Distantly Jaiden was aware that Charlie and Cellbit were having a conversation with Phil but her brain struggled to grasp onto it. She felt insane, she felt mad, and she wanted to simply die at this point. A grounding touch was placed against her elbow and she looked up to see Baghera. The woman looked grim, dried blood still splattered in her fur but she was warm and for a moment that sliver of human touch was something Jaiden would kill for again. 

“How are you?” she asked. “You seem… out of it.” 

Jaiden laughed dryly. “We’re definitely cursed and there’s no point in trying so yeah I feel a little bit out of it. There’s no point to any of this!” She yanked her gaze away from Baghera’s soulful eyes to stare into the heat of the campfire. “I’m going to die soon. Again and again.”

“Hey!” Baghera said sharply. “Non, cheri. I will never let anything happen to you. I will keep you safe. I will get us out of here if it takes every bit of strength in my body.” 

The warmth and sincerity of her words stunned Jaiden into silence and she couldn’t help but look back over. “Thank you, Baghera.”

1 Seven Days: Monday-Thursday & Seven Days: Friday-Sunday

Japan 2015 (grey)

Never doubt my ability to recommend this show. One of the best live action yaois ever made, with perfectly structured angst, fantastic characters and acting, and no problematic tropes (rare in Japanese BL). The leads have excellent chemistry although it’s low heat there’s still some really cute mutual kisses.

2 To My Star

Korea 2021 (Viki)

In the mood for something more grown up? TMS is a touch quirky to get into, but utterly charming once it hits its stride. This is the ultimate grumpy/sunshine pairing plus the most appealing light-filled kitchen of our dreams.

I don't like season 2 but others do. It is very clever.

3 We Best Love: No. 1 For You & Fighting Mr. 2nd

Taiwan 2021 (WeTV)

How about a uni + office BL? Brilliant acting saved this show from a messy (pretty classically manga) narrative with a lot of angst. You have to buy in to a yaoi aesthetic with this one, accept that things move fast and occasionally confuse, but that everything will be okay. It’s the ultimate pining seme meets the ultimate tsundere uke. WBL successfully manages to combine the best elements of Korean, Thai, and Japanese BL as it exists right now. Couple that to the insane chemistry from the leads, and we have one of the greatest BLs of all time, cooking higher heat to a recipe I doubt anyone else will ever be able to replicate since only Taiwan is this flexible.

4 He's Coming to Me

Thailand 2019 (YouTube)

With only 8 8 eps and from GMMTV this is short, high quality and bingable for Thailand. Boy and ghost boy fall in love, must solve ghost’s murder. Peak pining but also pretty tame, features my favorite sweet but important coming out sequence in all BL. The third in my precious triumvirate of unbeatable Thai BLs, that are only nominally BL because the story, acting, and production values are so good.

(Together with Until We Meet Again & A Tale of Thousand Stars - those 2 are longer so I don't consider them as bingable, but if you want something to get really stuck into? Go to town.).

5 Color Rush

Korea 2021 (Viki)

A unique paranormal twist elevates this classic high school drama into a pitch-perfect allegory for the queer coming out experience and one of the best BLs of all time (I will fight you on this). Here's my battle essay.

6 HIStory 2: Crossing the Line

Taiwan 2018 (Viki)

Lin Pei Yu directs this sports romance (volleyball) with a good boy/bad boy pairing, and my hands-down favorite of the HIStory franchise. There is no clear seme/uke. Ostensibly it's high school set but Taiwan doesn't care about age appropriate actors. It's a very soft sweet romance with some ridiculously easily overcome conflict. There's great kisses but it's medium heat. The side dishes are the stepbrother trope but they’re very tame, and there’s no other triggers. It's not just my favorite of the franchise, it’s one of my favorite BLs with a perfect happy ending.

(The second H2 is also pretty good.)

7 Cherry Magic

The sweetest fluffiest magical realism BL, packaged as a pinning office romance, very low heat (practically chaste) but the cutest. It’s truly great.

8 Light On Me

Korea 2021 (Viki)

Korea does an elegant pastiche of traditional live action yaoi but all tropes are cleverly deployed to bolster one of the most riveting love triangles ever put on screen… and I don’t like love triangles. LoM strategically tailors classic BL tropes to 2 different semes resulting in pristine pacing, plot, and character development, explicitly serving narrative (not just to tick boxes). LoM is a master class in trope drops. (If you write fanfic or romance you should study this show.) Full review.

