here's a Snippet of a Thing i am Writing.
steven decides to do some research for these strange dreams he's been having.
~500 words. post-canon. cw for implied reference to past childhood abuse and steven's attempts at spanish.

Steven dropped the stack of books onto the counter.
The cashier looked up and down the 12 storey pile. "Will that be all, then?"
"Yup," Steven chimed, rising onto the balls of his feet to see over the top.
Once home, the entire Spanish foreign language syllabus lay strewn across his desk. 7 textbooks, 1 pocket dictionary, 1 full dictionary, and 3 additional exercise books.
Steven, how much was this.
"You can't put a price on education, Marc," Steven hummed, paging through the Level 1 textbook.
Yeah, but there is a price on this flat. And our food. And our water. And-
"Alright, alright," he waved him off. "I paid for it myself. Had a little squirrelled away."
Wasn't there a- a "for beginners" book. One of those yellow ones. Or you could just use the goddamn app.
"Hmm," he licked his finger and turned the page. "I think I've had enough of vindictive birds telling me what to do for one life."
The next page featured a table of delightful cartoon animals with their corresponding English and Spanish names. Dog. El perro. La perra.
"Besides," he continued, "I like doing it the traditional way. Learnt Ancient Egyptian through books, how much harder could Spanish be?"
He caught a glimpse of movement out of the corner of his eye. Marc settled into the reflection of the fish tank, sitting on the edge of the bed, hands clasped.
Why the sudden interest?
Steven's nose wrinkled. "Been having some, uh. Some weird dreams recently. Usually that wouldn't be strange for me- although those didn't turn out to be dreams, did they? All those times I dreamt about beating some poor sod to a pulp."
Marc shifted.
"But these ones are different. It's like, little moments. Not killing or maiming or any of that sort. Just. A room. A sidewalk. You know, places. And you're there too sometimes!"
Me?
"Yeah, I can see you in the reflections. That's why I've got these," he tapped one of the books, "Cause every time I try to speak to you, yeah? You answer in Spanish. It's bloody weird."
He looked over the top of his glasses at Marc. "You don't speak any, do you?"
Marc's finger twitched.
No. Spanish… Mom's side of the family spoke the most Spanish. I never- she never-
He fell silent searching for words that wouldn't come.
"Right," Steven whispered. Then louder, "Right. Sorry."
Don't worry about it.
Steven cleared his throat and turned the page. His brow furrowed for a moment as he read over one of the exercises.
"Te… tengo un pez. Mascota," he managed. "Su nombre es Gus."
Marc raised an eyebrow.
"I have a pet fish. His name is Gus."

give me a show or a movie in which "fate" and destiny are involved... where the protagonist/s struggle with the concept of free will, with prophecies.. and i will eat it up.. i will.. i'm thinking specifically about shows like merlin and supernatural and movies like the green knight, greek tragedy n some of arthuriana in general and yea cant think about anything else rn but. i just love a good tragedy. i love when a character does every possible thing to make things right, to change what has been foretold but he just cant, and everything goes as its supposed to go, it goes how everyone said it was going to go from the start!! and no one can do anything about it except grieve!! except giving up and surrendering to anger and grief and sorrow!!

WELL.......
Who saw this coming?
Dude...my stomach has been in a constant state of just plummeting and who's to say when it'll stop ajdkdkf I'm not surprised but somehow I'm still disappointed (which is a severe understatement)
The thing is, I don't believe season 2's not happening bc of fans or bc of Oscar. The show did perform well, but it's Marvel, and they really could do whatever the hell they wanted regardless of feedback. They have more than enough means for it. And I've noticed it being framed like it's all in Oscar's hands now and to be completely honest, with everything I know about his relationship with the entire project, I highly doubt he'd turn a second season down. Call me delusional but it's just what I see.
I guess he said it as a joke. But my brain has also convinced itself to not write off the possibility that he's diving into his character study for Jake Lockley as we speak. That's just where I'm at lol
If there are a hundred people who believe we'll get a s2, I'm one of them. If there are five people who believe, I'm still one of them. If it's just one person, it's me. I honestly want it so badly that I am risking this insane amount of letdown.
This is the hill I die on, folks. Anyone's welcome to join me :) and yes, bring your clown getups just in case
