much about what people will think, I always have, but I don’t care Nik.” She started walking closer to him. “You are my last. You are my eternity. And I am so sorry it took me so long to realize it. I am not scared of you, I don’t think I ever was. I was scared of what I felt, what I felt for you. For the longest time I thought my feelings were not valid, that they were wrong. But they aren’t wrong. I have never felt anything more right than this.” She placed her hands on his cheeks forcing him to look directly at her as she said her next words. “Niklaus Mikaelson I am in love with you.” Klaus felt as if the air had been knocked out of him. They both heard the distant gasps of those in attendance at the wedding but Caroline ignored them. Screw them, she thought. “Say it again.” Klaus’s words came out soft. “What?” “Say it again,” he repeated himself. “I love you.” Caroline smiled at him. Klaus is sure that if he were more in touch with his emotions he would cry tears of joy. He didn’t hesitate to grab her by the waist and crash his lips against hers. He pulled away first leaning his forehead against hers. “Caroline.” He used her given name again but this time was different. He didn’t say it with disdain in a moment of anger. He said it like a prayer, it was a promise. “God I love you.” She let out a small laugh, the biggest smiles taking over both of their faces. They both looked up and met the surprised eyes of their peers. Klaus sent them a wink, picked Caroline up and sped off. He didn’t care if love made him weak because if he is allowed to love Caroline for the rest of his life, then he was okay with being the weakest man alive.

Ramble part 4 for season 1 episode 1. Twenty minutes left to go. The further I get into this I might be braver to move away so much from canon. I don’t really have faith in myself to write these characters but I’m going to try. At least some of them.
As always triggers are tagged if I miss something please tell me.
Word count: 3,085-- longest one yet
Part One Part Two Part Three
@storieswrittcn (Tell me what you think, just don’t kill Caroline yet.)
Tumblr media
Lee was leaning against the lockers, her back and the sole of one converse touching the metal,  when the bell finally rang to dismiss the current class period. There wasn’t any reason to scurry off knowing if a teacher saw her she’d just get into more trouble. The brunette could have just left the building, gone back to the boarding house, but she actually wanted to see what Stefan was going to say. Of course, she didn’t want a lecture but to see him riled up somewhat gave her a thrill. She was bolder than she’d been when they were younger. Seventeen or even eighteen year old Lee wouldn’t have questioned authority like she just had. Seemed dear Stefan was the same.
She’d seen the beginning fires of jealousy spark in his eyes due to the look Elena was giving her. The regret that it hadn’t been him to step up. Little did her brother know he didn’t need to worry. Lee had no interest in the young doppelganger, she was a knock off of the original. That didn’t mean she wouldn’t try to befriend her; out of necessity for what was to come and out of boredom. Besides, the toad needed to be put in his place.
Stefan was one of the first out of the room, his features a mixture of sulking and pure anger. Lee didn’t fear the anger as she might have when she was still human. Her brother gripped her arm above her elbow, his enhanced strength stinging as his fingers dug into her skin. He might be weaker than she was because of his source of blood but that didn’t mean when he was angry his touch wasn’t enough to make her want to hiss. Lee didn’t though, refusing to give him that much satisfaction.
He drug her away from the other prying eye, especially of two specific people, toward their own lockers. “What the hell was that?” Stefan snapped out, not so nicely pushing Lee against the metal.
“Careful,” Lee warned, her own lips starting to curl into a snarl. “Your precious Elena is watching and you wouldn’t want her to start to think you’re violent on top of being a coward would you?” She taunts. Stefan looked from the corner of his eye to see Lee was in fact right. Bonnie and Elena had followed them but stood a few feet away both watching. The older sibling let go of her arm and opened his locker. “All I did was put that ass in his place. He was baiting people, just to belittle them when they failed. You know I can’t stand men like that.”
“You should have just left it. You’re lucky he didn’t do more than kick you out into the hall.” Stefan sighed, trying to pull his temper in.
“Lucky?” Lee asked more than amused. “Why? Because I was stirring things up? Please, Stefan. Me acting like a rebellious, disrespectful sixteen year old is not what Zach was talking about last night.” She rolls her eyes, “Don’t hide behind excuses like you always do.”
Stefan slammed his locker closed, eyes narrowed at Lee who didn’t back down. “I don’t hide behind excuses.” The vampire ground out between clenched teeth.
“You do and you always have,” She took a small step closer, “Just as you’ve let the words of others guide your actions.” Excluding when you were a ripper, Lee thinks.
“You’re just as bad as Damon.” Stefan looks her up and down, “Why did I think asking you for help was a wise decision?”
She’s about to tell him she’s more than likely worse than their elder brother when a throat clears behind them. Lee looks past Stefan’s shoulder to see Elena standing there with Bonnie. The young witch is giving Stefan a distrustful look while Elena seems almost hesitant to interrupt, books tucked tightly against her chest. “Hey,” Lee exhales, moving from the lockers to stand closer to the two girls.
“Hey,” Elena says tucking some hair behind her ear. “I just--well, we really--wanted to say thank you.”
“What you did was pretty badass. I don’t think anyone has ever tried to take Mr.Tanner down a few pegs like that.” Bonnie gives Lee her attention.
Lee knows Stefan is hating the attention she’s getting, to be honest, she’s not enjoying it either. “You don’t have to thank me. He was pushing my buttons. His last gibe was just too much of a low blow to ignore. People like him piss me off.” Lee explains, “I would have done it even if his words hadn’t been directed at either of you.” She shrugs trying to brush the compliments off.
“Right,” Bonnie gives her a smile that is supposed to be knowing but couldn’t be farther from the truth.
“You’re still coming to the falls tonight, right?” Elena asks almost hopefully.
“We are,” Stefan finally cuts in. Both girls look at him before waiting on Lee to answer.
“I told Caroline I’d be there, I try to always keep my word.” Lee adjusts the satchel over her shoulder.
“And Caroline is the only reason you’re going?” Bonnie asks. She’s as much trouble as Emily was, Lee can just feel it.
“More like for a beer and some music,” Lee counters. The brunette purposely grabs the strap of her satchel that’s across her chest with her left hand, hoping the two will see her daylight ring and take a damn hint. If they see it, they don’t say anything. The warning bell for next period rings out. “And with that, I’m off to art. I’ll see you all later.”
-----
Lee can’t remember the last time she’d been to the falls and she didn’t think it had ever been for a party. With her cell phone in hand, the vampire looked through her closet once more. She wasn’t exactly wanting to draw attention to herself, more because yet again another day had gone by without Katherine replying. Lee knew it wasn’t because she was in danger. Niklaus was far enough from New York that it wasn’t a worry. No, her lover’s silence was likely due to the joke of a June wedding. It was only a seven hour drive from their loft in New York to Mystic Falls, Lee could only hope Katherine wasn’t planning on showing up this early.
But if she did, Lee didn’t want the attention of three teenage girls or more on her. “Presentable but understated,” She mutters, free hand reaching for a pair of darker gray skinny jeans tossing them on the bed behind her. “Not Daddy but not a slob.” Her eyes scanned her tops, grabbing a lighter grey tank top paired with a black and grey flannel. “Maybe a little daddy…” Lee can’t help the snort of laughter that follows. Katherine knew who she’d chosen to spend eternity with. She tosses the shirts back onto the bed also. “Shoes…” Lee wasn’t going to ruin a pair of converse just to get to the falls, “Maybe something a little less teenager….” She grabs a slimmer pair of black suede Timberland boots. “Perfect.”
