Chrobin Week 2019 Prompts

Welcome to Chrobin Week 2019!

The time has finally come! We had an amazing selection of prompts to choose from, and it was definitely a hard decision for us. 

This year’s Chrobinweek prompts are: 

July 15: Battle and War

July 16: Flowers

July 17: Longing/Pining

July 18: Modern AU

July 19: Memories

July 20: Head and Heart

July 21: Promise

Feel free to interpret the prompts however you like. (Examples: for Longing/Pining, give us your unrequited love and mutual sidelong glances... Bring the cruelties of kingdoms in conflict, the wounds, and the late-night planning sessions for Battle and War.)

How can you join? Post your fanfic/fanart/fanwhatever on Tumblr or Twitter for any number of prompts. Do one or two days, or try to collect them all! You can also submit to us, here. We will do our best to reblog every piece of Chrobin-y goodness we can find. To help us find your prompts, please tag #chrobinweek2019, and explicitly state on your post what day/prompt you’re posting for. (The search function on Tumblr isn’t the best, so adding the tags will greatly help us find your posts.) If you see we haven’t reblogged it within a few hours, please shoot us a message.

We will also be running Chrobinweek on Twitter, so feel free to join us there as well!

Head and Heart

Inspired by @citadelity‘s role swap AU, Feles Regem Aspiciat

Naga has returned to the world.  The result of a catastrophic Awakening, she has taken the throne of Ylisse in Chrom’s body, intent on showing mankind the error of their ways and guiding them down the proper path...and quelling all who dare oppose her.  With mere pockets of resistance scattered across the halidom and no one near the divine’s seat of power, Robin volunteers to become an inside agent, certain she’ll see Grima’s own vessel as too fine a prize to part with.  So begins a harrowing game of cat and mouse for the fate of mankind, not just in Ylisse but throughout the world...and for Chrom’s very soul, trapped out of reach but witness to Robin’s every attempt to reach him.

“You need to get out of the castle.”

“What?”

“What!?”

Naga’s shriek nearly drowned out the rest of his thoughts.  But he pressed on even still, staring at the tactician and the tired lines worn into a face that had always been smiling before this nightmare began.  “This is killing you.  Every day I see a little more of you die, and I ca...I can’t bear it.  I can’t bear to see you end up as a...as a shell, staying by my body when I’m out of reach.  So you need to go.  Now.  I’ll hold Naga back as long as I can, but you need to get as far from here as possible while you have the chance.”

“I won’t abandon you--”

“You have to!”  The sob shredded his voice, and gods all he wanted to do was hug Robin tight and not let go but he knew that there was no greater danger to the tactician in all the world.  “Please, Robin.  It’s killing me, watching you suffer and seeing you lose hope and...getting you out of here is going to save us both.”  Leaning his head against the tactician’s, Chrom mustered the best smile he could.  “You’re not abandoning me: knowing you’re safe and far from here...you’ll be keeping my hope alive.”

He wasn’t sure when he’d started crying.  But the tears came, even as cool hands wiped them gently away.  “Alright,” Robin whispered, his own voice choked.  “Alright.”  Pushing himself up from the bed...he paused, and Chrom felt his chest tighten with the sudden terror that he would change his mind, insist on staying, and he feared his heart would shatter when the tactician turned back to him wearing a broken smile. 

But he did not sit beside the prince again.  He only took Chrom’s face in his hands, pressing one final kiss to his lips -- and the prince leaned desperately into it, knowing that it would be his final comfort.  “I love you,” Robin breathed. 

How many times had he said those words to himself in the dead of night, struggling to imagine the tactician’s reaction?  How many times had they echoed through his mind as he searched for the courage to speak them aloud to the man ever at his right?  He’d never believed he would hear them from Robin -- but they warmed his aching heart, even as his sight blurred.  “I love you, too.”
