its sooo fun how dungeons reveal the psyche of the dungeon lord like. thistles dungeon was so planned and meticulous but so full of ghosts and unravelling at the end. mithruns dungeon was apparently so convoluted and 'made out of jealousy, lies, anger and inferiority'. marcilles dungeon was like.... that lmao, everything being brought to the same level with no real regard for what that might do to the ecosystem, and laios' dungeon ultimately ends up spilling out onto the surface. becoming one with it you might say
anyways if you were a dungeon lord what would your dungeon look like

Pic context: Talking about the exy stadium at USC considering the fact that USC is a real school
I love how Nora just invents things in order to avoid complications with real-life things.
Like, using USC's football stadium as the exy stadium too would take a lot of work to figure out how that would be possible. Solution: invent a new stadium!
Having the characters play a real sport that already exists would mean looking into all the rules and regulations and history, etc, and there could be multiple elements of the sport that work against the plot of the story or complicate it in some way. Solution: invent a new sport!
I mean, it gives her full creative control over what happens in the story, and we as readers get to learn about a cool new thing without feeling the need to fact-check every element. Tbh, it makes so much sense to me.
Like, go off! Make stuff up! It's your world. We're just reading and enjoying and becoming obsessed with it!!!

the whole "cats choose their owners" thing is really funny to me because ivy very much did NOT choose me. she was a slightly dim-witted and very rambunctious feral kitten, and that combination led to her getting herself stuck inside an old chipmunk nest halfway down the steep bank of the creek by my parents' house. from there she proceeded to scream her head off until both my mom and i came out to see what on earth was making all that racket, then we excavated her out of that hole like a sad little potato. she was grateful for the rescue, but definitely NOT grateful for the ensuing flea baths and conversion to indoor cat life at my apartment, which she reminds me of regularly. ivy i'm sorry for saving you from an early death due to predation/disease/cars, but can you stop biting me every day of my life please

why do people (esp the old fandom) treat mckinley as a trophy wife and kevin like some sort of chad. Connor is literally the always on top leader of an entire district while kev is just some dude with a coffee addiction.

Mrs Westenra's tut-tuting days ago about Seward watching over Lucy because "she is better now, she can stop the antibiotics" feels like foreshadowing now, or at least that this isn't an uncharacteristic action from her.
Definitely!
On 6 September she gets worried about Lucy and consults Jack, who then is able to bring in van Helsing. But by the very next day, she already seemed less alarmed than expected and prompted Jack's musing about Nature creating a self-protective instinct towards protecting her from deadly shocks by not allowing them to reach her. And so he "laid down a rule that she should not be present with Lucy or think of her illness more than was absolutely required. She assented readily, so readily that I saw again the hand of Nature fighting for life." That's the day of Lucy's first transfusion, and we see already Mrs. Westenra denying how bad the situation is, and then consenting to keep her distance. The day after that, she thinks staying up with Lucy is unnecessary since she's doing better. And then we don't hear from her again till today.
I think part of it might be related to prejudice against van Helsing. Jack presents the 'stay up with Lucy' plan as recommended by vH. The maids try to intercede with Jack to say it's not needed for vH to stay up with Lucy. And Mrs. Westenra takes away the flowers which were his treatment plan. Perhaps there's an element of distrust towards this stranger of a foreign doctor.
However, I think even without considering any kind of xenophobic angle, Mrs. Westenra does tend towards self-superiority and denial. She gets anxious over something (Lucy's sleepwalking in Whitby, Lucy's health in London), deputizes someone else to take over (Mina in Whitby, Jack in London) and then doesn't seem to worry about it so much any more. At the least, she doesn't talk about her worries. It's almost as though she offloads them onto someone else, and then once she's gotten that out, she can switch to laughing them off as silly and unnecessary in the first place. After all, Lucy seems so much better, and she's not heard of anything getting worse. It must be fine, they must be overreacting and making unnecessary fuss, is all.
It's also possible that now, as her own illness is getting worse (in London Jack says stuff about her going off to lay down and such, while in Whitby she still seemed to be spending her days engaged in a fair bit of socializing based on Mina's comments), she's got some degree of brain fog going on. It might be harder for her to keep track of things. Also a factor could be her regretting/resenting the agreement to keep out of Lucy's health and not visit her. She agreed easily because she wants to avoid scary/negative thoughts (even on an unconscious level), but she also resents it a little bit because 'I'm her mother, I know how to take care of her. And anyway, she seems better now!' kind of thoughts. Once she gets an idea in her head she tends to trust it more than even the experts she is consulting for advice, convinced she knows what she is doing. But she doesn't, and she's making things worse.

Question for those of us who write and post fanfic, drabbles, ficlets, etc:
How do you decide what ideas to complete and post? Do you just post whatever your heart desires, or do you have to convince yourself that posting xyz is 'okay' to do? A mixture of the two? I would like to hear your thoughts 🎤

Their eyes lock across the table.
It’s a challenge to keep up his cool facade. Only years of practicing for their entrance interviews keeps Ludwig from flinching.
He’s studied each one of them in preparation for this, his chance to prove his District’s worth. To prove that they’re ready to sit at their table.
He hadn’t looked so much at the numbers though. Now that the value of each card has been attached to real world data he wants to kick himself for not paying better attention. He’s only at a disadvantage now because he arrogantly assumed he wouldn’t need to know any of that.
His focus had been on their personalities and play styles instead. So far, everything has lined up with his expectations.
That just doesn’t make it any less intimidating.
Despite being the youngest out of all of them, Alfred has the easy confidence of power behind him. Unlike Feli’s posturing, Alfred is relaxed. Happy. Enjoying himself.
Because he is sure he will win. His smile is at once inviting and venomous. Just here to have some fun before he swallows you whole.
But then Alfred winks at him, and Ludwig’s train of thought derails. Perhaps he has good stats, sure, but there’s no way he knows how to use them.
If he does, then my team might lose, and my team can’t lose, or else I might never see him again.
That can’t happen. I’m not done with him yet.
