whumptober day 3 - blackmailed
Tumblr media
pairing: frenchie (the boys) x reader
words: 0.8k
a/n: oh my goodness, I am so nervous to be posting a frenchie story because I love his character so much I really want to make sure I got it right! now, I'm feeling pretty confident with this story, so I would LOVE to hear what you think! please enjoy and have a fabulous day!
oOoOo
It was a fairly straightforward plan. Frenchie would infiltrate Vaught Towers, locate the computers belonging to their damage control department, and download any and all incriminating evidence that could help take Vaught, Homelander, and the rest of The Seven down. Meanwhile, you and Hughie would wait in the getaway van, monitoring the situation from the ground.
At first, you had argued and pushed back. It was too dangerous for Frenchie to be going in alone. But he reasoned with you it was easier to disguise and sneak in one person, and that he would feel much better knowing you were out of harm's way.
“It will all be fine, ma cherie?” he promised. “I will feel much better if you stay with Petit Hughie in the van.”
And so, Frenchie found himself patrolling the building in a security uniform, arms crossed and eyes forward like he belonged among the rank of corrupted Vaught employees. He waited for an opportune moment to duck into the tech room and sync the files to his harddrive. Once the floor was clear, he slipped into the room and got to work.
His fingers flew across the keys, scanning through lines and lines of code looking for any hidden data. With each minute that passed, Frenchie felt his heart beating faster and faster, throwing a nervous glance over his shoulder every few moments for good measure. He let out a triumphant cry when he finally found the files and began to download them to his hard drive. His leg twitched in anticipation, wanting nothing more than to be done with the mission and back with you once more.
However, when Frenchie glanced up, he let out a gasp and jumped back when he saw Homelander standing in the shadows with his arms crossed and a bored, yet amused, expression drawn across his features. Whereas Frenchie’s heart had previously been beating quickly with adrenaline, the fear stopped his heart completely in that moment.
This had to be it, Frenchie thought to himself. There was no way he would survive this encounter with the strongest Supe in the world. His mind tried to compute all sorts of escape routes, but he came up blank with each passing minute.
“Now, now, Serge. Let’s be civil here.” Homelander said, slowly closing the distance between himself and Frenchie. “I’m not here to hurt you.”
“As if I would believe that.” Frenchie spat, pulling his pistol from the waistband of his pants, holding it tightly even if it was useless against Homelander.
Gone were the fake smiles and placating words he projected to the masses. Frenchie could tell that Homelander wasn’t fooling around anymore. “I’m tired of you and your little motley crew trying to sabotage us. I tried to make Butcher understand the severity of your involvement, but it looks like it didn’t take, so I’m going to try a new approach.” he explained, now inches away from Frenchie’s face.
“Here’s what is going to happen. You’re going to give me that hard drive, walk out of here. But that isn’t where this arrangement ends. I don’t trust that you will stop your investigation, so I want you to be a leak for me. Everything that Butcher, Hughie, or anyone else talks about gets reported back to me.”
“And why would I do that?” Frenchie shot back in a moment of bravery.
Homelander merely chuckled as if Frenchie had told him a mildly amusing joke. “Because if you don’t, then y/n down there,” he glanced towards the window. “is going to pay the price for your ineptitude.” he threatened, eyes flashing a pulsing red.
“W-why would I care?” Frenchie stammered out, trying and failing to hold in his emotions. Instantly, his heart was brought back to life at the thought of you in any sort of danger.
“Don’t play dumb, Serge. It’s not a good look for you.” Homelander chided. “You might think you and your crew are so sneaky, but I’ve seen how you act around y/n. The linger touches, the longing gazes. I know how much y/n means to your group, especially you. And I don’t think you want to test how serious I am.”
There was a deep silence between the two men as Frenchie simply stared at the Supe. He knew, deep down, that Homelander wasn’t bluffing, and either way Frenchie wasn’t willing to risk your life on a chance. Reluctantly, and with slightly shaking hands, he handed over the hard drive, flinching when Homelander crushed the device to dust with a simple fist.
“Glad you could see reason.” Homelander mocked, gesturing for Frenchie to walk out and leave, but added on before he could fully leave. “Oh, and if you mention any word of this conversation to your group, the press, or anyone else I will know, and y/n will pay the price.”
