REMEMBERING HARRY - “HARRY CHRISTMAS” I was only able to spend 6 years connected to Harry — this Crown Prince of Good Cheer, — before his sudden passing last year. (Fittingly, in Judeo-Christian traditions, the number 6 represents manhood & humanity.) Our bond formed almost immediately and was quickly steeled by conversations of purpose, dreams and goals. In that too-short time I was a recipient of many of Harry’ timeless gifts: laughter, inspiration, out-of-the-blue acts of kindness, and most impacting, the fulfillment of watching a young man find, embrace and pursue his purpose with unadulterated joy and steadily-building success. He was a true gift-giver … and continues to be even after his death. I’m fully aware that by sharing Harry’s work & creating new works on the 11th of each month I’m engaging in a kind of myth-building. It felt right to merge Harry’s image with the historic Coca-Cola advertising art from the 30’s that gave us our most recognizable Santa Claus Imagery. This series of portraits is widely considered the art that gave us our most recognizable Santa Claus imagery. Like the historic third-century Saint Nicholas of the ancient Greek city of Myra, many of humanity’s greatest low-key gift-givers have been mythologized. Our brother Harry sits easily and comfortably among their ranks. For Ashlee
Today would hopefully be one of the best days of your life. Matt was back from touring with All Time Low, he always told you stories of it afterwards. How they were 'cocky' and 'rude' but hilarious at the same time. How he had to round them up like sheep because Jack and Alex were usually together, but Rian and Zack were somewhere completely different.
He always said it was hard being a tour manager, but you knew for a fact he enjoyed it more than he let on.
You looked at yourself in the mirror, did you look pretty? You always did, you were fine. Your hair was mid-length, a little longer than your shoulders, it was blonde and curly at the bottoms. You had been blessed with grey/blue eyes that sparkled whenever you were happy. Your eyelashes were long, you were gorgeous, you had always been told by Matt that you were his 'beautiful princess'. But you wanted to make a special effort today, because you were going to Disneyland with him as a surprise.
You went to shower, taking the time to think and plan what you were going to do. You were meeting him at the airport, and then driving him home, all the other boys were making their own way with their respective girlfriends, and for some of them wives and families. Then you would drive home, letting him throw his suitcases in the house, and tell him to pack. He'd think you wanted to kick him out or something, but that wasn't the case at all, you were going on an overnight train to Paris to have fun in Disneyland.
Once you got out of the shower, you packed your suitcase. You put in tank tops and shorts with tights. It was summer and it was hot. You hoped it would be hot in Paris too, but it might not be, you were worried you'd pack the wrong things for the weather, but decided if it was cold you could always go to the Disney shop and buy hoodies and jumpers there.
You put on a pair of blue denim high waisted shorts and a short sleeved top with a picture of Mini-Mouse on it, Matt would love it. You dried your hair and straightened it, making it look glossy and shiny in the process. You applied your make up, a small amount of foundation to even out your skin tone and some mascara, careful not to overdo it though.
You were finally ready, Matt's flight would come in 2 hours, it took about an hour and a half to get to the airport itself so you rushed into the car remembering your house keys. You left your suitcase at home because you were coming back for a couple of hours so Matt could rest. You hoped he'd slept on the plane.

Finally you arrived at the terminal that Matt was arriving at. His flight was on schedule so it would be back in 15 minutes, there had been traffic so it's taken about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get here and find parking. Your car was small, it was a blue Ford. Old, but you loved it all the same.
You saw him then. 'MATT!' You called out.
'ASH!' He called out your petname. He dropped all of his suitcases whilst you ran at him at full speed, not caring about the glares of other passengers or people collecting them, you hadn't seen Matt in 2 months of course you'd run at him. You finally got to him not slowing down and leaped at him, hugging him with all the was in you, he picked you up and spun you around laughing at the cheesiness of it all. He kissed you, hard. But it wasn't a rough kiss, more of a 'I've missed you so much and I love you and I have so many feelings towards you' kind of kiss. You kissed back, varying the pressure of it. Soon your mouths were working together, and your eyes were closed, again not caring about everyone watching, you had missed Matt, skype wasn't good enough. You had wanted to see the real thing.
Eventually you broke off the kiss. 'I love your top,' he winked, still breathless.
'I picked it out specially,' you blushed.
'Ew, you guys are so gross, Flyzik sort out your life!' Rian shouted, laughing as he walked calmly to Cassadee.
'Yeah, I agree get a room perverts,' Jack winked. The word 'Perverts' didn't even make sense in this context, but it was his favourite so he would use it.
Alex just walked past 'Hey Ashlee!' He smiled warmly in your direction.
'Hey Al!' You answered, returning the smile.
'I have a surprise for you,' you muttered into Matt's ear, seductively almost.
'What kind?' He smiled like a child.
'We're going to Disneyland.' You couldn't keep it in, you were going to make him get on the train not knowing the destination, but the way his eyes lit up made everything so perfect.

You had been queueing for this ride for ages. It was a Mickey Mouse one, you didn't even know these existed in Disneyland. But Matt had been happy ever since you'd told him, it was worth it.
He kissed you when you were closer to the front, 'I love you Ashlee.'
'I love you too,' you replied, smiling into his chest as you hugged him.
'Good, now let's get on this ride!' He jumped up when the barrier was lifted and you got on.

You had finished on all of the rides for today. You ere staying for 3 days so you could get through all of them another time, but it was 6pm now and you were hungry and tired.
'You okay?' Matt asked you.
'No, I'm tired,' he hugged you when you said that.
'Do you want a cuddly toy to make you happy?'
'That would be perfect,' you smiled up at him.
You got into the shop and ended up buying a lot more than you had originally planned. You bought a giant cuddly mickey mouse each. Matching tops yours had Mini on it, and Matt's Mickey saying 'he's mine' and 'she's mine' on them. You bought jumpers and cuddly toys for the band and crew, they had wanted to come too but it was your trip just you and Matt's so you'd politely said no. You bought loads of random stuff that you didn't need but your excuse was that they were 'souvenirs'.

It was time to go home. 3 days had flown by. Matt was pretty sad, so you kissed him almost all day to make him feel better.
'Ash, before we leave, I want us to wear our matching tops and I have a present for you.' He said sincerely ..
'Okay, freak,' you laughed and winked.
'Shush just do it Princess,' he had said.
You had both gotten into your matching shirts, he had taken a picture of you kissing in them and then taken a small box out of his back pocket. The one in his jeans.
'Well Ashlee what can I say, I think you already know what this is, I bought it when I went to Australia, it's for you.' He opened the box and there was a beautiful golden engagement ring with 'Forever' engraved into it.
'I love you so much, please marry me?' He had asked, bending down onto one knee, looking up at you with his sincere brown eyes.
Your own eyes had sparkled, and then you felt heavy drops of water falling out of them.
'Yes, yes, yes y-yes' You had said over and over, stuttering.
He slipped it onto you and you rushed into hug him. He kissed you on your nose and forehead before saying 'I love you' into your hair.
It had been the perfect way to propose.
You would always love Matt and the way he could surpirse you so much, forever.
