So, I watched All Souls last night with my buddy who’s an investigator. She liked the cop bits, said they were reasonably accurate as opposed to what you normally see in movies. There’s a scene where Samuel's character disparages a confidential informant and she pointed at the screen and went “Hey, I used to work with that guy!”

I’m surprised at how much I liked the movie, considering that this is not a genre that interests me much. G-Easy as Silas was actually a stunning and rather unexpected performance and Mikey Madison and Mia Love absolutely killed it. The director, Emmanuelle Pickett, kept things dark and shaky and just right for a one night of a “the drug dealer is after me” bender. Even the side characters were well done, each with their well executed and fully owned place in the story.

Samuel plays a rather excellent “I’m bad but only a little” cop to Zach Villa’s “I’m the okay one” and it works. The opening sequence sets them both up beautifully (and very accurately) as two cops gunning for a drug dealer and the attendant consequences unfold throughout the movie, although in the end you might just think that Carcillo ain’t as bad as he’d like people to think he is.

I saw someone poke at Samuel’s American accent. Carcillo is an Italian name and if you hang out with folks who grew up in the US in homes that spoke Italian, that’s the kind of an accent you might get. Also, towards the very end, you can catch Carcillo growl a suspect into submission in a very Ghost-like fashion. Riley retired and went cop.

All in all, I think everyone did a great job and managed to make a movie about one of the most gruesome aspects of the ill-thought out and unnecessary war on drugs that one can watch with interest and on the edge of the seat.

Obligatory Carcillo shot, because he’s sure got the right to bear arms.

the worst part about having very specific niche interests is trying to track down a paper that doesn’t appear to be available anywhere online and the most of a trace you can find of it is mentioned in a phd thesis from 1999 or in the author’s cv where it’s like presented before the international sociology of sport association proceedings, oslo, norway :)

I’m so happy everyone is mad about the draft. Because it yet again exposes all the hypocrites in the hockey fandom. Y’all can google Eric Lindros and use a SA survivor as a gotcha but can’t google Billy Tibbetts, Mario Lemieux and Dan Quinn, Gordon Stuckless and Maple Leaf Gardens, Erin Skalde and the Pens, Dan Carcillos reign of terror, Patrick O’Sullivan and Alex Burrows, Alex Burrows and Jordin TooTooo, Pat Delorenzo Jr, Jeremy Jacobs, Doug Gilmour underage baby sitter he raped, the homophobic or racist tweets from y’all’s faves and sometimes their partners, all the instances of Blackface, rampant domestic abuse and sexual abuse, harassing female security guards with PTSD, DUI’s, convictions, rampant racism from players and coaches, Wags harassing each other, etc - the list goes on and on but y’all want to ignore it and pretend it begins and ends with the Chicago Blackhawks trash asses and that’s why I don’t take y’all seriously. Cause most people wouldn’t care about Kyle Beach if he’d played for another team - he’d be a footnote like the other people who’ve been violated in this league that y’all don’t care about. Hell had the Blackhawks not gotten the number 1 draft pick y’all wouldn’t be talking about him now. Mario Lemieux is worshiped by so many who are “disgusted” by this situation so that’s how I know y’all just be using the words “rape culture” as a slap in the face to us actual survivors anyways.

Do you mean this, anon ? Thanks for info but I do not deal with it . We know that Megan Butler is Tazer's girlfriend for a while and they got together at their vacay in Puerto Rico. He liked her last IN post so it's the beginning of July. The holiday was in June .

The woman next to Tazer is Megan B, what they do I have no clue. Also no idea about any links to Aubrey and frankly I don't bother. Also not about ramblings or theories and trolling of Crosby/Toews Kane Interesting delusional puckbunny boiler claiming I am some Lee. She posted about fictional Lee in her old rambling on Blogger. She claims there how Crosby is all bad and all people hack her comp, then how she will report you and people to Marketing Association and Lemieux, Morin...cookies, bots...

If Toews follows her it looks like two peas in the pot and not just pot smoking. Very blurred world at least at her end...She stalks all posts on IN, also Megan Butler and Amanda Grahovec. Then trashes them. She threw jealous tantrum after my find of similarity which is true, Tazer copied more things in past which is maybe a compliment. You don't bother about strangers, I don't.