Frenchie left the room, his spine pin straight and nerves shot. He walked out of Vaught Tower, shame running through him. Could he really go through with this betrayal of the group? But, at the same time, could he ever put your life in danger? Even if the two of you weren’t officially an item, he would never risk your safety - even if it meant being a slimy rat for Homelander.

Henchman's homework 😐📝🐕
Based on this prompt by: @heroes-villains-side-blog TW: none!
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
“Supervillain ate my homework…” Henchman said flatly. They felt so stupid hearing their own words, but what else were they going to do? lie?
Professor looked up from their several piles of paperwork with a raised eyebrow. ‘Why am I doing this?’ Henchman thought. ‘Clearly Professor did not believe that, because why would they!’
“Is Supervillain your dog's name…? Or…?” Professor asked, confused.
Henchman twisted uncomfortably on the spot, their face were not really showing any clear emotions, before mumbling a small “no… ”
Professor just looked at them stunned for a while. The excuse was one thing, but the fact that the excuse was coming from Henchman of all people. That's another level. “So you are really trying to tell me that Supervillain, THE SUPERVILLAIN ate your homework?”
Henchman bit their lip, not meeting Professors eyes as they nodded. Internally they began to curse themself. ‘How am I even going to explain this without outing myself as a villain? Can’t just go all. ‘Yeah, Scientist had an experiment gone wrong making all this mess!’ This was such a dumb idea, I should have just taken the fail grade instead!’
“I… Henchman, you cannot possibly think that I can believe that?” Professor said, while trying their best not to sound too harsh on them. “Firstly, how did Supervillain even eat your homework? Or for a better question, why would Supervillain eat your homework?”
A small silence fell in-between the two as Henchman froze trying to form a single sentence. Finally there was a small nervous sound as Henchman asked them “He… he turned into a dog?”
“What?”
“A Big Dog! Giant even! Might have been one of Scientist's experiments that went badly wrong, turning Supervillain into it… or something like that… I don’t know….” Henchman added even more nerves as the professor's confused look began to stress them out. ‘Oh god this is not going to end well…’
“Ok, that is certainly an interesting story, but how did that end up with your homework being eaten?”
At those words all the color drained from Henchman’s face as they tried to find the least suspicious words they could. “Well, I… um… my home was caught in the crossfire,” they said. “I had just come home from printing my homework at the library.” Which was technically true, as they lived at Supervillain’s lair. But the library was really just the office room.
“When Supervillain just burst through the door and ate it! Before they left, running off to cause mayhem somewhere else… It was on the news!” They said before adding, “not them eating my homework! But Supervillain, as a dog, was on the news… so you might have seen it.”
“Do I look like someone that has time to watch the news recently?” Professor said as they were getting frustrated at this outlandish story.
Henchman's eyes glanced away for a second, onto the professor's desk that was filled with coffee cups and exam papers. “I guess not… hang on a moment.” Henchman said, before they dragged out their phone typing away. “Here it is,” they said, handing the phone over to Professor.
The photo cover of the article showed what looked to be a giant dog, it was towering over the hero that it was mid fighting, or playing? The dog was covered in a ripped up supersuit with but the outline and color did seem to match Supervillain’s logo on it.
There was an inaudible noise as Professor looked further into the article. “Well, that is certainly something…” they said, trying to get back on track. “HANG ON!” they suddenly yelled. “If you were printing the homework, then why didn’t you just print a new one?”
“Oh… yeah… that” Henchman said as they opened their mail styled bag bringing out what seemed to be some form of electronic junk. “Supervillain also ate my laptop. Sadly the part they ate had the harddrive on it and I had not made a backup…”
Professor stared at the laptop in disbelief for what felt like ages. The laptop that had very clear, and very giant teeth marks outlining a missing chunk. Snapping back into the present there was a small  “Um, Henchman?”
“Yes, professor?”
“Why did you not start with showing me that?” they asked, trying to fold back the flood gate of questions.
“I... I did not think about that…”

Over the last week I've been back in my hometown of Hamilton staying at my parents' house and sleeping in my old bedroom. I had that optometrist appointment earlier in the week, it's Easter on Sunday, and I need to order my prescription at the pharmacy here on Monday anyway. So, an extended visit was an obvious choice. It's been nice. This afternoon I did a little dig through my closet after my mom mentioned that she would like to clear out anything in there which I wasn't keen on keeping. So I took a look, and while there was definitely stuff in there I am fine getting rid of, and in many cases can't remember why I hung onto it for as long as I did, there was also a bunch of neat old stuff in there.
