Clerks #3: "Leonardo is Caught in the Grip of an Outbreak of Randal's Imagination and Patrick Swayze Either Does or Doesn't Work in the New Pet Store" | ‎February 20, 2001 (DVD) | Unaired
Due to a misunderstanding involving a chimp at a nearby pet store and some rancid burritos that Randal is irresponsible about, the US government orders Leonardo be locked down. They believe an outbreak, similar to the one in the motion picture Outbreak has occurred. So it's up to Dante and Randal to advance the plot and eventually save the day. For some reason, it ends with Dante being browbeat into saying he's gay on the news.
It's funny to think about what qualified as edgy around this time. The show opens with a fourth-wall-break where Dante and Randal address the audience. They condescend to various women writing in (including a "Jennifer Schwalbach", shout out to Kevin's wife!!!) to complain that there are no women on the show. They do address the fact that there are no black people on the show and introduce Lando. Lando is seen throughout the episode in various fake-outs, where you think he might impact the plot or have a line but doesn't. It's funny, but man, it would not play the same way today.
This one features Gilbert Gotfried as Patrick Swayze, who seems to be working at the pet store but acts like he's studying for a role. Word has it they tried to get Swayze to portray himself and they were told by his people that he wouldn't do it and has no sense of humor about himself. And now he's dead!!! This is sorta evocative of James Woods on the Simpsons, working at the Apu Store. Hey speaking of Woods, he's in this. Like the gags about inclusion, he also plays differently today.
Lots of inspired jokes in this one. A gag involving Dustin Hoffman's likeness being portrayed by Al Pachino to avoid a lawsuit, the reveal that Alec Baldwin's Odd-Job-like assistant is secretly a robot, the gag about the mayor being stuck in a Mayor McCheese costume (and the police chief being Big Mac, delivering the memorable line "Nothing can kill the Grimace"), and the inside joke involving a photo of Leonardo Leonardo at Studio 54. This is apparently based on a real photo; the tall man is respected comedy writer Ian Maxtone-Graham who was a friend of Dave "Thanks for Watching!" Mandel. Dave ran across this photo in a book about Studio 54 of Ian Maxtone-Graham hanging out with Andy Warhol. I did a cursory google and I'm not sure if this photo is readily available online.
This one also ends with an educational segment where Jay & Silent Bob brutally wallop Charles Barkley for trying to host the segment himself. This whole thing is a shot-for-shot parody of a scene from The Godfather. There's also an eyebrow raising joke in this where the little girl seems to be discussing prostituting herself for 20 dollars. There was another gag like this in the last episode I didn't bother to highlight, where it's implied she wanted to film a porn movie with her little boy friend.
Askew connections: The pet store being named Gerbils Gerbils Gerbils is from Mallrats. The offscreen "kid in the helmet" would later appear in a deleted scene in Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back.

(JNS) When Rabbi Erez Sherman of Sinai Temple in Los Angeles spoke with National Basketball Association analyst Ernie Johnson of TNT for Sherman’s podcast “Rabbi on The Sidelines” back in February, he did not expect that Johnson would reciprocate the gesture in November.
Yet there Sherman was on November 1, appearing in a national broadcast with Johnson and NBA legend Charles Barkley on a national broadcast. Barkley said on air that the NBA “dropped the ball” by not suspending Brooklyn Nets point guard Kyrie Irving for linking an anti-Semitic movie on his Twitter page.
“The team or the league should have done something immediately,” Barkley said.
Asked by Johnson what he would say to Irving if they met, Sherman responded, “I would say, ‘Come into my synagogue, meet my children, learn about us as a community, teach our children what it means to be a human being in this great country of America and then good things can happen.’”
“Sports and faith intersect in a very deep way,” he added.
On several sports-related social media pages, many users claimed to agree with Irving.
Speaking to JNS by phone, Sherman said Barkley told him, “I’m worried about my own grandchildren and want to understand the intricacies of this from a rabbi.”
Barkley’s daughter is married to a Jewish man.
“In basketball, there’s out of bounds, and insulting faith is out of bounds,” Sherman, who has had NBA players train in his synagogue, told JNS.
Citing the teachings of the late British Chief Rabbi Jonathan Sacks, Sherman said faith can be the solution instead of being the problem.
Anti-Semitic material was dropped on Sherman’s driveway a few weeks before the broadcast was aired.
“To be honest, I’m scared right now,” he said.
Sherman attended a multi-faith gathering with California Attorney General Rob Bonta, who listened to concerns pertaining to anti-Semitism.
“I think the question is, does [Irving] know what he is saying, and it seems like he knows what he is saying, and he doesn’t care,” Sherman said. “That’s the scary part.”
Barkley asked Sherman if he should blame political leaders for anti-Semitism.
