Animals, Vol. 14, Pages 927: Dietary Supplementation with Bupleuri Radix Reduces Oxidative Stress Occurring during Growth by Regulating Rumen Microbes and Metabolites

Oxidative stress (OS) in ruminants is closely associated with disease; thus, improving antioxidant capacity is an important strategy for maintaining host health. Bupleuri Radix (BR) could significantly improve host health and stress levels. However, the clear antioxidant mechanism of the function of BR remains unknown. In the current study, LC-MS metabolomics combined with 16S #rRNA gene sequencing was employed to explore the effects of BR on rumen microbiota and metabolites in Shanbei Fine-Wool Sheep (SFWS), and Spearman correlation analyses of rumen microbiota, metabolites, and OS were performed to investigate the mechanism of antioxidant function of BR. Our results indicated that as SFWS grows, levels of OS and antioxidant capacity increase dramatically, but providing BR to SFWS enhances antioxidant capacity while decreasing OS. Rumen microbiota and OS are strongly correlated, with total antioxidant capacity (T-AOC) showing a significant negative correlation with Succiniclasticum and a positive correlation with Ruminococcus. Importantly, the Chao1 index was significantly negatively correlated with malondialdehyde (MDA) and positively correlated with superoxide dismutase (SOD) and T-AOC. Two biomarkers connected to the antioxidant effects of BR, 5,6-DHET and LPA (a-25:0/0:0), were screened according to the results of metabolomics and Spearman analysis of rumen contents, and a significant relationship between the concentration of rumen metabolites and OS was found. Five metabolic pathways, including glycerolipid, glutathione, nucleotide, D-amino acid, and inositol phosphate metabolism, may have a role in OS. The integrated results indicate that rumen microbiota and metabolites are strongly related to OS and that BR is responsible for reducing OS and improving antioxidant capacity in post-weaned SFWS. 1. 估计

The verb 估计 means to draw a rough inference from certain conditions.

我还不习惯北方的气候，估计是天气太干。

你有没有去问问小王？估计他应该有办法。

机场通知飞机晚点一个小事，估计他下午六点才能到上海。

估计 versus 可能

Similarity: Both indicate rough inferences drawn from certain conditions.

今天的工作估计/可能完不成了，因为除了点儿问题。◈

Differences:

a/ In case ◈, 估计 is a verb which can be used directly as the predicate, followed by a verb or a clause, while 可能 is a modal verb used only as a modifier before the predicate verb.

明天就可以上网查成绩了，我估计这次考试考得不错。

明天就可以上网查成绩了，我这次考试估计/可能考得不错。

b/ 可能 can be used as an adjective to indicate the possibility of something to be realized or to come true, while 估计 cannot be used this way.

他这么多天没来上课，最可能的原因就是他回国了。

c/ 可能 can be used after, forming (most likely), which can be used either before or after the subject to strengthen the affirmation of the estimation; 估计 cannot be used this way.

2. 来不及

The verb 来不及 indicates something cannot be done because time is short. It can either be used independently or be followed by verbs.

等你身体出现问题了，后悔就来不及了。

今天来不及开会了，明天我们再找时间说这个问题吧。

你不是和同学约了下午两点见面吗？再不走就来不及了。

3. Reduplication of separable words

The reduplication of a separable word may indicate a short time, an attempt or randomness among other things, the form being "AAB", such as 散散步 (to go for a walk), 帮帮忙 (to do a favor), 睡睡觉 (to have some sleep) and 游游泳 (to go swimming).

咱们午饭后就去附近的公园散散步把。

It was no secret that Danae wasn’t the biggest fan of the older hero kids. The younger ones were typically fine since they had more time to grow used to the villains living alongside them, but the older ones were just unbearable. Which is why it was a god forsaken mystery as to why Danae was sliding into a booth next to one of the eldest hero kids--Li Chao--in a smallish coffee shop just off Auradon University campus.

From my most recent lesson with my tutor in which we learned vocab related to movies:

我没有听到你 - wo3 mei3 you3 ting1 dao4 ni3 (I didn’t hear you)

打扫 - da3 sao3 (to clean)

用了小时打扫 - yong4 le xiao3 shi2 da3 sao3 (used an hour to clean/spent an hour to clean)

上节课 - shang4 jie2 ke4 (last (previous) class)

类型 - lei4 xing2 (genre/type) -> 属的类型，电影类型，音乐类型 (genre of book (note: my teacher said that you need 的 when describing a book genre, but you don’t when describing other things that have genres), genre of movie, genre of music)

你喜欢什么类型男生？- ni3 xi3 huan1 shen2 me lei4 xing2 nan2 sheng1? (what type of guy do you like?) -> my teacher said you can also use 类型 to describe your type :D

地道 - di4 dao(no tone) (authentic) -> in response to the question above, I asked my teacher if you could also use “菜“ to describe your type, and she laughed/ looked really surprised and asked me how I knew that because it’s a very authentic way to say it. I was like “umm....I have friends who teach me fangirl slang” XD

以后，你和朋友聊天，你可以聊电影 - yi3 hou1, ni3 he3 peng2 you3 liao3 tian1, ni3 ke3 yi3 liao3 dian4 ying3 (afterwards, you and your friends talk, you can talk about movies) -> note: I’d never seen 以后 used at the beginning of a sentence like this, but my teacher said in this context it just means afterwards/in the near future

Fishes, Vol. 8, Pages 369: Host Habitat as a Dominant Role in Shaping the Gut Microbiota of Wild Crucian Carp (Carassius auratus)