Everything in that closet is thrown into a few banker's boxes, I wasn't quite sure what was in each of them. The first box I dove into turned out to contain all of my university coursework, all five years of it, and much of it disorganized and in disarray. I must have just thrown things in there, because there were loose sheets of translation work interleaved out of order, folders stuffed to breaking with photocopied journal articles and book chapters from different courses, syllabi and unrelated essays in messy piles, and various notebooks, loose notes and revisions. Organizing it all is not a task I'm up doing any time soon, and part of me doubts that I'll ever get it done, it's hardly important anymore. Surveying it all made me think on what a shame it is that I never have any occasion or reason to write things out by hand. I miss using my fountain pens, and my cursive was really quite nice.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I also found my official transcript, of which I have seven copies for reasons that have been lost to time. Presumably I ordered more copies because of grad school applications, but I can't remember.
Tumblr media
I guess I did pretty well. And even though grades don't matter at all after you graduate, I did have to do a double take and think back for a minute trying to remember how the hell I managed to bomb Beginner's Ancient Greek II winding up with a C after getting an A in Beginner's Ancient Greek I (and then back to getting As after that). The memory did eventually resurface; I had deferred the exam on account of illness, but when it came time to write the exam in the summer, I wound up running a fever anyway, and on top of that, I was writing it a little over a week after my girlfriend had broken up with me. To be entirely honest, that summer and back half of the year is something of a blur. Welp, oh well.
Oh and hey, in one of those messy piles I found the paper for which I won a departmental essay contest and then third place in the national CAC undergraduate essay writing contest.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The professor's comments were far too kind. It's an okay paper for an undergraduate, I'd change a lot of things looking back at it now. I wonder what Dr. Corner is up to these days and if he finally finished his book. We had lunch together when I first moved to Toronto but that was years ago now. He was the professor I was closest to, a real mentor.
Buried behind the coursework box was another banker's box containing something entirely unrelated but very cool, these:
Tumblr media
It's my old iPods! The 30GB iPod Video is completely dead, but the 160GB iPod Classic booted after I found a cable and gave it a quick charge. The headphone jack is busted, if I recall correctly, I had already paid to get it fixed once, and then it died a few months later. By that point I was fed up with having it fixed, and replaced it with an iBasso DX80. The electronics in it are still functioning fine; I might give a go at modding it into something I could put to use. Modding iPod classics is a whole scene these days and you can buy custom DIY replacement parts like microSD card readers to replace the harddrive, and there's custom firmware that allows the iPod to support higher capacity storage. Modding it shouldn't be too difficult and wouldn't even require much soldering. I'd replace the headphone jack, pull the 160GB HDD and replace it with a dual or quad microSD card reader and cram as many 512GB/1TB microSD cards it can take, and replace the battery with a higher capacity one. I stream my music collection from my media server to my phone via PlexAmp these days, but it would be cool to have an offline option, or something I can just leave permanently plugged into the Aux port of my stereo. My dad says he's got a 120GB model that half works floating around too, maybe I'll mod both of them.
There were a few other neat things in that second box like playbills from when I used to attend the opera. Which is yet another thing I used to be able to do and now miss terribly. That double feature of Bluebeard and Erwartung was phenomenal.
Tumblr media
There was also a copy from one of the godawful and glossy annual "All About Sex" supplements the University newspaper published. I won't share pictures of that because there are a lot of half-naked semi acquaintances in there, but be assured, it's godawful.