-----
The music hit her ears before they could truly see the group of teenagers, “Aren’t they worried they’re going to get caught?” She questioned but didn’t expect an answer from Stefan. He’d been broody the rest of the day since their scene in the hallway. “Oh come on, you can’t ignore me forever.” Still nothing. “Just tell her, I’m not who she thinks I am. Not a lie,” Lee moves to walk backward so she can look at her brother. “Tell her, I’m an ass.” She holds up one finger, “That I’m...arrogant.” Another finger. “That I have too many walls to break down, that I’m already in a committed relationship.” Two more fingers. “Oh! If you really want to stop her, tell her that I still suck my thumb.” That caused a smile to start at the corners of his lips, “Still suck your thumb?”
“I don’t but she doesn’t need to know that.” Lee shrugs, she paused for him to catch up and linked their arms together. “I’m not Damon, Stef. I don’t want your girl. I have my own and I’d die before I ever thought of cheating on her.” Either by her own hand or Katherine’s.
“When am I going to meet this woman that’s stolen your heart?” Stefan asks, “It’s been how many decades now?”
“You might sometime soon. But for now, she stays a mystery.” Lee tells him. “Our family and loved ones don’t mix.”
----
They finally made it toward the picnic area, students everywhere. Lee un-linked her arm from Stefan’s to avoid being hit by an over enthusiastic jock who clearly was already three sheets to the wind. She looks around, taking it all in, briefly wondering what it would have been like to grow up like this. Her aunt used to say Lee  was a soul gifted long before her correct time. The brunette could see herself here, with these teens-- not worrying about running, family feuds that lasted over a century. This could have been her time. But it just hadn’t been. She swallows roughly, she’d been born when she had been so she could be on that train in 1862. She had to believe that. The alternative was depressing.
Stefan came to a stop, Lee knew what he was doing and used her own hearing to try and find someone they’d know. “Just admit it, Elena.” Bonnie’s playful tone fills her ears, Lee taps Stefan’s arm.
“Oh, okay, so he’s a little pretty.” Elena seems to hesitantly admit. Lee turns to her brother with a smirk and an entertained glint in her eyes.
“Seems you’re perfectly fine in her eyes,” Lee teases, they both look until they find the girls by a bonfire.
“He has that romance novel stare.” Bonnie argues. Stefan starts to let a smile cross his lips and Lee laughs.
“That’s a new one,” She mutters.
“Stefan looked--” Lee stopped listening with a groan as Stefan’s smile grew.
“And now I need something stronger than beer.” Stefan pushed her side lightly. “Come on lover boy, stop listening and start living.” He starts to follow after her when Caroline jumps in front of them.
“Hey, you made it!” Lee can see the joy in her eyes, over which one of them she isn’t sure yet. But the blonde is happy to see them.
Lee gives her a friendly smile, small nod of her head, her hands moving to tuck into her back pockets. “Yeah.”
“I did.” Stefan tells her, his own small smile on his lips, hands moving into his front pockets. They aren’t siblings at all.
“Well, let’s get you a drink.” Her attention solely on Stefan. Lee knows a train wreck is about to happen. Can see the gears turning in Stefan’s head about how to get out of this. Lee only prays he uses a little tact for this.
“Well, I’m---” He tries to start.
“Oh, come on.” She grabs his hand from his pocket to tug him off. Stefan looks at her almost helpless.
“Rather you than me,” Lee mouths she can’t hide her mirth at the situation, but follows after them. Really just to find the drinks.
She’s only a few steps behind them when she feels the air change, almost as if it’s electrically charged. Lee knows that feeling all too well, magic; uncontrolled, strong magic. The vampire stops, head snapping back to find Bonnie again. The scent feeling her nostrils telling her that it’s from the Bennett line. That kind of magic loose in a crowd of unsuspecting teenagers spells bad. Lee just starts to walk toward them when Bonnie jerks her hand away from the beer bottle where her hand had been resting on Elena’s.
“What?” Elena asks not knowing how to take the small moment they just had.
“That was weird,” Bonnie is overwhelmed. Her voice unsteady. “When I touched you, I saw a crow.” Those words stop Lee once more in her tracks. Damon…
“What?” Now Elena is the one starting to become overwhelmed. Lee can only imagine why, she’s been right all along.
“A crow.” Bonnie repeats as she tries to recall what she’d seen, “There was fog, a man.” Elena’s heartbeat skyrockets. She’s slightly panicking now. “I’m drunk. It’s the drinking,” Bonnie is trying to calm her friend down. “There’s nothing psychic about it.” She takes the bottle away from Elena. “Yeah? Okay. I’m gonna get a refill.”
“Okay?” Elena isn’t sure what just happened. “Bonnie!”
Lee cuts through the crowd, weaving until she’s at the young witch’s side. Bonnie jumps slightly. “Don’t do that,” She chuckles still unsteady, she goes to bump Lee but the vampire avoids it. She can’t let Bonnie accidentally pick up on something.
“Didn’t mean to scare you. You alright?” Lee asks genuinely concerned.
“What? Yeah!” Bonnie brushes her off. “Just getting a refill. Did you just get here?”
“Mm-hmm, Stefan got dragged away by Caroline. I was just on the hunt for a drink when I saw you. Care to show me where I can find that beer I mentioned earlier today?” She gives her a charming smile.
Bonnie laughs with a nod, “Yeah, come on.”
----
Stefan and Elena had disappeared off together, not something Lee hadn’t expected. But that did leave her alone with Caroline and Bonnie. They’d found themselves on one of the lower bridges talking. They didn’t seem like bad people. Bonnie was someone who truly cared about Elena, was a real best friend. The parallels between Katherine/Emily and Elena/Bonnie kept growing, but each set was vastly different. It almost sucked that when this was all over whatever friendship she built with the youngest Bennett would be ruined.
Caroline though, Lee just hoped the teen made it out of this alive. The more time she spent with the blonde the more of a tortured soul Lee saw. To most the blonde would see selfish, conceded, overly flirty. But like the night before Lee saw something more. She was lost, no clue of where she belonged or if she did. She didn’t seem like anyone’s first pick, brushed aside for someone-- Elena-- else. She needed a friend that wouldn’t judge or use her for her social rank within the halls of Mystic Falls High.  “So is Elena really your brother’s type?”
Lee takes a long drag from her beer bottle, “I’m not really sure.” Partly true. The two hadn’t really been around each other long enough in decades for her to really answer that. But she did know Elena had his attention--if that was because she looked like Katherine or something more, Lee wasn’t sure.
“How do you not know?” Bonnie asked outwardly doubting her.
“We don’t really do the whole deep talking thing,” Lee set her bottle down on the ledge behind her. “We don’t bond over girls. He does his thing and I do mine.”
“So you are…” Caroline starts but can’t seem to bring herself to finish what she’s assuming.
“Gay...lesbian?” Lee chuckles, “Yes, I am. If my clothes at times aren't enough of a giveaway.” Not that Lee dressed how she did to fit a stereotype. These clothes were just more comfortable; less suffocating and more her. She studies Caroline’s face, “Does that make you uncomfortable?”
