Late Unlife is Stange update: Chapter 19 “Search and Rescue” is up!

Actually it’s been up since November, but I wanted to wait a while until I posted it here. It ended up being another split chapter due to length, and as of this post, I decided it may be a three parter.

On the up side, this and the next few chapters are gonna be bringing the casts together; Sean and their friends, Max and Chloe, Alex and Steph, etc. So there's going to be some catching up.

We also get other characters I've been wanting to introduce for a while. These include more of the Until Dawn cast and their part in the crossover, as well as a reunion for Rachel I’ve been sitting on for about two years.

This chapter was also going to be more action orientated with at least two vampire fights...but because of the split, that's being saved for the next two. Luckily, action is easy for me to write, so it's not like we'll have to wait too long.

As it stands, this part is going to be a “Breather Episode” for the characters to catch up with one another. So if that’s your cup of tea, enjoy. The next two chapters will be post when both parts are up.

With that said, a content warning: this chapter still features plenty of vampire related violence, as well as allusions to mass murder and torture, curtesy of one of our vampire antagonists, Alexander “Sawney” Bean. If you are remotely familiar with the legend of Sawney Bean, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what we’re in for.

On the plus side, the worst of it is left to the imagination. But I still wrote him as being one of the nastiest vampires in the story, and it really shows here.

One of the reasons I had to split this into three parts, is because the next couple of chapters will revolve around a fight against Sawney and his vampire followers, which isn’t going to be pretty.

I should also note that Unlife is Strange is now gonna have more ties in with my other crossover, Love’s Sacrifices. This isn’t really a “new” idea, since as far back as 2020, I did consider the stories connected in a someway, but wanted to keep story connections to a minimum.

But that all changed, when I ended up writing plot relevant cameos between stories. Oops.

Think of it as something that could be the same world, but is clearly set in a very different timeline. Both stories are now listed in my new AO3 series, the Fog of Worlds Saga; which will include stories involving around the Eldritch Location known as “The Fog”, which is what ties these stories together.

I already have a third one in mind crossing over Scream and Until Dawn. It’s still in the planning stage though.

me when sean literally dreamt about telling his dad he kissed a boy because it was so important to him and he never got to have that conversation before he died, and he imagined his dad supporting him endlessly because he was experiencing a lack of that irl

OKAY just to get this off my chest, it makes me so happy that both love interests are nice, good people in LiS: True Colours

Like, in the previous games it felt like you just can't win with the LI's. In LiS both Chloe and Warren suck, Chloe is a horrible person and toxic friend, and Warren is kind of just orbiting around you, creepily waiting for his chance when Max has given him hints before that she just wants to be friends.

In LiS 2, Sean is 16/17 while both LI's are supposedly over 18 so 🚩. Cassidy seems like a nice laid back person, but in order to romance Finn you literally need to put your 6 yo little brother in danger and it ends horribly for everyone involved. Tad homophobic gameplay innit.

Ngl in the past it felt a bit like the game is paving a way out for you instead of letting you explore the options. So the fact that in True Colours you can romance Steph or Ryan and it's still good and healthy for Alex is a major win in my eyes. Looks like the writers read their feedback and listened to the comments, and it really paid off. (not to say the game is perfect in any means, but a definite improvement on that front).

I honestly went into the game prepared to romance Steph and ended up being the biggest Ryan stan of all time. The man is just. so. goddamn. CUTE!!!! Steph still seems to be the popular choice, which I get because super cool musician D&D lesbian??? 👌👌👌👌👌 But i'm glad Ryan also gets appreciation from the fans because he's a great guy who treats Alex right, and his route is actually a bit more difficult and needs more attention from the player to make it happen.

I know the game came out ages ago but I'm having my midnight thoughts.

And yeah David’s here because I have a headcanon where Max gave him a Polaroid after Chloe’s death when she understood he was leaving Arcadia bay, so he could picture his new life on his way…

Seriously tho the fact that Life is strange 2 is the least favorite and underrated game of the saga piss me off. [SPOILERS AHEAD]

Can we talk about how this is the best Life is strange when we're talking about choices and story? Your choices in the game can change into multiple endings, your choices not only affects Sean but Daniel too, and the fact that you cannot rewind makes it more difficult to make the "right" decision. Every little detail can change the whole personality of Daniel, I know the first life is strange have that too but it ends with the same two endings "Chloe or Arcadia bay" in this one, you have a lot of endings that make you replay it over and over to see what ending you're gonna get. Not forget to mention that you can always rewind and change your choice if you want to (except when you're gonna save Kate).

The story is also something I really wanna talk, we accompany Sean to feel how is live in a xenophobic country (not everyone ofc), having to experience bad treatments just because of his race, the old guy in the gas station telling him that guys like Sean are the reason why the made the wall between México and USA, those two randoms humiliating him by talking and singing in spanish. But the worst part is when they get to wall and the border patrol shoot Daniel and arrest Sean just because.

Anyways, I don't wanna talk too much but Life is strange 2 deserves all the love, I know a lot of y'all expected to see Max and Chloe again (me too lol) but the story and the characters are really good too, my favorite is the first game but this second one has a special place in my heart and I hate seeing how underrated it is. I hope to see more Life is strange 2 content and appreciating this amazing story. 💗