In a third box I found approximately half of my physical PC game collection:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Check out that copy of X-Wing on 3.5" floppies and the sticker advising Windows and Pentium users that this is a DOS game. That's the very first PC game I ever got as a kid, received it as a present for Christmas '95. What you see there is less than half of what I know for a fact that I own on CD-ROM. Just off the top of my head I know I have physical copies of Half-Life, Red Alert 2, Tiberian Sun, Dune 2000, Emperor: Battle for Dune, Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri, Sid Meier's Civilization, Total Annihilation, Unreal Tournament, Star Wars Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight, Mechwarrior 4, Star Trek: Bridge Commander, Doom 3, Medal of Honor: Allied Assault, Thief 2: the Metal Age, Deus Ex and most of those games' attendant expansion packs. I didn't find any of them while clearing out the closet, which means that they're almost definitely up in the attic above the garage, along with the sci-fi and fantasy novels I had from adolescence which I didn't take with me when I moved. Getting up into that attic is a pain in the ass though, and it's cramped and stuffy once you're up there. Maybe next time I visit my parents I can put aside a day to go up there and locate everything. I'd really have to be feeling up to it though. I'm pretty sure my hardback copy of Good Omens is up there, as is my copy of Neuromancer, and the Black Company omnibuses. None of which I've read in years.
The only other things of note were a bunch of pewter figurines of wizards I had for unknown reasons and a few nice and largely unused (with the exception of a few pages that I must have torn out years ago) notebooks that I can put to good use.
Tumblr media
Actually, I just figured out the reason I owned these and hung onto them. It's because they're rad as hell. Wizards rule.

been spending a lot of time reorganizing my life in every way i can possibly think of... recently my father got me a 2tb harddrive, and i have been moving 90% of my digital presence off of the internet and onto this harddrive. it has been,, cathartic
this does mean, however, that i have been given the opportunity to take ALL of the images i have OFF of my phone, and onto this harddrive. it will be nice to have a fresh slate for my phone images..... but it will likely be that i entirely clear out my phone, and from now on the only images i will have will be of ........ characters

future Torg
Tumblr media
ok so this comic has been kicking around in my misc. folder for literal decades. I first found it on a vore forum and I kept it because I always thought it was funny, but I was never motivated to find out where it came from. Today I was cleaning out some old harddrive folders and saw this again, and for some reason I was compelled to return to the original forum (it still exists! holy crap) for some clue as to its provenance.
Well, I found it. It's a page from Transmetropolitan, Issue 38. A quick riffle through the scanned online copy tells me that this page has fuckall to do with the rest of the comic, a satirical cyberpunk story from the POV of Speshul Edgelord OC #9000, just like every other early 2000s comic ever made (can you tell I'm not a comic book fan, like at all, also I was a young teen during this time in history so I had to live through this goofy media trend and I'm not happy about it).
ANYWAAAAYYY the reason I'm sharing it is because, rather hilariously, this is almost the exact dynamic in just about every one of my Torg stories. Torg is hungry and sad, Torg finds a friend who understands him, they proceed to devour the city. Although in practice he's the one doing all the devouring while his friend runs interference, is usually how that goes.
Cyberpunk!Torg would be especially hilarious, now that I think about it. He would be the small thing scuttling in the shadowy lower levels of the city, evading robocops and devouring his fellow homeless people, no doubt--but he's sorry about it, honest! 🥺
I'm going to try to draw Torg now, just because his facial expressions are rather clear in my mind and I always wanted to try and draw him properly. I may or may not be successful. By rights, Torg in any universe should be a horrible foul creature but I can't help making him sympathetic and CUTE for some reason. :3

Password hints are useful yall
I was attempting to clear this old 1TB harddrive to make space for more pirated TV shows. But apparently 20 attempts isnt enough to remember an 8 year old computer password (or I changed it recently?)
Luckily I'm a certified ameteur hackerperson now thanks to that being a very loose term in my books:
Tumblr media
I just fucked with the startup BIOS menu until it let me boot from my arch USB thingy. Now I can make sure Ive backed up any useful data, then do my thing which I havent entirely figured out yet to make this into a backup harddrive
Forgive me computer folks I say a lot of wrong/partly right things for fun mostly.

lil tutorial on how i make bigass gifsets with multiple smaller gifs
what i'm talking about, ex this gifset of dean in each episode
For the lovely @klinejack I hope you find this helpful 💞💋
Back then I made that gifset using groups and masks but other sets afterwards I've been using shapes and clippings masks. Also in my gifmaking process I use the timeline and smart objects.
I'll put the rest under a read more since i'm gonna put in a few pics so this doesn't get too long.
I'm not gonna get in details about sharpening/coloring etc as everyone has their own process!!