“I said what I love as a rabbi is that we don’t talk about [former Vice President Mike] Pence or [Speaker of the House Nancy] Pelosi, we talk about Moses and Joshua,” said Sherman
Sherman dismissed Irving’s claim that he was not promoting the anti-Semitic movie by posting a tweet did not constitute promotion. The film lists what it describes are falsehoods spread by Jews, including that Jesus was Jewish and that 6 million Jews were killed in the Holocaust. It also refers to Jews as satanic.
Despite the fear he has over anti-Semitism, it is time for action, dialogue and education on a large scale to raise awareness among athletes, celebrities and whoever is willing to learn, Sherman affirmed.

Panini is a well-known trading card company that produces a variety of sports cards, including football cards. Panini football cards are collectible cards featuring NFL players and teams. These cards often come in different sets and variations, including base cards, inserts, autographs, memorabilia cards, and various parallels.
The value of Panini football cards can fluctuate over time, primarily influenced by a player's performance, popularity, and collector demand. Here are a few of the football players who have the most valuable Panini cards:
Tom Brady: Tom Brady is arguably the greatest quarterback in NFL history, and his Panini cards hold immense value. His rookie cards from the 2000 season are particularly sought after, with the 2000 Playoff Contenders Rookie Ticket Autograph being one of the most valuable football cards in existence. Brady's successful career and seven Super Bowl victories have only increased the desirability of his cards.
Patrick Mahomes: Patrick Mahomes, the Kansas City Chiefs quarterback, has rapidly risen to stardom. His rookie cards, especially the 2017 Panini Prizm Silver Rookie Card, have seen significant value increases due to his MVP awards and Super Bowl win. Mahomes' unique playing style and potential for a long, successful career make his cards highly coveted.
Lamar Jackson: Lamar Jackson's dynamic playing style and rapid success as a quarterback have driven the value of his rookie cards, notably the 2018 Panini Prizm Silver Rookie Card. Jackson's MVP award and young age make his cards appealing to collectors and investors.
Josh Allen: Josh Allen, the Buffalo Bills quarterback, has shown tremendous improvement, making his rookie cards, like the 2018 Panini Prizm Silver Rookie Card, increasingly valuable. His strong arm and versatility on the field have drawn the attention of collectors.
Drew Brees: Drew Brees, a future Hall of Famer, is one of the most accomplished quarterbacks in NFL history. His rookie cards, particularly the 2001 SP Authentic Rookie Card, are highly sought after. Brees' Super Bowl victory and numerous passing records have solidified his card's value.
Saquon Barkley: Saquon Barkley, a running back for the New York Giants, made an immediate impact in the NFL. His 2018 Panini Prizm Silver Rookie Card is a favorite among collectors. Barkley's explosive playing style and potential for a long and successful career contribute to the desirability of his cards.
Deshaun Watson: Deshaun Watson, the Houston Texans quarterback, has consistently performed at a high level since entering the NFL. His 2017 Panini Prizm Silver Rookie Card has gained value, reflecting his achievements and potential. Watson's strong presence in the league adds to the appeal of his cards.
They are popular among sports enthusiasts and collectors who enjoy collecting and trading these cards. Panini's football card sets frequently feature rookie cards, which are highly coveted, as they showcase the first-year appearances of emerging NFL players.
In conclusion, These cards are typically released annually and come in different series and editions, each with its unique design and features. Panini also holds exclusive licensing agreements with various sports leagues, allowing them to use official team logos and branding in their card sets, which adds to their authenticity and appeal to collectors.

Who’s to blame for Giants’ miserable 1-5 start?
By: Benjarmin Munguia
Date: October 21, 2023
Tumblr media
A year ago. The New York Giants surprised the NFL by going 9-7-1, and making the playoffs with new head coach Dave Daboll who later would win AP Coach of the Year. They beat the Minnesota Viking 31-24 in the Wild Card Round of the playoffs, but were bounced by their divisional rivals the Philadelphia Eagles  38-7 in the Divisional round.
Things seemed to make a new turn for the gloomy franchise to get back their winning ways. Daniel Jones was granted a contract extension a four-year, $160 million. Details included $82 million fully guaranteed and an additional $35 million of incentives. This made him a top ten paid quarterback in the NFL. Barkley stuck around for another year, signing him to a one-year $11 million deal after an “intense” holdout over the offseason. Things seemed to go the Giants way.
Until the 2023 season.
The New York Giants, heading into week 7 are off to a miserable 1-5 start. Not scoring any points in the first six quarters of the season, 32nd scoring offense. Its been a mess.
A lot of the blame has been put on Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Nobody wants to see a player get a contract extension and go backwards in their career.
Jones, in 5 games, has thrown for 2 touchdowns and 6 interceptions. 2 of those touchdowns came from their win of the season against the Arizona Cardinals.