Current knowledge on the fish gut microbiota has largely been obtained from experiments on laboratory-reared animals. Here, the crucian carp (Carassius auratus) with a mean weight of 159.9 ± 11.4 g (mean ± SD) were collected from their natural habitats (i.e., Wuhu lake and Poyang lake, China), and the gut microbiota were analysed by using the next-generation sequencing of 16S #rRNA gene. We obtained more than 430,000 high-quality reads, which constituted more than 1200 operational taxonomy units (OTUs), revealing extremely diverse microbes in the fish gut. Proteobacteria, Fusobacteria, Bacteroidetes and Firmicutes were detected as the prominent phyla (each > 1% of total abundance) within the gut microbiota, regardless of the host habitat or the gut segment (i.e., foregut vs. hindgut). Although the microbes in the hindgut were more diverse (OTU number, Shannon and Chao1; One-way Anova, p > 0.05) than in the foregut, the host habitat had a significant role in shaping the community structures (MRPP, ANOSIM, PERMANOVA, p < 0.01). آموزش انواع لحن زبان چیینی

لحن های چینی چه می شوند؟

لحن ها تغییرات در تلفظ مصوت ها بوده و به گام های موسیقی شبیه هستند که می توانند بالا و پایین بروند.

این یعنی کلمات هم می توانند به همین شکل تلفظ شوند اما همچنان بسته به اینکه کدام یک برای مصوت ها به کار رفته است معنای متفاوتی داشته باشند.

آموزشگاه زبان

اگر هرگز یک زبان آهنگین را یاد نگرفته اید این جنبه ای چالش بر انگیز از زبان چینی برای شما خواهد بود - و راستش ر بخواهید به همین دلیل یکی از سخت ترین بخش های زبان چینی است.

با اینحال خبر خوب این است که چینی ماندارین تنها چهار لحن اصلی دارد (که کمتر از بسیاری از زبانهای آسیایی و چینی دیگر است).

به خاطر سپردن این چهار لحن در چینی نسبتاً سر راست هم هست چراکه با هم فرق دارند.

پیش از اینکه شروع به یادگیری لغات واقعی در چینی کنید، پیشنهاد می کنم کمی زمان برای حفظ کردن صدای هر چهار لحن اختصاص دهید تا وقتی شروع به یادگیری کلمات می کنید با لحن درست انجامش دهید.

هرچه زودتر روی لحن ها متمرکز شوید، اشتباهات کمتری خواهید کرد و تلفظتان صحت بیشتری خواهد داشت.

به این مثال نگاه کنید تا ببینید چطور عدد پس از هر شماره به شما درباره ی تلفظ هر مصوت راهنمایی می دهد:

· در انگلیسی: You go to the store

· در چینی: 你去超市

· پین یین: ni3 qu4 chao1 shi4

یک راه عالی برای تمرین اینست که زمانی زیادی را به شنیدن چینی و خواندن همزمان پین یین و دقت کردن به اعداد آهنگین کنید تا بتوانید تفاوت را بشنوید.

به یاد داشته باشید اگر به خوبی نشنوید نمی توانید صدایی را تلفظ کنید پس لیسنینگ بخش مهمی از مسلط شدن بر لحن ها است.

اگر مرتباً به این روش تمرین کنید، خیلی زود می فهمید که لحن ها جنبه ی غیر ممکنی از زبان چینی نیستند. بلکه تنها چیز دیگری هستند که باید یاد بگیرید و برای تسلط بر آن به زمان و تمرین نیاز دارید.

Quercetin is protective against short-term dietary advanced glycation end products intake induced cognitive dysfunction.

PMID: 32065675 Abstract Title: Quercetin is protective against short-term dietary advanced glycation end products intake induced cognitive dysfunction in aged ICR mice. Abstract: Dietary advanced glycation end products (dAGEs) might be potential toxins involved in the pathogenesis of Alzheimer's disease (AD). Quercetin is a flavonoid possessing neuroprotective effects. We aimed to explore whether a 21 days of dAGEs intake would result in cognitive dysfunction in aged ICR mice, and the protective effects of quercetin, with potential mechanisms explored. Fourteen-month old ICR mice were randomly assigned into four groups, that is, Control, AGEs, quercetin, and AGE diet supplemented with quercetin. Key markers involved in Aβ, tau, and neuroinflammation from hippocampus and cortex were measured via western blot. Gut microbiota and short chain fatty acids profiles from intestinal contents were measured via 16S rRNA gene sequencing and gas chromatography (GC), respectively. Quercetin alleviated cognitive impairment induced by dAGEs in aged mice. This might be associated with that quercetin reduced cathepsin B, tau phosphorylation, and neuroinflammation, and elevated α-diversity index (ACE, Chao1, and Shannon index), and reduced phylum Verrucomicrobia of gut microbiota. PRACTICAL APPLICATIONS: Alzheimer's disease (AD) has been regarded as the commonest cause of progressive dementia for the elderly. This study is the very first to demonstrate that even a short-term dietary advanced glycation end product (dAGEs) intake induced impaired cognitive function in aged ICR mice, and querectin is capable of reversing dAGEs-induced cognitive dysfunction. Reduced tau phosphorylation, neuroinflammation, and altered gut microbiota profiles may be involved in querectin's protective effects against dAGEs-induced cognitive impairment. Our study suggested that quercetin supplementation might be beneficial for improving cognitive function in elderly subjects with high consumption of dAGEs such as grilling, frying, and broiling of food.