“No!” Caroline jumps to reassure her, taking a step closer. “No, not at all.” She rests a hand on Lee’s arm.
“We’re open-minded,” Bonnie adds in. “We live in the year 2009. We might be in a small town, but that doesn’t mean we’ll judge you. Other people, can’t really say anything about them.”
Lee uses the arm Caroline is holding to grab her beer again, a sly way to get out of the grip, “That’s good to know.”
“Do you have a type?” The blonde ventures, that flirtatious glint back.
“Caroline!” Bonnie chides.
Lee laughs again, “It’s alright Bonnie.” She takes a breath, “I’m already in a relationship.”
“Oh, I sense an epic love story,” Bonnie wiggles her eyebrows.
“Is she here in Mystic Falls?” Caroline doesn’t seem defeated yet, she’s going to see what her options are.
“Maybe,” Lee acknowledges Bonnie first. “And no,” Her eyes travel back to Caroline. “She’s not. We’re doing long distance at the moment.”
“That can’t be easy. Don’t you think you deserve someone who's right in front of you?” Caroline bites her lower lip.
The blonde is almost as bad as the Sommers’ girl back in 1864. God, Lee hopes Katherine isn’t anywhere near the falls. Lee raises a brow, “You’re shameless aren’t you?”
“Does that bother you?” Caroline takes a step closer and Lee can hear Bonnie mumbling something under her breath.
“No, it doesn’t.” Lee takes a step back, “But I love her.” Lee’s got to find a way to shut this down.
“Mysterious, badass, a charmer, and loyal even when there’s a chance she would never find out? She’s a lucky girl.” Bonnie cuts in and Lee is so thankful.
“I’m just me,” Lee mutters before taking another drink.
At that moment, Matt joins them. “I found them.”
“Hm?” Caroline hum slowly, turning her eyes away from Lee. “Who?”
“Stefan and Elena,” He nods to a bridge further up and all four turn to look.
“Cozy,” Lee comments.
“Romantic,” Bonnie throws out.
“Predictable.” Caroline grumbles.
Bonnie looks at Caroline as if she had two heads, “You were just all--”
“I know,” Caroline cuts her off. “Still, predictable.”
Lee turns away, she goes to say something when she hears Elena ask Stefan if he’s okay. Her head snaps back, trying to figure out what’s going on. Stefan moves away from the doppelganger.
“Oh, um…” He starts rubbing his eyes, face. “Yeah, no. It’s, um, it’s nothing.” He tries to explain away what Lee can only guess is his eyes changing.
“Excuse me,” Lee sets her bottle down, starting to move away from the small group.
“Where are you going?” Caroline asks.
Lee points up to the two on the bridge, “Stef doesn’t seem the best.” She catches Bonnie’s eyes, “What’s the fastest way up there?” She could use her abilities but with how many people that are here someone would surely see.
“I’ll take you,” Bonnie reassures her.
“He seems fine now.” Matt breaks in. “He’s leaving her.”
Lee glances up to see Stefan moving away from Elena, “--get us a drink.” The younger Salvatore sighs. He’s got to get this shit under control.

Enemies Of The State : Dark!Klaroline {16}
summary:
This fiction follows the events of just how Klaus Mikaelson and Caroline Forbes lost everything that tied them to their humanity, leading them into something neither of them can come back from.
—————
{10 years ago}
“Tyler is now free to come back to Mystic Falls.” Caroline looked shocked, staring at him with utter disbelief. “What?” That smile appeared on her features, electrifying his every nerve.
God, the effect she’d had on him.
“He’s your first love,” He’d looked at her with nothing but love and affection, taking a deep breath before adding the next part. “I intend to be your last....however long it takes”
Klaus Mikaelson clutched onto the steering wheel until his knuckles went a ghostly white at the memory that’d somehow weened it’s way back to his head.
It was a vow he thought he was willing to break when first making a run for that Deveraux witch. It was something that’d seemed like the most important task in his life at the time, when his priorities should’ve been with Caroline Forbes in the first place. It drove him mad with guilt and regret for leaving the town in the first place.
“Do you not think we should undagger our poor sister?”
His thoughts were cut with Kol’s voice, who was looking at the back with worry. They had thrown Rebekah’s desacated self in the backseat, not wanting to leave her on display for everyone to see.
“Leave her be. She’s much more pleasant like this,” Klaus replied grimly. Needless to say, he was still angry with the words thrown at him by the Original.
Of course, Klaus loved his little sister, even if she drove him mad half the time. No matter how much she professed his hatred for him, he knew that she’d have to get over her feelings eventually. They did have centuries ahead of their lives.
He hadn’t felt time move so slow like it seemed in the last couple days. The only other being when he was living with the hunter’s curse. It was one of the only times he had thought about switching it off.
“Run me through the plan again,” Kol huffed, facing the front. “We are dealing with a ridiculously neurotic vampire with her humanity turned off. There’s bound to be complications.”
“Highly concentrated vervain,” Klaus tried to focus on the road. “The Witch conveniently had a supply made.”
“I still don’t understand why her friends are tagging along. Don’t they hate eachother?”
Klaus furrowed his brows, looking in the rearview mirror. A black SUV was following them not far behind. He could see Stefan driving with his heightened vision, a distressed look on his face.
The group had insisted on joining, and the his mind was too disoriented from the anger and worry to protest. As long as he was there, however, they couldn’t hurt her.
He swore nothing would ever hurt Caroline again. Not even him.
“I’ll handle it,” The hybrid replied monotonously. “They won’t be a problem.”
——————
Caroline raised her eyebrows. Now this was an interesting turn of events. She hadn’t thought Bonnie had any living witch relatives left. Not ever since her grams passed away and her mother turned into a vampire.
“You’re a Bennett witch,” Caroline examined. “That’s a surprise.”
“In the flesh,” Amelia smiled. She could point out the similarities between Bonnie easily, but there was something about her that was...off-putting. What threw Caroline off, however, was that she sensed a sort of darkness surrounding the Bennett witch that felt eerily familiar.
It was sort of darkness Caroline had felt consume her slowly on the inside.
“Right,” Katherine stepped towards Amelia confidently. “So what’s the price, Amy? You know you’re the only one that can give me what i want.”
“The blood of the Petrova doppelgänger is the price i require,” Amelia sat down in front of her dark magic alter. “Your hand, if i may?”
She extended her hand towards the witch, who immediately drew out a knife and a small vial. Caroline noticed her chanting something under her breath as she cut the doppelgänger’s hand open with a swift flash of the blade, letting the scarlet blood quickly fill up.
“Perfect,” Amelia hummed as she closed the vial when it was filled to the brim. “This will come in handy.”
“Great,” Katherine tapped her high heel impatiently. “I have places to be and things to do, so can you put that witchy woo into good use already?”
Taking the Ascendent out of her bag, she held it out to the witch, who took it carefully.
“The Coven wont be happy when Malachai is walking around free,” Amelia examined the piece of metal. “Luckily for you, i don’t abide by nature’s law.”
With that being said, she took the knife and similarly dragged her palm across the blade, blood dripping onto the Ascendent. The witch began chanting in a language Caroline didn’t understand, but it seemed diabolical. Nothing like Bonnie seemed to practice as lightening erupted from above.
“Ready?” Katherine held onto her hand tightly, a mischievous glint in her eyes. A dark cloud had appeared above them, evidence of Amelia’s magic working as she began chanting louder.