While Jones has been below subpar this season, does he deserve all the blame for the 1-5 start? There are other massive problems to address.
The O-Line
The offensive line has been a problem for the Giants over the past decade, but this is by far the worst season this franchise has ever seen. In 7 games they've allowed 33 sacks this season. 2nd most in the NFL behind their divisional rivals, the Washington Commanders (34.)
Jones missed the Week 7 matchup due to a neck injury. Playing the first 6 games, Jones has been sacked 28 times. That was the most for a quarterback up until that point this season. There's not much a quarterback can do when you are being sacked almost 6 times a game.
Defensive Line
Dead last in the NFL in sacks is the Giants, having only 5 sacks on the year. Defensive end Kayvon Thibodeaux has four of those sacks. They are currently on pace to have 10 sacks on the year, which is a big difference from a season ago when they had 41 sacks throughout the year. They had 13 sacks through the first six games a season ago.
The Giants are on pace to break their franchise record of least amount of sacks with 10 this season. That would beat their 1971 season of 18 sacks. That team went 4-10 in 1971.
Tumblr media
The Giants are 31st in rush defense, giving up 885 rushing yards this season. Only behind the Denver Broncos with 1034 rushing yards.
The Giants have allowed 100+ rushing yards every game this year, including 222 yards when they faced the Miami Dolphins where they lost 16-31.
It may look like the season could be over. There have been three teams who've reached the playoffs after a 1-5 start.
The 2018 Indianapolis Colts started 1-5 and finished 10-6 making to the divisional round where they lost to the Kansas City Chiefs 13-31.
2015 Kansas City Chiefs started 1-5 and finished 11-5, making it to the the divisional round where they were beaten by the New England Patriots 20-27.
The 1970 Cincinnati Bengals were also a team that started 1-5, then finished 8-6, but were defeated by the Indianapolis Colts 17-0.
If the Giants address these problems, could they have a shot at making the playoffs?? They only play 3 teams that have winning records. Dallas Cowboys, Los Angles Rams, and they play the Philadelphia Eagles twice.

A Giant Shopping Spree: Which Teams Should Plunder New York Before the Trade Deadline
We’re sorry Giants’ fans the party is officially over. What Brian Daboll accomplished in 2022 was nothing short of sensational, but as is often the case with incredible stories, the sequel simply doesn’t live up to its predecessor.
At 1-3 and dead last in a highly competitive NFC East along with a gauntlet of a schedule on the horizon, New York’s chances of making the playoffs went out the door with the Giants’ fans who left early in the 4th Quarter last Monday. We considered writing a follow-up to our previous rendition of “How Fucked are the Giants?” from a few years ago, but riding a nice buzz, we decided to focus on a more positive theme. Putting New York Football fans out of their misery for 2023! With this year’s campaign lost, it’s clearly time for the Giants to look to the future……and for competitive teams to raid their roster like Fantasy Waiver Wires!
Today we’ll highlight the best players on the Giants’ roster and which teams we think should rescue them. So grab your credit cards and leave your better judgement behind as we go on a Giant shopping spree!
Saquon Barkley
Let’s start with the most obvious. Saquon is far and away the Giants’ best player. And in a market in which no team (including the Giants) wants to pay Running Backs, it has to be beyond tantalizing for teams to pick up a rental with the pedigree of Saquon Barkley for a potential championship run. Just imagine if Hailee Steinfeld wanted to give you the night of your life, buy you breakfast the next morning, and wish you a nice life. Yeah, that’s what every GM in the league is picturing when imagining a Barkley acquisition.
So what teams should be in the mix for Barkley’s services?
Buffalo Bills:
Having just throttled the Dolphins, the Bills look every bit the Super Bowl contender Vegas penned them as last year. But what happened last year? They came screaming out the gate only to lose momentum and put entirely too much on their superhuman QB’s shoulders late in the year.
So what better way to avoid that same fate than with the injection of a dynamic rushing threat with legitimate pass catching ability a la Christian McCaffrey for the 49ers? Even when the coverage is too tight to throw downfield to Diggs, Davis, Knox, or Kincaid, with Barkley in tow, Defenses will have to account for more than just Allen gashing them underneath. Sure they have other backs, but with all due respect, none of them are Saquon Barkley.
Kansas City Chiefs:
Do the Chiefs need Barkley? Lol no not at all. They just won the Super Bowl after everyone wrote them off in light of the Tyreek Hill trade. But that being said, they lost their home opener largely due to not having a credible threat outside of Travis Kelce who wasn’t available.
Mahomes is used to making due with subpar Receivers so why not lean into it and be a run first team? Defenses having to deal with fresh legs from Barkley and Pacheco while worrying about whatever dark magic Mahomes is concocting that week would have them all doing ayahuasca by the end of the day to cope with the PTSD.