9 Be Loved In House: I Do

Taiwan 2021 Viki

A cute classy office set BL with a few plot raised eyebrows, but no other concerns. ALL THE TROPES plus a general sweet softness that’s pretty rare from Taiwan, who usually prefer to go hard, but all their signature domesticity.

10 Lovely Writer

Thailand 2021 (YouTube)

Thailand criticizes itself and the BL industry while simultaneously giving us classic seme/uke with great chemistry in a one-two punch of “we love it, but are we supposed to? and must we think this hard, yet enjoy it SO MUCH?” This show won’t appeal or make sense to those who don’t already have at least some Thai BL watching experience. What Lovely Writer does, at heart, is reexamine Thai BL has done to queerness, but in a very gentle way that has more to do with Thai BL growing up than any actual queer authenticity. It’s not parody or pastiche, but it is self reflective and trying to correct for some chronic mistakes. Whether it is ultimately successful in this matter is going to depend on the watcher’s relationship to BL and queer identity. But that’s what makes this show beautiful, interesting, and thought provoking. And I, for one, applaud the effort even if I didn’t personally connect to the characters.

Lando scrolled through the comments. He knew it was the worst thing to do after a day like this but he couldn’t stop, his whole body was frozen except for the thumb swiping up and down.

He was angry.

He wished he could be angry at the team like last race. But now he was angry with himself. Oscar had gotten P9, Lando was very happy for him but the disappointment of getting P19 hurt more. He was supposed to be the more experienced driver in the team, that meant no mistakes. Maybe he was a terrible driver after all and that the only luck had come from the car? This was his fifth year in Formula 1 and he couldn’t make a minor mistake like this then! He couldn’t even be mature enough to face the team.

Here he sat, hidden away in a storage room, the only light except the bright phone screen came from a naked light bulb hanging from the ceiling. Boxes filled with unnecessary equipment were stacked all around him and a barely audible buzzing noise almost drove him insane. Still, he’d rather be in there than outside meeting the looks filled with disappointment from the team or the never ending stream of questions from the press.

Tears had started gathering in the corner of his eyes as comment after comment washed over him. Stupid. He was so stupid. Everyone was right, he was an immature and stupid kid. His hands had started shaking despite how tightly he gripped his phone. His breathing picked up the pace and a single tear slipped away from his eye. He was just about to completely lose it-

The door handle was pushed down from the outside, someone pushed the door open, letting more light in.

“Oh cheri,” a soft voice sighed before the person quickly crammed himself inside and closed the door behind, ending up on the floor next to Lando and embracing him in a tight hug. Lando could recognise that voice from anywhere. Pierre was gently stroking the younger man's back and whispering comforting words in French.

"I'm so stupid," Lando whispered, hiding his face in the crook of Pierre's neck, tears dangerously close to falling.

"No, you're not stupid," Pierre's voice was so sincere Lando wanted to believe him. "Everyone makes mistakes, it doesn't matter in the long run,"

Lando only sniffled and melted into Pierre's arms even more, clutching the thin shirt.

"I don't think a stupid driver would've gotten a single podium," Pierre continued. "Or a pole," Lando could almost hear the small smile in his boyfriend's voice, a smile filled with pride. "Or have become best of the rest in a tractor,"

Lando let out a chuckle and finally looked up at the French man.

"Everyone has bad days and makes mistakes, it doesn't define them," Pierre was smiling down at him and swiped the few tears that had spilled on Lando's cheek with his thumb. "And the best thing about having a bad result is that we're allowed ice cream,"

Lando chuckled again. "I don't think Jon would like that very much,"

"Who said anything about telling him?" Pierre snickered and kissed his boyfriend's temple. "It'll be okay, Lando, I promise,"

And Lando felt himself start to believe that too.

Two Florida cops — a lieutenant and a detective sergeant — allegedly handcuffed and jailed their 3-year-old son to “discipline” him for having difficulties with potty training.

Daytona Beach Shores police Lt. Michael Schoenbrod told a Department of Children and Families caseworker that he took the boy to headquarters in October and put him behind bars, the News-Journal reported, citing body-cam video.

The child was jailed twice, the first time on Oct. 5 and again the following day, when he was also cuffed, according to the outlet.

“He was crying. I was getting the response I expected from him,” Schoenbrod told the caseworker, the footage from a Volusia County sheriff’s deputy reportedly shows.

He said his son promised to never poop in his pants again after his time in the slammer.

