time for an update and this time it's Johnny & Roy. lol
You know from what episode this is and I may have to take another round of screenshots after this run. For some episodes I don't have that much. Oops. *blushs*
It is with deepest sadness that I am posting this to let all the Emergency! family know that on 12 May 2023 actor Michael Norell passed away.

—————————
“Shhh be quiet.” I giggled quietly to my boyfriend. He held my hand brightly as we snuck into the fire station.
My dad is the captain of the fire station. His name is Hank Stanley and I’m y/n Stanley. I’m 17 years old and I am a junior in high school.
I live at the station with my dad. I also live with four other men. They are all in their early 30s. I grew up at the fire house and all of these men raised me. They are also very protective of me.
Me and my boyfriend went on a date and we are currently trying to quietly make our way to my room. I live in a different part of the station from the guys. It was 12 am and 3 hours past my curfew. I was sure all of the boys would be asleep by now.
We quietly went into the kitchen and I leaned with my back against the counter. My boyfriend pressed his body against me and kissed my lips. I kissed back and ran my hands over his jaw.
Then the lights turned on. My blood ran cold and my eyes shot open. My boyfriend jumped back from me and we both turned our heads to the living room.
All the guys including my dad were standing there with their arms crossed. I sucked in a breath and felt my face grow hot. I bit my lip and my boyfriend moved closer to me.
“Come sit down.” My dad said. I nodded and I went and sat on the couch with my boyfriend beside me. The guys all pulled up chairs and sat in front of us.
“So who’s this?” Roy asked nodding his head towards Daniel.
“Umm this is Daniel, he’s in my grade.” I said.
“Why are you coming in late with him?” Mike stated.
“Uhhh, because we are dating.” I said as my boyfriend sunk into the couch beside me.
The feeling in the room changed completely. It was now tense and all the guys were studying Daniel.
“When did this happen?” My dad asked.
Me and Daniel looked at each other and bit our lips. We looked back towards the men and Daniel spoke up.
“Well we’ve been friends since fourth grade when I moved here.” He said, looking at his lap. He was intimidated, I could tell.
“We asked when you two started dating.” Marco said. Daniel shrunk down even further and leaned his body against mine.
“We started dating in February of last year, when we were both sophomores.” I admitted. All of the men had wide eyes.
“So you’re telling me you kept this from us for a year?” Chet asked. I nodded and looked at the floor.
“Have y’all had sex yet?” Johnny asked. Everyone started scolding Johnny but my dad stayed looking at me. I shifted in my seat and looked towards Daniel. He shifted in his seat too and looked up at me a little.
“Uh, yes.” I said quietly. The room went silent and all the men looked at me and Daniel. My face was red and Daniel was holding my hand tightly.
Then all at once the men stood up and started to yell at Daniel. Roy grabbed my arm lightly and made me stand up. All the other men literally chased Daniel out of the station.
I was seeing red, why did they have to ruin everything.
“You better have enjoyed this because this is the last time you’ll be seeing her!” I heard Chet yell.
I bit the inside of my lip and tasted a metallic taste. I put my finger to my lip and pulled away. Red wet liquid stained my finger tip and I sighed.
The men came back in and cornered me.
“You can’t see him ever again.”
“Why didn’t you tell us about him?”
“You have to come right back here after school everyday.”
A bunch of statements were piled on top of me and I broke.
“Can y’all shut up! I’m seventeen years old and I know what I’m doing! I’m not six anymore I need freedom you can’t just keep sheltering me my whole life!” I yelled at the men. I shoved passed the men and went to my room.
I slammed the door shut and huffed. I went into the bathroom and took deep breaths trying to calm myself down. I was so angry I didn’t know what to do with myself.
I ended up turning around and pinching my mirror, shattering it and slicing my hand. I cursed and I fell to my knees, clutching my fist to my chest.
There was commotion in my room and muffled voices from outside the bathroom door.
The door to my bathroom opened and all the men were standing there. They caught a glimpse of the broken glass and my bloody hand and immediately sprang into action.
Roy and Johnny went to get the medical kits while Marco and Chet went to clean off the couch. Mike and my dad helped me stand up and walk to the couch without stepping on any glass.
The tears in my eyes wouldn’t stop flowing as I sat on the couch next to Johnny. He pulled out some peroxide with a wet cloth and poured the peroxide on my cuts.
I hissed and Roy sat beside me. My dad was in front of my with one of his hands on my knee. Johnny cleaned my cut and wrapped my hand. I thanked him quietly and looked at my lap.
“Look we’re sorry for being so hard on you and Daniel. We just want what’s best for you.” My dad said. I nodded and looked around at all the men. They had sorry expressions on their faces.