I find only strange how quickly certain post with Megan Butler has appeared and whether Marketa BLW and her lawyers were right and Tazer messes with certain dangerous stuff so his bs play. If Megan B belongs to Aubrey etc I don't know and I don't care. Marketa BLW apparently has contacted Wirtz CEO regarding crazy Ashley,a lawsuit and Aubrey yesterday. It is possible that Megan Butler has asked her friends to post it as she lives in delusion it's M who checks all about her, wags, Tazer and into Tazer so no advantage taken over years with her look etc. Regarding Marketa it will s more self defense if her old crazy troll is followed by Tazer and more like trying to save Tazer Captain from trouble linked to Aubrey. No beep about Megan B and any idea of her links to Aubrey although she hails from Austin. If Megan did it and Cray Mrs Troll is right they smoke something it is more trouble for Tazer and bad influence by Megan. No one bothers about Tazer's gf's and never done with Lindsey from other Tumblr bloggers. It starts to be interesting with this tea..or dope..or what... apparently Carcillo posted that flying mushrooms are better than weed. Why does center Tazer needs wings anyway for his ehm .like up if it is true ? Lol He got just 4 points from 12! games. Day and night this season..

Random question, but did Matt Murray have 7 concussions or am I mixing him up with someone else?

I know Murray has had at least 4 (3 with PIT, 1 with OTT) concussions as a NHL caliber goaltender but I don't know of any players that have for sure had more than 8(Eric Lindros) be diagnosed and publicized.

I do know for certain that players that have retired from 7+ concussions include people like Carcillo, Crisp, Boynton, and Brent Lindros, but I don't know of any active players for certain that have had more than 5 or so concussions

Hockey executives respond to hazing and abuse allegations

Junior hockey executives are answering tough questions about hazing and allegations of extreme abuse in hockey.

Canadian Hockey League President Dan MacKenzie insists the culture of silence within the sport is no longer acceptable.

“This notion that, ‘What happens in the locker room stays in the locker room,’ is outdated," said Mackenzie. "We need to make sure what happens in the locker room is viewed to make sure everyone is protected.”

This comes in the wake of allegations made by former junior players in sworn affidavits submitted to an Ontario Supreme Court.

Players allege they were tortured and assaulted -- sometimes sexually -- by their teammates and team staff.

The Ontario and Quebec Major Junior Hockey Leagues have both announced new sensitivity training programs.

“To make sure that we give every opportunity and tools to the players in code, and see what they have to say,” said QMJHL Commissioner Gilles Courteau.

Bryce Swan, who played for the Amherst Ramblers and Halifax Mooseheads, was not hazed.

"But I’ve heard horror stories," said Swan, who knows players who endured hazing. “Do I believe those things would happen? I would say yes.”

Swan said he was exposed to strong leaders in hockey, like former Mooseheads owner Bobby Smith, who helped create a safe hockey environment.

“Plus Shawn MacKenzie, Marcel Pateneau, Al MacAdam and Cam Russell," said Swan. "They were great and they assured that none of this happened.”

McGill University, with its own troubled past involving hazing, has offered its views on the issue.

"To make sure that there is a clear understanding of what is an inappropriate initiation practice," said McGill's Fabrice Labeau. “The student athletes on one hand, the coaches and everyone who is around the sport at McGill.”

McGill University's hazing policy defines hazing as:

tattooing

head shaving

piercing

branding

paddling

whipping

beating

kicking

In short, Labeau basically said there is no such thing as acceptable hazing and these defined standards apply to everyone.

These recent allegations of hazing and extreme abuse come three years after former NHL player Dan Carcillo joined a group of ex-junior players, who alleged they endured hazing, bullying, harassment, physical and sexual abuse from their teammates, team staff and billet families.

Carcillo played for the OHL’s Sarnia Sting in 2002 when he was 17. The athlete said he and approximately 12 other Sting rookies suffered “almost constant abuse for the entire 2002-03 season,” according to the lawsuit.

“During showers, rookies were required to sit in the middle of the shower room naked while the older players urinated, spat saliva and tobacco chew on them,” the 46-page statement of claim from 2020 says. “At least once, the head coach walked into the shower room while this was occurring, laughed and walked out.”

A judge rejected approving the abuse lawsuit as Class Action but suggested an alternate path forward for Carcillo's group.
