i saw ur tags in the clown code post and if its real, i have to ask. how does one become a clown? are there courses for it?? is clown college real?? i want to be a clown. so bad. can it be a side gig????

Ok I’ll tackle these questions one by one.

1: it’s my belief that anyone can be a clown, all it takes is makeup and a fun attitude

2: yes, there are courses for it! I signed up for a clown group and we had a two day class where we learned all about clowning and the dos and donts!

3: clown college is real! It’s not a traditional college, but it’s real! there are courses you can take to get yourself registered and qualified as a professional clown!

If you register as a clown at the Clowns International website, you can even get your clown look painted on an egg, although membership is like $60 so do with that knowledge what you will.

4: yes it can absolutely be a side gig! I did some volunteer work on top of my original volunteer work with the clown troupe at a community center. It was really fun, but I bet you could find payed gigs too!

I think the world would be better if there were more clowns.

Because of the new @strange-aeons video, I've seen a lot of newbies to the clown husbandry scene, and while I'm personally thrilled about the light shed on our small but very important community, I've got a few important reminders to all interested/new clown keepers!

Clowns are living creatures!

To the seasoned keeper, this may seem an incredibly simple minded first point- but I've seen time and time again, a clown being adopted because they're cute, and promptly being abandoned due to the new keeper not having realized they were getting into.

Clowns are living, breathing creatures that can become trusted and wonderful companions- if you are capable of giving them the care that they require and frankly deserve. A mistreated clown will not take kindly to their handler. That being said..

Clown breeds require different care!!

From loud, fun loving entertainers like the party clown to the quiet, reserved hijinks of the mime, clown breeds vary as much as any other pet you may have had. Before adopting a clown, ensure that you have what you need to take care of them! This involves room for troupemates if they're a social species, animals for a rodeo clown, ect ect ect. This also involves appropriate habitation. Don't keep your jester in a haunted house!!

Chucklets are NOT for beginners!!

This is probably the MOST important point of this post- If you're a beginner clown owner, do NOT adopt a chucklet!! I know the appeal might be hard to resist, but chucklets are oftentimes naturally quite violent! I know a guy who lost a finger to a birthday cross chucklet, one of the most gentle breeds out there. Chucklets are volatile until their adult markings grow in, and remain volatile if not properly trained and cared for. Clowns will remember the faces of humans they don't like, even if they don't remember why they don't like that human. Remember, Clowns can be rather simple. You put yourself AND the chucklet in danger if you aren't properly equipped to care for them!

my all-time favorite False Childhood Memory is the time Mister Rogers guest-starred for an episode of The Magic School Bus. I can find no record of this actually happening but I remember it vividly and by gosh mcgolly wouldn't that have been the niftiest beans

Clown and Parrot being relatively light because they're birds..... Parrot's cloak is kinda heavy though to keep him grounded + he wears pretty heavy jewelry. Clown keeps himself light so he's quieter. However this means you can pick him up and launch him at mach speeds

I have come to teach you and all your followers my simple way of doing a magic circle, since every popular style I’ve seen is unnecessary complicated.

First start with your string

Then you cross it

Then pull the string on the top through the part on the bottom

Now you have a slip knot. And know we’re going to crochet around the slip knot and the tail.

You’re going to insert your hook into the loop of your untightened slip knot, yarn over, pull through, and then pull through the two loops on your hook to do a single crochet (or double crochet if you’re using uk terms)

And bam! You have a magic circle!

Continue crocheting around the slip knot and tail, when you’re ready to tighten it, just pull the yarn tail!

Hope this helps you all, in case you want to do a magic circle for the possum patterns instead of the chain two method :3

hello everyone!!! my name is dishka, and im an PTP fan since 2019! recently, i did an OC and thinked alot, looking at ptp characters to make it more canon-like. soooo i wanna share what i noticed in characters designs that may be useful for making OC's! lets start

APPEARANCE: based on colors, mostly.

okay, let's take a look at PTP characters:

so, when you first looking at those characters, you can mainly notice the colors, maybe. its like 3-4 main colors(not taking shades of one color as different. also im not sure if white counts!). there is ALWAYS some print on outfit(stripes on popee's jumpsuit, stars on kedamono's shorts) or its just double-colored(papi's jumpsuit). i guess i should say there's something like a main theme in character. even if im not sure about "animal" theme(because kedamono is just a straight up wolf and popee is still a human just in animal outfit), theres space theme in papi and marifa(who wasnt in the show but i still count her!!)

i also may say that her colors is limited too, so this works with all characters, yeah. ALSO i noticed that everyone has something on their head(mask/hat), so i guess that's important too, even if maybe not necessary. to quickly show how I did it, i'll just leave my oc here:

so, basically, theres limited colors, a theme, i also added this neck thingy to match circus better... and i did it kinda close to ptp author's artstyle bc i wanted to.

PERSONALITY/STORY: short af

so umm theres not alot to say about how to be with a personality but there's always like maybe 2-3 traits in character, like they are very simple, nothing too complicated. ofc you can do it as you want, but if you wanna make your oc as close to canon as possible i recommend not overdoing their personality & story. just think of like... how are they acting near canon characters maybe?? what would they do in different situations?? where they came from, why are they in the circus?? and something basic like that.

dear clown husbandry tumblr, I’m looking into adopting my first clown. I went to the clown shelter last week. Because I know space is important, I was originally looking for a pygmy clown, but there is a little guy there that stole my heart. He’s a smallish Tramp-mixed mutt, mostly brown and grey but with a lovely mix of patterns and a few pops of colour. I’ve heard that tramps bond fairly quickly, is this true? I thought if any clown would feel at home in a rural basement suite, it would be a small tramp-mix (he would have yard space and I am aware that clowns with less space need more frequent walks)

if he wouldn’t do well in my home, I’ll of course leave him for a more suitable home. I’d just love advice from those experienced in clownery!