Caroline couldn’t reply, because she suddenly felt an unimaginable force pull her under, her vision suddenly going into darkness.
***
“I was expecting something much more evil than this.”
The Gemini Coven stood where it was supposed to be, still as broken down and eerie as Klaus remembered it to be. He hadn’t the best memories stemming back to this place. The only difference he noticed, however, was that the home was visible.
It proved that his Caroline right here. He could practically feel her essence lingering by, no matter how crazy that had sounded. It was something he adored about her, she had the ability to make her presence known in a crowded room.
“There’s nothing evil about it, Damon” Elena observes as she stepped out of the car. “Without Kai here, of course.”
“Don’t know about that” Bonnie said grimly, keeping her distance from the home. “I’m sensing malevolent magic. It means something terrible has happened here.”
You lot don’t know the half of it Klaus thought as he approached the stairs ascending into the coven. He had heard all to well what Kai Parker had done here, killing his little siblings in cold blood.
Of course, he was as evil as it gets, but even he couldn’t imagine killing the little family he had left. Not permanently, anyways.
“What do you suppose we do now?” Kol spoke lowly. “You don’t think the ascendent’s still in there, do you?”
Klaus stayed silent, only walking into the abandoned home stiffly. He could only pray that the old piece of metal was still where it was hidden, but even he knew the chances of that were slim.
He immediately made a beeline towards the bedroom where the ascendent was strategically placed, praying to whatever was above for him that it was still there. Praying that the damned thing wasn’t in Caroline’s hands.
“I’ve read about this place,” Stefan said glumly as he followed with the rest. “What would Caroline even want with this place?”
“I have no idea besides her wanting the ascendent,” Bonnie replied. She was uneasily leaning against the broken down walls. “It doesn’t make sense.”
Kai’s old room wasn’t packed up when Klaus entered it, dried up stains of his siblings blood were still evident on the floor. Of course they didn’t touch this room. It was full of evidence of the most horrific thing to happen to the Coven.
“Is it there?”
Kol appeared behind his brother, a concerned expression on his face, but Klaus’ nightmares were just beginning to come true as he broke into the closet. A distinct outline made by the ascendent made by dust was as clear as day, and it was gone.
He didn’t say a word, only kicking down the closet in a sudden fit of rage.
——————
When Caroline came to, she was greeted by Katherine’s hand pulling her up. The rays of light and silence made her certain she wasn’t the in dark cemetery anymore.
In fact, she was right in the middle of Mystic Falls, but void of people. It was just them two, standing in the middle of a parking lot.
“How the hell did we get back to Mystic Falls?” Caroline groaned, rubbing her eyes as she adjusted to her sudden new surroundings. Katherine stood next to her, looking around in disbelief.
“I cannot believe it worked,” She whispered to herself. “Thank you Amelia Bennett,”
“Excuse me?” She nudged her. “Explain. Right now.”
She laughed, beginning to examine her surroundings. Caroline rolled her eyes, beginning to grow agitated.
“We,” Katherine finally started explaining. “Are in the prison world. The same prison world Kai Parker currently resides in.”
“So you’re telling a crazy person is here, as we speak?”
“Yep!”
Caroline scoffed, walking around the strange replica of her home town. She didn’t think it would end well at all, the whole breaking a sociopath out of a prison that was made specifically. But without her emotions, she wasn’t at all fazed.
“Caroline!” Katherine called out, “We need to split up. You search the right side of town, and i’ll search the left.”
With that being said, the doppelgänger flashed away in a blink of an eye. The blonde groaned, not wanting to participate in the ‘Find-the-Siphoner’ task Katherine was obsessed with.
But obviously, she didn’t have a choice in the matter, leading her to search every part of the right side of town. Including her own home. It strangely irked her, doubting that this Kai person would want to live there of all places.
After what seemed like hours had gone by, Caroline decided that she desperately needed a drink to get through this twisted treasure hunt.
Making her way inside the large grocery store that was placed in the middle of town, she immediately flashed towards the liquor aisle. Bourbon was lined in a neatly against the rack, and she quickly took one of the shelf, eager for some sort of release.
But as soon as Caroline opened the bottle, she’d heard sounds coming from the patio furniture display. Crunching sounds, as if someone was eating.
“Oh hell,” The vampire mumbled as she approached the display with complete caution.
Pulling apart the umbrella, surely enough, there was a boy sitting on the lawn chair, eating pork rinds without a care in the world.
Caroline looked at him incredulously.
“Rough day, huh Caroline?”
She didn’t say a word.
The boy shook his head, laughing.
“Oh god, manners. I’m Kai!” The boy who now had that dreaded name exclaimed with a sick smile, pulling the bag towards her.
“Pork rind?”

It Hurts Like Hell                                      - Part VI Kai Parker x Reader
word count : 2 521 warning : reader character’s death (be warned - this chapter was the hardest to write because i just couldn’t stop crying)
Part 1 - Part 2 - Part 3 - Part 4 - Part 5 *not my gif ___________________________________ Y/N spent the next few weeks barely leaving Kai’s apartment. She couldn’t stand being around her friends right now… Every time she saw any of them , the pain of what they did crushed her heart all over again. She loved Kai still and knew that one way or another he’d be back. Either he’d find his way out of there or she’d find someone to do the spell and bring him back. Lilly Salvatore wasn’t going to give up either , she was sure of it. Y/N woke up in Kai’s bed feeling someone’s hands around her waist. I’m just imagining it. she thought. It hasn’t been the first time since Kai got trapped in 1903 that she felt as if someone was there with her. Everywhere around the apartment , she’d see his face , hear his voice…. but this time it felt different. It felt more real than before. Y/N rolled over and found Kai starring at her. “K-kai ?” she said startled. “No … no … I’m imagining it again.” tears started filling her eyelids. “Don’t cry. ” he said wiping a tear from her face.“I hate it when you cry… I am really  here. I am real.” Kai watched as his words started sinking into Y/N’s mind , her eyes widening when she realised it was really him standing there , a smile spreading across her face melting his heart. He had missed her more than he thought possible. “OH MY … KAI !” she said rolling over , standing on top of him. “You are back !!! How … when ?” a wide grin on her face. “You know , never mind that … You are here !!” she said leaning in to kiss him deeply. “Wow , calm down baby.” he said grinning too. “I can’t ! I missed you so much …” she said unable to keep her lips off of his. “I love you ! I love you!” Kai laughed , the most beautiful sound in the whole universe filling in the room. “I love and missed you too Y/N. More than you can imagine.” he said , resting his forehead against her before pushing her away  ,sitting on the bed with a serious look on his face. Y/N was confused for a moment as to what was happening. She took his hand and he turned towards her , a grim smile on his face. “What is it ?” she asked. “Nothing… ” he said , “Thats a beautiful dress you got there…” “Thanks .. It’s for Jo’s wedding….  which is today. They are making me go even tho I told them specifically I never wanted to see any of them ever again.” Y/N said sadly. “Are you going to the wedding ?” Kai asked , same grim look on his face. “I was thinking about going … All the Gemini will be here and I thought , maybe somehow I’d convince one of them to help me break you out of 1903 prison world , or at least get them to send me there.” Y/N watched as Kai’s lips turned into a smile. “You wanted to go to 1903 just to be with me ? Stuck reliving the same day over and over again for all eternity ?” he said surprised. “I couldn’t bare another moment being away from you.” she said as Kai wrapped his hands around her. “Neither could I.” Kai said , kissing her forehead. “There is something I have to tell you. I am going to make them pay for what they did… but I need you to stay here , OK. Don’t go to the wedding.” “Why not ? ” she asked confused. “Malachai Parker , what have you got planned for today ?” Y/N sat there listening to Kai’s plan , her eyes wide with shock and fear but not because of what he wanted to do. She had learned a long time ago that when you cross Kai , things get ugly. No , she was afraid because he didn’t know her friends like she did. They’d kill him for what he was planning to do.. for what he had already done. … but there was no talking him out of it. He made her promise that she wouldn’t go and she promised , knowing very well in the end she will break that promise. It was better this way - she’d have a chance to try and get him to pull back on his plan… and she didn’t want him to put a boundary spell on the apartment to keep her in there. *  *  * Y/N got dressed and drove to the wedding. As she was getting out of the car , her eyes fell on Kai who was standing on the edge of the forest. He motioned for her to follow. She looked around a few times , making sure no one could see her