Schoenbrod admitted that he also had resorted to the jail tactic about nine years ago, when he disciplined his then-4-year-old son for hitting a girl in preschool, the newspaper said. Lt. Michael Schoenbrod and Detective Sgt. Jessica Long, of the Daytona Beach Shores Police Department in Florida, allegedly placed their 3-year-old son in jail twice after he had potty-training accidents.Daytona Beach Shores Department of Public Safety

“I took him to the jail and he sat there. And I watched him … and he was crying and everything, and to this day, if you mention, like, that incident, he’s just like, ‘I would never do that again.’ It was effective,” Schoenbrod told the caseworker.

“So that’s why I did it with this. He didn’t hit anybody, but I figured the same thing, discipline. And he didn’t want to go back, so …,” the lieutenant added, according to the report.

It was not immediately clear whether Schoenbrod and Detective Sgt. Jessica Long faced discipline, according to the News-Journal, which said it obtained copies of memos from Public Safety Director Michael Fowler informing the couple about a probe.

The top cop told the paper he would consult with the city attorney before commenting.

Schoenbrod and Long — who live together and have the child together — and their attorney, Michael Lambert, have not responded to the paper’s requests for comments. A Department of Children and Families rep acknowledged a request for comment but did not offer one.

“It’s just disgusting that somebody would drag our family through the mud like this,” Schoenbrod said in the video, while Long could be heard calling the investigation “insane,” the News-Journal reported. Meanwhile, City Clerk Cheri Schwab said a judge has sealed the records in a March 24 case that lists Schoenbrod “et al.” as plaintiffs and the State Attorney’s Office “et al.” as defendants.

The couple also filed a separate case against State Attorney R.J. Larizza on May 18, but the initial filing and several subsequent motions have been marked as confidential, according to the News-Journal.

Antonio Jaimes, an attorney with the Volusia County Clerk of Court’s Office, told the outlet that the cases “are confidential due to motions for confidentiality filed within the cases.”

But Michael Barfield, director of public access initiatives for the Florida Center for Government Accountability, argued that the internal-affairs documents should be made public.

“A pending motion to determine confidentiality of court records does not have any impact on the city’s IA (internal affairs) investigation,” Barfield told the News-Journal in an email.

“A party cannot make a record that is subject to production under Chapter 119 (of the state public records law) confidential by merely filing a lawsuit requesting confidentiality and then not setting a hearing on the motion,” he added.

Former city attorney Lonnie Groot also has reportedly sought records about any officer placing a child in a jail cell, as well as investigations into “alleged child abuse by an officer.”

“This whole matter just does not pass the basic smell test from a transparency and governmental openness perspective,” he wrote City Attorney Becky Vose, the outlet said.

And a former South Daytona police officer who describes himself as a civil-rights activist said that when he requested the findings of the professional standards probe, he was provided an estimate of $3,398.40 − about 40 hours of work at $84.96 per hour — to review and redact the documents. 

“It’s a severe matter of public interest when you have strong allegations of that kind,” Dickinson told the paper. “Rumors are being brought to you by fellow law enforcement … and you want to make sure the stuff they’re saying isn’t true.”

Phew! What an episode!! Many, many, major spoilers below for The Boys S3 E6, Herogasm.

Okay... where to start with this episode. Let's start with the title event - Herogasm. How depraved do I sound if I say, it wasn't actually that depraved? Lol! I think I was just expecting something crazier? Is that crazy?! Lol!! Maybe I've simply read and written too much smut? 😂

Don't get me wrong, there were some crazy ass moments. Annie telling Love Sausage how good MM was at "cunnalingus". 😆

But just, all in all, I guess considering it was the boys and Herogasm has been talked about so much, I was just expecting more insane shit. Lol! Like for me, the first 15 minutes of episode 1 was WAY more depraved and insane! This was just a bunch of people having sex, some of it a bit kinky. 😄

Still enjoyable though. I'm a little sad Soldier Boy didn't take part, especially considering he apparently founded it!! 😜 (Founded it with Stormfront - or Liberty as she was known then! So Homelander and Soldier Boy both fucked Stormfront!!) 🤯

Anyway, much, MUCH more on SB coming up.

Now, for Kimiko and Frenchie. Holy shit!

But no, it was just her, which should have made her feel like a badass and an ACTUAL fucking hero, not a fake one like the SUPES. She came through. She saved them all!! So when she said to Frenchie that it just proved she was the monster, it made me wanna cry!! 🥺

Ugh, I just love them so much and I want them both to be safe so badly!! 😩😩

So now, MM and Annie. So...I feel like this is gonna be a really unpopular opinion, but, I think they're wrong. Let me explain.