Baltimore Ravens:
Is there an Offense in the league more fitting for Saquon Barkley than the Baltimore Ravens? Having lost J.K. Dobbins for the year (again) and dealing with a rash of injuries (again), Barkley would immediately reignite Baltimore’s backfield. Seeing Lamar standing next to Saquon would make most defenses stroke out immediately while opening up the passing game even more for Baltimore’s new look receiving corps.
In an age where blockbuster trades are commonplace and teams are pushing their chips to the middle of the table, why not add one of the best Running Backs in the league to the league’s top ranked Red Zone Offense? While the league will hate it, OBJ and Ravens’ fans alike will be thrilled with the reunion.
Darren Waller
Elite options at Tight End are few and far between. And while Waller has struggled to stay healthy and make an impact in Big Blue (who hasn’t) he was a revelation for the Raiders and is a Red Zone nightmare.
But 4 weeks in, it’s very apparent that Waller is wasting away in the Big Apple while royally pissing off his Fantasy Football managers. So what teams would benefit from a big ass physical mother fucker when the field shrinks? Well frankly all of them, but these ones more than others.
Jacksonville Jaguars:
Trevor Lawrence was viewed as generational when he came out of college. And while the Urban Meyer saga is most definitely still the primary topic of his therapy sessions, his growth in his sophomore season led many to believe he was due for a breakout year especially with the addition of former 2nd Team All-Pro and Gambling Addict Calvin Ridley. Well a month into the 2023 season, Lawrence’s offense ranks 26th in Red Zone Efficiency.
While this isn’t all Lawrence’s fault and the offense as a whole is struggling to execute in key moments, adding a weapon like Darren Waller will give Defenses so much more to account for while pulling coverage away from the rest of his weapons. Plus, it’s evident Lawrence loves throwing to his Tight Ends with Evan Engram netting the second most targets on the team (29) so far this season. The Jags already resurrected one Giants’ Tight End, who’s to say that can’t do the same for Waller?
Kansas City Chiefs:
We know, we’re sick of seeing them too. But let’s be honest, two Tight End sets with Kelce and Waller would be devastating for opposing Defenses and who better to get the absolute most out of Waller than Mahomes and Andy Reid. The Chiefs are currently the definition of mid in the Red Zone (16th) and their pass catchers have had more dropped balls than a middle school locker room. Waller would force Defenses to focus on someone other than Kelce and open up even more fuckery for the league’s most diabolical duo.
Houston Texans:
That’s right, 4 weeks in, the 2023 Houston Texans are a team that should bolster its talent right now! CJ Stroud has been a revelation and is a breath of fresh air for the team that harbored, paid, and protected a rapist. Less than a quarter into his rookie season, Stroud is already throwing for over 300 yards/game, has yet to throw an interception, and is on pace to shatter Andrew Luck’s rookie passing record.
Whether that is sustainable or not remains to be seen, but the early returns could not be more encouraging for Houston and they should be all-in on helping accelerate this kid’s development. They’re also 31st in Red Zone efficiency yet sitting at 2-2 along with the rest of the AFC South. With a playoff berth in Head Coach Demeco Ryan’s first year well within reach, it seems criminal not to address one of their fundamental flaws and go on an inspired run to set the tone for the new regime.
New Orleans Saints:
Derek Carr was brought in to fix the Saints’ dog shit Offense. Well he currently holds a 45.2 QBR (24th in the league) and New Orleans is dead last in Red Zone Efficiency. But hey change can be hard sometimes and Carr was clearly playing hurt last weekend. So why not make the transition to the Big Easy, well….easy!
Waller played his best football with Carr as his Quarterback and adding a familiar face who understands Carr’s tendencies to an Offense already featuring Chris Olave, Michael Thomas, and their dipshit, yet dynamic Running Back, Alvin Kamara would certainly boost those Red Zone numbers. The NFC South is a three horse race and the Saints could use a little giddy up.
Think we missed someone? Feel free to throw out your suggestions in the comments of who else should get the fuck out of New York before their career dies!

As we go into another exiting weekend of football but first the recent updates in the NFL. Again this past weekend we saw another Taylor Swift appearance at the Kansas City Chiefs game. Every time drawing a bigger and bigger crowd. Some more new is this weekend we are likely to see the Matthew Stafford and Cooper Kupp duo back out on the field. After a 5 week long injury recovery for Kupp after damaging his hamstring. This past week we also saw the Miami Dolphins trade for the experienced Chase Claypool. Speaking of the Miami Dolphins in this weekends game vs the Giants we will not see the return of their star running back S. Barkley. Get back to it on Monday after we see how all of the college and NFL games play out.