I start with loading the frames I previously extracted from File > Scripts > Load Files into Stack... > select the folder where the frames are located > click OK:
Tumblr media
2. Next up I use my own Action to load the frames into a Smart Object:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
3. Then I copy the Smart Object layer into my layout, bellow is the 5x5 template & then position the Smart Object layer above of the shape where you want it located:
Tumblr media
4. Resize the Smart Object to fit as wanted over the respective shape and then go to create a Clip Mask
Tumblr media Tumblr media
5. I enabled the pink layer bellow so that you can see that it fits exactly over the shape
6. Load all the gifs into the layout one after the other - do NOT apply any sharpening or other filtering until the end
7. Make sure beforehand that you got the same number of frames for each gif - this will simplify the process as you don't need to scroll along the timeline to see where you want it to start end. Also the less resources (RAM) Photoshop uses the better
8. If psd file size goes over2GB while saving, you cannot save it as PSD but will need to select PSB from the drop down:
Tumblr media
9. When I was making the Dean set linked above each PSB file (size was around 4GB for each 5x5) would use up around 90GB of RAM by the time the last gif is in place - so make sure you have enough space on the harddrive that Photoshop uses. If you run out of space you won't even be able to save the file. You can try then to clear some of the PS cache (Edit > Purge > select each). Try to save it and close Photoshop, then reopen it and you will have more space again.
10. Best to prepare your coloring in a separate file beforehand and at the end just paste it on top.
11. Just before saving it, add your sharpening (easier to have an action for this with a keyboard shortcut) to each Smart Object.
Okay i hope this made sense lol if there are questions let me know!!
I'm going to add a link to a gdrive folder with some templates I have made (the 4x4 & 4x5 are form this spn women set and the 5x5 I made just now): click here.
EDIT (25.11.2022): added some more templates!!
Yeah except coloring this is pretty much my gif making process for large sets sdfegrvfs is this the best? Idk but i've gotten used to it lol

congrats on making a public inquiry on a line of interest situated in the middle of a venn diagram of like four things i've been thinking about a lot lately, your prize is this ask that is so long that in the time spent writing it and checking info someone less annoying may have directed you to some of it! this is all like easy enough to google but just in case it feels less uuhh to have someone with an approximate knowledge on some things offer you some pointers: here are some pointers
(i AM ALSO a thousands of CD's type of guy, but i've not done any big digital management of them since the last time i was regularly using ipods in the 2000s, n i am kinda Prepping for big digital management around my current standing main hyperfixation (participants of a season of an old korean idol reality competition show, a collection of Too Many Gotdamn People who have made Too Much Gotdamn Music) but i don't actually currently own a lot of the physical media there, so none of this are pointer from like. oh here is a workflow i am using etc, but)
answers to your two questions are 1) file sizes really depend on lots of factors but rule of thumb is that in a collection of 'normal song' mp3 file size averages out to 5-7MB a song, and a 3-4min mp3 file being >10MB is surprising
and 2) re: storage prices, 1TB (~1,000,000MB, so probably ~166,666MB 3min mp3's) in external harddrive will run at about £50 in western digital brands atm (western digital is what i've been occasionally looking at for my data management thing bc i've seen it mentioned specifically as more reliable than seagate, which i have had issues with; anecdotally, my mum's WD elements has lasted her about a year longer than her seagates kick the bucket). prices atm on curry's stack up at £80 for 2TB, £108 for 4TB, £180 for 8TB
refurbished is an option when it's 'rectified' and sold by the company itself; for WD, those prices atm stack up at £30 for 1TB, £35 for 2TB, £55-60 for 4TB (their page for these are https://www.westerndigital.com/en-gb/products/recertified) (i do not know enough about this area and would wanna look up specific reviews on a company's rectifying track record before purchasing myself, so obv do the same)
answers to questions you DID NOT ask but may have later on if you do set out on the CD Digitization Project that i have answered preemptively bc i am ANNOYING:
tagging music with correct info is often the most time-consuming part of this shit, so a tagger is your friend. the musicbrainz database should have a lot of stuff covered, so their tagger picard might well do (https://picard.musicbrainz.org/, also has some good plugins for like formating multi-disc albums etc if you wanna scan through those), but tagscanner (https://www.xdlab.ru/en/index.htm) can also pull from discogs if needed, though you may still need a discogs account + to make an api key do use that
i was like. spike will probably appreciate it if i provided ways in which their dad could still be autistic about music in a digital format, but i'm having a hard time pulling up music players that meet my vision / make it clear if they do re: you can see cd booklet, and also this info seems to not typically be in databases. i'll carry on looking for players in this area bc i ALSO want this, but suggested desktop windows players other than windows media player / grooveshark / vlc (which are all fine, but imo none are the most intuitive for regular heavy listening) are my best friend foobar2000 (https://www.foobar2000.org/, also has a tagger that pulls from musicbrainz and maybe discogs?), musicbee (https://getmusicbee.com/, tagger plugins available), and aimp (https://www.aimp.ru/); deadbeef (https://deadbeef.sourceforge.io/) is created more to get your hands into with the technical stuff, but it's got custom metadata fields. really after you've looked to see if you think your dad would want a particular feature, unless space is a major consideration then it is just well what looks nicest.