“I’m sorry too, this is just the first guy that I actually like that likes me back. And I didn’t want y’all to scare him off like y’all have all my other friends.” I explained.
All the men nodded and my dad hugged me. I hugged him back and the other men did their turns of hugged as well. I then went to my room and fell asleep.
(I have many ideas for this series and it shouldn’t be a king one but I will be writing a lot for it.)
Roy and Johnny had been together for a little over a year now, and were trying to find a way to live together without causing any suspicion.
They had worked hard to develop a legendary rivalry over women. Nurses in particular. Joe Early, to everyone's surprise, had an unholy sense of humor, encouraged it, all the while stirring the pot behind the scenes.
The pretense, the hiding and even Joe's teasing made them tired and sad sometimes, when all they wanted to do was merely hold hands, or even each other, after a bad run, or just from the joy of love. But other times the pretense, the flirting wound them up so tight they barely made it to one or the other apartments before laying hands on each other.
Now another dilemma presented itself that very morning. Roy's mom called to announce her engagement to her irascible boss, who turned out to be a total softy and madly in love with his new secretary, proving Johnny’s prediction correct.
They were planning a small wedding and wanted to know when Roy could be there.
"Of course your partner is invited too." She said lightly. The tone of her voice and the avoidance of Johnny’s name made Roy suspicious.
"My…partner?"
Johnny, who was curled tight against his side, head on his chest lifted it with a shocked and guilty expression, dislodging Roy hand from his hair in the process.
"Yes. Now let me talk to him."
"She wants to talk to you." Roy squeaked.
Slowly, Johnny slid up so they were cheek to cheek, the receiver between their ears.
"Good morning Mrs. DeSoto." Johnny said politely.
"I thought I told you to call me Harriet?"
"Yes ma'am, er, ah-"
"Mom." Roy cut Johnny’s stammering off. "How?'
"Oh honey. I saw the way you looked at him. And he's all you talk about now. It wasn't difficult." She said gently. "Now I want you both here, so look at your schedules."
Johnny and Roy stared at each other in shock.
"The sooner, the better." Harriet giggled. "If you know what I mean."
"That's far out about your mom." Johnny said later while they were doing an inventory on the squad.
"Yeah. But how do we explain going to Hawaii together?"
"The truth." Johnny shrugged. "My aunt and I are old family friends."
Roy opened his mouth to point out the flaws in that explanation when they were called out to an injured child.
When they returned to the station an hour later, the pair were changed men. Roy was silent and Johnny was jumpy for the rest of the day.
Their new captain, Hank Stanley finally corralled them in his office and learned a hard lesson in leadership when they explained that the patient was a victim of a particularly brutal assault and they'd been unable to save the child. It was pretty obvious who the responsible party was, but the mother wouldn't talk.
Where Roy had a mother who protected him as well as she could, and Johnny an aunt who eventually saved him, the other children in the home had no one.
And they were helpless to intercede.
Johnny had streaked past his breaking point long ago. He raged at his captain about the unfairness, the injustice of the situation.
"How soon, Cap? How soon till we're back there for another one? And again and again until they're all gone? How much more, how many more does there have to be?"
Johnny had been pacing, gesturing madly with one hand in his hair while Roy and Captain Stanley watched, stunned. When Johnny spun around to pace back, he almost ran into Hank, who had stood and reached out to lay a consoling hand on his shoulder. Johnny cried out and recoiled into the wall, his hands raised defensively.
"Th-thanks C-cap." He stuttered into the shocked faces of his companions. "I-I g-gotta…ch-chores."
He bolted from the room.
"Roy?" Captain Stanley asked.
"I-I knew he had it rough growing up but…" Roy shrugged, bewildered and concerned.
Hank could only nod with furrowed brow, wishing he knew how to help.
Roy was surprised when lights out came to find Johnny already in his bunk, his arm over his face. He knew Johnny wasn't asleep, though, so he laid on his side, watching over his partner, wishing he could hold him, comfort him.
He woke some time later. His sleep fuddled mind couldn't determine what would have disturbed his rest. He turned to study Johnny through the gloom when he caught it, a shudder so slight that if he didn't know the body on the cot next to his so well, he would have missed it.
Lifting his head he could see the subtle shift of Johnny’s arm, now covering his nose and mouth. He could tell his jaw was clenched. It took another shudder for Roy to realize.
Johnny was crying.
Roy was on his knees next to Johnny before he could think. He moved Johnny’s arm from across his face and pressed the hand to his lips as his other arm stretched across his chest in a sort of hug, until the hand could stroke the dark head.
"Oh love." He said almost soundlessly. "What did they do to you?"
Johnny shuddered again and tried to curl away, but Roy wouldn't let him, pulling the protesting man as close as possible.
"You're safe now. Here, with me."
Johnny finally made a noise, small and squelching.