and walked towards him following him into the forest. They walked in silence for a while until they were far away so no one can hear them. “You shouldn’t be here.” he said. “You promised me.” There was hurt in his voice , he wasn’t angry … he was sad. “Where else would I be?” she asked , wrapping her hands around him. “Don’t do this Kai.” Y/N pleaded. “I’m sorry. I have to.” he said pressing his lips against hers. “I love you so much , Y/N.” he said and suddenly dissapeared into thin air. “Kai , please … I know you can still hear me. I can’t lose you.” she said , her voice breaking. “I love you …” But no answer came. Y/N had no idea if Kai was still there with her or not. ___________ Jo and Alaric’s wedding was a complete disaster. In the very beginning everything had been perfectly fine , she even felt someone holding her hand and there was no question who it was… then suddenly that someone was gone. Kai went through with his plan , interrupting the wedding right before Jo has finished her wedding vow. All the mayhem that followed sent Y/N across the room and onto the floor , hitting her head , pieces of glass piercing in her stomach. She was badly hurt and the pain was so strong but none of it even compared to seeing Kai stab himself in the neck with a piece of glass. Y/N tried to get to him but each move caused the glass shards to move further into her body. She cried out for help but her scream was muffled by others. A couple of times she blacked out. When she became concious again , there was someone standing over her , trying to remove the glass pieces.  Her vision was blurry but the voice she heard … she’d recognize it anywhere. In fact , she was sure his voice could bring her back from the dead , that’s how strong hold he had on her. “Don’t move.” Kai said pulling another piece of glass out of her stomach. Y/N groaned in pain. “Damn it …” he cursed under his breath. “That one has penetrated deeper , hold on.” A few moments later Kai had the piece pulled out , a loud scream tearing itself free from Y/N’s throat. He bit his wrist and gave her his blood to heal her. Y/N shot up straight wrapping her hands around him and cupping his face before kissing his soft lips. “You are OK!” she said , relief in her voice. “I saw you die … I … ” suddenly tears started falling down her face.  Kai pulled her in close and kissed her deeply. “Leave.” Kai said , suddenly serious. Y/N looked at him confused. “Leave? What ? NO ! I am not leaving you !” she protested. Kai grabbed her shoulders , locking eyes with her. “I love you , Y/N… and I want you out of harms way. You can’t be here for what comes next.” He kissed her forehead before continuing “If something happens to you … I … ” Kai’s eyes darted to her vervain bracelet and he took it off. “God , I hope this works … Listen to me Y/N - leave and forget you saw me today. I’ll find you when this is all over. I love you.” he said looking straight into her eyes. Without her vervain bracelet Y/N couldn’t fight the compulsion and did exactly as Kai compelled her to do. Kai watched as the girl he loves left through the doors not turning around and his heart broke a little at the thought he had almost lost her… but he was going to make damn sure that never happened again. *   *   *  A few hours later , Y/N’s phone rang. It was Stefan , he wanted her to go to the Salvatore house. Something had happened. Y/N got in her car and drove over. When she got there , Damon explained to her how Kai had linked Elena’s life to Bonnie and then had tried to kill Bonnie… so he had killed him. Y/N’s eyes widened , she shook her head refusing to believe what Damon had told her. “No. No, you are lying.” she said , tears filling her eyes. “Kai is not dead , he can’t be dead ! ” she kept repeating , more to herself to anyone else. Stefan poured her a drink and handed it over to her. She wrapped her hands around the glass starring into nothing , tears streaming down her face. Y/N got up and threw the glass across the room , smashing it in the fireplace. Caroline tried to hug her , but Y/N pushed her away , got up and walked into the kitchen to get some water. The prospect of living without Kai was ripping a whole straight through her chest, she couldn’t breath. None of this was supposed to happen. Kai was supposed to return to her , they were supposed to have a future together and now … everything was gone and all she saw was emptiness and pain. Y/N hadn’t even realised her hand had wrapped around one of the sharpest knifes as she made up her mind. “What are you doing ?” Stefan asked , startling her. She hadn’t even realise she had been followed. “Put that knife down.” he said slowly taking a step towards her , his arm outstretched. “Don’t do this …” “I can’t live without him , Stefan.” Y/N said , her voice dangerously cold. “I don’t want to go on living knowing he is gone. My life without him doesn’t exist.” she said and before Stefan had had the time to reach her , Y/N had slit her own throat , collapsing on the ground , the cut so deep she bleed out in seconds. The pain was about to go away forever and wherever Kai was at this moment , she was soon going to be with him. Stefan tried to heal her , but it was too late. He lifted her lifeless body and took her to the living room , tears in his eyes. Caroline rushed towards Y/N , her hand on her mouth , listening to Stefan explain what had happened and how he hadn’t been able to save her. He laid her body on the couch holding her hand and glancing at Damon who poured himself another drink and just walked out of the room. Y/N took a shallow breath. She had slit her own throat … but wherever she was , clearly her plan had failed. She grasped for air , her eyes wide with confusion. Y/N was in the Salvatore house living room alone. Where was everyone and why was her throat aching like this ? Y/N reached with her hand to rub it , her neck wet. When she looked at her hand which was now covered in blood. “What the hell?” she muttered under her breath. The doors opened , Stefan and Damon walked inside. “Stefan?” Y/N asked confused , his eyes widening. “What is happening to me ?” Stefan walked towards her confused , reaching for her face , searching for pulse. There was none. “I think … I think you died with vampire blood in your system.” he said turning to look at Damon , who just couldn’t be bothered with anything at the time. Y/N started crying. This was not what she wanted. Becoming a vampire was never on her list. All she had wanted was to die and maybe find Kai wherever he had gone after Damon killed him. “No , no… ” she shook her head tears streaming down her face. Memories slowly started flooding back , a highlight of her transition and her eyes widened. “Kai…” she said. Stefan looked at confused. “What are you talki- ?” “Kai gave me his blood , at the wedding. I was injured , he … he healed me.” she said putting a hand over her mouth. “Oh God…He compelled me to forget I ever saw him today.” she said trailing off.  "I died with his blood in my system.“ Terror flooded her , she never wanted to become a vampire and now she had to make a choice.   “I never wanted this …” she said , her voice hollow. Stefan pulled her into a hug. “Damon ?” he said , but when no response followed her raised his voice. “Damon ! ” finally catching his attention. “Go get a blood bag from downstairs.” Y/N pulled away shocked shaking her head. “Just in case …” Stefan said “It’s your choice , but whatever you decide just know I’ll be there to help you through it.” Y/N nodded as thoughts started swirling through her mind , trying to make a pro / cons list. After a few minutes she gave up. Most of her friends were vampires , she knew exactly what would happen if she made the choice to become one. Blood lust. Destruction and mayhem… Damon dropped the blood bag next to her and quietly walked upstairs to his room.  Stefan wanted to stay with her , but Y/N told him she’d be alright alone. “Just … call out if you need something.” he said starting to leave the room. “Wait…” Y/N said , making him turn around. “Where… where did you bury him ? I want to go there. Now.” Stefan and Y/N walked through the forest , not too far from the Salvatore Boarding House. It was dark and a slight chill was in the air , or maybe she felt it because technically she was dead now. A few minutes passed and finally they reached a spot where the ground had been freshly dug up. “I’ll give you some time alone.” Stefan said quietly. Y/N only nodded and sat on the ground , dropping the blood bag next to her.  She buried her fingers in the dirt and started crying. Whatever pain she had felt before , everything was getting amplified now. Kai was right there next to her , but she couldn’t touch him or see him. He was gone forever. She felt so lost without him. All memories they had shared were swirling like a tornado in her mind - the first time she had met him , their first kiss … the last time he told her he loved her.  And the last thing he had done for her - saving her life … twice.  A small smile spread across her face at the thought that his blood is currently running through her veins , a part of him was inside her. In that moment she made her decision - if becoming a vampire would mean keeping a part of him close , then that’s what she’d do.  _____________________ MASTERLIST March / April 2017 ______________________

what did you think of the tvd final? it felt rushed to me and i'm even more upset now ive seen all the interviews with kevin saying it was always meant to be stelena and it feels like a slap in the face that they gave us delena but only by default and the delena we got was so lacking everything i loved about them what did you think?