The scene where MM was telling Annie about what happened to his family...his Grandpa - tears - so many tears! (Laz acted the shit out of that scene, btw!)

And I completely understand how that would trigger his OCD and a fucking lifetime of trauma. But I don't think killing SB is actually going to change any of that. When has revenge EVER given someone lasting peace. I think he has to deal with the trauma, and it sure would be great if SB would stop acting like a machismo, uncaring dick when MM confronts him about killing his family.

When MM was like, "You killed my family."

And SB was like, "Which one?"

I was like, "Fuck Soldier Boy!! You are an asshole!"

But wtf was MM thinking trying to go after him? The halothane was a dumb enough move, but then when it obviously no longer worked against him (maybe that's why SB was in the big chamber in Russia? Grew an immunity to the halothane?) MM goes after him with just his fists? 😲😲😲 And then later, just before Starlight stops him, he was cocking his gun to go after him. Like, really MM, a gun?!

And I get where both Annie and MM are coming from, but I don't think their solution is it, at least not on its own. I think they're gonna need a combination of MM and Annie's plan, along with Hughie and Butcher's plan.

Because to my mind, there's no doubt whatsoever that they're going to need more strength and firepower to defeat Homelander than just Starlight and Maeve (if she's even still alive! 😩😬)

So, I completely get Butcher and Hughie's reasoning (although it makes me very sad that Hughie's reasoning is also partly set in that toxic masculinity BS that little boys grow up with.)

Anyway, I just think that they'll need a SUPED-up Hughie and Butcher, maybe a temporarily Suped -up Kimiko, Starlight, Maeve, and maybe one or two more "decent supes", maybe Neuman, DEFINITELY Soldier Boy to have a shot at bringing down Homelander. Doesn't mean there aren't going to be problems there, doesn't mean it's a perfect plan, but they've gotta pull together to kill that SOB.

Anyway, I'm so sorry I've rambled on for SO long - but this episode was INCREDIBLE!!

I'll end with Soldier Boy. So, I still haven't changed my position on him. Hearing what he did to MM's family is completely horrifying, and he definitely deserved to be brought to justice for that kind of reckless disregard for civilians lives.

But to my mind, he's served that time. Nearly 40 years of torture? I feel like that's his debt paid. I know it doesn't fix MM, but as I said above, I think MMs help lies elsewhere. But a sincere and real apology (like A-Train gave Hughie before he...died?!! 😬😳😲) might go a long way to helping. Not holding my breath for that though.

Because, as we saw in this episode, that Toxic Masculinity BS is strong and pervasive in SB too, probably much more so than Hughie. He was born and raised in it. He won't even admit that he's experiencing major PTSD, probably because he thinks it's weak.

Both SB and Hughie's storylines this season have actually given me a wider appreciation for just how unbelievably damaging TM is, not just to feminism, not just to society as a whole, but to EVERY boy who's raised believing this absolute bullshit, and to every grown man who can't admit he has any emotions. It honestly breaks my heart.

So, when it comes to SB, I feel like I'm not sure he could ever uproot that horrible toxicity. I mean, I SERIOUSLY hope so, but it may be impossible.

But, for me, all of that, including the fact that he doesn't even remember what happens when he goes nuclear, it makes him more of a sympathetic character.

I still really wanna know what he did to his team to make them hate him so much? Did they just feel like he was out of control and too powerful to deal with? Or did he actually do something heinous that they wanted him gone for.

I'm so curious for more!!

Oh and, P.S. - the fight between Homelander, SB, Butcher, and Hughie was epic on another level!! I watched it 3 times in a row. I LOVE that they ACTUALLY scared Homelander enough that he flew away like the true coward he is. I need so many more team ups!! But I need MM, Starlight, Maeve, and maybe Neuman to join in.

Thoughts on The Boys S3 so far

I’m flabbergasted and intrigued. I want next Friday to be here right now.

I’m sorta let down by the opening after Kripke built it up so much in the interviews, but I did enjoy the realization of the Thanus meme.

Uh, Butcher, you’re starting to hallucinate full convos with your worst enemy and dead brother. It is time for a therapist. Also I liked how they built up the decision of Butcher taking the Temp V. With wanting to full out reject it at first, then being tempted via the prior imagine spot with Homelander and Lenny, the first confrontation with Gunpowder, thinking of finally listening to what Hughie and everyone have been trying to tell him about chilling out, to being pushed over the edge into doing it with the news on Neumann being a plant.