file backup! backblaze (https://www.backblaze.com/) allows an external hard drive to be added in an image backup of a machine, which is the only good way to do a (pseudo-)sync backup without paying for cloud subscription or setting up a NAS etc; at $70/year it is obviously A Cost but way less than premium cloud drive subscription, so if it feels useful to know,
if the NAS mention / video at the end of that post wrt turning an old computer or laptop into a media server (so thing that is plugged into a wall that has files on it + a media player --> other computers / phones / etc on the same network (which can be outside the home too) can connect to that player and files) was interesting lmk bc i've also been looking into that a lot mostly as like, storage nerd aspirations, it's just a whole other thing that's irrelevant if you're more interested in just bunging stuff on an external drive (i've send this as an ask with the intent for you to keep it On File, so sent me another or a dm to lmk!)
you are not at ALL annoying you are a godsend!!!!
the thing abt my father is he is actually better at tech stuff than me (he ran his school's website & also michael's website, in the 00s, when that meant he built them from scratch) (he's still a little bitter abt his school outsourcing their website to whatever service every school uses nowadays. he used to add little falling snowflakes in the winter n april fools jokes n such), so yes i was very much anticipating saying to him like. find a backup storage method you like and i will do the legwork of actually ripping n sorting everything
i did NOT know taggers even existed but holy shit yes i will definitely need one. i do not anticipate him ever actually getting rid of his physical copies – smth he has already done is buy a ton of plastic wallets n move the CDs & booklets into them so instead of ur standard plastic jewel case taking up all that space it's effectively as thin as the actual CD – & also he no longer has a computer (i do not get this decision either. he just uses his phone????) so i doubt he'll need music player software. my thought is really 'he needs backups spare CDs and a CD writer so if any die they can be replaced'
however i will definitely look into the music player software, and maybe also forward this info to my brother (if it's even news to him, he's the kind of music autistic who has a £200 pair of headphones). thank you SO much <3
edit: just saw ur second ask n shdgdhd yeah i am gonna bookmark this post, my askbox is a pit things vanish into forever

TANNER’S PROGRESS REPORT: APRIL 18TH & 19TH 2023 (TUE & WED)
You may have (but probably didn't) notice the lack of a Progress Report yesterday, and the reason for that was because my two factor auth was fucked up and I couldn't physically log back into my Tumblr account on desktop after clearing my cache in an attempt to fix the fucking website, which, I should mention, is now fucked up again. It seems to be going back and forth periodically between functioning correctly and redirecting to the mobile site, so I'm hoping that @staff are just fucking around with something and we'll be back to normal relatively soon.
Anyway.
Yesterday and today have both been working on written WIPs, and specifically on one written WIP in particular that I am really, really hoping I can finish tomorrow. There is virtually nothing left to write in it and by all rights I should be able to get it squared away before the weekend, which would be the ideal scenario, and while I barely wrote more than nothing yesterday, I made excellent progress on it today, so it averages out well enough. I just need tomorrow to be a decent day and then I can wrap it up and send it off to its commissioner. 💜
However, in less-good news, I attempted to crack open Farewenden for the first time since the harddrive failure earlier today and found that my saved Scrivener project file was fucked for some reason. The folders and files are all intact and where I left them, but the actual written content of those files is conspicuously absent and it's looking at least somewhat likely that two years' worth of work might have gone down the toilet. :') Obviously with my memory being what it is, I won't be able to simply rewrite it, so I really don't know what I'll do, or what I'll be able to do, if Scrivener support can't help me with this.