it’s taken me two days to process everything i felt about that finale and i’m still not fully there yet but i’m gonna try to put my feelings down and then move on
firstly, i had a lot of fun watching it with everyone (specifically @lowsodiumfreaks bc it was hilarious) and i am really glad i got to experience this fandom one last time in all its crazy glory
(i’m tagging @insightfuldamon too bc i like yelling my feelings at jackie bc she understands and i love her for it)
immediately after the finale i was content, i was crying, i was thankful for the show and its characters, i was generally A Mess but i was happy about it
yesterday, once i’d had some sleep and a chance to properly look at the finale by watching it again without the fear of my faves dying i was…less happy with it
i’m gonna start by saying what i loved and still love;
BONNIE BENNETT BEING THE ULTIMATE HERO WE ALL KNOW SHE’S BEEN FROM THE BEGINNING
the bennett witches being fucking amazing
that steroline phonecall bc as someone who never really shipped steroline that was the first time i truly felt it and i was so upset on behalf of caroline and stefan that they didn’t even get a day of marriage before death did them part
caroline/alaric and their girls, the whole convo where alaric mentioned liz and caroline got it and chose her girls over stefan bc she knew it was the right thing to do regardless of her love for him she’ll always put her girls first AND GUYS THAT WAS SO AWESOME BC ONE OF CAROLINE’S MAIN CHARACTER POINTS WAS GETTING THE GUY AND SHE LET THE GUY GO IN THE END !!!!!
BONLENA REUNION!! both times were glorious
all the defan. all of it. amazing. the whole scene where they were trying to sacrifice themselves for each other and i didn’t want either of them to die but then damon chose to save stefan and compelled him away AND I WAS SOBBING SO HARD AND SCREAMING AT CHAR but i’d also accepted it and was so proud of damon bc it was such a great moment in his journey
and then the plot twist with stefan tricking damon and turning him human and then sacrificing himself instead AND I WAS EVEN MORE OF A MESS BC I DIDN’T WANT IT AND HISTORICALLY I HAVE HATED STEFAN BUT I DIDN’T WANT HIM TO DIE but it was beautiful that he went out saving everyone
the whole stelena goodbye was a nice nod to their relationship even though i never liked it i adored their goodbye scene
STEFAN AND LEXI AND I WAS FEELING EPIC
the little daroline scene was cute
caroline seeing elena again!! all the girl feels when they were sat on the bench
i did like all the after death reunion scenes and the nods to past characters even if it felt a little too ‘wrap it neatly in a ribbon/all the fuzzy feels/overdone’
all the donovan family feelings were beautiful
now on to the things i didn’t like;
the delena scenes were flat as hell, felt forced, disjointed and just generally Bad
we got no conversation, no last ‘i love you’, no hint of a flashforward into those supposed ‘happy, human lives’
don’t get me wrong i’m content with the endgame and my 12 year old self now feels supremely justified in all her decision makings but it was so U G H purely bc it wasn’t anything
we got the endgame in name only and i didn’t feel it
i have a suspicion most of it was to do with the very obvious bad feeling between ian and nina, though i have to give credit bc i 100% felt everything delena from nina’s side it was ian doing a terrible job which was seriously jarring after how amazing his acting was in the scene with paul when defan were debating who was gonna die
the kiss was awkward, the handholding was awkward, the looks were awkward, EVERYTHING WAS AWKWARD THEY WERE LITERALLY ON SCREEN FOR A MINUTE AND IAN COULDN’T ADULT ENOUGH TO GET THROUGH IT GOOD LORD
but whatever i’m done, it’s over, bye
/side note; the interviews afterwards mean shit to me tbh bc the writers knew that nina was leaving at the beginning of season 6 so if they had ever truly intended stelena to be endgame they had plenty of time to write it and it’s obvious they’re just throwing every fandom a bone bc delena get to claim the endgame but the interviews suggest stelena get to feel justified in thinking stelena was always meant to be
blaming nina leaving is an utterly shitty thing to do so they can fuck off with that nonsense
the bottom line is they wrote the show, they decided the relationship endgames, they CHOSE THE CHARACTER ENDGAMES
their writing is on them and they need to own their decisions and stop trying to appease everyone or shift blame to one fucking actress like she didn’t dedicate her whole damn sanity to the shit they put her through
like the fact she even came back…they didn’t deserve her that’s all i’m gonna say but then they haven’t been deserving kat graham since she arrived so…fuck them basically
/end side note
i was disappointed that there was no dalaric other than the casual mention, there was no denzo, there was no last bamon scene which was utter bullshit considering they are supposed to be best friends though i loved damon mentioning his utter faith in bonnie and i also loved how as soon as bonnie found out damon was off to sacrifice himself she was like ‘nope i’m gonna save their asses’ once again
i’m waiting for a character to embody the title of ‘Queen’ more than bonnie bennett
still waiting
like we literally got a daroline scene but no bamon scene…what. the. frick?