"Let's go have some milk or something."
Johnny quietly complied and followed Roy into the kitchen. As soon as they were there Roy pulled Johnny into the shadowy corner by the ovens and simply held him.
"Don't make me talk about it." Johnny begged, his face hidden against Roy's shoulder. "Don't make me."
"Shhh Junior." Roy soothed. "Whatever and whenever you are ready. I love you. I'll keep you safe. I love you."
Roy didn't know how long they stood like that before Johnny pulled away and went to the fridge and pulled out the milk.
"Auntie would make us hot chocolate when the nightmares got too bad."
"Here, let me."
Johnny shook his head, leaning against Roy again for a minute.
"Together." His voice cracked.
As they stood side by side at the stove, Roy studied his partner, wondering what horrors were in his past. And suddenly, a sharp, painful, traitorous longing for Charlie broke over him, stealing his breath away.
Thank you to my awesome writing partner Xav for the RP!
If there was anything Cap hated, it was an arson fire… and chemical fires were the worst. This one had been bad, but it was mostly out now, and they were on mop up. He was carefully poking around what was left of the structure--an old warehouse--doing an initial investigation for the battalion chief. Too late Cap saw a small crate with some wires attached just as it began to sizzle. The odd thing was, it did not explode but white smoke floated all over the room. He turned to head out of the area, and everything went black.
He opened his eyes in the smoky room lying on his back and felt very dizzy and confused. Even his mask wasn’t helping much. Whatever was in the smoke must be very powerful. If he didn’t get out of that room soon, he might not get out at all…
It was Roy who found Cap. They’d been looking for him for a while, since he’d disappeared during the cleanup. Finally, Roy saw him lying on the floor in a small room at the back of the structure. “Johnny! I got him! Bring the biophone and drug box!” he shouted as he moved to Cap’s side and knelt beside him. He checked his airway and pulse and noted that his respirator was broken.
Uncharacteristically, Cap pulled away from Roy, his eyes wide with fear. Trembling, he tried to yank his wrist out of Roy’s hand. The only thing that kept him from bolting outright was the fact that he had taken in too much smoke, and he was too weak to move at the moment. Most of the smoke had dissipated by the time Roy had arrived.
Johnny came running, his hands full with their equipment. He found Roy kneeling over Cap, trying to calm him.
“Hey, Cap. It’s just me. You gotta let me get oxygen on you!” He glanced at Johnny, worry in his eyes. “I don’t know what’s up. Can you help me get him to settle down?”
John took his position on Cap’s other side. “Hey, Cap. You gotta calm down now. We’re tryin’ to help you.”
Cap swung his head back and forth between the two of them. “Leave me alone. Go away!’ His eyes were wild with a nearly unreasoning fear. He batted at Roy any time he tried to touch him.
“Get on the horn to Rampart,” Roy instructed Johnny. “I can’t get his vitals, but his pulse is racing, and his pupils are unequal and dilated. His respirator was broken. He must’ve been exposed to somethin’.”
John picked up the biophone and made the call. “Rampart, this is 51’s. We have a Code I. Be advised, it is Captain Stanley. Victim is uncooperative and combative, and we can’t get vitals or get him on oxygen at this time.” He went on to relay what information he could. “Rampart, this is a chemical fire and his respirator was broken. We think he’s been exposed to something.”
Dr. Brackett advised oxygen as soon as they could. Also, an IV with D5W TKO and transport as soon as possible.
John sucked in a deep breath and then made his voice as soothing as he could. “Come on now, Hank. We don’t want to hurt you. We’re just trying to help you. Please stop fighting and let us help you, Hank.” He’d been trained in how to handle resisting patients, but right now, none of it was doing him any good. Somehow, Cap just didn’t recognize him. “Roy, we’d better get Mike over here.”
Roy nodded. “Well, go get him then.”
Johnny scrambled to fetch the engineer. “Mike, we need you. Something’s up with Cap and he isn’t letting us treat him.”
Mike frowned as he hurried along with John who filled him in as they walked. “I’ve known him for a lot longer than you guys. He’s my best friend. Maybe I can get him to cooperate. I’ll try.”
When they got there, Roy was trying again to get oxygen on Cap, with no success. Cap had pushed him back on his rear and flung the oxygen mask away. “Aw, Cap. Come on!”
Mike quietly knelt down next to Hank, near his head. “Hey, what’s all this? What’s wrong?”
Hank was quiet for a minute then looked over at Mike. “Scared, Mikey.”
“Of what? These guys are your friends. You know them real well.”
Hank shook his head. “They don’t look right. Scary.” He sounded more like a petulant child than a 38-year-old fire captain.
Johnny and Roy looked at one another, their foreheads wrinkling with concern, but they knew better than to interrupt Mike’s efforts.