We'll find out over the next few days whether I'm still writing a book, I suppose. Oh well. v( ._.)v
Goodnight, internet.

He doesn’t bother knocking when he enters the office. An untrained eye would miss out on Celeste getting caught off-guard with the door suddenly sliding open, the bright light of the hallway casting a long shadow that reached all the way to Celeste’s desk.
His lips curl, annoyed by the other’s lack of manners. Celeste could raise his complaints but he soon realizes Blaze is merely returning favour. The two have been at this for days now, playing this petty game of getting under each other’s armor.
Celeste won’t admit it out-loud that he probably deserves an unannounced arrival after doing the same to Blaze several times.
“You and me,” Blaze strides towards the desk, “we’ve got to through your grand scheme again.”
Celeste nods, internally curses the lighting that makes the other’s feature appear far more taller and menacing. He gestures towards the lounge area, illuminated by a fireplace.
Just like last time, Blaze sits at the edge of the seat, legs spread out and elbows on his knee, adopting a far more domineering posture. Celeste more or less copies him, his digits interlocking.
“Is there something you do not understand about what your role is? What the original plan has been all along?” Celeste’s optic ridge arches, lips forming a thin line.
“I think I understand everything I need to know about my purpose here. What I think is your lack of understanding: the thing you are trying to achieve is beyond the limitations of my outlier powers.” Blaze talks with his servos. The more invested in the topic he is, the more he gestures. “Plain and simply, I cannot create sparks. I cannot create life. Have you seen the billion mile long CNA has? Try to memorize a single line of that code and I’ll bet hundred Shanix you can’t.”
“External harddrive. Harddisk. We can supply all the data through an external source. Not a problem.” Celeste huffs.
“You— No. Creating the shell of the spark is no-biggie. Creating new life, or at least creating copies of pre-existing mechas? I cannot even begin how ludicrous of an idea that is! I am not an All-Spark, I’m just a guy. How did you even come up with the conclusion it’s possible? Have you not looked into other ways of growing a native population?”
Only a very few people have the nerve to talk to Celeste like this. He’ll let it slide, just barely. He clears the voicebox. “Spark-splitting is only so viable when you have empty pre-constructed frames. It works for mass-producing large numbers of population but we face the problem of creating a population entirely made up of cold-constructed mechs. Unlike other colonies, we simply lack the means of forging naturally on these planets.”
“What about merging two split sparks? If you are so involved in this project, there’s no way you haven’t heard of the successes of creating new generations that do behave like forged mechs.”
“It’s not cost-effective.”
“You are sitting on a couch worth three million Shanix.” Blaze practically spits out these words.
Celeste blinks, flustered. He forgot Blaze has an eye for determining value thanks to his merchant background. It doesn’t help Blaze correctly guessed the price. “It is... Still an option should your service does produce unsatisfactory results. We can always enlist your powers for a different role.”
“What about Ether-2′s naturally occuring cybertronium?”
“You can create empty bodies out of it. We are missing a few key components that would kickstart a natural production of forged sparks. The presence of Matrix could help now that I think about it...”
Their optics would lock for a second too long, both aware what it means.
“Perhaps creating the Matrix might be less demanding for you...” Celeste ponders.
“That too is simply an impossible task.” Blaze stands up, turning to leave. “You are truly an insane mech.”
Celeste’s gaze lingers on the ‘copter until he is no longer in the room, no longer in sight.
“Hm. See you tomorrow...” Celeste mutters to nobody but himself.

the amount of people who are very outspokenly homophobic and transphobic with things they say, and simultaneously try to mask it and even use lgbt labels as an excuse to try to hide it…and sorry but the clear amount of them who are in an obvious “lgbt until graduation” stage while doing all of the above. is just depressing tbh. like people will openly come out and mock visibly gay or trans mannerisms, behaviors, appearances, or life experiences while trying to use their chosen label as a fucking shield.
and it’s so obvious that many of these same people will be fully in a cis/hetero marriage one day, and eventually, their kids will pull the old embarrassing pictures of them wearing full instagram-note-begging dressup-costumes, out of the shoebox in the basement (or more like out of the family computer harddrive), like, “omg mom/dad is this you??” and they’ll cringe and go “yeah that was during my silly old college SJW phase, haha oh man that’s old!”