Also that V lasted a lot longer than I thought it would. Maybe those rumors/theories about the side effects being potential permanent powers might be true. 

Was not expecting Stan Edgar to play such a larger role in the season, especially with the reveal of him being the adopted father of Victoria Neumann.

We finally see Black Noir’s face and hear him talk! And then immediately find out why he never takes off the mask or speaks.

I liked the Kimiko and Frenchie moments and their drama of wanting to be normal but hating themselves and why they choose to side with people they dislike. I wonder when Frenchie will get captured as predicted in the previews? Also sad that Cherie is leaving the show.

The Ryan and Butcher moments were sweet, it saddened me when they had their falling out in the 3rd episode, but I doubt it’s going to stay that way the entire season. And they are definitely going to be diving into Billy’s whole hang-ups regarding his childhood abuse this season. And the Temp V thing will probably play a part in confronting his Supe prejudice as well.

Also Billy deciding to be Santa and giving near everyone presents?? And Ryan is insanely good at stop-motion videos. He should upload that shit on Youtube, he’d get tons of likes.

The drama with MM is pretty hot, I can’t believe they broke up between seasons and for Monique to immediately get with some fucking Homelander fan?!! What were you thinking woman?!! Really interested to see what the full beef between him and Soldier Boy fully is.

I didn’t know how they could make Homelander even worse but they somehow did, he is definitely in full sadism mode this season. That scene with the Deep and the octopus man. Also I fucking hate you Kripke for subjecting me naked Homelander, fuck you.

Also surprise Stormfront and also surprise suicide. From the supposed leaks, I thought Homelander would kill her but she offed herself after finding out Homie wanted nothing to do with her whole Nazi army thing. Also I saw what they did there with the subversion of that famous moment in All Star Superman with Supes and the suicidal girl.

Supersonic was actually a pretty nice guy, but he is definitely dying by the end of the season. He has that air written all over him. And we got swerved on the love triangle plotline between him, Starlight, and Hughie it seems, because instead we have..

Homelight unfortunately confirmed, which means those connected rumors about Butcher x Maeve are definitely happening. Hughie is going to go Ballistic when he finds out, to where Billy’s not even going to need to convince him to take Temp V.

Interested to see where Hughie’s arc goes this season, now that his attempt to get clean was destroyed and he’s forced back into the violent methods. Especially with the drama surrounding Starlight and their relationship. They might end up on the outs again by the end of the season in contrast with how they started out in s3.

Didn’t get much of Soldier Boy, but they had me really thinking for a moment that he was a gay pedo but that apparently was just rumors in show. Waiting until the next episodes come out till I can fully get a gauge on him.

Absolutely despised the young Starlight flashback and is a another reminders of why child pageants should be destroyed.

Oh and Teddy Stilwell is back and has powers. Why does it not surprise me that Stilwell injected her own baby with super drugs?

All in all, for the first 3 episodes it’s mostly setup for the season and character exploration rather a full deep dive into action and gore. There’s some fights that are more scuffles and some gore, but nothing really major. So bit of a slow start for those wanting to see big super fights. But still fun to watch if you’re invested in the characters and story.

The one thing in life that pisses me off is guilt-tripping. Guilt-tripping has not ONCE worked on me, ever. In fact, it has warranted the most insane reactions I’d ever done on impulse. One time my dad asked me to go to the grocery store to get him a pack of zebra cakes, I said “oh yeah, just a sec, I need to submit this assignment.” And he went “wow, you’re so cold hearted. You won’t even do this one thing for me even though I’m tired from work.” I stopped what I was doing, looked up at him and went “Fine.” THEN I proceeded to choose a Walmart one hour away and purposely grabbed something similar but just off enough that it didn’t taste the same. He never tried to guilt me like that again.

Anyway, this is about some aggressively pathos piece of shit mail I got the other day telling me to vote against some people in North Carolina, trying to “warn” of something that could “affect children” and I opened it to see that it was a fucking anti-abortion propaganda pamphlet hoping to get some last minute votes for senate and whatnot. The thing really did its damndest to play into the “but think of the children 🥺” I am, and I think what’s best for the kids right now is to make sure that they choose spite over ever falling into pity party schemes and vote for assholes in elections. So that unfortunately means that I now gotta curse whoever is tryna throw Cheri, Lucy and Sam under the bus on the next blood moon eclipse for testing just how spiteful I can be for trying to trick me into doing what they want.