i don’t care for katherine or datherine or steferine so all of that was a complete waste of time for me and the fact that katherine got more than elena in terms of screen time makes me all types of bitter but once again nina owned what she was given so kudos
i’m happy bonnie’s endgame was her getting the fuck out of mystic falls and i realize that their intention with that was to portray her as strong and moving on whilst still having enzo there whenever she needs him but i also can’t ignore the inherent wrongness of the black girl who has sacrificed literally everything of herself being the one who gets the ‘on her own/off to explore the world’ storyline whilst elena gets her happily ever after with damon and caroline gets her family and the future tease of klaus (also fucking africa?? s e r i o u s l y ? ?) whilst bonnie is supposed to be content with a semi love life she can’t really have until she’s dead ! ! ! n o p e
(like bonnie is literally the only one who ends up alone after she saved every single other character multiple times I’M SO FUCKING ANGRY THAT HER ENDGAME IS COMPLETELY SEPARATE OF EVERYONE ELSE’S LIKE ‘THANKS FOR ENSURING WE LIVED LONG ENOUGH TO GET OUR HAPPILY EVER AFTERS BUT WE’RE FINE NOW BYE’ what the fuck honestly)
but i’m white so i can’t really speak to that racist nonsense and there are hundreds of people in this fandom way more qualified to speak on that than me so i won’t say anymore on it
and then the whole ‘oh we thought maybe matt and bonnie could eventually get together but we left that up to the audience’ bullshit just bc matt’s the only guy left *barf noises*
i love matt but come on (also there wasn’t enough matt for me either)
i never really liked bonenzo but i can deal with it even though it should have been bamon until bonnie died and then i’d have been fine with delena after that bc i am of the opinion that u can have more than one epic love and to me damon was in love with both bonnie and elena and we were robbed but again w/e my multishipping ass will just have to be content with fanfiction
i hate that tyler got nothing but a tiny scene smiling at matt and holding hands with vicki bc they did that character so dirty after giving him such a fantastic journey in the early seasons
listen highkey we should’ve gotten forwood but then klaroline butted in with all its nonsense and tyler lockwood was sacrificed on the alter of shipper bullshit
I HATE THAT WE GOT NO JERLENA REUNION AND IT WASN’T EVEN HINTED AT IN THE WHOLE ‘ELENA DIED THEN REUNITED WITH HER FAMILY’ SCENE
B U L L S H I T
like superficially this finale was good as far as finale’s go, i’ve had to deal with a lot worse, but when u pick it apart and get past the glossy happily ever after sheen it’s kinda false to a lot of the relationships and characters
basically i have a lot of mixed feelings on it but i personally got enough that i can now move on without feeling entirely like i wasted 8 years of my life on the show and 12 years on these characters and relationships tho lbr they never really followed the books anyway
the thing i’m most thankful for about this show is the people i’ve met online through it and if the most i can take away from this experience is the friendships i’ve made with other fans then it’s been worth it
i know some of u won’t agree with everything i’ve said, some might not agree with any of it, but i appreciate u reading it anyway and i hope the finale meant enough to u that u can still be glad u fell into the hellhole that was tvd

The Vampire Diaries 816 Series Finale Recap “I Was Feeling Epic” #TVD #TVDforever
Episode grade: 11. (Yes, I know it’s a scale of 1-10…but this one goes to 11.)
There’s so much sadness in saying goodbye to a beloved series, but credit to The CW and the showrunners for making the conscious decision to end it at a specific point. That allows the writers to craft a deliberate ending, to plan the long-term story arcs that lead toward it, and to deliver a finale worthy of the characters and the devoted fans. Bravo!
We left off the previous week with Bonnie’s magic overloading. Her nose bled, and apparently, her heart stopped. Stefan does CPR, Caroline steps up with the vampire blood, but nothing’s working.
In the space beyond life, Bonnie finds herself face to face with Elena, and they share a joyous embrace. One of the beautiful things this show has been able to give us at several points throughout its 8-year run is a reunion of dear friends who thought they’d never see each other again. Damon and Alaric, Stefan and Lexi…those moments stand out even in a show so full of powerful moments. It’s a testament to how deeply, lovingly realized the characters are; we care about these friendships as if they’re our own connections.
Bonnie is happy to see Elena again, and she thinks this is the best of all possible outcomes; she will die and be with Enzo, and Elena can be returned to the world. But not so fast: Enzo is there to take her hand and propel her back to the world of the living, because he wants her to have a rich, full life before joining him. He loves her so truly, he can wait. (I just teared up a little, because Bonnie and Enzo are the most stable, least melodramatic couple of this whole series, and I love them together so much.)
Back to the real world, where Bonnie’s just awakened, Damon superspeeds to the bell tower and flings Vicki Donovan out a window. Matt comes along shortly and is all, what the hell, man? (Come on, Matt, you should be well past being surprised by Damon’s methods!) But it doesn’t matter, because Vicki’s fine again, more annoyed than anything else. So Damon snaps her neck! Matt looks hilariously peeved, but Damon assures him this is no big deal, and he’s right: Vicki clearly can’t be killed.
Vicki accepted Katherine’s offer to end her suffering. She’s been ordered to ring this bell once every five minutes (which means the action of this episode takes place essentially in real time, as twelve rings at five-minute intervals would come out to an hour. There is a slight problem with the timing, in that Stefan is no longer a vampire, and he covers a fairly impressive amount of ground for someone without superspeed, but I choose to forgive this, because this episode is amazing).
Damon turns to Matt and basically says your sister, you deal with it. As Damon leaves the tower immediately, Matt asks where he’s going. Damon explains that he’s going to get to a safe distance, because “I’m anticipating your failure.” Ha!
But he’s not wrong. Matt doesn’t fail so much as decline to argue with his dead sister. He can see that she’s been suffering so much, she’s beyond reason and disinclined to place others over herself (which, I guess, might somewhat explain her being in hell in the first place…though I still do wonder about that, because dude, Silas didn’t even have to go to hell).
Because he is a devoted brother but also a responsible sheriff, Matt immediately calls for an evacuation of Mystic Falls. “Gas leak. Yes, again.”
Stefan and Damon return to the mansion, where Elena’s coffin has been left sitting out in the open, and that seems like a questionable choice for so very many reasons, but whatever, because this episode is awesome.
They find the coffin sitting open and empty, and Stefan notes that Bonnie’s heart stopped earlier–maybe that was enough to trigger the end of Kai’s spell! Elena steps out from around the corner, and Damon runs to sweep her up in his arms…and then dumps her with disgust, because of course this is not Elena. Welcome back, Katherine!
She snarks and taunts them, and it’s hilarious when they unceremoniously dagger her, because they have much more important things to do than let her monologue at them! They’ve got less than an hour to find Elena wherever Katherine has stashed her away.
Also feeling the time crunch is Alaric. He’s got the car packed up and wants Caroline to get her ass in gear about this evacuation plan. She’s determined to stay in Mystic Falls and help find Elena…and of course not leave her just-married husband behind. Ric has got zero patience for this nonsense, plus he still has feelings for her and believed they had a shot until Stefan swooped back in…again. He’s so committed to getting her to come with him, he even plays the dead mom card, and that’s harsh.
Down in the boiler room of Mystic Falls High School, Stefan finds Elena, but there’s a small problem (of course!); the room has been hexed, so Elena cannot be carried out of it. Kai apparently did this for Katherine before Bonnie banished him to karaoke hell.
Here’s an Easter egg I love: Stefan tells Damon where he found Elena, and Damon comments that a high school boiler room reminds him of a horror movie. It’s a tiny little throwaway line, but it’s sweet. See, Kevin Williamson, co-creator of TVD, got famous when he wrote a wonderful movie called Scream, which was directed by the great Wes Craven, who got famous for the classic horror film Nightmare on Elm Street, in which Freddy Krueger haunts the town where he was burned to death in a high school boiler room. So this little moment is a touching homage to Wes Craven.