Mike nodded. “Okay, so they look scary. I get that. Do you trust me?”
Slowly Hank nodded. “Yeah.”
“Do I look scary?”
“Kinda, but I know you.”
“Listen to me. We need to help you get better. Okay?”
Cap’s chin came up and the fearful look returned. “Dunno. Don’t like it.”
Mike looked over at John and Roy, unsure if he was saying the right things.
“A little bit of oxygen and the right meds, Cap, and you’ll be feelin’ good as new,” Roy said calmly and quietly. “But you gotta let us treat you. Mike’ll stay by you the whole time.”
Mike nodded. “Would it help if I put the oxygen mask on you?”
Cap scowled, then nodded. “Okay.” The job was quickly accomplished.
Next it was time for the IV. Roy darted a glance at Mike, uncertain how Cap would take it. “The doc wants us to give you some meds, Cap. I’ll need to give you an IV. Just a little poke.”
Cap shook his head adamantly. It was obvious that whatever he had been exposed to was still running rampant through his system.
Mike felt bad for his friend but knew he wasn’t really dealing with an adult at the moment. He leaned over and asked, “Look, can you be brave for me, Hank?”
Cap frowned. “I hafta have it?”
Mike nodded. “Yep. You do.”
He scrunched his eyes shut as tight as he could. “Okay.”
Roy had the IV line in as quickly as he could. He didn’t miss Cap’s wince, though, when the needle pierced the skin. “I’m almost done, Cap. You’re doin’ great.” He modulated his tone as if he were talking Chris or Jenny through something difficult but stopped short of promising an ice cream cone when it was all over.
Marco poked his head in just then. “Clean up’s about finished. How’s Cap?
Roy looked up at the lineman. “He’s doin’ better. I think he’ll be just fine once all this junk is out of his system… whatever it is. Once he’s on the way to Rampart, we should try to figure out what hit him.” His glance turned to Mike. “Sure wish you didn’t have to drive the rig. You’d be a big help in the ambulance with us.”
“I’ll get over there as soon as I can. I would bet the shift will be on stand-down because of this anyway.”
“Yeah. Just help me get him packaged and prepare him to go with me, OK?” Roy lay a hand on Cap’s shoulder. “You doin’ OK there, Cap?”
Cap cringed and pulled away, but his movement was nowhere near as violent as before. His eyelids were beginning to droop a little. Being on high alert as he had been was exhausting.
“I think he’ll be fine,” John said. “His color’s a bit better already.”
They got Cap ready to transport and Mike reassured him he would be over to see him soon. Whatever had affected him seemed to be leaving his system because the fear was easing, which made it easier on John and Roy.
Once the ambulance arrived, they got him on the gurney and into the vehicle. Roy climbed in after him and had a seat on the bench. He sure hoped the toxin wouldn’t have any long-lasting effects. At least the worst of it was easing off now. “All right, Cap. We’re on the way. You’ll be all better in no time.”
Again, Cap scrunched up his eyes, as if he were frightened by his surroundings and stayed that way nearly the entire ride to Rampart. The fear was easing, but it wasn’t gone entirely. He said nothing to Roy at all.
Roy, meanwhile, kept up a soothing monologue. He talked about how Emily would be coming to see Cap at the hospital… how he’d probably have a shift or two off… anything he could think of to set Cap at ease. The ride to Rampart, thankfully, wasn’t more than about ten minutes. Soon, the ambulance was parking and the back doors swinging open. Dr. Brackett and Dixie were there to meet them. “All right, Cap. We’re here,” Roy said. “Doc’s gonna take a look at you. You know the doc. Dixie too. You’ll be fine.”
If he hadn’t been strapped to the gurney, Cap might have bolted outright, but he had no choice but to stay put, so he kept his eyes scrunched up and tried to ignore everyone and everything around him. Deep inside, he sure hoped the docs could give him something to stop this stupid reaction. He hated it.
“He’s real confused, Doc,” Roy said as he climbed out of the ambulance. “But he’s better than he was at first. Still, I don’t think he recognizes me yet.”
Very clearly, Cap replied, “You’re one of my twits.”
Dr. Brackett chuckled at that and winked at Roy. “Can’t argue with that, hose jockey.”
Roy just shook his head.
Cap relaxed a fraction. Maybe they could help him. Maybe…

Summer of 51′s Day 22 Wildcard Prompt “I can do it”
Suspended, now with Chapter 2
Link to full story there; Chapter 2, Cap’s perspective, is the new fic for today.
This could have fit today’s prompt “Fear,” because in this 2nd chapter they are somewhere between fear and grief, or it could have been another one for “Comfort,” but come to think of it, though Johnny doesn’t SAY the words directly, “I can do it” is kinda where he’s at here.