Katherine finds Damon to subject him to some more villainous taunting. She’s either behind on the relationship dynamics in Mystic Falls or she’s just implying that Stefan’s going to leave Caroline eventually, because she doesn’t seem totally aware that Elena is Damon’s girl these days (and always will be! #Delenaforever). She says Stefan is the better man, which isn’t remotely true, but it’s reasonable that she thinks it, because Damon is so much more like her than Stefan is, so she’s basically admitting her own crappiness.
It’s again hilarious when Damon just daggers her and moves on.
The Armory is apparently at a safe minimum distance from Mystic Falls, because that’s where Alaric has brought Bonnie and the girls. (Note: Bonnie assuages his conscience about bailing on their friends, because there’s nothing they can do…but that’s not true, is it? His silence and guilty expression make it clear that he knows Josie and Lizzie could siphon away the spell on the boiler room to free Elena. It’s not unreasonable that he’s not willing to risk taking them back into the danger zone, but there is something they technically could do.)
Bonnie realizes there’s another option, though. It has to do with the tunnels connecting the Armory to Mystic Falls, a hellfire contingency plan Alaric and Dorian were researching, and the fact that she knows she has magic again. She calls Stefan and plays the you-killed-Enzo card, which is totally fair. Stefan knows it, too; redemption is his one true goal, and Bonnie’s the one person who could offer it to him.
Stefan and Caroline part tearfully, because he agrees with Alaric that her place is with her kids. He doesn’t exactly say goodbye, but it’s implied. After all, as I have noted, he’s no longer capable of superspeeding to safety, and the hour is passing quickly. When Caroline reaches the Armory, Bonnie sends her away with Ric and the girls, and Bonnie also makes a point of not saying goodbye…but it’s implied. Caroline is being deliberately kept in the dark, because everyone’s goal here is to keep her with her kids, rather than letting her try to save everyone.
They’re a decent distance away before Caroline gets Alaric to tell her what’s going on. She begs him to stop the car, and she gets out to call Stefan. There’s no answer, so she leaves a desperate message about how much she loves him and always will. Alaric hears this and the pain in his face is so tragic. Alaric is truly the better man, and it hurts to know that even if he and Caroline wind up recoupling, he’ll never feel like her first choice.
Damon lures Katherine to the crypt, where she vamps at him some more, and he (again, hilariously and with aplomb) daggers her. Every time she’s daggered, she bounces back to hell for a time. This is crucial to Bonnie’s plan, because Bonnie believes she can use the blast of hellfire as a weapon to destroy hell, and it will also destroy Katherine if she happens to be in hell at the time.
Stefan joins Damon and announces his intention to carry out Bonnie’s plan, thereby earning his redemption and ensuring Damon’s future with Elena. Damon is not having it. He compels Stefan to walk away and save himself, because being a big brother earns him the right to protect his little brother, and he’s damn well going to do that. And every Delena fan who wants the Delena happy ending, and every Bonzo fan who will never forgive Stefan for killing Enzo (incidentally, I’m both of these) screams, “No!!!”
Back at the bell tower, Vicki’s finishing her eleventh ring and five minutes away from the hellfire detonation. Matt and Peter come to see her. She reminds Matt that he can’t stop this, and if he’s nearby, he’s going to die. She also sneers at the notion that Peter might think he can show up now and have some kind of fatherly impact on her. He just smiles and says he’s only here to see his daughter one last time. Matt explains that there’s a plan in the works. Check how deeply he believes in Bonnie, that he’s risking his life by being at ground zero. You’re a good man, Matty Blue.
Down in the tunnels, Katherine wakes up, and Damon gets ready to stab her again…but not until the time is right. In the Armory, Bonnie’s bracing herself for the biggest magical fight of her life. And in the town square, Matt and Peter stare up at the bell tower, where Vicki’s ringing the bell for the twelfth time. Kawoosh! A blast of hellfire disintegrates Vicki, blows out the bell tower windows, but then is sucked back in on itself and down through the bell tower interior, into the tunnels.
Bonnie calls on the Bennett witch legacy in her time of need. She’s all alone, and the power is too intense; she’s ready to let go and accept her death, but again, here’s Enzo to remind her that he’s not willing to watch her die today. And bolstered again by his love and belief in her, Bonnie steels herself to continue fighting…but this time she’s not alone. Grams takes her hand, and Beatrice appears at her side, and soon the room is filled with the spirits of the Bennett legacy, supporting their scion.
In the tunnels, Damon holds the dagger at the ready, gripping Katherine to keep her from getting away. Every fan is wishing for something to deus ex machina Damon to safety. And then–
Elena wanders out into the Mystic Falls High School halls, and she sees Stefan, who fills her in on how Damon was prepared to sacrifice himself to save everyone…but of course that isn’t what happened. Stefan has been taking vervain since he became human again, because he knows better than to leave himself open to compulsion in this crowd. He allowed Damon to believe he’d been compelled, but really, he went straight for a hypodermic needle to draw the Cure from his veins. He went into the tunnels, waited until the moment was near (smart–human Stefan could not have held Katherine for long), stuck Damon with the Cure and flung him out of harm’s way, then daggered Katherine and went up in a blaze of glory, saving the day.
Stefan says his goodbyes to Elena, asks her to deliver a message to Caroline, and goes forth to be at peace…with Lexi! OMG it’s Lexi, and my eyes well up, and I’m so happy. Stefan and Lexi’s reunion is exactly what I wanted. I love you, TVD.
From there, the tears basically never stopped flowing. Elena woke up (for real this time) and was reunited with Damon for the happy ending we all deserved. Stefan’s funeral faded to a montage of all the happy endings with individual voiceovers:
Bonnie’s going to see the world, and Enzo will always be at her side, in spirit.
Caroline joins Alaric to start the school he envisioned for kids with magical gifts–he’s basically Professor X, and it’s awesome. Jeremy Gilbert is on staff, as is Dorian. This scene contains the ultimate moment of fan service: The school receives a generous donation from none other than Klaus Mikaelson, again reminding Caroline that the torch still burns. (OMG please make this happen. The Originals could use a little Caroline Forbes magic!)
Matt continues on as sheriff of Mystic Falls. Like Liz Forbes before him, a bench is built in his honor. Being compared to Liz Forbes is no small thing, of course (there was some Twitterverse yammer about how the bench seemed paltry…not so!). He’s thinking of running for Mayor. (Hey, is the Lockwood mansion still in his name?)
Damon and Elena get married, and she becomes a doctor. They live happily ever after.
The final moments are a little ambiguous, deliberately so. Are we seeing a true scene of the afterlife, many years hence? Or is it more symbolic in nature, showing the awareness of the peace that lies before them? It doesn’t really matter. All that matters is that it’s a happy ending, and they’ve earned it.
I cried my eyes out for about the next half an hour. I’ll miss this show and these characters. I’ll watch and rewatch the series over the years to come. It’s a gift for a show to stay this good for so long and end this well. Thank you, TVD, for this beautiful journey. It was worth every moment.
What will you miss most about The Vampire Diaries? Reminisce in the comments!
